ACERCA DE ESTE EPISODIO
Have you ever hit a milestone you worked years for, only to feel the achievement go quiet the moment you crossed the finish line? This episode is for anyone who has chased success and still felt something missing underneath it. Host Niharika sits down with David Gottfried, founder of the U.S. and World Green Building Councils and co-creator of the LEED certification system, to explore what happens when we stop performing purpose and start listening for it.
David shares the idea of Soul Worth, a measure beyond net worth and self-worth, and reflects on decades of building a global green building movement he chose not to own. Listeners will walk away with a gentler lens on ambition, detachment, and what it really means to live in alignment with who you are.
About the Guest:
David Gottfried is the founder of the U.S. Green Building Council and the World Green Building Council, known as the father of the global green building movement and co-creator of the LEED certification system. He is the author of several books, including the upcoming Regen360, An Operating System for a Regenerative Earth, and has introduced the concept of Soul Worth alongside net worth and self-worth.
Key Takeaways:
- Purpose isn't something achievement eventually earns you, it's something you already carry, waiting to be heard rather than chased
- Underneath the urgency to achieve more is often old survival fear, wiring that once kept us alive but now just keeps us running
- Soul Worth, alongside net worth and self-worth, asks what you've contributed rather than what you've accumulated
- Quiet, unplugged moments, a walk, a pause, a Sabbath, are often where real clarity and self-awareness actually surface
- Letting go of ownership and ego can be harder than building something in the first place, but it's where real freedom shows up
- You don't need to choose between making money and making meaning, wealth can accelerate hope instead of just accumulating for its own sake
