Packers Total Access: 🏈 This Tucker Kraft Update Is GREAT News For The Packers Offense! Will He Break Out In Tampa?

The most quietly encouraging and strategically important Tucker Kraft development of the entire 2026 season just dropped — and the picture heading into Sunday's game at Raymond James Stadium is more favorable for a Kraft breakout performance than at any point since his four-touchdown stretch in October 2025! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers confirmed their own great news for Green Bay's offense in their official game preview — directly quoted head coach Todd Bowles saying "Tucker Kraft is playing very well" while identifying him as the Packers' primary big-play threat alongside Jordan Love, Christian Watson, and Matthew Golden. The Buccaneers are preparing specifically for Kraft — which means their defensive preparation is centered on a player who has 9 catches for 106 yards and zero touchdowns through three games and is still visibly working his way back to full form after his November 2025 ACL tear. The great news: the Week 4 matchup against Tampa Bay gives Kraft a real, specific, and analytically grounded chance to look like himself again. The Buccaneers are starting rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels — not Baker Mayfield — after Mayfield's thumb injury kept him out of both Wednesday and Thursday's practices, forcing the 0-3 Tampa Bay defense into desperation mode that creates the exact blitz-heavy environment where Kraft has historically thrived as Love's first read hot route option. Matt LaFleur hinted this week that the offense will adapt with more short and underneath throws — and that is precisely the territory where Kraft can dominate, where the new offensive line's limitations matter least, and where the best version of the Jordan Love-Tucker Kraft connection lives.

In this complete Tucker Kraft great news breakdown and full will-he-break-out-in-Tampa evaluation, we dive into:

• The Great News — Why The Buccaneers Matchup Is Perfect For Kraft: The Buccaneers' blitz rate could create hot routes where Kraft becomes the main target — and the combination of Tampa's defensive desperation with a rookie quarterback making his NFL debut creating a pressured offensive environment that produces three-and-outs is exactly the scenario where Love goes to his most trusted weapon on short, quick throws underneath the coverage. Green Bay has been much more effective with Kraft, Jonnu Smith, and Mark Redman on the field at the same time — the three-tight-end 13 personnel package — and while the Buccaneers defend 13 personnel well, the addition of veteran offensive linemen changes the protection picture that has made every offensive package ineffective through three weeks. The most important individual matchup on the entire field Sunday is Kraft against Tampa's linebacker corps in coverage — a matchup Kraft dominated at 15.3 yards per catch in 2025 before his injury.
• Why Kraft Has Been Underwhelming — The ACL Context: Kraft has 9 catches for 106 yards and zero touchdowns on 17 targets through three games — numbers that look modest but that carry critical context. He committed two drops in the Falcons game. He has been limited to a short-area role in an offense that has been operating in permanent negative game script since the fourth quarter of the Minnesota game. The Packers' offensive line has been so compromised that Love has had to throw before routes develop — compressing every passing concept including the seam routes and intermediate crossing patterns that make Kraft's 15.3 yards per catch from 2025 possible. LaFleur hinted this week that the offense will adapt with more short and underneath throws — and that is the single most encouraging schematic signal for Kraft's Week 4 performance that the coaching staff has delivered all season.
• Rookie QB Jalon Daniels — The Most Favorable Individual Defensive Setup Of The Season: Baker Mayfield's thumb kept him out of both Wednesday and Thursday's practices — and the Buccaneers' confirmed starter for Sunday is rookie Jalon Daniels, making his NFL debut. For Jonathan Gannon's defense — which has been specifically designed to confuse inexperienced quarterbacks with exotic pre-snap looks and disguised coverages — a first-year quarterback making his first regular-season start against the third-highest pressure rate in the entire NFL is the single most favorable individual defensive matchup the Packers have faced all season. Edgerrin Cooper's blitzing, Lukas Van Ness's edge pressure, and Brandon Cisse's coverage are all specifically designed to exploit exactly the kind of decision-making limitations a rookie quarterback faces in his debut. Gannon has never had a more perfectly aligned defensive scenario to generate turnovers and short fields for Jordan Love's offense.
• The "I Love This Team" Leadership Moment — What Kraft Said Monday: Kraft told the media on Monday "I love this team" — a declaration that came in the context of discussing the mindset heading into Week 4 after the humbling Falcons loss and the booing at Lambeau Field. Kraft was candid about the "humbling" nature of the Week 3 loss and directly addressed the championship identity this team must reclaim. The player who called the fan booing "disappointing" and who took a stand for the coaching staff and the locker room when it was most difficult is the same player who now walks into Raymond James Stadium as the most important individual offensive weapon on the entire Green Bay Packers roster — with Jayden Reed on IR, Josh Jacobs on the exempt list, and the offensive line still being assembled around him.
• The Full Breakout Case — Why Sunday Is Kraft's Game: The Buccaneers identified Kraft as a primary threat. LaFleur hinted at more short and underneath throws. Tampa's blitz rate creates exactly the hot route opportunities where Kraft's hands and yards-after-catch dominate. The 13 personnel package with Kraft, Smith, and Redman gives Love multiple two-tight-end options that force the defense to choose its poison. And the new-look offensive line — with Kevin Zeitler settling into right guard reps, Laken Tomlinson getting left guard work, and Love's players-only get-together accelerating chemistry — is better than anything Love has started a game behind in the entire 2026 season so far. Tucker Kraft breaks out in Tampa on Sunday. The line has been assembled. The route has been set. Go Pack Go!
