The Community Formula That Builds Momentum

What if the missing ingredient between you and your biggest goal isn't more information, but the right people around you?

In this episode of Inside The Speakeasy, Eric Berman sits down with Stacey Lauren, founder of Do the Thing, to explore the power of gathering people around shared goals. Stacey shares lessons from building a staffing company to $35 million in revenue, navigating recessions, COVID, a major business transition, and her own struggles with visibility and imposter syndrome. She explains how those experiences eventually led her to develop the I'M GAME framework, a practical approach built around identifying your why, mindset, goals, accountability, finding your people, and education

Key Takeaways:
→ Stacey describes how, during difficult periods in her staffing business, she focused on finding the fastest path to generating revenue rather than immediately defaulting to cutting costs.
→ Stacey reflects on how her own discomfort with speaking, training, podcasts, and being visible limited the opportunity to amplify the business she had built.
→ Stacey shares that even as a CEO running a substantial company, she sometimes felt like an "unsophisticated CEO." Being around other leaders helped reveal that those feelings were far more common than they appeared.
→ Stacey's concept of "my people" isn't about surrounding yourself with people who think exactly like you. It is about finding people who are committed to a common goal, even when their perspectives and beliefs are different.
→ Stacey explains the importance of having both a macro goal and a micro goal, giving people a manageable action they can take today or this week rather than becoming overwhelmed by the larger objective.
