Campton Township acquires another one hundred and thirteen acres of
2
00:00:08.839 --> 00:00:14.320
open space through Conservation Foundation. This article is being read

4
00:00:17.800 --> 00:00:22.039
Conservation Foundation and Campton Township's open Space Program have partnered
5
00:00:22.079 --> 00:00:26.719
to protect more public open space. In September, the Conservation
6
00:00:26.800 --> 00:00:30.600
Foundation transferred ownership of one hundred and thirteen acres known
7
00:00:30.640 --> 00:00:35.679
as the Goldenstein East Farm to the township program. The
8
00:00:35.719 --> 00:00:38.880
Foundation bought the farm in twenty twenty three. The Township's
9
00:00:38.920 --> 00:00:41.960
open space program earned nine hundred and three thousand dollars
10
00:00:42.000 --> 00:00:45.119
through a federally funded Land and Water Conservation Fund grant
11
00:00:45.399 --> 00:00:49.000
from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. This is the
12
00:00:49.039 --> 00:00:51.719
twelfth time we have helped the township acquire more open
13
00:00:51.759 --> 00:00:54.880
space in Campton Township since we started our partnership back
14
00:00:54.920 --> 00:00:58.320
in two thousand. The Conservation Foundation President and CEO Brook
15
00:00:58.359 --> 00:01:01.159
McDonald said in a news release. The c test is
16
00:01:01.200 --> 00:01:05.120
an award winning citizen supported land conservation program, and we
17
00:01:05.120 --> 00:01:07.840
have always been so impressed by the elected leadership and
18
00:01:07.879 --> 00:01:12.640
the local public support for preserving more land. Campton Township
19
00:01:12.680 --> 00:01:15.719
Supervisor John Coupar also noted the township's twenty five plus
20
00:01:15.760 --> 00:01:18.519
year relationship with the Foundation, which he said has helped
21
00:01:18.519 --> 00:01:21.560
the township develop and implement the strategies to successfully win
22
00:01:21.599 --> 00:01:27.000
three referendums over those years. This year, the Conservation Foundation
23
00:01:27.640 --> 00:01:30.920
helped the township secure our third referendum for seventeen point
24
00:01:30.959 --> 00:01:34.120
two million dollars. These funds will allow the township to
25
00:01:34.159 --> 00:01:37.120
continue to grow our open space program and land acquisition,
26
00:01:37.560 --> 00:01:42.239
site restoration and improvements, Coupar said in the release. The
27
00:01:42.280 --> 00:01:45.920
property will join more than one thousand, one hundred forest
28
00:01:45.920 --> 00:01:50.159
preserve in township open space acres in central Campton Township.
29
00:01:50.560 --> 00:01:53.959
The township is creating a north south open space corridor
30
00:01:54.239 --> 00:02:00.000
to provide wildlife habitats and nature opportunities for township residents.
31
00:02:00.040 --> 00:02:02.959
Close to nature is a key ingredient in maintaining quality
32
00:02:02.959 --> 00:02:06.079
of life, and these acquisitions mean that the people in
33
00:02:06.120 --> 00:02:09.680
Campden Township will enjoy good quality of life for generations
34
00:02:09.719 --> 00:02:13.319
to come. Foundation Land Protection Director Dan lobsey Is said
35
00:02:13.319 --> 00:02:17.120
in the news release. Campden Township residents have been able
36
00:02:17.159 --> 00:02:22.199
to enjoy a wide range of open space environments including prairies, wetlands,
37
00:02:22.639 --> 00:02:28.319
oak savannahs, forests, and parks. Coupar said these sites offer
38
00:02:28.360 --> 00:02:32.800
both active and passive recreation opportunities that the township's residents
39
00:02:32.879 --> 00:02:38.319
actively utilize. The Conservation Foundation and Campden Township's Open Space
40
00:02:38.400 --> 00:02:42.400
Program have partnered to preserve over six hundred acres in Campden.
41
00:02:42.919 --> 00:02:45.919
The land has been bought through grants and private donations.
42
00:02:46.800 --> 00:02:50.199
Campton Township's Open Space Program was created via a referendum
43
00:02:50.240 --> 00:02:53.319
in two thousand. The program has preserved more than sixteen
44
00:02:53.439 --> 00:02:57.800
hundred acres of public open space and Campden Township. The
