Dr Joseph DiRuzzo and the Optimal Human Experience Podcast.
00:00:25.463 --> 00:00:34.295
Welcome to Episode 7 of the Optimal Human Experience Podcast with Dr Joseph DiRuzzo.
00:00:34.295 --> 00:00:43.368
I'm Paul Andrew, I'm the Ringmaster of sorts, but the main attraction in the center ring.
00:00:43.368 --> 00:00:47.905
Ladies and gentlemen, dr Joseph DiRuzzo, what do you want to talk about?
00:00:48.883 --> 00:00:50.046
Let's talk about everything.
00:00:50.046 --> 00:00:52.240
Hey might as well.
00:00:53.472 --> 00:00:55.552
We've got 30 minutes We'll talk about everything.
00:00:56.963 --> 00:00:57.363
You go first.
00:00:58.240 --> 00:00:59.063
How it all fits together.
00:00:59.063 --> 00:01:10.090
I delight in pulling things together from obtuse sources and this will make perfect sense to you after you hear it.
00:01:10.090 --> 00:01:29.150
I was practicing privately in private practice in way up near the Canadian border, where it is cloudy most of the time and it is so dark that if you're thirsty you can take a cup, go outside and reach up and scoop a cup of fresh water out of the clouds.
00:01:29.150 --> 00:01:36.168
I used to wash things, wash clothes and put them outside to dry, and three days later they'd still be wet.
00:01:36.168 --> 00:01:47.433
So it was dark and in the absence of sunlight, to generate irradiated ergotarol in your skin or vitamin D.
00:01:47.433 --> 00:01:56.233
There is a relationship between the absorption of calcium and vitamin D and hydrochloric acid.
00:01:56.944 --> 00:01:59.239
So these moms would bring in these little kids and they'd be sick.
00:01:59.239 --> 00:02:13.127
They'd be blowing green stuff out of their nose, they would have tubes in their ears, they would be oh and so they'd say, and the mothers would be like psychotic with frustration and I'd say, well, what's wrong?
00:02:13.127 --> 00:02:21.667
And they'd say he's sick and I've taken him to every doctor and he's on penicillin and moxacillin and erythromycin and he's not getting better.
00:02:21.667 --> 00:02:26.405
And if you're a parent, if you're a parent, you have.
00:02:26.405 --> 00:02:31.514
I mean, there's no desperation, like when your child is sick or whatever.
00:02:32.419 --> 00:02:43.710
So I would give them calcium lactate, a very easily digested calcium, and I would give them a cod liver oil tablet.
00:02:43.710 --> 00:02:59.240
Sometimes I'd give them a teaspoon of cod liver oil and characteristically, the kids would just simply fall asleep in their mother's arms shortly after they got the calcium, and they were always running a low grade temperature.
00:02:59.240 --> 00:03:01.561
Why Well?
00:03:01.561 --> 00:03:11.302
The body was trying to dissolve some calcium out of the bones and put it in the circulating superficial circulation right Universally.
00:03:11.302 --> 00:03:19.794
Almost every time, within a couple of minutes, the kid would quiet right down and the moms would look at me with eyes of silent adoration.
00:03:21.282 --> 00:03:23.449
I mean boy, did I get him to sleep?
00:03:23.449 --> 00:03:27.228
He's not screaming with pain and in horror.
00:03:28.661 --> 00:03:36.323
Yeah, and the green stuff you know coming out of their nose and various orifices In the industrial age.
00:03:36.323 --> 00:03:52.219
All of a sudden we had food, we had lots of it and much of it was refined and they took the goodness out of the food and fed it to the pigs and then you paid extra to five pig meat and almost everybody is sick.
00:03:52.219 --> 00:04:00.514
And along with this sickness comes an accentuation of the problems that come inside of interpersonal relationships.
00:04:00.514 --> 00:04:02.502
You know, I know this guy who's?
00:04:02.502 --> 00:04:08.324
He's a good guy but he's a little short of patience and he's irritable and uh, oh, please.
00:04:08.324 --> 00:04:12.170
There are times when I'll say something to him and he'll.
00:04:12.170 --> 00:04:16.064
You know he'll, he's right on, he needs is right on the edge.
00:04:16.125 --> 00:04:16.906
Is that what you're saying?
00:04:19.440 --> 00:04:23.362
Every relationship has to be managed, there's no question about it.
00:04:23.362 --> 00:04:26.651
Your primary relationship, the relationship with your kids.
00:04:26.651 --> 00:04:32.220
I suggested something for you to do with your children about a week ago and you did it.
00:04:32.220 --> 00:04:33.925
What's what?
00:04:33.966 --> 00:04:34.487
do you notice?
00:04:34.487 --> 00:04:41.240
Well, we got what's called a knock hockey game.
00:04:41.240 --> 00:04:52.199
It's like a big board and it's a hockey with little hockey sticks and a wooden puck, and and you, you slap the thing off the board and try to get it through the through the goal.
00:04:52.199 --> 00:04:55.807
And what I noticed is, first of all, it's fun.
00:04:55.807 --> 00:05:05.160
Second of all, I beat them mercilessly to know not really they actually, you know pretty dang you, they're pretty good at it.
00:05:06.584 --> 00:05:07.569
Let them win once in a while.
00:05:07.569 --> 00:05:08.331
But what do you notice?
00:05:08.351 --> 00:05:10.240
Let them win they win, they went on their own.
00:05:10.240 --> 00:05:11.783
What the heck are you talking about?
00:05:11.783 --> 00:05:12.386
Let them win.
00:05:12.386 --> 00:05:15.108
Yeah, they kick my butt, all right.
00:05:15.108 --> 00:05:16.240
So what do you notice?
00:05:16.240 --> 00:05:43.240
Well, I tell you this there's a lot more human interaction than there is when we play, for example, a video game together, or we sit down in front of the, the pixels of the of the television, and watch some seemingly child show that invariably has some other hidden message right underneath the surface.
00:05:43.540 --> 00:05:56.036
That's probably inappropriate for children, but so intergalactic entertainment really doesn't compare to like face to face doing something with your hands, kinesthetic yelling, having fun smiles.
00:05:56.036 --> 00:06:03.973
How hard would, how hard would it be for your child to turn you to you and say I hate you, you never did anything for me.
00:06:03.973 --> 00:06:05.805
I mean, it's not going to happen.
00:06:06.406 --> 00:06:07.028
Yeah, yeah.
00:06:07.028 --> 00:06:16.790
They can say mostly what I hear is dad, Because I made some bad joke but it's as bad as it gets.
00:06:17.399 --> 00:06:28.894
We have report deprivation sickness between the generations and on top of it, the younger generations has a severe disorientation from not having enough practical life experience.
00:06:28.894 --> 00:06:44.228
You know, and I was watching on on YouTube, there was there's a guy and he has those show and he has a half a dozen women and they all talk about how horrible things are and how men are inadequate and women are worse.
00:06:44.228 --> 00:06:52.406
And there was a gal sitting second row behind and the camera was focused on her and she had a.
00:06:52.406 --> 00:06:56.052
She had a hat that was reminiscent of Kaiser Wilhelm.
00:06:56.052 --> 00:06:57.351
Ever see that one?
00:06:58.939 --> 00:07:00.363
And she had long beautiful hair.
00:07:00.363 --> 00:07:01.841
Kind of weird reference.
00:07:01.920 --> 00:07:19.947
Okay, oh, she did this and anyways, she was not on the camera To the bus, best of her knowledge, she was sitting back and I got the opportunity to watch her face in and Unguarded moment.
00:07:19.947 --> 00:07:25.548
She had this sad little face.
00:07:25.548 --> 00:07:32.728
Where did she have that sad little face for the very first time?
00:07:35.223 --> 00:07:39.259
Okay, the very first time Dab in the dark.
00:07:39.259 --> 00:07:44.245
I'm going to say she probably was making that face before.
00:07:44.324 --> 00:07:47.540
she was even born and it was so obvious.
00:07:47.540 --> 00:07:52.665
That was her natural face, that was the face that she, that was her default position.
00:07:52.665 --> 00:08:01.963
You can almost hear her father in the background going Doris, I thought I told you to make sure that you got your birth control pill prescription filled up.
00:08:01.963 --> 00:08:03.346
You didn't forget it, did you?
00:08:03.346 --> 00:08:09.637
We can't have a baby now, poor girl I mean.
00:08:09.637 --> 00:08:10.581
So here she is.
00:08:10.581 --> 00:08:16.997
She's getting report deprivation sickness installed almost on a professional basis, and you can see.
00:08:16.997 --> 00:08:18.041
You can see it.
00:08:18.041 --> 00:08:22.365
You can see it in the, in their faces, just sitting there, the sad little face.
00:08:22.365 --> 00:08:26.581
She's 22 years old, nobody loves me, and she was beautiful.
00:08:26.581 --> 00:08:30.185
All relationships have to be managed.
00:08:30.185 --> 00:08:32.583
All relationships have to be managed.
00:08:32.583 --> 00:08:37.686
All relationships have to be managed and it can be fun and easy.
00:08:38.894 --> 00:08:54.720
Dave Dobson, when he met a new client everybody has a characteristic pace and walk and waddle, you know, and he would like he would, from across the parking lot, walk up to them in the same walk that they were walking up to him with.
00:08:54.720 --> 00:08:58.202
It's a mirroring and pacing kind of thing.
00:08:58.202 --> 00:09:04.307
He would get reported them right down to their toenails and then he would ask them their name.
00:09:04.307 --> 00:09:07.542
He'd repeat their name back to them in the same tonality, cadence pace.
00:09:07.542 --> 00:09:18.799
And the guy had fabulous report and he used to say, and it's true, you just don't know it, a stranger is just a friend that you haven't met yet, a stranger.
00:09:18.799 --> 00:09:19.743
And he meant it.
00:09:19.743 --> 00:09:21.057
And boy he could.
00:09:21.057 --> 00:09:21.277
He.
00:09:21.277 --> 00:09:34.134
He said the world, if you understand it, the world is just full of really neat people who have got all kinds of information and other resources for you and they can be your friends Absolutely Well.
00:09:34.756 --> 00:09:37.263
So all relationships have to be managed.
00:09:37.263 --> 00:09:48.121
Report is based on matching matching external behavior, internal states, tone of voice, object, you know, content, whatever.
00:09:48.121 --> 00:09:55.899
And Dave used to say just go back every once in a while and model back to them some of their external behavior.
00:09:55.899 --> 00:10:01.523
It doesn't have to be long, it doesn't have to be long, but you have to like touch base from time to time.
00:10:01.523 --> 00:10:07.326
Right, and if you want to have a relationship, you're going to have to manage it.
00:10:07.326 --> 00:10:18.524
Fortunately, we have our NLP tools, we have prenatal re-imprinting, we have all the other technologies, dave Dobson's, other than conscious communication, and it's fun and it's easy and it's extremely productive.
00:10:19.238 --> 00:10:22.802
I mean, it's a matter of and it makes I'm going to interrupt you right there, just like I did.
00:10:22.802 --> 00:10:23.918
It makes sense.
00:10:23.918 --> 00:10:26.520
I'm sitting here thinking as a layman.
00:10:26.520 --> 00:10:36.028
It makes sense because people gravitate toward a particular type of other people.
00:10:36.028 --> 00:10:37.860
They feel comfortable in this group.
00:10:37.860 --> 00:10:40.481
They don't feel so comfortable in that group.
00:10:40.481 --> 00:10:44.264
And what is it about that group?
00:10:44.264 --> 00:10:47.443
Well, that group probably is kind of like them.
00:10:47.443 --> 00:10:51.748
I remember my one of my older daughters went through this phase of.
00:10:51.748 --> 00:10:59.899
I don't know if it was goth or emo or both, oh God that's wonderful, but it was basically.
00:10:59.918 --> 00:11:01.423
You know she wore black all the time.
00:11:01.423 --> 00:11:07.207
She had black, you know eye shadow and you know this drippy stuff on her.
00:11:07.207 --> 00:11:12.461
I mean, it's a little horrible, right, because she was such a pretty girl, but who am I to judge?
00:11:12.461 --> 00:11:22.663
And then I noticed she was hanging around with guess what Other people that looked like her and I said well, you know, why is it that?
00:11:22.663 --> 00:11:30.799
Why is it that you wear black all the time and you put this weird makeup on and you do all these things and you walk around with a big sour look on your face?
00:11:30.799 --> 00:11:32.940
Well, just trying to be different.
00:11:35.495 --> 00:11:37.783
I look at her and everybody else.
00:11:37.955 --> 00:11:40.860
I'm trying to be different by being exactly like my friends.
00:11:40.860 --> 00:11:44.187
Ok, ok, you know what.
00:11:44.187 --> 00:11:50.626
They were managing their relationships because they they felt comfortable hanging out with each other.
00:11:50.626 --> 00:11:53.140
Now, happily, she's through that phase.
00:11:54.615 --> 00:12:10.302
No disc, no disrespect to all you goths or emos or whatever it really is you know I would have paid you to take a black marker of some sort you know cosmetic and make three little tears under your eyes when you went and talked to her.
00:12:10.302 --> 00:12:14.759
I would, I would, I would Anything, you would get rapport with her.
00:12:15.721 --> 00:12:23.688
More than likely More than most people like, try to get rapport through screaming and by and large, it really doesn't work.
00:12:23.688 --> 00:12:31.432
It just doesn't work all that well and and it's rapport over time when I come from, there's this fellow named Simeon.
00:12:31.432 --> 00:12:45.553
He has a restaurant and he has, you know, like Syrian food and they have shish, kebabs and hummus and all this stuff and he will remember somebody's name if he hasn't seen him for five or 10 years.
00:12:45.553 --> 00:12:54.453
Oh wow, I mean, and he does the rapport thing to an extraordinary degree in a town that was population collapsing.
00:12:54.453 --> 00:12:57.504
Guess what there is a cost to he never had a problem.
00:12:57.841 --> 00:12:59.748
Yeah, probably made a big difference.
00:13:00.061 --> 00:13:01.706
People never knew about where to go.
00:13:01.706 --> 00:13:02.328
Where do you want to go?
00:13:02.328 --> 00:13:05.129
Let's go over there to that monkey guy.
00:13:05.129 --> 00:13:07.581
Oh, not, simeon Like.
00:13:07.702 --> 00:13:11.164
Simeon, simeon, ok, usually it's Syrian or what.
00:13:11.164 --> 00:13:12.903
Anyway, ok, yeah, it's.
00:13:12.903 --> 00:13:15.811
It's so much of it is, you know, based on rapport.
00:13:15.811 --> 00:13:17.765
So much of it's based on rapport.
00:13:17.765 --> 00:13:24.508
So, if you're, if you want a relationship and you have to do what is known as a second position, shift right.
00:13:24.508 --> 00:13:30.855
You have to look at a person and say, well, what are they experiencing when they're in my presence?
00:13:30.855 --> 00:13:43.779
Hmm, ok, and you have to be mindful of not only here's what I'm getting out of the deal and here's what I want to get out of the deal, but you also have to be mindful for the other person if you want a relationship that lasts over time.
00:13:43.779 --> 00:13:47.720
Short term rapport you just mirror back to them their external behavior.
00:13:47.720 --> 00:13:55.019
But long term rapport, you're going to need to model their external behavior, values, et cetera, and stay in rapport over time.
00:13:55.340 --> 00:13:58.169
How many you were in financial services?
00:13:58.169 --> 00:14:02.860
How many people send a Christmas card to their clients in the holidays?
00:14:02.860 --> 00:14:06.196
Well, most, if not all, most if not all.
00:14:06.196 --> 00:14:07.019
Guess what?
00:14:07.019 --> 00:14:08.940
It doesn't say anything yet.
00:14:08.940 --> 00:14:11.534
So, as I'm, I we're still in touch.
00:14:11.534 --> 00:14:12.500
I think of you from time to time.
00:14:12.500 --> 00:14:16.958
I still value as a client most if not all.
00:14:16.958 --> 00:14:17.259
And guess what?
00:14:17.259 --> 00:14:20.365
It's always Christmas time, always Christmas time.
00:14:20.365 --> 00:14:23.547
It's always Christmas time.
00:14:23.928 --> 00:14:28.731
Right, I got to buy more cards staying in rapport Absolutely critical.
00:14:28.731 --> 00:14:39.647
So you have the keys to the kingdom in the sense that you will play knock hockey with your kids and that will lead you to do other things where mind and body are involved.
00:14:39.647 --> 00:14:55.846
Your rapport will go be an ongoing thing long term and you will be spared A lot of the grief that comes from you know what goes on these days where the kids die their hair purple and decide and decide they're a cat, get a gay cat at that.
00:14:57.461 --> 00:14:59.008
Well, nothing with a happy cat.
00:14:59.441 --> 00:15:02.860
That's about that's a let's take a short break here.
00:15:02.860 --> 00:15:04.888
It's about halfway through our time.
00:15:04.888 --> 00:15:26.859
Just a reminder if you're enjoying what we're talking about, or you want to learn more about what we're talking about, or you want to see what kind of programs and courses Dr Joe has come up with over the years, we are in the process of making those available in an online format for the first time in decades and decades.
00:15:26.859 --> 00:15:36.340
The website is you guessed it Optimalhumanexperiencecom Optimalhumanexperiencecom.
00:15:36.340 --> 00:15:38.649
You can go there and find out more.
00:15:38.649 --> 00:15:40.178
Get on our mailing list.
00:15:40.178 --> 00:15:50.359
There's a, an email, kind of a short course email program that'll walk you through some of the basics of the optimal human experience.
00:15:50.359 --> 00:15:50.580
What is it?
00:15:50.580 --> 00:15:52.440
How do you, how do you get there?
00:15:52.440 --> 00:15:56.152
How do you have that experience for yourself?
00:15:56.152 --> 00:16:02.053
So, dr Joe, back to calcium lactate and you.
00:16:03.464 --> 00:16:04.749
Managing relationships.
00:16:04.749 --> 00:16:08.139
Calcium is such an important mineral in the body.
00:16:08.139 --> 00:16:14.908
It's a huge you know percentage and it's extremely important for the functioning of the nervous system.
00:16:14.908 --> 00:16:23.529
I had a fellow who was an engineer at General Electric and his wife was extraordinarily irritable.
00:16:24.849 --> 00:16:25.879
And I don't know why people like that.
00:16:25.879 --> 00:16:27.057
How can they act like that?
00:16:27.057 --> 00:16:28.339
That's just horrible.
00:16:29.504 --> 00:16:32.580
Well, they were, they were she was going to be admitted to a mental institution.
00:16:32.580 --> 00:16:33.739
I mean, this is a true story.
00:16:33.739 --> 00:16:38.918
Oh, Did I, did I tell you about the son who had the infection in his toe?
00:16:38.938 --> 00:16:55.298
Okay, which which story would take, maybe but uh, let's talk about the true story of the woman who was going to go mental because she didn't have enough calcium and she was irritable all the time and why does that interest you so much?
00:16:55.318 --> 00:16:55.580
I don't know.
00:16:55.580 --> 00:16:59.302
So they brought her to me and I sat with her for quite a while and I said you know what?
00:16:59.302 --> 00:17:00.068
Have you had surgery?
00:17:00.068 --> 00:17:00.533
And then it is.
00:17:00.533 --> 00:17:05.019
And the other thing she said oh, you had my gallbladder removed, you know, 10 years ago.
00:17:08.872 --> 00:17:10.858
Well, the function of the gallbladder is to put a, is to store bile.
00:17:10.858 --> 00:17:14.660
After red blood cells are broken down in the spleen and the stores bile.
00:17:14.660 --> 00:17:21.512
And when fat goes past the, the, the gallbladder, it squirts a little bile onto the fat, emulsifies it.
00:17:21.512 --> 00:17:31.329
The purpose of bile in the system is emulsified fat and fat soluble vitamins, vitamin A, d and E are you know they're?
00:17:31.329 --> 00:17:31.932
They're critical.
00:17:31.932 --> 00:17:35.928
So I looked down there and I said okay, let's try this.
00:17:35.928 --> 00:17:38.259
I gave her some calcium.
00:17:38.259 --> 00:17:45.196
I gave her some uh cod liver oil and I gave her ox bile of an ox, ox bile tablets.
00:17:45.196 --> 00:17:48.714
Right the next day she was dramatically improved.
00:17:48.714 --> 00:17:51.940
They did not have to put her away.
00:17:51.940 --> 00:17:53.116
So I gave her some calcium.
00:17:53.116 --> 00:17:56.064
I gave her some calcium, she was dramatically improved.
00:17:56.064 --> 00:17:59.857
They did not have to put her away, isn't that, isn't it?
00:18:00.039 --> 00:18:02.346
Oh, hold on, hold on Time out.
00:18:02.346 --> 00:18:05.132
She's on her way.
00:18:05.132 --> 00:18:09.951
She's in a straight jacket, on her way to the insane asylum.
00:18:09.951 --> 00:18:17.032
They they pull over to grab a Coke and happens to be near your office.
00:18:17.032 --> 00:18:18.506
They say, oh, let's go see this guy.
00:18:19.621 --> 00:18:20.325
She walks in.
00:18:20.686 --> 00:18:21.229
She walks in.
00:18:21.229 --> 00:18:24.830
And suddenly oh wait a minute, here's your Coke.
00:18:24.830 --> 00:18:26.826
You want some bag of chips with that?
00:18:26.826 --> 00:18:31.551
Oh, by the way, let me give you some calcium lactate and and uh, and cure you instantly.
00:18:33.320 --> 00:18:33.421
I.
00:18:33.421 --> 00:18:35.747
It is when you work with nutrition.
00:18:35.747 --> 00:18:38.073
You will be shocked at how fast people come along.
00:18:38.073 --> 00:18:40.084
I mean, it's just astonishing.
00:18:40.084 --> 00:18:42.570
It really is Okay, all right.
00:18:42.570 --> 00:18:45.288
I mean I had battalions of little kids who were sick.
00:18:45.288 --> 00:18:50.030
40% of my practice at one time was pediatrics and I used to do.
00:18:50.131 --> 00:18:51.299
I used to do all kinds of stuff.
00:18:51.299 --> 00:18:55.419
They would have tonsillitis and they'd be scheduled for a tonsillectomy.
00:18:55.419 --> 00:18:58.167
Right, and you can.
00:18:58.167 --> 00:19:11.251
You can put on a glove, put on some eucalyptus oil and have the child open their mouth, lay him on their back and put your, put your finger like this so that they can't bite you, and like this first.
00:19:11.251 --> 00:19:11.796
This is audio.
00:19:13.547 --> 00:19:15.539
Like, yeah, it's being like, put your finger had the cheat.
00:19:17.284 --> 00:19:21.532
Well, you put it in, you push the cheek in such a way that if they bite, they'll bite their cheek.
00:19:21.532 --> 00:19:29.119
Then you take the finger of the oh and you strip the just quickly.
00:19:29.119 --> 00:19:37.611
You strip the tonsils both sides, rip, rip, with that glove hand with the eucalyptus oil on it, while you're holding their cheek in such a way that they can't bite you.
00:19:37.611 --> 00:19:40.144
The kid will look at you with.
00:19:40.144 --> 00:19:44.304
They'll give you that dirty look and begin to kill you at that point and spitting.
00:19:44.304 --> 00:19:49.105
They'll spit up pus and all kinds of junk that came out of the tonsils.
00:19:49.105 --> 00:19:51.867
Guess what happens the next day?
00:19:53.160 --> 00:19:56.289
Either they do come and kill you or they feel better.
00:19:57.140 --> 00:20:00.786
The kids, you know, their temperatures come down, they're they're dramatically better.
00:20:00.786 --> 00:20:03.106
There is a plethora.
00:20:03.106 --> 00:20:04.523
That means a lot of.
00:20:04.523 --> 00:20:26.665
There are many, many, many tools inside of physiologic health care and whether you're using Chinese medicine as a diagnostic tool or as a treatment, or in in in uh, in Oriental diagnosis, you can look at all the points of the body, right, you've got all these lines that they call the meridians and they're a therapeutic, but they're also diagnostic.
00:20:26.665 --> 00:20:37.873
So I had a man come in one day and he had this huge blemish on his, on his face, right here, and it was like it was, you know, caked over and awful.
00:20:37.873 --> 00:20:40.362
I said to him have you been constipated?
00:20:40.362 --> 00:20:43.962
And that's the last point on the large intestine meridian he said yeah, how on?
00:20:44.003 --> 00:20:44.646
earth, did you know?
00:20:44.646 --> 00:20:49.577
So the blemish was next to his nose, right here on his face right next to the.
00:20:49.597 --> 00:20:55.576
You know what an inch above the corner of his mouth, right next to the, is the wing of his nose.
00:20:55.576 --> 00:20:58.945
Okay, got it Large into last point on large intestine meridian.
00:20:58.945 --> 00:21:02.837
So I gave him something to improve his colon.
00:21:02.837 --> 00:21:09.423
I told him go home and take a hot washcloth and just soak this area and improve the circulation.
00:21:09.423 --> 00:21:13.617
Well, we came back three days later and he was dramatically better.
00:21:15.182 --> 00:21:18.420
Okay, now we were talking about relationships.
00:21:21.617 --> 00:21:22.941
You talked about the crazy woman.
00:21:22.941 --> 00:21:24.955
Everything you do together.
00:21:25.176 --> 00:21:28.537
Yeah, we were talking about everything and you mentioned the guy with the toe.
00:21:28.537 --> 00:21:30.336
Did I tell you about the guy with the toe?
00:21:30.336 --> 00:21:31.515
You're not getting away with that.
00:21:31.515 --> 00:21:32.954
What about the guy with the toe?
00:21:32.954 --> 00:21:34.398
What toe, what guy?
00:21:34.871 --> 00:21:35.755
There was a young man.
00:21:35.755 --> 00:21:39.480
He got an appointment to Annapolis.
00:21:39.480 --> 00:21:46.063
He was getting out of high school and he had letters and he was an athlete and he got an infection in his big toe.
00:21:47.169 --> 00:21:47.369
Okay.
00:21:47.509 --> 00:21:52.057
So they took him to every doctor and they couldn't for some reason they couldn't knock the infection out.
00:21:52.057 --> 00:22:00.930
They brought him to me and I just happened to have an office across the street from the general electric plant and that's where these people worked in.
00:22:00.930 --> 00:22:04.906
So they brought him to me and they said he has a toe problem, he can't go to Annapolis.
00:22:04.906 --> 00:22:06.127
Did you call a tow truck?
00:22:06.127 --> 00:22:08.699
We're terrified, sorry.
00:22:08.699 --> 00:22:09.561
Sorry, go ahead.
00:22:12.351 --> 00:22:14.405
So I looked at the acupuncture point.
00:22:14.405 --> 00:22:14.868
And what was it?
00:22:14.868 --> 00:22:16.048
Liver point number one.
00:22:16.048 --> 00:22:20.029
I gave him a bottle of desiccated calves liver.
00:22:20.029 --> 00:22:22.690
I said take this home and take plenty of it.
00:22:22.690 --> 00:22:32.789
And his father called me the next day and he said I don't know what you did, but it's dramatically improved and we no longer live in fear that he can't go to Annapolis.
00:22:32.789 --> 00:22:35.970
So that I got a lot of points for that.
00:22:35.970 --> 00:22:42.563
And that's what had them bring me their wife, the one who was, you know, really, really upset.
00:22:42.563 --> 00:22:45.449
People, wait a minute, wait a minute.
00:22:46.803 --> 00:22:47.430
The kid with the toe yeah.
00:22:49.017 --> 00:22:51.229
That was just the woman in the straight jacket was his mother.
00:22:51.249 --> 00:22:52.647
Yeah, okay, small one.
00:22:53.815 --> 00:23:01.115
But you know, people, I would fix a tonsillitis and somebody bring me somebody with hemorrhoids or the I'd fix it, you know.
00:23:01.876 --> 00:23:05.450
I see the brain, ankle and they'd say, well, how are you with your aches?
00:23:05.450 --> 00:23:11.406
So there's no rhyme or reason of people like you and you stay in rapport, they will bring you.
00:23:11.406 --> 00:23:15.150
I used to build a practice in 90 days.
00:23:15.150 --> 00:23:21.470
I'd have a practice in 90 days that other doctors would, who'd been in practice for 10 years, would envy.
00:23:21.470 --> 00:23:24.325
They were green with envy.
00:23:24.325 --> 00:23:29.442
It's easy, you know, and you have the force and power and authority of mother nature.
00:23:29.442 --> 00:23:39.069
Who can stand in your way, whether it's an infection in the, in the tonsils, or a toe that's problematic or somebody who needs to be put in a nut house.
00:23:39.069 --> 00:23:46.403
I mean, you know, if you work with nature and if you understand all of this stuff and it all fits together.
00:23:46.403 --> 00:23:59.976
That's why we call it the Optimal human experience, where you have rapport and healthcare and communication and identification of your own personal criteria and it just.
00:23:59.976 --> 00:24:03.670
It just makes life worth living and without it life can really be unpleasant.
00:24:05.594 --> 00:24:10.750
It does sound better than the say, for example, the the mediocre human experience.
00:24:12.615 --> 00:24:22.569
And yeah, really, if for a lot of people you know they need to step up and we're here to provide it, yeah, For some people, some people mediocre, would be a step up.
00:24:22.569 --> 00:24:24.656
It would.
00:24:24.656 --> 00:24:28.469
For many people, mediocrity is an elevated state to which they can only aspire.
00:24:28.469 --> 00:24:39.148
But setting that aside, let's have fun with it and and be effective and do good and help people.
00:24:39.148 --> 00:24:39.368
Okay.
00:24:40.535 --> 00:24:44.326
So we've got about a few minutes left, four or five minutes Do you have?
00:24:44.326 --> 00:24:49.693
What else can you say about managing relationships?
00:24:49.693 --> 00:24:56.410
Because there's, we have all these different relationships in all different areas of our lives.
00:24:56.410 --> 00:25:04.602
We have work relationships, we have family relationships, we have friend relationships, we have more family relationships.
00:25:04.602 --> 00:25:20.935
What are some other things that people can do to help people that people can look to or at least consider to have in place, managing all these different relationships.
00:25:22.401 --> 00:25:34.909
One tool that I will use characteristically is when people come together to talk, each person will have an ideal distance from the other person.
00:25:34.909 --> 00:25:42.768
So they'll shake hands and they'll get, say, four feet apart, right, all right, I'll back up six inches.
00:25:42.768 --> 00:25:50.744
I'll let them establish the distance they're comfortable with in regards to me, and then I'll back up six inches.
00:25:50.744 --> 00:25:52.306
And what do they do?
00:25:53.740 --> 00:25:59.869
They kind of shuffle forward about six inches, oh, to get back to their distance that they're comfortable with.
00:26:00.320 --> 00:26:05.404
Get back to their distance that they're comfortable with, and so then I will kind of shuffle back.
00:26:05.404 --> 00:26:12.823
You know unobtrusively about six inches, six inches, six to eight inches, and so what do they do?
00:26:14.619 --> 00:26:14.861
They.
00:26:14.861 --> 00:26:15.923
Well they're now.
00:26:15.923 --> 00:26:18.810
They're no longer comfortable because you've changed.
00:26:18.810 --> 00:26:23.969
You've changed the distance, so they close the gap to get their comfortable distance back.
00:26:24.700 --> 00:26:30.451
And then, once they're comfortable again, I will shift back another six inches.
00:26:30.451 --> 00:26:32.304
And what are they going to do?
00:26:32.759 --> 00:26:38.069
They move forward again and they're thinking by this time no, they're not thinking this, but they're going.
00:26:38.069 --> 00:26:38.942
Oh, why does this guy?
00:26:38.962 --> 00:26:39.464
keep moving.
00:26:39.464 --> 00:26:40.983
They don't think that at all.
00:26:40.983 --> 00:26:45.088
What is usually the convinced number for most people?
00:26:46.220 --> 00:26:50.691
Most people need to hear or experience something three times.
00:26:50.691 --> 00:26:53.006
Some people have four, most people three.
00:26:53.247 --> 00:26:53.448
Yeah.
00:26:53.448 --> 00:26:55.786
How many, how many strikes until you're out?
00:26:55.786 --> 00:27:01.390
Three strikes and how many outs until you change the inning Three outs, okay.
00:27:01.390 --> 00:27:04.669
So for most people it's a three time convinced or mechanism.
00:27:04.669 --> 00:27:09.731
So I'll let them get their comfortable distance and I'll back up.
00:27:09.731 --> 00:27:21.261
They'll kind of move toward me, I'll back up, they'll move toward me, I'll back up, they'll move toward me and bam, what complex generalization sets inside of their entire nervous system.
00:27:21.261 --> 00:27:25.289
Generalize they to move toward me.
00:27:25.611 --> 00:27:25.852
Yeah.
00:27:26.740 --> 00:27:28.906
And from that point forward, I'll walk in the room.
00:27:28.926 --> 00:27:29.548
And what do they do?
00:27:29.548 --> 00:27:42.646
They're going to get a move toward you, they'll move toward me, and it just helps make everything smooth, it just helps develop rapport, isn't that kind of slick?
00:27:43.209 --> 00:27:51.845
Right, it's kind of slick and it kind of I get this image of you ever been to one of those Marionette shows.
00:27:51.845 --> 00:27:57.747
You know where they you know the puppet masters that you can't see him and there's just strings coming down on the stage.
00:27:57.747 --> 00:28:00.806
You know, with these puppets, hi, how are you?
00:28:01.420 --> 00:28:02.564
Well walk over here.
00:28:02.605 --> 00:28:03.307
Walk over here.
00:28:03.881 --> 00:28:05.527
There's two ways to take all of this stuff.
00:28:05.527 --> 00:28:11.626
You can say Dr Joe's going way out of his way to make people comfortable with him and to develop rapport so that things work.
00:28:11.626 --> 00:28:14.989
Or you can go uh-oh, there's manipulation here.
00:28:15.259 --> 00:28:20.770
Well, it's not like I don't have rapport everywhere I go and I'm not cynical at all.
00:28:20.951 --> 00:28:28.509
No, you know, the only people that get upset when you bank away from them are people who are irritable because they don't have enough vitamin A in their system.
00:28:29.323 --> 00:28:30.448
And it happens every time.
00:28:30.448 --> 00:28:30.851
It's overrated.
00:28:30.851 --> 00:28:32.057
It's overrated.
00:28:32.779 --> 00:28:52.314
Vitamin A really lubricates the in the kidney membrane so people would have so much of our health related problems is related to the fact that we need to have real strong, good, healthy, robust nutrition a lot of it.
00:28:53.981 --> 00:29:07.385
Yeah, I did hear this nutritionist speak one time and he said that they had done tests on back in the fifties of different fruits and vegetables and that sort of thing and measured the vitamin content.
00:29:07.385 --> 00:29:18.505
And the one that stuck out in my mind was I believe it was an apricot currently raised organic apricots.
00:29:18.505 --> 00:29:43.365
The apricots in 1950s, when things didn't have to be organic because there weren't all as many near as many pesticides and poison sprayed on the crops, those apricots from the fifties had 58 more, 58 times more vitamin A than the finest organically grown apricot that you can buy today.
00:29:43.365 --> 00:29:45.305
And this was 10 years ago.
00:29:45.640 --> 00:29:46.663
So, I'm not telling what it is now.
00:29:48.339 --> 00:30:05.182
So yeah, and that's I mean, and it's horrifying, Almost everybody is walking around with some degree of nutritional deficiency and it's surprising that we don't have more problems, but sooner or later everybody ends up in the hospital, pretty much yeah yeah, no wonder.
00:30:05.500 --> 00:30:07.443
Well, on that note, that's a.
00:30:07.443 --> 00:30:13.037
That's about our time here for episode 7 of the optimal human experience.
00:30:13.464 --> 00:30:14.328
I'm gonna back up.
00:30:16.268 --> 00:30:17.511
Glad you could listen.
00:30:17.511 --> 00:30:25.171
The optimal human experience, the optimal human experience, the optimal human experience.
00:30:25.171 --> 00:30:26.548
That's right.
00:30:26.548 --> 00:30:30.353
Yeah, so we will see you next time.
00:30:30.353 --> 00:30:34.529
Poco, apoco, poco, apoco.
00:30:34.529 --> 00:30:42.755
Manager relationships, which means get a stick Poco, apoco, little by little.
00:30:42.755 --> 00:31:01.976
That's like one time I was listening to this musician play and I brought my Mexican friend with me and my Mexican friend said Olay at the end of the song and my musician friend says what does that mean, olay?
00:31:01.976 --> 00:31:08.673
And my friend said with milk, olay.
00:31:09.964 --> 00:31:12.309
I don't think so Are you really Mexican?
00:31:12.369 --> 00:31:13.511
I'm not sure that you are.
00:31:13.511 --> 00:31:14.574
I'm not sure.
00:31:17.805 --> 00:31:18.567

00:00:25.463 --> 00:00:34.295
Welcome to Episode 7 of the Optimal Human Experience Podcast with Dr Joseph DiRuzzo.
00:00:34.295 --> 00:00:43.368
I'm Paul Andrew, I'm the Ringmaster of sorts, but the main attraction in the center ring.
00:00:43.368 --> 00:00:47.905
Ladies and gentlemen, dr Joseph DiRuzzo, what do you want to talk about?
00:00:48.883 --> 00:00:50.046
Let's talk about everything.
00:00:50.046 --> 00:00:52.240
Hey might as well.
00:00:53.472 --> 00:00:55.552
We've got 30 minutes We'll talk about everything.
00:00:56.963 --> 00:00:57.363
You go first.
00:00:58.240 --> 00:00:59.063
How it all fits together.
00:00:59.063 --> 00:01:10.090
I delight in pulling things together from obtuse sources and this will make perfect sense to you after you hear it.
00:01:10.090 --> 00:01:29.150
I was practicing privately in private practice in way up near the Canadian border, where it is cloudy most of the time and it is so dark that if you're thirsty you can take a cup, go outside and reach up and scoop a cup of fresh water out of the clouds.
00:01:29.150 --> 00:01:36.168
I used to wash things, wash clothes and put them outside to dry, and three days later they'd still be wet.
00:01:36.168 --> 00:01:47.433
So it was dark and in the absence of sunlight, to generate irradiated ergotarol in your skin or vitamin D.
00:01:47.433 --> 00:01:56.233
There is a relationship between the absorption of calcium and vitamin D and hydrochloric acid.
00:01:56.944 --> 00:01:59.239
So these moms would bring in these little kids and they'd be sick.
00:01:59.239 --> 00:02:13.127
They'd be blowing green stuff out of their nose, they would have tubes in their ears, they would be oh and so they'd say, and the mothers would be like psychotic with frustration and I'd say, well, what's wrong?
00:02:13.127 --> 00:02:21.667
And they'd say he's sick and I've taken him to every doctor and he's on penicillin and moxacillin and erythromycin and he's not getting better.
00:02:21.667 --> 00:02:26.405
And if you're a parent, if you're a parent, you have.
00:02:26.405 --> 00:02:31.514
I mean, there's no desperation, like when your child is sick or whatever.
00:02:32.419 --> 00:02:43.710
So I would give them calcium lactate, a very easily digested calcium, and I would give them a cod liver oil tablet.
00:02:43.710 --> 00:02:59.240
Sometimes I'd give them a teaspoon of cod liver oil and characteristically, the kids would just simply fall asleep in their mother's arms shortly after they got the calcium, and they were always running a low grade temperature.
00:02:59.240 --> 00:03:01.561
Why Well?
00:03:01.561 --> 00:03:11.302
The body was trying to dissolve some calcium out of the bones and put it in the circulating superficial circulation right Universally.
00:03:11.302 --> 00:03:19.794
Almost every time, within a couple of minutes, the kid would quiet right down and the moms would look at me with eyes of silent adoration.
00:03:21.282 --> 00:03:23.449
I mean boy, did I get him to sleep?
00:03:23.449 --> 00:03:27.228
He's not screaming with pain and in horror.
00:03:28.661 --> 00:03:36.323
Yeah, and the green stuff you know coming out of their nose and various orifices In the industrial age.
00:03:36.323 --> 00:03:52.219
All of a sudden we had food, we had lots of it and much of it was refined and they took the goodness out of the food and fed it to the pigs and then you paid extra to five pig meat and almost everybody is sick.
00:03:52.219 --> 00:04:00.514
And along with this sickness comes an accentuation of the problems that come inside of interpersonal relationships.
00:04:00.514 --> 00:04:02.502
You know, I know this guy who's?
00:04:02.502 --> 00:04:08.324
He's a good guy but he's a little short of patience and he's irritable and uh, oh, please.
00:04:08.324 --> 00:04:12.170
There are times when I'll say something to him and he'll.
00:04:12.170 --> 00:04:16.064
You know he'll, he's right on, he needs is right on the edge.
00:04:16.125 --> 00:04:16.906
Is that what you're saying?
00:04:19.440 --> 00:04:23.362
Every relationship has to be managed, there's no question about it.
00:04:23.362 --> 00:04:26.651
Your primary relationship, the relationship with your kids.
00:04:26.651 --> 00:04:32.220
I suggested something for you to do with your children about a week ago and you did it.
00:04:32.220 --> 00:04:33.925
What's what?
00:04:33.966 --> 00:04:34.487
do you notice?
00:04:34.487 --> 00:04:41.240
Well, we got what's called a knock hockey game.
00:04:41.240 --> 00:04:52.199
It's like a big board and it's a hockey with little hockey sticks and a wooden puck, and and you, you slap the thing off the board and try to get it through the through the goal.
00:04:52.199 --> 00:04:55.807
And what I noticed is, first of all, it's fun.
00:04:55.807 --> 00:05:05.160
Second of all, I beat them mercilessly to know not really they actually, you know pretty dang you, they're pretty good at it.
00:05:06.584 --> 00:05:07.569
Let them win once in a while.
00:05:07.569 --> 00:05:08.331
But what do you notice?
00:05:08.351 --> 00:05:10.240
Let them win they win, they went on their own.
00:05:10.240 --> 00:05:11.783
What the heck are you talking about?
00:05:11.783 --> 00:05:12.386
Let them win.
00:05:12.386 --> 00:05:15.108
Yeah, they kick my butt, all right.
00:05:15.108 --> 00:05:16.240
So what do you notice?
00:05:16.240 --> 00:05:43.240
Well, I tell you this there's a lot more human interaction than there is when we play, for example, a video game together, or we sit down in front of the, the pixels of the of the television, and watch some seemingly child show that invariably has some other hidden message right underneath the surface.
00:05:43.540 --> 00:05:56.036
That's probably inappropriate for children, but so intergalactic entertainment really doesn't compare to like face to face doing something with your hands, kinesthetic yelling, having fun smiles.
00:05:56.036 --> 00:06:03.973
How hard would, how hard would it be for your child to turn you to you and say I hate you, you never did anything for me.
00:06:03.973 --> 00:06:05.805
I mean, it's not going to happen.
00:06:06.406 --> 00:06:07.028
Yeah, yeah.
00:06:07.028 --> 00:06:16.790
They can say mostly what I hear is dad, Because I made some bad joke but it's as bad as it gets.
00:06:17.399 --> 00:06:28.894
We have report deprivation sickness between the generations and on top of it, the younger generations has a severe disorientation from not having enough practical life experience.
00:06:28.894 --> 00:06:44.228
You know, and I was watching on on YouTube, there was there's a guy and he has those show and he has a half a dozen women and they all talk about how horrible things are and how men are inadequate and women are worse.
00:06:44.228 --> 00:06:52.406
And there was a gal sitting second row behind and the camera was focused on her and she had a.
00:06:52.406 --> 00:06:56.052
She had a hat that was reminiscent of Kaiser Wilhelm.
00:06:56.052 --> 00:06:57.351
Ever see that one?
00:06:58.939 --> 00:07:00.363
And she had long beautiful hair.
00:07:00.363 --> 00:07:01.841
Kind of weird reference.
00:07:01.920 --> 00:07:19.947
Okay, oh, she did this and anyways, she was not on the camera To the bus, best of her knowledge, she was sitting back and I got the opportunity to watch her face in and Unguarded moment.
00:07:19.947 --> 00:07:25.548
She had this sad little face.
00:07:25.548 --> 00:07:32.728
Where did she have that sad little face for the very first time?
00:07:35.223 --> 00:07:39.259
Okay, the very first time Dab in the dark.
00:07:39.259 --> 00:07:44.245
I'm going to say she probably was making that face before.
00:07:44.324 --> 00:07:47.540
she was even born and it was so obvious.
00:07:47.540 --> 00:07:52.665
That was her natural face, that was the face that she, that was her default position.
00:07:52.665 --> 00:08:01.963
You can almost hear her father in the background going Doris, I thought I told you to make sure that you got your birth control pill prescription filled up.
00:08:01.963 --> 00:08:03.346
You didn't forget it, did you?
00:08:03.346 --> 00:08:09.637
We can't have a baby now, poor girl I mean.
00:08:09.637 --> 00:08:10.581
So here she is.
00:08:10.581 --> 00:08:16.997
She's getting report deprivation sickness installed almost on a professional basis, and you can see.
00:08:16.997 --> 00:08:18.041
You can see it.
00:08:18.041 --> 00:08:22.365
You can see it in the, in their faces, just sitting there, the sad little face.
00:08:22.365 --> 00:08:26.581
She's 22 years old, nobody loves me, and she was beautiful.
00:08:26.581 --> 00:08:30.185
All relationships have to be managed.
00:08:30.185 --> 00:08:32.583
All relationships have to be managed.
00:08:32.583 --> 00:08:37.686
All relationships have to be managed and it can be fun and easy.
00:08:38.894 --> 00:08:54.720
Dave Dobson, when he met a new client everybody has a characteristic pace and walk and waddle, you know, and he would like he would, from across the parking lot, walk up to them in the same walk that they were walking up to him with.
00:08:54.720 --> 00:08:58.202
It's a mirroring and pacing kind of thing.
00:08:58.202 --> 00:09:04.307
He would get reported them right down to their toenails and then he would ask them their name.
00:09:04.307 --> 00:09:07.542
He'd repeat their name back to them in the same tonality, cadence pace.
00:09:07.542 --> 00:09:18.799
And the guy had fabulous report and he used to say, and it's true, you just don't know it, a stranger is just a friend that you haven't met yet, a stranger.
00:09:18.799 --> 00:09:19.743
And he meant it.
00:09:19.743 --> 00:09:21.057
And boy he could.
00:09:21.057 --> 00:09:21.277
He.
00:09:21.277 --> 00:09:34.134
He said the world, if you understand it, the world is just full of really neat people who have got all kinds of information and other resources for you and they can be your friends Absolutely Well.
00:09:34.756 --> 00:09:37.263
So all relationships have to be managed.
00:09:37.263 --> 00:09:48.121
Report is based on matching matching external behavior, internal states, tone of voice, object, you know, content, whatever.
00:09:48.121 --> 00:09:55.899
And Dave used to say just go back every once in a while and model back to them some of their external behavior.
00:09:55.899 --> 00:10:01.523
It doesn't have to be long, it doesn't have to be long, but you have to like touch base from time to time.
00:10:01.523 --> 00:10:07.326
Right, and if you want to have a relationship, you're going to have to manage it.
00:10:07.326 --> 00:10:18.524
Fortunately, we have our NLP tools, we have prenatal re-imprinting, we have all the other technologies, dave Dobson's, other than conscious communication, and it's fun and it's easy and it's extremely productive.
00:10:19.238 --> 00:10:22.802
I mean, it's a matter of and it makes I'm going to interrupt you right there, just like I did.
00:10:22.802 --> 00:10:23.918
It makes sense.
00:10:23.918 --> 00:10:26.520
I'm sitting here thinking as a layman.
00:10:26.520 --> 00:10:36.028
It makes sense because people gravitate toward a particular type of other people.
00:10:36.028 --> 00:10:37.860
They feel comfortable in this group.
00:10:37.860 --> 00:10:40.481
They don't feel so comfortable in that group.
00:10:40.481 --> 00:10:44.264
And what is it about that group?
00:10:44.264 --> 00:10:47.443
Well, that group probably is kind of like them.
00:10:47.443 --> 00:10:51.748
I remember my one of my older daughters went through this phase of.
00:10:51.748 --> 00:10:59.899
I don't know if it was goth or emo or both, oh God that's wonderful, but it was basically.
00:10:59.918 --> 00:11:01.423
You know she wore black all the time.
00:11:01.423 --> 00:11:07.207
She had black, you know eye shadow and you know this drippy stuff on her.
00:11:07.207 --> 00:11:12.461
I mean, it's a little horrible, right, because she was such a pretty girl, but who am I to judge?
00:11:12.461 --> 00:11:22.663
And then I noticed she was hanging around with guess what Other people that looked like her and I said well, you know, why is it that?
00:11:22.663 --> 00:11:30.799
Why is it that you wear black all the time and you put this weird makeup on and you do all these things and you walk around with a big sour look on your face?
00:11:30.799 --> 00:11:32.940
Well, just trying to be different.
00:11:35.495 --> 00:11:37.783
I look at her and everybody else.
00:11:37.955 --> 00:11:40.860
I'm trying to be different by being exactly like my friends.
00:11:40.860 --> 00:11:44.187
Ok, ok, you know what.
00:11:44.187 --> 00:11:50.626
They were managing their relationships because they they felt comfortable hanging out with each other.
00:11:50.626 --> 00:11:53.140
Now, happily, she's through that phase.
00:11:54.615 --> 00:12:10.302
No disc, no disrespect to all you goths or emos or whatever it really is you know I would have paid you to take a black marker of some sort you know cosmetic and make three little tears under your eyes when you went and talked to her.
00:12:10.302 --> 00:12:14.759
I would, I would, I would Anything, you would get rapport with her.
00:12:15.721 --> 00:12:23.688
More than likely More than most people like, try to get rapport through screaming and by and large, it really doesn't work.
00:12:23.688 --> 00:12:31.432
It just doesn't work all that well and and it's rapport over time when I come from, there's this fellow named Simeon.
00:12:31.432 --> 00:12:45.553
He has a restaurant and he has, you know, like Syrian food and they have shish, kebabs and hummus and all this stuff and he will remember somebody's name if he hasn't seen him for five or 10 years.
00:12:45.553 --> 00:12:54.453
Oh wow, I mean, and he does the rapport thing to an extraordinary degree in a town that was population collapsing.
00:12:54.453 --> 00:12:57.504
Guess what there is a cost to he never had a problem.
00:12:57.841 --> 00:12:59.748
Yeah, probably made a big difference.
00:13:00.061 --> 00:13:01.706
People never knew about where to go.
00:13:01.706 --> 00:13:02.328
Where do you want to go?
00:13:02.328 --> 00:13:05.129
Let's go over there to that monkey guy.
00:13:05.129 --> 00:13:07.581
Oh, not, simeon Like.
00:13:07.702 --> 00:13:11.164
Simeon, simeon, ok, usually it's Syrian or what.
00:13:11.164 --> 00:13:12.903
Anyway, ok, yeah, it's.
00:13:12.903 --> 00:13:15.811
It's so much of it is, you know, based on rapport.
00:13:15.811 --> 00:13:17.765
So much of it's based on rapport.
00:13:17.765 --> 00:13:24.508
So, if you're, if you want a relationship and you have to do what is known as a second position, shift right.
00:13:24.508 --> 00:13:30.855
You have to look at a person and say, well, what are they experiencing when they're in my presence?
00:13:30.855 --> 00:13:43.779
Hmm, ok, and you have to be mindful of not only here's what I'm getting out of the deal and here's what I want to get out of the deal, but you also have to be mindful for the other person if you want a relationship that lasts over time.
00:13:43.779 --> 00:13:47.720
Short term rapport you just mirror back to them their external behavior.
00:13:47.720 --> 00:13:55.019
But long term rapport, you're going to need to model their external behavior, values, et cetera, and stay in rapport over time.
00:13:55.340 --> 00:13:58.169
How many you were in financial services?
00:13:58.169 --> 00:14:02.860
How many people send a Christmas card to their clients in the holidays?
00:14:02.860 --> 00:14:06.196
Well, most, if not all, most if not all.
00:14:06.196 --> 00:14:07.019
Guess what?
00:14:07.019 --> 00:14:08.940
It doesn't say anything yet.
00:14:08.940 --> 00:14:11.534
So, as I'm, I we're still in touch.
00:14:11.534 --> 00:14:12.500
I think of you from time to time.
00:14:12.500 --> 00:14:16.958
I still value as a client most if not all.
00:14:16.958 --> 00:14:17.259
And guess what?
00:14:17.259 --> 00:14:20.365
It's always Christmas time, always Christmas time.
00:14:20.365 --> 00:14:23.547
It's always Christmas time.
00:14:23.928 --> 00:14:28.731
Right, I got to buy more cards staying in rapport Absolutely critical.
00:14:28.731 --> 00:14:39.647
So you have the keys to the kingdom in the sense that you will play knock hockey with your kids and that will lead you to do other things where mind and body are involved.
00:14:39.647 --> 00:14:55.846
Your rapport will go be an ongoing thing long term and you will be spared A lot of the grief that comes from you know what goes on these days where the kids die their hair purple and decide and decide they're a cat, get a gay cat at that.
00:14:57.461 --> 00:14:59.008
Well, nothing with a happy cat.
00:14:59.441 --> 00:15:02.860
That's about that's a let's take a short break here.
00:15:02.860 --> 00:15:04.888
It's about halfway through our time.
00:15:04.888 --> 00:15:26.859
Just a reminder if you're enjoying what we're talking about, or you want to learn more about what we're talking about, or you want to see what kind of programs and courses Dr Joe has come up with over the years, we are in the process of making those available in an online format for the first time in decades and decades.
00:15:26.859 --> 00:15:36.340
The website is you guessed it Optimalhumanexperiencecom Optimalhumanexperiencecom.
00:15:36.340 --> 00:15:38.649
You can go there and find out more.
00:15:38.649 --> 00:15:40.178
Get on our mailing list.
00:15:40.178 --> 00:15:50.359
There's a, an email, kind of a short course email program that'll walk you through some of the basics of the optimal human experience.
00:15:50.359 --> 00:15:50.580
What is it?
00:15:50.580 --> 00:15:52.440
How do you, how do you get there?
00:15:52.440 --> 00:15:56.152
How do you have that experience for yourself?
00:15:56.152 --> 00:16:02.053
So, dr Joe, back to calcium lactate and you.
00:16:03.464 --> 00:16:04.749
Managing relationships.
00:16:04.749 --> 00:16:08.139
Calcium is such an important mineral in the body.
00:16:08.139 --> 00:16:14.908
It's a huge you know percentage and it's extremely important for the functioning of the nervous system.
00:16:14.908 --> 00:16:23.529
I had a fellow who was an engineer at General Electric and his wife was extraordinarily irritable.
00:16:24.849 --> 00:16:25.879
And I don't know why people like that.
00:16:25.879 --> 00:16:27.057
How can they act like that?
00:16:27.057 --> 00:16:28.339
That's just horrible.
00:16:29.504 --> 00:16:32.580
Well, they were, they were she was going to be admitted to a mental institution.
00:16:32.580 --> 00:16:33.739
I mean, this is a true story.
00:16:33.739 --> 00:16:38.918
Oh, Did I, did I tell you about the son who had the infection in his toe?
00:16:38.938 --> 00:16:55.298
Okay, which which story would take, maybe but uh, let's talk about the true story of the woman who was going to go mental because she didn't have enough calcium and she was irritable all the time and why does that interest you so much?
00:16:55.318 --> 00:16:55.580
I don't know.
00:16:55.580 --> 00:16:59.302
So they brought her to me and I sat with her for quite a while and I said you know what?
00:16:59.302 --> 00:17:00.068
Have you had surgery?
00:17:00.068 --> 00:17:00.533
And then it is.
00:17:00.533 --> 00:17:05.019
And the other thing she said oh, you had my gallbladder removed, you know, 10 years ago.
00:17:08.872 --> 00:17:10.858
Well, the function of the gallbladder is to put a, is to store bile.
00:17:10.858 --> 00:17:14.660
After red blood cells are broken down in the spleen and the stores bile.
00:17:14.660 --> 00:17:21.512
And when fat goes past the, the, the gallbladder, it squirts a little bile onto the fat, emulsifies it.
00:17:21.512 --> 00:17:31.329
The purpose of bile in the system is emulsified fat and fat soluble vitamins, vitamin A, d and E are you know they're?
00:17:31.329 --> 00:17:31.932
They're critical.
00:17:31.932 --> 00:17:35.928
So I looked down there and I said okay, let's try this.
00:17:35.928 --> 00:17:38.259
I gave her some calcium.
00:17:38.259 --> 00:17:45.196
I gave her some uh cod liver oil and I gave her ox bile of an ox, ox bile tablets.
00:17:45.196 --> 00:17:48.714
Right the next day she was dramatically improved.
00:17:48.714 --> 00:17:51.940
They did not have to put her away.
00:17:51.940 --> 00:17:53.116
So I gave her some calcium.
00:17:53.116 --> 00:17:56.064
I gave her some calcium, she was dramatically improved.
00:17:56.064 --> 00:17:59.857
They did not have to put her away, isn't that, isn't it?
00:18:00.039 --> 00:18:02.346
Oh, hold on, hold on Time out.
00:18:02.346 --> 00:18:05.132
She's on her way.
00:18:05.132 --> 00:18:09.951
She's in a straight jacket, on her way to the insane asylum.
00:18:09.951 --> 00:18:17.032
They they pull over to grab a Coke and happens to be near your office.
00:18:17.032 --> 00:18:18.506
They say, oh, let's go see this guy.
00:18:19.621 --> 00:18:20.325
She walks in.
00:18:20.686 --> 00:18:21.229
She walks in.
00:18:21.229 --> 00:18:24.830
And suddenly oh wait a minute, here's your Coke.
00:18:24.830 --> 00:18:26.826
You want some bag of chips with that?
00:18:26.826 --> 00:18:31.551
Oh, by the way, let me give you some calcium lactate and and uh, and cure you instantly.
00:18:33.320 --> 00:18:33.421
I.
00:18:33.421 --> 00:18:35.747
It is when you work with nutrition.
00:18:35.747 --> 00:18:38.073
You will be shocked at how fast people come along.
00:18:38.073 --> 00:18:40.084
I mean, it's just astonishing.
00:18:40.084 --> 00:18:42.570
It really is Okay, all right.
00:18:42.570 --> 00:18:45.288
I mean I had battalions of little kids who were sick.
00:18:45.288 --> 00:18:50.030
40% of my practice at one time was pediatrics and I used to do.
00:18:50.131 --> 00:18:51.299
I used to do all kinds of stuff.
00:18:51.299 --> 00:18:55.419
They would have tonsillitis and they'd be scheduled for a tonsillectomy.
00:18:55.419 --> 00:18:58.167
Right, and you can.
00:18:58.167 --> 00:19:11.251
You can put on a glove, put on some eucalyptus oil and have the child open their mouth, lay him on their back and put your, put your finger like this so that they can't bite you, and like this first.
00:19:11.251 --> 00:19:11.796
This is audio.
00:19:13.547 --> 00:19:15.539
Like, yeah, it's being like, put your finger had the cheat.
00:19:17.284 --> 00:19:21.532
Well, you put it in, you push the cheek in such a way that if they bite, they'll bite their cheek.
00:19:21.532 --> 00:19:29.119
Then you take the finger of the oh and you strip the just quickly.
00:19:29.119 --> 00:19:37.611
You strip the tonsils both sides, rip, rip, with that glove hand with the eucalyptus oil on it, while you're holding their cheek in such a way that they can't bite you.
00:19:37.611 --> 00:19:40.144
The kid will look at you with.
00:19:40.144 --> 00:19:44.304
They'll give you that dirty look and begin to kill you at that point and spitting.
00:19:44.304 --> 00:19:49.105
They'll spit up pus and all kinds of junk that came out of the tonsils.
00:19:49.105 --> 00:19:51.867
Guess what happens the next day?
00:19:53.160 --> 00:19:56.289
Either they do come and kill you or they feel better.
00:19:57.140 --> 00:20:00.786
The kids, you know, their temperatures come down, they're they're dramatically better.
00:20:00.786 --> 00:20:03.106
There is a plethora.
00:20:03.106 --> 00:20:04.523
That means a lot of.
00:20:04.523 --> 00:20:26.665
00:20:26.665 --> 00:20:37.873
So I had a man come in one day and he had this huge blemish on his, on his face, right here, and it was like it was, you know, caked over and awful.
00:20:37.873 --> 00:20:40.362
I said to him have you been constipated?
00:20:40.362 --> 00:20:43.962
And that's the last point on the large intestine meridian he said yeah, how on?
00:20:44.003 --> 00:20:44.646
earth, did you know?
00:20:44.646 --> 00:20:49.577
So the blemish was next to his nose, right here on his face right next to the.
00:20:49.597 --> 00:20:55.576
You know what an inch above the corner of his mouth, right next to the, is the wing of his nose.
00:20:55.576 --> 00:20:58.945
Okay, got it Large into last point on large intestine meridian.
00:20:58.945 --> 00:21:02.837
So I gave him something to improve his colon.
00:21:02.837 --> 00:21:09.423
I told him go home and take a hot washcloth and just soak this area and improve the circulation.
00:21:09.423 --> 00:21:13.617
Well, we came back three days later and he was dramatically better.
00:21:15.182 --> 00:21:18.420
Okay, now we were talking about relationships.
00:21:21.617 --> 00:21:22.941
You talked about the crazy woman.
00:21:22.941 --> 00:21:24.955
Everything you do together.
00:21:25.176 --> 00:21:28.537
Yeah, we were talking about everything and you mentioned the guy with the toe.
00:21:28.537 --> 00:21:30.336
Did I tell you about the guy with the toe?
00:21:30.336 --> 00:21:31.515
You're not getting away with that.
00:21:31.515 --> 00:21:32.954
What about the guy with the toe?
00:21:32.954 --> 00:21:34.398
What toe, what guy?
00:21:34.871 --> 00:21:35.755
There was a young man.
00:21:35.755 --> 00:21:39.480
He got an appointment to Annapolis.
00:21:39.480 --> 00:21:46.063
He was getting out of high school and he had letters and he was an athlete and he got an infection in his big toe.
00:21:47.169 --> 00:21:47.369
Okay.
00:21:47.509 --> 00:21:52.057
So they took him to every doctor and they couldn't for some reason they couldn't knock the infection out.
00:21:52.057 --> 00:22:00.930
They brought him to me and I just happened to have an office across the street from the general electric plant and that's where these people worked in.
00:22:00.930 --> 00:22:04.906
So they brought him to me and they said he has a toe problem, he can't go to Annapolis.
00:22:04.906 --> 00:22:06.127
Did you call a tow truck?
00:22:06.127 --> 00:22:08.699
We're terrified, sorry.
00:22:08.699 --> 00:22:09.561
Sorry, go ahead.
00:22:12.351 --> 00:22:14.405
So I looked at the acupuncture point.
00:22:14.405 --> 00:22:14.868
And what was it?
00:22:14.868 --> 00:22:16.048
Liver point number one.
00:22:16.048 --> 00:22:20.029
I gave him a bottle of desiccated calves liver.
00:22:20.029 --> 00:22:22.690
I said take this home and take plenty of it.
00:22:22.690 --> 00:22:32.789
And his father called me the next day and he said I don't know what you did, but it's dramatically improved and we no longer live in fear that he can't go to Annapolis.
00:22:32.789 --> 00:22:35.970
So that I got a lot of points for that.
00:22:35.970 --> 00:22:42.563
And that's what had them bring me their wife, the one who was, you know, really, really upset.
00:22:42.563 --> 00:22:45.449
People, wait a minute, wait a minute.
00:22:46.803 --> 00:22:47.430
The kid with the toe yeah.
00:22:49.017 --> 00:22:51.229
That was just the woman in the straight jacket was his mother.
00:22:51.249 --> 00:22:52.647
Yeah, okay, small one.
00:22:53.815 --> 00:23:01.115
But you know, people, I would fix a tonsillitis and somebody bring me somebody with hemorrhoids or the I'd fix it, you know.
00:23:01.876 --> 00:23:05.450
I see the brain, ankle and they'd say, well, how are you with your aches?
00:23:05.450 --> 00:23:11.406
So there's no rhyme or reason of people like you and you stay in rapport, they will bring you.
00:23:11.406 --> 00:23:15.150
I used to build a practice in 90 days.
00:23:15.150 --> 00:23:21.470
I'd have a practice in 90 days that other doctors would, who'd been in practice for 10 years, would envy.
00:23:21.470 --> 00:23:24.325
They were green with envy.
00:23:24.325 --> 00:23:29.442
It's easy, you know, and you have the force and power and authority of mother nature.
00:23:29.442 --> 00:23:39.069
Who can stand in your way, whether it's an infection in the, in the tonsils, or a toe that's problematic or somebody who needs to be put in a nut house.
00:23:39.069 --> 00:23:46.403
I mean, you know, if you work with nature and if you understand all of this stuff and it all fits together.
00:23:46.403 --> 00:23:59.976
That's why we call it the Optimal human experience, where you have rapport and healthcare and communication and identification of your own personal criteria and it just.
00:23:59.976 --> 00:24:03.670
It just makes life worth living and without it life can really be unpleasant.
00:24:05.594 --> 00:24:10.750
It does sound better than the say, for example, the the mediocre human experience.
00:24:12.615 --> 00:24:22.569
And yeah, really, if for a lot of people you know they need to step up and we're here to provide it, yeah, For some people, some people mediocre, would be a step up.
00:24:22.569 --> 00:24:24.656
It would.
00:24:24.656 --> 00:24:28.469
For many people, mediocrity is an elevated state to which they can only aspire.
00:24:28.469 --> 00:24:39.148
But setting that aside, let's have fun with it and and be effective and do good and help people.
00:24:39.148 --> 00:24:39.368
Okay.
00:24:40.535 --> 00:24:44.326
So we've got about a few minutes left, four or five minutes Do you have?
00:24:44.326 --> 00:24:49.693
What else can you say about managing relationships?
00:24:49.693 --> 00:24:56.410
Because there's, we have all these different relationships in all different areas of our lives.
00:24:56.410 --> 00:25:04.602
We have work relationships, we have family relationships, we have friend relationships, we have more family relationships.
00:25:04.602 --> 00:25:20.935
What are some other things that people can do to help people that people can look to or at least consider to have in place, managing all these different relationships.
00:25:22.401 --> 00:25:34.909
One tool that I will use characteristically is when people come together to talk, each person will have an ideal distance from the other person.
00:25:34.909 --> 00:25:42.768
So they'll shake hands and they'll get, say, four feet apart, right, all right, I'll back up six inches.
00:25:42.768 --> 00:25:50.744
I'll let them establish the distance they're comfortable with in regards to me, and then I'll back up six inches.
00:25:50.744 --> 00:25:52.306
And what do they do?
00:25:53.740 --> 00:25:59.869
They kind of shuffle forward about six inches, oh, to get back to their distance that they're comfortable with.
00:26:00.320 --> 00:26:05.404
Get back to their distance that they're comfortable with, and so then I will kind of shuffle back.
00:26:05.404 --> 00:26:12.823
You know unobtrusively about six inches, six inches, six to eight inches, and so what do they do?
00:26:14.619 --> 00:26:14.861
They.
00:26:14.861 --> 00:26:15.923
Well they're now.
00:26:15.923 --> 00:26:18.810
They're no longer comfortable because you've changed.
00:26:18.810 --> 00:26:23.969
You've changed the distance, so they close the gap to get their comfortable distance back.
00:26:24.700 --> 00:26:30.451
And then, once they're comfortable again, I will shift back another six inches.
00:26:30.451 --> 00:26:32.304
And what are they going to do?
00:26:32.759 --> 00:26:38.069
They move forward again and they're thinking by this time no, they're not thinking this, but they're going.
00:26:38.069 --> 00:26:38.942
Oh, why does this guy?
00:26:38.962 --> 00:26:39.464
keep moving.
00:26:39.464 --> 00:26:40.983
They don't think that at all.
00:26:40.983 --> 00:26:45.088
What is usually the convinced number for most people?
00:26:46.220 --> 00:26:50.691
Most people need to hear or experience something three times.
00:26:50.691 --> 00:26:53.006
Some people have four, most people three.
00:26:53.247 --> 00:26:53.448
Yeah.
00:26:53.448 --> 00:26:55.786
How many, how many strikes until you're out?
00:26:55.786 --> 00:27:01.390
Three strikes and how many outs until you change the inning Three outs, okay.
00:27:01.390 --> 00:27:04.669
So for most people it's a three time convinced or mechanism.
00:27:04.669 --> 00:27:09.731
So I'll let them get their comfortable distance and I'll back up.
00:27:09.731 --> 00:27:21.261
They'll kind of move toward me, I'll back up, they'll move toward me, I'll back up, they'll move toward me and bam, what complex generalization sets inside of their entire nervous system.
00:27:21.261 --> 00:27:25.289
Generalize they to move toward me.
00:27:25.611 --> 00:27:25.852
Yeah.
00:27:26.740 --> 00:27:28.906
And from that point forward, I'll walk in the room.
00:27:28.926 --> 00:27:29.548
And what do they do?
00:27:29.548 --> 00:27:42.646
They're going to get a move toward you, they'll move toward me, and it just helps make everything smooth, it just helps develop rapport, isn't that kind of slick?
00:27:43.209 --> 00:27:51.845
Right, it's kind of slick and it kind of I get this image of you ever been to one of those Marionette shows.
00:27:51.845 --> 00:27:57.747
You know where they you know the puppet masters that you can't see him and there's just strings coming down on the stage.
00:27:57.747 --> 00:28:00.806
You know, with these puppets, hi, how are you?
00:28:01.420 --> 00:28:02.564
Well walk over here.
00:28:02.605 --> 00:28:03.307
Walk over here.
00:28:03.881 --> 00:28:05.527
There's two ways to take all of this stuff.
00:28:05.527 --> 00:28:11.626
You can say Dr Joe's going way out of his way to make people comfortable with him and to develop rapport so that things work.
00:28:11.626 --> 00:28:14.989
Or you can go uh-oh, there's manipulation here.
00:28:15.259 --> 00:28:20.770
Well, it's not like I don't have rapport everywhere I go and I'm not cynical at all.
00:28:20.951 --> 00:28:28.509
No, you know, the only people that get upset when you bank away from them are people who are irritable because they don't have enough vitamin A in their system.
00:28:29.323 --> 00:28:30.448
And it happens every time.
00:28:30.448 --> 00:28:30.851
It's overrated.
00:28:30.851 --> 00:28:32.057
It's overrated.
00:28:32.779 --> 00:28:52.314
Vitamin A really lubricates the in the kidney membrane so people would have so much of our health related problems is related to the fact that we need to have real strong, good, healthy, robust nutrition a lot of it.
00:28:53.981 --> 00:29:07.385
Yeah, I did hear this nutritionist speak one time and he said that they had done tests on back in the fifties of different fruits and vegetables and that sort of thing and measured the vitamin content.
00:29:07.385 --> 00:29:18.505
And the one that stuck out in my mind was I believe it was an apricot currently raised organic apricots.
00:29:18.505 --> 00:29:43.365
The apricots in 1950s, when things didn't have to be organic because there weren't all as many near as many pesticides and poison sprayed on the crops, those apricots from the fifties had 58 more, 58 times more vitamin A than the finest organically grown apricot that you can buy today.
00:29:43.365 --> 00:29:45.305
And this was 10 years ago.
00:29:45.640 --> 00:29:46.663
So, I'm not telling what it is now.
00:29:48.339 --> 00:30:05.182
So yeah, and that's I mean, and it's horrifying, Almost everybody is walking around with some degree of nutritional deficiency and it's surprising that we don't have more problems, but sooner or later everybody ends up in the hospital, pretty much yeah yeah, no wonder.
00:30:05.500 --> 00:30:07.443
Well, on that note, that's a.
00:30:07.443 --> 00:30:13.037
That's about our time here for episode 7 of the optimal human experience.
00:30:13.464 --> 00:30:14.328

Manager relationships, which means get a stick Poco, apoco, little by little.
00:30:42.755 --> 00:31:01.976
That's like one time I was listening to this musician play and I brought my Mexican friend with me and my Mexican friend said Olay at the end of the song and my musician friend says what does that mean, olay?
00:31:01.976 --> 00:31:08.673
And my friend said with milk, olay.
00:31:09.964 --> 00:31:12.309
I don't think so Are you really Mexican?
00:31:12.369 --> 00:31:13.511
