Speaker 1: It was a big weekend of football, ladies and gentlemen. Jose Mourinho, football heritage. The special one is back at Real Madrid after 13 years. Oh, it's great. I just love seeing Mourinho managing. We'll talk about El Clasico. Lots of drama. Spurs are back in business and they defeated my beloved Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which hasn't happened in, I believe, 36 years. Manchester United, what's going on? How much time does Carrick have left? We should really be using this, but United, it's pretty crazy how far they have fallen. And some of the good stories from the Egli, of course, over the weekend. Make sure you stick around. Hola, como estas? Let's talk El Clasico. Barca v Madrid, one of the tales as old as time. Vinny Jr. was left out of the squad. Was it the real Vinny Jr. or was it the one that's been created, you know, the AI one? I don't know. It was the Mbappe show at the Camp Nou this morning. The Real Madrid superstar scored two goals, taking his tally to eight goals. in seven games in El Clasico. That's massive.
00:01:09
Speaker 2: He's got 14 in 13 games this season. Ballon d'Or conversations are up in the air again, you know, and to contrast, Lamao had a quiet game, you know, five chances, five shots on goal.
00:01:36
Speaker 1: Didn't really do too much, you know, especially when the Ballon d'Or's coming up. Everyone's got to perform. Now, Barca dominated 62% possession to Real Madrid's 38%. Now, I know we don't care about possession that much, but when it's a Mourinho team, you love to see that because you know he doesn't really care about having the ball. Mourinho's not fussed about. We're not here. We're here to defend and we're here to counter-attack and we're here to do something with the ball. And that's exactly what Madrid did. Barcelona had 18 shots to Madrid's 10. Take a look at that. Compare that to the Sydney derby the other week. I know, I know. Completely different leagues, completely different players. Completely different teams. But that's what I want to see when I see a Derby game. I want to see people flying at it, shots, goals, all of that kind of malarkey. Now, Jose Mourinho was back to El Clasico after 13 years apart. This felt like the Madrid of old. This felt like it was Bell, Ronaldo. That's what I was feeling when it was the Camp Nou. And during his spell in charge of Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, he recorded five assists. victories in 17 El Clasico matches alongside six draws and six defeats. Not a bad record. One of the huge talking points of the game is the special one said Barcelona should have had a man sent off. Cancelo's tackle on Di Monde. Let's have a little look at this. Pulling on the man. He's got a hold of him. He wants his shirt number and he's also still on the back of his foot. That stamp. I don't know. Red card worthy. You know what I like about them on their day? He's not made a meal of that. He could have easily gone down, you know, as some Spanish players might have clutched their legs, rolled around, made a whole circus of that, but he's just played on. And that's the reason why it's probably not been a red card given that. 100% a yellow card. I don't know if he's even got a yellow card for that. So, you know, there is some truth to that, Mourinho. I do agree with you, mate. You know, you're a Chelsea legend and I can't disagree with you too much. What I do love as well is that these ref cams have changed the game because I feel like I'm watching my pro on an old FIFA team because I just love it. Let's rewind to Bellingham's Maradona. Look at this. Oh my God, that is class. Maradona into the pass to Kamavinga who then gets the third man running. They whip it in. This is beautiful, beautiful football. That... That's the game we love. That's art, ladies and gentlemen. Make sure we get more of those ref cams because I feel like I'm on the pitch for the players. Now, ladies and gentlemen, to the Premier League, how about Spurs? Now, I'm a Chelsea fan. For those of you that don't know, this game really, really pissed me off as a Chelsea fan. Spurs are battling for relegation. We're in the top half of the table trying to get to fourth, fifth in the Champions League spot. And the one game you flipping Spurs guys decide to turn up for is the game against Chelsea. Fuck off, man. You're pissing me off now. Do you know what I mean? For me, and not even for me, if we're going to go by a stats thing and we're looking at the stats over the past years, they've only won one game at Stamford Bridge in their last 33 appearances. Do you know what I mean? Alonso, I'm trying not to put you in the bin, But losing games like this is really, really tickling me. Now, without João Pedro, you can see we're definitely a different team. They spent, you know, 400 million in the summer, Spurs did, and they sit in 14th place. Question everyone's asking, you know, and I'm not going to take, you know, I don't want to take away, Spurs did play well, and that's probably the best that they've played all season. I have to give them that. They were, they possessed the ball, they were creating chances, they were doing all these kind of things, and I'll give him that, but I'm just annoyed that why do it against my team? Do it against Bournemouth or Crystal Palace. Palmer, I think he played all right. I think he did decent. He was sent off. The first yellow, if we want to talk about the first yellow, actually could have been a sending off for the Spurs player because he slid into him. It's a slide tackle and he's handballed it. So deliberate handball and you fouled our player. And it's not a red card. And no one says anything. But you want to give Palmer a second yellow for this. So let's take a look at it. If it wasn't my team, 100% give it. Do you know what I mean? To be fair, he stood on his ankle. You know them ones there where you just, you give them a little, you give them a little, don't argue, you know, just a little, let them know that you saw them take out my man, your friend. So that's what happened there. Definitely, probably a red card. I'm just annoyed that. I think there should have been a red card given earlier in the game. But, you know, Spurs, well done. You got one of your first wins in 30-odd years. Moving on from Spurs, what else has happened in the Premier League? Let's look somewhere called Manchester. Manchester United are clearly, well and truly in the mud. And I love to see it. I love to see them suffering. It's just, it's a beautiful scene. It's a beautiful thing. It's been a few years. And I still love to see it. United are sitting 16th place. Carrick's job is hanging in the balance. 3-0 to Bournemouth. You lot made Bournemouth look like Real Madrid. Do you know what I mean? They were possessing tiki-taka goals. The defence, United, you shat yourselves. Do you know what I mean? Playing out the back, not confident. And the thing about United now, when teams go there, and I know we've been saying this for a while, is they can smell blood. Do you know what I mean? They can smell that you're not You're not 100% confident and you lost to Como in the week. If anyone watched that game, oh my God, they got absolutely slaughtered. Bruno Fernandes, you know, there was a lot of people saying that he's one of the greats and one of this and one of that and one of the people to lead United to the next generation. But it does look like Fernandes is out there for himself. You know, he's not tracking back, you know, not leading the team out. I thought he was going to lead the team. The balance between the gaffer and the players seems like the gaffer's on one page and the player's on the other. They don't know whether to press, hold back, compact, get the ball and play. It's just, it's a shit show there. And it doesn't start with the gaffer. United are 16th in just one point above the relegation zone. So this could be a relegation battle year for United, which we all want to see. And that's a 3-0 loss to Bournemouth, extends their winless run to eight games in all competitions. Even worse, here's this for a stat. Bournemouth have won by three goals at Old Trafford. The theatre of dreams. This place is supposed to be feared by everyone. Three times in four seasons under three different United managers. You lot want to say the gaffer's the problem. Clearly, whatever system you're running, it's just not working for you. Now, I am curious, United fans listening and United fans all over the world, where you see your club going. Because, again, I said it on the last spot, it just feels like there's a fundamental issue. It's rotten to the core. And you've changed, you're always changing the gaffer. I think you've even changed sporting directors. You've changed technical directors. It's still not working. 13 years after Sir Alex Ferguson left, 10 managers later, and nothing seems to have changed. Statistically, Mourinho is probably the best permanent manager post-Fergie. And I think a lot of you might remember what the special one said when he left United. We thought he was crazy when he came out with a statement. He said... Finishing second with United is his greatest ever footballing achievement. And he won the Premier League with us. 58% win rate. This was Mourinho, by the way. Europa League, League Cup, 84 wins in 144 games in all competitions. His 1.7 points per game is the best among post-Fergie managers. Now, my question to you guys is as well, do you guys regret... sacking Mourinho do you think Mourinho could have actually did you did you take Mourinho for granted because I feel like you did Mourinho did all that still got sacked Eric Ten Hag won the League Cup FA Cup yet he was gone in October 2024 Louis van Gaal even more brew United sacked him two days after winning the FA Cup oh my god United fans I feel for you You know, Chelsea, we're not in that deep of a mud situation. We are going through transitional periods, but I don't think anything is as worse as United or Spurs at the moment. It's a pleasure to see. United have seven points from their opening eight Premier League games with one win, four draws and three losses. That's their worst return at this stage of the Premier League season since 1986. Coincidentally, That's the season that Fergie arrived. Some big history for you guys. Just reminding you guys the historicness of this club. And the interesting thing about United fans, if you watch the United game, the closing moments, Carrick walks off, the fans were clapping Carrick and then booing the players. Now that tells me that they realise it doesn't matter who the gaffer is, the players aren't performing. and the fans have realised that and it seems like players are being held accountable but they also they're not filling the shoes of being a United player and that's ultimately been one of the downfalls let's switch it up to the A-League what I love so much the A-League is humming you know I know I was you know I was kicking the kicking the doors in of the Sydney the Sydney Derby last week we saw 19 goals in 6 games this is a this is a goal scoring league ladies and gentlemen 18 goals in five games in the women's. Friend of the pod, Harrison, a little bit of a nightmare. We'll let you off, Harrison. Keep us making mistakes. We still love you. Against Adelaide in the 15th minute. But Sky Blues dug deep. 2-1 win. Now, if we take a look at the goal that Sydney FC conceded, they're playing out the back. I see what Harrison's trying to do. First time pass, trying to play quickly. Should the CB, or I think this is the midfielder, he's dropped in deep. He's taken a touch back towards goal. Kind of set him up a little bit. I think he's got obviously just smashing up there. We cannot be playing around with the football back here, my friend. The ball has to go in the corners, my friend. But again, he's probably trying to do what the gaffer has told him to do. Hey, under pressure, I don't care. We're playing out from the back. We're keeping this football. And Sydney, you see, we're doing it last week. So fair play. If that's in the makeup system of what they're doing, mistakes are going to happen. Yeah, I mean, it don't matter because they won. Shout out to, you know, friends of the pod, Harrison and Torre getting there. Torre got an assist, I believe. And, you know, Sydney, you look like they're flying. Don't forget about the Wanderers as well. Wanderers, you know, I gave you some smack and some shit talking last weekend. But this weekend, you definitely did deliver with that 5-2 win over Auckland. Reigning champions now. And what I liked about Wanderers was goals galore, creating chances, playing free-flowing football. It's beautiful to see. Hey, it looks positive. It's just one game. It looks positive. And I'm happy to see we've got some young guys coming up, man. We love your A-League. And we are huge supporters of the A-League. And we understand you're trying to grow the game. But this is one thing that I don't know if I can get around. Pre-tunnel interviews. They interviewed Craig Goodwin just before he's leading out his team. This is probably why they lost.
00:13:49
Speaker 2: A little bit awkward doing an interview in front of the opposition, to be honest.
00:13:54
Speaker 1: You know? Like, his head's probably like, mate, I'm trying to get in the zone here and I'm being asked questions about being passionate or whatnot. What do we think about this, A-League fans? Everyone else is in the background just looking at him. You know, you've got the mascots, you've got all of that. Everyone's zoned in and he's having to... be politically correct and not swear and do all of that kind of malarkey. I don't know. You guys tell me what you think in the comments. I'm not for this A-League. I'm for interviews, but I don't know if I'm for pre-game tunnel interviews. Imagine trying to interview this United team in a tunnel. Imagine what would happen. Roy Keane would slap you in the face. Do you know what I mean? Gary Neville would just walk straight past you. Imagine trying to interview them Before they go out. They're in the zone. This is like kill. You're in killer mode. I'm about to go out there and dominate. I ain't got no time for chats with media. Come on. Come on. I know what you're trying to do, but come on. To speak on the A-League as well, we love referees stamping out diving for our game. Now, I do love a few players from Brisbane Royal, but this is a dive if I've ever seen one, mate. Should be Spanish the way you were diving there, lad. And the ref's giving him a yellow, I believe. And what are you complaining about, mate? He's tripped over his own feet. And this is why people hate football players sometimes. I know what you're trying to do, attackers. I know what you're trying to do, strikers and wingers. I get it. Simulation sorting. But we've got to stamp it out in our game. Especially not in the A-League. We don't want to see none of that. Let them go do that over in Europe. Do you know what I mean? In the games that we also don't care about. We don't want to sit in the A-League. That got me thinking. Perth and Brizzy. Throwback to Grand Final 2012. 94th minute. 1-1 Brisbane Royal and Perth Glory. This happens. Besar Barisha. Top baller I heard. I've done my research on him. Sort of player that you want on your team. And if he's not on your team, you're pissed off. Look at him. He's hacking through defenders. He's just making life difficult for everyone. I love a striker like that. But was it a pen? he's done enough work to earn himself a penalty there. That's what I will say. Do you know what I mean? He's dribbled through, through quick feet, in and out. Balls bobbled up. Horrendous pitch there, man. Saw it at the stadium. Grand final. How's your balls? Big and solid in the grand final, mate. I love that. Look at the crowd. Where are all the Brisbane Raw fans now? I'd love... Where are they all gone? Full Suncorp Stadium, 2012. Grand final. Where are all the Brisbane Raw fans now? I didn't even know they had fans like this. It's crazy. All right, guys, thanks for listening.
