When Relationship With God Produces Power | Alton Kiing (Part 1)

WEBVTT
00:00:00.160 --> 00:00:01.040
We start praying for him.
00:00:01.120 --> 00:00:02.959
We knew something happened because he cussed at us.
00:00:03.200 --> 00:00:06.000
And so he's like, Oh, shh, what did you do to my leg?
00:00:06.160 --> 00:00:07.280
What did you do to my leg?
00:00:07.440 --> 00:00:08.560
I said, We didn't do anything.
00:00:08.640 --> 00:00:09.039
What happened?
00:00:09.199 --> 00:00:11.199
He's like, all the pain that was in my leg left.
00:00:11.279 --> 00:00:14.160
I don't have any pain in the area where my ACL was torn.
00:00:14.480 --> 00:00:16.960
I ate even though I didn't have physical food.
00:00:17.039 --> 00:00:20.800
It was the weirdest sensation to feel full, even though I didn't eat anything.
00:00:20.960 --> 00:00:27.920
Whether you have the gift of healing or not, or the gift of the working of miracles, when you declare the gospel to people and pray for people for healing, it happens.
00:00:28.000 --> 00:00:28.320
Yeah.
00:00:28.480 --> 00:00:29.440
God does things.
00:00:29.600 --> 00:00:31.039
He says, Go into all the world preaching.
00:00:31.120 --> 00:00:35.359
It says the Lord worked with them, confirming the word with the accompanying signs.
00:00:38.560 --> 00:00:40.320
Welcome to We Going Up.
00:00:40.399 --> 00:00:44.960
This is your proclamation of elevation in a space where we have conversations that pull you up.
00:00:45.119 --> 00:00:47.280
I'm your host, Portia Carter.
00:00:47.600 --> 00:01:02.799
Today I have the pleasure of sitting down with a musician, singer, songwriter, low-key comedian, high-key matchmaker, and a creative whose music has become a part of some people's biggest life moments.
00:01:03.039 --> 00:01:10.480
And if you know the fiance anthem, she's about the the uh wife keeps talking about me.
00:01:10.719 --> 00:01:11.840
That's the song.
00:01:12.159 --> 00:01:13.760
So y'all help me welcome.
00:01:13.920 --> 00:01:15.040
I'll take it.
00:01:16.319 --> 00:01:17.120
What's up, guys?
00:01:18.239 --> 00:01:19.359
I'm so happy to have you.
00:01:19.439 --> 00:01:19.840
How are you?
00:01:20.239 --> 00:01:20.640
I'm good.
00:01:20.719 --> 00:01:21.599
Thank you for having me.
00:01:21.840 --> 00:01:22.400
It's an honor.
00:01:22.719 --> 00:01:23.120
You're good.
00:01:23.359 --> 00:01:23.840
It's beautiful.
00:01:23.920 --> 00:01:24.319
Oh, yeah.
00:01:24.959 --> 00:01:25.599
Beautiful.
00:01:25.920 --> 00:01:30.959
It's a set that feels like relaxed and just homey and chill.
00:01:31.040 --> 00:01:32.400
Y'all are just like, Yeah, it does.
00:01:32.560 --> 00:01:33.519
Yeah, it's chill.
00:01:33.840 --> 00:01:34.480
I'm so glad.
00:01:37.280 --> 00:01:38.079
You said you what?
00:01:38.239 --> 00:01:40.879
I said I'm doing this with my friends, so it's like Yes, yes.
00:01:42.079 --> 00:01:53.920
Okay, so I always start with this or that, but before we get into this or that, I do want to let you know that um there was a moment, because you know, I feel like any time that we hang out is very spontaneous, unplanned.
00:01:54.400 --> 00:02:10.719
There was a moment we had an unplanned, spontaneous hangout, and I was just telling you some of the things that I had been through, and then explaining how I wanted to get back into hosting portion, you know, back into hosting.
00:02:11.360 --> 00:02:22.560
And you for a good, I don't know how many hours, because you got you can talk, but you gave me a full blueprint, and I believe this is the start of that blueprint.
00:02:22.879 --> 00:02:23.840
And so thank you.
00:02:24.240 --> 00:02:24.719
You're welcome.
00:02:24.960 --> 00:02:26.080
You played a major part in this.
00:02:26.159 --> 00:02:27.280
That's why I wanted to have you on.
00:02:27.360 --> 00:02:36.960
I'm like, we got to have my boy on because he really was giving me, you know what I'm saying, the the the T's to cross and the I's to dot and making sure that this goes forth.
00:02:37.039 --> 00:02:39.439
And what's crazy is I didn't have this in mind.
00:02:40.159 --> 00:02:45.520
It was written down since 2021, but I didn't have this in mind when we were having that conversation.
00:02:46.080 --> 00:02:51.280
You know, and now that God has brought it back full circle, it's like here we are.
00:02:51.599 --> 00:02:52.879
Yeah, and you're doing it.
00:02:53.599 --> 00:02:56.879
So obviously, God's grace, but you're doing it.
00:02:57.039 --> 00:02:58.240
Um God be the glory.
00:02:58.479 --> 00:03:04.319
You took the steps, you got the vision down, you implemented where you needed to.
00:03:04.400 --> 00:03:06.400
You got the crew and the team and the people.
00:03:07.280 --> 00:03:07.840
You're doing it.
00:03:08.000 --> 00:03:08.960
This is a part of the blueprint.
00:03:09.039 --> 00:03:09.919
You gave me a full blueprint.
00:03:10.080 --> 00:03:12.479
I was just listening, like I don't even got a show idea.
00:03:12.639 --> 00:03:13.599
That was actually a year ago.
00:03:13.680 --> 00:03:15.759
Yeah, I was like, it was in September last year.
00:03:16.000 --> 00:03:16.639
Yeah.
00:03:16.879 --> 00:03:17.520
Yeah.
00:03:18.080 --> 00:03:18.560
Wow.
00:03:18.719 --> 00:03:20.240
I wonder what day that was.
00:03:20.560 --> 00:03:21.520
September 14th.
00:03:21.680 --> 00:03:23.039
Okay, you remember that distinctly.
00:03:23.360 --> 00:03:23.520
Okay.
00:03:24.000 --> 00:03:24.319
I do.
00:03:24.560 --> 00:03:24.800
Wow.
00:03:24.960 --> 00:03:26.639
I was like, this ought to be like a year ago.
00:03:26.719 --> 00:03:27.680
I remember it was close.
00:03:27.840 --> 00:03:28.080
Wow.
00:03:28.400 --> 00:03:28.960
That's crazy.
00:03:29.120 --> 00:03:30.639
I remember congratulations to you.
00:03:30.719 --> 00:03:31.199
This is a big deal.
00:03:31.599 --> 00:03:35.759
Can we just clap it up for a clap it up a Porsche?
00:03:36.080 --> 00:03:36.960
Come on, come on, come on.
00:03:37.199 --> 00:03:38.400
Glory to God, we're going up.
00:03:38.560 --> 00:03:38.800
Okay.
00:03:39.039 --> 00:03:39.840
We is going up.
00:03:39.919 --> 00:03:41.280
Okay, so this is a little this or that.
00:03:41.360 --> 00:03:42.319
You can only choose one.
00:03:42.479 --> 00:03:42.800
Okay.
00:03:42.960 --> 00:03:43.280
Okay.
00:03:43.919 --> 00:03:45.360
Coffee or tea?
00:03:49.280 --> 00:03:50.960
You like them both that hard?
00:03:51.280 --> 00:04:02.240
I started drinking coffee more regularly recently because I found a place in town named uh it's called Wayward Coffee, and they have something called a gold rush, and that's where my mind first one is the one coffee I really like.
00:04:03.120 --> 00:04:04.479
But other than that, I'd say tea.
00:04:04.560 --> 00:04:07.039
So I'm gonna go with tea because I usually drink tea before I drink coffee.
00:04:07.120 --> 00:04:10.400
I'm not a coffee person, I'm a little bit more of a matcha person, but whatever.
00:04:10.639 --> 00:04:12.400
Ew, you drink grass?
00:04:13.840 --> 00:04:17.920
It's crazy because I ain't even ever had a matcha, but it just looked like grass, so I don't want it.
00:04:18.160 --> 00:04:22.560
There people say it is a little earthy, but it's the way that you order it, and it depends on where you get it from.
00:04:22.639 --> 00:04:27.360
And I've had good matcha, and it's actually a nice little slow rise versus the spike you get from coffee.
00:04:27.519 --> 00:04:32.000
It's got L-theanine in it, and so that's part of what offsets some of the caffeine spike you get.
00:04:32.079 --> 00:04:37.839
But anyways, so it's like grass coffee, uh, with flavor and syrups and vanilla.
00:04:37.920 --> 00:04:39.680
You can put all kinds of stuff in there.
00:04:39.920 --> 00:04:43.040
Okay, I asked this because of just some things that I know about you.
00:04:43.600 --> 00:04:46.639
Ethiopian food or Mexican food?
00:04:47.439 --> 00:04:49.839
I'm from San Antonio, I grew up on a lot of Mexican food.
00:04:49.920 --> 00:04:55.360
In the last several years, I've had a lot of Ethiopian food, and that started in 2018.
00:04:55.680 --> 00:05:01.920
Um, they have this tradition in Ethiopia where if it's your first time eating Ethiopian food, they hand feed you your first bite.
00:05:02.000 --> 00:05:03.279
It's called Gersha.
00:05:03.439 --> 00:05:06.879
And so after that, I like like give it to you.
00:05:07.279 --> 00:05:08.959
Yeah, because you have to your mouth.
00:05:09.360 --> 00:05:12.639
Yeah, they're looking up.
00:05:12.720 --> 00:05:13.519
It's called Gersha.
00:05:13.680 --> 00:05:15.759
Uh G-U-R-S-H-A, I believe.
00:05:15.920 --> 00:05:19.600
But um that's hard.
00:05:21.120 --> 00:05:21.759
You know what?
00:05:21.839 --> 00:05:25.040
I've been eating way more Ethiopian than I have Mexican right now, unless it's tacos.
00:05:25.199 --> 00:05:26.480
I'm gonna go with Ethiopian food.
00:05:26.639 --> 00:05:26.879
Okay.
00:05:27.120 --> 00:05:28.160
Ethiopian food.
00:05:28.319 --> 00:05:30.079
You know, I knew you loved Mexican food too.
00:05:30.480 --> 00:05:32.399
But you always post in your Ethiopians.
00:05:32.560 --> 00:05:34.480
Yeah, I'm always posting Ethiopian lately.
00:05:34.560 --> 00:05:37.680
And I found two really good spots here in Dallas that I really love.
00:05:37.759 --> 00:05:40.800
One of them is called Shiba's Ethiopian Kitchen, the other one's called Bana.
00:05:41.600 --> 00:05:44.879
Which is more Eritrean-owned, but nonetheless Habisha.
00:05:45.040 --> 00:05:46.639
It's not in that same space.
00:05:46.959 --> 00:05:49.199
You're so multicultural.
00:05:50.480 --> 00:05:52.160
Sometimes, sometimes you black.
00:05:52.319 --> 00:05:54.720
Sometimes you ever sometimes you Dominican.
00:05:54.879 --> 00:05:55.600
No, no, no, no.
00:05:57.120 --> 00:05:58.639
I know black I Dominican.
00:05:58.800 --> 00:05:59.839
I know black Dominican.
00:06:02.079 --> 00:06:04.399
Hey Low-key comedian for sure.
00:06:05.120 --> 00:06:09.439
Um, okay, city life or somewhere peaceful and secluded.
00:06:09.759 --> 00:06:11.839
Uh, you know, I've done both.
00:06:13.120 --> 00:06:16.800
I think I'm gonna go with where I am today.
00:06:16.959 --> 00:06:18.800
I just got back from New York a couple months ago.
00:06:18.959 --> 00:06:19.439
I went out there.
00:06:20.560 --> 00:06:26.160
I I like the city life, but I do also like really like quiet, serene places.
00:06:26.319 --> 00:06:33.759
I lived in a mountain town at one point in Northern California, and it was very much literally the mountains and the lakes.
00:06:33.920 --> 00:06:34.959
And that's all you had.
00:06:35.120 --> 00:06:37.279
The city was maybe 90,000 people.
00:06:37.600 --> 00:06:39.680
So you got used to it.
00:06:39.839 --> 00:06:43.120
I did camping, I did all types of stuff out there that I normally would never do.
00:06:43.439 --> 00:06:44.639
You were able to see the stars at night?
00:06:44.800 --> 00:06:45.199
Oh, yeah.
00:06:45.360 --> 00:06:46.319
We count shooting stars.
00:06:46.399 --> 00:06:48.560
I think one night I counted like 13 shooting stars.
00:06:48.639 --> 00:06:49.360
It's incredible.
00:06:49.519 --> 00:06:51.439
Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen one of those.
00:06:51.680 --> 00:06:54.639
To see 13 in one night was pretty crazy, I'm not gonna lie.
00:06:54.800 --> 00:06:58.639
It was it was wild, and they were happening like every 30 minutes or so.
00:06:59.120 --> 00:06:59.519
Yeah.
00:07:00.480 --> 00:07:06.480
Some of them I would be looking straight up and I'd see it, and then others, it would be like in my peripheral, and then I can turn and see it real quick before it went out.
00:07:06.639 --> 00:07:07.120
It's crazy.
00:07:07.439 --> 00:07:10.879
See, I live so much city life that I don't know when I would ever be able to see.
00:07:12.319 --> 00:07:17.199
I've been camping before to where I was able to see the stars and they were like so potent, like big.
00:07:17.360 --> 00:07:20.959
I was so like, this is what it looks like when I'm not in the city.
00:07:21.839 --> 00:07:22.720
Yeah, it's nice.
00:07:22.800 --> 00:07:23.600
I'm not gonna lie.
00:07:23.680 --> 00:07:24.319
It's a phenomenon.
00:07:24.399 --> 00:07:25.040
It's one of those things.
00:07:25.120 --> 00:07:27.759
The one thing I haven't seen yet that I would love to see is northern lights.
00:07:27.839 --> 00:07:28.560
Now that's great.
00:07:29.040 --> 00:07:31.839
You've never seen northern lights, just Google it online.
00:07:32.000 --> 00:07:32.639
It's a phenomenon.
00:07:33.360 --> 00:07:34.240
Yeah, it's a phenomenon.
00:07:34.399 --> 00:07:35.360
Anyways, sorry.
00:07:35.680 --> 00:07:37.439
Late nights or early mornings?
00:07:37.680 --> 00:07:38.879
Late nights.
00:07:39.360 --> 00:07:41.759
I believe that a lot of I am not a morning person at all.
00:07:42.000 --> 00:07:43.839
I believe that's not a morning person.
00:07:44.079 --> 00:07:46.000
I I like slow mornings.
00:07:46.160 --> 00:07:50.639
In fact, I usually try not to do anything for the first two to three hours of my day.
00:07:50.959 --> 00:08:03.680
I really try not to pick up my phone unless I'm turning on my Bible app to listen to scriptures, or um, I'll grab like my sleep mask and put it back on to block out a lot of the light in the room.
00:08:04.319 --> 00:08:09.040
Um, I used to kind of like black out the room with, you know, over the windows, curtains, or whatever.
00:08:09.120 --> 00:08:15.759
But um yeah, I'm a slow morning person, which is crazy because I'm very social and extroverted.
00:08:15.839 --> 00:08:17.279
So when I'm on, I'm really on.
00:08:17.759 --> 00:08:19.279
The morning time's not it though.
00:08:19.360 --> 00:08:20.639
I just don't want to talk to people.
00:08:20.800 --> 00:08:23.759
I'm very like, if I got like 6 a.m.
00:08:23.920 --> 00:08:25.120
call times or 8 a.m.
00:08:25.279 --> 00:08:26.879
even, I'm just like, I'm just not there.
00:08:27.040 --> 00:08:31.839
It's like it takes a second for me to like, I have to tell people like it's not you, you didn't do anything wrong.
00:08:32.000 --> 00:08:33.360
I'm just not a morning person.
00:08:34.240 --> 00:08:35.279
I completely understand.
00:08:35.440 --> 00:08:38.720
And they're expecting you to be the person that I am at like 2 p.m.
00:08:39.759 --> 00:08:41.600
And I'm like, nah, I'm not there yet.
00:08:41.679 --> 00:08:47.600
But yeah, I think you accidentally text me back one time in the morning and was like, wait a minute, I don't be texting this morning.
00:08:47.759 --> 00:08:51.519
No, I don't be texting this early, so I'll catch you back after one.
00:08:52.159 --> 00:08:53.039
Okay, she okay.
00:08:53.120 --> 00:08:58.799
To be fair, she texts and I was kind of like still laying with one eye open and I fired back a quick little response.
00:08:58.879 --> 00:09:02.240
And she was like, dang, are uh you gonna answer my other questions?
00:09:02.480 --> 00:09:03.360
She did ask questions.
00:09:04.000 --> 00:09:04.799
Like, you don't like greetings?
00:09:04.879 --> 00:09:05.519
Good morning.
00:09:05.600 --> 00:09:12.799
Yeah, and I I didn't really that's what it was, and I didn't really respond back like in a way that was like because it was an accident, you're not a morning person.
00:09:13.039 --> 00:09:17.039
I just completely bypassed the greeting, bypassed all the stuff, and just answered the question.
00:09:17.279 --> 00:09:19.039
And then I was like, Oh, I'm so sorry.
00:09:19.120 --> 00:09:20.320
I'm not a morning person.
00:09:20.480 --> 00:09:24.240
I don't think I actually actually finished responding until hours later.
00:09:24.720 --> 00:09:26.399
I think after that I put the phone back.
00:09:27.600 --> 00:09:29.039
But I was up, I was fine with the answer.
00:09:29.279 --> 00:09:29.759
I'm so sorry.
00:09:29.919 --> 00:09:30.399
Please forgive me.
00:09:30.559 --> 00:09:31.039
Please forgive me.
00:09:31.200 --> 00:09:31.919
I don't take no offense.
00:09:32.080 --> 00:09:32.159
Okay.
00:09:32.320 --> 00:09:32.879
I don't take no offense.
00:09:33.039 --> 00:09:36.240
I was definitely like, oh, I definitely that you got my morning.
00:09:36.480 --> 00:09:37.039
Yeah.
00:09:37.279 --> 00:09:38.879
I don't take no offense to that.
00:09:38.960 --> 00:09:40.559
I just brought it up because it was funny to me.
00:09:40.799 --> 00:09:42.799
If I've ever done that to anybody, I'm so sorry.
00:09:43.039 --> 00:09:43.919
Please forgive me.
00:09:44.000 --> 00:09:45.200
I I mean no harm.
00:09:45.360 --> 00:09:45.840
I love you.
00:09:46.000 --> 00:09:46.559
I really do.
00:09:46.799 --> 00:09:47.360
Like my heart.
00:09:50.879 --> 00:09:52.000
Like it's seven o'clock at here.
00:09:52.240 --> 00:09:52.879
Like, I'm just waiting.
00:09:53.039 --> 00:09:53.679
Yeah, that's too much.
00:09:53.840 --> 00:09:57.440
Okay, so last one, sweet or salty snacks.
00:09:57.679 --> 00:09:58.399
Oh, okay.
00:09:58.480 --> 00:10:01.120
When you say snacks, then yeah, sweet.
00:10:01.279 --> 00:10:01.679
Yeah.
00:10:02.399 --> 00:10:03.600
I'm a sweets person.
00:10:03.759 --> 00:10:05.360
So you like a cake and a little double cookie.
00:10:05.600 --> 00:10:06.799
I like a lot of sweets.
00:10:06.879 --> 00:10:08.399
I like Double Tree cookies.
00:10:08.559 --> 00:10:08.799
Okay.
00:10:09.039 --> 00:10:10.399
Double tree cookies are.
00:10:11.679 --> 00:10:13.200
Y'all, it's the chocolate chip.
00:10:13.440 --> 00:10:14.720
Where is a double tree at around here?
00:10:14.960 --> 00:10:16.320
Double Tree Hotel, just Google one.
00:10:16.639 --> 00:10:19.200
And the thing is, I don't even stay at the Double Tree Hotel that much anymore.
00:10:20.399 --> 00:10:23.279
I'll just walk in there and be like, hey, I just want to get two cookies.
00:10:23.440 --> 00:10:25.120
And usually they give them to me.
00:10:25.519 --> 00:10:29.679
Or I'll offer to buy them a water, or I'll buy water from them.
00:10:29.919 --> 00:10:33.519
And so, you know, at least I'm giving them some kind of business, right?
00:10:34.720 --> 00:10:36.799
And then they just give me two cookies.
00:10:37.200 --> 00:10:38.240
Sometimes they tell me no.
00:10:38.639 --> 00:10:39.519
Sometimes they've told me no.
00:10:39.679 --> 00:10:41.440
You got you got favored with a double treat.
00:10:41.679 --> 00:10:45.600
Yeah, I also just walk in there like I I'm supposed to be there.
00:10:45.840 --> 00:10:48.799
So I'm like, oh hey, yeah, can I get two cookies?
00:10:48.879 --> 00:10:49.440
Thanks so much.
00:10:49.600 --> 00:10:50.720
Appreciate you so much.
00:10:50.960 --> 00:10:52.080
And then they just give them to me.
00:10:52.240 --> 00:10:52.559
That's nice.
00:10:52.639 --> 00:10:55.919
I'm more of a salty girl.
00:10:56.320 --> 00:10:56.639
Okay.
00:10:56.799 --> 00:10:57.519
I love me a good chip.
00:10:57.679 --> 00:10:58.240
For a snack.
00:10:58.480 --> 00:10:58.720
Yes.
00:10:58.879 --> 00:10:59.039
Okay.
00:10:59.200 --> 00:11:00.080
Love me a good chip.
00:11:00.240 --> 00:11:03.279
No, I ain't salty like, you know, got, you know, salty, salty, but.
00:11:03.519 --> 00:11:04.159
Yeah.
00:11:04.559 --> 00:11:06.320
I'm saying, like, for snacks.
00:11:06.720 --> 00:11:07.120
A little snack.
00:11:07.440 --> 00:11:07.759
Love me.
00:11:08.080 --> 00:11:10.720
I would I would prefer to eat chips over a cake any day.
00:11:10.960 --> 00:11:11.440
Oh, see?
00:11:11.600 --> 00:11:12.720
Yeah, we're different than that.
00:11:12.960 --> 00:11:15.440
I would prefer a bag of cashews over a donut.
00:11:15.600 --> 00:11:15.919
Yeah.
00:11:16.080 --> 00:11:17.200
There's a place in town.
00:11:17.279 --> 00:11:18.799
There's two locations, three locations.
00:11:18.879 --> 00:11:19.919
Two of them downtown Dallas.
00:11:20.000 --> 00:11:21.120
One is in downtown Fort Worth.
00:11:21.200 --> 00:11:22.320
It's called Emporium Pies.
00:11:22.399 --> 00:11:24.000
They have a drunken nut, is what it's called.
00:11:24.159 --> 00:11:24.960
Incredible.
00:11:25.279 --> 00:11:26.559
It's an incredible pie.
00:11:27.120 --> 00:11:27.360
Great.
00:11:27.919 --> 00:11:28.799
The mixture ain't bad too.
00:11:28.879 --> 00:11:30.240
The sweet and salty mixture sometimes.
00:11:30.480 --> 00:11:31.120
It is nice.
00:11:31.679 --> 00:11:32.720
It's a little bit like that.
00:11:33.279 --> 00:11:34.399
But I could also do kicking it.
00:11:34.559 --> 00:11:37.679
That's what I get when I eat like fries and ice cream together.
00:11:38.000 --> 00:11:39.759
Okay, I can do fries and ice cream.
00:11:39.840 --> 00:11:40.720
I can get with that.
00:11:40.879 --> 00:11:44.159
I don't mix certain things sweet and savory like pineapples on pizza.
00:11:44.480 --> 00:11:45.440
That will never make sense to me.
00:11:45.519 --> 00:11:46.159
I don't understand how to do that.
00:11:46.320 --> 00:11:47.039
You get that all the time.
00:11:47.279 --> 00:11:47.519
Wow.
00:11:47.600 --> 00:11:48.240
Do you do crack?
00:11:48.639 --> 00:11:49.440
Whenever I do.
00:11:50.720 --> 00:11:52.399
Do you do crack?
00:11:53.120 --> 00:11:53.840
Crack is whack.
00:11:54.080 --> 00:11:54.559
Please shut up.
00:11:54.799 --> 00:11:55.360
Crack is whack.
00:11:56.159 --> 00:11:56.480
Interview.
00:11:57.279 --> 00:11:57.919
Interview over.
00:11:59.600 --> 00:12:01.279
Not do you do crack?
00:12:01.440 --> 00:12:02.399
Oh my goodness.
00:12:02.559 --> 00:12:04.399
But pineapple and pizza is nasty.
00:12:04.480 --> 00:12:05.039
But you know what?
00:12:05.120 --> 00:12:06.159
Everyone has their own thing.
00:12:06.799 --> 00:12:07.840
Everybody has their own thing.
00:12:08.000 --> 00:12:08.480
That's cool.
00:12:08.559 --> 00:12:09.200
There's no shade.
00:12:09.519 --> 00:12:11.360
If I'm eating pizza, I'm adding pineapples.
00:12:12.720 --> 00:12:13.200
You know what I'm saying?
00:12:13.279 --> 00:12:14.799
It's a little Hawaiian situation.
00:12:15.120 --> 00:12:17.039
A little Hawaiian gal in it inside.
00:12:17.519 --> 00:12:18.080
You know?
00:12:19.919 --> 00:12:20.320
Whatever.
00:12:20.559 --> 00:12:21.919
Me no like, me no like, me no like.
00:12:22.080 --> 00:12:22.480
No, no, no.
00:12:22.559 --> 00:12:23.120
Me no say.
00:12:23.440 --> 00:12:24.080
Me no say.
00:12:24.240 --> 00:12:24.320
No.
00:12:24.559 --> 00:12:25.120
No me gusta.
00:12:25.360 --> 00:12:25.919
No me gusta.
00:12:26.240 --> 00:12:27.120
No, no, no.
00:12:27.360 --> 00:12:30.399
You're like the only friend I can really speak Spanish with and try my best.
00:12:30.639 --> 00:12:31.600
Habla, sonor.
00:12:33.279 --> 00:12:34.080
Oh, okay.
00:12:39.200 --> 00:12:40.159
How do you say stop?
00:12:40.399 --> 00:12:41.759
Como se dice stop?
00:12:43.360 --> 00:12:44.720
Oh, God, I forgot stop.
00:12:44.879 --> 00:12:45.279
I don't know.
00:12:45.440 --> 00:12:47.039
Okay, so we could put it into that one.
00:12:47.519 --> 00:12:48.320
No, no, no, no.
00:12:48.559 --> 00:12:48.960
No, no, no.
00:12:49.440 --> 00:12:49.679
Stop.
00:12:49.759 --> 00:12:50.159
That's terrible.
00:12:50.399 --> 00:12:51.279
Because that's all I got for you.
00:12:51.840 --> 00:12:53.759
To my Latin community, I have plenty of Latin friends.
00:12:53.840 --> 00:12:54.720
I promise I love y'all.
00:12:54.799 --> 00:12:55.840
It's nothing personal.
00:12:57.519 --> 00:12:59.120
I've talked Spanish for so many years of my life.
00:12:59.279 --> 00:13:00.000
Don't put this online.
00:13:00.559 --> 00:13:01.200
We're cutting this.
00:13:01.519 --> 00:13:02.799
The whole Latin community.
00:13:02.960 --> 00:13:03.440
Anyways.
00:13:03.600 --> 00:13:04.240
No, we love them.
00:13:04.320 --> 00:13:05.440
We're we're keeping this actually.
00:13:05.519 --> 00:13:05.759
Yeah.
00:13:06.240 --> 00:13:09.600
So um, take us back to the beginning.
00:13:10.080 --> 00:13:15.039
Who was Alton King before the musician, the songwriter?
00:13:15.600 --> 00:13:24.240
Um, before you started being as wonderful and influential as you are, what were you like in your younger days?
00:13:24.320 --> 00:13:28.240
And are you doing anything now that you once dreamed of?
00:13:29.519 --> 00:13:33.440
Um so there's a couple things.
00:13:33.519 --> 00:13:38.879
Okay, so to answer your first question, I feel like I'm kind of the same as I was growing up.
00:13:39.200 --> 00:13:44.480
Like I've always been social, I've always enjoyed laughing, and people.
00:13:45.120 --> 00:13:47.600
My parents um were both musical.
00:13:47.840 --> 00:13:51.440
So my dad played drums, my mom was a singer and played piano.
00:13:51.600 --> 00:13:53.200
So I was raised in a musical household.
00:13:53.279 --> 00:13:55.039
That's always been a part of my life.
00:13:55.279 --> 00:13:59.919
Um and then I grew up in church, so church has always been a part of my life.
00:14:00.399 --> 00:14:07.279
Um, and as far as like things that I'm doing now, did I dream of that when I was younger?
00:14:07.440 --> 00:14:09.840
Some of this stuff, no, because it wasn't in my mind.
00:14:09.919 --> 00:14:11.360
It wasn't something I thought of.
00:14:11.519 --> 00:14:16.559
Um, there's things that I'm doing now that I didn't even think I'd be doing even at the end of high school.
00:14:16.720 --> 00:14:17.840
Like it wasn't in my mind.
00:14:18.080 --> 00:14:24.320
So a lot of stuff kind of unfolded after high school, which was around the time that I got saved.
00:14:24.399 --> 00:14:33.200
I got saved my senior year in high school, and then after that, so a lot of things changed because I had my life going in one direction.
00:14:33.279 --> 00:14:35.200
At one point, I wanted to be an athlete.
00:14:36.000 --> 00:14:38.080
I played basketball, football, and baseball.
00:14:38.240 --> 00:14:46.639
And then at another point, I wanted to um just be a good keyboardist or organist that could play for Dorinda Clark Cole or somebody.
00:14:46.720 --> 00:14:47.919
Like that was my headspace.
00:14:48.000 --> 00:14:50.720
I grew up in church playing the drums, the piano, and the organs.
00:14:50.879 --> 00:14:52.960
So for me, not saying in the choir a little bit, it was a tenor.
00:14:53.039 --> 00:14:54.240
Oh, anyways.
00:14:54.480 --> 00:15:00.320
So that was some of what we grew up on like Hezekiah Walker, James Hall, Ricky Diller type stuff.
00:15:00.559 --> 00:15:00.799
Save.
00:15:01.039 --> 00:15:04.000
Yeah, so you know, they bark, you know.
00:15:06.480 --> 00:15:07.120
They do.
00:15:09.519 --> 00:15:16.799
So I grew up on that, but I didn't see myself doing a lot of those things going into college, so I didn't really know what I wanted to do.
00:15:17.200 --> 00:15:24.960
And then God started to like give me vision of where my life was going, and then people would prophesy to me, and then just different things would happen that let me know, like, oh, this is where you want me to go.
00:15:25.120 --> 00:15:36.159
And so certain talents or gifts, if you will, weren't there in my eight, nine, 10-year-old, you know, life, 12-year-old life, 15-year-old life.
00:15:36.240 --> 00:15:40.559
Some of that stuff came after I was uh, you know, a college student.
00:15:40.720 --> 00:15:44.480
So it was like, okay, I'm following whatever I feel like God's telling me to do right now.
00:15:44.559 --> 00:15:45.440
I don't know what that is.
00:15:46.000 --> 00:15:50.639
So it meant bouncing around in different majors.
00:15:51.039 --> 00:15:54.480
Uh at one point I was majoring in business.
00:15:54.720 --> 00:16:01.200
And then at one point I had a desire for business, and it was something that um was spoken over me.
00:16:01.279 --> 00:16:04.080
And so I was like, all right, faith with works.
00:16:04.159 --> 00:16:05.120
I gotta go do something.
00:16:05.279 --> 00:16:07.279
I businesses just don't form themselves.
00:16:07.360 --> 00:16:08.559
I gotta learn how to do this.
00:16:08.720 --> 00:16:20.480
And then I started to get into a communications degree because I had a professor I really, really, really enjoyed, and uh he almost convinced me to change my major, but I ultimately landed in a production program.
00:16:20.639 --> 00:16:24.960
And so at that point, I'd already been songwriting a little bit after my senior in high school.
00:16:25.120 --> 00:16:31.360
During my senior year in high school, that turned into getting into this production program where I learned how to produce.
00:16:31.440 --> 00:16:37.440
And so it's like, okay, well, if I can be a musician, then I can be a songwriter, if I can be a songwriter, then I can produce.
00:16:37.519 --> 00:16:39.519
If I can produce, maybe I can be an artist.
00:16:39.759 --> 00:16:42.240
And it was around that time that I also started leading worship.
00:16:42.399 --> 00:16:47.519
So those things just kind of like fell into one another, but I never saw myself as any of that.
00:16:47.679 --> 00:16:49.840
I really only saw myself as like a church musician.
00:16:49.919 --> 00:16:52.240
Like I play organ and keys, like that's it.
00:16:52.480 --> 00:16:55.759
So church musician turned worship leader, yeah.
00:16:55.840 --> 00:16:57.360
And even then, that wasn't a thing.
00:16:57.440 --> 00:17:01.759
I didn't I didn't grow up leading worship, so for me, that was not a part of my life.
00:17:01.840 --> 00:17:07.920
I was playing for choirs, I played for praise teams, but I was never a worship leader because I didn't see myself as that.
00:17:08.160 --> 00:17:12.160
Um, you know, and then I thought at one point, like maybe I'll go into physical therapy.
00:17:12.240 --> 00:17:13.839
I had a girlfriend at the time.
00:17:14.000 --> 00:17:18.319
Her mother didn't believe in my music dreams and things that I was doing in school.
00:17:18.559 --> 00:17:21.359
Um, she was in school to become a pharmacist.
00:17:21.440 --> 00:17:24.960
She's not a pharmacist, a professor, and a researcher in Oklahoma.
00:17:25.279 --> 00:17:29.519
And I'm doing this thing in music.
00:17:29.599 --> 00:17:32.880
So she's trying to figure out what is my daughter doing with a musician, right?
00:17:33.039 --> 00:17:34.160
No shade to her.
00:17:34.240 --> 00:17:36.720
You know, she's married now, she has a child.
00:17:36.799 --> 00:17:38.160
I think they might have a second one on the way.
00:17:38.240 --> 00:17:38.720
I don't know.
00:17:38.880 --> 00:17:42.400
But the point is, this was something that she didn't believe in.
00:17:42.559 --> 00:17:43.920
And so it made me second guess.
00:17:44.000 --> 00:17:44.880
Well, maybe I should do something.
00:17:44.960 --> 00:17:46.079
I thought I was in love and all that.
00:17:46.160 --> 00:17:47.920
So I was like, I'm gonna try to make it work.
00:17:48.160 --> 00:17:58.400
That means going and getting a degree in physical therapy, something that has a little bit more of a promising like career path for the long haul.
00:17:58.720 --> 00:18:01.759
Or maybe I can be a cop.
00:18:02.000 --> 00:18:04.880
So I was on my way to the police academy.
00:18:05.119 --> 00:18:05.759
Yeah.
00:18:06.160 --> 00:18:06.799
In Oakland.
00:18:07.119 --> 00:18:07.839
I cannot see it.
00:18:08.160 --> 00:18:16.640
Not not worship leader, Alton King, not the whole artist, not the one who got albums and singles and music videos.
00:18:16.720 --> 00:18:18.000
Yo, beat these videos are lit.
00:18:18.240 --> 00:18:20.720
Well, yeah, I just was, and I was in a production program.
00:18:20.799 --> 00:18:27.680
So the lady that brought me into the program, um, I guess she was like the advisor over the the whole school.
00:18:27.920 --> 00:18:31.359
Um she was actually an agnostic lesbian.
00:18:31.599 --> 00:18:36.079
And she told me she was like, Hey, uh sit down.
00:18:36.319 --> 00:18:38.000
I was like, what's what's good, what's up?
00:18:38.240 --> 00:18:45.680
She was like, You're mentioning this whole thing about going into physical therapy, maybe becoming a cop and all that.
00:18:45.759 --> 00:18:46.160
And I get it.
00:18:46.400 --> 00:18:50.960
You're trying to do your thing, you want to support your girl and you want to make the family happy.
00:18:51.920 --> 00:18:59.039
Are you gonna be okay waking up every day in this career path and you feel fulfilled doing what you're doing?
00:19:00.480 --> 00:19:03.119
And I had already been carrying like a tension about the whole thing.
00:19:03.279 --> 00:19:07.599
It was like this thing in me that was like, I don't know that you know what?
00:19:07.759 --> 00:19:09.680
Actually, no, I I I I wouldn't.
00:19:09.759 --> 00:19:11.279
I'd just be doing it for her.
00:19:11.599 --> 00:19:12.480
Which seems noble.
00:19:15.119 --> 00:19:16.000
Yeah, and she did.
00:19:16.079 --> 00:19:18.640
And so I was like, huh.
00:19:19.279 --> 00:19:21.440
I wouldn't be fulfilled doing this.
00:19:21.680 --> 00:19:27.119
I actually feel like protected and serving the world or the city or wherever you was gonna be.
00:19:27.440 --> 00:19:29.599
And mind you, I tried to find things that I thought.
00:19:30.079 --> 00:19:31.519
We need to protect and serve you.
00:19:31.680 --> 00:19:32.880
Because you just be outside.
00:19:32.960 --> 00:19:36.720
We need to make sure we got a leash, some borders around you, you know what I'm saying?
00:19:37.119 --> 00:19:38.720
Heads of protection I'll be praying, Lori.
00:19:38.880 --> 00:19:40.160
Put a head of protection around my brain.
00:19:40.960 --> 00:19:42.079
It's just okay.
00:19:42.240 --> 00:19:46.960
So I tried to find things that fit my personality, that would fit my interests within these career paths.
00:19:47.039 --> 00:19:49.759
I like helping people, so I can see myself doing that with physical therapy.
00:19:49.920 --> 00:19:55.680
I like um, you know, aiding in situations that could be challenging or whatever, right?
00:19:55.759 --> 00:19:59.680
And so it's like the police work does that, you know, the physical therapy work does that.
00:19:59.839 --> 00:20:02.559
I'll always be no two days are gonna be alike.
00:20:02.640 --> 00:20:04.000
There's gonna be differences every day.
00:20:04.079 --> 00:20:05.200
I like spontaneity.
00:20:05.279 --> 00:20:07.039
I do like my life to be mixed up.
00:20:07.200 --> 00:20:11.599
I don't want to be behind a desk at a cubicle for 40 hours a week.
00:20:11.680 --> 00:20:13.039
That would be the death of me, right?
00:20:13.200 --> 00:20:14.559
I so I don't care for that.
00:20:14.640 --> 00:20:16.880
Uh my brain just I'd quit.
00:20:16.960 --> 00:20:18.960
I'd probably just quit and be like, I'm not doing that.
00:20:19.200 --> 00:20:21.599
So if I gotta do what I gotta do, I do what I gotta do.
00:20:21.759 --> 00:20:24.240
But if I have a choice, I don't want to do that.
00:20:24.400 --> 00:20:26.400
So um, yeah, I don't know.
00:20:26.480 --> 00:20:28.000
I felt like police work would be great.
00:20:28.079 --> 00:20:33.839
It's in the community, it's tons of opportunity to get your adrenaline pumping because crazy stuff's popping off.
00:20:33.920 --> 00:20:37.440
I did a ride along with the officer for a shift.
00:20:37.519 --> 00:20:44.400
It was like a 12-hour shift, 10-hour shift, and I got to ask him questions and then I'll be throwing the lights on, he's driving, trying to, you know, catch people.
00:20:44.559 --> 00:20:47.599
They had somebody that, you know, was stealing at the mall.
00:20:47.680 --> 00:20:48.559
So we went by the mall.
00:20:48.640 --> 00:20:53.279
I used to always go to, and he was like, you had to put her in cuffs and take her down and get her all booked and everything.
00:20:53.440 --> 00:21:03.359
And so for me, it was like at the same time, I also saw an opportunity to be like a positive reinforcement in the community, especially wearing a badge.
00:21:03.519 --> 00:21:07.440
And I know the relationship between cops and a lot of communities that look like you and I.
00:21:07.680 --> 00:21:14.720
So I was like, maybe that could be a way that I could bring a positive light to the police force and to show like not all cops are bad.
00:21:14.960 --> 00:21:24.240
Um, I had a letter of a recommendation from the former chief Book of Miss City Police Department, um, MT Berry, rest his soul, he just passed away a couple months ago.
00:21:24.400 --> 00:21:26.640
Um, he was the bass player at our church too.
00:21:26.960 --> 00:21:30.319
And then um a 20-year vet gave me their recommendation.
00:21:30.400 --> 00:21:32.960
I had another recommendation from a federal officer.
00:21:33.119 --> 00:21:37.839
And so I could have gone city, local state, or it was really almost in the works.
00:21:38.000 --> 00:21:39.200
Oh no, this was a real thing.
00:21:39.279 --> 00:21:41.200
I actually went to go do my a test.
00:21:41.359 --> 00:21:48.240
I did my, you know, they have you do like a pre academy assessment, which basically check tests your physical fitness.
00:21:48.799 --> 00:21:49.759
I'm so glad you didn't do it.
00:21:49.920 --> 00:21:50.079
Yeah.
00:21:50.480 --> 00:21:56.559
I mean, no, no, no shade to like, you know, that area of work, but you didn't belong there.
00:21:56.720 --> 00:21:57.359
Or at least I don't think.
00:21:57.839 --> 00:21:59.359
Yeah, I don't think it's what God had for me.
00:21:59.440 --> 00:22:12.319
And so So to kind of come back to your original question, um, what I saw myself doing, I took I went all that way just to say it changed over time because I was finding myself, I was finding the direction God wanted me to go.
00:22:12.480 --> 00:22:22.720
I was finding out things about my life that some of which made sense and seemed to stay intact both before I got saved and after, but some of it was new that came along afterwards.
00:22:22.799 --> 00:22:28.400
And then of course, with the girlfriend at the time and all the things, I was like, well, maybe I can set my calling aside and do this.
00:22:28.559 --> 00:22:29.920
It seemed noble at first.
00:22:30.160 --> 00:22:34.400
Learned a hard lesson in that to never set my calling aside ever again.
00:22:34.720 --> 00:22:44.240
The things that God actually called me to do, even if it's in favor of trying to like, you know, be whatever I thought my girlfriend's family needed me to be at the time.
00:22:44.400 --> 00:22:46.640
So yeah, listen to anyone out there.
00:22:46.799 --> 00:22:53.039
If it requires you laying down your God-given calling, like you need to just probably look elsewhere.
00:22:53.440 --> 00:22:54.000
Yeah.
00:22:54.240 --> 00:22:57.839
It shouldn't cause you, your relationship shouldn't pull you out of what God called you to.
00:22:57.920 --> 00:23:00.319
But, anyways, um, that's a whole other conversation.
00:23:00.559 --> 00:23:01.680
Is this talking too much?
00:23:01.759 --> 00:23:02.720
I feel like I'm on a ramble.
00:23:03.119 --> 00:23:06.960
If y'all are if y'all are feeling like it's all over the place, it probably is a little bit.
00:23:07.359 --> 00:23:08.240
It's not her, it's me.
00:23:08.319 --> 00:23:08.799
It's my age.
00:23:08.960 --> 00:23:10.400
It's not her friends, it's fine.
00:23:10.640 --> 00:23:21.680
Um, one thing that you mentioned in in this spill, um, you said that you grew up in church, but then you said you got saved like in your teen years.
00:23:22.400 --> 00:23:25.839
Or so can you unpack that?
00:23:26.000 --> 00:23:31.359
Because I often say a lot of the times, for those of us who grew up in church, sometimes we think we got a free ticket into heaven.
00:23:31.839 --> 00:23:31.920
Right.
00:23:32.480 --> 00:23:35.519
Like we grew up in church, so we think we just we in there with the Lord.
00:23:35.599 --> 00:23:36.240
You know what I'm saying?
00:23:36.400 --> 00:23:47.440
So can you can you unpack the difference between going to growing up in church and actually giving a making a decision to live your life for the Lord?
00:23:47.680 --> 00:23:50.000
Yeah, I mean, I grew up in a Baptist church.
00:23:50.079 --> 00:23:53.039
My parents taught us the word, my parents taught us scripture.
00:23:53.119 --> 00:23:56.079
Like we were at church, I was involved, I was a junior deacon.
00:23:56.240 --> 00:23:59.599
We had to take a vow of celibacy, walk down the aisle at 13.
00:23:59.759 --> 00:24:00.960
This is like heavy purity culture.
00:24:02.640 --> 00:24:03.039
Well, no.
00:24:04.319 --> 00:24:04.559
No.
00:24:04.799 --> 00:24:14.799
So what ended up happening was, you know, I grew up in a space where I understood some of the rules and systems of church, but I didn't have a relationship with the Lord.
00:24:14.880 --> 00:24:16.000
But I knew God was real.
00:24:16.079 --> 00:24:18.640
But by the end of my senior year, I was kind of tired of it.
00:24:18.720 --> 00:24:32.559
I had been like the church guy, I had been like, you know, whatever, like the musician, the junior deacon, the in the choir, was in Sunday school, VBS, was I we had shut ins.
00:24:32.880 --> 00:24:35.759
Like it was a I was in all the things with church, you know.
00:24:35.920 --> 00:24:42.240
And then if I wasn't specific to my department, it would be like I'm supporting the senior choir and this over here and all that.
00:24:42.400 --> 00:24:46.240
So I was kind of over it because for me, again, there's no relationship in it.
00:24:46.319 --> 00:24:49.279
It was just like things I was doing, and I was also going through a lot.
00:24:49.440 --> 00:24:51.200
Some of it was just teenage woes, right?
00:24:51.680 --> 00:24:59.440
But I had like anger issues, or I was fighting in school, or like, you know, at times um, you know, getting suspended or whatever.
00:24:59.519 --> 00:25:02.400
I had a I got in trouble a lot with my teachers because I talked back a lot.
00:25:02.640 --> 00:25:04.960
I was very defiant, I didn't like authority.
00:25:05.200 --> 00:25:11.359
And so my teachers would try to bargain with me because I had more control over my classroom than my teachers did.
00:25:11.519 --> 00:25:14.559
So, like, if you behave, they behave.
00:25:14.799 --> 00:25:17.039
If you act up, they gonna act up.
00:25:17.119 --> 00:25:22.960
We need you to like work with us, and then even at church, and so I guess it was early signs of leadership.
00:25:23.119 --> 00:25:28.240
I just didn't know how to like cultivate that yet because I was just kind of thinking about doing me, right?
00:25:28.400 --> 00:25:32.960
I'm a teenager, but I also had um developed like a porn addiction early on.
00:25:33.039 --> 00:25:38.960
There was just other things that had developed out of that, and so for me, my head space was all over the place.
00:25:39.200 --> 00:25:43.759
I was in the process of trying to buy a gun for$500 from a friend, nine millimeter.
00:25:44.000 --> 00:25:46.799
I used to have very angry thoughts about hurting people.
00:25:47.039 --> 00:25:49.119
Um, I wanted to shoot people.
00:25:49.680 --> 00:25:56.720
And so it was just like I was in a I was in a I was in a weird place and still love music, still love church.
00:25:56.799 --> 00:25:57.759
And that was an outlet for me.
00:25:57.839 --> 00:26:00.559
So it was nice, it was therapeutic to be able to play or to be at church.
00:26:00.720 --> 00:26:03.839
But when I would get in trouble, my parents would take that from me, so I couldn't play at church sometimes.
00:26:03.920 --> 00:26:04.960
And so it's like that was my punishment.
00:26:06.079 --> 00:26:06.960
Because they knew I loved it.
00:26:07.119 --> 00:26:07.839
They knew I loved it.
00:26:07.920 --> 00:26:17.599
So they they went after stuff that they knew I enjoyed, and it's like, okay, Lord was using you, and it was also a place where I was getting in trouble because I was getting in trouble at church sometimes too.
00:26:17.759 --> 00:26:18.720
Okay, yeah.
00:26:18.799 --> 00:26:21.440
So you was one of the church musicians, musicians.
00:26:21.759 --> 00:26:22.799
Yeah, I was a church musician.
00:26:23.039 --> 00:26:23.759
Oh my goodness.
00:26:24.000 --> 00:26:26.559
But in the sense of like, at that time, you know, as a teenager.
00:26:27.039 --> 00:26:33.680
We are church musicians, we got a stigma, but um, it's really the bass players and the drummers.
00:26:33.759 --> 00:26:38.799
But, anyways, um, and he shook his head, yes, because he knows so And the men of God on the keys.
00:26:39.359 --> 00:26:41.599
I'm thinking the men of God on the keys, too.
00:26:41.759 --> 00:26:47.519
Yeah, keys players are saints, but long story short, uh barely.
00:26:48.720 --> 00:26:56.960
But you know it'd be the it'd be the it'd be the girls asking for piano lessons, like I want you to show me how to play keys.
00:26:57.200 --> 00:26:58.400
Oh my goodness.
00:27:00.160 --> 00:27:02.400
Nobody would show you how to play keys.
00:27:02.799 --> 00:27:04.240
What are we talking about right now?
00:27:04.960 --> 00:27:06.160
Is this the note right here?
00:27:06.240 --> 00:27:06.720
Is this it?
00:27:07.359 --> 00:27:08.799
How about no show me?
00:27:09.039 --> 00:27:10.400
Show me how I'm supposed to do it.
00:27:10.640 --> 00:27:11.599
Oh my goodness.
00:27:11.759 --> 00:27:19.440
I probably have all over her shoulders not, all over her shoulders, just oh this is how you play that chord right there.
00:27:19.599 --> 00:27:21.759
It's like, whoa, okay, where are we going?
00:27:22.000 --> 00:27:22.559
What is this?
00:27:22.720 --> 00:27:25.920
It beat them keys, the drummers, yeah, and the bass players, too.
00:27:26.000 --> 00:27:29.279
Oh, you know, the whole musician staff needs some deliverance.
00:27:29.519 --> 00:27:31.759
They be wanting you to play a tune, anyways.
00:27:31.920 --> 00:27:40.640
Um, so for me as a teenager, this is where I was very much like I have to work through my issues with authority.
00:27:41.119 --> 00:27:50.880
I have to work through my issues with, you know, being disrespectful and anger issues, and you know, my parents, you know, they did what they could to help.
00:27:50.960 --> 00:27:52.640
My dad, obviously, you know, he didn't play that.
00:27:52.720 --> 00:27:56.400
He was old school, my mom didn't either, but I did give them some headaches.
00:27:56.480 --> 00:27:59.200
And so going into my senior year, I was done.
00:27:59.440 --> 00:28:02.640
I decided, all right, this is the year I'm gonna lose my virginity.
00:28:02.720 --> 00:28:03.839
I'm tired of being a good boy.
00:28:04.000 --> 00:28:07.599
I'd already had a couple sexual experiences at that point, and I was like, forget it.
00:28:07.680 --> 00:28:09.759
I need to get some notches on my belt, right?
00:28:09.920 --> 00:28:13.440
Um, all the guys in the locker room, they used to talk about who they knocking down and what they're doing.
00:28:13.519 --> 00:28:15.440
So I'm like, all right, I need to get me some.
00:28:15.680 --> 00:28:17.839
So that's my thought process.
00:28:18.079 --> 00:28:27.119
I'm on my way to um our rival high school football game, and my car breaks down just a couple days before that, excuse me.
00:28:27.359 --> 00:28:35.359
And so I couldn't drive my car, and I was supposed to go to a friend's house afterwards for this house party, and that's where I was planning on losing my virginity, right?
00:28:36.079 --> 00:28:37.680
And car broke down.
00:28:37.839 --> 00:28:39.599
My mom hears from the Lord.
00:28:39.839 --> 00:28:44.960
Anytime I was really about to go off the deep end with something, somehow she was always there in the middle of it.
00:28:45.200 --> 00:28:47.359
I would get caught in the most crazy situation.
00:28:47.519 --> 00:28:50.079
My mom would be like, I knew the Lord told me.
00:28:50.240 --> 00:28:51.200
I knew that was God.
00:28:51.359 --> 00:28:53.680
I was like, bruh, can't let me live.
00:28:53.839 --> 00:28:55.519
And so that's what I was planning on doing.
00:28:55.680 --> 00:28:58.559
But she says, after the game, she said, No, you're coming home with me.
00:28:58.640 --> 00:28:59.759
You're not going with your friends.
00:28:59.839 --> 00:29:01.200
I said, but they can take me home.
00:29:01.440 --> 00:29:02.319
You're not going with them.
00:29:02.480 --> 00:29:03.279
You come home with me.
00:29:03.440 --> 00:29:04.160
So I went home.
00:29:04.319 --> 00:29:07.440
I tried to sneak out the house that night, couldn't find a party.
00:29:07.839 --> 00:29:10.480
Came back home, snuck back in the house.
00:29:10.720 --> 00:29:19.119
And it was a couple weeks after that because I was really ready to start wilding, start drinking, start doing all the things that I was I was told I, you know, shouldn't do, it's not good for you, right?
00:29:19.599 --> 00:29:24.160
And uh I ended up meeting this guy named Gary, and he was a former gangbanger from LA.
00:29:24.400 --> 00:29:28.000
And Gary, um, he preached the gospel to me over the phone.
00:29:28.160 --> 00:29:30.720
We were supposed to connect to do a jam session or a shed session.
00:29:30.799 --> 00:29:31.839
Y'all grew up in church.
00:29:32.000 --> 00:29:35.599
So the musicians get together and be like, hey doc, hey doc, we finna do a shed, doc.
00:29:36.640 --> 00:29:42.559
And so Gary, you know, so Gary, um, Gary gets on the phone.
00:29:42.640 --> 00:29:46.400
He's kind of like unhinged because he came from the streets, but he's like an old head too.
00:29:46.480 --> 00:29:47.359
Like he's an aunt, right?
00:29:47.440 --> 00:29:50.319
At that point, he had to be like 45, 50, something like that, right?
00:29:50.559 --> 00:29:52.960
He's like, Let me tell you something, brother Alton.
00:29:53.119 --> 00:29:56.319
This ain't about no building, this is about a relationship.
00:29:56.640 --> 00:29:58.400
God don't want no religion.
00:29:58.640 --> 00:30:01.920
He came to give you a relationship with the father, brother.
00:30:02.160 --> 00:30:04.160
I was like, Man, you kind of intense, bro.
00:30:04.400 --> 00:30:06.160
We're supposed to be talking about a share session.
00:30:06.319 --> 00:30:10.799
And you would look at Gary and think he looks like he did drugs because he was missing half of his teeth.
00:30:10.960 --> 00:30:14.799
Um, he did get into half his teeth, he did drugs.
00:30:14.960 --> 00:30:21.519
And he used to walk around with a gun inside of a grocery bag that was tied around his wrist.
00:30:21.839 --> 00:30:24.880
He had his finger on the trigger at all times because he didn't know if he was gonna get caught up.
00:30:24.960 --> 00:30:27.119
So he had to be ready in case something was going down.
00:30:27.359 --> 00:30:36.319
But if you go back through the streets in LA in the church scene, a lot of them guys out there knew who he was, like Mike Burrell, these guys, they they took they took lessons from this guy.
00:30:36.559 --> 00:30:38.319
He's a fire musician.
00:30:38.400 --> 00:30:40.160
And you would never know that just looking at him.
00:30:40.240 --> 00:30:42.559
But the minute he sits down and plays it's so anointed.
00:30:42.720 --> 00:30:44.480
It's unbelievably anointed.
00:30:44.640 --> 00:30:46.799
And so I'd be like, bro, slow down, show me how to play that.
00:30:46.880 --> 00:30:47.279
What are you doing?
00:30:47.359 --> 00:30:48.640
You know, doc, show me that, doc.
00:30:48.799 --> 00:30:50.559
Hey, hey, let me see them chords, Doc.
00:30:50.720 --> 00:30:55.599
And so that's what it was was, that's what it was with him initially, but he stayed on the kingdom.
00:30:55.680 --> 00:30:58.079
He stayed on Jesus, he stayed on relationship with God.
00:30:58.240 --> 00:31:01.039
And something in my heart happened that night that we got on the phone.
00:31:01.119 --> 00:31:10.240
I still remember sitting in my brother's room when I was on that phone call, and it was like Jesus became real to me.
00:31:10.319 --> 00:31:14.960
I don't know how I explain that, other than it was like He used him in my heart, he became real.
00:31:15.279 --> 00:31:21.119
Yeah, and because I mind you, right before that, like I could be trying to read the Bible, it doesn't make sense.
00:31:21.200 --> 00:31:23.599
I throw it off to the side and go watch porn and masturbate.
00:31:23.680 --> 00:31:28.160
That's I was like, I'm gonna go do something else that takes my mind into a more happy direction.
00:31:28.400 --> 00:31:30.160
And just this doesn't make sense to me.
00:31:30.240 --> 00:31:31.279
It doesn't make sense.
00:31:32.000 --> 00:31:35.839
And yeah, after that, I can't explain it.
00:31:35.920 --> 00:31:37.519
It was a hunger that came over me.
00:31:37.599 --> 00:31:40.480
I started praying every day, stuff that I was just not doing.
00:31:40.640 --> 00:31:52.079
Um, I come home from you know, school or band practice, and I pray until I fall asleep, or I pray until five, six o'clock in the morning, then I'm like, dang, I gotta go to first period, but I've been up all night, you know.
00:31:52.240 --> 00:31:55.599
Um, I start having prophetic dreams, I started seeing things.
00:31:55.759 --> 00:32:02.400
Wow, God was like opening my eyes, but I was in a Baptist setting, so I didn't know how to like, I didn't know what half of this stuff was.
00:32:02.720 --> 00:32:04.880
I'm learning about it, so I started reading books and all this stuff.
00:32:04.960 --> 00:32:09.279
So when I talk to my youth minister about it, I bring things to them, be like, hey, I read this and the Bible says this.
00:32:09.359 --> 00:32:10.240
Why don't we teach this?
00:32:10.400 --> 00:32:13.759
Well, you know, you know, or my dad might tell me, you know, Baptists believe this.
00:32:13.839 --> 00:32:15.279
And I'm like, I'm not a Baptist.
00:32:15.359 --> 00:32:15.839
I'm going off.
00:32:16.000 --> 00:32:17.519
What does this Bible say at this point?
00:32:17.680 --> 00:32:17.839
Yeah.
00:32:18.079 --> 00:32:21.519
And at that point, he started to loosen his grip on me and just let me go on my own journey.
00:32:21.599 --> 00:32:23.759
I was a senior in high school, I was getting ready to graduate anyway.
00:32:23.920 --> 00:32:26.720
So that's kind of where Jesus became real to me.
00:32:26.880 --> 00:32:27.200
Wow.
00:32:27.440 --> 00:32:30.559
Then I got exposed to, I guess, what we call power ministry.
00:32:30.720 --> 00:32:37.359
Uh, got linked up with a church in Atlanta, went out there, started hearing about their testimonies online, and they go out in the streets and pray for people, evangelize.
00:32:37.440 --> 00:32:41.440
They had 12-year-olds leading people to Jesus at high school football games, prophesying, doing the whole thing.
00:32:41.759 --> 00:32:42.799
There's miracles and stuff.
00:32:42.960 --> 00:32:46.720
So I went out there, and that was some of the first exposure I got to miracles.
00:32:46.799 --> 00:32:53.599
I saw a deaf guy get healed, my uh, a guy that wasn't my pastor at the time, who later became my pastor, prayed for a deaf guy that got healed.
00:32:53.680 --> 00:32:55.920
This was right after service, so there was no fanfare around it.
00:32:56.000 --> 00:32:58.319
This guy just came up to the front asking for prayer.
00:32:58.480 --> 00:33:01.119
And after I saw that, I was like, oh, this is real.
00:33:01.680 --> 00:33:06.000
He's this is the same Jesus in Acts is the same Jesus today.
00:33:06.559 --> 00:33:08.319
Um, start going out on the streets.
00:33:08.400 --> 00:33:09.839
We'd go to high school football games.
00:33:10.000 --> 00:33:12.240
I remember we prayed for a guy, his ACL got torn.
00:33:12.480 --> 00:33:14.559
Now that's an injury that takes you out for the season.
00:33:14.880 --> 00:33:16.240
So we asked that we could pray for him.
00:33:16.319 --> 00:33:18.240
We told him, Jesus is king, the kingdom's at hand.
00:33:18.319 --> 00:33:22.880
This is what they used to teach us to uh when we go out and evangelize, tell people what Jesus said, the kingdom's at hand.
00:33:22.960 --> 00:33:24.960
I'm like, all right, kingdom's at hand.
00:33:25.279 --> 00:33:26.160
John the Baptist.
00:33:26.319 --> 00:33:27.039
Can we pray for you?
00:33:27.279 --> 00:33:28.559
And he was like, Yeah.
00:33:28.880 --> 00:33:29.920
We start praying for him.
00:33:30.000 --> 00:33:31.839
We knew something happened because he cussed at us.
00:33:32.079 --> 00:33:34.880
And so he was like, Oh, shh, what did you do to my leg?
00:33:35.039 --> 00:33:36.160
What did you do to my leg?
00:33:36.319 --> 00:33:37.440
I said, We didn't do anything.
00:33:37.519 --> 00:33:37.920
What happened?
00:33:38.079 --> 00:33:40.079
He's like, All the pain that was in my leg left.
00:33:40.160 --> 00:33:43.119
I don't have any pain in that area where my ACL was torn.
00:33:43.839 --> 00:33:49.039
And so we found out later that guy was back on the field the next week at the game.
00:33:49.200 --> 00:33:52.000
That's not a this is an injury that takes you out for the season.
00:33:52.240 --> 00:33:52.799
Yeah.
00:33:53.119 --> 00:33:56.000
Um Nate, our one of our server healer.
00:33:56.160 --> 00:34:00.240
Yeah, Nate led a house church and they prayed for a guy that um had AIDS.
00:34:00.400 --> 00:34:02.319
And they said, if you, you know, this is crazy.
00:34:02.480 --> 00:34:11.840
The story doesn't end well, but he had AIDS and he said, uh, he told this guy, he said, Hey, if Jesus healed you of AIDS, would you give your life to him?
00:34:12.079 --> 00:34:14.639
He'd become this Bible study in the project in Atlanta.
00:34:14.800 --> 00:34:18.079
He said, If Jesus healed me of AIDS, I'd give my life to him.
00:34:18.320 --> 00:34:19.519
He prays for him.
00:34:19.760 --> 00:34:22.079
This guy goes and gets a checkup.
00:34:22.320 --> 00:34:24.719
The AIDS is completely gone out of his system.
00:34:24.880 --> 00:34:27.199
This is not like something like cancer that goes into remission.
00:34:28.079 --> 00:34:31.199
This is something that once it's in your bloodstream, it's there.
00:34:31.440 --> 00:34:33.679
Yeah, it's unquote unquote uncurable.
00:34:33.920 --> 00:34:34.719
Incurable, right?
00:34:34.880 --> 00:34:41.599
So he goes back to the Bible study, reports this, but then later denies that the Lord did it.
00:34:43.360 --> 00:34:45.199
And the aides returned.
00:34:46.239 --> 00:34:50.800
And so, but to that point though, this is the type of stuff we went and laid hands on the blind.
00:34:50.880 --> 00:34:55.840
We saw this blind grandmother, she had 10% vision in one eye, complete blindness in the other eye.
00:34:56.000 --> 00:34:56.880
Laid hands on her.
00:34:57.039 --> 00:35:01.440
Her grandsons were taking care of her, she got healed, she was counting fingers from the doorstep.
00:35:01.519 --> 00:35:03.440
We were standing out in the front, front lawn.
00:35:03.519 --> 00:35:04.400
She couldn't see that far.
00:35:04.480 --> 00:35:08.159
Everything was blotches and blurs in that left eye that she could see out of 10%.
00:35:08.719 --> 00:35:14.000
So, this is the stuff that I got exposed to early on when I first got saved, and it was like crack to me.
00:35:14.159 --> 00:35:16.000
I was like, oh, this is real.
00:35:17.039 --> 00:35:20.320
I pray for people, I would feel the presence of God.
00:35:20.639 --> 00:35:25.920
Um at that time, it felt like just um intense heat or fire that would come out of my hands.
00:35:26.000 --> 00:35:27.519
I could feel it come out of my hands at times.
00:35:27.679 --> 00:35:32.480
And then God took the manifestations away, like the actual tangible sensations where you could feel it.
00:35:32.639 --> 00:35:37.280
And I think he was trying to train my faith not to be dependent on what I was feeling because I trusted it so much.
00:35:37.440 --> 00:35:37.679
Yeah.
00:35:37.840 --> 00:35:42.159
And he was like, I need you to believe me, even if you don't feel my spirit moving.
00:35:42.480 --> 00:35:43.280
I was like, okay.
00:35:43.440 --> 00:35:47.280
And so that led to you know, people getting saved and miracles and things like that.
00:35:47.440 --> 00:35:53.280
So all of that was kind of like in my first couple years of being saved, but it was birthed out of intimacy.
00:35:53.599 --> 00:35:57.360
So my first time spending that time with the Lord that you were cultivating that relationship.
00:35:57.679 --> 00:35:58.400
It was all prayer.
00:35:58.559 --> 00:35:59.679
I would be in the word.
00:36:00.159 --> 00:36:03.519
Um, as soon as I graduated high school, I did my first fast.
00:36:03.599 --> 00:36:06.880
I locked myself in the room for three days, didn't eat, just drank water.
00:36:06.960 --> 00:36:10.159
I'm like, I'm gonna stay in here until Jesus reveals himself to me.
00:36:10.320 --> 00:36:11.280
And that's all I did.
00:36:11.360 --> 00:36:15.280
I go in and out of times like that and then go out and minister to people.
00:36:15.519 --> 00:36:21.920
But it was really just about intimacy with the Lord because I didn't have a platform, I didn't have a ministry, I didn't have some big calling.
00:36:22.000 --> 00:36:26.239
All I knew was every time I come to read this Bible, it feels alive to me.
00:36:26.480 --> 00:36:27.920
I feel like I'm eating a meal.
00:36:28.079 --> 00:36:32.000
I feel like I ate even though I didn't have physical food.
00:36:32.079 --> 00:36:36.000
It was the weirdest sensation to feel full even though I didn't eat anything.
00:36:36.320 --> 00:36:38.239
So I knew he was bread.
00:36:38.320 --> 00:36:40.559
I knew he was substance because I was like, there's no way.
00:36:40.719 --> 00:36:41.840
And why do I feel happy?
00:36:41.920 --> 00:36:42.800
I was usually angry, right?
00:36:42.880 --> 00:36:43.760
I had anger issues.
00:36:43.840 --> 00:36:45.599
So I was always irritable.
00:36:46.159 --> 00:36:48.639
And so that was kind of when I met the Lord.
00:36:48.719 --> 00:36:53.119
That's a long answer, but that's kind of what led to the start of my journey.
00:36:53.360 --> 00:36:55.760
But there was no ministry, there was no nothing at that time.
00:36:55.840 --> 00:36:57.920
I was 18, 17 when I got saved.
00:36:58.079 --> 00:37:01.599
And so going into my 18th birthday, I was going into college.
00:37:02.079 --> 00:37:03.119
I didn't know anything.
00:37:03.199 --> 00:37:05.599
I was just like, my whole world just got flipped upside down.
00:37:05.679 --> 00:37:06.960
I don't know where God wants me to go.
00:37:07.039 --> 00:37:10.320
I'm gonna start here at this university and I'm gonna trust that you're gonna lead me.
00:37:10.480 --> 00:37:11.599
So that's kind of it.
00:37:11.760 --> 00:37:12.880
That was a long answer.
00:37:13.119 --> 00:37:14.079
I love your answers.
00:37:14.239 --> 00:37:17.760
No matter how long they are, somebody need I'm shortening them.
00:37:18.079 --> 00:37:23.280
Somebody needs to hear every at least, you know what I'm saying, 100% of what you said.
00:37:23.679 --> 00:37:27.280
Um 17 when you guys say 17 is the number of victory.
00:37:27.679 --> 00:37:29.519
Yeah, it's very pathetic.
00:37:30.000 --> 00:37:33.679
You really the the testimony is beautiful.
00:37:34.320 --> 00:37:44.079
It's like you realize from that conversation that that was the start of it, he don't care nothing about this building, he wants relationship with you.
00:37:44.480 --> 00:37:49.760
And then you went on to cultivate a relationship, like when the Bible says, if you seek me with your whole heart, you will find me.
00:37:50.239 --> 00:38:01.199
You found him, but not only did you find him, you found his power at work, you found areas where he was able to be glorified and it literally transformed you.
00:38:01.440 --> 00:38:06.000
Do you still see miracle signs and wonders to that magnitude today?
00:38:06.320 --> 00:38:11.760
Yeah, I think it's more about if I'm actually actively going out and praying for people, usually.
00:38:11.920 --> 00:38:14.559
Um, but then it's also just in passing.
00:38:14.719 --> 00:38:20.239
So much of it for me became more about the prophetic side because that's the gifting that I feel like God started to really develop.
00:38:20.480 --> 00:38:27.840
Um, but whether you have the gift of healing or not, or the gift of the working of miracles, when you declare the gospel to people and pray for people for healing, it happens.
00:38:28.000 --> 00:38:36.320
Yeah, God does things, and so um, sometimes it's not just miracles in the physical body where it's like um sicknesses or ailments or things like that.
00:38:36.400 --> 00:38:38.400
I still pray for that and I believe God for healing in that.
00:38:38.559 --> 00:38:42.159
Sometimes it's the mental, sometimes it's the healing in the mind.
00:38:42.320 --> 00:38:45.039
And so I've seen more stuff like that in recent.
00:38:45.360 --> 00:38:47.920
Um, I'm thinking about a girl that was tormented by dreams.
00:38:48.000 --> 00:38:52.480
She was in our small group um here in Dallas, and she couldn't figure out what was going on.
00:38:52.559 --> 00:38:54.159
I was like, Well, that's a demon.
00:38:54.480 --> 00:39:01.519
And so we took authority over it and said, Hey, yeah, in Jesus' name, we take authority over this spirit that's tormenting you.
00:39:01.599 --> 00:39:02.960
It's a spirit of fear.
00:39:03.199 --> 00:39:11.440
Um and she reported back to us that week that that was the first week since the night we prayed for her, she had no more bad dreams.
00:39:11.679 --> 00:39:11.920
Wow.
00:39:12.159 --> 00:39:14.480
But I remember starting to pray for stuff like that back.
00:39:14.559 --> 00:39:23.199
I remember the first time I prayed for something like that was in uh at least that I can remember, was in 2012.
00:39:23.679 --> 00:39:30.239
And a friend that had watched um a movie, she couldn't figure out why she was having these issues.
00:39:30.400 --> 00:39:44.880
She had bad anxiety, she had panic attacks, her dreams were um multiple per night, and she was having um, you know, just they were violent, violent, violent, like grotesquely violent dreams.
00:39:45.039 --> 00:39:46.719
And uh it was affecting her job.
00:39:46.800 --> 00:39:50.320
She couldn't go in and just work a normal job and have a normal shift.
00:39:50.400 --> 00:39:53.679
She kept having to call out and she was on the brink of probably losing her job.
00:39:54.480 --> 00:39:56.480
And so it was, it was affecting her whole life.
00:39:56.639 --> 00:39:58.079
And she came to me frantic one day.
00:39:58.159 --> 00:40:01.360
She says, Hey, I can't figure out what's going on.
00:40:01.440 --> 00:40:06.800
But like I have this issue with you know um my sleep and anxiety.
00:40:06.960 --> 00:40:07.760
Like, I don't know.
00:40:07.840 --> 00:40:12.159
And so when we asked a series of questions, we found out what the route was.
00:40:12.320 --> 00:40:21.119
The open door was she had watched paranormal activity, and that was the doorway for that spirit to come into her house, into her life.
00:40:21.360 --> 00:40:23.760
And so I said, Okay, so here's what's gonna happen.
00:40:23.840 --> 00:40:25.119
We're gonna pray for you.
00:40:25.519 --> 00:40:28.960
This demon's gonna leave you alone, and you're gonna sleep like a baby tonight.
00:40:29.039 --> 00:40:30.000
That's literally all I said.
00:40:30.079 --> 00:40:32.400
And I said, the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
00:40:33.119 --> 00:40:35.920
Jesus is this Lord over your dreams and over any demonic.
00:40:36.239 --> 00:40:38.400
Prayed that, and then boom.
00:40:38.880 --> 00:40:45.440
Um she told me that night was the first night she slept, a full night's rest, didn't have any nightmares.
00:40:46.400 --> 00:40:47.199
Wow, glory.
00:40:47.519 --> 00:40:49.440
And then she wasn't being tormented by that anymore.
00:40:49.679 --> 00:40:55.039
And so uh she had complete peace, and she said, Alton, I literally slept like a baby.
00:40:55.679 --> 00:41:05.199
So I say that healing is just it's it's so much more than just like the miracles of cancer being healed or something like that, right?
00:41:05.280 --> 00:41:07.519
Or just the blind scene or something like that.
00:41:07.760 --> 00:41:13.440
Um, I've seen miracles still to this day where the Lord is doing it across the board in different ways.
00:41:14.000 --> 00:41:18.320
And so um, it just sometimes depends on what are people asking for prayer for sometimes.
00:41:18.559 --> 00:41:24.079
And I'm always willing to believe, but I've also had to trust the sovereignty of God because my own father passed away from cancer.
00:41:24.960 --> 00:41:30.800
So, in the same way that I've seen people get healed, I've also seen it to where it's like, oh, the Lord didn't heal my father, right?
00:41:31.199 --> 00:41:33.039
And he passed away from cancer in 2015.
00:41:33.119 --> 00:41:47.199
So things like that, I've had to I had to rework my faith around what trust looks like in the area of healing, trusting that Jesus is able to at all times, that he paid a price by stripes we were healed.
00:41:47.280 --> 00:41:52.639
Um, but also leaving room for there's things that I don't have answers for, like my father, and I live in that tension.
00:41:52.880 --> 00:41:55.840
So even when I pray for people, I'm like, you know what?
00:41:56.000 --> 00:41:59.440
I'm gonna believe for you because God can do anything, all things are possible.
00:41:59.679 --> 00:42:05.360
But I also hold the tension of even if he didn't in this instance, I still trust him anyway.
00:42:05.519 --> 00:42:10.559
Yeah, and I know that my dad might not be healed on this side, but we know in eternity he is healed.
00:42:10.880 --> 00:42:14.880
So the miracle is there regardless, whether it's in this life or not.
00:42:15.039 --> 00:42:23.440
But I love when God does miracles because it does testify to the gospel and his power and what he can do, and it affirms the testimony.
00:42:23.599 --> 00:42:40.239
And so even when the gospel was um given to the disciples and they went out, he says, Go into all the world preach, and it says the Lord worked with them, confirming the word with the accompanying signs that they laid hands on the six, that uh the sick that they would see, you know, people baptized, all the things.
00:42:40.320 --> 00:42:43.360
So, anyways, another long answer, but here we are.
00:42:43.599 --> 00:42:52.000
Um, okay, I want to shift gears to the topic of relationships, singleness.
00:42:52.480 --> 00:42:54.000
I really want to ask you.
00:42:54.159 --> 00:43:04.000
Yeah, because you have the wealth of knowledge and wisdom and all these things, this is a yes or no question for anybody who may be wondering, are you single?
00:43:04.239 --> 00:43:07.840
All right, y'all, please excuse me for this uh interruption.
00:43:08.159 --> 00:43:15.119
But we have to pause right here because this episode gets so good that we could not have it all in one.
00:43:15.199 --> 00:43:18.800
It's so potent and meaty that we're gonna have a part two.
00:43:19.199 --> 00:43:21.039
So, this is the end of part one.
00:43:21.199 --> 00:43:22.559
Thank you so much for joining.
00:43:22.719 --> 00:43:30.239
I pray that something that was said in part one blessed you tremendously, and that you will join us again next week for part two.
