00:01:58.719 --> 00:01:59.359
All right.
00:01:59.760 --> 00:02:03.280
So how do we escape the performance trap?
00:02:03.680 --> 00:02:08.240
You know, and find biblical freedom from perfectionism.
00:02:08.479 --> 00:02:10.639
I'll tell you, it is not easy.
00:02:10.879 --> 00:02:11.840
It really isn't.
00:02:11.919 --> 00:02:16.240
And it took me a very long time, and I had some hard lessons to learn.
00:02:16.560 --> 00:02:25.439
And that's why, you know, we talk about this because I know that I wasn't alone and that this is very common for women.
00:02:26.479 --> 00:02:36.960
Because modern women often learn the hard way, that striving for human approval is an unsatisfying trap.
00:02:37.520 --> 00:02:53.039
You know, it fosters perfectionism, people pleasing, and the toxic belief that worth and acceptance must be earned through performance, which is not what God intended for us.
00:02:54.400 --> 00:02:59.680
Breaking free requires a critical shift in mindset.
00:03:00.319 --> 00:03:05.680
So re-anchoring our focus on God to find true peace.
00:03:06.000 --> 00:03:08.800
And yes, it can be done.
00:03:09.520 --> 00:03:16.639
Leah's life demonstrates how to break free from the exhausting need to constantly perform.
00:03:18.719 --> 00:03:22.879
So, how did she move from rejection to redemption?
00:03:23.199 --> 00:03:30.000
Well, there's many lessons we can learn about our own worth or self-worth from Leah.
00:03:30.960 --> 00:03:47.680
You know, the enemy often traps women in a cycle of striving, using feelings of rejection and inadequacy to convince us that we have to work for God's love rather than living from it.
00:03:49.520 --> 00:03:54.000
Scripture offers a powerful counter narrative.
00:03:54.960 --> 00:03:59.439
One is divine worth is unearned.
00:04:00.400 --> 00:04:03.280
Okay, that's what scripture tells us.
00:04:03.599 --> 00:04:13.280
Um, and there's scriptures from Genesis and um Psalms, Galatians, and Ephesians that I listed in the transcript as well.
00:04:13.759 --> 00:04:23.360
Um, you know, God prioritizes the unchosen and broken, leading us out of striving.
00:04:23.920 --> 00:04:31.199
He does that for us and leading us into praise rather than striving.
00:04:32.000 --> 00:04:33.920
He loves us so much.
00:04:34.800 --> 00:04:44.639
Um, you know, performance all actually, scripture also tells us that performance cannot buy affection.
00:04:45.519 --> 00:05:04.959
And Leah tied her word to her ability to produce, naming her older sons after the pain of trying to earn Jacob's love, and believing that she had to produce children to win her husband's approval over her sister Rachel.
00:05:05.360 --> 00:05:10.720
She fell directly into the trap of performance-based acceptance.
00:05:11.600 --> 00:05:17.680
And it's a nasty little trap that you know all of us have found ourselves in.
00:05:18.399 --> 00:05:28.319
And thinking about the areas where you feel like you still have something to prove, you know, give that some thought.
00:05:28.399 --> 00:05:32.240
What are the areas that you feel like you still have something to prove?
00:05:33.040 --> 00:05:39.839
Striving to earn which should be freely given never satisfies.
00:05:41.680 --> 00:05:49.839
So, how do you shift your focus from human approval to God's unconditional love?
00:05:50.480 --> 00:05:56.879
Well, Genesis 29 illustrates a profound transformation in Leah's perspective.
00:05:57.199 --> 00:06:04.639
With the birth of her fourth son Judah, her heart shifted from pain to praise.
00:06:05.600 --> 00:06:15.839
And perfectionism is often just a fear of rejection, and it's disguised as high standards.
00:06:16.399 --> 00:06:21.439
But Leah realized she could not perform her way into grace.
00:06:22.000 --> 00:06:27.839
Instead, she declared, this time I will praise the Lord.
00:06:29.680 --> 00:06:40.879
So this week I challenge you to identify one task that triggers your perfectionism or people-pleasing tendencies.
00:06:42.319 --> 00:06:57.839
Set a realistic, that's the key word, a realistic standard, execute it without overpolishing, and spend the save time praising God for his unearned love.
00:07:00.399 --> 00:07:09.920
And also reflect on, I have a couple of questions for you to reflect on um as you start out the week.
00:07:10.240 --> 00:07:17.600
Okay, where in my life am I striving for human approval instead of resting in God's acceptance?
00:07:19.120 --> 00:07:28.720
And what performance standard do I need to lay down, put away, and at the altar today?
00:07:29.439 --> 00:07:34.800
What performance standard do I need to lay down at the altar today?
00:07:36.879 --> 00:07:40.639
This series has blessed you, and I I pray that it has.

00:07:55.279 --> 00:07:57.199
