ÜBER DIESE EPISODE
Get ready for a heartfelt and inspiring conversation! In this episode of The Guided by Imagination Podcast, host Jennie sits down with acclaimed actor and producer Joe Cortese for an intimate discussion about creativity, imagination, and the lifelong journey of being an artist.
Joe shares insights from his decades-long career in film, television, and theater, including his latest film Here’s Johnny, which he produced and stars in alongside Julia Ormond, Kevin Pollak, Sanna Arquette, Eric Roberts, and Colm Meaney. Based on a true story, the film follows a longtime neighborhood diner proprietor in Asbury Park, New Jersey, who lives with dementia and believes he is Johnny Carson.
Joe also talks about his powerful stage work in Death of a Salesman, performed live in Burbank and captured in a unique hybrid production that blends theater with cinematic storytelling.
Together, Jennie and Joe explore the role imagination plays in an artist’s life—and why creativity is not something you manufacture, but something you honor, develop, and protect.
Why Joe believes actors are born with imagination—and how training shapes that gift The importance of workshops, classes, and lifelong study How persistence, determination, and luck all play a role in success Joe’s journey from theater to film and what keeps him inspired why creativity and imagination are essential beyond acting and into everyday life
Joe offers grounded advice for anyone who feels creatively called but unsure how to move forward: study, commit, show up, and keep going.
