ÜBER DIESE EPISODE
Your “superpower” might not be something you need to hustle for. It might be the strength you already earned through being different, adapting, training, surviving, and showing up anyway.
We sit down with Noreen Noble, a self-trust coach and author of The Superhero Inside, to talk about what self-trust really means when life is messy. Noreen shares her journey from two decades in corporate life into coaching, and how grief, cancer treatment, and recovery reshaped the way she listened to her own body. We unpack her core belief: the quality of your life will never exceed the quality of the relationship you have with yourself, and why that truth changes how you make choices, set boundaries, and stop outsourcing your joy.
Then we go deeper into somatic coaching, nervous system regulation, and why mindset work can feel slow when your body still feels unsafe. Noreen explains how emotions live in the body, how numbing “negative” feelings can also numb joy, and how compassion makes curiosity safe. You will also hear her ACCA self-trust framework (awareness, curiosity, compassion, action) plus a practical way to speak to yourself more gently by picturing your younger self.
If you are craving more peace, confidence, and emotional clarity, press play, then share this with a friend who needs it. Subscribe, leave a review, and tell us: what is one small act of self-trust you will try today?

00:00:02.319 --> 00:00:04.559
Welcome to Create Harmony.
00:00:04.719 --> 00:00:14.080
This is a place where we slow down, we breathe a little deeper, and we look to discovering more peace and joy in the rhythms of our everyday life.
00:00:14.240 --> 00:00:18.079
We try to have meaningful conversations with fellow peacemakers.
00:00:18.399 --> 00:00:22.879
We explore simple practices and really live with greater intention.
00:00:23.120 --> 00:00:32.640
We try to notice the beauty that's all around us, and we make space for the quiet ways that God may be speaking to each and every one of us.
00:00:32.880 --> 00:00:38.399
So settle in, take a breath, and let's create a little more harmony together.
00:00:41.039 --> 00:00:46.240
Welcome to the Create Harmony Podcast, and I am your host, Sally Burlington.
00:00:46.320 --> 00:00:49.439
And today, guys, you're gonna love this.
00:00:49.600 --> 00:00:59.520
We have Noreen Noble with us, and she is a self-trust coach, and she's an author, and we're gonna touch on a little bit of superheroes, so I'll tease that.
00:00:59.600 --> 00:01:00.719
But welcome, Noreen.
00:01:00.880 --> 00:01:02.159
We're so excited to have you.
00:01:02.479 --> 00:01:04.159
Oh, I'm so excited to be here.
00:01:04.239 --> 00:01:09.040
I love to talk about self-trust and superheroes and all the good stuff.
00:01:09.280 --> 00:01:09.760
Awesome.
00:01:09.840 --> 00:01:15.359
Okay, well, let's dive right into what do you you call yourself a self-trust coach.
00:01:15.439 --> 00:01:18.000
So tell me more about what that means for you.
00:01:18.640 --> 00:01:20.159
Do you want the long story?
00:01:20.319 --> 00:01:21.840
You want the short story.
00:01:22.159 --> 00:01:23.599
Just give us the lowdown.
00:01:23.680 --> 00:01:24.640
Give us the great story.
00:01:24.879 --> 00:01:27.040
Well, I uh essentially I am a life coach.
00:01:27.200 --> 00:01:37.200
It came after being in corporate for 20 years, and I have a lot of a long story about how I hopped from vice president of marketing to a self-trust coach.
00:01:37.439 --> 00:01:48.239
But as I was coaching, I realized and I came up this theory that the quality of your life will never exceed the quality of the relationship you have with yourself.
00:01:48.879 --> 00:02:00.400
So no matter no matter how much you have or how much you do or how much you gain, if you don't have a good relationship with yourself, it's not gonna be what you want.
00:02:00.560 --> 00:02:03.519
And it's not gonna be you're not gonna be living the joyous life that you live.
00:02:03.599 --> 00:02:08.159
And so that's why I focused on self-trust, self-love.
00:02:08.400 --> 00:02:15.680
And it's more than pedicures, even though I'm a fan of a good pedicure, until they scrub that ball of your foot, then I go crazy.
00:02:16.000 --> 00:02:29.360
But I it's more about even just taking time, it's about loving yourself, giving yourself grace, about taking accountability for what you've done and for taking action for what you want to go forward.
00:02:29.520 --> 00:02:30.879
All that is self-love.
00:02:31.039 --> 00:02:32.719
So that's what I teach.
00:02:33.039 --> 00:02:34.159
That is awesome.
00:02:34.319 --> 00:02:42.159
And so you meet with individuals to do that, and then you also have classes, and I understand that you have a book that's coming out.
00:02:42.400 --> 00:02:44.080
I have a book that's coming out.
00:02:44.400 --> 00:02:46.560
Okay, tell us, tell us.
00:02:46.879 --> 00:02:56.560
As I was going through the coaching space, I would hear things like, oh, that's your superpower, you know, oh, Sally, you can really talk to people.
00:02:56.639 --> 00:02:57.759
That's your superpower.
00:02:57.919 --> 00:03:01.280
Or, and then I was like, What are these people saying?
00:03:01.520 --> 00:03:10.719
I grew up with only boys, and so I really know my superheroes, and so I was thinking to myself, what are they saying that's your superpower?
00:03:11.120 --> 00:03:24.000
So I try to like do some research and I researched over 150 popular superheroes, which by the way, there are so many superheroes out there, just to find out how they got their superpowers.
00:03:24.319 --> 00:03:26.960
Because are we telling people that's your superpower?
00:03:27.120 --> 00:03:30.319
Are we saying, oh, that's a talent or that's something that you trained for?
00:03:30.400 --> 00:03:32.879
Or what what are we saying when we talk to people about that?
00:03:33.360 --> 00:03:41.039
And when I looked at the way these superheroes got their powers, I found that there was a pattern of like nine different ways.
00:03:41.280 --> 00:03:46.000
And when I looked at them, I said, that's the same way we humans get our powers.
00:03:46.800 --> 00:03:47.199
Right?
00:03:47.360 --> 00:03:51.599
So the very obvious one is born different.
00:03:51.759 --> 00:03:53.360
So you know the mutants, right?
00:03:53.520 --> 00:03:53.680
Okay.
00:03:53.919 --> 00:03:55.759
They all have their they were all born different.
00:03:55.919 --> 00:03:57.599
They had a different thing.
00:03:57.840 --> 00:04:09.280
And at the time, in even in the movies and in the comic books, they are maybe criticized or actually they had to go to their own special school, even, and they were segregated and things like that.
00:04:09.439 --> 00:04:13.120
So what were you how were we different when we were younger?
00:04:13.280 --> 00:04:16.720
What made us different that actually has become our superpower?
00:04:16.959 --> 00:04:19.839
Well, for me, I've always I'm a Polynesian woman.
00:04:19.920 --> 00:04:29.519
You can't see me because we're on audio, but I'm a larger woman, and it was I've been like five and eight since I was, I don't know, 10 or 11.
00:04:29.839 --> 00:04:33.439
It wasn't awesome back then when I was taller than all the teachers.
00:04:34.480 --> 00:04:37.199
That was before the superpowers were activated.
00:04:37.519 --> 00:04:40.000
Yeah, that was when the superpowers were awkward.
00:04:41.680 --> 00:04:45.439
But what happened that came out of it, my bigness necessarily wasn't my superpower.
00:04:45.519 --> 00:05:00.079
I actually do have a story in the book that where it is, but what came out of that superpower is I learned to be funny or I learned to be more uh conversational so people would see me, not how tall I was or how big I was, right?
00:05:00.160 --> 00:05:03.519
So there's superpowers that come out of being different.
00:05:04.079 --> 00:05:06.879
Or for example, Superman.
00:05:07.759 --> 00:05:12.240
On his planet, he was normal, but when he came to our planet, he was extraordinary.
00:05:12.480 --> 00:05:17.680
So where have when we have been like grown up in a certain thing in a certain space?
00:05:17.920 --> 00:05:21.920
It could be culture, like you're, you know, your your culture.
00:05:22.160 --> 00:05:26.800
It could just be like maybe you're the only woman in a core in a boardroom.
00:05:27.120 --> 00:05:35.759
You're bringing your own uh something from your planet, your quote unquote planet, to another group in another space.
00:05:35.920 --> 00:05:37.360
So these are all superpowers.
00:05:37.519 --> 00:05:38.480
It goes on and on.
00:05:38.560 --> 00:05:40.399
It's training black widows.
00:05:40.480 --> 00:05:42.800
She didn't have any special powers, she just trained really hard.
00:05:42.959 --> 00:05:44.560
So what have you trained for?
00:05:44.879 --> 00:05:46.319
And we could go on and on.
00:05:46.639 --> 00:05:47.360
Very cool.
00:05:47.600 --> 00:05:48.240
I love that.
00:05:48.399 --> 00:05:55.839
I love the fact that it's that you've taken it that way and linked it to how we can access this for ourselves.
00:05:56.079 --> 00:05:57.360
I think that's amazing.
00:05:57.759 --> 00:06:07.199
But when we do that too, we can look at ourselves and be like, okay, yeah, they have the skin tight suit, great, and some really cool tools, but we are also superheroes.
00:06:07.439 --> 00:06:13.120
And we probably don't even realize that we are superheroes in people's lives and we never even knew it.
00:06:13.360 --> 00:06:13.680
Yeah.
00:06:13.920 --> 00:06:14.079
Right?
00:06:14.160 --> 00:06:14.240
Yeah.
00:06:14.480 --> 00:06:16.319
Just because we're showing up as ourselves.
00:06:16.480 --> 00:06:34.160
And that's what the book is about is about recognizing, not being different, just recognizing what you already have, and then really stepping into that, believing it through your mind and your body, through somatic and mindset practices, and then just being like, okay, I own this, and this is how I'm gonna show up.
00:06:34.399 --> 00:06:40.000
And you don't have to show up as a coach or as an Olympic athlete.
00:06:40.160 --> 00:06:44.079
You can just show up with the confidence that you bring something into that room.
00:06:44.240 --> 00:06:52.000
And when you do, it's it's it helps everybody, it gives permission to everybody else to also own what they have as well.
00:06:52.240 --> 00:06:53.279
That is lovely.
00:06:53.439 --> 00:06:54.079
That is lovely.
00:06:54.160 --> 00:06:56.319
Okay, I heard you say the word somatic.
00:06:56.560 --> 00:06:56.959
Yes.
00:06:57.199 --> 00:07:06.079
So I want you to talk a little bit about your how you define, you know, your connection with somatic healing and somatic practices.
00:07:06.319 --> 00:07:06.639
Okay.
00:07:06.959 --> 00:07:07.839
Because I love you so much.
00:07:07.920 --> 00:07:09.759
I'm gonna go back a little bit of time.
00:07:10.000 --> 00:07:10.240
Okay.
00:07:10.399 --> 00:07:10.720
That's good.
00:07:10.959 --> 00:07:15.600
And um I was in corporate for like I said before, a long time.
00:07:15.759 --> 00:07:17.759
And then my mom passed away.
00:07:18.319 --> 00:07:23.199
And then I, my kids started entering high school, and oh boy, are those the days.
00:07:23.519 --> 00:07:28.639
So I decided that I was gonna stay at home and my husband was now gonna go work because we were opposite before.
00:07:28.800 --> 00:07:30.079
So he goes to the workforce.
00:07:30.160 --> 00:07:31.199
I stay home.
00:07:31.519 --> 00:07:38.480
Weirdly enough, all the problems I thought I had because I was a working mom followed me as a stay-at-home mom.
00:07:38.720 --> 00:07:39.120
Like that.
00:07:39.199 --> 00:07:39.839
Yeah.
00:07:40.240 --> 00:07:44.160
You know, I was tied to doing and accomplishing.
00:07:44.240 --> 00:07:48.720
So then when I was a stay-at-home mom, I was PTO president, the head of all the booster clubs, all the things.
00:07:48.959 --> 00:07:50.240
I was still wasn't super happy.
00:07:50.319 --> 00:07:51.519
Then my dad passed away.
00:07:51.680 --> 00:07:55.120
And I was like, gosh, Noreen, there's like gotta be something more.
00:07:55.360 --> 00:07:58.319
So that was when my sister-in-law is like, you should be a life coach.
00:07:58.480 --> 00:08:00.560
And I'm like, oh girl, I don't even have it together.
00:08:00.639 --> 00:08:05.680
She's like, no, you should listen to this one, which I think is a trick for me to listen to a life coach.
00:08:08.639 --> 00:08:12.000
You need a life coach, and I'm gonna figure out how to- Yeah, I'm gonna figure out.
00:08:12.079 --> 00:08:13.120
She's so sweet.
00:08:13.199 --> 00:08:13.759
I love her.
00:08:14.000 --> 00:08:17.759
So I listened to this life coach, and she was a mindset life coach.
00:08:17.920 --> 00:08:19.680
I decided, oh my gosh, this is it.
00:08:19.759 --> 00:08:27.920
Because now I had been outsourcing my happiness to like how all these other people showed up, not taking responsibility for how I showed up.
00:08:28.160 --> 00:08:31.680
So I decided, okay, I'm gonna go to this life coach school.
00:08:31.759 --> 00:08:32.720
My sister-in-law joined me.
00:08:32.879 --> 00:08:34.639
We've became life coaches together.
00:08:34.879 --> 00:08:37.039
We decided that this is how it's gonna go.
00:08:37.120 --> 00:08:40.879
But there was something missing, and I just was like, no, I I I love this so much.
00:08:41.039 --> 00:08:43.840
So I got certified, it was a year-long thing.
00:08:44.159 --> 00:08:48.000
I started my practice, and then I got cancer.
00:08:48.639 --> 00:08:49.519
Oh, wow.
00:08:49.919 --> 00:08:51.200
I was like, oh.
00:08:51.759 --> 00:08:54.799
But my life, my mindset coaching helped me through that.
00:08:55.039 --> 00:09:08.080
And as I was sitting in the chemo chair, and the nurse were came in to remind me, when you go to the bathroom, make sure to flush three times because we don't want the toxicity of what you are flushing to get to the next person.
00:09:08.240 --> 00:09:10.159
I was like, what is happening?
00:09:10.320 --> 00:09:12.639
What am I pumping into my body?
00:09:13.360 --> 00:09:19.840
And it was right then and there, as I had mentioned before, I've always been a bigger girl and I haven't had the best relationship with my body.
00:09:20.000 --> 00:09:27.440
I always wanted it to be thinner, I wanted it to run faster, I wanted it to do things that, you know, it just wasn't built for.
00:09:28.559 --> 00:09:40.720
But there I was pumping poison in my body, and it was still, my heart was still beating, my lungs were still breathing, everything was still working, and I said to myself, I have to make peace with this body to thank it for everything it's done.
00:09:40.879 --> 00:09:53.120
And it was then, not too long after that, that I found the book, The Body Keeps a Score, about the amount of information and the amount of wisdom that we have in our bodies.
00:09:53.360 --> 00:10:07.039
And then I went through my six rounds of chemo and then my 28 rounds of radiation, and then two weeks after radiation, I started somatic coaching school, where I learned to that the mind is very important.
00:10:07.200 --> 00:10:25.840
Of course, we do have to manage our minds, but also I learned to listen to the wisdom of my body, to take the time and the movement and the breath that it needs so that I can hear what my body and my intuition of actually is trying to tell me.
00:10:26.080 --> 00:10:32.720
And that's what I meant with somatic coaching, because even if you do find your superpower, for if let's say you're like, okay, you know what?
00:10:32.960 --> 00:10:35.120
I am a great listener.
00:10:35.759 --> 00:10:37.600
Your mind will start attacking.
00:10:37.679 --> 00:10:38.399
Well, are you sure?
00:10:38.559 --> 00:10:39.919
Because sometimes you don't listen, da da da.
00:10:40.799 --> 00:10:57.200
But if you have your body on board, if you have somatically feel like I am a very good listener, I own this power, that will override the nervous system that's telling you, I'm not sure that that's what your power is, and all the things, and all the negative talk that comes.
00:10:57.440 --> 00:11:05.919
When you're so when you bring your somatic, when you bring your body online, it you like you can step into your power a lot, a lot more powerfully.
00:11:08.080 --> 00:11:10.159
Yeah, this is really, really resonating with me.
00:11:10.320 --> 00:11:16.960
Everything that you're saying is really resonating with me personally because I spent a whole long career as a stay-at-home mom.
00:11:17.360 --> 00:11:28.399
And during that time, I was particularly early on in those years, I was very much a list maker, an organizer, you know, I'm I was on top of it.
00:11:28.480 --> 00:11:30.879
I had it, I had crap together, you know.
00:11:31.200 --> 00:11:48.240
And at some point, I've shared this a lot in the history of the podcast and in the in the history of Create Harmony, that it I it dawned on me that I wanted my life to be peaceful, but that every to-do that I had had to do with something other than peace.
00:11:48.399 --> 00:11:59.519
None of it had anything to do with pointing me in the direction of peace because it was about organizing or personal finance or my children or PTA or, you know, all the things.
00:11:59.679 --> 00:12:00.720
You know, all the things.
00:12:01.519 --> 00:12:12.320
And it was a light bulb for me to think, okay, I am going to have to put some things in my field of vision that have to do with peace, some practices, some habits.
00:12:12.480 --> 00:12:20.559
And then it, you know, the long story short, we came to create harmony, which is all about the practices of peace and how to know yourself and how to connect with yourself.
00:12:20.799 --> 00:12:28.480
And also, what about your story resonates with me is that I have just started personally with a somatic coach here in the town that I live.
00:12:28.720 --> 00:12:33.039
I did not know that that was a thing until about a month ago.
00:12:33.360 --> 00:12:43.679
And I felt that I needed that because I feel like for me, what I've learned about my own body is that I like to hold all of the emotions in there.
00:12:44.240 --> 00:12:53.120
It's not that I feel I in my brain, it was that when I thought of holding emotions in your body, I was assuming that that meant, you know, anxiety, worry, whatever.
00:12:53.279 --> 00:12:55.600
No, I like to hold my excitement in my body.
00:12:55.759 --> 00:12:59.360
I like to hold my joy, I like to hold it just so tight.
00:12:59.600 --> 00:13:06.240
And I'm learning how to let that be more relaxed from from my somatic practices.
00:13:06.559 --> 00:13:08.080
I okay, I have a question for you.
00:13:08.320 --> 00:13:08.799
This is weird.
00:13:09.120 --> 00:13:09.919
Turk in tables.
00:13:10.320 --> 00:13:13.039
Have you when you started seeing your somatic coach?
00:13:13.200 --> 00:13:34.240
Did you, did you, I don't know, it's just like me, but your how did you think that you were able to kind of I guess heal is kind of a different word or purge or however, whatever method you were doing, but like did you think that it was slower or faster or how how was your well?
00:13:35.200 --> 00:13:36.879
Well, I've been one time.
00:13:37.120 --> 00:13:43.919
So I'm not sure the science experiment is finished yet, but I've been once.
00:13:44.080 --> 00:13:46.399
I am going to return later this week.
00:13:46.559 --> 00:13:48.399
Um, I'm supposed to go, you know, period.
00:13:48.559 --> 00:13:49.120
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:13:49.279 --> 00:13:50.559
Because it's a process.
00:13:50.799 --> 00:13:52.799
Because all those habits are in there.
00:13:52.960 --> 00:14:02.399
Like I've got all those habits already in there, and it's a process of retraining my brain on how to not hold all my joy inside and just let it out, you know.
00:14:02.639 --> 00:14:04.879
Um, so I I I don't know yet.
00:14:04.960 --> 00:14:07.519
It to be continued, uh, to be continued on that.
00:14:07.600 --> 00:14:11.840
So I ask because I like I was a mindset coach for a really long time, right?
00:14:11.919 --> 00:14:12.960
Well, not a really long time.
00:14:13.120 --> 00:14:19.360
It was a couple months, and then the year I was doing like cancer stuff, but I was still coaching.
00:14:19.600 --> 00:14:26.960
Um, and I had this one client that, and I'm not uh, you know, I won't give names and all that stuff, so it's totally fine.
00:14:27.039 --> 00:14:37.200
But I had one client who was coming back to me, and every week we were working on almost like the same thing because it was very hard for a mindset to change if you're not giving your body online at the same time.
00:14:37.360 --> 00:14:43.200
So as I was studying somatics and I had to do practicum, I was like, okay, we're gonna try a couple things.
00:14:43.440 --> 00:14:44.720
Will you be my guinea pig?
00:14:44.799 --> 00:14:46.240
This will be a free session for you.
00:14:46.559 --> 00:14:48.000
So she's like, great.
00:14:48.799 --> 00:14:56.879
It went so much more quickly that for a coach, I was like, oh wait, you're not gonna pay me anymore because now you're done.
00:14:57.120 --> 00:14:58.960
And it was so intense.
00:14:59.279 --> 00:15:05.200
When you can bring your mind and your body together, automatically your soul will come online too.
00:15:05.360 --> 00:15:12.480
And it was just a huge difference of being able to make that change because you're feeling it viscerally.
00:15:12.639 --> 00:15:14.399
You learn how to feel your emotions.
00:15:14.559 --> 00:15:17.759
The thing about emotions, how you said you like to hold on to it.
00:15:18.159 --> 00:15:19.440
I was the same way.
00:15:19.679 --> 00:15:31.360
The problem is, is I learned to build walls against the negative emotions because you know, good girls don't whine, we don't complain, we just power through, mamas don't have time to be upset or da-da-da.
00:15:31.519 --> 00:15:32.639
We we can't be mean to anybody.
00:15:32.799 --> 00:15:34.399
Like we just push all that down.
00:15:34.559 --> 00:15:41.679
The problem is that when you push all that down, you're also pushing down all the joy, the happiness, the fulfillment, the other everything.
00:15:41.759 --> 00:15:43.200
So you're not feeling anything.
00:15:43.360 --> 00:15:43.519
Yeah.
00:15:43.679 --> 00:15:45.120
And you think that that's good.
00:15:45.360 --> 00:15:46.320
No, no, no.
00:15:46.480 --> 00:15:54.879
Because you're mentally you're striving for joy, but you're physically pushing everything down, so you're never gonna get there, and it becomes an endless cycle.
00:15:55.039 --> 00:16:02.799
So, one, I want to applaud you and I want you to give yourself just a little bit of cheer and grace for yourself for taking the step and doing that.
00:16:02.960 --> 00:16:04.080
So we're gonna celebrate you.
00:16:04.240 --> 00:16:05.120
Yay! Thank you.
00:16:05.200 --> 00:16:27.360
Yeah, um, and then two is just like sitting in that feeling and just knowing, like, okay, do I want yeah, this is the problem sometimes people think that the pain of getting to joy is too painful because they don't want to have to feel through all the other things.
00:16:28.799 --> 00:16:40.240
And I just want to say to them that especially if it's very traumatic and you're if you're with somebody, if you're with a coach or a therapist or somebody, you don't have to do it alone, but it's worth it.
00:16:40.320 --> 00:16:50.399
It's worth getting past the uncomfortable to feel the joy, the peace, the serenity, the calm on the other side.
00:16:50.720 --> 00:16:51.759
For sure, for sure.
00:16:51.840 --> 00:17:00.559
And that and what I will say about my one session is you know, I've I've for years I am a spiritual director and have worked with a spiritual director, which is similar to coaching.
00:17:00.639 --> 00:17:02.399
You it's a one-on-one experience.
00:17:02.639 --> 00:17:04.559
And that is very life-giving to me.
00:17:04.799 --> 00:17:12.079
But going to a somatic coach was totally different in the sense that like when I got ready to go to bed that night, I felt like I had the best massage ever.
00:17:12.400 --> 00:17:13.920
And she had barely touched me.
00:17:14.000 --> 00:17:19.119
You know, I mean, it wasn't, it was just like so much was released, and that was just amazing.
00:17:19.279 --> 00:17:26.000
And I just think figuring out like it's pain when you were talking about the pain that you have to go through to get to joy.
00:17:26.079 --> 00:17:27.839
I mean, it's painful to hold all that.
00:17:28.000 --> 00:17:28.319
Yeah.
00:17:28.559 --> 00:17:31.039
Like holding that was causing me pain.
00:17:31.359 --> 00:17:36.720
So, you know, getting on the other side of it is going to actually eliminate some pain, hopefully.
00:17:37.359 --> 00:17:40.400
The problem is, is our nervous system is used to holding all that.
00:17:40.640 --> 00:17:40.720
Right.
00:17:41.200 --> 00:17:41.359
Right.
00:17:41.519 --> 00:17:48.880
So when we're saying to our nervous system, hey, we're gonna introduce you to something and it's gonna actually be better, our our nervous system's like, oh no, no, no, no, no.
00:17:49.039 --> 00:17:50.240
I know how to hold this pain.
00:17:50.400 --> 00:17:56.000
I don't want to learn how to hold joy or you know, celebrate and live in abundance.
00:17:56.079 --> 00:17:58.160
I don't no, no, no, that's that's dangerous to me.
00:17:58.319 --> 00:18:08.240
And so all that happens, but that's the beauty of doing all the work, not just mind, not just body, not just spiritual, but all the work together.
00:18:08.480 --> 00:18:09.759
Yeah, that's beautiful.
00:18:09.920 --> 00:18:10.720
That's beautiful.
00:18:10.960 --> 00:18:17.519
Okay, so do you have tips for people on how to learn to trust yourself more?
00:18:17.759 --> 00:18:23.680
As a self-trust coach, how do we sort of baby step ourselves in that direction?
00:18:24.160 --> 00:18:32.799
I have this um I have my my one of my things is I was funny.
00:18:32.880 --> 00:18:33.680
I'm like, should I do it?
00:18:33.759 --> 00:18:34.319
Should I make the noise?
00:18:34.480 --> 00:18:35.440
No, I don't make the noise.
00:18:35.519 --> 00:18:36.240
I'm gonna make the noise.
00:18:36.880 --> 00:18:46.720
So when you first have to be aware, like you have to uh uh part of the self-trust is like being like, you know what?
00:18:46.799 --> 00:18:48.319
I'm gonna name what I'm feeling.
00:18:48.480 --> 00:18:50.880
I'm feeling unsatisfied.
00:18:51.039 --> 00:18:59.200
And I know that it's bad for us to sometimes say that out loud, but we to really love ourselves, we have to acknowledge what we're really feeling.
00:18:59.759 --> 00:19:03.440
So it doesn't mean that like our husbands are bad or our children are bad.
00:19:03.519 --> 00:19:14.000
It's just like at this point in our life, I feel unsatisfied, or I feel uh tied down, or I feel I'm not being creative.
00:19:14.160 --> 00:19:21.039
Whatever it is, you have to name it to be able to even help it.
00:19:21.279 --> 00:19:28.559
And so when you do, when you get that awareness, I have it's ACC um awareness.
00:19:29.039 --> 00:19:33.519
You have to have curiosity and compassion.
00:19:34.400 --> 00:19:35.680
Oh, that's lovely.
00:19:36.000 --> 00:19:42.480
Because curiosity broadens your mind and compassion keeps curiosity safe.
00:19:43.759 --> 00:19:52.160
So if you're saying I feel stuck, and you can then curiously say to yourself, what?
00:19:52.400 --> 00:19:54.400
What's what's what's causing the stuck?
00:19:54.559 --> 00:19:57.519
And in that voice, not girl, what's what what do you complain about?
00:19:57.599 --> 00:19:58.160
What's wrong with you?
00:19:58.319 --> 00:19:58.799
What's wrong with you?
00:19:58.960 --> 00:19:59.359
Yeah, no.
00:19:59.519 --> 00:20:02.240
With the compassionate, what's like what's what do you think is stuck?
00:20:02.480 --> 00:20:05.839
Well, I'm not doing what my life purpose is.
00:20:06.000 --> 00:20:07.119
Okay, well, what why?
00:20:07.279 --> 00:20:08.400
Well, this is all these things.
00:20:08.559 --> 00:20:21.599
Okay, was that you know, just asking questions is the first thing to do, is because what's happening is is a lot of what we're doing is like like a plant in this tight soil, and we're rooted into what we believe.
00:20:21.839 --> 00:20:27.680
But in order to loosen that soil to like plant us in a different garden, we have to ask questions.
00:20:27.920 --> 00:20:38.079
Questions is the the the the loosening of that soil, and then feeling the answers, not just being like, Oh, wait, well, you know, mentally I it's this and this and this.
00:20:38.160 --> 00:20:39.279
No, like what do I feel?
00:20:39.440 --> 00:20:45.279
Oh my gosh, I feel I feel trapped, I feel, I feel sad, I feel disappointed in myself.
00:20:45.440 --> 00:20:46.240
Well, why?
00:20:46.480 --> 00:20:46.799
Okay.
00:20:47.119 --> 00:20:52.480
And then like the the honesty, honestly, that's self-love right there, that self-trust.
00:20:52.880 --> 00:20:56.240
Because now your your intuition is saying, oh, she's listening.
00:20:58.079 --> 00:20:59.839
You don't even have to do anything.
00:21:00.240 --> 00:21:02.559
And you're already trying to trust yourself.
00:21:02.720 --> 00:21:03.759
It's just the knowledge.
00:21:03.920 --> 00:21:20.799
So uh it is awareness with curiosity and compassion, and then you can take an action, and that is ACCA, which I used to be like a car, like that's why I thought maybe I shouldn't say it, but no, it's a car.
00:21:21.039 --> 00:21:25.279
It's like, oh, okay, uh, awareness, curiosity, compassion, and then I can take an action.
00:21:25.440 --> 00:21:25.599
Okay.
00:21:26.000 --> 00:21:31.200
Sometimes your action isn't gonna be any different than you would have taken prior.
00:21:31.599 --> 00:21:43.599
But now your body knows that you were it's been heard, your intuition knows it's been heard, and you say, you know what, I don't feel safe right now to make that decision, but I heard you, and I'm gonna still continue down this path.
00:21:43.759 --> 00:21:48.480
But then the next time you catch yourself, it might be a little bit easier to break that, break away a little bit.
00:21:48.720 --> 00:21:49.839
It starts small.
00:21:50.000 --> 00:21:56.160
You can't go from it's like you don't go from meeting someone and then getting married the next day.
00:22:00.160 --> 00:22:00.400
It is.
00:22:00.640 --> 00:22:02.000
Yeah, we that we're not those people.
00:22:02.240 --> 00:22:03.200
We're not those people.
00:22:03.440 --> 00:22:04.960
It's like you have to date yourself.
00:22:05.119 --> 00:22:07.039
You're like, okay, what do you like?
00:22:07.519 --> 00:22:13.680
Because you know, funnily enough, with all the women that I coach, often I ask, Well, what do you want?
00:22:13.920 --> 00:22:14.960
Well, I want my children.
00:22:15.039 --> 00:22:15.839
No, no, no, no.
00:22:16.079 --> 00:22:16.640
What do you want?
00:22:16.799 --> 00:22:18.880
Well, I would love it if my husband no, no, no, no.
00:22:18.960 --> 00:22:20.880
What do you want?
00:22:21.680 --> 00:22:29.759
And they have outsourced their joy to everybody around them, making sure everybody else is happy that they don't even know what they want.
00:22:30.160 --> 00:22:30.960
Interesting.
00:22:31.119 --> 00:22:31.680
Yeah.
00:22:32.079 --> 00:22:33.599
There's a lot to be said for that.
00:22:33.680 --> 00:22:38.960
I'm reading a book right now called The Magic of Knowing Exactly What You Want, or The Magic of Knowing What You Want.
00:22:39.039 --> 00:22:41.039
I I might have that title incorrect.
00:22:41.279 --> 00:22:57.519
But it is interesting how we don't attack we don't get as comfortable with knowing what we want, I think particularly as women, um as as would be desired, you know, if you could think more, what is it that I really want and dwell with that?
00:22:57.759 --> 00:23:00.640
That I think is a path to pay to peace right there.
00:23:00.880 --> 00:23:01.119
Yeah.
00:23:01.200 --> 00:23:07.839
And you know, a lot of people say that, oh, you know, women, if you say what you want, that's selfish.
00:23:08.160 --> 00:23:10.319
If a man says what they want, they're just determined.
00:23:11.359 --> 00:23:17.599
And so we have this thing where we we can't vocalize what we want because then we'll be considered like selfish or self-centered.
00:23:17.759 --> 00:23:18.880
No, no, no, no.
00:23:19.200 --> 00:23:20.319
No, no, no.
00:23:20.720 --> 00:23:22.079
We have to know what we want.
00:23:22.240 --> 00:23:28.960
We can still cater to other people, but we have to put ourselves in the in our in the room.
00:23:29.119 --> 00:23:29.599
Mm-hmm.
00:23:29.680 --> 00:23:30.079
Mm-hmm.
00:23:30.640 --> 00:23:32.960
Or we're never gonna find the joy, right?
00:23:33.279 --> 00:23:34.640
Yeah, I love that.
00:23:34.880 --> 00:23:39.039
So then your book about superheroes, your book has talks about superheroes.
00:23:39.200 --> 00:23:43.039
Power I'm gonna circle back to that, is going to come out.
00:23:43.200 --> 00:23:44.559
It's not quite out.
00:23:44.720 --> 00:23:45.440
Is that right?
00:23:45.759 --> 00:23:48.160
Yeah, uh, hopefully by the end of September.
00:23:48.319 --> 00:23:50.319
So it depends on when this podcast comes out.
00:23:50.559 --> 00:23:52.559
It will be out, yeah.
00:23:52.720 --> 00:23:56.079
Yes, on Amazon called The Superhero Inside.
00:23:56.319 --> 00:23:56.640
Okay.
00:23:56.880 --> 00:24:00.160
I uh I'm excited for it to come out.
00:24:00.400 --> 00:24:05.119
I think that um it's it's written towards women because that's my life experience.
00:24:05.599 --> 00:24:07.599
But I've had uh my brother read it.
00:24:07.759 --> 00:24:12.079
I mean, of course he's my brother, but he he got out a lot out of it too.
00:24:12.319 --> 00:24:17.680
I what happens is in the first the first part of the book is about defining your origin story.
00:24:17.920 --> 00:24:18.160
Okay.
00:24:18.400 --> 00:24:23.920
Basically finding which path of those nine different frameworks you fit into.
00:24:24.319 --> 00:24:29.200
And I really think it's very, very important that we know our origin story.
00:24:29.359 --> 00:24:32.559
So if you're are you a Marvel fan, I'm not sure if you are.
00:24:32.799 --> 00:24:34.240
Uh and I'm familiar, yeah.
00:24:34.720 --> 00:24:34.880
Okay.
00:24:35.359 --> 00:24:35.519
Yeah.
00:24:35.839 --> 00:24:39.039
So um I don't know if you remember Loki.
00:24:39.519 --> 00:24:41.039
He was kind of like an anti-hero.
00:24:41.440 --> 00:24:45.279
He was Thor's less musly, less Australian brother.
00:24:45.519 --> 00:24:53.279
Okay, so he comes in the scene and the first thing, and you just oh, oh, he's definitely he's a villain through and through.
00:24:53.519 --> 00:24:55.759
Yeah, he's like causing trouble, blah, blah, blah.
00:24:55.920 --> 00:24:56.240
Right.
00:24:56.480 --> 00:25:02.720
Then he comes with his own movie that explains his backstory, and you're like, oh, he was adopted.
00:25:02.880 --> 00:25:04.960
Oh, he was never treated really well.
00:25:05.200 --> 00:25:10.720
Oh, and you start to have compassion for him, and all of a sudden he kind of becomes a hero to you.
00:25:10.960 --> 00:25:14.319
That's the same way with understanding your own origin stories.
00:25:14.480 --> 00:25:17.680
Some of us think, oh, we're just, oh, you know what, I'm bossy.
00:25:18.079 --> 00:25:25.440
But if we don't take time to look back at what made us bossy, oh, we're the oldest girl child and we did have to take care of everybody, and da-da-da.
00:25:25.839 --> 00:25:26.880
I understand now.
00:25:27.039 --> 00:25:33.839
Now I can have more compassion and understanding my origin story from what I have or what I've I've done.
00:25:34.160 --> 00:25:46.160
And that's why I the first part of the book is dedicated to like finding out what your powers are and what your origin story is, mostly so you can have some great compassion and grace for yourself.
00:25:46.400 --> 00:25:47.680
Yeah, I love that part.
00:25:47.759 --> 00:25:58.400
And even just thinking about my own very beginning of somatic coaching, you know, I noticed myself doing the things that I do, holding holding the emotions in my body.
00:25:58.559 --> 00:26:01.279
And I haven't maybe been that compassionate.
00:26:01.440 --> 00:26:10.000
Maybe I needed to like notice that and say, not you're doing it again, don't do that, you know, but to say, okay, here's what you can do.
00:26:10.160 --> 00:26:11.279
You can reset, you know.
00:26:11.359 --> 00:26:16.000
I mean, a more compassionate approach would probably be more ideal.
00:26:16.160 --> 00:26:16.240
Yeah.
00:26:16.640 --> 00:26:17.680
Well, here's a little tip for that.
00:26:18.160 --> 00:26:21.440
Yeah, you'll yeah, give yourself, yeah, to give yourself time.
00:26:21.680 --> 00:26:28.480
The first uh my my somatic training was on about uh eight months, and the first three months was all about ourselves.
00:26:28.640 --> 00:26:30.079
We had to do it to ourselves first.
00:26:30.480 --> 00:26:37.119
And so my little trick was I found a picture of myself when I was a little child, and I put it by my computer.
00:26:37.359 --> 00:26:44.079
So anytime I decided that I was gonna be mad at myself or something, I looked at her and I was like, I would never talk to her like that.
00:26:44.319 --> 00:26:45.119
Oh, very good.
00:26:45.200 --> 00:26:47.359
I will never talk to her like that.
00:26:47.680 --> 00:27:11.359
So that helps you start your self-compassion a little bit when you realize that most of our protective patterns and most of our like quote unquote weaknesses or whatever comes from that little person had to make some decisions when she was three to seven to ten years old that has caused those patterns.
00:27:11.599 --> 00:27:12.240
I see.
00:27:12.559 --> 00:27:16.960
And I would never tell her the things that I used to say to myself, right?
00:27:17.200 --> 00:27:19.119
That's a great, that's a great way to do it.
00:27:19.279 --> 00:27:25.519
Just to kind be kind and you know, yeah about and and even just thinking about like I would never even do that to my adult.
00:27:25.599 --> 00:27:32.079
Like just how would you treat your beloved child, pet kit, you know, something you care about a lot.
00:27:32.240 --> 00:27:32.400
Yeah.
00:27:34.000 --> 00:27:34.720
I like that.
00:27:34.880 --> 00:27:36.960
That's a great, that's a great idea.
00:27:37.200 --> 00:27:39.519
So this is just so exciting.
00:27:39.599 --> 00:27:42.319
I feel like, oh, I can't wait to get into the superhero.
00:27:42.400 --> 00:27:43.920
I want to know what is my origin story.
00:27:44.079 --> 00:27:46.000
I'm trying to think, what is my origin story?
00:27:46.079 --> 00:27:48.799
I'm not sure, but I'll be ready to read that one.
00:27:49.039 --> 00:27:58.480
Well, there is also um I well in the book, so in that first part of the book, I give a a a superhero kind of a background.
00:27:58.640 --> 00:28:02.400
Um, some superpowers you may have if you kind of align with that superhero.
00:28:02.559 --> 00:28:02.799
Okay.
00:28:03.119 --> 00:28:13.839
I give a personal story that uh goes, and then I highlight two people from the world, either history or currently, that are those kind of heroes.
00:28:14.079 --> 00:28:18.079
And then I have some reflective questions, and then that goes through the nine different ones.
00:28:18.240 --> 00:28:20.880
By the way, most of us are multiple origins stories.
00:28:21.119 --> 00:28:24.000
So know that you have multiple because you have multiple powers.
00:28:24.160 --> 00:28:26.799
We're not just so we're not just so one trick pony, guys.
00:28:27.359 --> 00:28:28.640
We can do a lot of different things.
00:28:28.960 --> 00:28:29.440
I love it.
00:28:29.680 --> 00:28:34.319
So we so it's going through and just recognizing and finding compassion for yourself.
00:28:34.480 --> 00:28:50.319
And then the second part of the book is once you've identified your powers, then the second part of the book take tells you about the nervous system, like why you might not think they're their powers, or why when you decide that they're your powers, your nervous system's like, uh, I don't think so.
00:28:50.480 --> 00:29:00.160
And how to handle the villains in your life, which sometimes is your inner critic, and like how to like get past it, somatic practices to like really feel it.
00:29:00.319 --> 00:29:06.079
And then the third part of the book is saying, All right, you know your power, you feel your power.
00:29:06.240 --> 00:29:07.519
How are you gonna put it in the world?
00:29:07.680 --> 00:29:11.519
And it doesn't have to be your new business, it could just be, you know what?
00:29:11.759 --> 00:29:18.880
As the room mom, I'm gonna walk in and know that I have a talent for seeing people as they are.
00:29:19.200 --> 00:29:21.920
So I'm just gonna see little kids as they are, right?
00:29:22.240 --> 00:29:29.279
Whatever your talent is, when you walk into rooms, now you're like, you know what, that's this is what I'm really good at, and this is what I'm gonna like hone in on.
00:29:29.759 --> 00:29:44.160
There's an energy, and if we want to talk about energy or whatever, a spirit or whatever it however you want to call it, but there is an energy that can that it is multiplied once someone is authentic, right?
00:29:44.400 --> 00:29:45.599
Standing in their authenticity.
00:29:45.680 --> 00:29:56.480
I think Brene Brown said that that it's like the opposite of it was like authenticity is the thing that actually makes people it's better than joy.
00:29:56.720 --> 00:29:57.839
Yeah, absolutely.
00:29:58.000 --> 00:29:58.799
Yeah, absolutely.
00:29:59.039 --> 00:30:07.279
And so when you're really authentically standing in your power, there's so much you can do, not just for yourself, but for everybody around you.
00:30:07.519 --> 00:30:14.240
So taking the time to look at yourself is actually helping everyone else.
00:30:14.400 --> 00:30:15.200
So it's not.
00:30:15.599 --> 00:30:25.119
Well, and I'm just picturing, I'm thinking as you're talking, like if everyone shows up and sees, you know, like in their own power, like that's amazing.
00:30:25.279 --> 00:30:33.759
It'd be like when you're I mean, I'm dating myself, but when we were kids and there was like the the superhero headquarters or whatever, and they were all in there.
00:30:33.920 --> 00:30:35.359
I mean, that's what this can be like.
00:30:35.440 --> 00:30:36.480
Everybody's in the superhero.
00:30:36.880 --> 00:30:39.599
Justice League and whatever, yeah, there that's what it is.
00:30:39.680 --> 00:30:40.480
You know the name of it.
00:30:42.720 --> 00:30:49.599
Yeah, you you know, it could be we could create a world like that if we all were able to show up in our own power and that yes.
00:30:50.319 --> 00:30:56.799
Because I'll go back to what I said at the very beginning: the quality of our lives will never exceed the quality of the relationship with ourselves.
00:30:56.880 --> 00:31:02.480
But if we're having a good quality of relationship with ourselves, it's elevating.
00:31:02.559 --> 00:31:06.720
I feel like if everybody just loved themselves, we wouldn't have all these problems.
00:31:06.960 --> 00:31:07.599
Yes, for sure.
00:31:07.920 --> 00:31:15.440
If everyone saw themselves for the divine creatures that they are, yeah, we would not have all this stuff happening.
00:31:15.680 --> 00:31:16.640
Yeah, that's amazing.
00:31:17.119 --> 00:31:17.759
I love that.
00:31:18.000 --> 00:31:20.079
Okay, so we're to the point in the podcast.
00:31:20.160 --> 00:31:24.079
I always ask my guests this if is there anything that we missed?
00:31:24.160 --> 00:31:33.359
Is there anything about your story or about your the things that you do, the self-trust coaching that you do that you want to share that we haven't touched on yet?
00:31:34.400 --> 00:31:35.519
We touch on a lot.
00:31:35.599 --> 00:31:36.960
You're very thorough.
00:31:37.279 --> 00:31:39.279
So And then it might not be.
00:31:39.359 --> 00:31:40.640
There's not always something that we miss.
00:31:40.720 --> 00:31:44.799
I'm just well, there's always there's there's there's a ton to talk about.
00:31:45.119 --> 00:32:01.039
But I'll say this whether or not it is with me or a somatic coach or any other coach or however, just take time today, especially after you listen to this episode, to thank yourself for listening to this episode episode.
00:32:01.359 --> 00:32:02.160
That is lovely.
00:32:02.640 --> 00:32:15.759
Give yourself a little bit of love and compassion and maybe picture yours picture that little version of you, the five, the seven-year-old, and just tell her, him that you love them.
00:32:16.319 --> 00:32:17.440
That's beautiful.
00:32:17.680 --> 00:32:18.640
That is beautiful.
00:32:18.720 --> 00:32:19.279
I love that.
00:32:19.440 --> 00:32:20.799
That's just perfect.
00:32:21.039 --> 00:32:22.319
Well, thank you, Noreen.
00:32:22.480 --> 00:32:23.440
This has been amazing.
00:32:23.519 --> 00:32:24.799
I loved every second of it.
00:32:24.960 --> 00:32:27.599
I just I know it's gonna, I cannot wait.
00:32:27.759 --> 00:32:30.720
I'm literally right on the edge of my seat for that superhero book.
00:32:30.799 --> 00:32:32.319
I think it's gonna be so great.
00:32:32.640 --> 00:32:33.759
And oh, thank you.
00:32:33.920 --> 00:32:34.240
I love it.
00:32:34.319 --> 00:32:34.640
I love it.
00:32:34.880 --> 00:32:36.079
I love this conversation too.
00:32:36.160 --> 00:32:42.960
You're I I love it when the host knows and can and feels and knows exactly what I'm talking about.
00:32:43.119 --> 00:32:49.920
I love that you have that experience and that you're you're doing this to bring joy and peace to people's lives.
00:32:50.240 --> 00:32:50.720
Absolutely.
00:32:50.880 --> 00:32:56.720
Yeah, and we hope that I mean, like I said, I didn't even know that there was such a thing as a somatic coach about until about a month ago.
00:32:56.799 --> 00:33:03.599
So hopefully more people will learn about that and learn about you, and you know, we can all show up in our superhero powers.
00:33:03.680 --> 00:33:11.440
I'm looking forward to have uh, you know, read the book and have superhero powers, send me a picture of you in your cape.
00:33:11.519 --> 00:33:12.160
I'd love to see it.
00:33:12.400 --> 00:33:12.960
There we go.
00:33:13.119 --> 00:33:13.680
I love that.
00:33:13.839 --> 00:33:14.559
That's adorable.
00:33:14.720 --> 00:33:15.519
That's adorable.
00:33:15.759 --> 00:33:17.839
All right, well, thank you so much, Noreen.
00:33:17.920 --> 00:33:18.400
Thank you.
00:33:18.720 --> 00:33:19.680
Thank you.
00:33:25.279 --> 00:33:33.440
As you step back into the rhythm of your day, remember that creating harmony and peace does not require big changes.
00:33:33.680 --> 00:33:36.559
It can begin with one small choice.
00:33:36.720 --> 00:33:40.559
Maybe the choice to slow down a little bit, notice what's good.
00:33:40.880 --> 00:33:50.160
Maybe it's just making a little bit more room in your day for joy, or simply being still enough to notice right where God is meeting you.
00:33:50.880 --> 00:33:54.480
Keep making space for peace, play, and possibility.
00:33:54.640 --> 00:33:56.960
And until next time, peace.
