00:00:06.719 --> 00:00:22.000
Welcome to this week's episode of Fields Notes, where we take a deeper dive into sermon text, discuss matters of life and faith, and enjoy conversations around the table with fellow friends from the Fields.
00:00:25.760 --> 00:00:28.559
Well, hey, hello, and welcome back to Fields Notes.
00:00:28.640 --> 00:00:31.440
It's been a uh, as the kids say, a minute.
00:00:31.519 --> 00:00:33.840
It's been a little while since we recorded a Field Notes podcast.
00:00:34.320 --> 00:00:35.039
Is that what the kids say?
00:00:35.200 --> 00:00:36.799
Honestly, it's probably not even cool anymore.
00:00:36.880 --> 00:00:37.280
I don't know.
00:00:38.240 --> 00:00:41.520
It's like I feel like sometimes I feel like I still say it's been a minute since that was cool.
00:00:41.920 --> 00:00:42.159
You're right.
00:00:42.960 --> 00:00:44.079
Uh we might need to restart this.
00:00:44.159 --> 00:00:44.399
I don't know.
00:00:44.560 --> 00:00:46.479
It's been a while since we started recording podcasts.
00:00:46.640 --> 00:00:53.119
Uh we kind of had a we started a summer series on our Fields Notes interviewing people of our staff mainly, getting to know us.
00:00:53.280 --> 00:00:56.240
We kind of took a somewhat summer break due to logistics.
00:00:56.399 --> 00:00:58.799
Also, we kind of plan to take a summer break in some ways too.
00:00:58.960 --> 00:00:59.039
Yeah.
00:00:59.200 --> 00:01:04.000
We're wrapping up the summer podcast series, doing another interview.
00:01:04.239 --> 00:01:11.120
If it were up to me, we probably would only be interviewing Braden, but through some subtle nudges from Jeff, perhaps.
00:01:11.200 --> 00:01:11.519
I don't know.
00:01:11.599 --> 00:01:12.799
I'm being interviewed as well.
00:01:12.879 --> 00:01:17.040
We're gonna get to know Braden and I a little bit because we're tons of fun, right, Braden?
00:01:17.439 --> 00:01:17.760
Absolutely.
00:01:18.000 --> 00:01:19.200
We're fun people to know.
00:01:19.439 --> 00:01:20.959
Um, I don't know if that's true or not.
00:01:21.120 --> 00:01:21.519
We're pretty fun.
00:01:21.760 --> 00:01:22.239
Braden's fun.
00:01:22.400 --> 00:01:22.719
Yeah, yeah.
00:01:22.799 --> 00:01:24.079
We're um tons of fun.
00:01:24.400 --> 00:01:29.599
We do think it's valuable though that, especially people working for our church, that our church would know us um to a certain degree.
00:01:29.680 --> 00:01:32.079
This is maybe a helpful platform to do that.
00:01:32.159 --> 00:01:34.159
And so that's why we're doing these podcasts.
00:01:34.239 --> 00:01:35.920
So I think Jeff is gonna be is this right, Jeff?
00:01:36.159 --> 00:01:37.680
Jeff's gonna be asking some questions here.
00:01:37.840 --> 00:01:39.040
He might even have some questions.
00:01:39.120 --> 00:01:41.040
We don't know, we don't know what he's gonna ask in some ways.
00:01:41.200 --> 00:01:43.359
We know part, we know some general things he's gonna ask.
00:01:43.439 --> 00:01:46.239
Um, but our hope for you guys we always have the script.
00:01:46.400 --> 00:01:47.439
Yeah, you think you do.
00:01:47.599 --> 00:01:53.680
Our hope is that this would be a uh a fun podcast where you guys get to know about Braden, Braden Pape and I.
00:01:54.159 --> 00:01:55.120
This is Joe House speaking.
00:01:55.599 --> 00:01:56.159
You guys get to know us.
00:01:56.400 --> 00:01:56.879
Joe House.
00:01:56.959 --> 00:01:57.439
Everybody knows.
00:01:57.920 --> 00:02:00.400
Apparently, we sound somewhat similar on this podcast.
00:02:00.640 --> 00:02:04.640
If you don't know us super well, every time before we answer, we'll just have to say our first and last name.
00:02:04.799 --> 00:02:06.079
Yes, maybe even middle.
00:02:06.400 --> 00:02:08.000
Pape, comma Braden speaking.
00:02:08.159 --> 00:02:08.560
There you go.
00:02:08.719 --> 00:02:12.560
You guys do guys, I'm excited, and and I'm excited for a lot of reasons.
00:02:12.719 --> 00:02:17.120
But one, because I yeah, I do have the privilege of working with you guys and serving with you guys.
00:02:17.280 --> 00:02:19.840
And yeah, it's it's we have a lot of fun.
00:02:20.080 --> 00:02:25.840
And um, it's it really is one of the great joys in ministry is getting to serve alongside both of you.
00:02:26.000 --> 00:02:30.400
Uh, so I'm excited to hear your answers to these questions, to get to just enjoy that together.
00:02:30.560 --> 00:02:31.840
So let's start.
00:02:32.080 --> 00:02:33.280
Probably most basic.
00:02:33.439 --> 00:02:39.759
Hey, talk to us a little bit about where you're from, high school, college, family.
00:02:39.919 --> 00:02:46.080
Like just give us that kind of brief bio before we get into your kind of spiritual bio, if you will.
00:02:46.400 --> 00:02:47.840
Braden, we'll we'll kick it off with you.
00:02:48.080 --> 00:02:49.039
Sounds great.
00:02:49.280 --> 00:02:56.240
Uh yeah, I am originally from Wisconsin, uh which everybody knows if you're if you know me.
00:02:56.319 --> 00:02:56.719
You're gonna be.
00:03:01.199 --> 00:03:01.680
It's a good place.
00:03:02.000 --> 00:03:03.599
You never had any cheese curds before.
00:03:03.759 --> 00:03:04.159
That's right.
00:03:04.240 --> 00:03:05.840
And Culver's uh especially.
00:03:05.919 --> 00:03:07.759
So those are important things in my life.
00:03:07.840 --> 00:03:12.879
Yeah, from Wisconsin, very southeastern, like Delavan, Lake Geneva, if you know those areas.
00:03:13.120 --> 00:03:14.159
Um, yep.
00:03:14.479 --> 00:03:17.360
I then uh grew up there my whole life.
00:03:17.439 --> 00:03:23.360
I have uh wonderful mom and dad, Craig and Deb, and I have three younger sisters, uh, and they're awesome.
00:03:23.439 --> 00:03:25.360
And then I have a great wife.
00:03:25.520 --> 00:03:27.360
Her name is Abby, you'll see her around.
00:03:27.439 --> 00:03:29.280
And we have two kids, Brooklyn and Jonah.
00:03:29.439 --> 00:03:39.199
And uh we Abby and I met at school at Cedarville University, and so we were in Ohio for a few years, and then we have moved out to Indiana for since college, really.
00:03:39.280 --> 00:03:44.319
We've been in Indiana in Crawfordsville first, and then now here at the fields in Westfield.
00:03:45.039 --> 00:03:45.680
So well done.
00:03:45.759 --> 00:03:48.240
Joe, that's a that's a high bar for you to follow up.
00:03:48.400 --> 00:03:50.400
Yeah, I have to like think about where have I been?
00:03:50.479 --> 00:03:51.840
Where did I go to school?
00:03:52.000 --> 00:03:53.680
And who is in my family?
00:03:53.919 --> 00:03:54.960
Joe, take it away.
00:03:55.360 --> 00:03:55.840
Well, I'm Joe.
00:03:55.919 --> 00:03:58.719
I'm from so I'm from Lafayette, Indiana, not too far away.
00:03:58.800 --> 00:04:00.080
Not West Lafayette.
00:04:00.159 --> 00:04:01.199
I'm from the real Lafayette.
00:04:01.439 --> 00:04:01.680
There you go.
00:04:02.240 --> 00:04:02.560
There you go.
00:04:02.960 --> 00:04:06.639
Um, I went to, if you know the Lafayette High School, so I went to Lafayette Jeff.
00:04:06.800 --> 00:04:10.400
Um, the mascot is the Broncos, but it's actually not spelled correctly.
00:04:10.479 --> 00:04:11.840
That's a little fun fact about Jeff.
00:04:11.919 --> 00:04:12.639
Do you know that, Braden?
00:04:12.879 --> 00:04:13.520
No, how's it spelled?
00:04:13.599 --> 00:04:18.160
Like Broncos normally spelled uh B-R-O-N-C-C-O-S.
00:04:18.800 --> 00:04:20.079
R has an H in it.
00:04:20.560 --> 00:04:22.160
The joke is that Branchos.
00:04:22.319 --> 00:04:22.800
Yeah, who knows?
00:04:23.040 --> 00:04:24.639
Where it after the C?
00:04:24.800 --> 00:04:24.959
Yeah.
00:04:25.279 --> 00:04:25.360
Yeah.
00:04:25.519 --> 00:04:25.680
What?
00:04:27.040 --> 00:04:28.959
The H stands for heart, is what we say.
00:04:29.040 --> 00:04:29.519
I don't know.
00:04:30.079 --> 00:04:31.759
Anyways, that's another story from our day.
00:04:31.920 --> 00:04:32.720
Went to Jeff.
00:04:32.879 --> 00:04:35.920
Um yeah, from Lafayette, I'm the baby of my family.
00:04:36.000 --> 00:04:36.959
I'm the youngest of four.
00:04:37.199 --> 00:04:39.279
Babies of the families are always the best, is what they say.
00:04:39.519 --> 00:04:40.639
I don't know if that's true or not.
00:04:40.959 --> 00:04:42.399
Um yeah, love my family.
00:04:42.560 --> 00:04:43.279
So grateful for them.
00:04:43.439 --> 00:04:44.800
Uh yeah, so grouping Lafayette.
00:04:44.879 --> 00:04:48.800
I went to Wabash College, the all-male school in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
00:04:48.879 --> 00:04:50.800
A lot of Crawfordsville connections in our church.
00:04:50.959 --> 00:04:51.360
That's right.
00:04:51.759 --> 00:04:55.680
Um, yeah, thankful for my education there.
00:04:55.839 --> 00:04:57.279
Um, what are whatever questions?
00:04:57.600 --> 00:04:58.399
I see Brayden did better.
00:04:58.639 --> 00:04:59.360
You have more family.
00:04:59.600 --> 00:05:00.000
More family.
00:05:00.720 --> 00:05:03.360
Now you have you have your own immediate family.
00:05:03.519 --> 00:05:04.319
I do have my own family.
00:05:04.639 --> 00:05:07.120
So I'm married to my lovely, wonderful wife, Callie.
00:05:07.199 --> 00:05:09.519
Um we've actually been interviewed this summer on the podcast.
00:05:09.759 --> 00:05:10.160
Callie has.
00:05:10.240 --> 00:05:12.319
People probably know Cali better than me in a lot of ways.
00:05:12.480 --> 00:05:14.240
Uh I'm yeah, I'm Callie's husband.
00:05:15.199 --> 00:05:15.360
Yeah.
00:05:16.000 --> 00:05:17.199
You're getting to be Luke's dad.
00:05:17.439 --> 00:05:17.920
I'm yeah.
00:05:18.079 --> 00:05:20.000
That's how I know the kid with the white hair.
00:05:20.399 --> 00:05:22.240
Um we have our son Luke.
00:05:22.399 --> 00:05:28.560
We love him very much, and uh, we're expecting uh Laney, our daughter, to be born here soon.
00:05:29.040 --> 00:05:30.639
Um, so we're very grateful.
00:05:30.720 --> 00:05:32.399
We've been married for just over five years.
00:05:32.639 --> 00:05:40.720
We um yeah, we have been with the fields in a sense from almost basically the start of uh the idea of the fields church.
00:05:40.800 --> 00:05:46.079
But we um yeah, I lived in Indianapolis for a couple years um before or after graduating college, before here.
00:05:46.160 --> 00:05:46.959
I've been a teacher.
00:05:47.120 --> 00:05:48.480
I think most people know that in our church.
00:05:48.560 --> 00:05:56.399
I taught math for five years before uh working for our church, but a couple years in Indianapolis, middle school math, three years at Westfield High School, teaching Algebra one.
00:05:56.800 --> 00:05:57.839
What a joy.
00:05:58.160 --> 00:05:59.600
Favorite, favorite math class.
00:05:59.839 --> 00:06:05.279
I did make our I recently I made our FSM students do some math problems at our last uh summer event.
00:06:05.360 --> 00:06:08.800
It was Carson's still a little upset about the math on drugs.
00:06:09.040 --> 00:06:15.120
Yeah, he's still mainly I think because he missed it, because it's actually in a movie that we watch a little big league, and he's still a little frustrated.
00:06:15.439 --> 00:06:16.240
Such a fun math problem.
00:06:16.399 --> 00:06:17.839
Yeah, yeah, those are some general things.
00:06:18.720 --> 00:06:20.000
Uh let's talk to both of you guys.
00:06:20.160 --> 00:06:20.800
Great job.
00:06:20.879 --> 00:06:22.560
Uh how did you become a Christian?
00:06:22.720 --> 00:06:24.079
Like what talk to us a little bit.
00:06:24.160 --> 00:06:30.560
And obviously, you've already given us a story, so you don't need to re-give us your entire life, but uh just particularly how the Lord saved you.
00:06:31.439 --> 00:06:32.399
Yeah, I can go first.
00:06:32.639 --> 00:06:33.199
You can, Braden.
00:06:33.360 --> 00:06:33.600
You got it.
00:06:33.839 --> 00:06:34.480
This is Braden.
00:06:34.800 --> 00:06:36.800
Uh just to be clear.
00:06:36.959 --> 00:06:38.959
Uh yeah, I um thankful.
00:06:39.279 --> 00:06:51.600
Grew up in a Christian home, Christian family, was taught about Christ at a very young age and really believe the Lord saved me uh at a at a young age of like six, uh, through some sort of church ministry like a wana.
00:06:51.759 --> 00:06:51.920
Yeah.
00:06:52.000 --> 00:06:52.959
Uh thankful for that.
00:06:53.120 --> 00:07:09.680
And um, and then talked to my mom about those things and saw the Lord just grow a desire for him uh young, uh really in middle school, even that took off a lot, and uh started reading my Bible and doing things that I would not normally uh think a middle school would do as I look back and just see the Lord working in that way.
00:07:10.160 --> 00:07:25.839
Big probably like uh way the Lord worked in my life was certainly through struggling with sexual sin and pornography in uh high school, uh going to a public school and definitely at that point in time thinking through what does it mean to be a Christian and struggle with sin and trying to understand like how do I struggle with sin?
00:07:25.920 --> 00:07:33.680
And and a lot of my understanding was very much like I should I should hide this because I need to be good and I and I want to not do this, I don't want to sin in this way.
00:07:34.079 --> 00:07:38.319
Uh, but I didn't know what to do with it except for try to work harder to get rid of it.
00:07:38.560 --> 00:07:50.319
And so uh eventually after kind of in some ways coming to a little bit of an end of myself, the Lord just reminded me of Romans 5.8, which is God demonstrates his own love for us in this, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
00:07:50.639 --> 00:08:03.279
And uh that was just like a new wave of the gospel hitting my life and just seeing man, that that even in my sin is is not when I'm good, is when Christ loves me and gave himself for me.
00:08:03.360 --> 00:08:09.680
But even while knowing all of my sin and the depths of it and all those things, that that that's when Christ loved and gave himself for me.
00:08:09.759 --> 00:08:22.160
And so uh for me that was uh really just helpful in in even just beginning a journey of having God's grace really change me and transform me uh instead of my own efforts and just trying to work harder, uh, which didn't work.
00:08:22.399 --> 00:08:22.560
Yeah.
00:08:22.720 --> 00:08:38.080
And uh and so super thankful for uh that then season in my life into college, um, getting getting accountability around me, growing in the gospel and and understanding more deeply what it means to be in Christ and and how that changes and shapes us and transforms our lives.
00:08:38.240 --> 00:08:55.440
And so uh that that's really a lot of how the Lord saved me and then what what he then even used a lot of those uh trials to then even uh give me a passion for ministry and helping people to understand that gospel that we can very easily hear and then and then figure out what what does that mean for my life?
00:08:55.519 --> 00:09:10.480
And and so those things really played into even just a desire to help people uh with that gospel and think about man, what does this mean for me to walk in Christ and people who go to church and hear these things, but then how does that live when I when I sin or when I struggle or in the real things of life?
00:09:10.559 --> 00:09:14.399
And and so that was really uh kind of those two things kind of going together uh for me in my life.
00:09:14.559 --> 00:09:20.080
Super thankful for God's grace and his kindness to continue to me, uh to lead me to repentance and walk with me.
00:09:20.159 --> 00:09:23.120
So uh yeah, thankful for God's grace and saving me.
00:09:23.440 --> 00:09:24.320
Yeah, that's awesome, brother.
00:09:24.559 --> 00:09:24.960
Praise the Lord.
00:09:25.039 --> 00:09:25.840
Thanks for sharing, Braden.
00:09:26.320 --> 00:09:27.519
Yeah, I'll I'll share too.
00:09:27.600 --> 00:09:29.039
You know, you can it's always tough to share your test.
00:09:29.440 --> 00:09:33.600
You can like I have the three-hour version, I have the one-minute version somewhere between maybe that.
00:09:33.679 --> 00:09:36.879
But uh uh I really became a Christian after I graduated college.
00:09:37.039 --> 00:09:40.720
So later that a lot of um more a lot of people have been saved young at young age.
00:09:40.799 --> 00:09:45.120
I've um yeah, became a Christian uh really in 2020 in the COVID season.
00:09:45.200 --> 00:09:47.440
But I can just like some details lead up to that.
00:09:47.600 --> 00:10:00.960
Um yeah, at a young age, we actually my family did not go to church, but we uh started going to church when I was in middle school and we faithfully attended and um I liked church, but I think I was um wasn't a um priority perhaps for me.
00:10:01.039 --> 00:10:07.600
I was like, oh I'm just a uh kind of a good kid, don't get in trouble that much, get good grades, play sports, do like that.
00:10:07.679 --> 00:10:13.919
And oh, going to church is a good thing too, and that um kind of would have somewhat been my high school in a in a sense.
00:10:14.320 --> 00:10:17.440
But you definitely weren't Joe, like a you weren't like an atheist per se.
00:10:17.679 --> 00:10:25.759
Like you wouldn't have like you would have probably had some yeah, god's there's a God and Jesus, like you would have thought yourself a Christian at some level.
00:10:26.000 --> 00:10:27.200
I I think I would have, yeah.
00:10:27.360 --> 00:10:31.120
And then, but just not a priority in my life of that of like uh but that's not that important.
00:10:31.200 --> 00:10:33.840
Kind of like I we wouldn't have just wouldn't have thought about it.
00:10:33.919 --> 00:10:38.799
I probably wouldn't have said that maybe, but um yeah, probably in priority in my life.
00:10:38.879 --> 00:10:49.360
Um yeah, and uh I'll get to maybe more, but like wouldn't have understood the gospel in when I was in high school of like well, kind of there's grace involved, but also I should probably be good, like yeah.
00:10:49.919 --> 00:10:54.480
Um yeah, um I lived a uh a pretty worldly college life the whole time.
00:10:54.559 --> 00:11:04.720
Maybe would have thought I was a um a Christian, but um looking back, really would not have lived a godly college life um in many ways.
00:11:04.799 --> 00:11:08.960
Um would have sporadically gone to churches, but really wasn't plugged into a church body.
00:11:09.039 --> 00:11:14.080
Um sporadically would have read my Bible, but um not some would have uh yeah.
00:11:14.320 --> 00:11:32.879
Um in a lot of ways, yeah, in some way uh like I would try this often of lived a half in life that really is a not in life that I was trying to have the world and Jesus in a sense of like I think I need to kind of be good in this, um, and really just not living it.
00:11:32.960 --> 00:11:37.360
Um uh throughout my life, like uh the Lord really has put such great examples in my life.
00:11:37.440 --> 00:11:46.639
So a couple people in college um who really were Christians, who stood out as Christians to me, that I was like, there's something about them that I like, but I I don't quite know in that.
00:11:46.720 --> 00:11:54.399
And even a um a good friend who I'm still in touch with who I grew uh after I graduated college, and I was like, at the time, I was like, oh man, this guy's like a big time mega.
00:11:54.720 --> 00:11:55.759
I'm just like a normal Christian.
00:11:55.840 --> 00:11:57.200
He's like a big time mega Christian.
00:11:57.279 --> 00:11:59.279
In reality, I just wasn't, and he was.
00:11:59.360 --> 00:12:00.559
It's really the reality of that.
00:12:00.639 --> 00:12:02.720
And um, but the Lord used him in so many ways.
00:12:02.960 --> 00:12:06.159
Um, really, I was even in this um, yeah, I think I'm gonna show this too.
00:12:06.240 --> 00:12:09.279
I was even this kind of in this half-end season, even when I met Callie in some ways.
00:12:09.360 --> 00:12:24.879
And I don't even think I was trying to fake my Christianity with her, but I think in some ways, like, oh, it's kind of just, you know, I just had a um, I'm not explaining this very well in this, but uh I think a lot of people though, like I I know it's a tough thing to explain, but I feel like a lot of people just resonate with that.
00:12:25.039 --> 00:12:28.559
Like I'm I imagine a lot of people are like, yeah, we know what you mean, man.
00:12:28.639 --> 00:12:42.639
Like we get this sort of like, yeah, you know, Christianity, like I, but not once you're when you probably were safe, like you could just go, oh whatever it was before, that wasn't it.
00:12:43.120 --> 00:12:44.399
Like I wasn't a Christian then.
00:12:44.480 --> 00:12:46.480
I don't know what that was, but I know now.
00:12:46.639 --> 00:12:47.440
Yeah, right?
00:12:47.600 --> 00:12:48.080
Yep, yeah.
00:12:48.240 --> 00:12:48.799
In many ways.
00:12:48.960 --> 00:12:50.639
Um, but uh yeah, uh so kind.
00:12:50.960 --> 00:12:55.120
I started dating in um not that long after that with the COVID shutdown happened.
00:12:55.200 --> 00:13:01.200
Um, and the the Lord really used that season in big ways in my life that I had an abundance of time to be in God's word.
00:13:01.600 --> 00:13:03.360
Um, I was around other Christians.
00:13:03.440 --> 00:13:07.519
Um, so a lot of that time I uh spent at Callie's parents' basement and they let me stay with them.
00:13:07.600 --> 00:13:12.879
Um, but then um attending in whatever way we could, Rock Point Church, a really solid gospel preaching church.
00:13:13.120 --> 00:13:18.399
Um uh Callie's dad has the little Greg Gilbert's book, What is the gospel?
00:13:18.480 --> 00:13:25.600
Um, around other people, like uh understanding, oh my goodness, I actually am a sinner and I need I I don't just need to get a little bit better at what it means to be a Christian.
00:13:25.759 --> 00:13:31.039
I actually need Jesus to take my sin, to pay the penalty for my sin, and that and that's what he's done for me on the cross.
00:13:31.120 --> 00:13:43.360
Like that I would have maybe known bits and pieces of I couldn't probably piece together in that the idea of like repentance, of turning over my sin, turning to Christ, trusting in him, resting in him would have been just vague things in my life.
00:13:43.519 --> 00:13:52.720
Um, and I think even too, just uh idols in my heart getting pulled up and uh recognizing so and I don't know exactly it sometime in this COVID season, I I do think I became a Christian.
00:13:52.879 --> 00:14:03.759
Honestly, just so Jeff I we talked about the sum, but Jeff preached a sermon at Rock Point of how we wrongly build our lives on things that are actually uh are not capable of carrying our burdens, and we actually are crushing those things.
00:14:03.840 --> 00:14:19.519
We keep on putting weight onto most of the time a relationship or maybe kids or maybe a job or some sort of false God that we're putting such weights, burdens that we expect them to be our whole source of joy, our whole source of life, and we're crushing this person or this thing.
00:14:19.679 --> 00:14:24.159
And I'm uh and I'm sitting there, I'm like, man, I'm kind of building my life on Cali in a sense.
00:14:24.240 --> 00:14:33.919
And and and and your but your call was, well, we need to build our lives on Jesus, that he actually is the one who's who's gonna carry our burdens, and he actually is strong enough to do so.
00:14:34.080 --> 00:14:37.919
Um, somehow in in that season, I think the Lord saved me.
00:14:38.000 --> 00:14:40.879
And I um realized, oh, I actually I need Jesus.
00:14:41.039 --> 00:14:43.279
And um uh, you know, always messy.
00:14:43.360 --> 00:14:46.720
I think I wouldn't have told you that I wouldn't have told you, oh, I became a Christian then.
00:14:46.799 --> 00:14:58.639
Yeah, it was then months l-month later that I was like, wait a minute, I wasn't a Christian before, and now I am, and that it took some time to discern and even an excitement about ministry I had in that season.
00:14:58.720 --> 00:15:01.919
I think in some ways I just became a Christian is what it really was.
00:15:02.000 --> 00:15:05.120
I was like, oh, I'm excited, and um uh thankful to get to serve now.
00:15:05.279 --> 00:15:08.960
Oh, I'm gonna listen back to this and be like, I'd probably explain this poorly in ways.
00:15:09.679 --> 00:15:10.080
Yeah.
00:15:10.320 --> 00:15:16.480
So and as someone who got to walk with you through a decent amount of that, just super encouraged to see that too.
00:15:16.559 --> 00:15:20.159
And I think a lot of us could say, you know, man, yeah, yeah, we see what the world is.
00:15:20.320 --> 00:15:24.399
I remember I was sitting at a picnic table with you and Doug King, yeah, and uh we were talking about baptism.
00:15:24.480 --> 00:15:30.559
And we're talking about like, oh yeah, like when you you become like we are Baptist church, we when you get saved, then you get baptized.
00:15:30.639 --> 00:15:33.919
And I was like, wait a minute, I probably need to get baptized.
00:15:35.120 --> 00:15:38.639
I got baptized at Castleview then and um super thankful for that.
00:15:38.720 --> 00:15:39.919
And it's really sweet.
00:15:40.080 --> 00:15:41.120
Yeah, it's awesome, man.
00:15:41.519 --> 00:15:44.639
Uh, what do you guys do here at the Fields Church?
00:15:44.960 --> 00:15:45.679
Brayden.
00:15:46.639 --> 00:15:47.840
Uh a lot of things.
00:15:48.000 --> 00:15:50.639
Uh anything that Jeff asked me to do.
00:15:51.840 --> 00:15:53.919
That's why I often say whatever Jeff needs me to do.
00:15:54.080 --> 00:15:54.320
Uh yeah.
00:15:54.559 --> 00:16:01.840
I I'm the associate pastor, which means that I primarily give oversight in areas such as discipleship.
00:16:01.919 --> 00:16:06.799
So, like our growth groups, um, our classes, um, also missions.
00:16:06.960 --> 00:16:07.279
Yep.
00:16:07.519 --> 00:16:25.600
And then I preach typically the next most after Jeff, um, get the opportunity to do that, and then have a lot of opportunities to just uh meet with and spend time with members, um, incoming members, doing membership interviews, things like that, and then also obviously uh getting to know and spend time with our members and shepherd them.
00:16:25.679 --> 00:16:28.240
So all sorts of other things, but those are the main areas.
00:16:28.320 --> 00:16:28.960
Yeah, yeah.
00:16:29.120 --> 00:16:33.039
Uh Braden real, I mean, is the we just have two staff pastors.
00:16:33.120 --> 00:16:38.000
We have two lay elders, lay pastors, but two guys on staff, uh Braden and I.
00:16:38.080 --> 00:16:40.320
And so, yeah, in some ways, it is true.
00:16:40.480 --> 00:16:42.879
Whatever I don't do, you do, whatever you don't do, I do.
00:16:42.960 --> 00:16:44.639
You know, we do together, those things like that.
00:16:44.720 --> 00:16:45.200
So yeah.
00:16:45.360 --> 00:16:49.360
And then there's Joe, who also does a lot of things in a similar vein.
00:16:49.759 --> 00:16:50.320
What do I do?
00:16:50.399 --> 00:16:50.799
Yep, yeah.
00:16:50.960 --> 00:16:52.559
Well, my title's pastoral assistant.
00:16:52.639 --> 00:16:56.320
I think that means a lot of different things at a lot of different churches use that title.
00:16:56.559 --> 00:16:57.519
Um, I don't know.
00:16:57.600 --> 00:17:01.679
I often like follow that up with a pastor training role of sorts, yep.
00:17:01.759 --> 00:17:03.440
Um, while also doing things too.
00:17:03.519 --> 00:17:08.880
But I'm uh uh, I mean, technically a full-time seminary student too at Indianapolis Theological Seminary.
00:17:09.119 --> 00:17:11.599
Lord willing, I'll be done at the end of January.
00:17:11.839 --> 00:17:12.240
Who knows?
00:17:12.640 --> 00:17:13.839
Celebrations that will come.
00:17:14.160 --> 00:17:15.839
A big smile as you say that.
00:17:16.640 --> 00:17:19.279
Um so thankful to get to go to school there, though.
00:17:19.519 --> 00:17:21.359
Um, it's been a huge blessing for me.
00:17:21.440 --> 00:17:24.480
Um, and also hard, but like that's how a lot of life is a lot of times.
00:17:24.640 --> 00:17:24.799
Yeah.
00:17:24.960 --> 00:17:26.400
Um, and then yeah, main area.
00:17:26.480 --> 00:17:31.920
I think people know I mainly serve in leading student ministry, um, young adult ministry.
00:17:32.079 --> 00:17:34.319
Um I think those are maybe more formal ways.
00:17:34.480 --> 00:17:36.960
Service leading, everyone's while getting to preach.
00:17:39.440 --> 00:17:45.519
Other just I don't know, then there's just a lot of random things that come up, sending sort of emails, organize a couple things.
00:17:45.759 --> 00:17:46.880
There's always just little things.
00:17:47.039 --> 00:17:48.880
That's just kind of all sorts of jobs in that.
00:17:48.960 --> 00:17:51.039
But uh, and then I think in a sense, learning too.
00:17:51.119 --> 00:17:52.319
I sit in the elders' meetings.
00:17:52.400 --> 00:17:54.160
Yeah, sometimes you guys let me talk though, too.
00:17:54.240 --> 00:17:55.039
I'm thankful to get to talk.
00:17:55.119 --> 00:17:56.160
I'm probably not supposed to talk.
00:17:56.240 --> 00:18:00.880
I don't know, but I get to talk sometimes, but very happy for you and to share your wisdom.
00:18:01.759 --> 00:18:02.880
Yeah, that's kind of my job.
00:18:03.039 --> 00:18:07.359
I do feel like we have a staff, a little bit of the everybody does a little bit of everything, you know, in some ways too.
00:18:07.440 --> 00:18:15.359
Like we all have kind of major roles, but but have kind of specific things that we do, or just you know, everybody kind of jumps in and shares with.
00:18:15.440 --> 00:18:16.960
So um, guys, that's great.
00:18:17.039 --> 00:18:19.920
I mean, we and I our church is so thankful to have both of you guys serving.
00:18:20.079 --> 00:18:26.960
I particularly, as you know, because in some sense, I mean, Joe's been here from the beginning, but wasn't on staff with us until after a year.
00:18:27.119 --> 00:18:27.680
Um, obviously.
00:18:27.920 --> 00:18:28.240
Two years.
00:18:28.400 --> 00:18:28.720
Two years.
00:18:28.799 --> 00:18:29.599
Was it two full years?
00:18:29.680 --> 00:18:29.839
Yeah.
00:18:29.920 --> 00:18:32.319
And then Braden has just been on staff for a year.
00:18:32.480 --> 00:18:38.799
Um, and so it's one of those where you're like, oh man, like it's like honestly, it's hard for me to remember what it was like before you guys.
00:18:38.880 --> 00:18:43.119
Um, the Lord's just been so kind, both you and the rest of our staff, who's amazing as well.
00:18:43.440 --> 00:18:44.559
It's time to have some fun.
00:18:44.720 --> 00:18:46.880
Not that the rest of the the previous wasn't fun.
00:18:47.039 --> 00:18:49.039
Now we get to just ask more fun, more.
00:18:49.359 --> 00:18:50.559
You're more excited about these questions.
00:18:50.880 --> 00:18:51.279
No, no, no.
00:18:51.279 --> 00:18:52.000
I was really excited about those.
00:18:52.400 --> 00:18:53.599
I knew the previous ones.
00:18:53.839 --> 00:18:56.319
These is where I start to get out of my knowledge a little bit.
00:18:56.480 --> 00:19:01.440
So uh if we show up at a coffee shop, what what are you guys getting?
00:19:02.000 --> 00:19:04.160
I'm I'm for sure getting a pour over.
00:19:04.240 --> 00:19:04.480
Okay.
00:19:05.039 --> 00:19:06.240
Most likely Ethiopian.
00:19:06.480 --> 00:19:06.799
Okay.
00:19:07.039 --> 00:19:08.880
But yeah, definitely pour over.
00:19:09.200 --> 00:19:12.240
Ethiopian would be the region where the coffee is registered.
00:19:12.559 --> 00:19:14.000
Just for people that maybe aren't that fancy.
00:19:14.240 --> 00:19:15.119
I have no idea what I'm talking about.
00:19:15.279 --> 00:19:18.400
Because Joe, would you have known with an Ethiopian coffee?
00:19:18.640 --> 00:19:20.400
I mean, I know that coffee comes from a lot of places.
00:19:21.039 --> 00:19:22.160
I know where Ethiopia is.
00:19:23.119 --> 00:19:23.920
I can put it together.
00:19:24.160 --> 00:19:25.519
I'm not surprised to hear that.
00:19:26.000 --> 00:19:27.200
It doesn't matter to me as much.
00:19:27.440 --> 00:19:31.119
Do you have a we know that you're not the uh the coffee snob by any means.
00:19:31.279 --> 00:19:31.839
I'm not the coffee shop.
00:19:32.079 --> 00:19:33.519
Do you have a coffee shop order?
00:19:33.759 --> 00:19:37.920
Um, you know, um a lot of times, especially if I'm just meeting someone, almost always I'll get a black coffee.
00:19:38.240 --> 00:19:40.240
But that's just because I I like black coffee, it's good.
00:19:40.319 --> 00:19:43.359
But I will also get like a uh a hot vanilla latte.
00:19:43.440 --> 00:19:44.160
I like a lot.
00:19:44.319 --> 00:19:46.640
Um mocha's are good too.
00:19:46.720 --> 00:19:48.079
But I just don't get those as often.
00:19:48.160 --> 00:19:51.119
Yeah, those kind of like, oh, for celebrating, I'll get a vanilla latte.
00:19:51.519 --> 00:19:54.079
We're on vacation, we're getting vanilla lattes, something like that.
00:19:54.319 --> 00:19:59.200
Well, if we're going to a coffee shop, which coffee shop are you going if you've got a choice?
00:19:59.279 --> 00:20:03.680
And what's put, I give you one that is like we all could go to.
00:20:03.839 --> 00:20:08.799
And then if there's one that you're like, this coffee shop in this location is like the best thing I've ever been to.
00:20:08.880 --> 00:20:09.839
Maybe that's locally.
00:20:10.079 --> 00:20:12.799
But yeah, tell us if you got a favorite local coffee shop.
00:20:12.880 --> 00:20:19.839
But if you also have one that we need to visit outside uh this Indiana region, that that's that's fair game too.
00:20:20.160 --> 00:20:21.279
I want Braden to go first.
00:20:21.440 --> 00:20:22.240
Yeah, it sounds good.
00:20:22.480 --> 00:20:24.480
In this region, I would go indie coffee roasters.
00:20:24.640 --> 00:20:25.599
Okay, probably north end.
00:20:25.759 --> 00:20:27.359
I really like the north end location a lot.
00:20:27.440 --> 00:20:30.799
I like a lot of seating, just a nice, nice spot, super fun.
00:20:30.960 --> 00:20:32.319
So I like meeting people there.
00:20:32.480 --> 00:20:32.799
It's great.
00:20:33.039 --> 00:20:33.440
Awesome.
00:20:33.680 --> 00:20:43.680
Um probably further out, I can't that I can't think of a ton of other ones, but one of my favorites that uh my friend uh nickname that I always just call him is Gags.
00:20:44.160 --> 00:20:50.640
Uh and uh me and him became regulars at this coffee shop called Ghost Like Coffee in near Dayton, Ohio.
00:20:50.880 --> 00:20:54.799
We're in college at college and super great coffee shop, really good coffee.
00:20:54.960 --> 00:20:56.240
So if you're ever around there, okay.
00:20:56.400 --> 00:20:58.160
Better than indie coffee roasters?
00:20:58.400 --> 00:21:00.400
It's been so long that I don't know, but it's probably close.
00:21:00.480 --> 00:21:01.119
It's at that safe.
00:21:01.920 --> 00:21:02.079
Okay.
00:21:02.640 --> 00:21:03.200
Joe.
00:21:03.599 --> 00:21:04.559
I know it's tough.
00:21:04.720 --> 00:21:07.279
Uh yeah, I I like a lot of coffee shops.
00:21:07.359 --> 00:21:08.160
Some of the is value.
00:21:08.400 --> 00:21:10.400
I think the having some like space in them.
00:21:10.480 --> 00:21:14.480
So like some coffee shops are like a lot, but they're like right next to some other people is kind of tough in that.
00:21:14.559 --> 00:21:16.640
Um I do like the both indie coffee roasters are great.
00:21:16.799 --> 00:21:19.359
Tough thing about those is you have to very be very clear about which one you're meeting at.
00:21:19.519 --> 00:21:20.799
Yeah, they're both on the north side of Carmel.
00:21:21.119 --> 00:21:24.240
You're almost guaranteed that the other person's at the other one where you're beating.
00:21:25.200 --> 00:21:28.720
Callie and I went recently, which was really we've only been once, and so I think it's the right name.
00:21:28.880 --> 00:21:31.440
Is it Provider or Providence or It's Provider.
00:21:31.599 --> 00:21:31.839
Provider.
00:21:32.799 --> 00:21:34.799
Uh I'm thinking of what it's on City Row 38.
00:21:34.880 --> 00:21:39.440
It's actually what Grace It's what Grace said in the podcast, but I went provision?
00:21:39.599 --> 00:21:39.920
Maybe.
00:21:40.079 --> 00:21:43.279
Oh man, now I'm embarrassed because I said it as like I know which one you're talking about, though.
00:21:43.359 --> 00:21:44.079
It was really good.
00:21:44.240 --> 00:21:45.519
It was really it was good and sweet.
00:21:46.240 --> 00:21:46.880
Cool environment, I think.
00:21:47.039 --> 00:21:50.079
Cool places to sit and it was good.
00:21:50.240 --> 00:21:54.160
I think one of Steph's friends from Indiana Wesling actually like runs runs, owns it.
00:21:54.319 --> 00:21:54.720
Oh wee.
00:21:54.799 --> 00:21:54.960
Yeah.
00:21:55.119 --> 00:21:57.680
I'm I'm pretty easily happy in the coffee department.
00:21:57.839 --> 00:21:59.440
Like if we went to Starbucks, I'd be fine with that.
00:21:59.519 --> 00:22:00.960
Like I've I'm very fine with that.
00:22:02.319 --> 00:22:03.839
Neither one of you mentioned Rivet, but it's okay.
00:22:03.920 --> 00:22:04.240
I won't.
00:22:04.559 --> 00:22:05.680
I like I like Rivet too.
00:22:06.000 --> 00:22:06.640
Love Rivet.
00:22:06.799 --> 00:22:06.960
Yeah.
00:22:07.119 --> 00:22:08.160
Space going back to his.
00:22:10.240 --> 00:22:10.480
Yes.
00:22:10.559 --> 00:22:12.240
Now that's a different vibe for sure.
00:22:13.039 --> 00:22:14.880
I think that's the coolest shopping round.
00:22:14.960 --> 00:22:15.839
Uh, but it's not about me.
00:22:15.920 --> 00:22:16.480
It's not about me.
00:22:16.559 --> 00:22:17.200
Maybe a little bit about me.
00:22:17.519 --> 00:22:18.400
Least favorite food.
00:22:18.640 --> 00:22:19.519
Least favorite food.
00:22:19.759 --> 00:22:20.319
Can I can I go?
00:22:20.400 --> 00:22:21.359
Am I allowed to go first?
00:22:21.440 --> 00:22:28.000
I really my my my wife and her family love the um uh a cocktail sauce, like the was it the St.
00:22:28.160 --> 00:22:30.559
Elmo's cocktail sauce that has the horseradish sauce in it.
00:22:30.960 --> 00:22:33.920
The horseradish I would put in my least favorite food.
00:22:34.000 --> 00:22:35.519
It just doesn't seem fun at all.
00:22:35.599 --> 00:22:38.799
They're all if they listen to this, they are gonna roast me.
00:22:38.960 --> 00:22:39.920
But they all love it.
00:22:40.000 --> 00:22:42.640
And I'm just like, nah, I'll just give me some ketchup or something.
00:22:42.799 --> 00:22:43.039
I don't know.
00:22:43.519 --> 00:22:44.240
Yeah, definitely with you.
00:22:44.400 --> 00:22:44.799
That sounds awful.
00:22:45.359 --> 00:22:45.839
Thank you guys.
00:22:45.920 --> 00:22:47.279
Uh, real quick sub question.
00:22:47.440 --> 00:22:48.640
We've favorite candy.
00:22:48.880 --> 00:22:49.680
Least favorite candy.
00:22:49.759 --> 00:22:51.359
But does Brady need to go in his least favorite food first?
00:22:51.680 --> 00:22:52.559
Worst candy.
00:22:52.880 --> 00:22:53.279
For me?
00:22:53.440 --> 00:22:53.759
Yeah.
00:22:54.079 --> 00:22:56.079
Uh what's the worst candy?
00:22:56.240 --> 00:22:59.519
I'm thinking like maybe something that like sticks to my teeth a lot.
00:22:59.680 --> 00:23:00.559
I don't know.
00:23:00.799 --> 00:23:01.920
We'll give you still the time.
00:23:02.480 --> 00:23:03.039
Least favorite food.
00:23:03.359 --> 00:23:06.160
Answers for both these vegetables is the worst food.
00:23:06.319 --> 00:23:06.480
Amen.
00:23:06.880 --> 00:23:08.240
Uh, just the category.
00:23:08.400 --> 00:23:16.960
Pretty much there's a there's a number of vegetables that now in my much older age, uh, I've I'm okay to eat, and it's all right.
00:23:17.039 --> 00:23:18.000
They're pretty decent.
00:23:18.160 --> 00:23:22.240
But there's a number of them that you just lump the whole category, and I'm not I'm not gonna get into specifics.
00:23:22.480 --> 00:23:22.799
That's great.
00:23:22.880 --> 00:23:24.240
Vegetables great, agreed.
00:23:24.480 --> 00:23:26.480
Candy, bit of honey is the worst.
00:23:26.559 --> 00:23:26.640
Really?
00:23:26.960 --> 00:23:28.400
Oh, you use that as a sermon illustration, I think.
00:23:28.559 --> 00:23:28.960
At rock point.
00:23:29.119 --> 00:23:29.359
I remember that.
00:23:29.599 --> 00:23:31.680
If anyone listens to this, they're gonna know.
00:23:32.000 --> 00:23:32.240
Okay.
00:23:32.480 --> 00:23:36.559
I I just think it's the most average, dumb candy ever.
00:23:36.880 --> 00:23:37.119
Yeah.
00:23:37.279 --> 00:23:38.799
And it probably sticks to your teeth, too.
00:23:39.039 --> 00:23:39.200
It does.
00:23:39.440 --> 00:23:41.119
I think I think Joe would be with me on this.
00:23:41.200 --> 00:23:42.400
It's kind of worthless.
00:23:42.640 --> 00:23:43.119
I can't really think.
00:23:43.200 --> 00:23:48.880
You know, I think I'm always a little bit sad whenever you get some whoppers in like a Christmas or Easter like candy thing.
00:23:49.279 --> 00:23:50.319
Whoppers are really stale.
00:23:50.480 --> 00:23:52.160
Whoppers I just don't love either.
00:23:52.319 --> 00:23:54.720
Um I don't know, but they're not, I don't know.
00:23:54.799 --> 00:23:55.440
Um they're fine.
00:23:55.519 --> 00:23:56.240
Yeah, all right.
00:23:56.319 --> 00:23:58.640
These gotta be a little more rapid fire here.
00:23:58.960 --> 00:24:03.519
Book of the Bible that you'd most want to teach or preach or least want to teach.
00:24:03.599 --> 00:24:04.480
And can I go?
00:24:04.720 --> 00:24:09.279
I'm taking a class through like the Old Testament, but Job would be we we need to preach Job.
00:24:09.680 --> 00:24:12.720
And it'd be tough, it'd be interesting to do, but there's like Joe.
00:24:12.799 --> 00:24:18.400
If you want to take the mantle preaching Job out of preaching Isaiah in Revelation, I'm not touching Job for a while.
00:24:18.559 --> 00:24:22.160
I know that's a lot of repetitive when he's the the dialogue between the counselors and job is a lot.
00:24:22.720 --> 00:24:23.759
Job is awesome.
00:24:23.920 --> 00:24:24.880
Job is an awesome book.
00:24:24.960 --> 00:24:26.880
There's so like it, especially the start and the end.
00:24:27.039 --> 00:24:27.359
Okay.
00:24:27.599 --> 00:24:28.720
We we need to do job.
00:24:28.960 --> 00:24:29.119
Okay.
00:24:29.519 --> 00:24:29.680
Okay.
00:24:29.759 --> 00:24:29.920
All right.
00:24:30.000 --> 00:24:30.480
Well, I don't know.
00:24:30.720 --> 00:24:33.920
But also, that might be because I just studied it a bunch for like four days in a row.
00:24:34.160 --> 00:24:35.279
What do you not need to do?
00:24:35.519 --> 00:24:37.440
Which part of the which book of the Bible do you not like?
00:24:37.599 --> 00:24:42.160
I think you answered proverbs because Proverbs would be tough because you have so many, you know, one-line proverbs.
00:24:42.240 --> 00:24:42.880
How do you piece that together?
00:24:46.559 --> 00:24:48.000
Uh, you know, I don't want to.
00:24:48.079 --> 00:24:48.640
That's a tough.
00:24:48.960 --> 00:24:49.519
That's tough.
00:24:49.599 --> 00:24:52.160
I think I would just probably say Proverbs without thinking very much in that.
00:24:52.319 --> 00:24:53.200
That's that's that's okay.
00:24:53.279 --> 00:24:54.480
We'll we'll accept that answer.
00:24:54.640 --> 00:24:55.119
Yeah.
00:24:55.440 --> 00:24:57.599
Um most and least.
00:24:57.839 --> 00:24:59.039
Yeah, I think so.
00:24:59.200 --> 00:25:01.839
Least, I feel like I'd say, I mean, Job would be kind of close.
00:25:02.079 --> 00:25:02.559
Would be at least.
00:25:03.440 --> 00:25:04.240
Honestly, I think that would be a good thing.
00:25:04.480 --> 00:25:06.000
You have to do some big chunks in there.
00:25:06.240 --> 00:25:09.440
You can you could slow down at the start, big chunks in the middle, yeah, slow down at the end.
00:25:09.599 --> 00:25:10.400
So that would be a tough one.
00:25:10.480 --> 00:25:14.880
I I think another book that would be similar would be like uh like a first and second chronicles would probably be on the low end.
00:25:15.119 --> 00:25:15.599
That would be tough.
00:25:15.759 --> 00:25:20.240
For me, just a lot of the you know, yeah, especially when Kings and others are kind of similar.
00:25:20.400 --> 00:25:23.039
So that those would be some some ones that would be on the lower end.
00:25:23.279 --> 00:25:26.720
Top end, man, there's so many good books that I feel like I would want to preach.
00:25:26.799 --> 00:25:29.599
But this is how I'm excited to figure out my preaching.
00:25:29.759 --> 00:25:32.880
Well, I'm excited, maybe sneak peek for Jonah.
00:25:33.680 --> 00:25:35.039
That is, I think that's a reveal.
00:25:35.200 --> 00:25:38.160
Yeah, via the fact that uh that's our son's name.
00:25:38.319 --> 00:25:40.240
Yeah, uh, I think Jonah's an awesome book.
00:25:40.400 --> 00:25:42.160
Okay, and we may or may not be preaching that.
00:25:42.400 --> 00:25:44.799
Are you gonna be fighting for a few more of those sermons?
00:25:45.039 --> 00:25:45.359
Oh, yeah.
00:25:46.319 --> 00:25:46.799
Okay, all right.
00:25:46.880 --> 00:25:48.400
Well, we'll give you a few more in Jonah.
00:25:48.559 --> 00:25:49.119
See what happens.
00:25:49.279 --> 00:25:51.279
Guys, Jonah is probably coming in January.
00:25:51.440 --> 00:25:53.440
That's what it seems like at the Fields Church.
00:25:53.519 --> 00:25:54.640
Uh, favorite sport?
00:25:55.200 --> 00:25:56.000
Favorite sport.
00:25:56.079 --> 00:25:59.599
Uh, for really in the course of my life, baseball is my favorite sport.
00:25:59.680 --> 00:26:02.400
I played baseball forever that I really got maybe a little bit burnout on it.
00:26:02.480 --> 00:26:05.920
So maybe to watch now is football, but baseball really is my answer to that.
00:26:06.000 --> 00:26:06.720
That's the right answer.
00:26:06.880 --> 00:26:07.359
Basketball.
00:26:07.519 --> 00:26:08.160
It's an okay answer.
00:26:08.240 --> 00:26:08.880
No, we're an Indian.
00:26:09.039 --> 00:26:09.759
Come on, that's a great answer.
00:26:10.000 --> 00:26:10.720
That is a great answer.
00:26:10.799 --> 00:26:11.200
I agree.
00:26:11.279 --> 00:26:12.400
Uh, both of those are great.
00:26:12.559 --> 00:26:16.559
Uh let's do favorite fiction book.
00:26:16.799 --> 00:26:19.920
I need a favorite novel fiction book.
00:26:20.799 --> 00:26:22.480
You know, have you read a fiction book?
00:26:22.799 --> 00:26:23.839
We're both in the category of.
00:26:24.160 --> 00:26:27.599
Both of these guys just went like, I don't have anything in this.
00:26:28.319 --> 00:26:29.119
What is a fiction book?
00:26:29.359 --> 00:26:30.319
We're gonna pivot.
00:26:30.400 --> 00:26:34.720
Uh we're gonna go to favorite, apparently non-fiction book.
00:26:34.799 --> 00:26:42.160
Um, that we should you know, what's a book that you'd recommend to people uh in this you know, you should be like, oh, you should read this.
00:26:42.319 --> 00:26:42.799
This is really good.
00:26:42.960 --> 00:26:45.200
I read Christian and non-Christian both accept it.
00:26:45.359 --> 00:26:50.960
I say this many times, but um Michael Lawrence's uh this has been my answer, I think, three or four times to your favorite book, the conversion book.
00:26:51.039 --> 00:26:59.759
So if you do those little nine book marks series, it actually was helpful, even thinking about my testimony, helped for for me to give some language to the new life that I had in Christ.
00:26:59.920 --> 00:27:02.559
And uh very helpful, easy to read.
00:27:02.720 --> 00:27:04.480
Um that'd be one I put in there.
00:27:04.559 --> 00:27:06.720
I think also Impossible Christianity by Kevin Deoung.
00:27:07.039 --> 00:27:11.759
Rarely do I laugh out loud reading an introduction to a book, and it's also super helpful in theological ways.
00:27:12.000 --> 00:27:12.720
We had that as a staff.
00:27:12.880 --> 00:27:13.359
I think we did.
00:27:13.440 --> 00:27:13.599
Yep.
00:27:13.759 --> 00:27:14.079
Yeah.
00:27:14.319 --> 00:27:18.559
Uh stink, I mean, conversion, the yellow book, and that little nine mark series.
00:27:18.640 --> 00:27:20.480
But I that is a that is gold.
00:27:20.960 --> 00:27:21.519
It's so good.
00:27:21.680 --> 00:27:22.160
Yeah.
00:27:22.960 --> 00:27:28.880
I would say, I mean, kind of classic answer, but I this book I've returned to multiple times, Gentle and Lowly by Dan Orland.
00:27:29.119 --> 00:27:29.519
So good.
00:27:29.599 --> 00:27:30.960
Yeah, super helpful for me.
00:27:31.039 --> 00:27:32.319
Yeah, just knowing the heart of Christ.
00:27:32.559 --> 00:27:33.680
So thankful for that.
00:27:33.839 --> 00:27:36.720
I think it came out with a smaller version called The Heart of Christ.
00:27:36.880 --> 00:27:37.119
That's right.
00:27:37.200 --> 00:27:37.599
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:27:38.559 --> 00:27:40.000
Kind of just doing it for him right there.
00:27:40.319 --> 00:27:46.720
So that one, I I think um Rejoicing in Christ is a really good book by Michael Reeves, also that I just read.
00:27:46.799 --> 00:27:48.960
So, or not that long ago, a little bit a while ago.
00:27:49.039 --> 00:27:49.440
But yeah.
00:27:49.680 --> 00:27:51.759
When you taught on the doctrine of Christ, is that's right.
00:27:51.839 --> 00:27:53.279
That's that's I read that just before then.
00:27:53.440 --> 00:27:53.759
Love it.
00:27:53.839 --> 00:27:55.359
Uh, favorite time of year?
00:27:55.680 --> 00:27:56.240
Fall.
00:27:56.400 --> 00:27:57.359
It's coming up soon.
00:27:57.519 --> 00:27:57.920
That's so good.
00:27:58.079 --> 00:27:58.559
I can't wait, man.
00:27:58.720 --> 00:27:59.599
Hooded sweatshirt.
00:27:59.759 --> 00:28:02.480
I think I also like fall time, but I like a lot of the times of the year.
00:28:02.559 --> 00:28:04.400
Uh for Joe, he wears a hood and sweatshirt.
00:28:04.559 --> 00:28:06.079
Yeah, he's wearing the same thing almost all the time.
00:28:06.319 --> 00:28:06.960
I'm wearing a sweatshirt.
00:28:07.200 --> 00:28:11.920
He is wearing what I would wear this fall right now in a pretty warm room in the middle of the day.
00:28:12.160 --> 00:28:12.880
This little room gets warm.
00:28:12.960 --> 00:28:13.839
Are the office as a whole?
00:28:14.000 --> 00:28:15.599
If you turn the AC on, it gets a little chilly.
00:28:15.839 --> 00:28:16.640
I like to have a sweatshirt.
00:28:16.799 --> 00:28:17.440
Don't need a sweatshirt.
00:28:17.680 --> 00:28:19.200
Been fine in my polo and t-shirt.
00:28:19.279 --> 00:28:20.079
I'm wearing a t-shirt.
00:28:20.160 --> 00:28:21.119
We've been great.
00:28:21.359 --> 00:28:22.960
Um uh biggest.
00:28:23.200 --> 00:28:24.720
No, no, let's go to go-to snack.
00:28:24.880 --> 00:28:26.240
What's your go-to snack?
00:28:26.400 --> 00:28:29.200
What are we snacking on in the afternoon?
00:28:30.240 --> 00:28:31.279
Oh, in the afternoon?
00:28:31.359 --> 00:28:34.160
Yeah, that's that's that's probably a big, yeah, that's probably a key difference.
00:28:34.400 --> 00:28:35.680
Yeah, let's go for an afternoon snack.
00:28:36.000 --> 00:28:36.880
Afternoon snack.
00:28:37.119 --> 00:28:42.640
I would say historically for me, the snack that I would be most would be go to think about is just granola bars.
00:28:42.720 --> 00:28:44.720
Just yeah, they're so easy, they're good.
00:28:44.880 --> 00:28:46.559
I used to dip them in peanut butter.
00:28:46.880 --> 00:28:47.200
It's good.
00:28:47.440 --> 00:28:48.559
Oh man, nice call on that.
00:28:48.720 --> 00:28:52.559
So Abby and I have a little bit of a you know different understanding of snack.
00:28:52.720 --> 00:28:58.880
She thinks a snack is kind of like a particular kind of thing that you're supposed to have that that wouldn't be a dessert.
00:28:58.960 --> 00:29:00.799
I lump all desserts into snacks.
00:29:00.880 --> 00:29:01.359
Oh, okay.
00:29:01.599 --> 00:29:04.799
So when I think snack, the first thing that's coming to mind is all sorts of desserts.
00:29:04.880 --> 00:29:06.160
So I'm like, what dessert am I eating?
00:29:06.400 --> 00:29:09.359
So just for people who don't let me be clear and to help you out.
00:29:09.440 --> 00:29:11.599
Your wife's right that that's not a snack.
00:29:11.680 --> 00:29:13.599
No, we'll let you go ahead and answer the way that you can see.
00:29:13.759 --> 00:29:15.039
I'm gonna answer the way I'm gonna answer.
00:29:15.599 --> 00:29:19.599
Which is which is gonna be basically what my favorite food would be is like cookies.
00:29:19.759 --> 00:29:22.240
So I would I would eat cookies pretty much any time of the day.
00:29:22.480 --> 00:29:27.279
I was gonna tell Abby that she was, but now when you said cookie, I'm like, I'm gonna say that's the best snack to have it.
00:29:27.440 --> 00:29:29.920
Which is why our anniversary is gonna be a cookie bake-off.
00:29:30.079 --> 00:29:30.799
That's right.
00:29:31.119 --> 00:29:39.119
Guys, is there anything that we as a church that you haven't said yet or answered, you're like, oh man, they should know this about me.
00:29:39.440 --> 00:29:45.920
What's what's something, a last little thing that you're like, I bet you the church doesn't know this.
00:29:46.559 --> 00:29:49.039
And they would be maybe a little surprised to know it.
00:29:49.279 --> 00:29:52.079
What what anything that comes to mind in that area?
00:29:52.160 --> 00:29:52.799
What's what's something?
00:29:52.880 --> 00:29:54.079
Joe, you got something?
00:29:57.920 --> 00:29:59.839
We can only have dead air for so long.
00:30:00.000 --> 00:30:01.119
We can have a lot of dead air, I think.
00:30:01.359 --> 00:30:01.680
I don't know.
00:30:01.839 --> 00:30:04.160
I don't think in a podcast that works that way.
00:30:04.799 --> 00:30:06.000
Just put it on two times speed.
00:30:06.160 --> 00:30:06.559
It'll be fine.
00:30:06.640 --> 00:30:07.920
It'll be a lot less time, you know.
00:30:08.000 --> 00:30:08.640
It'll be okay.
00:30:08.960 --> 00:30:11.759
I could play some Jeopardy theme song or something in here.
00:30:12.160 --> 00:30:12.799
That's right.
00:30:13.039 --> 00:30:18.640
Uh man, I I feel like there's a lot of random things that I could think of about how like something that people wouldn't know about me.
00:30:19.039 --> 00:30:23.279
Just give me just so we're just trying to close this thing up with uh with a good thing that maybe somebody didn't know.
00:30:25.920 --> 00:30:26.799
That I like.
00:30:27.440 --> 00:30:31.599
Probably, I mean, I I just think of probably the first thing, couple two things about me.
00:30:31.759 --> 00:30:32.960
Running, really like running.
00:30:33.039 --> 00:30:33.599
Yeah, that's fun.
00:30:33.759 --> 00:30:33.920
Yep.
00:30:34.000 --> 00:30:35.359
Uh there's started a little run club.
00:30:35.519 --> 00:30:36.240
We have a little run club.
00:30:36.319 --> 00:30:38.319
So if you want to come out and run, let's talk to me.
00:30:38.400 --> 00:30:38.960
It'd be fun.
00:30:39.119 --> 00:30:39.920
Don't talk to me.
00:30:40.079 --> 00:30:41.440
Uh not Jeff.
00:30:41.759 --> 00:30:42.720
Um Joe.
00:30:43.039 --> 00:30:44.160
Have you been to the running club?
00:30:44.319 --> 00:30:45.440
I have not been to the running club.
00:30:45.519 --> 00:30:45.759
Thank you.
00:30:46.640 --> 00:30:46.960
Not there.
00:30:47.519 --> 00:30:48.720
Uh boy Joe.
00:30:49.039 --> 00:30:51.119
And then uh, I really like cities.
00:30:51.200 --> 00:30:55.920
Like, I think that's just a cool like I would love to visit almost any city in the world.
00:30:56.000 --> 00:30:59.279
I just think they're so interesting and unique.
00:30:59.440 --> 00:31:03.680
So, like, I'm thankful that we live closer to a city now in Indianapolis and that sort of thing.
00:31:04.160 --> 00:31:04.960
Real quick.
00:31:06.160 --> 00:31:07.519
That I've ever visited.
00:31:07.599 --> 00:31:08.640
Man, there's so many good ones.
00:31:08.960 --> 00:31:11.119
Just a good city that maybe you can recommend.
00:31:11.440 --> 00:31:14.000
Two cities that come to mind first are like Denver.
00:31:14.079 --> 00:31:14.400
Yeah.
00:31:14.640 --> 00:31:15.680
And then Seattle.
00:31:15.920 --> 00:31:16.720
Oh, that's great.
00:31:16.799 --> 00:31:18.079
Those are two, both on my list.
00:31:18.160 --> 00:31:19.039
Okay, Joe.
00:31:19.200 --> 00:31:19.839
Yeah, I don't know.
00:31:20.079 --> 00:31:22.000
I don't I haven't I it's tough for me to answer this.
00:31:22.240 --> 00:31:26.079
I think some of you wouldn't know about me, maybe that I think would be a fun thing to do.
00:31:26.160 --> 00:31:30.559
I think it'd be really fun to like build a log cabin with with some guys.
00:31:30.640 --> 00:31:31.920
It would be like that would just be.
00:31:32.160 --> 00:31:33.519
Joe, are you an outdoorsman?
00:31:33.680 --> 00:31:34.079
No, I'm not.
00:31:34.240 --> 00:31:39.759
But like I was a little bit surprised, but like if you want to build logs, do you kind of think it's gonna be like Lincoln logs?
00:31:40.240 --> 00:31:46.160
Um no, I and it would take a while, it'd be it'd be a tough thing to do, but I think that would just it just sounds so fun to do something.
00:31:46.480 --> 00:31:47.039
You need to watch.
00:31:47.119 --> 00:31:49.759
There's there's actually a dude perfect where they built a do they?
00:31:49.839 --> 00:31:50.640
Yeah, you need to watch it.
00:31:50.720 --> 00:31:51.599
You could get to see it.
00:31:51.680 --> 00:31:53.440
It looked really, really difficult.
00:31:53.759 --> 00:31:55.920
I'm sure it is, but it sounds so fun to me.
00:31:56.079 --> 00:31:56.400
Okay.
00:31:56.559 --> 00:32:02.880
Well, if there's anybody listening that would like to build a log cabin, maybe if we could get some land for the church, we build a little log cabin on it.
00:32:03.039 --> 00:32:03.440
There we go.
00:32:03.519 --> 00:32:04.480
And Joe's ready to go.
00:32:04.720 --> 00:32:06.240
It's a good it's a good spot to start, yeah.
00:32:06.480 --> 00:32:17.359
Guys, I I think probably that people can understand a little bit of why it you guys are just very fun uh to work with and um yeah, having a lot of fun.
00:32:17.440 --> 00:32:27.680
It was good to just kind of figure out a little bit more about you guys, really, especially to hear your testimonies and to think about how the Lord has worked in your life and saved you, and uh just really thankful for that and how both of you serve at the church.
00:32:27.839 --> 00:32:29.920
So I guess do I need to do the outro?
00:32:30.319 --> 00:32:30.799
You do need to.
00:32:30.960 --> 00:32:32.240
It's so hard to do the outro.
00:32:32.319 --> 00:32:33.759
I never know what to say in the intro.
00:32:34.000 --> 00:32:35.039
No, it's really not.
00:32:35.279 --> 00:32:40.079
Fields, we love you guys, and it is a joy to serve in ministry at this church.
00:32:40.240 --> 00:32:43.359
It's a joy, especially for me, to serve with these two guys.
00:32:43.519 --> 00:32:45.200
We hope you have a great week.
00:32:45.440 --> 00:32:46.319
Great outro.
00:32:46.400 --> 00:32:49.359
Yeah, we'll just record that, put that on there every time every time.
00:32:49.519 --> 00:32:50.799
See you, Fields notes.
00:00:06.719 --> 00:00:22.000
Welcome to this week's episode of Fields Notes, where we take a deeper dive into sermon text, discuss matters of life and faith, and enjoy conversations around the table with fellow friends from the Fields.
00:00:25.760 --> 00:00:28.559
Well, hey, hello, and welcome back to Fields Notes.
00:00:28.640 --> 00:00:31.440
It's been a uh, as the kids say, a minute.
00:00:31.519 --> 00:00:33.840
It's been a little while since we recorded a Field Notes podcast.
00:00:34.320 --> 00:00:35.039
Is that what the kids say?
00:00:35.200 --> 00:00:36.799
Honestly, it's probably not even cool anymore.
00:00:36.880 --> 00:00:37.280
I don't know.
00:00:38.240 --> 00:00:41.520
It's like I feel like sometimes I feel like I still say it's been a minute since that was cool.
00:00:41.920 --> 00:00:42.159
You're right.
00:00:42.960 --> 00:00:44.079
Uh we might need to restart this.
00:00:44.159 --> 00:00:44.399
I don't know.
00:00:44.560 --> 00:00:46.479
It's been a while since we started recording podcasts.
00:00:46.640 --> 00:00:53.119
Uh we kind of had a we started a summer series on our Fields Notes interviewing people of our staff mainly, getting to know us.
00:00:53.280 --> 00:00:56.240
We kind of took a somewhat summer break due to logistics.
00:00:56.399 --> 00:00:58.799
Also, we kind of plan to take a summer break in some ways too.
00:00:58.960 --> 00:00:59.039
Yeah.
00:00:59.200 --> 00:01:04.000
We're wrapping up the summer podcast series, doing another interview.
00:01:04.239 --> 00:01:11.120
If it were up to me, we probably would only be interviewing Braden, but through some subtle nudges from Jeff, perhaps.
00:01:11.200 --> 00:01:11.519
I don't know.
00:01:11.599 --> 00:01:12.799
I'm being interviewed as well.
00:01:12.879 --> 00:01:17.040
We're gonna get to know Braden and I a little bit because we're tons of fun, right, Braden?
00:01:17.439 --> 00:01:17.760
Absolutely.
00:01:18.000 --> 00:01:19.200
We're fun people to know.
00:01:19.439 --> 00:01:20.959
Um, I don't know if that's true or not.
00:01:21.120 --> 00:01:21.519
We're pretty fun.
00:01:21.760 --> 00:01:22.239
Braden's fun.
00:01:22.400 --> 00:01:22.719
Yeah, yeah.
00:01:22.799 --> 00:01:24.079
We're um tons of fun.
00:01:24.400 --> 00:01:29.599
We do think it's valuable though that, especially people working for our church, that our church would know us um to a certain degree.
00:01:29.680 --> 00:01:32.079
This is maybe a helpful platform to do that.
00:01:32.159 --> 00:01:34.159
And so that's why we're doing these podcasts.
00:01:34.239 --> 00:01:35.920
So I think Jeff is gonna be is this right, Jeff?
00:01:36.159 --> 00:01:37.680
Jeff's gonna be asking some questions here.
00:01:37.840 --> 00:01:39.040
He might even have some questions.
00:01:39.120 --> 00:01:41.040
We don't know, we don't know what he's gonna ask in some ways.
00:01:41.200 --> 00:01:43.359
We know part, we know some general things he's gonna ask.
00:01:43.439 --> 00:01:46.239
Um, but our hope for you guys we always have the script.
00:01:46.400 --> 00:01:47.439
Yeah, you think you do.
00:01:47.599 --> 00:01:53.680
Our hope is that this would be a uh a fun podcast where you guys get to know about Braden, Braden Pape and I.
00:01:54.159 --> 00:01:55.120
This is Joe House speaking.
00:01:55.599 --> 00:01:56.159
You guys get to know us.
00:01:56.400 --> 00:01:56.879
Joe House.
00:01:56.959 --> 00:01:57.439
Everybody knows.
00:01:57.920 --> 00:02:00.400
Apparently, we sound somewhat similar on this podcast.
00:02:00.640 --> 00:02:04.640
If you don't know us super well, every time before we answer, we'll just have to say our first and last name.
00:02:04.799 --> 00:02:06.079
Yes, maybe even middle.
00:02:06.400 --> 00:02:08.000
Pape, comma Braden speaking.
00:02:08.159 --> 00:02:08.560
There you go.
00:02:08.719 --> 00:02:12.560
You guys do guys, I'm excited, and and I'm excited for a lot of reasons.
00:02:12.719 --> 00:02:17.120
But one, because I yeah, I do have the privilege of working with you guys and serving with you guys.
00:02:17.280 --> 00:02:19.840
And yeah, it's it's we have a lot of fun.
00:02:20.080 --> 00:02:25.840
And um, it's it really is one of the great joys in ministry is getting to serve alongside both of you.
00:02:26.000 --> 00:02:30.400
Uh, so I'm excited to hear your answers to these questions, to get to just enjoy that together.
00:02:30.560 --> 00:02:31.840
So let's start.
00:02:32.080 --> 00:02:33.280
Probably most basic.
00:02:33.439 --> 00:02:39.759
Hey, talk to us a little bit about where you're from, high school, college, family.
00:02:39.919 --> 00:02:46.080
Like just give us that kind of brief bio before we get into your kind of spiritual bio, if you will.
00:02:46.400 --> 00:02:47.840
Braden, we'll we'll kick it off with you.
00:02:48.080 --> 00:02:49.039
Sounds great.
00:02:49.280 --> 00:02:56.240
Uh yeah, I am originally from Wisconsin, uh which everybody knows if you're if you know me.
00:02:56.319 --> 00:02:56.719
You're gonna be.
00:03:01.199 --> 00:03:01.680
It's a good place.
00:03:02.000 --> 00:03:03.599
You never had any cheese curds before.
00:03:03.759 --> 00:03:04.159
That's right.
00:03:04.240 --> 00:03:05.840
And Culver's uh especially.
00:03:05.919 --> 00:03:07.759
So those are important things in my life.
00:03:07.840 --> 00:03:12.879
Yeah, from Wisconsin, very southeastern, like Delavan, Lake Geneva, if you know those areas.
00:03:13.120 --> 00:03:14.159
Um, yep.
00:03:14.479 --> 00:03:17.360
I then uh grew up there my whole life.
00:03:17.439 --> 00:03:23.360
I have uh wonderful mom and dad, Craig and Deb, and I have three younger sisters, uh, and they're awesome.
00:03:23.439 --> 00:03:25.360
And then I have a great wife.
00:03:25.520 --> 00:03:27.360
Her name is Abby, you'll see her around.
00:03:27.439 --> 00:03:29.280
And we have two kids, Brooklyn and Jonah.
00:03:29.439 --> 00:03:39.199
And uh we Abby and I met at school at Cedarville University, and so we were in Ohio for a few years, and then we have moved out to Indiana for since college, really.
00:03:39.280 --> 00:03:44.319
We've been in Indiana in Crawfordsville first, and then now here at the fields in Westfield.
00:03:45.039 --> 00:03:45.680
So well done.
00:03:45.759 --> 00:03:48.240
Joe, that's a that's a high bar for you to follow up.
00:03:48.400 --> 00:03:50.400
Yeah, I have to like think about where have I been?
00:03:50.479 --> 00:03:51.840
Where did I go to school?
00:03:52.000 --> 00:03:53.680
And who is in my family?
00:03:53.919 --> 00:03:54.960
Joe, take it away.
00:03:55.360 --> 00:03:55.840
Well, I'm Joe.
00:03:55.919 --> 00:03:58.719
I'm from so I'm from Lafayette, Indiana, not too far away.
00:03:58.800 --> 00:04:00.080
Not West Lafayette.
00:04:00.159 --> 00:04:01.199
I'm from the real Lafayette.
00:04:01.439 --> 00:04:01.680
There you go.
00:04:02.240 --> 00:04:02.560
There you go.
00:04:02.960 --> 00:04:06.639
Um, I went to, if you know the Lafayette High School, so I went to Lafayette Jeff.
00:04:06.800 --> 00:04:10.400
Um, the mascot is the Broncos, but it's actually not spelled correctly.
00:04:10.479 --> 00:04:11.840
That's a little fun fact about Jeff.
00:04:11.919 --> 00:04:12.639
Do you know that, Braden?
00:04:12.879 --> 00:04:13.520
No, how's it spelled?
00:04:13.599 --> 00:04:18.160
Like Broncos normally spelled uh B-R-O-N-C-C-O-S.
00:04:18.800 --> 00:04:20.079
R has an H in it.
00:04:20.560 --> 00:04:22.160
The joke is that Branchos.
00:04:22.319 --> 00:04:22.800
Yeah, who knows?
00:04:23.040 --> 00:04:24.639
Where it after the C?
00:04:24.800 --> 00:04:24.959
Yeah.
00:04:25.279 --> 00:04:25.360
Yeah.
00:04:25.519 --> 00:04:25.680
What?
00:04:27.040 --> 00:04:28.959
The H stands for heart, is what we say.
00:04:29.040 --> 00:04:29.519
I don't know.
00:04:30.079 --> 00:04:31.759
Anyways, that's another story from our day.
00:04:31.920 --> 00:04:32.720
Went to Jeff.
00:04:32.879 --> 00:04:35.920
Um yeah, from Lafayette, I'm the baby of my family.
00:04:36.000 --> 00:04:36.959
I'm the youngest of four.
00:04:37.199 --> 00:04:39.279
Babies of the families are always the best, is what they say.
00:04:39.519 --> 00:04:40.639
I don't know if that's true or not.
00:04:40.959 --> 00:04:42.399
Um yeah, love my family.
00:04:42.560 --> 00:04:43.279
So grateful for them.
00:04:43.439 --> 00:04:44.800
Uh yeah, so grouping Lafayette.
00:04:44.879 --> 00:04:48.800
I went to Wabash College, the all-male school in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
00:04:48.879 --> 00:04:50.800
A lot of Crawfordsville connections in our church.
00:04:50.959 --> 00:04:51.360
That's right.
00:04:51.759 --> 00:04:55.680
Um, yeah, thankful for my education there.
00:04:55.839 --> 00:04:57.279
Um, what are whatever questions?
00:04:57.600 --> 00:04:58.399
I see Brayden did better.
00:04:58.639 --> 00:04:59.360
You have more family.
00:04:59.600 --> 00:05:00.000
More family.
00:05:00.720 --> 00:05:03.360
Now you have you have your own immediate family.
00:05:03.519 --> 00:05:04.319
I do have my own family.
00:05:04.639 --> 00:05:07.120
So I'm married to my lovely, wonderful wife, Callie.
00:05:07.199 --> 00:05:09.519
Um we've actually been interviewed this summer on the podcast.
00:05:09.759 --> 00:05:10.160
Callie has.
00:05:10.240 --> 00:05:12.319
People probably know Cali better than me in a lot of ways.
00:05:12.480 --> 00:05:14.240
Uh I'm yeah, I'm Callie's husband.
00:05:15.199 --> 00:05:15.360
Yeah.
00:05:16.000 --> 00:05:17.199
You're getting to be Luke's dad.
00:05:17.439 --> 00:05:17.920
I'm yeah.
00:05:18.079 --> 00:05:20.000
That's how I know the kid with the white hair.
00:05:20.399 --> 00:05:22.240
Um we have our son Luke.
00:05:22.399 --> 00:05:28.560
We love him very much, and uh, we're expecting uh Laney, our daughter, to be born here soon.
00:05:29.040 --> 00:05:30.639
Um, so we're very grateful.
00:05:30.720 --> 00:05:32.399
We've been married for just over five years.
00:05:32.639 --> 00:05:40.720
We um yeah, we have been with the fields in a sense from almost basically the start of uh the idea of the fields church.
00:05:40.800 --> 00:05:46.079
But we um yeah, I lived in Indianapolis for a couple years um before or after graduating college, before here.
00:05:46.160 --> 00:05:46.959
I've been a teacher.
00:05:47.120 --> 00:05:48.480
I think most people know that in our church.
00:05:48.560 --> 00:05:56.399
I taught math for five years before uh working for our church, but a couple years in Indianapolis, middle school math, three years at Westfield High School, teaching Algebra one.
00:05:56.800 --> 00:05:57.839
What a joy.
00:05:58.160 --> 00:05:59.600
Favorite, favorite math class.
00:05:59.839 --> 00:06:05.279
I did make our I recently I made our FSM students do some math problems at our last uh summer event.
00:06:05.360 --> 00:06:08.800
It was Carson's still a little upset about the math on drugs.
00:06:09.040 --> 00:06:15.120
Yeah, he's still mainly I think because he missed it, because it's actually in a movie that we watch a little big league, and he's still a little frustrated.
00:06:15.439 --> 00:06:16.240
Such a fun math problem.
00:06:16.399 --> 00:06:17.839
Yeah, yeah, those are some general things.
00:06:18.720 --> 00:06:20.000
Uh let's talk to both of you guys.
00:06:20.160 --> 00:06:20.800
Great job.
00:06:20.879 --> 00:06:22.560
Uh how did you become a Christian?
00:06:22.720 --> 00:06:24.079
Like what talk to us a little bit.
00:06:24.160 --> 00:06:30.560
And obviously, you've already given us a story, so you don't need to re-give us your entire life, but uh just particularly how the Lord saved you.
00:06:31.439 --> 00:06:32.399
Yeah, I can go first.
00:06:32.639 --> 00:06:33.199
You can, Braden.
00:06:33.360 --> 00:06:33.600
You got it.
00:06:33.839 --> 00:06:34.480
This is Braden.
00:06:34.800 --> 00:06:36.800
Uh just to be clear.
00:06:36.959 --> 00:06:38.959
Uh yeah, I um thankful.
00:06:39.279 --> 00:06:51.600
Grew up in a Christian home, Christian family, was taught about Christ at a very young age and really believe the Lord saved me uh at a at a young age of like six, uh, through some sort of church ministry like a wana.
00:06:51.759 --> 00:06:51.920
Yeah.
00:06:52.000 --> 00:06:52.959
Uh thankful for that.
00:06:53.120 --> 00:07:09.680
And um, and then talked to my mom about those things and saw the Lord just grow a desire for him uh young, uh really in middle school, even that took off a lot, and uh started reading my Bible and doing things that I would not normally uh think a middle school would do as I look back and just see the Lord working in that way.
00:07:10.160 --> 00:07:25.839
Big probably like uh way the Lord worked in my life was certainly through struggling with sexual sin and pornography in uh high school, uh going to a public school and definitely at that point in time thinking through what does it mean to be a Christian and struggle with sin and trying to understand like how do I struggle with sin?
00:07:25.920 --> 00:07:33.680
And and a lot of my understanding was very much like I should I should hide this because I need to be good and I and I want to not do this, I don't want to sin in this way.
00:07:34.079 --> 00:07:38.319
Uh, but I didn't know what to do with it except for try to work harder to get rid of it.
00:07:38.560 --> 00:07:50.319
And so uh eventually after kind of in some ways coming to a little bit of an end of myself, the Lord just reminded me of Romans 5.8, which is God demonstrates his own love for us in this, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
00:07:50.639 --> 00:08:03.279
And uh that was just like a new wave of the gospel hitting my life and just seeing man, that that even in my sin is is not when I'm good, is when Christ loves me and gave himself for me.
00:08:03.360 --> 00:08:09.680
But even while knowing all of my sin and the depths of it and all those things, that that that's when Christ loved and gave himself for me.
00:08:09.759 --> 00:08:22.160
And so uh for me that was uh really just helpful in in even just beginning a journey of having God's grace really change me and transform me uh instead of my own efforts and just trying to work harder, uh, which didn't work.
00:08:22.399 --> 00:08:22.560
Yeah.
00:08:22.720 --> 00:08:38.080
And uh and so super thankful for uh that then season in my life into college, um, getting getting accountability around me, growing in the gospel and and understanding more deeply what it means to be in Christ and and how that changes and shapes us and transforms our lives.
00:08:38.240 --> 00:08:55.440
And so uh that that's really a lot of how the Lord saved me and then what what he then even used a lot of those uh trials to then even uh give me a passion for ministry and helping people to understand that gospel that we can very easily hear and then and then figure out what what does that mean for my life?
00:08:55.519 --> 00:09:10.480
And and so those things really played into even just a desire to help people uh with that gospel and think about man, what does this mean for me to walk in Christ and people who go to church and hear these things, but then how does that live when I when I sin or when I struggle or in the real things of life?
00:09:10.559 --> 00:09:14.399
And and so that was really uh kind of those two things kind of going together uh for me in my life.
00:09:14.559 --> 00:09:20.080
Super thankful for God's grace and his kindness to continue to me, uh to lead me to repentance and walk with me.
00:09:20.159 --> 00:09:23.120
So uh yeah, thankful for God's grace and saving me.
00:09:23.440 --> 00:09:24.320
Yeah, that's awesome, brother.
00:09:24.559 --> 00:09:24.960
Praise the Lord.
00:09:25.039 --> 00:09:25.840
Thanks for sharing, Braden.
00:09:26.320 --> 00:09:27.519
Yeah, I'll I'll share too.
00:09:27.600 --> 00:09:29.039
You know, you can it's always tough to share your test.
00:09:29.440 --> 00:09:33.600
You can like I have the three-hour version, I have the one-minute version somewhere between maybe that.
00:09:33.679 --> 00:09:36.879
But uh uh I really became a Christian after I graduated college.
00:09:37.039 --> 00:09:40.720
So later that a lot of um more a lot of people have been saved young at young age.
00:09:40.799 --> 00:09:45.120
I've um yeah, became a Christian uh really in 2020 in the COVID season.
00:09:45.200 --> 00:09:47.440
But I can just like some details lead up to that.
00:09:47.600 --> 00:10:00.960
Um yeah, at a young age, we actually my family did not go to church, but we uh started going to church when I was in middle school and we faithfully attended and um I liked church, but I think I was um wasn't a um priority perhaps for me.
00:10:01.039 --> 00:10:07.600
I was like, oh I'm just a uh kind of a good kid, don't get in trouble that much, get good grades, play sports, do like that.
00:10:07.679 --> 00:10:13.919
And oh, going to church is a good thing too, and that um kind of would have somewhat been my high school in a in a sense.
00:10:14.320 --> 00:10:17.440
But you definitely weren't Joe, like a you weren't like an atheist per se.
00:10:17.679 --> 00:10:25.759
Like you wouldn't have like you would have probably had some yeah, god's there's a God and Jesus, like you would have thought yourself a Christian at some level.
00:10:26.000 --> 00:10:27.200
I I think I would have, yeah.
00:10:27.360 --> 00:10:31.120
And then, but just not a priority in my life of that of like uh but that's not that important.
00:10:31.200 --> 00:10:33.840
Kind of like I we wouldn't have just wouldn't have thought about it.
00:10:33.919 --> 00:10:38.799
I probably wouldn't have said that maybe, but um yeah, probably in priority in my life.
00:10:38.879 --> 00:10:49.360
Um yeah, and uh I'll get to maybe more, but like wouldn't have understood the gospel in when I was in high school of like well, kind of there's grace involved, but also I should probably be good, like yeah.
00:10:49.919 --> 00:10:54.480
Um yeah, um I lived a uh a pretty worldly college life the whole time.
00:10:54.559 --> 00:11:04.720
Maybe would have thought I was a um a Christian, but um looking back, really would not have lived a godly college life um in many ways.
00:11:04.799 --> 00:11:08.960
Um would have sporadically gone to churches, but really wasn't plugged into a church body.
00:11:09.039 --> 00:11:14.080
Um sporadically would have read my Bible, but um not some would have uh yeah.
00:11:14.320 --> 00:11:32.879
Um in a lot of ways, yeah, in some way uh like I would try this often of lived a half in life that really is a not in life that I was trying to have the world and Jesus in a sense of like I think I need to kind of be good in this, um, and really just not living it.
00:11:32.960 --> 00:11:37.360
Um uh throughout my life, like uh the Lord really has put such great examples in my life.
00:11:37.440 --> 00:11:46.639
So a couple people in college um who really were Christians, who stood out as Christians to me, that I was like, there's something about them that I like, but I I don't quite know in that.
00:11:46.720 --> 00:11:54.399
And even a um a good friend who I'm still in touch with who I grew uh after I graduated college, and I was like, at the time, I was like, oh man, this guy's like a big time mega.
00:11:54.720 --> 00:11:55.759
I'm just like a normal Christian.
00:11:55.840 --> 00:11:57.200
He's like a big time mega Christian.
00:11:57.279 --> 00:11:59.279
In reality, I just wasn't, and he was.
00:11:59.360 --> 00:12:00.559
It's really the reality of that.
00:12:00.639 --> 00:12:02.720
And um, but the Lord used him in so many ways.
00:12:02.960 --> 00:12:06.159
Um, really, I was even in this um, yeah, I think I'm gonna show this too.
00:12:06.240 --> 00:12:09.279
I was even this kind of in this half-end season, even when I met Callie in some ways.
00:12:09.360 --> 00:12:24.879
00:12:25.039 --> 00:12:28.559
Like I'm I imagine a lot of people are like, yeah, we know what you mean, man.
00:12:28.639 --> 00:12:42.639
Like we get this sort of like, yeah, you know, Christianity, like I, but not once you're when you probably were safe, like you could just go, oh whatever it was before, that wasn't it.
00:12:43.120 --> 00:12:44.399
Like I wasn't a Christian then.
00:12:44.480 --> 00:12:46.480
I don't know what that was, but I know now.
00:12:46.639 --> 00:12:47.440
Yeah, right?
00:12:47.600 --> 00:12:48.080
Yep, yeah.
00:12:48.240 --> 00:12:48.799
In many ways.
00:12:48.960 --> 00:12:50.639
Um, but uh yeah, uh so kind.
00:12:50.960 --> 00:12:55.120
I started dating in um not that long after that with the COVID shutdown happened.
00:12:55.200 --> 00:13:01.200
Um, and the the Lord really used that season in big ways in my life that I had an abundance of time to be in God's word.
00:13:01.600 --> 00:13:03.360
Um, I was around other Christians.
00:13:03.440 --> 00:13:07.519
Um, so a lot of that time I uh spent at Callie's parents' basement and they let me stay with them.
00:13:07.600 --> 00:13:12.879
Um, but then um attending in whatever way we could, Rock Point Church, a really solid gospel preaching church.
00:13:13.120 --> 00:13:18.399
Um uh Callie's dad has the little Greg Gilbert's book, What is the gospel?
00:13:18.480 --> 00:13:25.600
Um, around other people, like uh understanding, oh my goodness, I actually am a sinner and I need I I don't just need to get a little bit better at what it means to be a Christian.
00:13:25.759 --> 00:13:31.039
I actually need Jesus to take my sin, to pay the penalty for my sin, and that and that's what he's done for me on the cross.
00:13:31.120 --> 00:13:43.360
Like that I would have maybe known bits and pieces of I couldn't probably piece together in that the idea of like repentance, of turning over my sin, turning to Christ, trusting in him, resting in him would have been just vague things in my life.
00:13:43.519 --> 00:13:52.720
Um, and I think even too, just uh idols in my heart getting pulled up and uh recognizing so and I don't know exactly it sometime in this COVID season, I I do think I became a Christian.
00:13:52.879 --> 00:14:03.759
Honestly, just so Jeff I we talked about the sum, but Jeff preached a sermon at Rock Point of how we wrongly build our lives on things that are actually uh are not capable of carrying our burdens, and we actually are crushing those things.
00:14:03.840 --> 00:14:19.519
We keep on putting weight onto most of the time a relationship or maybe kids or maybe a job or some sort of false God that we're putting such weights, burdens that we expect them to be our whole source of joy, our whole source of life, and we're crushing this person or this thing.
00:14:19.679 --> 00:14:24.159
And I'm uh and I'm sitting there, I'm like, man, I'm kind of building my life on Cali in a sense.
00:14:24.240 --> 00:14:33.919
And and and and your but your call was, well, we need to build our lives on Jesus, that he actually is the one who's who's gonna carry our burdens, and he actually is strong enough to do so.
00:14:34.080 --> 00:14:37.919
Um, somehow in in that season, I think the Lord saved me.
00:14:38.000 --> 00:14:40.879
And I um realized, oh, I actually I need Jesus.
00:14:41.039 --> 00:14:43.279
And um uh, you know, always messy.
00:14:43.360 --> 00:14:46.720
I think I wouldn't have told you that I wouldn't have told you, oh, I became a Christian then.
00:14:46.799 --> 00:14:58.639
Yeah, it was then months l-month later that I was like, wait a minute, I wasn't a Christian before, and now I am, and that it took some time to discern and even an excitement about ministry I had in that season.
00:14:58.720 --> 00:15:01.919
I think in some ways I just became a Christian is what it really was.
00:15:02.000 --> 00:15:05.120
I was like, oh, I'm excited, and um uh thankful to get to serve now.
00:15:05.279 --> 00:15:08.960
Oh, I'm gonna listen back to this and be like, I'd probably explain this poorly in ways.
00:15:09.679 --> 00:15:10.080
Yeah.
00:15:10.320 --> 00:15:16.480
So and as someone who got to walk with you through a decent amount of that, just super encouraged to see that too.
00:15:16.559 --> 00:15:20.159
And I think a lot of us could say, you know, man, yeah, yeah, we see what the world is.
00:15:20.320 --> 00:15:24.399
I remember I was sitting at a picnic table with you and Doug King, yeah, and uh we were talking about baptism.
00:15:24.480 --> 00:15:30.559
And we're talking about like, oh yeah, like when you you become like we are Baptist church, we when you get saved, then you get baptized.
00:15:30.639 --> 00:15:33.919
And I was like, wait a minute, I probably need to get baptized.
00:15:35.120 --> 00:15:38.639
I got baptized at Castleview then and um super thankful for that.
00:15:38.720 --> 00:15:39.919
And it's really sweet.
00:15:40.080 --> 00:15:41.120
Yeah, it's awesome, man.
00:15:41.519 --> 00:15:44.639
Uh, what do you guys do here at the Fields Church?
00:15:44.960 --> 00:15:45.679
Brayden.
00:15:46.639 --> 00:15:47.840
Uh a lot of things.
00:15:48.000 --> 00:15:50.639
Uh anything that Jeff asked me to do.
00:15:51.840 --> 00:15:53.919
That's why I often say whatever Jeff needs me to do.
00:15:54.080 --> 00:15:54.320
Uh yeah.
00:15:54.559 --> 00:16:01.840
I I'm the associate pastor, which means that I primarily give oversight in areas such as discipleship.
00:16:01.919 --> 00:16:06.799
So, like our growth groups, um, our classes, um, also missions.
00:16:06.960 --> 00:16:07.279
Yep.
00:16:07.519 --> 00:16:25.600
And then I preach typically the next most after Jeff, um, get the opportunity to do that, and then have a lot of opportunities to just uh meet with and spend time with members, um, incoming members, doing membership interviews, things like that, and then also obviously uh getting to know and spend time with our members and shepherd them.
00:16:25.679 --> 00:16:28.240
So all sorts of other things, but those are the main areas.
00:16:28.320 --> 00:16:28.960
Yeah, yeah.
00:16:29.120 --> 00:16:33.039
Uh Braden real, I mean, is the we just have two staff pastors.
00:16:33.120 --> 00:16:38.000
We have two lay elders, lay pastors, but two guys on staff, uh Braden and I.
00:16:38.080 --> 00:16:40.320
And so, yeah, in some ways, it is true.
00:16:40.480 --> 00:16:42.879
Whatever I don't do, you do, whatever you don't do, I do.
00:16:42.960 --> 00:16:44.639
You know, we do together, those things like that.
00:16:44.720 --> 00:16:45.200
So yeah.
00:16:45.360 --> 00:16:49.360
And then there's Joe, who also does a lot of things in a similar vein.
00:16:49.759 --> 00:16:50.320
What do I do?
00:16:50.399 --> 00:16:50.799
Yep, yeah.
00:16:50.960 --> 00:16:52.559
Well, my title's pastoral assistant.
00:16:52.639 --> 00:16:56.320
I think that means a lot of different things at a lot of different churches use that title.
00:16:56.559 --> 00:16:57.519
Um, I don't know.
00:16:57.600 --> 00:17:01.679
I often like follow that up with a pastor training role of sorts, yep.
00:17:01.759 --> 00:17:03.440
Um, while also doing things too.
00:17:03.519 --> 00:17:08.880
But I'm uh uh, I mean, technically a full-time seminary student too at Indianapolis Theological Seminary.
00:17:09.119 --> 00:17:11.599
Lord willing, I'll be done at the end of January.
00:17:11.839 --> 00:17:12.240
Who knows?
00:17:12.640 --> 00:17:13.839
Celebrations that will come.
00:17:14.160 --> 00:17:15.839
A big smile as you say that.
00:17:16.640 --> 00:17:19.279
Um so thankful to get to go to school there, though.
00:17:19.519 --> 00:17:21.359
Um, it's been a huge blessing for me.
00:17:21.440 --> 00:17:24.480
Um, and also hard, but like that's how a lot of life is a lot of times.
00:17:24.640 --> 00:17:24.799
Yeah.
00:17:24.960 --> 00:17:26.400
Um, and then yeah, main area.
00:17:26.480 --> 00:17:31.920
I think people know I mainly serve in leading student ministry, um, young adult ministry.
00:17:32.079 --> 00:17:34.319
Um I think those are maybe more formal ways.
00:17:34.480 --> 00:17:36.960
Service leading, everyone's while getting to preach.
00:17:39.440 --> 00:17:45.519
Other just I don't know, then there's just a lot of random things that come up, sending sort of emails, organize a couple things.
00:17:45.759 --> 00:17:46.880
There's always just little things.
00:17:47.039 --> 00:17:48.880
That's just kind of all sorts of jobs in that.
00:17:48.960 --> 00:17:51.039
But uh, and then I think in a sense, learning too.
00:17:51.119 --> 00:17:52.319
I sit in the elders' meetings.
00:17:52.400 --> 00:17:54.160
Yeah, sometimes you guys let me talk though, too.
00:17:54.240 --> 00:17:55.039
I'm thankful to get to talk.
00:17:55.119 --> 00:17:56.160
I'm probably not supposed to talk.
00:17:56.240 --> 00:18:00.880
I don't know, but I get to talk sometimes, but very happy for you and to share your wisdom.
00:18:01.759 --> 00:18:02.880
Yeah, that's kind of my job.
00:18:03.039 --> 00:18:07.359
I do feel like we have a staff, a little bit of the everybody does a little bit of everything, you know, in some ways too.
00:18:07.440 --> 00:18:15.359
Like we all have kind of major roles, but but have kind of specific things that we do, or just you know, everybody kind of jumps in and shares with.
00:18:15.440 --> 00:18:16.960
So um, guys, that's great.
00:18:17.039 --> 00:18:19.920
I mean, we and I our church is so thankful to have both of you guys serving.
00:18:20.079 --> 00:18:26.960
I particularly, as you know, because in some sense, I mean, Joe's been here from the beginning, but wasn't on staff with us until after a year.
00:18:27.119 --> 00:18:27.680
Um, obviously.
00:18:27.920 --> 00:18:28.240
Two years.
00:18:28.400 --> 00:18:28.720
Two years.
00:18:28.799 --> 00:18:29.599
Was it two full years?
00:18:29.680 --> 00:18:29.839
Yeah.
00:18:29.920 --> 00:18:32.319
And then Braden has just been on staff for a year.
00:18:32.480 --> 00:18:38.799
Um, and so it's one of those where you're like, oh man, like it's like honestly, it's hard for me to remember what it was like before you guys.
00:18:38.880 --> 00:18:43.119
Um, the Lord's just been so kind, both you and the rest of our staff, who's amazing as well.
00:18:43.440 --> 00:18:44.559
It's time to have some fun.
00:18:44.720 --> 00:18:46.880
Not that the rest of the the previous wasn't fun.
00:18:47.039 --> 00:18:49.039
Now we get to just ask more fun, more.
00:18:49.359 --> 00:18:50.559
You're more excited about these questions.
00:18:50.880 --> 00:18:51.279
No, no, no.
00:18:51.279 --> 00:18:52.000
I was really excited about those.
00:18:52.400 --> 00:18:53.599
I knew the previous ones.
00:18:53.839 --> 00:18:56.319
These is where I start to get out of my knowledge a little bit.
00:18:56.480 --> 00:19:01.440
So uh if we show up at a coffee shop, what what are you guys getting?
00:19:02.000 --> 00:19:04.160
I'm I'm for sure getting a pour over.
00:19:04.240 --> 00:19:04.480
Okay.
00:19:05.039 --> 00:19:06.240
Most likely Ethiopian.
00:19:06.480 --> 00:19:06.799
Okay.
00:19:07.039 --> 00:19:08.880
But yeah, definitely pour over.
00:19:09.200 --> 00:19:12.240
Ethiopian would be the region where the coffee is registered.
00:19:12.559 --> 00:19:14.000
Just for people that maybe aren't that fancy.
00:19:14.240 --> 00:19:15.119
I have no idea what I'm talking about.
00:19:15.279 --> 00:19:18.400
Because Joe, would you have known with an Ethiopian coffee?
00:19:18.640 --> 00:19:20.400
I mean, I know that coffee comes from a lot of places.
00:19:21.039 --> 00:19:22.160
I know where Ethiopia is.
00:19:23.119 --> 00:19:23.920
I can put it together.
00:19:24.160 --> 00:19:25.519
I'm not surprised to hear that.
00:19:26.000 --> 00:19:27.200
It doesn't matter to me as much.
00:19:27.440 --> 00:19:31.119
Do you have a we know that you're not the uh the coffee snob by any means.
00:19:31.279 --> 00:19:31.839
I'm not the coffee shop.
00:19:32.079 --> 00:19:33.519
Do you have a coffee shop order?
00:19:33.759 --> 00:19:37.920
Um, you know, um a lot of times, especially if I'm just meeting someone, almost always I'll get a black coffee.
00:19:38.240 --> 00:19:40.240
But that's just because I I like black coffee, it's good.
00:19:40.319 --> 00:19:43.359
But I will also get like a uh a hot vanilla latte.
00:19:43.440 --> 00:19:44.160
I like a lot.
00:19:44.319 --> 00:19:46.640
Um mocha's are good too.
00:19:46.720 --> 00:19:48.079
But I just don't get those as often.
00:19:48.160 --> 00:19:51.119
Yeah, those kind of like, oh, for celebrating, I'll get a vanilla latte.
00:19:51.519 --> 00:19:54.079
We're on vacation, we're getting vanilla lattes, something like that.
00:19:54.319 --> 00:19:59.200
Well, if we're going to a coffee shop, which coffee shop are you going if you've got a choice?
00:19:59.279 --> 00:20:03.680
And what's put, I give you one that is like we all could go to.
00:20:03.839 --> 00:20:08.799
And then if there's one that you're like, this coffee shop in this location is like the best thing I've ever been to.
00:20:08.880 --> 00:20:09.839
Maybe that's locally.
00:20:10.079 --> 00:20:12.799
But yeah, tell us if you got a favorite local coffee shop.
00:20:12.880 --> 00:20:19.839
But if you also have one that we need to visit outside uh this Indiana region, that that's that's fair game too.
00:20:20.160 --> 00:20:21.279
I want Braden to go first.
00:20:21.440 --> 00:20:22.240
Yeah, it sounds good.
00:20:22.480 --> 00:20:24.480
In this region, I would go indie coffee roasters.
00:20:24.640 --> 00:20:25.599
Okay, probably north end.
00:20:25.759 --> 00:20:27.359
I really like the north end location a lot.
00:20:27.440 --> 00:20:30.799
I like a lot of seating, just a nice, nice spot, super fun.
00:20:30.960 --> 00:20:32.319
So I like meeting people there.
00:20:32.480 --> 00:20:32.799
It's great.
00:20:33.039 --> 00:20:33.440
Awesome.
00:20:33.680 --> 00:20:43.680
Um probably further out, I can't that I can't think of a ton of other ones, but one of my favorites that uh my friend uh nickname that I always just call him is Gags.
00:20:44.160 --> 00:20:50.640
Uh and uh me and him became regulars at this coffee shop called Ghost Like Coffee in near Dayton, Ohio.
00:20:50.880 --> 00:20:54.799
We're in college at college and super great coffee shop, really good coffee.
00:20:54.960 --> 00:20:56.240
So if you're ever around there, okay.
00:20:56.400 --> 00:20:58.160
Better than indie coffee roasters?
00:20:58.400 --> 00:21:00.400
It's been so long that I don't know, but it's probably close.
00:21:00.480 --> 00:21:01.119
It's at that safe.
00:21:01.920 --> 00:21:02.079
Okay.
00:21:02.640 --> 00:21:03.200
Joe.
00:21:03.599 --> 00:21:04.559
I know it's tough.
00:21:04.720 --> 00:21:07.279
Uh yeah, I I like a lot of coffee shops.
00:21:07.359 --> 00:21:08.160
Some of the is value.
00:21:08.400 --> 00:21:10.400
I think the having some like space in them.
00:21:10.480 --> 00:21:14.480
So like some coffee shops are like a lot, but they're like right next to some other people is kind of tough in that.
00:21:14.559 --> 00:21:16.640
Um I do like the both indie coffee roasters are great.
00:21:16.799 --> 00:21:19.359
Tough thing about those is you have to very be very clear about which one you're meeting at.
00:21:19.519 --> 00:21:20.799
Yeah, they're both on the north side of Carmel.
00:21:21.119 --> 00:21:24.240
You're almost guaranteed that the other person's at the other one where you're beating.
00:21:25.200 --> 00:21:28.720
Callie and I went recently, which was really we've only been once, and so I think it's the right name.
00:21:28.880 --> 00:21:31.440
Is it Provider or Providence or It's Provider.
00:21:31.599 --> 00:21:31.839
Provider.
00:21:32.799 --> 00:21:34.799
Uh I'm thinking of what it's on City Row 38.
00:21:34.880 --> 00:21:39.440
It's actually what Grace It's what Grace said in the podcast, but I went provision?
00:21:39.599 --> 00:21:39.920
Maybe.
00:21:40.079 --> 00:21:43.279
Oh man, now I'm embarrassed because I said it as like I know which one you're talking about, though.
00:21:43.359 --> 00:21:44.079
It was really good.
00:21:44.240 --> 00:21:45.519
It was really it was good and sweet.
00:21:46.240 --> 00:21:46.880
Cool environment, I think.
00:21:47.039 --> 00:21:50.079
Cool places to sit and it was good.
00:21:50.240 --> 00:21:54.160
I think one of Steph's friends from Indiana Wesling actually like runs runs, owns it.
00:21:54.319 --> 00:21:54.720
Oh wee.
00:21:54.799 --> 00:21:54.960
Yeah.
00:21:55.119 --> 00:21:57.680
I'm I'm pretty easily happy in the coffee department.
00:21:57.839 --> 00:21:59.440
Like if we went to Starbucks, I'd be fine with that.
00:21:59.519 --> 00:22:00.960
Like I've I'm very fine with that.
00:22:02.319 --> 00:22:03.839
Neither one of you mentioned Rivet, but it's okay.
00:22:03.920 --> 00:22:04.240
I won't.
00:22:04.559 --> 00:22:05.680
I like I like Rivet too.
00:22:06.000 --> 00:22:06.640
Love Rivet.
00:22:06.799 --> 00:22:06.960
Yeah.
00:22:07.119 --> 00:22:08.160
Space going back to his.
00:22:10.240 --> 00:22:10.480
Yes.
00:22:10.559 --> 00:22:12.240
Now that's a different vibe for sure.
00:22:13.039 --> 00:22:14.880
I think that's the coolest shopping round.
00:22:14.960 --> 00:22:15.839
Uh, but it's not about me.
00:22:15.920 --> 00:22:16.480
It's not about me.
00:22:16.559 --> 00:22:17.200
Maybe a little bit about me.
00:22:17.519 --> 00:22:18.400
Least favorite food.
00:22:18.640 --> 00:22:19.519
Least favorite food.
00:22:19.759 --> 00:22:20.319
Can I can I go?
00:22:20.400 --> 00:22:21.359
Am I allowed to go first?
00:22:21.440 --> 00:22:28.000
I really my my my wife and her family love the um uh a cocktail sauce, like the was it the St.
00:22:28.160 --> 00:22:30.559
Elmo's cocktail sauce that has the horseradish sauce in it.
00:22:30.960 --> 00:22:33.920
The horseradish I would put in my least favorite food.
00:22:34.000 --> 00:22:35.519
It just doesn't seem fun at all.
00:22:35.599 --> 00:22:38.799
They're all if they listen to this, they are gonna roast me.
00:22:38.960 --> 00:22:39.920
But they all love it.
00:22:40.000 --> 00:22:42.640
And I'm just like, nah, I'll just give me some ketchup or something.
00:22:42.799 --> 00:22:43.039
I don't know.
00:22:43.519 --> 00:22:44.240
Yeah, definitely with you.
00:22:44.400 --> 00:22:44.799
That sounds awful.
00:22:45.359 --> 00:22:45.839
Thank you guys.
00:22:45.920 --> 00:22:47.279
Uh, real quick sub question.
00:22:47.440 --> 00:22:48.640
We've favorite candy.
00:22:48.880 --> 00:22:49.680
Least favorite candy.
00:22:49.759 --> 00:22:51.359
But does Brady need to go in his least favorite food first?
00:22:51.680 --> 00:22:52.559
Worst candy.
00:22:52.880 --> 00:22:53.279
For me?
00:22:53.440 --> 00:22:53.759
Yeah.
00:22:54.079 --> 00:22:56.079
Uh what's the worst candy?
00:22:56.240 --> 00:22:59.519
I'm thinking like maybe something that like sticks to my teeth a lot.
00:22:59.680 --> 00:23:00.559
I don't know.
00:23:00.799 --> 00:23:01.920
We'll give you still the time.
00:23:02.480 --> 00:23:03.039
Least favorite food.
00:23:03.359 --> 00:23:06.160
Answers for both these vegetables is the worst food.
00:23:06.319 --> 00:23:06.480
Amen.
00:23:06.880 --> 00:23:08.240
Uh, just the category.
00:23:08.400 --> 00:23:16.960
Pretty much there's a there's a number of vegetables that now in my much older age, uh, I've I'm okay to eat, and it's all right.
00:23:17.039 --> 00:23:18.000
They're pretty decent.
00:23:18.160 --> 00:23:22.240
But there's a number of them that you just lump the whole category, and I'm not I'm not gonna get into specifics.
00:23:22.480 --> 00:23:22.799
That's great.
00:23:22.880 --> 00:23:24.240
Vegetables great, agreed.
00:23:24.480 --> 00:23:26.480
Candy, bit of honey is the worst.
00:23:26.559 --> 00:23:26.640
Really?
00:23:26.960 --> 00:23:28.400
Oh, you use that as a sermon illustration, I think.
00:23:28.559 --> 00:23:28.960
At rock point.
00:23:29.119 --> 00:23:29.359
I remember that.
00:23:29.599 --> 00:23:31.680
If anyone listens to this, they're gonna know.
00:23:32.000 --> 00:23:32.240
Okay.
00:23:32.480 --> 00:23:36.559
I I just think it's the most average, dumb candy ever.
00:23:36.880 --> 00:23:37.119
Yeah.
00:23:37.279 --> 00:23:38.799
And it probably sticks to your teeth, too.
00:23:39.039 --> 00:23:39.200
It does.
00:23:39.440 --> 00:23:41.119
I think I think Joe would be with me on this.
00:23:41.200 --> 00:23:42.400
It's kind of worthless.
00:23:42.640 --> 00:23:43.119
I can't really think.
00:23:43.200 --> 00:23:48.880
You know, I think I'm always a little bit sad whenever you get some whoppers in like a Christmas or Easter like candy thing.
00:23:49.279 --> 00:23:50.319
Whoppers are really stale.
00:23:50.480 --> 00:23:52.160
Whoppers I just don't love either.
00:23:52.319 --> 00:23:54.720
Um I don't know, but they're not, I don't know.
00:23:54.799 --> 00:23:55.440
Um they're fine.
00:23:55.519 --> 00:23:56.240
Yeah, all right.
00:23:56.319 --> 00:23:58.640
These gotta be a little more rapid fire here.
00:23:58.960 --> 00:24:03.519
Book of the Bible that you'd most want to teach or preach or least want to teach.
00:24:03.599 --> 00:24:04.480
And can I go?
00:24:04.720 --> 00:24:09.279
I'm taking a class through like the Old Testament, but Job would be we we need to preach Job.
00:24:09.680 --> 00:24:12.720
And it'd be tough, it'd be interesting to do, but there's like Joe.
00:24:12.799 --> 00:24:18.400
If you want to take the mantle preaching Job out of preaching Isaiah in Revelation, I'm not touching Job for a while.
00:24:18.559 --> 00:24:22.160
I know that's a lot of repetitive when he's the the dialogue between the counselors and job is a lot.
00:24:22.720 --> 00:24:23.759
Job is awesome.
00:24:23.920 --> 00:24:24.880
Job is an awesome book.
00:24:24.960 --> 00:24:26.880
There's so like it, especially the start and the end.
00:24:27.039 --> 00:24:27.359
Okay.
00:24:27.599 --> 00:24:28.720
We we need to do job.
00:24:28.960 --> 00:24:29.119
Okay.
00:24:29.519 --> 00:24:29.680
Okay.
00:24:29.759 --> 00:24:29.920
All right.
00:24:30.000 --> 00:24:30.480
Well, I don't know.
00:24:30.720 --> 00:24:33.920
But also, that might be because I just studied it a bunch for like four days in a row.
00:24:34.160 --> 00:24:35.279
What do you not need to do?
00:24:35.519 --> 00:24:37.440
Which part of the which book of the Bible do you not like?
00:24:37.599 --> 00:24:42.160
I think you answered proverbs because Proverbs would be tough because you have so many, you know, one-line proverbs.
00:24:42.240 --> 00:24:42.880
How do you piece that together?
00:24:46.559 --> 00:24:48.000
Uh, you know, I don't want to.
00:24:48.079 --> 00:24:48.640
That's a tough.
00:24:48.960 --> 00:24:49.519
That's tough.
00:24:49.599 --> 00:24:52.160
I think I would just probably say Proverbs without thinking very much in that.
00:24:52.319 --> 00:24:53.200
That's that's that's okay.
00:24:53.279 --> 00:24:54.480
We'll we'll accept that answer.
00:24:54.640 --> 00:24:55.119
Yeah.
00:24:55.440 --> 00:24:57.599
Um most and least.
00:24:57.839 --> 00:24:59.039
Yeah, I think so.
00:24:59.200 --> 00:25:01.839
Least, I feel like I'd say, I mean, Job would be kind of close.
00:25:02.079 --> 00:25:02.559
Would be at least.
00:25:03.440 --> 00:25:04.240
Honestly, I think that would be a good thing.
00:25:04.480 --> 00:25:06.000
You have to do some big chunks in there.
00:25:06.240 --> 00:25:09.440
You can you could slow down at the start, big chunks in the middle, yeah, slow down at the end.
00:25:09.599 --> 00:25:10.400
So that would be a tough one.
00:25:10.480 --> 00:25:14.880
I I think another book that would be similar would be like uh like a first and second chronicles would probably be on the low end.
00:25:15.119 --> 00:25:15.599
That would be tough.
00:25:15.759 --> 00:25:20.240
For me, just a lot of the you know, yeah, especially when Kings and others are kind of similar.
00:25:20.400 --> 00:25:23.039
So that those would be some some ones that would be on the lower end.
00:25:23.279 --> 00:25:26.720
Top end, man, there's so many good books that I feel like I would want to preach.
00:25:26.799 --> 00:25:29.599
But this is how I'm excited to figure out my preaching.
00:25:29.759 --> 00:25:32.880
Well, I'm excited, maybe sneak peek for Jonah.
00:25:33.680 --> 00:25:35.039
That is, I think that's a reveal.
00:25:35.200 --> 00:25:38.160
Yeah, via the fact that uh that's our son's name.
00:25:38.319 --> 00:25:40.240
Yeah, uh, I think Jonah's an awesome book.
00:25:40.400 --> 00:25:42.160
Okay, and we may or may not be preaching that.
00:25:42.400 --> 00:25:44.799
Are you gonna be fighting for a few more of those sermons?
00:25:45.039 --> 00:25:45.359
Oh, yeah.
00:25:46.319 --> 00:25:46.799
Okay, all right.
00:25:46.880 --> 00:25:48.400
Well, we'll give you a few more in Jonah.
00:25:48.559 --> 00:25:49.119
See what happens.
00:25:49.279 --> 00:25:51.279
Guys, Jonah is probably coming in January.
00:25:51.440 --> 00:25:53.440
That's what it seems like at the Fields Church.
00:25:53.519 --> 00:25:54.640
Uh, favorite sport?
00:25:55.200 --> 00:25:56.000
Favorite sport.
00:25:56.079 --> 00:25:59.599
Uh, for really in the course of my life, baseball is my favorite sport.
00:25:59.680 --> 00:26:02.400
I played baseball forever that I really got maybe a little bit burnout on it.
00:26:02.480 --> 00:26:05.920
So maybe to watch now is football, but baseball really is my answer to that.
00:26:06.000 --> 00:26:06.720
That's the right answer.
00:26:06.880 --> 00:26:07.359
Basketball.
00:26:07.519 --> 00:26:08.160
It's an okay answer.
00:26:08.240 --> 00:26:08.880
No, we're an Indian.
00:26:09.039 --> 00:26:09.759
Come on, that's a great answer.
00:26:10.000 --> 00:26:10.720
That is a great answer.
00:26:10.799 --> 00:26:11.200
I agree.
00:26:11.279 --> 00:26:12.400
Uh, both of those are great.
00:26:12.559 --> 00:26:16.559
Uh let's do favorite fiction book.
00:26:16.799 --> 00:26:19.920
I need a favorite novel fiction book.
00:26:20.799 --> 00:26:22.480
You know, have you read a fiction book?
00:26:22.799 --> 00:26:23.839
We're both in the category of.
00:26:24.160 --> 00:26:27.599
Both of these guys just went like, I don't have anything in this.
00:26:28.319 --> 00:26:29.119
What is a fiction book?
00:26:29.359 --> 00:26:30.319
We're gonna pivot.
00:26:30.400 --> 00:26:34.720
Uh we're gonna go to favorite, apparently non-fiction book.
00:26:34.799 --> 00:26:42.160
Um, that we should you know, what's a book that you'd recommend to people uh in this you know, you should be like, oh, you should read this.
00:26:42.319 --> 00:26:42.799
This is really good.
00:26:42.960 --> 00:26:45.200
I read Christian and non-Christian both accept it.
00:26:45.359 --> 00:26:50.960
I say this many times, but um Michael Lawrence's uh this has been my answer, I think, three or four times to your favorite book, the conversion book.
00:26:51.039 --> 00:26:59.759
So if you do those little nine book marks series, it actually was helpful, even thinking about my testimony, helped for for me to give some language to the new life that I had in Christ.
00:26:59.920 --> 00:27:02.559
And uh very helpful, easy to read.
00:27:02.720 --> 00:27:04.480
Um that'd be one I put in there.
00:27:04.559 --> 00:27:06.720
I think also Impossible Christianity by Kevin Deoung.
00:27:07.039 --> 00:27:11.759
Rarely do I laugh out loud reading an introduction to a book, and it's also super helpful in theological ways.
00:27:12.000 --> 00:27:12.720
We had that as a staff.
00:27:12.880 --> 00:27:13.359
I think we did.
00:27:13.440 --> 00:27:13.599
Yep.
00:27:13.759 --> 00:27:14.079
Yeah.
00:27:14.319 --> 00:27:18.559
Uh stink, I mean, conversion, the yellow book, and that little nine mark series.
00:27:18.640 --> 00:27:20.480
But I that is a that is gold.
00:27:20.960 --> 00:27:21.519
It's so good.
00:27:21.680 --> 00:27:22.160
Yeah.
00:27:22.960 --> 00:27:28.880
I would say, I mean, kind of classic answer, but I this book I've returned to multiple times, Gentle and Lowly by Dan Orland.
00:27:29.119 --> 00:27:29.519
So good.
00:27:29.599 --> 00:27:30.960
Yeah, super helpful for me.
00:27:31.039 --> 00:27:32.319
Yeah, just knowing the heart of Christ.
00:27:32.559 --> 00:27:33.680
So thankful for that.
00:27:33.839 --> 00:27:36.720
I think it came out with a smaller version called The Heart of Christ.
00:27:36.880 --> 00:27:37.119
That's right.
00:27:37.200 --> 00:27:37.599
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:27:38.559 --> 00:27:40.000
Kind of just doing it for him right there.
00:27:40.319 --> 00:27:46.720
So that one, I I think um Rejoicing in Christ is a really good book by Michael Reeves, also that I just read.
00:27:46.799 --> 00:27:48.960
So, or not that long ago, a little bit a while ago.
00:27:49.039 --> 00:27:49.440
But yeah.
00:27:49.680 --> 00:27:51.759
When you taught on the doctrine of Christ, is that's right.
00:27:51.839 --> 00:27:53.279
That's that's I read that just before then.
00:27:53.440 --> 00:27:53.759
Love it.
00:27:53.839 --> 00:27:55.359
Uh, favorite time of year?
00:27:55.680 --> 00:27:56.240
Fall.
00:27:56.400 --> 00:27:57.359
It's coming up soon.
00:27:57.519 --> 00:27:57.920
That's so good.
00:27:58.079 --> 00:27:58.559
I can't wait, man.
00:27:58.720 --> 00:27:59.599
Hooded sweatshirt.
00:27:59.759 --> 00:28:02.480
I think I also like fall time, but I like a lot of the times of the year.
00:28:02.559 --> 00:28:04.400
Uh for Joe, he wears a hood and sweatshirt.
00:28:04.559 --> 00:28:06.079
Yeah, he's wearing the same thing almost all the time.
00:28:06.319 --> 00:28:06.960
I'm wearing a sweatshirt.
00:28:07.200 --> 00:28:11.920
He is wearing what I would wear this fall right now in a pretty warm room in the middle of the day.
00:28:12.160 --> 00:28:12.880
This little room gets warm.
00:28:12.960 --> 00:28:13.839
Are the office as a whole?
00:28:14.000 --> 00:28:15.599
If you turn the AC on, it gets a little chilly.
00:28:15.839 --> 00:28:16.640
I like to have a sweatshirt.
00:28:16.799 --> 00:28:17.440
Don't need a sweatshirt.
00:28:17.680 --> 00:28:19.200
Been fine in my polo and t-shirt.
00:28:19.279 --> 00:28:20.079
I'm wearing a t-shirt.
00:28:20.160 --> 00:28:21.119
We've been great.
00:28:21.359 --> 00:28:22.960
Um uh biggest.
00:28:23.200 --> 00:28:24.720
No, no, let's go to go-to snack.
00:28:24.880 --> 00:28:26.240
What's your go-to snack?
00:28:26.400 --> 00:28:29.200
What are we snacking on in the afternoon?
00:28:30.240 --> 00:28:31.279
Oh, in the afternoon?
00:28:31.359 --> 00:28:34.160
Yeah, that's that's that's probably a big, yeah, that's probably a key difference.
00:28:34.400 --> 00:28:35.680
Yeah, let's go for an afternoon snack.
00:28:36.000 --> 00:28:36.880
Afternoon snack.
00:28:37.119 --> 00:28:42.640
I would say historically for me, the snack that I would be most would be go to think about is just granola bars.
00:28:42.720 --> 00:28:44.720
Just yeah, they're so easy, they're good.
00:28:44.880 --> 00:28:46.559
I used to dip them in peanut butter.
00:28:46.880 --> 00:28:47.200
It's good.
00:28:47.440 --> 00:28:48.559
Oh man, nice call on that.
00:28:48.720 --> 00:28:52.559
So Abby and I have a little bit of a you know different understanding of snack.
00:28:52.720 --> 00:28:58.880
She thinks a snack is kind of like a particular kind of thing that you're supposed to have that that wouldn't be a dessert.
00:28:58.960 --> 00:29:00.799
I lump all desserts into snacks.
00:29:00.880 --> 00:29:01.359
Oh, okay.
00:29:01.599 --> 00:29:04.799
So when I think snack, the first thing that's coming to mind is all sorts of desserts.
00:29:04.880 --> 00:29:06.160
So I'm like, what dessert am I eating?
00:29:06.400 --> 00:29:09.359
So just for people who don't let me be clear and to help you out.
00:29:09.440 --> 00:29:11.599
Your wife's right that that's not a snack.
00:29:11.680 --> 00:29:13.599
No, we'll let you go ahead and answer the way that you can see.
00:29:13.759 --> 00:29:15.039
I'm gonna answer the way I'm gonna answer.
00:29:15.599 --> 00:29:19.599
Which is which is gonna be basically what my favorite food would be is like cookies.
00:29:19.759 --> 00:29:22.240
So I would I would eat cookies pretty much any time of the day.
00:29:22.480 --> 00:29:27.279
I was gonna tell Abby that she was, but now when you said cookie, I'm like, I'm gonna say that's the best snack to have it.
00:29:27.440 --> 00:29:29.920
Which is why our anniversary is gonna be a cookie bake-off.
00:29:30.079 --> 00:29:30.799
That's right.
00:29:31.119 --> 00:29:39.119
Guys, is there anything that we as a church that you haven't said yet or answered, you're like, oh man, they should know this about me.
00:29:39.440 --> 00:29:45.920
What's what's something, a last little thing that you're like, I bet you the church doesn't know this.
00:29:46.559 --> 00:29:49.039
And they would be maybe a little surprised to know it.
00:29:49.279 --> 00:29:52.079
What what anything that comes to mind in that area?
00:29:52.160 --> 00:29:52.799
What's what's something?
00:29:52.880 --> 00:29:54.079
Joe, you got something?
00:29:57.920 --> 00:29:59.839
We can only have dead air for so long.
00:30:00.000 --> 00:30:01.119
We can have a lot of dead air, I think.
00:30:01.359 --> 00:30:01.680
I don't know.
00:30:01.839 --> 00:30:04.160
I don't think in a podcast that works that way.
00:30:04.799 --> 00:30:06.000
Just put it on two times speed.
00:30:06.160 --> 00:30:06.559
It'll be fine.
00:30:06.640 --> 00:30:07.920
It'll be a lot less time, you know.
00:30:08.000 --> 00:30:08.640
It'll be okay.
00:30:08.960 --> 00:30:11.759
I could play some Jeopardy theme song or something in here.
00:30:12.160 --> 00:30:12.799
That's right.
00:30:13.039 --> 00:30:18.640
Uh man, I I feel like there's a lot of random things that I could think of about how like something that people wouldn't know about me.
00:30:19.039 --> 00:30:23.279
Just give me just so we're just trying to close this thing up with uh with a good thing that maybe somebody didn't know.
00:30:25.920 --> 00:30:26.799
That I like.
00:30:27.440 --> 00:30:31.599
Probably, I mean, I I just think of probably the first thing, couple two things about me.
00:30:31.759 --> 00:30:32.960
Running, really like running.
00:30:33.039 --> 00:30:33.599
Yeah, that's fun.
00:30:33.759 --> 00:30:33.920
Yep.
00:30:34.000 --> 00:30:35.359
Uh there's started a little run club.
00:30:35.519 --> 00:30:36.240
We have a little run club.
00:30:36.319 --> 00:30:38.319
So if you want to come out and run, let's talk to me.
00:30:38.400 --> 00:30:38.960
It'd be fun.
00:30:39.119 --> 00:30:39.920
Don't talk to me.
00:30:40.079 --> 00:30:41.440
Uh not Jeff.
00:30:41.759 --> 00:30:42.720
Um Joe.
00:30:43.039 --> 00:30:44.160
Have you been to the running club?
00:30:44.319 --> 00:30:45.440
I have not been to the running club.
00:30:45.519 --> 00:30:45.759
Thank you.
00:30:46.640 --> 00:30:46.960
Not there.
00:30:47.519 --> 00:30:48.720
Uh boy Joe.
00:30:49.039 --> 00:30:51.119
And then uh, I really like cities.
00:30:51.200 --> 00:30:55.920
Like, I think that's just a cool like I would love to visit almost any city in the world.
00:30:56.000 --> 00:30:59.279
I just think they're so interesting and unique.
00:30:59.440 --> 00:31:03.680
So, like, I'm thankful that we live closer to a city now in Indianapolis and that sort of thing.
00:31:04.160 --> 00:31:04.960
Real quick.
00:31:06.160 --> 00:31:07.519
That I've ever visited.
00:31:07.599 --> 00:31:08.640
Man, there's so many good ones.
00:31:08.960 --> 00:31:11.119
Just a good city that maybe you can recommend.
00:31:11.440 --> 00:31:14.000
Two cities that come to mind first are like Denver.
00:31:14.079 --> 00:31:14.400
Yeah.
00:31:14.640 --> 00:31:15.680
And then Seattle.
00:31:15.920 --> 00:31:16.720
Oh, that's great.
00:31:16.799 --> 00:31:18.079
Those are two, both on my list.
00:31:18.160 --> 00:31:19.039
Okay, Joe.
00:31:19.200 --> 00:31:19.839
Yeah, I don't know.
00:31:20.079 --> 00:31:22.000
I don't I haven't I it's tough for me to answer this.
00:31:22.240 --> 00:31:26.079
I think some of you wouldn't know about me, maybe that I think would be a fun thing to do.
00:31:26.160 --> 00:31:30.559
I think it'd be really fun to like build a log cabin with with some guys.
00:31:30.640 --> 00:31:31.920
It would be like that would just be.
00:31:32.160 --> 00:31:33.519
Joe, are you an outdoorsman?
00:31:33.680 --> 00:31:34.079
No, I'm not.
00:31:34.240 --> 00:31:39.759
But like I was a little bit surprised, but like if you want to build logs, do you kind of think it's gonna be like Lincoln logs?
00:31:40.240 --> 00:31:46.160
Um no, I and it would take a while, it'd be it'd be a tough thing to do, but I think that would just it just sounds so fun to do something.
00:31:46.480 --> 00:31:47.039
You need to watch.
00:31:47.119 --> 00:31:49.759
There's there's actually a dude perfect where they built a do they?
00:31:49.839 --> 00:31:50.640
Yeah, you need to watch it.
00:31:50.720 --> 00:31:51.599
You could get to see it.
00:31:51.680 --> 00:31:53.440
It looked really, really difficult.
00:31:53.759 --> 00:31:55.920
I'm sure it is, but it sounds so fun to me.
00:31:56.079 --> 00:31:56.400
Okay.
00:31:56.559 --> 00:32:02.880
Well, if there's anybody listening that would like to build a log cabin, maybe if we could get some land for the church, we build a little log cabin on it.
00:32:03.039 --> 00:32:03.440
There we go.
00:32:03.519 --> 00:32:04.480
And Joe's ready to go.
00:32:04.720 --> 00:32:06.240
It's a good it's a good spot to start, yeah.
00:32:06.480 --> 00:32:17.359
Guys, I I think probably that people can understand a little bit of why it you guys are just very fun uh to work with and um yeah, having a lot of fun.
00:32:17.440 --> 00:32:27.680
It was good to just kind of figure out a little bit more about you guys, really, especially to hear your testimonies and to think about how the Lord has worked in your life and saved you, and uh just really thankful for that and how both of you serve at the church.
00:32:27.839 --> 00:32:29.920
So I guess do I need to do the outro?
00:32:30.319 --> 00:32:30.799
You do need to.
00:32:30.960 --> 00:32:32.240
It's so hard to do the outro.
00:32:32.319 --> 00:32:33.759
I never know what to say in the intro.
00:32:34.000 --> 00:32:35.039
No, it's really not.
00:32:35.279 --> 00:32:40.079
Fields, we love you guys, and it is a joy to serve in ministry at this church.
00:32:40.240 --> 00:32:43.359
It's a joy, especially for me, to serve with these two guys.
00:32:43.519 --> 00:32:45.200
We hope you have a great week.
00:32:45.440 --> 00:32:46.319
Great outro.
00:32:46.400 --> 00:32:49.359
Yeah, we'll just record that, put that on there every time every time.
00:32:49.519 --> 00:32:50.799
See you, Fields notes.
