ÜBER DIESE EPISODE
What happens when a service is built to reclaim a relationship instead of enforce one? In this episode of When the Frogs Sleep, Winter Dawn and Kieran sit down with Treaty #3 Chief of Police Cheryl Gervais, the first Indigenous woman to lead the Treaty Three Police Service, and Communications Specialist Donna Anderson, for an honest conversation about what policing looks like when it answers to the Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty #3. They walk us through culturally safe, trauma-informed practice across 22 First Nations and a vast stretch of territory; from training officers to work with youth, Elders, and 2SLGBTQ+ community members, to building real partnerships with schools, health services, community leadership, and grassroots groups that put prevention before enforcement.
