55. Authentic Influence with Joshua Hoover

Entertainment or Hunger for God? Joshua Hoover on Faith, Authenticity, and Reaching a New Generation On the Show Up podcast, Pastor Hollins interviews 21-year-old social media minister Joshua Hoover about whether people are seeking God or just entertainment online, emphasizing faith as essential and built through the Word. Joshua describes his daily rhythm, being led by the Holy Spirit, and a mission to create “pathways” rather than temporary programs—using authentic, varied content to make Jesus viral. They discuss compassion for hurting people, the importance of family and a community of believers to “hold your arms up,” and why many young people have moved away from church: inconsistency, sugar-coated truth, ego-driven efforts, judgment without love, and a lack of replacement for what they’re told to leave behind. Joshua shares how prayer, Scripture, identity in Christ, and surrender help him endure storms, and he closes with an exhortation that viewers are seen, loved, and called to repent and follow Jesus.
