00:00:00,870 --> 00:00:06,450
Welcome to Designed Pause, a space for women who are thinking about taking an intentional career break.
2
00:00:06,870 --> 00:00:07,740
I'm Deidra Green.
3
00:00:08,430 --> 00:00:18,150
Today's episode is adapted from a recent video where I reflect on what it really means to pause, not to escape your life, but to design what comes next.
4
00:00:18,600 --> 00:00:21,660
If you're in a season of transition, you're in the right place.
5
00:00:22,481.02 --> 00:00:23,391.02
Hi everyone.
6
00:00:23,811.02 --> 00:00:25,601.02
My name is Deidra Green.
7
00:00:25,911.02 --> 00:00:29,991.02
Welcome to another episode of Designed Pause.
8
00:00:31,41.02 --> 00:01:03,197.02
I am so excited to share with you this week because I've just been having this epiphany over the last two weeks that I have been living the life of my dreams, and it's really I don't know why it feels surprising because I put so much time and effort into planning what it could be and overcome so many obstacles, but now it's really starting to sink in and really coming together even though I've been on this ride now since February.
9
00:01:03,597.022 --> 00:01:20,677.02
But in the last two weeks they've just been filled with the elements of things that are really important to me and things that I wanted to have more of in terms of how my life is laid out and where I'm spending most of my time.
10
00:01:20,687.02 --> 00:01:27,147.021
So in the last fourteen days, I've been on ten different planes and I love that.
11
00:01:27,167.023 --> 00:01:40,957.022
I love traveling and I-- the hustle and bustle of the airport sounds daunting to some people, but for me, I'm used to it and I enjoy racking up points and miles and spending points and miles.
12
00:01:40,967.023 --> 00:01:44,287.022
So for me, it's always a little bit exciting.
13
00:01:44,717.019 --> 00:01:50,967.023
And I was heading to celebrate my sister for her birthday.
14
00:01:51,267.018 --> 00:02:11,97.028
But before I got there, I was able to stop and celebrate a friend who has just opened her own cycling and Pilates studio, which is a huge accomplishment and I really was grateful that I was able to say, "You know what? I'm just gonna make the stop," from St.
15
00:02:11,97.028 --> 00:02:15,347.026
Lucia and enjoy some time in celebrating her.
16
00:02:15,367.027 --> 00:02:16,367.037
So that was great.
17
00:02:16,857.033 --> 00:02:22,747.034
And then promptly headed to Napa Valley with my sister for her birthday.
18
00:02:22,797.035 --> 00:02:34,547.032
We drank wine for five days and in the midst of all that, somehow I was invited to be on a YouTube channel that I have been watching for years.
19
00:02:34,957.038 --> 00:02:43,247.031
So I got to meet and be interviewed with or interviewed by the co-founders of Exodus Summit.
20
00:02:43,777.041 --> 00:03:00,457.052
I will leave their channel in the show notes as well because if you are someone who is definitely considering moving abroad, they are amazing at shortening that journey as they certainly helped to shorten mine.
21
00:03:01,47.052 --> 00:03:08,477.055
I still am floating that I actually got to do that interview, so I'll leave the link to that one in case you wanna check it out.
22
00:03:09,367.06 --> 00:03:10,97.06
As well.
23
00:03:10,587.06 --> 00:03:21,917.06
And then I got to hang out with my mom, and that's always a big highlight as I get older and, everybody's lives are going in their own different directions.
24
00:03:21,917.06 --> 00:03:29,137.06
Just being able to spend intentional time being in my mom's presence is always a gift to me.
25
00:03:29,657.059 --> 00:03:36,217.059
And I know that's not everyone's experience, but I am truly grateful that it is my experience.
26
00:03:36,237.059 --> 00:03:41,617.059
So that is also a highlight of the week.
27
00:03:42,347.057 --> 00:03:48,717.057
And I'm still building this Designed Pause business.
28
00:03:49,47.057 --> 00:04:12,837.054
I started coaching a new client this week, and it's been amazing just to see light bulbs go off when you start giving people different options around what they could do when they thought that they had to stay stuck in a particular place or in a particular way.
29
00:04:13,327.052 --> 00:04:33,807.057
There's, something exciting about seeing a person's brain switch from, "I can't do that," to, "How can I do that?" So if that's you, if you want that to be you, definitely make sure you check out the website at designedpause.com
30
00:04:34,317.05 --> 00:04:37,497.054
and book your Pause Clarity Call with me.
31
00:04:37,497.054 --> 00:04:49,557.053
If you use code SAMPLE100, your first one is going to be free, and we can start talking through what a design pause looks like for you.
32
00:04:50,497.05 --> 00:05:12,697.058
So while the last two weeks have been particularly exciting for me and just very affirming, I know that every single day on this journey is not always sunshine and rainbows, and it hasn't always been sunshine and rainbows, but it's so important to take in when it is.
33
00:05:13,277.061 --> 00:05:27,537.072
And it's gratifying to just know that I could create this and I really want everyone to know that they can create it for themselves as well.
34
00:05:29,257.075 --> 00:05:42,867.076
So I'm gonna be honest, as always, about the good days and the bad days, but I just had a couple of really good days, and I think it's important not to downplay the joy.
35
00:05:43,277.076 --> 00:05:56,677.076
As I'm highlighting the mental shifts and the unlearning and the changes that you have to go through to make something like this happen, I wanna be clear that it's worth it.
36
00:05:57,117.076 --> 00:06:08,67.072
It's always worth it when you get to just sit and realize that things are happening the way that you imagined that they would.
37
00:06:09,707.074 --> 00:06:14,197.075
So that's it for me from this week and my freestyle episode.
38
00:06:14,637.073 --> 00:06:17,657.074
There will be lots more coming soon.
39
00:06:18,57.075 --> 00:06:26,507.074
I'm getting ready to take an extended trip to Thailand to scout around and see what's going on there.
40
00:06:27,247.077 --> 00:06:39,757.079
And I will keep you guys posted on the journey about my career break, career breaks in general, tips and tricks to help you if you're in the midst of planning one.
41
00:06:40,327.079 --> 00:07:03,837.072
And I look forward to hearing your feedback, please share this episode with someone who is considering taking a pause or you know needs a little bit of a break Thank you for listening If this episode resonated, you can explore more reflections on the design paused YouTube channel.
42
00:07:04,317.072 --> 00:07:09,27.072
Take what you need, leave what you don't, and I'll meet you in the next pause.
