Damion Cox: Forged and Risen Gold Episode twenty one Putting Yourself in the Way of Opportunity Opportunity does not always knock on your door. Sometimes you have to leave the house and put yourself directly in its way. You have to go where opportunity is, meet people, start conversations, make the phone call, submit the application, launch the business, publish the book, post the video, walk into the room, raise your hand, take the chance. Too many people wait for opportunity to find them while they remain inside the same routines, circles, and comfort zones that created the life they are trying to change. You cannot keep standing in the same place and expect a different opportunity to discover you. At some point, you have to move. You have to put yourself in the way of possibility. That does not mean chasing everything that comes your way. It means creating more chances for opportunity to find you. If you never introduce yourself to anyone new, How many new relationships can you build? If you never apply, how many jobs can you get? If you never pitch, how many clients can you gain? If you never publish, how many people can discover your work? If you never start, what exactly are you expecting to happen? Sometimes we call it bad luck when the real problem is limited exposure. You may not be unlucky. You may simply not be putting yourself in enough places where opportunity can find you. That is a hard truth because it means you have responsibility. You cannot blame the world for not giving you an opportunity you never went looking for. You have to become willing to be seen. And being seen is uncomfortable. People may reject you, ignore you, tell you no, question what you are doing. They may not understand your vision, but none of that means you stop. A no is not always a dead end. Sometimes it is simply proof that you are willing to knock on a door. And if you keep knocking, you will You increase the chances that one eventually opens. That is what putting yourself in the way of opportunity means. It means increasing your exposure to possibility. You cannot control who notices you. You cannot control who says yes. You cannot control who rejects you. You cannot control exactly when your breakthrough happens. But you can control your exposure to possibility. You can put yourself in more rooms. You can meet more people, you can create more. You can ask more questions, you can take more shots. Every time you do, you increase your chances. Some people call that luck, but sometimes what looks like luck is simply preparation meeting exposure. And preparation matters. Putting yourself in the way of opportunity does not mean blindly chasing everything. It means becoming ready while you are searching. Build the skill, build the business, build your network, build your confidence, build your discipline. Build your reputation, become the person who can actually handle the opportunity when it arrives. Because there's nothing worse than finally getting the opportunity you prayed for and realizing you are not prepared to carry it. So do not just ask for the door to open. Prepare yourself to walk through it and understand something else. Opportunity does not always look like opportunity. Sometimes it looks like inconvenience, it looks like extra work. It looks like an uncomfortable conversation. It looks like meeting someone you almost decided not to meet. It looks like an application you almost decided not to submit. It looks like starting something when you have no guarantee anyone will care. It looks like rejection. It looks like uncertainty. And because it does not look comfortable, you may walk right past it. But what if that uncomfortable step is exactly what changes your life? What if the conversation you were nervous to have lead somewhere? What if the person you introduce yourself to knows someone who needs exactly what you offer? What if the application you almost ignored becomes the beginning of a completely different chapter? What if the business you finally launch becomes the thing that changes your family's future? You will never know if you never step into the possibility. That is the price of standing still. Ask yourself, where do I need to go to get closer to opportunity? Do not wait for your life to change. Move toward possibility. This is Forged and Risen Gold.
