00:00:19.120 --> 00:00:22.519
Hello everyone, I am Jeff and welcome to History and Factor.
2
00:00:22.559 --> 00:00:24.839
It's about today. Today is August the sixth.
3
00:00:25.519 --> 00:00:29.039
I wont my root been floating, My root be floating
4
00:00:29.120 --> 00:00:32.679
on my room being floating my room floating. I got

my one scoot scoot three stoop float, I got my
6
00:00:36.240 --> 00:00:39.039
fox stoop six scoop. I'm headed off the door. I
7
00:00:39.119 --> 00:00:44.079
want my being floating, my root beer floating, my root floating.
8
00:00:44.759 --> 00:00:48.640
Today is National root Beer Float Day. Eighteen ninety three.
9
00:00:48.759 --> 00:00:52.039
Criple Creek, Colorado. Frank Weisner yet The invented the root
10
00:00:52.039 --> 00:00:54.520
and their float at his own brewing company up there.
11
00:00:54.719 --> 00:00:56.920
Pretty simple. I mean, it's just a couple of scoots
12
00:00:56.920 --> 00:00:58.840
of vanilla ice cream and a glass of root beer.
13
00:00:59.399 --> 00:01:01.280
Now he couldn't minute though, No, he couldn't have. And
14
00:01:01.320 --> 00:01:03.240
the Charles Hines that it created root Bear back in
15
00:01:03.240 --> 00:01:06.879
eighteen seventy six. Nineteen nineteen, the first A and W
16
00:01:07.000 --> 00:01:09.760
root Beer opened up out there in Lodi, California. Now
17
00:01:09.799 --> 00:01:12.560
A and W they're going all out today. Free root
18
00:01:12.560 --> 00:01:14.920
beer floats today from two pm to eight pm. No
19
00:01:15.040 --> 00:01:17.480
purchase necessary, but they would like you to make a
20
00:01:17.519 --> 00:01:20.280
donation to a disabled American vectan so that's pretty cool.
21
00:01:20.560 --> 00:01:22.000
Hamburger standard Wienersisel.
22
00:01:22.040 --> 00:01:22.239
Yeah.
23
00:01:22.239 --> 00:01:25.519
They're also giving away root beer flutes today. Okay, what
24
00:01:25.680 --> 00:01:28.120
happened on August sixth. Back in two thousand and two,
25
00:01:28.680 --> 00:01:31.640
number one album was Busted Stuff by Dave Matthews Band.
26
00:01:31.879 --> 00:01:33.760
Nelly had the number one song with hot in Here.
27
00:01:34.480 --> 00:01:37.439
No deceive it, not enough to sive it, No teas it.
28
00:01:37.879 --> 00:01:39.159
I need you to get.
29
00:01:38.959 --> 00:01:42.439
Up the phone again, no Manwood asking.
30
00:01:42.640 --> 00:01:45.640
So I feel it like busting loop and I feel
31
00:01:45.640 --> 00:01:50.120
it like touching you. It can't know by stock to you. So, baby,
32
00:01:50.159 --> 00:01:55.840
Timmy bust you said it's skinny Hott'll take on all you.
33
00:01:57.640 --> 00:02:00.040
Kenny Chasney had the number one country song with the
34
00:02:00.040 --> 00:02:00.640
Good Stuff.
35
00:02:01.200 --> 00:02:05.719
I'm the ring in the spaghetti place cause your hands shake.
36
00:02:05.439 --> 00:02:06.359
It so much.
37
00:02:07.319 --> 00:02:09.680
And it's the way that she looks with the rest
38
00:02:09.800 --> 00:02:13.919
center hair Etonbirt suffers the whole first.
39
00:02:13.639 --> 00:02:17.199
Year and asking for seconds to keep her from tea.
40
00:02:20.080 --> 00:02:22.000
Yeah, man, that's the good stuff.
41
00:02:24.960 --> 00:02:27.919
The best selling book was The Remnant by Tim Lahay
42
00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:28.479
and Jerry B.
43
00:02:28.639 --> 00:02:29.199
Jenkins.
44
00:02:29.479 --> 00:02:32.639
The top movie was Triple X United States Government and
45
00:02:32.680 --> 00:02:35.759
He gets Xander Cage to infiltrate a Russian crime syndicate
46
00:02:35.800 --> 00:02:38.840
that wants to destroy the world. Stars Vin Diesel, Aeshari
47
00:02:38.919 --> 00:02:40.120
Gento and Samuel L.
48
00:02:40.240 --> 00:02:40.639
Jackson.
49
00:02:41.560 --> 00:02:45.319
Okay, what happened on August sixth, sixteen sixty one is
50
00:02:45.360 --> 00:02:47.960
called the Treaty of the Hague the Dutch. They sold
51
00:02:48.000 --> 00:02:51.120
Brazil to Portugal sixty three tons of gold four point
52
00:02:51.199 --> 00:02:54.960
four billion dollars. Now, when it was proposed to use
53
00:02:55.000 --> 00:02:58.159
electricity for executing people, yeah, I was believed to.
54
00:02:58.120 --> 00:02:59.120
Be a lot more humane.
55
00:02:59.719 --> 00:03:01.520
Wow, I don't know what he did, but they tested
56
00:03:01.560 --> 00:03:04.080
out on a horse and killed the horse with no problem.
57
00:03:04.400 --> 00:03:07.879
So in eighteen ninety in New York, William Krimler, he
58
00:03:07.919 --> 00:03:10.080
had been convicted a murder for killing his wife with
59
00:03:10.080 --> 00:03:12.520
the hatchet. Oh Willie, he received the honor being the
60
00:03:12.520 --> 00:03:16.120
first person executed in the electric chair. So they strapped
61
00:03:16.199 --> 00:03:19.560
him in and they zapped him with one thousand vaults
62
00:03:19.560 --> 00:03:22.919
of electricity for about seventeen seconds. Well, unlike the horse,
63
00:03:22.960 --> 00:03:25.479
will he didn't die. So they cranked it up to
64
00:03:25.520 --> 00:03:28.000
two thousand vaults and then they had led her up. Well,
65
00:03:28.000 --> 00:03:31.080
he started bleeding out of orifice in his body. Those
66
00:03:31.199 --> 00:03:32.520
mouths ears.
67
00:03:32.159 --> 00:03:32.680
Are all that.
68
00:03:33.039 --> 00:03:35.960
Then he caught fire. Well, the witnesses they all started
69
00:03:36.000 --> 00:03:37.919
throwing up. As bad as it looked, I guess the
70
00:03:37.960 --> 00:03:40.240
smell was even worse. So it took him eight minutes
71
00:03:40.280 --> 00:03:41.879
to die.
72
00:03:42.080 --> 00:03:42.639
More human.
73
00:03:43.439 --> 00:03:46.280
Nineteen twenty six, America's twenty year old Gertrude Italy. She
74
00:03:46.319 --> 00:03:48.840
began the first women to swing the English channel. She
75
00:03:48.919 --> 00:03:51.439
did in fourteen hours and thirty four minutes. That was
76
00:03:51.479 --> 00:03:54.199
two hours faster than any guy had done it. Yeah,
77
00:03:54.240 --> 00:03:56.479
her record actually stood for twenty four years until nineteen
78
00:03:56.560 --> 00:04:00.439
fifty when some dude broke it. Nineteen forty five, fifteen
79
00:04:00.439 --> 00:04:02.840
in the morning, the United States B twenty nine bomber
80
00:04:02.960 --> 00:04:05.319
named the Nolah Gay. It was named after its pilot,
81
00:04:05.360 --> 00:04:08.319
Paul Tabis' his mom, dropped an atomic bomb named Little
82
00:04:08.319 --> 00:04:11.439
Boy on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Now the bomb
83
00:04:11.639 --> 00:04:14.080
killed one hundred and fifty thousand people pretty much instantly.
84
00:04:14.120 --> 00:04:16.519
It's really unknown how many people died from the radioation
85
00:04:16.720 --> 00:04:21.000
poisoning after that took place. Nineteen sixty five, President Lindon
86
00:04:21.079 --> 00:04:24.480
Johnson he signed the Voting Rights Act, air prohibited discrimination
87
00:04:24.560 --> 00:04:28.079
against minorities when it comes to elections. Twenty fifteen, out
88
00:04:28.120 --> 00:04:31.160
there in Pittsburgh, they held the world's largest pinball tournament
89
00:04:31.160 --> 00:04:33.360
in history, used over seven hundred machines.
90
00:04:33.879 --> 00:04:34.439
Zach Sharp.
91
00:04:34.519 --> 00:04:43.879
He won it, got fifteen thousand dollars in a free gameke.
92
00:04:40.040 --> 00:04:45.519
Co joke joke, dish shibt day. We're gonna par He
93
00:04:45.639 --> 00:04:48.079
left thish shib day. We want simpletage.
94
00:04:48.120 --> 00:04:51.040
He like thish shiburt day. And you know we don't get.
95
00:04:52.920 --> 00:04:53.360
Let's see.
96
00:04:53.399 --> 00:04:56.800
It's born on August the sixth Alexander Fleming. He was
97
00:04:56.839 --> 00:04:59.079
born in Darvo, Scotland, in eighteen eighty one.
98
00:04:59.360 --> 00:04:59.879
Now he was a.
99
00:05:00.000 --> 00:05:03.160
Micro biologist and he is a guy discovered pitoicillin. Yeah,
100
00:05:03.160 --> 00:05:04.959
and it's true. It was basically because he left his
101
00:05:05.040 --> 00:05:07.519
lunch out. That's so much shocked. But anyway, it's considered
102
00:05:07.519 --> 00:05:10.160
one of the greatest discoveries in human history. I mean
103
00:05:10.199 --> 00:05:12.720
we take it for granted nowadays. But before penicillin, yeah,
104
00:05:12.720 --> 00:05:15.800
that was pretty bad for people. But both his wives
105
00:05:15.839 --> 00:05:18.360
they did die, but not in anything penicillin could have fixed.
106
00:05:18.639 --> 00:05:20.800
Then he had a son from his first wife, Flaming.
107
00:05:20.839 --> 00:05:23.000
He died from heart attack nineteen fifty five at seventy
108
00:05:23.040 --> 00:05:27.480
three years old. Hoot Gibson. He was born in Techama, Nebraska,
109
00:05:27.480 --> 00:05:30.560
in eighteen ninety two. He was an all around champion cowboy.
110
00:05:30.879 --> 00:05:33.079
Well out there in California. They needed cowboys to make
111
00:05:33.120 --> 00:05:35.199
silent films, so hoot He was perfect. He knew how
112
00:05:35.199 --> 00:05:38.839
to work with horses. Started acting in nineteen twelve, acting
113
00:05:38.879 --> 00:05:41.480
until nineteen fifty nine. He was in over two hundred
114
00:05:41.560 --> 00:05:44.360
silent and seventy five talking movies. Now, between World War
115
00:05:44.399 --> 00:05:46.000
One and World War Two, hoot He was the second
116
00:05:46.040 --> 00:05:49.120
biggest office box office draw there was. Yep, he's behind
117
00:05:49.160 --> 00:05:52.920
another cowboy, Tom Mix. Hoot He married and divorced three actresses.
118
00:05:53.120 --> 00:05:56.120
He had his son from actress number two. Nineteen fifty two,
119
00:05:56.199 --> 00:05:58.079
fifty year old hoot He married himself with a twenty
120
00:05:58.079 --> 00:06:01.279
two year old Yieldler. They were there for twenty years.
121
00:06:01.480 --> 00:06:02.959
They were there until who do You Find the Dad
122
00:06:03.040 --> 00:06:05.199
of Cancer? In nineteen sixty two, at seventy years old.
123
00:06:25.000 --> 00:06:28.199
Lucille Ball she's one of Jamestown, New York. In nineteen eleven.
124
00:06:28.360 --> 00:06:30.920
She started out as a model, then she went on Broadway.
125
00:06:31.040 --> 00:06:34.680
Nineteen forty she married Desi Arnaz. They created Desilu Production.
126
00:06:34.800 --> 00:06:37.199
Of course, they created that I Love Lucy's Show. They
127
00:06:37.240 --> 00:06:40.720
divorced in nineteen sixty after twenty years. Deasi Now he
128
00:06:40.759 --> 00:06:43.839
had been very successfully running Desilu all that time. Well,
129
00:06:43.839 --> 00:06:45.879
he decided after that divorce he was done. He wanted
130
00:06:45.879 --> 00:06:47.959
to go into something else, So Lucy took over. She
131
00:06:48.040 --> 00:06:51.160
was the first woman to be to basically own and
132
00:06:51.279 --> 00:06:54.720
manage a major Hollywood production company. Some of the shows
133
00:06:54.720 --> 00:06:58.160
that she put on the air Mission Impossible, The Untouchables
134
00:06:58.319 --> 00:06:58.879
star Trek.
135
00:06:59.000 --> 00:07:02.160
Yeah, that was Lucy. Now her and Dessy. They had
136
00:07:02.199 --> 00:07:03.800
a son and a daughter. Lucy.
137
00:07:03.839 --> 00:07:06.199
She married her second husband in nineteen sixty one. They
138
00:07:06.199 --> 00:07:08.680
were together until Lucy died at seventy seven years old
139
00:07:08.720 --> 00:07:13.600
in nineteen eighty nine from an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Actor
140
00:07:13.720 --> 00:07:17.279
Robert Mitcham. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in nineteen seventeen.
141
00:07:17.680 --> 00:07:19.959
When he was seventeen, he ran away from home. He up,
142
00:07:20.040 --> 00:07:22.199
he went down south, went to Georgia. Then he got
143
00:07:22.199 --> 00:07:24.480
sentenced to a chain gang for being a vagrant. Why
144
00:07:24.480 --> 00:07:26.680
he was able to escape the chain gang, Yeah, ran
145
00:07:26.759 --> 00:07:29.439
back up to New England. Yeah, I went and decided
146
00:07:29.439 --> 00:07:31.600
to be an actor. Now he is considered one of
147
00:07:31.639 --> 00:07:34.800
the best movie stars of all time. Now not actors, no, no, no,
148
00:07:34.920 --> 00:07:36.720
one of the best movie stars. Kind of think like
149
00:07:36.839 --> 00:07:39.600
Kenoa Reeves. Now he is in over one hundred movies.
150
00:07:39.639 --> 00:07:42.000
Some of them are thirty Seconds over Tokyo River of
151
00:07:42.000 --> 00:07:45.199
No Return, The Longest Day, Midway Starting, all those big
152
00:07:45.240 --> 00:07:47.839
sitcoms in the eight or Sitcops, standing in all the
153
00:07:47.879 --> 00:07:50.040
mini series in the eighties, The Winds of war Warren,
154
00:07:50.079 --> 00:07:51.480
remember North and South.
155
00:07:52.040 --> 00:07:52.160
Now.
156
00:07:52.199 --> 00:07:54.040
He met his wife when he was sixteen years old
157
00:07:54.040 --> 00:07:56.680
and she was seventeen. They got married in nineteen forty.
158
00:07:57.160 --> 00:07:59.279
They had two sons and one daughter. They were together
159
00:07:59.360 --> 00:08:02.000
until Mitchell died nineteen ninety seven and seventy nine years
160
00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:06.240
old from lung cancer. Artist Andy Warhol, he was born
161
00:08:06.279 --> 00:08:07.879
in Pittsburg in nineteen twenty eight.
162
00:08:08.360 --> 00:08:10.439
I guess you called him a pop artist. I don't know.
163
00:08:10.800 --> 00:08:12.920
He got famous, you know, for painting like campbell, soup
164
00:08:12.959 --> 00:08:15.000
cans and that kind of stuff. Now, he did a
165
00:08:15.040 --> 00:08:17.879
silk screen in nineteen sixty three. It was called Silver
166
00:08:17.920 --> 00:08:21.199
Car Crash. It showed the mangled interior of a crashed
167
00:08:21.199 --> 00:08:24.120
silver car. Sold a few years ago. Yeah, one hundred
168
00:08:24.120 --> 00:08:26.879
and five million dollars and just three years ago. He
169
00:08:26.920 --> 00:08:31.199
has a print. It's called shot Sage Blue Maryland. He
170
00:08:31.279 --> 00:08:33.799
did that back at nineteen sixty four, So for one
171
00:08:33.840 --> 00:08:36.879
hundred and ninety five million dollars. Yeah, it's just basically
172
00:08:36.960 --> 00:08:40.679
a really goofy looking portrait of Maryland Monroe now nineteen
173
00:08:40.759 --> 00:08:44.879
sixty nine. This radical nut job lesbian feminist wanted to
174
00:08:45.120 --> 00:08:47.720
rid the world of men. She decided to start with
175
00:08:47.840 --> 00:08:50.240
a gay man, Andy Wirrel. Yeah, she saw him, shot
176
00:08:50.320 --> 00:08:52.399
him in the stomach. Well, he lived, but he had
177
00:08:52.440 --> 00:08:54.080
to live the rest of his life wearing a medical
178
00:08:54.120 --> 00:08:56.679
courset to keep his internal organs all in place. She
179
00:08:56.720 --> 00:08:58.360
only got three years in jail for it. Well it
180
00:08:58.399 --> 00:09:00.600
was in New York City, what do you expect? And
181
00:09:00.679 --> 00:09:02.840
he died in nineteen eighty seven and fifty eight years old,
182
00:09:02.879 --> 00:09:07.159
falling gall Blider surgery science.
183
00:09:07.519 --> 00:09:10.879
I love my classes. He got a crazy teacher. Where's
184
00:09:10.879 --> 00:09:19.279
the classes? Things are going crazy? Only I'm doing all right.
185
00:09:24.600 --> 00:09:24.919
Shame.
186
00:09:26.320 --> 00:09:29.240
That was Pat McDonald singing along with his wife Barbara.
187
00:09:29.320 --> 00:09:31.039
They were the duo Tim Buck three.
188
00:09:31.679 --> 00:09:32.200
Yeah I know.
189
00:09:32.840 --> 00:09:35.440
Pat was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin in nineteen fifty two.
190
00:09:35.519 --> 00:09:38.360
He's seventy four today. Future so bright. That was their
191
00:09:38.360 --> 00:09:40.440
only song that really did anything. They divorced in nineteen
192
00:09:40.519 --> 00:09:42.720
ninety five. But Pat, he is a really big big
193
00:09:42.759 --> 00:09:45.279
time songwriter. Just some of the people he wrote hit
194
00:09:45.320 --> 00:09:49.039
songs for her share Keith Urban, Aerosmith, Billy Ray, Cyrus,
195
00:09:49.120 --> 00:09:49.600
Night Ranger.
196
00:09:49.639 --> 00:09:50.600
Yeah, it's a long list.
197
00:09:51.399 --> 00:09:54.039
Actress Michelle Yeah was sixty four. She's born in Malaysia
198
00:09:54.039 --> 00:09:56.879
in nineteen sixty two. She started out as a martial
199
00:09:57.000 --> 00:09:59.480
artist movie star out there in Asia, first in the
200
00:09:59.519 --> 00:10:01.879
United States. It's in the James Bond movie Tomorrow Never
201
00:10:02.000 --> 00:10:06.440
Dies and Crouching Tire, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I think
202
00:10:06.480 --> 00:10:09.840
I got that right. Remains the Gisha, crazy rich Asian.
203
00:10:09.879 --> 00:10:12.320
She want to Oscar for everything, everywhere, all the time.
204
00:10:12.879 --> 00:10:15.919
She married her second husband in twenty twenty three. Now Michelle,
205
00:10:16.200 --> 00:10:18.639
she is the only actress that Jackie Chan ever let
206
00:10:18.679 --> 00:10:19.879
do her own stunts in any.
207
00:10:19.759 --> 00:10:20.360
Of his movies.
208
00:10:25.480 --> 00:10:26.519
It's Train.
209
00:10:41.000 --> 00:10:42.960
No, that was not the Weather Girls, it was a
210
00:10:43.000 --> 00:10:46.279
Spice Girl singing solo. Jerry Hollowell was fifty four. She's
211
00:10:46.320 --> 00:10:49.159
born on Walford, England, in nineteen seventy two. Jerry, She's
212
00:10:49.159 --> 00:10:51.960
best known as Ginger Spice. Maybe not the most popular,
213
00:10:52.000 --> 00:10:54.120
but still one of the Spice Girls. Now they've sold
214
00:10:54.120 --> 00:10:56.440
overrun a million records. That makes them the best selling
215
00:10:56.480 --> 00:10:59.320
all female group of all time, even though guys played
216
00:10:59.320 --> 00:11:01.879
all the instruments that spice girls. They made a good
217
00:11:02.000 --> 00:11:04.320
tribe and they show. Yeah, they're not coming back anymore.
218
00:11:04.360 --> 00:11:07.559
It looks like they're completely done now. As a solo artist, Jerry,
219
00:11:07.600 --> 00:11:09.960
she sold over fifty million records. None of her STEP's
220
00:11:09.960 --> 00:11:12.440
been released in the United States though. Now she had
221
00:11:12.480 --> 00:11:14.919
a daughter from a boyfriend. She got married in twenty
222
00:11:14.960 --> 00:11:15.840
fifteen and they have a.
223
00:11:15.799 --> 00:11:25.000
Son only day sign.
224
00:11:31.759 --> 00:11:32.159
Around.
225
00:11:38.159 --> 00:11:40.639
I'll be honest, I had no idea. The TV show
226
00:11:40.679 --> 00:11:43.360
Punky Brewster had a theme song. That girl who played
227
00:11:43.360 --> 00:11:47.279
Punky Brewster. She's fifty today, so Leo Moonfry. She was
228
00:11:47.279 --> 00:11:50.240
born in Glendora, California, in nineteen seventy six. She was
229
00:11:50.240 --> 00:11:52.720
eight when she started playing Punky. Now do you know
230
00:11:52.759 --> 00:11:56.039
what Punky Brewster's actual name was. It was Penelope. She's
231
00:11:56.039 --> 00:11:58.320
a Penelope Brewster now after Punky.
232
00:11:58.480 --> 00:11:59.080
Yeah, so Alio.
233
00:11:59.120 --> 00:12:02.120
She went on does Brina the Teenage Witch, which is
234
00:12:02.159 --> 00:12:04.799
kind of funny because the star of Sabrina the Teenage
235
00:12:04.879 --> 00:12:08.519
Rich was Melissa Joan Hart. Now Salil beat out Melissa
236
00:12:08.639 --> 00:12:09.879
as Punky Brewster.
237
00:12:09.639 --> 00:12:10.519
With the auditions.
238
00:12:11.200 --> 00:12:11.639
So yeah.
239
00:12:11.720 --> 00:12:14.039
She married almost twenty four years and they had four
240
00:12:14.120 --> 00:12:16.200
kids together. After they divorced, they had two sons and
241
00:12:16.240 --> 00:12:20.120
two daughters. Okay, quote of the day, it's gonna come
242
00:12:20.120 --> 00:12:23.440
from Rick James Freedom.
243
00:12:29.360 --> 00:12:30.759
I really love she said.
244
00:12:30.759 --> 00:12:30.919
So.
245
00:12:33.200 --> 00:12:36.360
Ches alright, chez alright.
246
00:12:38.759 --> 00:12:39.279
With me.
247
00:12:41.720 --> 00:12:44.039
Rick died today in two thousand and four, fifty six
248
00:12:44.159 --> 00:12:48.759

We'll talk tomorrow.
257
00:13:10.600 --> 00:13:14.279
I love this water and holding no ball, I eat
258
00:13:14.480 --> 00:13:18.559
ball and a throw back cover band usually lets me
259
00:13:19.080 --> 00:13:21.960
drop a five inch of jar for still guitar on
260
00:13:21.960 --> 00:13:25.440
a hardbreack song. But damn, here's a twenty in It's

I can't do it tonight. Boys.
263
00:13:30.360 --> 00:13:34.039
It'll feel two real too close to a home. I'm
264
00:13:34.120 --> 00:13:35.320
two toll rubbing.
265
00:13:35.399 --> 00:13:42.159
She's too far doll, don't play me no hang, no willing,
266
00:13:42.320 --> 00:13:47.200

269
00:13:54.279 --> 00:13:59.720

270
00:14:00.120 --> 00:14:03.559
I saw all this kind of night.
271
00:14:12.200 --> 00:14:14.360
When I'm going them back beneath and.
272
00:14:14.440 --> 00:14:17.840
Me all night ain't nothing like a little low school.
273
00:14:17.879 --> 00:14:22.840
It hurt always on my nine. Yesterday's win a wrong

277
00:14:34.639 --> 00:14:35.080
a home.
278
00:14:35.480 --> 00:14:36.080
I'm too.
279
00:14:36.279 --> 00:14:38.519
Told of a Chicks Too by co
1
00:00:19.120 --> 00:00:22.519
Hello everyone, I am Jeff and welcome to History and Factor.
2
00:00:22.559 --> 00:00:24.839
It's about today. Today is August the sixth.
3
00:00:25.519 --> 00:00:29.039
I wont my root been floating, My root be floating
4
00:00:29.120 --> 00:00:32.679
on my room being floating my room floating. I got
5
00:00:32.719 --> 00:00:36.119
my one scoot scoot three stoop float, I got my
6
00:00:36.240 --> 00:00:39.039
fox stoop six scoop. I'm headed off the door. I
7
00:00:39.119 --> 00:00:44.079
want my being floating, my root beer floating, my root floating.
8
00:00:44.759 --> 00:00:48.640
Today is National root Beer Float Day. Eighteen ninety three.
9
00:00:48.759 --> 00:00:52.039
Criple Creek, Colorado. Frank Weisner yet The invented the root
10
00:00:52.039 --> 00:00:54.520
and their float at his own brewing company up there.
11
00:00:54.719 --> 00:00:56.920
Pretty simple. I mean, it's just a couple of scoots
12
00:00:56.920 --> 00:00:58.840
of vanilla ice cream and a glass of root beer.
13
00:00:59.399 --> 00:01:01.280
Now he couldn't minute though, No, he couldn't have. And
14
00:01:01.320 --> 00:01:03.240
the Charles Hines that it created root Bear back in
15
00:01:03.240 --> 00:01:06.879
eighteen seventy six. Nineteen nineteen, the first A and W
16
00:01:07.000 --> 00:01:09.760
root Beer opened up out there in Lodi, California. Now
17
00:01:09.799 --> 00:01:12.560
A and W they're going all out today. Free root
18
00:01:12.560 --> 00:01:14.920
beer floats today from two pm to eight pm. No
19
00:01:15.040 --> 00:01:17.480
purchase necessary, but they would like you to make a
20
00:01:17.519 --> 00:01:20.280
donation to a disabled American vectan so that's pretty cool.
21
00:01:20.560 --> 00:01:22.000
Hamburger standard Wienersisel.
22
00:01:22.040 --> 00:01:22.239
Yeah.
23
00:01:22.239 --> 00:01:25.519
They're also giving away root beer flutes today. Okay, what
24
00:01:25.680 --> 00:01:28.120
happened on August sixth. Back in two thousand and two,
25
00:01:28.680 --> 00:01:31.640
number one album was Busted Stuff by Dave Matthews Band.
26
00:01:31.879 --> 00:01:33.760
Nelly had the number one song with hot in Here.
27
00:01:34.480 --> 00:01:37.439
No deceive it, not enough to sive it, No teas it.
28
00:01:37.879 --> 00:01:39.159
I need you to get.
29
00:01:38.959 --> 00:01:42.439
Up the phone again, no Manwood asking.
30
00:01:42.640 --> 00:01:45.640
So I feel it like busting loop and I feel
31
00:01:45.640 --> 00:01:50.120
it like touching you. It can't know by stock to you. So, baby,
32
00:01:50.159 --> 00:01:55.840
Timmy bust you said it's skinny Hott'll take on all you.
33
00:01:57.640 --> 00:02:00.040
Kenny Chasney had the number one country song with the
34
00:02:00.040 --> 00:02:00.640
Good Stuff.
35
00:02:01.200 --> 00:02:05.719
I'm the ring in the spaghetti place cause your hands shake.
36
00:02:05.439 --> 00:02:06.359
It so much.
37
00:02:07.319 --> 00:02:09.680
And it's the way that she looks with the rest
38
00:02:09.800 --> 00:02:13.919
center hair Etonbirt suffers the whole first.
39
00:02:13.639 --> 00:02:17.199
Year and asking for seconds to keep her from tea.
40
00:02:20.080 --> 00:02:22.000
Yeah, man, that's the good stuff.
41
00:02:24.960 --> 00:02:27.919
The best selling book was The Remnant by Tim Lahay
42
00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:28.479
and Jerry B.
43
00:02:28.639 --> 00:02:29.199
Jenkins.
44
00:02:29.479 --> 00:02:32.639
The top movie was Triple X United States Government and
45
00:02:32.680 --> 00:02:35.759
He gets Xander Cage to infiltrate a Russian crime syndicate
46
00:02:35.800 --> 00:02:38.840
that wants to destroy the world. Stars Vin Diesel, Aeshari
47
00:02:38.919 --> 00:02:40.120
Gento and Samuel L.
48
00:02:40.240 --> 00:02:40.639
Jackson.
49
00:02:41.560 --> 00:02:45.319
Okay, what happened on August sixth, sixteen sixty one is
50
00:02:45.360 --> 00:02:47.960
called the Treaty of the Hague the Dutch. They sold
51
00:02:48.000 --> 00:02:51.120
Brazil to Portugal sixty three tons of gold four point
52
00:02:51.199 --> 00:02:54.960
four billion dollars. Now, when it was proposed to use
53
00:02:55.000 --> 00:02:58.159
electricity for executing people, yeah, I was believed to.
54
00:02:58.120 --> 00:02:59.120
Be a lot more humane.
55
00:02:59.719 --> 00:03:01.520
Wow, I don't know what he did, but they tested
56
00:03:01.560 --> 00:03:04.080
out on a horse and killed the horse with no problem.
57
00:03:04.400 --> 00:03:07.879
So in eighteen ninety in New York, William Krimler, he
58
00:03:07.919 --> 00:03:10.080
had been convicted a murder for killing his wife with
59
00:03:10.080 --> 00:03:12.520
the hatchet. Oh Willie, he received the honor being the
60
00:03:12.520 --> 00:03:16.120
first person executed in the electric chair. So they strapped
61
00:03:16.199 --> 00:03:19.560
him in and they zapped him with one thousand vaults
62
00:03:19.560 --> 00:03:22.919
of electricity for about seventeen seconds. Well, unlike the horse,
63
00:03:22.960 --> 00:03:25.479
will he didn't die. So they cranked it up to
64
00:03:25.520 --> 00:03:28.000
two thousand vaults and then they had led her up. Well,
65
00:03:28.000 --> 00:03:31.080
he started bleeding out of orifice in his body. Those
66
00:03:31.199 --> 00:03:32.520
mouths ears.
67
00:03:32.159 --> 00:03:32.680
Are all that.
68
00:03:33.039 --> 00:03:35.960
Then he caught fire. Well, the witnesses they all started
69
00:03:36.000 --> 00:03:37.919
throwing up. As bad as it looked, I guess the
70
00:03:37.960 --> 00:03:40.240
smell was even worse. So it took him eight minutes
71
00:03:40.280 --> 00:03:41.879
to die.
72
00:03:42.080 --> 00:03:42.639
More human.
73
00:03:43.439 --> 00:03:46.280
Nineteen twenty six, America's twenty year old Gertrude Italy. She
74
00:03:46.319 --> 00:03:48.840
began the first women to swing the English channel. She
75
00:03:48.919 --> 00:03:51.439
did in fourteen hours and thirty four minutes. That was
76
00:03:51.479 --> 00:03:54.199
two hours faster than any guy had done it. Yeah,
77
00:03:54.240 --> 00:03:56.479
her record actually stood for twenty four years until nineteen
78
00:03:56.560 --> 00:04:00.439
fifty when some dude broke it. Nineteen forty five, fifteen
79
00:04:00.439 --> 00:04:02.840
in the morning, the United States B twenty nine bomber
80
00:04:02.960 --> 00:04:05.319
named the Nolah Gay. It was named after its pilot,
81
00:04:05.360 --> 00:04:08.319
Paul Tabis' his mom, dropped an atomic bomb named Little
82
00:04:08.319 --> 00:04:11.439
Boy on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Now the bomb
83
00:04:11.639 --> 00:04:14.080
killed one hundred and fifty thousand people pretty much instantly.
84
00:04:14.120 --> 00:04:16.519
It's really unknown how many people died from the radioation
85
00:04:16.720 --> 00:04:21.000
poisoning after that took place. Nineteen sixty five, President Lindon
86
00:04:21.079 --> 00:04:24.480
Johnson he signed the Voting Rights Act, air prohibited discrimination
87
00:04:24.560 --> 00:04:28.079
against minorities when it comes to elections. Twenty fifteen, out
88
00:04:28.120 --> 00:04:31.160
there in Pittsburgh, they held the world's largest pinball tournament
89
00:04:31.160 --> 00:04:33.360
in history, used over seven hundred machines.
90
00:04:33.879 --> 00:04:34.439
Zach Sharp.
91
00:04:34.519 --> 00:04:43.879
He won it, got fifteen thousand dollars in a free gameke.
92
00:04:40.040 --> 00:04:45.519
Co joke joke, dish shibt day. We're gonna par He
93
00:04:45.639 --> 00:04:48.079
left thish shib day. We want simpletage.
94
00:04:48.120 --> 00:04:51.040
He like thish shiburt day. And you know we don't get.
95
00:04:52.920 --> 00:04:53.360
Let's see.
96
00:04:53.399 --> 00:04:56.800
It's born on August the sixth Alexander Fleming. He was
97
00:04:56.839 --> 00:04:59.079
born in Darvo, Scotland, in eighteen eighty one.
98
00:04:59.360 --> 00:04:59.879
Now he was a.
99
00:05:00.000 --> 00:05:03.160
Micro biologist and he is a guy discovered pitoicillin. Yeah,
100
00:05:03.160 --> 00:05:04.959
and it's true. It was basically because he left his
101
00:05:05.040 --> 00:05:07.519
lunch out. That's so much shocked. But anyway, it's considered
102
00:05:07.519 --> 00:05:10.160
one of the greatest discoveries in human history. I mean
103
00:05:10.199 --> 00:05:12.720
we take it for granted nowadays. But before penicillin, yeah,
104
00:05:12.720 --> 00:05:15.800
that was pretty bad for people. But both his wives
105
00:05:15.839 --> 00:05:18.360
they did die, but not in anything penicillin could have fixed.
106
00:05:18.639 --> 00:05:20.800
Then he had a son from his first wife, Flaming.
107
00:05:20.839 --> 00:05:23.000
He died from heart attack nineteen fifty five at seventy
108
00:05:23.040 --> 00:05:27.480
three years old. Hoot Gibson. He was born in Techama, Nebraska,
109
00:05:27.480 --> 00:05:30.560
in eighteen ninety two. He was an all around champion cowboy.
110
00:05:30.879 --> 00:05:33.079
Well out there in California. They needed cowboys to make
111
00:05:33.120 --> 00:05:35.199
silent films, so hoot He was perfect. He knew how
112
00:05:35.199 --> 00:05:38.839
to work with horses. Started acting in nineteen twelve, acting
113
00:05:38.879 --> 00:05:41.480
until nineteen fifty nine. He was in over two hundred
114
00:05:41.560 --> 00:05:44.360
silent and seventy five talking movies. Now, between World War
115
00:05:44.399 --> 00:05:46.000
One and World War Two, hoot He was the second
116
00:05:46.040 --> 00:05:49.120
biggest office box office draw there was. Yep, he's behind
117
00:05:49.160 --> 00:05:52.920
another cowboy, Tom Mix. Hoot He married and divorced three actresses.
118
00:05:53.120 --> 00:05:56.120
He had his son from actress number two. Nineteen fifty two,
119
00:05:56.199 --> 00:05:58.079
fifty year old hoot He married himself with a twenty
120
00:05:58.079 --> 00:06:01.279
two year old Yieldler. They were there for twenty years.
121
00:06:01.480 --> 00:06:02.959
They were there until who do You Find the Dad
122
00:06:03.040 --> 00:06:05.199
of Cancer? In nineteen sixty two, at seventy years old.
123
00:06:25.000 --> 00:06:28.199
Lucille Ball she's one of Jamestown, New York. In nineteen eleven.
124
00:06:28.360 --> 00:06:30.920
She started out as a model, then she went on Broadway.
125
00:06:31.040 --> 00:06:34.680
Nineteen forty she married Desi Arnaz. They created Desilu Production.
126
00:06:34.800 --> 00:06:37.199
Of course, they created that I Love Lucy's Show. They
127
00:06:37.240 --> 00:06:40.720
divorced in nineteen sixty after twenty years. Deasi Now he
128
00:06:40.759 --> 00:06:43.839
had been very successfully running Desilu all that time. Well,
129
00:06:43.839 --> 00:06:45.879
he decided after that divorce he was done. He wanted
130
00:06:45.879 --> 00:06:47.959
to go into something else, So Lucy took over. She
131
00:06:48.040 --> 00:06:51.160
was the first woman to be to basically own and
132
00:06:51.279 --> 00:06:54.720
manage a major Hollywood production company. Some of the shows
133
00:06:54.720 --> 00:06:58.160
that she put on the air Mission Impossible, The Untouchables
134
00:06:58.319 --> 00:06:58.879
star Trek.
135
00:06:59.000 --> 00:07:02.160
Yeah, that was Lucy. Now her and Dessy. They had
136
00:07:02.199 --> 00:07:03.800
a son and a daughter. Lucy.
137
00:07:03.839 --> 00:07:06.199
She married her second husband in nineteen sixty one. They
138
00:07:06.199 --> 00:07:08.680
were together until Lucy died at seventy seven years old
139
00:07:08.720 --> 00:07:13.600
in nineteen eighty nine from an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Actor
140
00:07:13.720 --> 00:07:17.279
Robert Mitcham. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in nineteen seventeen.
141
00:07:17.680 --> 00:07:19.959
When he was seventeen, he ran away from home. He up,
142
00:07:20.040 --> 00:07:22.199
he went down south, went to Georgia. Then he got
143
00:07:22.199 --> 00:07:24.480
sentenced to a chain gang for being a vagrant. Why
144
00:07:24.480 --> 00:07:26.680
he was able to escape the chain gang, Yeah, ran
145
00:07:26.759 --> 00:07:29.439
back up to New England. Yeah, I went and decided
146
00:07:29.439 --> 00:07:31.600
to be an actor. Now he is considered one of
147
00:07:31.639 --> 00:07:34.800
the best movie stars of all time. Now not actors, no, no, no,
148
00:07:34.920 --> 00:07:36.720
one of the best movie stars. Kind of think like
149
00:07:36.839 --> 00:07:39.600
Kenoa Reeves. Now he is in over one hundred movies.
150
00:07:39.639 --> 00:07:42.000
Some of them are thirty Seconds over Tokyo River of
151
00:07:42.000 --> 00:07:45.199
No Return, The Longest Day, Midway Starting, all those big
152
00:07:45.240 --> 00:07:47.839
sitcoms in the eight or Sitcops, standing in all the
153
00:07:47.879 --> 00:07:50.040
mini series in the eighties, The Winds of war Warren,
154
00:07:50.079 --> 00:07:51.480
remember North and South.
155
00:07:52.040 --> 00:07:52.160
Now.
156
00:07:52.199 --> 00:07:54.040
He met his wife when he was sixteen years old
157
00:07:54.040 --> 00:07:56.680
and she was seventeen. They got married in nineteen forty.
158
00:07:57.160 --> 00:07:59.279
They had two sons and one daughter. They were together
159
00:07:59.360 --> 00:08:02.000
until Mitchell died nineteen ninety seven and seventy nine years
160
00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:06.240
old from lung cancer. Artist Andy Warhol, he was born
161
00:08:06.279 --> 00:08:07.879
in Pittsburg in nineteen twenty eight.
162
00:08:08.360 --> 00:08:10.439
I guess you called him a pop artist. I don't know.
163
00:08:10.800 --> 00:08:12.920
He got famous, you know, for painting like campbell, soup
164
00:08:12.959 --> 00:08:15.000
cans and that kind of stuff. Now, he did a
165
00:08:15.040 --> 00:08:17.879
silk screen in nineteen sixty three. It was called Silver
166
00:08:17.920 --> 00:08:21.199
Car Crash. It showed the mangled interior of a crashed
167
00:08:21.199 --> 00:08:24.120
silver car. Sold a few years ago. Yeah, one hundred
168
00:08:24.120 --> 00:08:26.879
and five million dollars and just three years ago. He
169
00:08:26.920 --> 00:08:31.199
has a print. It's called shot Sage Blue Maryland. He
170
00:08:31.279 --> 00:08:33.799
did that back at nineteen sixty four, So for one
171
00:08:33.840 --> 00:08:36.879
hundred and ninety five million dollars. Yeah, it's just basically
172
00:08:36.960 --> 00:08:40.679
a really goofy looking portrait of Maryland Monroe now nineteen
173
00:08:40.759 --> 00:08:44.879
sixty nine. This radical nut job lesbian feminist wanted to
174
00:08:45.120 --> 00:08:47.720
rid the world of men. She decided to start with
175
00:08:47.840 --> 00:08:50.240
a gay man, Andy Wirrel. Yeah, she saw him, shot
176
00:08:50.320 --> 00:08:52.399
him in the stomach. Well, he lived, but he had
177
00:08:52.440 --> 00:08:54.080
to live the rest of his life wearing a medical
178
00:08:54.120 --> 00:08:56.679
courset to keep his internal organs all in place. She
179
00:08:56.720 --> 00:08:58.360
only got three years in jail for it. Well it
180
00:08:58.399 --> 00:09:00.600
was in New York City, what do you expect? And
181
00:09:00.679 --> 00:09:02.840
he died in nineteen eighty seven and fifty eight years old,
182
00:09:02.879 --> 00:09:07.159
falling gall Blider surgery science.
183
00:09:07.519 --> 00:09:10.879
I love my classes. He got a crazy teacher. Where's
184
00:09:10.879 --> 00:09:19.279
the classes? Things are going crazy? Only I'm doing all right.
185
00:09:24.600 --> 00:09:24.919
Shame.
186
00:09:26.320 --> 00:09:29.240
That was Pat McDonald singing along with his wife Barbara.
187
00:09:29.320 --> 00:09:31.039
They were the duo Tim Buck three.
188
00:09:31.679 --> 00:09:32.200
Yeah I know.
189
00:09:32.840 --> 00:09:35.440
Pat was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin in nineteen fifty two.
190
00:09:35.519 --> 00:09:38.360
He's seventy four today. Future so bright. That was their
191
00:09:38.360 --> 00:09:40.440
only song that really did anything. They divorced in nineteen
192
00:09:40.519 --> 00:09:42.720
ninety five. But Pat, he is a really big big
193
00:09:42.759 --> 00:09:45.279
time songwriter. Just some of the people he wrote hit
194
00:09:45.320 --> 00:09:49.039
songs for her share Keith Urban, Aerosmith, Billy Ray, Cyrus,
195
00:09:49.120 --> 00:09:49.600
Night Ranger.
196
00:09:49.639 --> 00:09:50.600
Yeah, it's a long list.
197
00:09:51.399 --> 00:09:54.039
Actress Michelle Yeah was sixty four. She's born in Malaysia
198
00:09:54.039 --> 00:09:56.879
in nineteen sixty two. She started out as a martial
199
00:09:57.000 --> 00:09:59.480
artist movie star out there in Asia, first in the
200
00:09:59.519 --> 00:10:01.879
United States. It's in the James Bond movie Tomorrow Never
201
00:10:02.000 --> 00:10:06.440
Dies and Crouching Tire, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I think
202
00:10:06.480 --> 00:10:09.840
I got that right. Remains the Gisha, crazy rich Asian.
203
00:10:09.879 --> 00:10:12.320
She want to Oscar for everything, everywhere, all the time.
204
00:10:12.879 --> 00:10:15.919
She married her second husband in twenty twenty three. Now Michelle,
205
00:10:16.200 --> 00:10:18.639
she is the only actress that Jackie Chan ever let
206
00:10:18.679 --> 00:10:19.879
do her own stunts in any.
207
00:10:19.759 --> 00:10:20.360
Of his movies.
208
00:10:25.480 --> 00:10:26.519
It's Train.
209
00:10:41.000 --> 00:10:42.960
No, that was not the Weather Girls, it was a
210
00:10:43.000 --> 00:10:46.279
Spice Girl singing solo. Jerry Hollowell was fifty four. She's
211
00:10:46.320 --> 00:10:49.159
born on Walford, England, in nineteen seventy two. Jerry, She's
212
00:10:49.159 --> 00:10:51.960
best known as Ginger Spice. Maybe not the most popular,
213
00:10:52.000 --> 00:10:54.120
but still one of the Spice Girls. Now they've sold
214
00:10:54.120 --> 00:10:56.440
overrun a million records. That makes them the best selling
215
00:10:56.480 --> 00:10:59.320
all female group of all time, even though guys played
216
00:10:59.320 --> 00:11:01.879
all the instruments that spice girls. They made a good
217
00:11:02.000 --> 00:11:04.320
tribe and they show. Yeah, they're not coming back anymore.
218
00:11:04.360 --> 00:11:07.559
It looks like they're completely done now. As a solo artist, Jerry,
219
00:11:07.600 --> 00:11:09.960
she sold over fifty million records. None of her STEP's
220
00:11:09.960 --> 00:11:12.440
been released in the United States though. Now she had
221
00:11:12.480 --> 00:11:14.919
a daughter from a boyfriend. She got married in twenty
222
00:11:14.960 --> 00:11:15.840
fifteen and they have a.
223
00:11:15.799 --> 00:11:25.000
Son only day sign.
224
00:11:31.759 --> 00:11:32.159
Around.
225
00:11:38.159 --> 00:11:40.639
I'll be honest, I had no idea. The TV show
226
00:11:40.679 --> 00:11:43.360
Punky Brewster had a theme song. That girl who played
227
00:11:43.360 --> 00:11:47.279
Punky Brewster. She's fifty today, so Leo Moonfry. She was
228
00:11:47.279 --> 00:11:50.240
born in Glendora, California, in nineteen seventy six. She was
229
00:11:50.240 --> 00:11:52.720
eight when she started playing Punky. Now do you know
230
00:11:52.759 --> 00:11:56.039
what Punky Brewster's actual name was. It was Penelope. She's
231
00:11:56.039 --> 00:11:58.320
a Penelope Brewster now after Punky.
232
00:11:58.480 --> 00:11:59.080
Yeah, so Alio.
233
00:11:59.120 --> 00:12:02.120
She went on does Brina the Teenage Witch, which is
234
