On this week’s episode of Long Gone, the boys start in the red-hot NL East, where the Phillies are picking up steam and putting pressure on the Braves. Do the Phillies have enough juice to overtake Atlanta? The boys break down what it will take to make it happen and what could ultimately prove to be the Braves’ Achilles’ heel down the stretch.
They also discuss the Astros moving on from GM Dana Brown and what comes next for a Houston organization entering another new chapter. Meanwhile, the Yankees are surging in the AL East behind an exciting group of youngsters. Has New York found its next winning core, or is this only the beginning of another spending spree with some new financial muscle behind the franchise?
That conversation leads the boys down the rabbit hole of modern analytics, player contracts and the way teams are constructed today—culminating in a red-hot take from Mikey that just might explain why Major League Baseball has evolved into what it is today.
With the season winding down, the boys bring back “Legit or Bullshit” for a second-half edition, putting some of baseball’s hottest storylines and trends to the test.
They round out the show with Fantasy Factory and Collection Corner, where Tyler “T-Pott” Nethercott joins the boys to discuss the latest hobby trends and a possible theory behind the Shohei Ohtani-saturated card market.
