ÜBER DIESE EPISODE
Tetairoa McMillan just did something no Carolina Panthers wide receiver has ever done. After a monster Sunday Night Football performance against the Detroit Lions — 14 catches, 192 yards and two touchdowns in a 32-26 win — TMac was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week, the first receiver in franchise history to earn the honor. Not Steve Smith Sr. Not Muhsin Muhammad. Not DJ Moore. TMac.
On today's episode of Two Growls One Roar, we break down everything about TMac's historic week. He became the first player in Panthers history with 10+ catches, 175+ yards and two touchdowns in a single game, tied Christian McCaffrey for the second-most catches in a game in team history, and added the fan-voted FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week award on top of it. He's the 16th Panther ever to win Offensive Player of the Week and the first since Bryce Young last season. Is year-two TMac already a top-10 receiver in the NFL? We make the case.
We also talk about Bryce Young's hot start. Through four weeks, Bryce leads the NFL in passing yards, has thrown for at least 287 yards in every game, and has a 9-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Is this the best stretch of his career, and is it for real?
Then it's time for the injury report and the timetable for returns. The bye week could not have come at a better time. We go through the latest on Jalen Coker, Trevor Etienne, Taylor Moton, Tershawn Wharton, Damien Lewis, Xavier Legette and Ickey Ekwonu, plus the big one: both starting cornerbacks, Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, are on injured reserve.
That leads us into the rumor mill. With the secondary thin and Akayleb Evans getting tested against Detroit, should Dan Morgan make a trade for a cornerback? We look at the names being floated, including Joey Porter Jr. and Keisean Nixon, and the in-house options like Will Lee, Chau Smith-Wade and Corey Thornton.
We also check the NFC South standings. The Panthers sit at 2-2 and in first place, holding the tiebreaker over Atlanta after the 34-3 win in Week 2, while Tampa Bay is 0-4. Then we pull up the TGOR Panthers Playoff Simulator, pick every remaining game from Philadelphia to the Week 18 finale against Atlanta, and see what it takes to get Carolina back to the postseason.
We close with your mailbag questions: where TMac's game ranks in Panthers history, who the WR2 is when everyone's healthy, how this defense survives Philly and Green Bay, and our Week 18 record predictions. Lock yours in the comments so we can hold you to it.
