Prototype Your Artistic Evolution with Lucy McRae

Join Ceri as she interviews artist and designer Lucy McRae, recognised by Fast Company as a pioneer who's shaping the future. We get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Lucy's artistic process as she creates conceptual sculptures, films, and wearables, exploring the impacts of emerging technologies on the human body. Tapping into her unique childhood and ballet training, Lucy explains how constantly adapting led her to approach spaces and materials as malleable.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

• Lucy's work investigates how technologies could alter human evolution, using fashion, film, and sculpture to spark ethical discussions.
• She transforms familiar materials to envision unfamiliar futures, helping people emotionally relate to new developments in science, technology and the natural world.
• Lucy uses her body as an experimental canvas, prototype and barometer.
• As an outsider, she learned how to adapt to new environments and situations quickly.
• She practices radical candour in collaborations, while protecting her vision.
• Rest is resistance - Lucy seeks productivity without burnout and advocates for every artist to do the same.
• She views the studio itself as her biggest ongoing creative project.
• Lucy aims to bring science to street level through creativity.
