Engineering a Better Future: Dr. Christian Komor's Vision for Colorado's Climate Policy

Earth systems science advisor, clinical psychologist, and independent Colorado gubernatorial candidate Dr. Christian Komar argues today’s political dysfunction and climate paralysis stem from “engineered disinvolvement,” misinformation, and a loss of respect for the scientific method. He warns accelerating feedback loops—permafrost methane release and weakening ocean currents—could erase humanity’s ability to meaningfully alter global heating by the mid-2030s, driving disasters, migration, and spreading disease vectors. Komar says emissions cuts alone are no longer enough; he advocates rapid, WWII-scale mobilization to build direct air carbon removal plants, paired with hyper data centers in eastern Colorado. His model uses a byproduct (R744) to cool chips without municipal water, recycles data-center heat to aid capture, runs on geothermal/solar/wind, and creates large job pipelines via carbon-derived products like fuels, fertilizers, and biodegradable plastics. He urges voters to pressure leaders to adopt direct air capture and rebuild civic cooperation (k4gov.com).

Christian Komor is a climate innovation advocate and Independent candidate for Governor of Colorado, focused on scaling direct air carbon removal as a practical solution to climate challenges. His work centers on turning captured carbon into economic opportunity—creating jobs, new industries, and infrastructure while addressing environmental impact. He joins us today to talk about how climate solutions can move beyond regulation and become a driver of real economic growth.
