Does anyone else have to spring out of bed and work with a Hawthorne supporter as we do? We love you Patty. Coming up on the program this morning, we'll be chatting with the President of the AMA. They're calling for e byte restrictions on the basis of age. This is really interesting based on the injuries they're seeing and want some tighter policing of things. What exactly are they calling for we'll find out after six thirty. Really excited about the Golden Sack Truck if you can. It might be just out a shot in the Facebook and YouTube livestream, but it is standing on a pedestal at the moment because it will be awarded for the first time today before seven o'clock. The Golden Sack Truck, and of course it's founder, Rob is going to be giving away a skip bin and collection from He's wonderful waste disposal company. So it's all on the line for the sack truck and government stuff ups this week. Lots of terrific nomination, still plenty of time if you'd like to nominate one and eight double two three, double o double oh. We'll also be chatting with Michael Packy in the Nation's capital, Michael Smith with a really fascinating flashback this morning, and we continue, of course the World Cup of South Australia.
00:01:27
Speaker 4: David, it's your body, God bless you. This gift a little sister, David.
00:01:42
Speaker 5: Happy birthday, David pennmurthy David had We had to put Paddy through that humiliation ritual just for the.
00:01:53
Speaker 3: Beautifully happy birthday to you mate. That's from the Michael Jackson Simpsons episode, the episode where who is it The guy gets locked up with Michael Jackson? Doesn't he in a mental asylum? Well, it's the guy. He's mentally unwell and he thinks he's Michael.
00:02:11
Speaker 6: Jackson of course, of course, but isn't isn't he played by Michael Jackson. That's Michael Jackson singing yeah, yeah, the real Michael.
00:02:18
Speaker 7: Yeah.
00:02:19
Speaker 3: But it's a guy that the conceit of the episode, it's some guy who's got it. He's unwell and he thinks he's Michael and he looks nothing like him.
00:02:25
Speaker 6: Then at the end of the episode he gets a stamp on his hand, says Sane, that's right, Yeah, that's right.
00:02:30
Speaker 3: When he's all better for the Matre, for that for the Matro. This morning, thanks to Sam of the team, Winsor meets Doothy Street at Malvin come up with a present for David Penberthy. What are we getting David for his birthday?
00:02:41
Speaker 8: Eight?
00:02:41
Speaker 3: Double two three, double O, double O text and zero before zero eight thirty ninety five. What's the dream birthday present for d Penberthy? What are you going to get him? Folks? I want to get you a Sleeper Mods T shirt with decent Bacon written on it. Ah, that would be happy? Would that be so strong? That smells like decent Bacon? Says decent Bacon was given Sleep and Mods seven people know the reference and everybody goes, that's awesome.
00:03:05
Speaker 6: I would wear that T shirt. Decent Bacon sleep withd Mods? How good are they? Actually? We'll cancel my birthday? Oh yeah, you have you this week sucks. This week sucks. My favorite uncle died last week. We had his funeral funeral on Monday. God rest your soul, Uncle Bruce. Both my young sons have got COVID now, so we've been at home keeped up. I want to keep them away from certain people who are unwell and my family and elderly in my family ahead of Monday, so we thought we'll have a nice quiet night in last night. Spoke to the older kids and they said, Dad, we've got these plans for you, but given the oral tiptoe around each other at the moment, it's now going to be your birthday on May thirty, so you're.
00:03:52
Speaker 3: Going to have to do all this again. Really, well, that's a Saturday though.
00:03:56
Speaker 6: So oh sorry twenty nine. I was trying to I was trying to add seven twenty two and I came up with thirty. I met next Friday.
00:04:04
Speaker 3: So we thought we'd have a.
00:04:05
Speaker 6: Nice relaxing night last night watching the Craze game.
00:04:07
Speaker 3: And we were did that workout beautifully? Well? So we are we going to wait for Tom Wren for our thoughts on the footy last night?
00:04:13
Speaker 7: No?
00:04:13
Speaker 6: You go, you go?
00:04:16
Speaker 3: You know what, let's let's let's have us. Let's start with the celebratory Friday morning. It is your birthday, and a few people have caught in with birthday present ideas for you, David. Maybe a calculator. Maybe that would have been a good present in light of the day issue.
00:04:29
Speaker 6: We just another one of my favorite songs, not by the Sleaford Mods but by craft work aims Opeta of my pocket calculator.
00:04:35
Speaker 3: Well, there you go, Sam in seven and good morning. What are you getting David for his birthday?
00:04:40
Speaker 9: Good morning, David, happy birthday too, Thank you.
00:04:44
Speaker 10: I enjoyed.
00:04:45
Speaker 9: I enjoy yourself now, David, because you're in broadcast and you did sing in the band right with the police band. I'm going to get you a golden microphone.
00:04:56
Speaker 3: Oh lawsy? Yeah, yeah, hello old a gold microphone too, does he? I reckon not anymore?
00:05:07
Speaker 6: Took it off him.
00:05:08
Speaker 3: I reckon South Australians wouldn't go for a gold microphone. I reckon of this state. If someone jumps on a radio state it puts with a golden microphone on everyone. Half the audience is NA. This is no longer for me.
00:05:20
Speaker 6: That's there's so many self absorbed by idiots in the media. Well, the idea that you would do any of that. Well, the day you and I wind up here, we just we go and see mate, aren't we Yeah, well we'll stay in touch, but we're not. There's no well, there's no ob, there's no my life and legacy.
00:05:37
Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, this is the this is your Life episode. It don't come in sound like a terrible old grump on my birthday. Oh look, you've given appropriate context. I think COVID death in the family and your footy team can't be any other side. What did you any good at all? What did you think of the game?
00:05:55
Speaker 6: Will come? I'm really trying to encourage unload say some of the stuff you were saying off here.
00:06:03
Speaker 3: I think it was the word. I think the most honest and worst thing you'd say about it is it's totally predictable watching Adelaide fall short against sides who are actually good. And I think my big picture thought is this. I think a lot of Crow's fans and me included, thought last year was a signe this is a really good side that fell over in finals, when maybe the reality is this is a really average side that had a dream run in the mine around that fell into the finals. That's right, and that was who they were, and we're seeing who they are and who they are as currently constructed as a team that doesn't beat top eight sides. And that's a sobering reality when we're how many years into this this build? What is it twenty twenty six? We've been on this merry go around now for a long long time. Pre COVID pre covid. Yeah, crikey, Sally and hill Chrest. What are you getting David for his birthday?
00:06:58
Speaker 6: I forget hey, Javis, Thank you, Sally.
00:07:01
Speaker 11: I reckon you deserve your own personal Mexican chef for a year.
00:07:06
Speaker 6: Oh wow, Oh love that.
00:07:07
Speaker 3: That would have to be a good chef. Sally.
00:07:10
Speaker 6: What are we having for dinner tonight? I love it.
00:07:14
Speaker 12: I think you could have a year off of cooking and just how long your favorite meals every day?
00:07:20
Speaker 6: That would be an excellent, excellent thing, Sally.
00:07:22
Speaker 3: I love that idea. Thank you, Sally. Let's go to Grange of anybody gett David for his birthday?
00:07:27
Speaker 7: Well, happy birthday for starting.
00:07:29
Speaker 13: But you know something I reallyss you give you the number one ticket holder at Sturt?
00:07:36
Speaker 3: Do they do that?
00:07:36
Speaker 6: Who is the number one to get holder at strt uh Mott. Yeah, I can't take it off Motts.
00:07:43
Speaker 3: That's tough.
00:07:45
Speaker 6: Well, they've got those. They do the number two to go hold Who've got ambassadors at stir Me and Tim Rogers. How about that two people with significant history.
00:07:55
Speaker 3: You take that role very seriously because you often bring Stirred up.
00:07:59
Speaker 6: I have mentioned it one.
00:08:00
Speaker 3: Yeah, I've noticed that David Albott in Good Morning Morning boys.
00:08:04
Speaker 7: I'm loath to interrupt that uplifting football discussion, but happy birthday, Dave. I know what you need, mate, I'm more than anything. You need an automatic character.
00:08:17
Speaker 3: We don't want to do we I love that idea. That's a good deep cut. That's one for the people who been listening for a long time. Oh thank you.
00:08:28
Speaker 6: Some of the things you get accused of from time to time.
00:08:30
Speaker 3: Absolutely right eight double two three double o double my favorite one that we've gotten so far, And there's so many texts that will continue to get to but I think this is excellent. Russell says. I think we should get David a Josh for Shelley handwritten message footy. Oh, I would love that you cherish that. Yeah, something heartfelt from Josh.
00:08:48
Speaker 6: Well as my teenage son said yesterday Wednesday night rather Thhan we're talking about that. He said, Dad, if we had one of those Josh Or Shelley footballs, we'll put it on the man Peace bloody Jim So anywhere we go.
00:09:01
Speaker 3: Thanks to Sam at and the team at Windsor meets Doothy Street at Malvin eight double two to three double double. What are we getting David for his birthday? Some great suggestions coming through. We'll get to some more shortly.
00:09:14
Speaker 1: Knockdown build two with metro homes, move into one and keep the other as an investment. Metro Homes. They do it all for you.
00:09:22
Speaker 2: Deevid pen Birby and Will Goodings five double a breakfast.
00:09:28
Speaker 3: Twenty two after six A lot of fun with the Metroy this morning. On the occasion of David's birthday. We're asking what you'd give him as a present. Thanks to Sam the team at Winsor meets Dootheye Street at Malvin someone is going to win the meet Trace someone too is going to be the inaugural winner of the Golden Sack Truck. We're going to give that away before seven o'clock. If you've got a very late Golden Sack Truck entry, which is of course for a government stuff up at state, federal or local government level. Let us know and you could be in the running for the inaugural Golden Sack Truck. Do you want to do a couple of texts? Any presence there you that have caught your eye. Old Russell's are probably not in the running to win. He's going to give me a personally signed DVD of the nineteen seventy eight Grand Final Rise. That's very funny, mate, and brought a smile to mirow. Thank you mate.
00:10:12
Speaker 6: Another one here from Peter and Marsten says he'd like to get me a black forest cake from the cheesecake shopping Hawthorn Go Stirt. He reckons that though we will win against Central's at only tomorrow, hopefully so poor old Central's day. They're in a bit of a struggling start. They're good, mate, Rob, the father of the Golden Sack Truck. He's proposing some Burrier tacos with an authentic consumme to dip them in, and a flan for dessert, which is what the Latinos call crem caramel. They call it flun And every single restaurant in Latin America serves even if they have neither desserts, they all serve crem caramel.
00:10:50
Speaker 3: Is that right?
00:10:51
Speaker 6: They have a cool way of cooking it too. They cook it in old biscuit tins and put them on a very low heat in the oven for ages in a Bay Marie. Then they take the lid off and they're done.
00:11:01
Speaker 3: Well, there you go, clad They're very thoughtful present rob eight double two three double double or textas on zero before zero eight thirteen ninety five. Your creative gift for David on his birthday could win you the meat tray thanks to the wonderful windsor meets on Doocey Street eleven point.
00:11:15
Speaker 6: You feel like you've got enough ol off your chest.
00:11:17
Speaker 3: Hit about that football though, were Oh no, I'm holding I'm trying to get through this so we can get to Rendy A bit quicker.
00:11:21
Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, good good.
00:11:22
Speaker 3: Eleven point five degrees outside you're really you're baiting me this morning here I am feels like eight point nine degrees top of twenty today, the days ahead twenty one Tomorrow, eighteen Sunday and a bit of rain actually zero to six millimeters same on Monday, zero to six millimeters eighteen nineteen Tuesday, nineteen Wednesday, nineteen Thursday. Every single day from tomorrow onwards has at least some sort of drizzle in the forecast. All right, let's talk forty. Big game last night, Huge Game Thursday night forty in Tazzy. Tom Rener is in the studio. Huge price drop on the new Mitsubishia six from thirty four nine ninety Drive Away Augustine Amtsubishi, Narlsworth and Mawson Lakes omorend. Good morning, what did you make of it?
00:12:02
Speaker 14: I'm exactly like you. I'll get to a happy birthday, David.
00:12:06
Speaker 6: Always nice to love working with you.
00:12:08
Speaker 15: Yeah.
00:12:08
Speaker 14: Likewise, it's been absolutely all.
00:12:09
Speaker 6: Love you guys.
00:12:10
Speaker 3: I love you. It's no where you'd rather be apart from in bed.
00:12:14
Speaker 14: Well, I reckon your mood, hits the nail on the head and I was watching it last night. We're all watching it. It's just so it's so bloody frustrating. You know, they got closed and in that last quarter they start the game, You're like, this is this is unreal? Yeah, and then they finished the game and you go they are all over them. Darcy Foggerty has that shot from the boundary to put them in front and it felt like if they got in front, they've got to win, but they didn't, and you know, again, they walk away honorable loss, and you go, it's so close, but it's not so six and five. That's where they are, and they've got a really difficult month coming up after the bye. And I think compounding it as well as that injury to Isaac Rankin, But I.
00:12:51
Speaker 6: Mean, they shouldn't paper over what was a really bad performance because Rankin's injury. Yeah, Archie being under a cloud. All that happened after we'd totally dozed off and making each in the second.
00:13:00
Speaker 14: Quarter seven got like, I don't know about you guys, No, I think so. I think there are a few of us probably at home going throw Dan Curtain on the ball.
00:13:08
Speaker 3: Well they did, but it were about four minutes.
00:13:10
Speaker 14: Left totally, and Blake Hardwick like, sam Mitchell, you go, now, I don't have to Crows, but what a genius move Blake Hardwick swinging and forward.
00:13:18
Speaker 6: He won the game.
00:13:19
Speaker 3: Sam Mitchell was a coaching master class last night. He won the game. So Blake, Josh Warrell and Wayne Miller have probably been arguably a Crow's best two players this year, certainly in the conversation. Given so much drive of half back Josh Ware, I've never seen him dismantled like that before he was made him accountable. Hardwick goes forward and kicks four goals. The leading goal are going to get a low scoring game. That first quarter. Sam Mitchell allows his midfield to go head to head because in the finals their midfield destroyed out and you can remembering John, you can win Berzik. So he went, let's just let's just let's just take the shackles off and let these two midfields go headhead and that suited Adelaide, Becau, Dawson and Ranking go on top. And then he made an adjustment and didn't allow that happen. Chole comes in the ruck. You could see him making moves right throughout the game and look, it was just an absolute master class. He's a great. Great coaches get you wins in a game like that.
00:14:08
Speaker 14: In an arm wrestle game, yep.
00:14:10
Speaker 3: And they were down Jack Gunston, they might win the Coleman, Tom barrass or Australian defender. We'll day we sleep it. And it's hard to even camp Rov all day these days because he's never in the side.
00:14:19
Speaker 6: And I hate it when people go full cane corns and start potting players by name because they're all good people. But we've got a couple of standout passengers, haven't we.
00:14:29
Speaker 14: It was a bad game.
00:14:31
Speaker 16: Yeah, there were some.
00:14:31
Speaker 6: People just like really dragging this down. I think I don't know. I don't I don't want to get into the sort of whipping boy. But there's there's names that keep popping up on them.
00:14:41
Speaker 3: Okay, this is the way we we're gonna approach it at the moment, I think, Crows people, you've almost got a full list to pick from. So if you're ever in the it's time to make some hard decisions business, you can start making it right now because you're not you're not being forced into making too many selection The side on the park is the side the coach is choosing at the moment, and now ranking will be out of that so that'll hurt. But there is almost a full list pick from, so and there are hard decisions that need to be made because it feels that this is starting to get a real lost season feel to it. And if the Adelaide Football Club is in the hitting zone of trying to win a premiership, you can't afford lost seasons.
00:15:19
Speaker 16: Windows don't last long.
00:15:20
Speaker 3: They don't last do.
00:15:21
Speaker 6: Not last week you're talking about trying to get like a lucky Neil to come here because the windows open. Yeah, what would lucky Neil will be making them that game last night? Do we really want to go there for?
00:15:32
Speaker 14: Or Zachmarray shot at glory? I think Zach Marret is very much in the conversation. It's a huge month, like they've got. I just hope this Calf injury for Isaac rankins a niggle and nothing up didn't look great. I think Calf's three or four weeks and they got for the buye and also thank god he didn't come when he was doing run throughs, I was like, do not let that guy back out there totally, you know, and I love that he was wanting to get out there is competitor, but I was worried. And then Archie I thought, but thankfully it looked like maybe just the thumb and he should be okay, and then Peteling might be concussed. I reckon he got but thankfully he's got the week off so he should be okay in twelve days time. But talk about a big month coming up. Geelong Thursday, week. I mean, that's just huge bulldogs Away who were banged up. But what's the bet in three weeks time they might be starting to come into form four or five back showdowns in amongst all of that as well, Crows have got to go three in one over this next four weeks. Otherwise, well, I think it will be exactly what you say. I think it'd be a lost season. You cannot win the flag if you're outside the top six. In fact, I don't think you can win it from outside the top four.
00:16:42
Speaker 3: Problem is.
00:16:44
Speaker 14: The top two are just about locked in Free and Hawthorne, Free O and Sitney. You can't see them. The other team that's in that month that I spoke about is Melbourne who with the story of the season.
00:16:54
Speaker 6: They're playing very liberated football.
00:16:56
Speaker 17: Unbelievable.
00:16:57
Speaker 6: It's amazing what the absence of expectation can do for them.
00:17:00
Speaker 7: Yeah.
00:17:01
Speaker 3: Well, Stephen King comes in with a list that everyone went, well, they're going to take a few steps back. Maybe not. Yeah, what an author, What a job he's done between writing pet cemetery carry.
00:17:14
Speaker 14: Well, he's reinvented Jack Steele, who was on the Saint Kilda scrap heap and you know, Cossy Picking and Max Corner just about the most dynamic, you know, rock Rover combination going around. So look Adelaide. Though yet frustrating, there are some good signs. I did think Riley Philthorpe first three quarters, I was like, the guy's playing like he's worried, he's going to get hurt. Yeah, look last quarter I went there. It is there.
00:17:37
Speaker 6: It is starting to jumps were terrific.
00:17:41
Speaker 14: But look, they'll get Keen back, they'll get Walker back, They'll you know, there are some positives coming back for the crazy. It's not totally lost, but it is.
00:17:48
Speaker 3: It's eminently frustrated. If he's rocking, ready, what was Toby Murray playing?
00:17:52
Speaker 16: Yeah, what was.
00:17:54
Speaker 3: The science behind Anyway, We don't want to get into much of the weeds. That's for the Sports show to talk about tonight. But yeah, mediocre.
00:18:00
Speaker 6: I still feel like Wolve's got more rage left in folks.
00:18:03
Speaker 17: Got to let it out.
00:18:03
Speaker 6: I think the thing is, I think both Crows listeners and port listeners enjoy it.
00:18:06
Speaker 3: It's a long season, David, It's a long season.
00:18:09
Speaker 16: Got on, you.
00:18:10
Speaker 1: Boys, knockdown build two with metro homes, move into one and keep the other as an investment metro homes.
00:18:21
Speaker 2: They do it all for you. Deep with pen Birbe and Will Gooding's five double a Breakfast.
00:18:26
Speaker 3: Twenty to seven. Things are getting serious in the studio. The Golden sat Truck has just taken up a position on what's that mic five and has a headset on there. It is on the YouTube live stream this morning. If you're watching along, the Golden SAT Truck will be awarded for the first I doesn't speak.
00:18:40
Speaker 6: I don't know. Does it have a voice where you could create one using artificial intelligence?
00:18:44
Speaker 3: That's true.
00:18:44
Speaker 6: We'd better be careful, you know. I mean there's probably some bean canon in Sydney. Not not at Nova, but certainly like some of the other radio stations at the moment, like well, like getting in a media of politics post saying anything about anyone but rationalization and so forth, consolidating of things in head office. Imagine if someone from a rival network, you know, because they're much more flint hearted than the generous and decent people running over, but someone might go, you know, that Golden sack truck have got in Adelaide. It's become quite popular and people talk to the sack truck. They send messages to the sack Truck. The sack truck nominates them for things. If we just could somehow find a way of giving the sack truck a voice, because it already has a personality, Why are we playing these two idiots figures that are vastly lower than anything predicted by the Adelaide advertiser to cover in every Morning to Do radio?
00:19:39
Speaker 3: Wouldn't that mean indictment? Though? If a rival radio executive said I want to poach from the from the five double A Breakfast show, and they said, well, who are we getting? Who are getting? Are you going to make off for two?
00:19:51
Speaker 6: Not that Peny gos and ars all the time?
00:19:53
Speaker 3: Not no, not David the Golden sack Truck. And then suddenly we're listening to you know and on on SAFM, you know, Pete Steve and the sack Truck.
00:20:03
Speaker 6: Yeah, well this I was just gonna say, Bloke, I could imagine the world Saki they call him. Well, if it was on FM, they'd call him Saki. Yeah, but no, if it if it was, if it was the Evil Bean Counters running five double A Breakfast with Will and the sack Truck, and I'd be gone. Sounds like sports show sports shows the sack truck. Anyway, I'm not trying to do row or timate of a gigg that we are awarding the Golden sack truck before seven o'clock this morning, Rue dits in the sack truck.
00:20:31
Speaker 3: There you go. Now you're talking rudds in Saco sack eight double two three double o double with a Golden sack truck nomination this morning. I think I was just counting the list. We've got seven or eight nominations for.
00:20:47
Speaker 18: Imagine they have the sack truck appeared on TGB twenty years ago with Elan James Jones in the sack truck. Have you ever seen a more incompetent annette labor government than this one?
00:20:58
Speaker 6: I didn't think, so we go.
00:21:02
Speaker 3: I may listen to that. Actually that sounded all right. So Golden sack truck nominations, get them coming in. You'll you've got ten minutes left. Eight double two three double double government stuff ups at any level. This is an interesting concept that the AMA are putting forward with regard to how we license and monitor the use of e bikes. Obviously incredibly popular at the moment. I think a lot of drivers will have had that weird out of body experience you have when you're driving along at sixty and suddenly see an eed byke cruise up next to you. But the way in which they're policed for younger people is of particular interest to the AMA. Doctor Peter Subramanium, the state President, joins us, doctor Subermanium, good morning to you.
00:21:40
Speaker 8: Oh, good morning, good morning.
00:21:42
Speaker 6: Doctor Supermanium. I must say, when I hear things like this, I instinctively go, isn't it a good thing that kids are outside? Isn't it a bit sort of school marmish that we're fretting about it? But two points I think. One is these are different from normal bicycles, and the injuries are way worse. In second, they're not even really that good a form of exercise when you've got them in electric mode anyway, are they well?
00:22:06
Speaker 8: I think that that's something that we want to make sure we're not projecting in what we're saying about the legitimate use of e bikes. Getting kids out is important, and anything that encourages the kids to you know, lead their screens and get out to the outdoors is a good thing. And I you know, e bytes also have a role to play in terms of the environment. But what we're really talking about is ensuring that we've got the right framework in place so that we don't you know, the kids can't harm themselves. And the evidence isn't something that you know, we've sort of come up with. The evidence is actually there. As you said in your introduction, there's a lot of e bikes around. A couple of things is that we know that we're seeing more traumatic brain injuries that people who use e bikes than conventional bikes. And that would make sense because I mean, these things are supposed to be limited at twenty five kilometers an hour, but we are aware that there are ways in which you can, you know, either add an additional power or you know, get rid of the speed limitter. And that's the faster you travel, the more likely you're going to enjoy yourself. The problem is that we need to have compliance, not just you know, setting a standard, but compliance as well. And kids between you know, under the age of sixteen, if they get in trouble with an e bike, their risk of really badly hurting themselves is higher, which is why we think we should limit it. This is not a normal bicycle and I think you should be not allowed to ride it until you're of an age where you can control a powered vehicle.
00:23:52
Speaker 6: Would you say, Simon is driving a car six Yeah.
00:23:55
Speaker 8: I think that we've looked around in where what other countries have been doing, because e bikes have been in for a lot longer than they have been here, and in some European countries they've actually limited the age to fourteen. We think here a minimum riding age of sixteen, which is what Western Australia have already done and New South Wales they're heading to, would make sense. And I think it's the reason why you know WA NSW gonde is because they've kept data on people turning up to the emergency department. I think that's the key thing as well. It's important that we say please get on your bike, wear a helmet, rides safely. And of course in South Australia you could ride on the footpath as well, which is really that is a concern concern to us if you're traveling at you know, in fact it should be ten kilometers now, but I kept I can tell you I've got personal experience so walking down Cambillim Road and buying myself but you know, almost you know in the emergency department myself with a knee bake just coming past me. Well, I think pretty sure it wasn't ten kilometers now, No.
00:25:07
Speaker 6: And we're always love to hear from our listeners on this, because I reckon a lot of them would have had close shaves or even worse themselves. Thank you for that, Dr Peter SUPERMANI and the AMA State President. I actually had a great running with some you know whatever talks about good running with cyclists. The other day I was out for a run on a very narrow path and a group of cyclists were trying to get past and that they would someone ding the bell, and I thought, oh well, and when you're running ahead and there's people coming from mind, you've got no idea how many there are. And these group of old blokes, like it was like with military precision. The first one goes past me, five of us, mate, and.
00:25:39
Speaker 3: What in a daze. And then the next thus pass goes cup, there's come on to come. They're all a bit spread out. I'm the second last one, mate, says the last guy. The last go goes you're all good, mate, We're all through. I was what every one of the most courteous group of bike riding bikes I've ever seen in my life, older guys. Just I thought, what are you doing there? I was running, okay, cruising along. Yeah, as one of our listeners is texted us having.
00:26:03
Speaker 6: He got court running, I got caught. It's embarrassing. It is the way you run, it is the way I do it. I can tell you Gary that.
00:26:12
Speaker 3: Not exactly. Do you take your gym nest rimmon with you exactly? Gary? And Salisbury's called in with an odd idea.
00:26:18
Speaker 13: Gary, good morning, Yeah, it's all about the golden sack truck.
00:26:22
Speaker 12: Yeah, when I was delivery drivers to call one justin, but take it with me all the time, just in case I needed it.
00:26:29
Speaker 3: Justin the gold sack truck. Don't mind that at all. Gary. Well, he's got his own headset and microphone, so Justin will be very shortly over there. Michael Efron is at the Weather Bureau this morning. Michael Friday and the weekend ahead. How's it all looking?
00:26:43
Speaker 19: Good morning, David, and we'll pretty settled today. We do have a nice sunrise. We are headed for a partly cloudy top of twenty degrees. That high cloud building a little bit later today, but for Saturday pretty settled once again, the slight chance for showering, most likely later in the day. I love thirteen a top of twenty one, but then we do see the showers building on Sunday, expecting it around five millimeters. A love thirteen the top of eighteen, and then the showers looked like continuing into next week Monday. I love ten the top of eighteen again around five millimeters expected, and then a few showers each day for next week. Temperatures around nineteen degrees.
00:27:25
Speaker 6: Good stuff, Michael, thanks for that. Michael Efron there from the weather Bureau.
00:27:28
Speaker 3: All right, I see you. Camstable Scott James is at sapowl Scott. A man's been arrested for driving disqualified in Dover Gardens.
00:27:35
Speaker 20: Yes, just after midnight this morning, officers from Traffic Services Branch spotted at Kia Sedan on Neath Avenue at South Bryan, WHICHROS followed the vehicle onto Quintus Terrace at Dover Gardens, where the driver abandoned the vehicle and ran away on foot. Dog ups quickly on scene and police dog Arlo located the suspect hiding in play equipment in a nearby reserve and that was an eighteen year old man from Brighton who was arrested in charge with discuadif driving. He was then drug tested and provided a positive drug test in metmphetamine. So he was bowed to Chris's Beach Magistrate's caught on the ninth of July and my face further charges paying the results of that drug test.
00:28:13
Speaker 6: Yeah all sounds pretty pretty well, Scott. Also a drink driver has been caught in ken Park.
00:28:19
Speaker 20: Yeah so just after ten pm last night before I stopped the white twirty utility on the Anzac Highway and submitted the driver to a breath test which returned a positive result in zero point one nine five which is almost four times a legal limit. The thirty three year old man from warrid Hour was reported for drink driving. He lost his license for twelve months and we impounded his car for twenty eight days. Just a timely reminders from motorist that drink and drug driving is one of the fatal five causes of death and serious injuries in Soustralian roads and just don't drink drive.
00:28:47
Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely be good for got through everybody's head. Thanks for that, Scott, and have a good weekend. Seeing you. Constable Scott Jones from Sapole.
00:28:53
Speaker 3: Ten minutes to seven. We're awarding the Golden Sack Truck. On the other side of this brik, you've got a late nomination for government stuff up at local, state or federal level. Let us know otherwise. I think I was just looking at the nominations as the I've got seven or eight that we're going to go through right after this.
00:29:12
Speaker 1: Knockdown bill two with metro homes, move into one and keep the other as an investment.
00:29:17
Speaker 2: Metro homes. They do it all for you. Deep Big penberthe and Will Goodings five Double A Breakfast sixty seven.
00:29:25
Speaker 3: A little bit of history about our newest award on five double a Breakfast, The Golden Sack Truck awarded after the Childstit Council find Heart and Soul of charity delivering food to the hungry, the needy, the starving for having one tire on a yellow line, and in the process they said, look, we kind of get at the truck. It was in a position that was unsafe for the driver to one load. We're still finding you, but what will give you are three sack trucks. And so the Golden Sack Truck was born and here it is in the studio with this to announce the inaugural winner of the Golden Sack Truck, awarded to governments who just have gotten it wrong.
00:30:02
Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, and with the added layer of sort of priggishness that the Charlestick Council. Yeah, when we have come up with a compromise. Firstly, they're gonna have to come to driver education classes and they're going to get some sack trucks. But I know they're still playing the fine. It was just exquisitely done.
00:30:20
Speaker 3: So let's do it. Golden Sack track time. It looks magnificent by the way on the YouTube life stream. All right, let's get into some nomination, shall we. The Golden Sack Truck nomination comes through from an anonymous source from the Mitcham Council for closing Winston Avenue to do roadworks between Corford Avenue and Edwards Street, forcing traffic to the narrow side streets. Well you've got south road works going on, beautiful.
00:30:54
Speaker 6: I got a couple of quick ones here, Timmy. He nominated a Victorian for proving the Dan Andrews Statue. Quentin nominated the FEDS for increasing funding to union the budget, but not to the vocational education sector. And another one he with no name, just had a broader nomination for the justice system minutes.
00:31:16
Speaker 3: Totality, Andrew's got a nomination for the Adelaide Parkland's Association. I guess they felt they qualify as a sort of tier of government for failing to move the possom nest boxes and possum some trees that we mut to be cleared. Nick says, Albow would win it almost every week. I'm not sure that's a nomination. We'll have to get specific with them over the course of the time. But Nick, we appreciate the sendiment all the same, Nathan says, the whole Fast Bay Council, they are notorious for ditching out parking fines. Well, he says, he's a contract of SA Power Networks. This was a great nomination, he says. My work vehicle, fully signed as an SA Power Networks vehicle, parked in a loading zone reserved for people like me. I was there for three minutes, got a parking fine, parking ticket the offense stopping in a loading zone. Gobsmacked, says Nathan.
00:32:07
Speaker 6: Now that's that is hard to beat that Marty I Reckon is in the hunt too. Marty's mad. He's got photos of this which he's going to send in. He got fined for spending four seconds in a in a no standing zone four seconds one two, three four outside the Royal Copenhagen on Jenny Ray. This is a few months back. He was trying to find a part. Couldn't find one, of course, because you know they part with blunelg upgrade that decided to get rid of a lot of the car parks. So he drove around fifteen minutes, did a drop and run in front of Royal Copenhagen. The result was I was photographed and fined one hundred and twenty dollars for stopping for four seconds four seconds. He's down from Capunda. It would be nice to go to the bay.
00:32:59
Speaker 3: Some wonderful nominations for the Golden Sack Truck this week, which means all we've got left to do is announce the winner. And the winner of the inaugural Golden Sack Truck for this week will be announced by the Golden Sack Truck. Are we calling it Justin?
00:33:15
Speaker 21: Uh?
00:33:16
Speaker 6: Are we gonna announce it right now?
00:33:17
Speaker 11: Yeah?
00:33:18
Speaker 3: Now it's he is Justin's name? Should we call it justin the goal. We want to give it a name, the Golden sack Truck. It's over to you.
00:33:27
Speaker 22: Hey, it's me, the Golden sack Truck. This week's winner of the very generous Skip Been voucher courtesy of Allied Waste Services is Nathan. Nathan told us about the silly parking fine he got down at the bay. Well done, Nathan.
00:33:49
Speaker 23: On the live stream watching watching the YouTube stream of the sack truck.
00:33:56
Speaker 3: He's the stupidest we've ever done in these street the program. But it but that was excellent.
00:34:01
Speaker 6: I've already got its own personality.
00:34:02
Speaker 3: It really does save a good a bit of a It's American, which I didn't realize. I thought Chinese.
00:34:06
Speaker 6: We should get at a beer at the end of the show, a Friday knockoff.
00:34:11
Speaker 7: Kick.
00:34:11
Speaker 3: That would be excell you reckon. So the Golden sack Truck. Thank you. That was tremendous work there on Mike five, and big thanks to Rob two for not only coming up with the Golden sack track idea, but awarding giving us the first prize, a voucher for a seven cubic meter a waist skip courtesy of Allied Waste Services that's coming your way, Nathan for your running with the Holdfast Bay Council. Congratulations to them the winner of the inaugural Golden Sack Truck five. The online news is coming up in just a moment. On the other side of it, we are going to be talking with Mark McGill from Variety. Will award some best of s A tickets as well if you want to get along to our big night and nights Michael, Paki and ROWI looking forward to ROWI this morning. Do a couple of texts, David, I.
00:34:51
Speaker 6: Think there's been a collective nomination for the girls from Ipanema, the three mayors who went overseas to Rio last year for the Climate Summer, not the big one that didn't come to Adelaide. Yes and war why not throw me into the mix for next week. We've got a bus driver here from Woodcroft who also wants to give Mitch councilor mentioned for just how poorly designed some of the streets are around Winston Avenue for getting a bus through. And I'll tell you what you know what I reckon Will. This is something the guys really get into this afternoon. The text line is great, isn't it? Because it's uttered, unfettered feedback. He certainly is in real time about exactly what people think on political issues, court judgments and footing. It feels different this morning, isn't it. Yeah, it's got an edge to it.
00:35:45
Speaker 3: Yeah. A lot of people who have been content with the status crow and have set the crow status croween. A lot of people have seen the vision are starting to we've seen this before. Yeah, they're starting to waiver on the direction of the Adelaide Football Club.
00:36:01
Speaker 6: But someone what about that killer stat So it was way down the bottom now But paraphrasing, here we go. Guys. We've lost to ladder positions two, three, four, seven and ten. Our winds have coming against nine to eleven, twelve, fourteen, sixteen and eighteen.
00:36:15
Speaker 3: That's where we're at. Yeah, that's it. And well said.
00:36:21
Speaker 1: Trucks us knockdown, build TuS with metro homes, move into one and keep the other as an investment. Metro homes.
00:36:30
Speaker 2: They do it all for you. Deepd pen berthe and will Goodies five double a breakfast.
00:36:36
Speaker 3: Eight after seven. We're still recovering from the inaugural Gold Sack Truck Award and hearing from the sack Truck which if you missed out, if you're gonna have to download the podcast and go back and listen to because that.
00:36:45
Speaker 6: Was welcome aboard. This could have a new member of the team. It is, isn't that I call him Shaki.
00:36:50
Speaker 3: Saki. Saki came within budget, Szaki just thirty nine dollars plus a gold spray paint.
00:36:55
Speaker 6: Well on these impecunious economic times.
00:36:58
Speaker 3: Exactly right, these all times we have a meat trader giveaway. Speaking of austerity, the meat tray goes a long, long while. You could probably you can probably get a meat tray for a week. I reckon afterwards you'll get meals out of it, especially a great meat trailer like that which comes from Sam of the team at winsor meat Stooky Street at Malbourne. Asking you this morning to come up with ideas to give David Penbury on his birthday which is today. So what present would you like to give him? For example, to give you some just I'll just give your listeners a little bit of insight you that you can get him something that you think you would really like, or you could be like Joe Joe said, I'm just gift wrapping the fifty six minutes that the Crows didn't score a goal last night. It should be there by nine am. Thank you for that, Joe. That's magnificent.
00:37:42
Speaker 7: You know.
00:37:42
Speaker 6: At the moment that damn game finished, I said, stuff this for a joke. Let's watch something that will immediately reprogram our minds. So I put the TV onto the YouTube and said, let's watch. Because she's a big George Michael fan. So I said, I'm going to play one of your favorite songs, which is his duet with Elton John and let the Sun Go Down on Me. You know when you watch things on YouTube and you just go down these rabbit hole.
00:38:08
Speaker 7: Yes.
00:38:08
Speaker 6: And then I thought, it's a great live video, but let's let's do other great live videos. And I reckon the best live video of all time. And it makes me cry watching it. I just find it so emotional. We just played it coming out of the seven o'clock news, Born to run wide shot in New Jersey. Yeah, crowd, yeah, people, all of them as going side at the after the big build up bit, the highway gems were broken, heroes on the Last Chance Power Drive. It's just such a great bit of music.
00:38:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, it is just sensational. All right, let's talk about the bash. Mark McGill, the CEO variety, joins us because Mark, it sounds like you guys have been pouring over maps on big tables to try and work out how are you going to get this thing moving? Give it the rain we've had in large parts of the country. Good morning to you, Good morning boys.
00:38:57
Speaker 13: How are we hadyks?
00:38:59
Speaker 6: Mark a big deal? Fifty seven whatever?
00:39:01
Speaker 13: Thank you Pine's Varieties.
00:39:03
Speaker 6: Yeah, that's true exactly, Beans, Beans, the musical fruit. We did this as a breaking at eight a few weeks ago, didn't we And we did.
00:39:11
Speaker 13: With the we did with our four wheel drives, so we're we're not having a twenty twenty six hasn't been at that time so far. But anyway, so we've had to postpone our our four wheel drive which was going, if you recall, was going up to Gary Praiser Round. Yeah, because of our fuel supply issues. But this is a different, a different challenge in terms of our our mighty bash that was going to I guess the highlight was Birdsville. Now, you guys would be aware that between Marie and Birdsville is a new inland sea. That's without being too flippant, at some points you know, the Department of Transport saying there's roads that may not ever be opened again. So we had to make a and as it says, pivot to Piri, we had to make a call because you know, this is sort of fifteen months work that the BASH takes to develop. So that we got our skates and as you say, put the maps over the bonnot and we're taking off from period. The dates the same on eighth of August. So looking forward to it.
00:40:18
Speaker 6: I'll tell you what like in terms of the business activity for small businesses on Air Peninsula, a lot of them were knocked around last year by the Algill, Bloom and sol and they'll be pretty happy to see you all. I reckon Mark, it's enormous.
00:40:32
Speaker 7: And you know with this.
00:40:35
Speaker 13: It's not too distant memory that the drought that effect that the Air Peninsula as well. So I think from there's not a mayor or a bakery or that's not you Cab as well, Butler, it's not going to be absolutely rubbing the hands together because the economic benefit of the BASH creates and only that from a financial perspective, but just the the goodwill and the spirit of four hundred people coming into these small regional townships and cities. Injects a lot of money and a lot of good will. And also we do make tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of grants from our fundraising into these communities as well.
00:41:19
Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it's great that you found a way to do it, Mark, and.
00:41:25
Speaker 13: It's and Pember honestly, great credit to our team, Great credit to our volunteers who consistently just front up and take the challenge on board. And you know we'll have to I'm looking at the itinerary and corn to Kimber a couple of days in Streaky Bay. It's going to be hard to take. Wouldn Port Lincoln and then Cleveland, then we finish in Port period.
00:41:51
Speaker 6: No, it's a terrific group, Mark, and it's such a terrific event, raises so much money for such an important charity. Thank you for coming on, mate, and you're always welcome anytime because we do anything we can to get behind Variety here on the Breaky Show. Mark McGill, the CEO of Variety essay, it.
00:42:06
Speaker 3: Is David's birthday today, the twenty second of May, and for the meat tray, we're coming up with presents for him. Thanks to see him. The team winsor meets Doothy Street at Malven If you'd like to win the meat tray, come up with a creative present for David Pennburth the eight double two three double O double o H a textas on is he rid it before eight zero eight thirteen ninety five. You know what annoys me that your birthdays in July doesn't annoy me. You're never on air for it during the two week break. That's how I like, I like delive anonymously.
00:42:30
Speaker 6: We've never ever ever done anything for your birthday.
00:42:32
Speaker 3: And long may that. Let's long may that continue.
00:42:36
Speaker 6: Mental note before we take a break, let's do the no will like the monarch, no like King Charles. It's not King Charles's birthday in two weeks time.
00:42:47
Speaker 3: We just say that it is good to have him still with us, the King. After that mess up on the Caroline radio in the UK, I.
00:42:53
Speaker 6: Thought he was dead. I've never heard of that radio station before.
00:42:58
Speaker 3: No reason for that, not very to update their computer system joining us now the Queen Mother, Hang on, no we ca it is interesting. I did think that story yesterday. The idea that they all have to have a protocol in case the monarch dies in an era. Where as we said yesterday, you could slap up that bit of I mean, we had the Golden zack truck. That idea was generated during the segment and the Golden sack truck was talking by the end of it.
00:43:21
Speaker 6: I'm glad I saw on your excellent news service on the television last night, well channel seven. I was watching a bit of free to air when I said yesterday, had a vague memory of Australian newspapers stuffing up the Queen Mother story and aap getting it wrong.
00:43:39
Speaker 3: It was a snippet, wasn't it a tear off of the newspaper column.
00:43:43
Speaker 6: Yeah, it's crazing the things that stay in your mind. I'm glad I got that one right. I am you know one that apparently I got wrong because she had been in the mix. Apparently the governorship is still wide open. Tasha had been canvassed and I think spoken to you. Apparently there's there's no decisions being made yet, so it's still up for grabs.
00:44:09
Speaker 3: Could be our man, the commissioner still in play, still in play, well Fresher for victory over the incumbent governor of South Australia.
00:44:18
Speaker 7: This is it?
00:44:19
Speaker 3: Maybe Frances Maybe I think wouldn't that be something? So that would mean at this point in time, the leading contenders to become the next governor of South Australia are Grant Stevens and Travis Head's mustache.
00:44:30
Speaker 6: It's none of it's a slight on Natasha Stock displayer, but I think there's logistical reasons or maybe he's got other work commitments to you know, But apparently still very much alive discussion around who it is.
00:44:43
Speaker 3: Sixteen after seven eight double two three, double O double oh is the number for the meat trap. You've got a nomination that for something that David should get for his birthday.
00:44:50
Speaker 6: A lot of nice text, a lot of people saying Mexican cookbooks. Yes, always in the market for another Mexican cookbook, that's for sure.
00:44:58
Speaker 3: This is interesting. As someone said, I think radio Carolines related to the boat that rocked the Pirate radio station back from forty or fifty years ago. That the terrific movie that was the comedy about. Yeah, but that phenomena where you couldn't play rock music, could you? It was banned. You couldn't get a license to broadcast rock music. In the UK, and so they'd set up ships that would broad broadcasts from out at sea where there was no jurisdiction from the broadcast authorities. That's fascinating. Thank you to that texter A. It was zero thirteen ninety five.
00:45:30
Speaker 6: I think this text might be from my mum, says give him a hair brush point taken.
00:45:37
Speaker 3: Thank you, missus. Ben Birdie.
00:45:41
Speaker 1: Knockdown build two with metro homes, move into one and keep the other as an investment. Metro Homes they do.
00:45:48
Speaker 9: It all for you.
00:45:49
Speaker 2: Deep it pen Berthe and Will Goodings five double a Breakfast.
00:45:55
Speaker 3: Twenty two after seven A little bit later today with Stacey Lee after three glock Chris jarm in Pajama's Kitchen. That alway feels like the undividual start of the weekend. That's that segment for foody Friday, Building and renovating. Your first choice should be visiting the Smeak showing at Debnly distributors Taste the difference with Smeg and Pals. Now we have in our hands two tickets to our best of Essay dinner which is coming up on the twelfth of June, and in the process we are profiling some great South Australian businesses like Explorer Caravans.
00:46:27
Speaker 24: Today we're shining a light on Explorer Caravans. Explorer Caravans offers a complete caravan experience, Australia made vans, expert advice and everything handled in one place. And joining me today from Explorer Caravans is Daniel Benson. Daniel Explorer is Australia's largest Franklin viscount and titanium dealer. What's driven that growth?
00:46:47
Speaker 25: I think it's the family service that's driven that growth. The biggest thing for us is providing quality products that we're actually back and use, putting our names to brands that we can actually trust, and it makes it a lot easier selling a product that we've used before, we've known, we've trust a lot of people these days, they want a quality product, but they also want to be looked after, and that's that family service. As you grow as a family and a business, you start having a lot of repeat customers and referrals and that comes from a quality product and then exceptional after sales service, which is what we provide ourselves on.
00:47:22
Speaker 24: And why do your customers keep coming back.
00:47:25
Speaker 25: Having brands that are Australian made exceptional build quality, so Viscount Franklin a heritage Australian brands have been around a long time, and titaniums arguably the best off road luxury caravan on the market. When you provide something that ticks every single box, that doesn't have issues, and you look after these people on the road, they're going to start talking about how good Explorer caravans are to deal with, and they're going to tell their friends. But yeah, that's why people come back. They just like dealing with an Australian family that looks after them like family.
00:47:55
Speaker 24: And you get to Pat the mascot too.
00:47:57
Speaker 25: Yeah, Leo's he's sold quite a few caravans and I've I've actually sold a few dogs for my Breda as well.
00:48:02
Speaker 26: She's loving it.
00:48:03
Speaker 25: We've got about ten.
00:48:04
Speaker 1: Now, amazing.
00:48:05
Speaker 24: Well, thank you so much for your time, Daniel.
00:48:08
Speaker 3: We have a Navigator camping chair and two tickets to our best to say in a Friday the twelfth of June to give away right now eight double two three A double O double oh is the number to call. Invest in your lifestyle with a caravan from Explorer Caravan. So I'll see the range at Explorer caravans dot com dot Au.
00:48:28
Speaker 2: Stephen right on five double a breakfast.
00:48:36
Speaker 3: Certainly not the result we wanted last night, but again it feels like we've seen before. Stephen Roy, good morning.
00:48:41
Speaker 17: To you, oh Pember and Will, good morning.
00:48:44
Speaker 7: Look.
00:48:44
Speaker 17: I was a ted agitated, i must say, and more than frustrated postgame, as we're our callers. With the Crows lost to Hawthorne last night. It did have a touch of the same same as the way they lose, and again they're beaten by what they clearly now here's the thing and this is going to surprise both of you, Pemba and Will. The dust is settled. I've woken up early this morning and I'm choosing a less traveled path for me, a path of positivity, faith and hope for the Crows after the bye.
00:49:16
Speaker 6: That's not That's not the Row we know in love. I was hoping you'd be completely irrational. Our listeners have not worken up choosing peace this morning. By the way, Row a bit of context.
00:49:28
Speaker 17: Look, look, so can I can I just phrase it like this? This team and there's no doubt about that. You ask any coach and every player from other teams the other seventeen they have real fight. They will keep coming and they.
00:49:43
Speaker 3: Did last night. No, that was when you were coming fourteen this side premierships. We're going to do better than trying hard.
00:49:52
Speaker 17: Listen, let me go on fight. It's a great trait, you know that, and you can build a real foundation of a football club around it. Now, And you're correct, it's a hard thing to hang your hat on week in week out, year in year out, and I'm telling you it's a bloody hard way to play. Okay again, I think they lost some players in game in Isaac rank in the week before was comings and there was techs and butts. There is clearly a Burgo factor. Now that's not an excuse, and I'm not knocking the rooster that's in the chair now, but there is a Burgo factor. So we're six wins, five losses. I'm just painting a picture here. Work with me, guys. We're not shooting out the lights. You're right, We've had form an injury concerns, poor starts, poor quarters, poor games. We haven't played anywhere near close to how we got the ball moving last year or for four quarters. So our losses are six points to the dogs, eight points, Cats two points for hour nine points Hawks. Now, those four games could have gone either way, would you agree?
00:50:51
Speaker 3: Yeah, But if you're playing that game so too good of the one pointing. It's the one point that's exactly right, that's exactly right. And I knew you'd come back with that.
00:50:59
Speaker 17: But here's the thing. Their best twenty five from here can get it done. But there's a couple of things they got to do. And this is all on the coaches. This is on their messaging, this is what they work Monday to Friday. They've got to buy this week. Stop being reactive. If there is one thing that every Crows person tells me, why do we come out shadow box, Why don't we come out and get at the opposition, run straight back at him. Pick your four middies, pick your four middies, make some tough calls. Now. If it's peeling out, it's peeling out. Whatever they is, let's do it. If if the big feller, who's our big fellow curtain all summer Dan curtain sheet, lot play him. They didn't put him in the midfield to halfway through the third quarter. They're doing a lot wrong, but they are doing a lot right. So let's give them a bit of hope after the buye is what I'm saying.
00:51:54
Speaker 3: Well, Rob Texas the same.
00:51:56
Speaker 6: The season is not over.
00:51:57
Speaker 3: No, Rob Texas, who is the person? What have you done with ROWI.
00:52:03
Speaker 17: Well, here's the thing. Look, you know what, it would have been so easy for me to jump off the top turn Buckley and Pemba. I knew you'd expect that. But there's twelve games left. They got the buye, they got Cats Thursday Night Dogs at Marvel Melbourne.
00:52:19
Speaker 6: I think the thing is Rowie like and that text before we worked out we've lost to all the top eight sides, and we've beatn all the ones below us. Until such a time as we start beating the geelongs, beating the Hawthorns frios, We're just going to look like a sort of you know, making up the number side so the next there can't be another Hawthorn type loss, can there.
00:52:44
Speaker 17: That's exactly That's exactly right, and that is exactly right. And that's why I'm saying to you that little block of football. They've got the Cats Thursday Night Dogs at Marvel on the Thursday, and then Melbourne. After that block of football, we'll see whether they've had any correction, they're playing differently. Last night they went one kick to one handle. Now that's the first time they've done that in eleven weeks, so clearly they know they've got to change a few things. The midfield lose exactly the same way. And it's not as if they're not trying. They're into Locke Neil I said this postgame, they're into Zach Barley. They know they need some class through that midfield ranking goes down. It could have been a different story with his carf I mean, honestly, I think that's your story. There is all the soft tissue injuries and not having burgo at the club. But anyway, there's twelve games left. I choose that road.
00:53:29
Speaker 7: Now.
00:53:29
Speaker 17: It's not a road that I'm familiar with, and I'm very uncomfortable with it. I'm sitting in this chair going way on, Steve, and that's not you come off the top turn buckle. But there's twelve games left, fellas.
00:53:40
Speaker 6: Well, well, like you will believe it when we say it. Rowie, Hey, quickly, mate, you're confusing the listeners the garden.
00:53:49
Speaker 17: I'm confusing myself. I'm going to need to go down and have a little sit down.
00:53:53
Speaker 3: Hey, Trevor Gleason. Great signing.
00:53:55
Speaker 17: Oh my goodness me yep, great news to drop. I think it's going to be mid morning. They'll be oppressor for the sixers. Highly rated and highly sought after MBLL coach. He's a five time championship winner, Trevor Gleeson. He's going to coach the thirty sixes. He's going to team up with Bryce Cotton. The two of them won three together. Bryce loves him. He loves Bryce. Now it's not all about the two of them. They've got the list to do it now. Now they've got the coach. An announcement mid morning. That is absolutely.
00:54:25
Speaker 3: Huge. It's huge, great news.
00:54:27
Speaker 17: See you guys.
00:54:29

Thanks to the wonderful people at Windsor Meets on Doothy Street have been a part of Meet Trey Friday since the very beginning. We're asking you to come up with a perfect birthday present for David Pembert that he was celebrating his birthday this morning. Eight double two three double a double textas on zero four eight zero eight, thirteen ninety five. And Yuri in Beaumont has got a birthday gift idea morning, Urie.
00:56:15
Speaker 10: What dee?
00:56:16
Speaker 6: Hi boys, good thanks Uri, heavy birthday mister Pemberthy, My my my, my good friend. How are you all well going well, I'm very good, very very simple birthday person.
00:56:27
Speaker 10: If I saw your face to face today, I'll give you a hug and a peck on the cheek.
00:56:32
Speaker 7: That's from the old mate, Urie.
00:56:33
Speaker 6: You mate, that's that's that's some present you can't wrap. That'd be fantastic. It was great beginning with the kids the other day too, mate. Yeah, beautiful beauty.
00:56:42
Speaker 15: Yeah, that was fantastic.
00:56:44
Speaker 7: Yeah.
00:56:44
Speaker 15: I got to see your daughter finally, so I think, which is good.
00:56:46
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:56:47
Speaker 15: I gonna say, that's that weird guy from Beamont.
00:56:49
Speaker 12: James said, I know him.
00:56:51
Speaker 6: I've heard it.
00:56:52
Speaker 10: I'm the hood in.
00:56:52
Speaker 3: Did you know Jim said that to me?
00:56:54
Speaker 6: Goes that Uri, So.
00:56:58
Speaker 3: Good on you, Uri, peck on the cheek for a birthday gift. Thank you?
00:57:02
Speaker 6: All right, let's do better than an unpredicted increase in capital games.
00:57:06
Speaker 3: Who was going to say better than the gifts that have been coming from canber recently. Michael Packy is there our five doble? A corresponded Pack, good morning.
00:57:13
Speaker 10: To you, good morning and happy birthday, Pember.
00:57:15
Speaker 6: Thank you Pack Sycamore's attention. But no, very kind of you to say, heym So this national road show, the Rolling Elbow and Charmers road Show, do you think they I know, all of this has to get through the Senate, so there's that part of it. But do you think there's a chance that the government might sniff the breeze on some of these changes and go, actually, we've gone a bit too far here.
00:57:38
Speaker 10: Yeah. Look, I think that that's starting to happen. And I think this is what we were talking about last week when there's stuff about the trust was starting to come out to thirty percent tax on the discretionary Trust, which obviously the Coalition has gone out there and said this essentially amounts to a death tax by stealth, and I think that campaign has really cut through, and it does seem as though the government will make some changes at least on the trusts and potentially take out the discretionary part measure out of the trust legislation. But it'll be interesting to see what they do over the next week when Parliament resumes, to whether or not they decide to go a bit further on the capital gains tax discount changes. There is some suggestions that the tech sector is asking for a carve out from the capital gains tax changes, but whether or not they decide to support the tech sector but not other businesses, I think that remains to be seen. So I wouldn't be surprised that when it comes to the capital gains changes and the negative gearing changes, I think that they'll probably stay as is, and I think the government will you try and battle through some of the you know, the bad publicity that it's been getting on these changes, but it probably will, you know, it will make some changes on the trust's side of the equation. I know that the government wants to try and get this legislation through by the end of that is capital gains and negative gearing. It'll delay changes to trust though.
00:59:06
Speaker 3: Pack what's your interpretation of the post budget polling data that's come through it seems that people hate the budget, but not so much so that they're going to abandon voting for the Albanezi government.
00:59:17
Speaker 10: Yeah, I think the polling has been quite interesting, and you're right all poles that have been released over the past week or so essentially so that people aren't too happy with the budget. But I think what is interesting is that a lot of people are undecided about the budget. There's some people that don't like it.
00:59:33
Speaker 6: There's fewer that do.
00:59:35
Speaker 10: But then there's also this really I think a substantial portion of people that say they're undecided. They don't know what the budget is really going to mean for them. And I think it's because that there's this portion of undecided voters. Whether it's news in the news poll on whether it's the Resolve or the red Bridge or whichever pole that you look at, there is this thirty plus percent of undecided voters, which is what I think that the government's primary vote is holding up because I think that at this point in time, people are saying, I don't really know how this budget is going to affect me. I know that a lot of people aren't happy. I'm prepared to wait and see what happens and then make my decision as to whether or not I think I'll support the government or you know, start switching my support to the opposition. I think the only thing that the opposition can take out of the polling is that it does seem that their primary vote is gradually starting to improve. It needs to go a lot further, but it is gradually starting to improve. But the risk in all of this, and as we've discussed on a number of times before, is that One Nation support is still very high.
01:00:42
Speaker 6: It's a fascinating sort of moment in Australian politics, isn't it pack And it's one that is mirrored exactly in so many countries across Western Europe now where the party that the putatively right wing parties, center right parties like the like the Libs, and more conservative parties like One Nation.
01:01:03
Speaker 7: Yep.
01:01:05
Speaker 6: And Angus Taylors sort of alluded to this the other day, given that Labor and the Greens are sort of in terms of preferences, are to facto coalition anyway, Yep. Do you think there's going to be tough conversations this term about whether for the Liberals maybe One Nation are they new Nationals?
01:01:21
Speaker 19: Yeah?
01:01:21
Speaker 10: Look, I think there are going to be those tough conversations, and I think that those tough conversations are going to probably start happening. I would argue next year. I think that what the Liberals and the Nationals and that coalition is hoping for is that the One Nation surge starts to fizzle out. That's what they're hoping for. However, that if the One Nation surge doesn't show any signs of fizzling out, and One Nation remains the second most preferred political movement in Australia after Labor because generally Labour's got about thirty percent of the primary vote and you've got One Nation now in about twenty five or twenty seven percent of the primary vote, and then it's daylight with the Liberal and the Nationals. I think that if One Nation stubbornly remains in second place and the Liberals and Nationals can't seem to make any inroads, then I do think probably by next year there's going to be some serious conversation about whether or not they go to the twenty twenty eight election as a combined entity of the Liberals and Nationals and with the support of One Nation. I think that the Liberals and nationals are just waiting that little bit longer to see if that one nation surge is actually going to stick for much longer.
01:02:36
Speaker 6: I reckon to you, knowing Pauline Hanson pretty well at having been there when you and I got to know each other pack back in the late nineties, when she gave her maiden speech. One thing I would say with total confidence is that whatever happens will be done on Pauline Hanson's terms, because she there's no love lost between her and the Liberal Party given that they disendorsed her. She thinks that it was Tony Abbott's doing that she was jailed, So she's not going to go all right, well, okay, we accept that we are like a minor party. I actually think, and this is where I reckon, I wouldn't be surprised if Cory Bernardi here Inessa runs for Gray at the next federal election. She said on our show two weeks ago she's going to run in the lower House.
01:03:16
Speaker 3: Yep.
01:03:18
Speaker 6: You've got Barnaby Joyce looking at doing the same in New England, the targeting Western Sydney. Like, if this happens and they've gone from zero to seven, MP's over. I here in sa if their polling holds up, it's not fanciful to say they could be talking about being the government.
01:03:38
Speaker 10: Oh no, No, I don't think it's fanciful at all. And I more especially now, and I think that the fact that now when you look at two party preferred, it's now become labor one nation, Like that's what people, let's what polsters are starting to do. It's labor one nation, not labor coalition. So yeah, so look, I do think it's not fanciful, and I do think you're absolutely right that if there is some sort of alliance between the Liberals, Nationals and One Nation, a lot of it will be on one nation's turn.
01:04:06
Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah, amazing, great stuff. Pack always good having you on, mate, Michael Packing that you five double a Arab camera.
01:04:12
Speaker 1: Correspondent, knockdown build two with metro homes, move into one and keep the other as an investment.
01:04:21
Speaker 2: Metro homes. They do it all for you. David Penberthy and Will Goodings five double a breakfast six.
01:04:29
Speaker 3: To eight Grant and Christie Speech has got a birthday gift idea for David Grant.
01:04:33
Speaker 6: Good morning, tell you good boy here.
01:04:39
Speaker 22: Yeah, justlegs around sound TV system.
01:04:47
Speaker 6: Every I think Grants, you're let down by technology, mate. Sorry we couldn't quite make that out, Grant, but sounding for your sentiments reardless, thanks for taking involving your television.
01:04:59
Speaker 3: Yeah, it sounded like it was going to be fun.
01:05:01
Speaker 6: I think quite a few entries from nordd supporters today we suggested I should be given DearS Foster's whistle.
01:05:08
Speaker 3: Nord fans having a lot of fun with the tray Friday entry that said the the meat trays thanks to the team at Windsor meets Doocy Street in malvin if you'd like to win it. It is a great butcher shop. Calling with your thoughts on a birthday gift for David.
01:05:26
Speaker 2: It's time to flashback with Michael Smith.
01:05:30
Speaker 3: Seven News Flashback seven Sunday nights from six o'clock and Michael, Once upon a time, Dave would have been about to buy or someone had to buy him two tickets on a Faerry to Ki from Glen Elg.
01:05:41
Speaker 7: Well, that's right, so let's cook the annual Sorn.
01:05:43
Speaker 6: Birthday, which is gracious Miguel Moya Malyn.
01:05:51
Speaker 7: That's some one of your pals in Mexico who can't join you this morning.
01:05:54
Speaker 6: I'm sending up from Ta Goosey Galpa. Thank you, Mike, thank you.
01:05:57
Speaker 7: For remembering me. Is to Goosey Galper's favorite son Yees, it's been a long time sent I've been there.
01:06:01
Speaker 6: Some us going these days. It's got it an a few problems.
01:06:04
Speaker 7: As juris, I think it's probably still got one of the worst crime rates in Latin America and certainly the highest murder rate. Probably not a place I'd recommend as a holiday. Kangaro Island, on the other hand, is a nice place to go. Ho You guys might have heard that they've delayed the commissioning of these new ceiling vessels which are supposed topply the waters between Cape Jervis and Penashore first. We was supposed to be starting next month. So on flashback this week, we're going back in time to look at other fairies that have got people to and from the island. Not back to the days of the True Bridge or the Island Seaway which went from Port Adelaide, but specifically when there were fast fairies that went from Gleameil. Great idea in theory linking two of our most popular tourist zones. I mean the idea you could catch it a tram to the bay, then jump on a ferry and be on Ki in a couple of hours. Didn't necessarily all go to plan though. The one that people might remember the most was called the super Flight. This was launched back in night ninety four, very sleek looking vessel that had come here from Western Australia where it had been working in the waters between Frio and Rotten Nest Island. Held about five hundred people and get to there in a couple of hours. Have listened to a little of this report from when it was launched from John Reddell get.
01:07:17
Speaker 21: Kangaroo Islands, take a pascoos from the main landing nations to get away to Kangaroo Island.
01:07:27
Speaker 26: The MV Superfly, packing thousands of horsepower, will make daily trips to Kangaroo Island at a blistering pace, taking up to five hundred passengers from the Bay to Kingscote in just over two hours. Inside the super Fight, it's like a jumbo jet with tables and they tell me it rides about as smoothly as the seven four seven as well John Roddell seven Nightly News.
01:07:49
Speaker 7: And it did ride smoothly when the weather was good, but of course, it's a notoriously choppy waterway at times, and people may remember getting quite thick on the super fly right. In fact, its first vessel, its first voyage, the maiden voyage had to be canceled because it was so rough, and on a number of occasions it had trouble docking at the end of the Glenelk Jetty, so it'ld have to return to out of harbor and then the passengers would be bust back. It proved to be quite a popular service, but the biggest problem was that there wasn't enough infrastructure on Kangaroo Island to deal with all of these foot passengers once they got there. The operators asked the state government for some assistance to get some more infrastructure on land. That money wasn't forthcoming, so in the end it didn't stack up. There was then another vessel you might remember, called the Enigma three, which went from the mouth of the pat It was blessed when it set out for the first sailing, but it'll had all sorts of problems as well, a couple of trips where the gangplank collapsed, some life boats went overboard. It had problems with seaweed at the mouth of the pat which prevented it going and coming easily. So great idea in concepts, not necessarily so practical at the end.
01:08:58
Speaker 6: Of the day, though, Yeah, I know it sounds like it would really make it so much easier, but the ferocity of the of the ocean, like God. I wonder if any of our listeners went on it and they keep their passing down.
01:09:12
Speaker 3: Probably not. Some great pictures every as well. Yeah, sorry, Michael.
01:09:16
Speaker 7: Remember the Superflight also did sort of evening cruises up along the coast, which would have been very appealing to people. I guess the advantage is going straight from the bay rather than having to drive to Cape Jervis to get on the ferry, which was so appealing for people. But the economics didn't stack up, so one might have another go, but you'd need the infrastructure at both ends to make it.
01:09:34
Speaker 3: When he work, well, yeah, absolutely, Scott says. Perhaps the super Flight filed because of that jingle. Thank you, thank you, Scott. You can catch Michael Smith's flashback on at seventy Sunday night from six o'clock. We got breaking at coming up on the other side of this break feedback Friday as well, and We'll award the meat tray all before nine o'clock.
01:09:59
Speaker 1: Knockdown bill too with metro homes, move into one and keep the other as an investment. Metro Homes.
01:10:05
Speaker 2: They do it all for you, te Big Pen, Burthy and Will Goodings five double a Breakfast.
01:10:12
Speaker 3: Nine af Drake breaking eight coming up in just a moment. This is a nice moment. Nathan's texted us in on zero four zero eight thirty ninety five the inaugural winner of the Golden Sack Truck as awarded at ten to seven this morning. He says, thank you. I'll be in touch next week with the council's response to his appeal. Nathan of course winning it for the Holdfast Bay Council's decision to find him for whilst working for SA Power Networks in a loading zone. It's parking for three minutes in the red zone. No parking in the red zone. So thank you Nathan for texting in the winning continues. We will be giving away the meat tray thanks to windsor meets before nine o'clock this morning. Feedback Friday is not too far away either. You can register interest in that by calling in right now on eight double two to three, double O double.
01:10:55
Speaker 6: Oh well, belly at week goes by without cancushion making headlines and for a long time the treatment of concussion has basically been as simple as go home, have arrest and a bit of a light down and take it back to and have a bit of a lie down. Well, all that could be about to change, and it's thanks for an amazing partnership here in Adelaide between a company Spark, which is jointly headed by Keith Thomas and former Sturt legend David Walk, and an American company Astracite Pharmaceuticals. We've got Keith Thomas in the studio this morning. Keith, it's so good to meet you again. And I was saying, O, I love doing this story a few weeks ago for the Australian, but it's advanced since then. So for those who are totally unaware of the work that you've been doing, give us a bit of a potted explanation as to how this works, because excitingly it's all happening here in Adelaide and it's in partnership with grassroots football. Are we getting close to a point where there could soon be a tablet available for athletes? Young people, professional athletes, amateurs that could lessen the impact of concussion by sort of accelerating the brain's capacity to heal well.
01:12:03
Speaker 3: That's the hope.
01:12:04
Speaker 27: This is a partnership that we're in with the Royal Adelaide Hospital and essentially the group Astrocite pharmaceutical have been developing this drug for.
01:12:19
Speaker 3: The last ten years.
01:12:21
Speaker 27: Always with these types of developments that the most difficult part is actually getting patients to actually test it and make sure that it works. And that's one of the unique things that we've been able to bring to the table. Here in South Australia. We have one a thriving sporting organized sporting community, grassroots footy has embraced this idea that concussion is a problem and we've got world class medical and research facilities all in a geographical space which makes it accessible. And so essentially what happens is my team is out monitoring suburban footy grounds all around South Australia. If footy clubs sign up to this idea, if someone gets hurt, they come in, they get assessed, medically assessed, they do the SCAT six and then have the opportunity to join this study at the Royal Adelaide where they go into and in like a concussion care environment which is world class.
01:13:33
Speaker 6: So when we caught up, I didn't know that this hadn't been happening. But you've got this crazy sort of life at the moment where you go around at night doing presentations to like your old footay club, the Raggies Athleston, the Adelaide Unique Blacks. I met one of their players a few weeks ago Olivia when.
01:13:47
Speaker 3: We did the story.
01:13:49
Speaker 6: So you sort of word them all up with your medical team with you explaining how this trial works. So they sign on. The club sign on. The players who were young, probably talking to their mum and dad it to and say, if I get if I get clouted on the weekend, I can end up going to the ra in this controlled environment, I take the pill which build The American scientist too, he had that coffee with the other week. He likened it to it's like giving your brain an espresso, where once you take the take the medication, it triggers the cells that are called astrocytes that normally spend about half an hour after you've been hit going he's been hit, we'd better try to repair the injury well, this drug goes ping ping, ping, ping ping.
01:14:32
Speaker 3: You've been hit.
01:14:32
Speaker 6: You've been hit, You've been hit, So extends that period. So then you've got someone like Olivia from the Blacks. She's at the RAH, she's being monitored, and the results so far have been really really promising, Yes, really really promising.
01:14:47
Speaker 27: It's a good Professor Ludbrook is a better person to talk about the you know, the way that the drug works. My job, as you said, is to actually bring clubs and players along the journey. And essentially what I talk about is one the seriousness of the injury itself. Concussion, you know, isn't any more dangerous than it was ten years ago, but we know a lot more about it, and we've got to continue to learn more, and so I do that part of it. And then it's the medical guys who actually administered the drug.
01:15:26
Speaker 3: And so they go into this.
01:15:30
Speaker 27: Medical research facility at the RAH. Guy blood Brooks is the doctor who is our principal investigator. He looks after them and essentially they stay overnight and then the drug gets administered in that controlled environment, and then for the twenty one days that they are recovering, my team is working with them and talking to them basically every day, and so for their whole recovery period they get surrounded by top level care. They go back into the RAH four times over that period for checkups. So it's really a it's doing two things. One, you've got the drug that we are testing to ensure that it works, and it's very promising, very promising. But also you're teaching clubs and players about how best to manage this injury.
01:16:26
Speaker 6: That's important.
01:16:27
Speaker 3: Well, let's go to Professor Ludbrock now who's on the line from the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Doctor Ludrock, thanks for your time. Can we talk a bit about the medication itself. What's the promise or the dream of this is the idea that you could take it and in the short term it's mitigating the impacts of a concussion, or is the idea that you treat a concussion like you always have or you have in recent years. But this medication mitigates the long term effects and we won't see people with the debilitating injury post today football that they get having suffered multiple concussions.
01:16:59
Speaker 12: Now, yeah, look, it's really interesting the way this works. It really turbo charges the brain's own healing mechanisms. I mean, nature's great at healing things. We can give it a bit of a hand with this drug. So working through a genostene receptors on astracytes. They're the kind of healing cells within the brain, and they're the ones that help support the nerve cells which allow us to think and function. And so by firing these up more, the goal is to help the healing process both early on and later on during the recovery phase. So the hope is that initial recovery in the first hours and days would be improved, but also that the downstream effects in weeks and months are substantially better than they would be otherwise.
01:17:49
Speaker 3: Does that potentially mean if this was to work and all the benefits proven, that CTE and things like that would be a thing of the past.
01:18:00
Speaker 12: Hope that that's probably another step away yet. I think at this stage what we want to show is that we can heal the brain better, or help nature heal the brain better and faster. How that translates downstream, I guess time will tell, but that certainly is the hope that CTE might be a lesser risk.
01:18:20
Speaker 6: And just finally, doctor Ludbrook, do you think there's a potential that beyond the footy field, that this drug could have applications for other types of brain injury, things like stroke or even Alzheimer's.
01:18:36
Speaker 12: Yeah, and that's the exciting potential, and in fact astrocyte the company is exploring that at the moment with other sorts of brain injuries stroke, as you say, perhaps more severe head injury and so on. So look, the mechanism is exciting, turbo charging nature's healing processes. We're looking at concussion, but all sorts of other potential.
01:18:57
Speaker 6: Yeah, I got to say medical background whatsoever. I found this story so exciting and inspirational, and it's a really cool sort of assortment of humans behind it. You know, you've got a three hundred gamer for the Red Legs in Keith. You've got guys like you. I remember when we had coffee a few weeks ago, Dror Bloodbrook, you casually told me you've been operating on someone's brain the day before while they was still awake, which blew my mind quite literally. But having all these local grassroots footy players getting involved in something that's a huge health and legal challenge for sport worldwide and beyond is a great thing and it's good. That's all happening here in Adelaide. Thanks for joining us, Dr Bludbrook and to your Keith, all the very best with this. It's an excellent thing you're doing. It's bark well.
01:19:45
Speaker 27: Thank you very much for the chance and to talk about it. We just think it's a wonderful thing for South Australia to be doing. And you know this is world leading stuff and we're doing it here.
01:19:57
Speaker 16: I very proud of that.
01:20:00
Speaker 6: You'll be good and okay, thank you to Jeez.
01:20:04
Speaker 3: Nine minutes after right, we'll take a quick break. We'll come back on the other side of it where the World Cup of South Australia. Make sure you get eight double two to three double A double O plugged into your phone and ready to call to cast your vote. We'll see what progresses to the next round that's coming up.
01:20:21
Speaker 1: Knockdown build two with metro homes, move into one and keep the other as an investment.
01:20:27
Speaker 2: Metro homes. They do it all for you. Deep in Penberthy and Will Goodings five double a breakfast.
01:20:37
Speaker 3: Twenty four to eight. A really disturbing number of people on a Friday morning asking if the new astrocite concussion medication will help with hangovers. There's not just one two in the last two minutes, everyone having everyone's on the same sort of wavelength.
01:20:49
Speaker 6: Why not wouldn't that be Sunday nights, the first night of the weekend.
01:20:52
Speaker 3: I've always said that maybe Crows fans have oken up last night thinking, you know what, I need a drink.
01:20:56
Speaker 6: Maybe they're just drinking to forget exactly horror of it all.
01:20:59
Speaker 3: Possibly it's your twenty five after eight, it's it's World Cup time. World Cup of Suburbs. I think this will be our first repeat category.
01:21:11
Speaker 7: Is that right?
01:21:13
Speaker 6: Because we're thinking we should call them, we should call the Golden Sack Truck, Tyson gold Sack Truck.
01:21:22
Speaker 3: That is excellent.
01:21:24
Speaker 6: You bet in gold Sack Truck.
01:21:25
Speaker 3: You often do your best work about a previous segment during a much later segment and with the kids.
01:21:31
Speaker 6: Is who do you think got teased the most at school? Tyson gold Sack or Stell's side. I know that's one of your favorite debates. Now we're back to the food category for the World Cup of Suburbs. We've done food, We've done people, We've had places and things. Yesterday with Absolute boil over with Travis head's mustas just romping. You know those the three quickst votes we've had so far so World Cup of see how Australia returns to food. You can check the bracket on our social media to see how it is all progressing to see what the best thing about South Australia is food.
01:22:04
Speaker 3: David, you want to go first? Ordrop made, I've just seen and blike, I'm just I've just opened up. Oh so what's contesting this morning? The double cut roll or the double cut roll up against the port Elliott Bakery pasting. These are two absolute favorites. This is this is an Argentina Germany scenario. This one hard to separate because the past is part of our you know, and I say this is a penn Boothy part of our Cornish heritage. Well that's that's exactly where my argument will start. And I'm I'm happy to start because the port out of the port Elliott Bakery is a place that I've been to and I've lined up at. And I will simply say this, South Australians hate lining up for stuff. One of the things we hate is we go to the Easterns that we're going to Melbourne, we out to Sydney and say things like you can't live like this. I'm not lining up for coffee. I'm not lining up for a car park. I'm not lining up when I need to go to the bank where South of Strata's line up at the port Elliott Bakery to get pasties because they're unbelievable. Old line up there for an hour and a half. I don't care it is the pasties there are unbelievable. The peninsula itself, the fleur Ara is beautiful. If there were no beaches, if there was no Victor Harbor, if there were no whales, if there was no Kangaroo Island, people would still go to Port Elliott to go to the bakery because of the pasty. And that is my argument for the port Elliott Bakery pasty. David Bendack, Okay, that's a very good argument. Well, I'm going to count it by saying that in the world of engineering, you know, people think about feats like the Golden Gate Bridge, the Empire State Building, think about majestic constructions such as the Guggenheim in bill Bao, the Sydney Opera House. In the world of food, there is nothing better than the double cut roll. And if you ask anyone in a if you go to a delicatessen in Melbourne or city and asks for a.
01:23:57
Speaker 6: Double cut just they don't they don't know how to start. They don't know how to go, you know, down first and then across and then across again.
01:24:06
Speaker 3: So you get the.
01:24:08
Speaker 6: Quarters. It's basically like two sandwiches for the price of one. And there's a certain lightness to a double cut roll, the freshness if you've got a roll with the crust on the outside, the softness of the crumb, but then the filling. You're basically getting two sandwiches for the price of one. And I don't know, like you know, I love going to that place at the West Lakes food Court. You ever been in there for a double cutter?
01:24:33
Speaker 3: I've ever been there. I worked when I worked at Footy Park, I lived there.
01:24:36
Speaker 7: That is.
01:24:37
Speaker 6: I mean, I don't want to single anyone out, but they know what they're doing and the range of fillings.
01:24:42
Speaker 3: I can't believe you mentioned that place. I've had so many double cut rolls from there over the years. Yeah, how good is it?
01:24:47
Speaker 7: Eight?
01:24:47
Speaker 17: Double?
01:24:47
Speaker 3: Two to three double A double a double cut roll or the port Elliott Bakery pasty. What is the dresses to the next round of our World Cup of South Australia. 01:25:55
Speaker 12: A boys, how you doing on.
01:26:00
Speaker 6: Better Football?
01:26:03

01:27:19
Speaker 3: Good, We've got you even never trust us again. Hey, what about this text though? From Rich and Kibben Park. He says, Dave, I think we should get you a nineteen eighty's watch with a calculator on. Don't we know you can't do maths.
01:27:31
Speaker 6: He's demonstrated just now by only doing two horizontal cuts for double cut roll, not three.
01:27:36
Speaker 3: Thank you for that text for zero eight thirty ninety five. The Golden sack Truck, now forever to be known as Tyson has just sidled up to the microphone again. I'm not sure what that's about, but perhaps we'll hear from his back Tyson again before nine o'clock today. He's fitting in well, isn't he seamlessly? He's part of the good chemistry piece.
01:27:54
Speaker 7: Yeah.
01:27:54
Speaker 3: People often talk about the chemistry of this program, and he's just slid right on in the magnificent Alright, Tyson, you sit there quietly. We've got feedback from lot's happened over the course of the week. Let's feedback now with Ian in one tree Hill, who we first cap off the rank and good morning to you.
01:28:20
Speaker 15: Good morning, gentlemen, Happy birthday, mate, go on in cheers mate.
01:28:25
Speaker 3: Ian, who would you like to tell to shut up? Paul and Hansen? I was gonna, you don't even know, explain any further Albo, simple as that, Paul and Hanson's meat advisor. I told them a member of the media we had lad to shut up yesterday. Shut up, and then she said she'll go back and say some more things. And they decided that that probably wasn't technically a great move. Ian, where is the coldest place you've ever been?
01:28:49
Speaker 7: Falls Creek?
01:28:50
Speaker 6: False Creek? What was the temperature about?
01:28:53
Speaker 15: Minus seven?
01:28:54
Speaker 11: Oh?
01:28:55
Speaker 3: That is cold?
01:28:56
Speaker 15: And you wear you wear a T shirt under a light jacket because you're expelling so much energy. And then when you're sitting on the chair lift and it stops because somebody's fallen off or something, you just free Oh yeah, that's so you can't have too much on because when you start ski again, you get too hot.
01:29:12
Speaker 3: So it reminds me that's the problem. Who went nearest to the pin yesterday? Andrew and Elizabeth won nearest to them? What was the temperature in the game ended? Last night five point three and he said four point seven. Excellent work.
01:29:24
Speaker 15: Ian.
01:29:25
Speaker 3: Think you just jogged my mind. Now, Ian, what was the punishment for swearing when you were growing up?
01:29:33
Speaker 15: At primary school? I got the yardstick or the feather duster.
01:29:37
Speaker 6: The feather feather?
01:29:39
Speaker 3: What kind of aw was the feather duster?
01:29:40
Speaker 10: Are you?
01:29:41
Speaker 15: They hold the ferry part and they whack you with the plastic.
01:29:46
Speaker 3: Illeag.
01:29:48
Speaker 15: That was good primary Pembo, good primary school. Yeah, and they knocked the old place down.
01:29:54
Speaker 6: Yeah.
01:29:54
Speaker 7: Right.
01:29:54
Speaker 6: We used to have a yellow plastic bat and we called it the waffleberger at Mariam Primary. You get hit with a yellow plastic tennis bat like all.
01:30:06
Speaker 15: I got the cane heaps, all because of talking, That's all it was, really. I got it heaps. My mom went to the headmaster said, you've got to stop whacking my son.
01:30:16
Speaker 7: It's not not good.
01:30:18
Speaker 6: Well, back in the old days, Will Will was just young enough to have avoided the cane. I'm guessing yeah, there was no corporal punishment then, mind you.
01:30:27
Speaker 15: I was even leaning back on a chair once and on two on two things and the teacher pushed me backwards and I hit my hand on the ground. It and you won't do that again.
01:30:39
Speaker 6: It didn't work because you still swear. Teacher who hit me with a cricket bat once? Really, and I'm sure he remembers it. I saw him one night at Hungry Jack's over the road in Rummell Street and it was late on a Friday night and I reminded him of that.
01:30:57
Speaker 3: Oh do you have some dark thoughts? No, I just think it's from over the top. Isn't it about a swarthy adult David Pembury? He looked really scared, Betty. Did it feels like there's more to that story? What's the what's the best thing about your garden? And we spoke with the Australian winner of the Chelsea Garden Show in the week will the Australian Garden should I say gum trees?
01:31:18
Speaker 15: I love gum trees.

01:33:28
Speaker 3: Like any good conspiracy theory that gets read online, I have no supporting evidence. You've presented none, and yet I totally believe it. John magnificent work, I like that. Let's go to conn and McGill. What a rus wang wango where they really thought they could just change the names and all unbelievable. Con What do you feed your pet? Con?

Speaker 6: People have complained about it. I think living in sister Janet Meade Street with no.
01:34:14
Speaker 3: I get no. But if you see what their complain is, I get what it is. They got to change all their paper. You suddenly have to go through addresses for your passport or your bills.

He's got to touch with the Casey case has a bit. Absolutely absolutely the Golden Sack Truck, as you just heard from the Golden Sack Truck, will continue to take nominations next week. That was a lot of fun that segment. If you see a government at any level doing something that's silly, you can nominate it for a Golden sap Track Award. It was awarded in Nathan this morning for his experience receiving a ridiculous parking fine in his sess a Power Networks car no less. But we'll take more nominations next week. In eight double two three double a double an.
01:38:13
Speaker 6: We should really think the childstt cancel because this has become a killer segment and it's actually a really, really good way to get the stories. It really is because of the seven things that were nominated this week, two of them are actual proper story completely.
01:38:27
Speaker 3: Let's go, let's reflect on the top five moments.
01:38:29
Speaker 6: Of the week.
01:38:29
Speaker 3: It's then the top five of the week, Number five.
01:38:34
Speaker 11: What I find fascinating is how these words are making appearances on let's say, on footballs in this case. But I know that Dame Judy Dench actually does needlework embroidery during movie shoots, and the embroidery contains swear words.
01:38:51
Speaker 6: Dame Judy bench.
01:38:52
Speaker 11: You won't find any images of cross stitching online or is it crass stitching?
01:39:00
Speaker 3: That was excellent A lively conversation about the slippage in how we speak following the Josh or Shelley football scandal yesterday Jane.
01:39:09
Speaker 6: Judy Densh also the subject of one of Ricky Gervais's greatest jose I.
01:39:12

And the person advocating on my behalf completely forgot about the fact that I embarrassed myself by playing the tambourine and singing alongside him for the UNDI drive, one of my low points. So and I want to thank my mum for ringing.
01:39:45

01:40:24
Speaker 6: Ruddits in the sack truck.

Speaker 2: Have you ever seen a more.
01:40:38
Speaker 18: Incompetent added at labor government with this one?
01:40:42
Speaker 3: I didn't think so, how we go? I may listen to that? Actually, that's sounded all right. The Golden sack Truck debut on the radio program this morning, and we imagine where else it might crop up over the course of its obviously illustrious radio career. That's on the way the number one spot.
01:40:59
Speaker 22: Hey, it's me the Golden sack Truck. This week's winner of the very generous Skip Been voucher courtesy of Allied Waste Services is Nathan. Nathan told us about the silly parking fine he got down at the bay. Well done, Nathan.
01:41:21
Speaker 23: On there watching watching the YouTube stream of the sack truck.
01:41:27
Speaker 3: Here's the stupidest we've ever done it these through the program, But that was excellent.
01:41:32
Speaker 6: You've already got its own personality.
01:41:34
Speaker 3: It really does seem good, a bit of a it's American, which I didn't really. We love the sack truck. That will be back next week. What a morning? Uh har a road service feel watch just a couple of cheap spots for you. The Liberty put Adelaide dollar sixty seven point five in the United wingfield for Diesel two dollars fifteen point five. Speaker 6: See next week.
01:42:00
Speaker 7: He was.
01:42:03
Speaker 22: Bouncing, as I always say, The Golden sack Truck wakes up with five double a breakfast.
01:42:09
Speaker 2: This is straight now, it's
01:42:14
Speaker 21: A lot of this is straight.
Speaker 1: Yes, knockdown bill two with metro homes, move into one and keep the other as an investment Metro Homes.
00:00:11
Speaker 2: They do it all for you. Live from Heinmars Square. It's five double A Breakfast, Deep in Penberthy and will goodings.
00:00:19
Speaker 3: Night after see X good morning. Tell You're welcome to Friday on five Double A Breakfast the twenty second of May.
00:54:29

00:55:38

Speaker 3: The other week Double cut roll stays alive? Two one to the port Elliott Bakery pasty tartbreaking having separate there it is, isn't it? Quentnin old Roan lay.
01:25:55
Speaker 12: A boys, how you doing on.
01:26:00
Speaker 6: Better Football?
01:26:03
Speaker 12: It has to be the pasty.

01:31:19
Speaker 3: Good on you and thank you mate. That was excellent. Went to all sorts of places. So let's go to Port Adelaide.

Con?
