We Never Gave Up, Edward Norton's Annoying and A Beastie Boy Got Hawaiian Punched 🌴🏝️🥊 | Ep. 174

Episode 174 of the Sunburnt Podcast finds hosts Thomas O'Brien (Emmy Award-winning producer) and Chip Chantry (Netflix comedian) broadcasting from vacation while re-airing their long-lost recap of Chip Chantry's Thanksgiving in Paradise at the Blue Note Hawaii.

This one is packed with big wins and HUGE confessions. After a year of planning an promoting, the sunburnt boys finally put on their first tropical comedy event in Waikiki. Thomas reveals the time R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe stood in front of him at a 30 Rock buffet — and how a certain Fight Club actor allegedly used Stipe as a social shield to cut the line. Then there's the story of Ad-Rock of the Beastie Boys getting in a fight. The boys also admit to a secret, never-aired first episode recorded straight off the plane from Hawaii: 90 minutes of pure guttural screaming into the microphones.

On the travel side, Chip finally reveals whether Hawaii lived up to a full year of hype, shares his most peaceful moment watching the sunrise over Diamond Head, and breaks down the legendary ABC Store $15 float strategy that turned his skeptical wife into a true believer. Plus the Waikiki 5K, the best beach burger of all time, and the pay-it-forward float tradition.

Main topics: Friends achieving a year long business goal, celebrity encounters, behind-the-scenes podcast stories, the Waikiki float experience, friendship, and building a comedy-and-tropical-travel life.
