SELLEST OSAST
Plus: a declassified CIA weapon that could stop a heart and leave no trace, Netflix branding a Hollywood classic "racist," and the FCC move quietly redrawing who controls your local news — all in today's episode.
A sitting member of Congress just told the networks they have an "ethical obligation" not to let you watch the President speak tonight. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants broadcasters to review the transcript in advance and decide whether America is allowed to hear it live. Chuck asks the question underneath the outrage: if you were confident the speech was full of lies, you'd air it and let it fail. You only reach for the blackout switch when you're afraid of what people will believe once they hear it. So what is actually in Thursday night's address that has this much of Washington reaching for the switch?
That is one of six. There is a Cold War assassination device, revealed in the 1975 Church Committee hearings, that fires a frozen dart and leaves a mark the size of a pinprick, and the timing of when Chuck brings it up will make you sit forward. Arkansas just posted numbers its critics said were impossible. Britain is using a fresh tragedy to argue for more control over what you're allowed to post. Netflix quietly told viewers a 1939 classic is something to be ashamed of. And the FCC is moving to change who is even allowed to own the station that reads you the news at night. Six stories. Seven o'clock. The truth starts now.
