Daniel: Sounds good. I thought we were on autorecord when we start. I'm try I'm always trying to get Justin to say something like that and finally got it and ⁓
Justin: you
Zach Capshaw: So did I. To lure him in. were yeah, maybe somehow our setting got changed.
Daniel: All right. A cold open for the death of flash quotes. I don't know. Well guys, it's been a good run. Flash quotes podcast. it's time to ⁓ to shut her the doors.
Zach Capshaw: Twenty tw Flash Ghost Podcast twenty twenty to twenty twenty six. Made it just over a year, sixty episodes. We had a good run.
Justin: ⁓ you
Daniel: Yeah, we did have a good run. Sixty two episodes. That's more than most, right? Nine out of ten quit in the first four, nine out of ten quit after that in the first twenty.
Justin: you
Zach Capshaw: That's right. Yeah, very rare. One percent make it make it past twenty episodes. So we should feel good, guys. I'm proud of what we did.
Justin: Solid run.
Daniel: All right. off.
Justin: Gotcha!
Daniel: Perfect.
Justin: We would never quit on you guys, and you know it.
Zach Capshaw: No. No, it's too much fun.
Daniel: We're just getting started, baby.
Zach Capshaw: That's right.
Justin: So what's going on then?
Daniel: Well, you've probably been noticing online, different colors, different fonts, different textures, different handles. The is changing beneath our feet and ⁓ are
Justin: you
Daniel: Outside of that change, we are a part of it. something. I don't ⁓ lost my train of thought. But we just jump into the catchphrase. ⁓ Cause probably just call well, I was just gonna keep it simple. Just change the name. What you know, why get complicated? All right, all right. And I'll keep y'all guys because Nashville taught me that y'all is the is the way to go and I'm never dropping it.
Zach Capshaw: What is the new catchphrase? All right, let's hear it. Y'all's endearing. People people trust y'all.
Daniel: Trust y'all. y'all, welc ow Hey y'all, welcome to the Mobile Business Podcast, the number one pod for mobile businesses of all shapes and sizes. Excited to be hanging out today with my friends and Flash Quotes co-founders, Zach Capshaw and Justin Goodhart, also of Goodhart Coffee. we are coming to you for the time as the Mobile Business Pod.
Zach Capshaw: Ooh. Let's go.
Daniel: Justin, why don't you have those what happened to your thing that Michael got you? The wap bop wah wah?
Zach Capshaw: ⁓ yeah.
Justin: well, it got, know, it got lost in the move. Potentially. I don't know if he got it for me, but I ⁓ bought inspired by So in honor of him, yes.
Zach Capshaw: In honor of him. Michael Craig speaking at level five live, keynote speaker, by the way. So you want a inside joke with Michael, find a find a find a pyow powton on Amazon. I'll probably bring mine to the conference just to applaud him.
Daniel: Yeah. Well absent that Mobile Podcast. It been an amazing run for the Flash Quotes Pod, as we already said. We've done sixty two episodes. We started in early twenty twenty five. Most podcasts fizzle out, and I get why. It is hard to go after this week in, out. Certainly we've missed weeks here and there. ⁓ it's amazing to be able to talk to so many operators, to answer questions, to from the audience as much as we're hopefully sharing insights and knowledge, but it's also a wild, wild thing to commit to. Through that process, though, we have been absolutely blown away at the at the listenership, at the people are coming up to us at events like World of Coffee recently, who ⁓ Really enjoy the podcast and it just gets us fired up to keep going than before. And, you ⁓ just to some of ⁓ my favorite on the podcast, we we've had some incredible guests. I think two of my favorite guests so far, one is Dan from Vim Coffee. I just love that episode. I would highly recommend it. It's such a unique journey for him, going from like no-karts to 10 plus super fast in Vegas, a totally crazy market as somebody who didn't actually work the coffee carts very long before handing them off to somebody else. And our only two time guest on the the Flash Quotes podcast, and now that we are ending that Flash Quotes podcast name, the only one to ever do it is Cynthia from Always Kind Coffee. And ⁓ brought her back because there was just so much demand, so many questions. She had wonderful insights in To marketing, to social media, to selling a brand experience like ⁓ like no one ever has. So are awesome. but as we continue going forward, we're gonna have more and more awesome guests and yeah, it's gonna be a beautiful thing. Any highlights that come to mind for you all in as we close the Flash Quotes podcast chapter?
Zach Capshaw: I I'll ⁓ I'll give a shout out to Michael Craig, our the aforementioned legend, Michael Craig, owner of Creature Coffee. He ⁓ I think he was episode two. He was like the first person who agreed to come on. but that's a great episode and and I think about it quite a bit when it when it comes to stories that he about just like the h the hustle of getting started and Saying yes to an event before he even had an espresso machine, like just saying yes and figuring it out is kind of a theme that he shared and that that is repeated many times over over other guests about just that that kind of entrepreneurial grit to to say yes and and make it happen rather than rather than wait till you have it all figured out. So he he's an amazing story. He went from being a a DJ, what was his name? Like D DJ Dangerous Mike or something. ⁓ Danish Mike. ⁓ yeah, yeah, yeah. Danish Mike.
Justin: Danish Mike.
Daniel: Yeah. Danish Mike.
Zach Capshaw: to starting this coffee, you know, getting obsessed with coffee, starting this coffee thing. And now he's he's built one of the biggest coffee catering companies in America. He's got three cities, fifty plus baristas, he said. so ⁓ just amazing growth story. love that one. We I was actually talking to a to a Flashcoats podcast listener and Flashcoats community member recently, and she said she's she's she's like What's the word? Like binge listening to every episode, ⁓ because her and her husband realized, like, wow, there's so much good stuff in here. Like why have we not been just just absorbing every single one of these? So they said they they started from the beginning and have just been listening to them all the way through. And I her what her favorite was and she said Michael, so ⁓ yeah.
Daniel: Nice. That is awesome. That's that's high praise to be able to to listen to me over and over and over again. Not many people can do that. ⁓ any highlights for you, man?
Zach Capshaw: Yeah.
Justin: Probably when Noah from Reunion Coffee gave me my my flash quotes jersey I don't know if that was on the flash quiz No, actually, I don't think I've worn it on the flash quotes watch guys. I wore it for the valor podcast I gave him a shout out there, but Noah is is a rock star love him and
Daniel: Yeah.
Zach Capshaw: Have you worn that on camera?
Justin: Yeah, I enjoyed having him on, enjoyed that episode. I mean, the story we probably reference the most is Jenna from Bloom Coffee and sticky notes exercise. ⁓ And I the episode with June from Welcome Coffee Cart was a hitter, got tons of love on social media, but ⁓ we're not to focus the past. Like, you know, I don't want to sit here and ⁓ we're too young be reminiscing like this. We got to focus on the future. ⁓
Daniel: Yeah, that's true.
Zach Capshaw: That's right. I love it.
Justin: So what is coming down the pipeline with mobile business school podcasts, formerly Flash Quotes podcast? Are we out of topics? Are we just rehashing stuff now or do we have some energy and some blood and some new content coming down the pipeline?
Daniel: Well let's do that. What's the why? What's the why, Zachary? the fire in the belly?
Zach Capshaw: I'm glad you asked. So we we we this this kind of rebrand of the podcast has been s something we've been talking about for quite a while. I mean we we've we first had this conversation maybe back in like January. and the ⁓ the ⁓ there's a couple of factors that made us think about sort of pivoting the brand and the name of the educational piece of what of what we're doing. the first one is just like the Flashquotes Podcast is fine, but it's not ⁓ It's not really about flash quotes. The podcast is about showcasing ⁓ entrepreneurs and teaching mobile entrepreneurs how to grow their business. so we want to be more than just you know, hey, use our software because it's great, which it is, and you should, but it's ⁓ it's than that. There's ⁓ there's so much more to to succeeding as a as a mobile cart entrepreneur just the software that you choose. There's There's so many other lessons to be learned, whether it's branding and marketing and sales and people skills and hiring and all this stuff that we've talked about on this podcast. we want we want to equip all of the all of our listeners with everything, like a full toolkit of how they can grow start grow and scale their business no matter what stage they're at. And we also to expand beyond just coffee. coffee carts have been ⁓ kind of the main pillar of of flash quotes and a lot of our guests and our customers and our users for a long time. because of Justin's that's where we started because of Justin. Good Coffee was customer number one and we have ⁓ really, grown in the coffee cart space, but there are so many more mobile cart type businesses that are spinning up and that are using flash quotes and they have a lot of the same, same problems, same needs, same questions, same things they want to learn. So recently you've heard talk to ⁓ Yeah, someone like Jenny Blackwood from Social Grays and the and in the charcuterie cart space. talking more to mobile ⁓ cocktail carts ⁓ dessert carts, ice cream trucks, churros, palettas, cannolis. there's this whole it's kind of a growing wave of all of mobile service businesses that are that are getting started, not just coffee. And we wanted serve all of those because a lot of them have similar questions, similar needs, similar problems that they're facing. We wanna expand the the s the scope of what we talk about here and the p types of people that we interview here beyond just coffee. Not not that we won't continue to talk about coffee, but I think even our coffee listeners and coffee cart customers are interested in in in learning about more and and hearing what other similar types of entrepreneurs are doing, even if they're not specifically in coffee. ⁓ And also a of our customers are thinking about launching other parallel types of services. They're thinking about matcha. They're thinking about food. So
Justin: you
Daniel: Yeah.
Zach Capshaw: We felt like they're broadening the aperture felt a little bit appropriate and and that's that's kind of the the why behind the the name change in the rebrand.
Justin: Love it.
Daniel: Yeah. I mean a big part of the the why well as just a f a sense that mobile businesses are we're just on the cusp of this really kind of flourishing of that of that industry and people's opportunities to become entrepreneurs and start businesses using their skill set in a way that doesn't require a huge amount of overhead and allows them to get started pretty quickly. ⁓
Justin: Good night.
Daniel: Justin, can you kind of ⁓ talk a little bit about that? Obviously it was love of coffee and and taking that into carts was a big part of your journey with Good Heart Coffee. But that's something that, you know, you're talking to so many of these business owners every day. it like something really cool is going on and there's a lot of opportunity for for people to grow and and go from a side hustle to a real business.
Zach Capshaw: You're muted, Justin.
Justin: Yeah, I mean, I think we all see it. We all feel it. Like if you you're on social media and you see mobile cart businesses like their stuffs, like it's going to not be long before your entire feed is just flooded ⁓ with ideas inspiration and operators. Like I was really shocked by this as And so it's clearly like it's something in the air and something in the. you know, just in the energy of people. Like I think the, I think what's so appealing, it's kind of that desire, I think that so many people are tapping into and really successful, you know, coaches ⁓ or are really effectively selling ⁓ like dream of be your own boss, right? There's been ⁓ all history, there's always someone selling the dream of be your own boss. A lot of unfortunately, it's in like, either unethical, like multi-level marketing stuff or things that are never gonna work, but this is an area where it's like, it actually can work. it's like, now it's sweaty startup, as they say, like you are getting your hands dirty. You're out there, you're the one sweating. You may your own card, you're the one the events, but it really can help usher in much financial freedom if executed properly. than you've had in a job. And I think that's a lot of people's drive to get into this industry. it's growing. I do think like you do start to see that the higher level operators will start to dominate local markets as there is more competition. But I also view as like there's hundreds and hundreds of plumbers the Denver metro area. Yeah, then there's like the top three plumbing companies that are massive and huge and have a fleet of 50 or 100 trucks and are really expensive, but have the best reviews and all that sort of thing. And then there's all the ones that are just like, yeah, I'm a one truck, I'm a two truck plumbing operation, and we just make livings for our families. But that is still financial freedom. I do think you're starting to hear that more and more in the... mobile event spaces, specifically coffee catering, that as competition grows, it's true of all industries, those top three to five companies in every city ⁓ going to be doing the vast majority, probably 80 % of the business in that city with much smaller numbers going around for everyone else. And so I think now is the time to really build your experience and expertise and get started. Like ⁓ every you delay is, is a day where you're losing out on the opportunity to get those reps and get that experience and help establish yourself as a top operator in your industry, in your city.
Zach Capshaw: Yeah, one thing I'll I'll add to that. it it does seem like there's a confluence of things happening right now, right? There's a there's a there's an increase in demand and awareness of ⁓ mobile mobile coffee, mobile bar, mobile services for private events and catering o opportunities. The people see it, the more people are aware of it, the more demand and interest there is in in it. you can attest, Justin, like even Even five years ago, it was a relatively obscure or unknown thing talking about coffee catering compared to where it is now and in terms of like the average person's awareness. I just pulled up Google Trends. This is a this is a tool that lets you see like ⁓ search volume interest in a keyword. ⁓ this is like pretty stunning. If you look, ⁓ the blue line here is searches for mobile coffee and the red line is searches for mobile bar. ⁓ low flat line. ⁓
Justin: Bye.
Zach Capshaw: Twenty two, twenty three, twenty four, twenty five, and then last year and into this year, like a hockey stick parabolic spike in in Google search term interest in mobile coffee and mobile bar, just as an example. So it seems like there's
Justin: Can you do coffee catering here as well? Can you search for that? I'm curious where that lands.
Zach Capshaw: Coffee catering is more flat. ⁓
Justin: That's so crazy to me because that's actually the primary, that's like the primary transactional money term for caters. yeah, I'm wondering if it's like, either way. Yeah, I mean, for sure this trend holds up really interesting.
Zach Capshaw: Yeah. So c Corbin, I was talking to Corbin ⁓ from Night Owl Coffee. He's he's one of our keynote speakers for Level Five Live and talking to him about his talk. yeah, he's he's gonna be talking a little bit about what we're saying here. This the state of the industry, how it's just growing and booming and there's there's more demand, there's more budget. there's basically never been a better time to be in the the mobile catering biz. So yeah, that's that's why we're excited and fired up about about mobile business school and kind of pouring pouring more energy, more content into into this community and helping people kind of ride this wave. And finally, you know, if you're someone who's just kind of interested, cart curious, we like to call it, or just interested in starting a business or working for yourself, you we'll we're we we'll be producing more and more content, not just podcasts, but you know short form videos, tutorials, guides. We have our our community that we just launched to kind of help you get started because ⁓ Our thesis is that the mobile the mobile business is kind of the best startup of the twenty twenty six, basically, bec for the reasons we talked about. It's a it's low low cost, low barrier to entry, mostly just based on kind of hustle and and willingness to get out there and and work and get the leads and get the s learn the skill and serve people and it's AI proof, right? There's n there's if you're concerned about your desk job or whatever, that it's getting into like physical services is really appealing to people. making beautiful cocktails, making beautiful cappuccinos is something that is more tangible and more human.
Daniel: Yep. That's awesome. if you've been hanging out with us for the last sixty two episodes, and ⁓ wondering, well, things gonna change? I like what was. I don't I don't want you guys to shake things up too much. rest assured, we're gonna take really everything that we've been doing and just two X, three X, four X, kind of the the volume ⁓ and the through which we are trying deliver those sorts of Conversations and insights. we're still going to have amazing operators and business owners on the podcast. Again, the aperture of that will continue to open up beyond just coffee catering and into caterers and mobile businesses overall. We going to continue to have conversations amongst ourselves, getting feedback the community, doing QA type conversations. We're also excited use this as an to talk about business. more generally or running a business in the mobile context, but then just how to operate a business overall, getting into nuts and bolts of different elements of business ownership, whether that be marketing advertising, what your product is, your pricing, how you're selling things, just the the whole gamut of of being out there and financials, profit and loss, how you make business decisions. How you think about what you should work on versus delegate, hiring, just everything that we've already done. but continuing to explore it from this mobile business angle. So I'm really looking forward to it. Obviously, most of you know, Justin's kind of the mobile cart operator, has the the backbone in that. We Zach and I have learned a ton through these sixty two episodes and working on flash quotes. but I think it'll be really fun to to bring an angle of discussion and expertise and exploration from our own ⁓ experience and working working on flash quotes and working in businesses ⁓ throughout our career. So we am looking forward to it.
Zach Capshaw: Yeah. I want to add to that like exactly kind of what people can expect from us over the neck over the rest of twenty twenty six and and beyond. So very ⁓ we s we're still intending to publish a podcast episode every Friday. So ⁓ the continues on YouTube and Spotify and Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts. it will be a mixture of entrepreneur interviews and table topics or and QA from our community. So that that's that hasn't really changed. That'll continue as as a every Friday type deal. We also be publishing more ⁓ what have been ⁓ on our media handles. So if you follow us on Instagram or TikTok, you're gonna see clips like best the podcast, but also ⁓ other types of short form content, videos, resources, carousels, ⁓ just things that things that we think are interesting. We're we're gonna experiment with some new formats on top of just ⁓ highlights from the podcast on on our Instagram. will our community is kind of a new thing. We've had we had a we had an old community and we kind of migrated it over to a a better platform. So if you go to mobile business school dot com, you ⁓ that's the link to our to our community. It's a free place to join. There's there's well, I think when we get everyone mo migrated, there'll be over a hundred entrepreneurs in there and more more joining every day to insights with each other to kind of learn from each other to ask questions from the group and share in the collective knowledge. But we're planning on on doing some really cool stuff in that community. exclusive ⁓ content and AMAs with some big, big names in the industry, Q and like QA or live live streaming type stuff where you guys can hop in with us and ask us questions in real time. really some
Justin: Thank
Zach Capshaw: Yeah, I won't won't give it all away, but we've got some cool stuff. So make sure that you join. It's free, mobile business school.com. Just hop in there, sign up, so that you can stay on top of all the stuff we're doing. and then live events is is is a big piece of the vision too. We we had an amazing experience at World of Coffee. We are planning an amazing experience at the end of this month in Denver for level five five. So we are planning continu doing more trade shows, but also just do putting on more master f masterminds conferences ⁓ meetups for people in the space, probably different sizes and scales to see what works and what what people like. But follow along as well in in mobile business school dot com for for information on our live events.
Daniel: Yeah, and I think we'll probably have some of a growing roster of educators or people that we can you if you really want to deep dive or get into like a consulting type relationship l to to supercharge your growth in space. think that's gonna be something that we wanna help facilitate as well, which would be cool. And just helping w with all as hear so many different aspects of ⁓ starting this business, right? Like how do I do SEO? How do I get a website that looks good and converts? How do I How do I do like Google ads in a productive way that has a good return on investment? And we're trying pay attention to that. We incorporate certain things into flash quotes, but where it doesn't make and where it's ancillary, we're either looking for opportunities to connect you with people that we think are world class at that or even provide services and opportunities where we might be able to to help with that sort of thing as well. So it's exciting time.
Zach Capshaw: And if you have feedback or questions or topics you want to hear, I mean we'd love to hear that. That's kind how we've built the podcast based on a lot of feedback from people so far. So drop a comment on this wherever you're listening and tell us if there's an ama you know, if there's a topic you'd like to hear about, if you have questions, if there's a an awesome mobile entrepreneur that follow ⁓ on social media you think would be a great guest, we'd ⁓ we'd love we'd love that type of stuff. So drop a comment, let us know, and we're we'll use that to to ⁓ shape the direction that we go from here.
Daniel: Nice. else to be said?
Zach Capshaw: Level five live. it's around the corner. It's not too late. You got as the as of this recording, you got like a couple weeks if you wanna buy the last few tickets. There's only a few left. it's gonna be an amazing event with some some some amazing speakers. the people who are attending are gonna be great. We're facilitating a lot of cool group discussions. We're gonna be matching you up with some other entrepreneurs and a in kind of a a peer group to work on and how to improve your business and stick to each. stick to it with each other. We've set up a private chat for people who are attending in our school community. So working on pouring a lot into this and making sure that it's a that it's a huge ROI for your business if and it's a like a no brainer if you're in the in the mobile business space. So ⁓ you haven't bought your ticket yet, ⁓ there's still time, but not much longer. So level5live.com, check it out and come join us for our first live event in June on June twenty fifth in Denver.
Daniel: That's gonna be sweet. At the end you can float down a river with Justin, you can play spike ball. It's gonna be just so much good good stuff. I'm looking forward to it.
Zach Capshaw: I would advise you to pick Daniel to be on your team at Spike Ball. Don't don't play against Daniel unless you wanna badly and possibly hurt yourself in the process 'cause he is a he is a beast of the spike.
Justin: you
Daniel: Have been having fun. Although I haven't played in a while. I've been pickleballing. let's play some pickleball too. Justin, need to play some pickleball, bro.
Justin: No, don't because so rusty.
Daniel: is how you unrestify.
Justin: I need it to be a gentle, unresting, so harsh, not a... Yeah, not a sandblasting.
Daniel: the only that's the only way I unrust, dude. ⁓
Zach Capshaw: No, don't force it.
Daniel: All right. Well, Maybe I'll hit this topic suggestion. Yeah, like Zach said, if you have any feedback, please drop it in the comments, let us know. We're gonna actually be doing and exploring some kind of master class type episodes too, as as far as content is concerned, where one us jumps on maybe kind of a learning whiteboard session, different things, different illustrations to really help get the point across and hopefully provide some material. So ⁓ if there's you'd really ⁓ Love to learn about, love for us to go deeper on, feel like we just have not answered question to your satisfaction. jump on the school, mobile business school dot com. Let us know. There's a little section in there called Ask the Pod and could leave comments anywhere else, but that's a great place to do it.
Zach Capshaw: Yeah. Another format we're talking about that I'm I'm excited about, curious what people think about this is like a roast my business or or event in in the community. So if would want to hop on a live stream and have talk to us for fifteen minutes and have have Justin kinda tear down your website, your your conversion rate, your ⁓ your pricing, packaging, like whatever you whatever you think you want help with with your with your mobile cart business, that's gonna be a fun thing that we're gonna try and do with the community is ⁓ is roast some businesses. I think it's beneficial for the people who volunteer, but also just we can all learn from from that ⁓ kind of real time riffing on people's business ideas. So again, mobile business school dot com, that's where all this happens.
Justin: It'll be a kind roast. It'll be a-
Zach Capshaw: Justin's very gentle and and thoughtful when he t just tells you that this is so bad and you need to be better at the no actually watched you very skillfully tell people that their that their website needs some improvement in a in a very tactful way. So good job.
Justin: Yes, thank you, thank you.
Daniel: All right, with that, we will not belabor the point. Mobile business school, mobile business podcast. We're super excited for what's to come and the rest of this year and beyond. And we appreciate you. Thanks for hanging out.
Justin: See you next week.
