ACERCA DE ESTE EPISODIO
The most capable founder in the room is usually the last one to ask for help.
Not because everything is fine. Not because she doesn’t need support. But because she has become incredibly good at handling problems, carrying extra weight, and making a structurally messy business look successful from the outside.
In this solo episode, Nata breaks down what she calls the competence trap: the cycle where your ability to handle something becomes the reason you never change it.
You answer every client email, so a communication system never gets built. You catch every mistake, so your team never learns to operate without you. You keep the launch moving, solve the urgent problem, and make sure nothing falls apart.
It works. Until you realize you’ve built a business where you are the system, the backup plan, and the safety net.
Nata explains why high-capacity founders often confuse tolerance with capacity, activity with progress, and crisis support with strategic support. She also shares the identity shifts required to stop being the person who absorbs everything and become the CEO who builds a company capable of operating without constant oversight.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
- Why being able to carry more doesn’t mean you should
- How the competence trap keeps successful founders stuck
- Why your business can be profitable and still be unsustainable
- The difference between getting task support and structural support
- Why your team may still depend on you after you delegate
- How being needed can quietly become part of your identity
- What it looks like to measure your value by what you make possible
- Why you don’t need to wait for a crisis before asking for support
The goal isn’t to make you less capable. It’s to stop using your capability as a reason to tolerate a business that asks too much of you.
