00:00:06
Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to the season and what? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Let me restart the regular season.
00:00:13
Speaker 2: Regular season.
00:00:15
Speaker 1: This is a show about the Milwaukee Brewers and the Milwaukee Brewers, Cork Enable and J.P. FireEisen are going to the postseason. Therefore, their season has between like a week and a half and a whole month plus left. I'm your host, Kurt Hogue. Thanks for tuning in to this episode. brewer territory guys the regular season as we just referenced is complete uh 103 and 59 is the record read that again it's right there on the screen 103 and 59 jace holy crap how about that that's a lot of wins what a year a lot of wins yeah jp and i spent some good time on the last episode um Just giving some credit, talking about winning 100, I think it was 101 games maybe at that point. So we don't need to go all the way into that stuff. But you know what? The regular season is over. And when the regular season is over, one of the things I just love about it, kind of nerdy, is the numbers are done. There's no more change. That's the numbers that are going to be on your baseball card page forever.
00:01:33
Speaker 3: That's your baseball card.
00:01:35
Speaker 2: That's your 2026 baseball card.
00:01:37
Speaker 1: So let's take a look at some of these team leaders. You can see it on your screen. Jackson Churio hit 291 this year. Bryce Terang at 268 there. William Contreras 270.
00:01:51
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:01:51
Speaker 1: Like the Brewers, I know, you know, 30 years ago, these batting average would probably be like whatever. But in today's game to have four guys. Over 260, including Garrett Mitchell, who struck out over 30% of the time and still hit 260. They kind of built the offense out of, like, heading average, kind of.
00:02:10
Speaker 2: I mean, Contreras turned it around, too, man. I mean, there was a while where he was, right, he was struggling. And he's up to 270. That's a great average, man.
00:02:22
Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see his recent action. Last 10, not very good. Okay, last 30, he hit 311 with a 921. OPS, that is, yeah, that'll work. That'll absolutely work. Let's take a look at, who do we want to look at? Bryce Terang's final stats, what stands out to you about this guy, 268 average, 100 RBIs.
00:02:50
Speaker 4: That's an impressive year. Second baseman, 21 homers, 100 RBIs. I mean, that's what you need out of your second baseman, right?
00:03:02
Speaker 1: I think that's above and beyond what you need out of your second baseman.
00:03:08
Speaker 2: He got a couple of the series too, which is crazy. You didn't have to sweep the Cardinals, but you still did. And the boys still scored some runs, man.
00:03:18
Speaker 1: It's impressive the way this team's confidence. I don't necessarily know how much the results at the end of the year matter, but the way they were playing, You can't tell me that they weren't just brimming with confidence and starting to feel themselves. And that matters.
00:03:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree.
00:03:36
Speaker 3: I agree. Going into the postseason, the end of the year with a little bit of feel good and swagger. Yeah, this team's playing some of the best baseball right now.
00:03:47
Speaker 1: Fellas, how about Jake Bowers? 143 WRC +. He's second in the National League in I'm not sure if OPS as well, but WRC plus he was for sure, which is probably the better.
00:04:00
Speaker 2: Stat, man.
00:04:02
Speaker 1: What a year. Jake Bowers, one of the best hitters in baseball this year. What do you think about those numbers when you look at them?
00:04:08
Speaker 2: All right, let's hear, let's hear what WRC plus is.
00:04:12
Speaker 1: Uh, Corey told me, yeah, Corey, no, I know you spend a lot of time on fan graphs.com. It's basically the all in offensive number. It's like OPS, but adjust, it's just like adjusted a little better for your, where you play. Um, the league offensive environment. That's essentially it. It weights all the bad.
00:04:34
Speaker 2: Outcomes.
00:04:36
Speaker 3: Is 100 average?
00:04:37
Speaker 1: 100 is league average, yeah.
00:04:40
Speaker 2: And there's no max, or is 150 kind of max? No, I would say mathematically.
00:04:43
Speaker 1: I guess maybe there's a max. 200 is insane, all-time season. 150 is you're one of the elite in the league. 140 is in that category too. Like PCA led at like 150 something this year. Okay.
00:05:02
Speaker 2: Oh, PCA was leading a lot of categories in the regular season. So that's 143 for Bowers. I'll take that. Sure. He will too.
00:05:13
Speaker 1: Yeah.
00:05:13
Speaker 4: I mean, career year for him, right? This is by far the best year that Jake's ever had. And I mean, I felt like he kind of took a step in his whole, uh, his career and everything and kind of became a team leader rather than just one of those guys that you sign on for a year and he's gone type of thing.
00:05:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, we got to talk about what he's going to get in this offseason. We don't got to do it now because we don't need to focus on him leaving yet.
00:05:37
Speaker 2: And he showed that he could, I mean, really, right? He was very versatile being at first base, left field, right field. I mean, playing where he was needed. Yeah. Doing what he had to do, man.
00:05:50
Speaker 1: How about this young fella, Jackson Churio? Don't sleep on the 351 OBP. This guy got on base this year on top of everything else he did. Just a really, really impressive year. 128 WRC +. That's really good. 4.5 war. That's probably like top 10-ish among position players.
00:06:10
Speaker 2: Good year.
00:06:11
Speaker 1: Great year for him.
00:06:12
Speaker 2: I mean, 47 walks for him, too. That's not bad. That's not bad.
00:06:18
Speaker 3: I mean, he's 22 at bats.
00:06:20
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:06:21
Speaker 3: That's what's crazy.
00:06:24
Speaker 2: This is... I mean, this is a guy that we need... We're going to have for a while, too, man. This is going to be great for the crew here in the next few years.
00:06:37
Speaker 1: He wasn't quite as good with runners on base, but fellas, look at this against left-handers, 979 OPS. He's going to lead off against lefties this postseason, and I... I am calling a leadoff tank. Maybe even first pitch. I'm going to call that.
00:06:54
Speaker 2: First pitch?
00:06:54
Speaker 1: It might be first pitch. If you chuck a fastball in there, it's going to go 4-22 to center.
00:07:02
Speaker 2: You ain't lying. Smacking it.
00:07:05
Speaker 1: Who else should we look at? Abner Rebay is coming up. Let's go through some of the relievers here. I know you guys. You got your thing.
00:07:12
Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah. 197 ERA.
00:07:19
Speaker 1: Look what he did to right-handers this year. They slugged 182 against him. That's borderline ridiculous. Look at that average, man.
00:07:28
Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, 182, but dude, 10Ks per nine.
00:07:33
Speaker 1: Here's your boy, Corey.
00:07:35
Speaker 2: Yep.
00:07:35
Speaker 1: Ashby.
00:07:37
Speaker 2: That's it, dude. 89 innings.
00:07:38
Speaker 1: Where do we stand on? I mean, I probably would have taken the over on 89 innings for Ashby this year. He still led all relievers.
00:07:46
Speaker 2: Yeah, Murph said, what, 100, right?
00:07:49
Speaker 1: 100, yeah.
00:07:50
Speaker 2: Murph was thinking 100 innings.
00:07:51
Speaker 3: Well, he is going to get 100.
00:07:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. He will.
00:07:56
Speaker 3: He's got plenty left to go.
00:07:58
Speaker 2: He's got plenty left.
00:08:02
Speaker 3: He's got plenty left to go. No, he'll get to his 100.
00:08:05
Speaker 1: Ashby's been really good of late. That's his last 30 right there, boys. 241 ERA, 41 strikeouts to 12 walks. You absolutely take that.
00:08:12
Speaker 2: Yep.
00:08:14
Speaker 4: We need you guys to be just Coming into the playoffs healthy, feeling good, and at their best, right?
00:08:20
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:08:20
Speaker 1: All right. Let's get to the really stupid stuff.
00:08:27
Speaker 2: The Miz.
00:08:27
Speaker 1: Yep.
00:08:27
Speaker 2: The Miz. Please. 16-5, 180 ERA, 252 strikeouts, 44 walks. I would like to point your direction to the whip.
00:08:31
Speaker 1: 0.80 whip. Fellas, that is the third best whip of any starting pitcher over a full season, qualified starting pitcher in baseball history. There have been a lot of baseball pitchers in baseball history.
00:08:58
Speaker 3: That's insane.
00:08:59
Speaker 1: Wow.
00:09:00
Speaker 2: That is wild. So he's leading, or he led the league in ERA and strikeouts.
00:09:07
Speaker 1: Correct. All of baseball.
00:09:09
Speaker 2: All baseball. The whip, too. I mean, I didn't see that stat.
00:09:12
Speaker 1: Whip as well, yeah. His average against, I don't know if I can find that on here somewhere. There's a lot of written. Oh, there it is. It's right there. It's right there.
00:09:21
Speaker 2: 157.
00:09:21
Speaker 1: 157, dude. Hella's greatest, like, I should say lowest batting average against in baseball history for a qualified starting pitcher.
00:09:32
Speaker 2: Wow.
00:09:32
Speaker 1: That includes the fake 2020 COVID season.
00:09:36
Speaker 2: Dude.
00:09:37
Speaker 3: I mean.
00:09:37
Speaker 2: That is nuts.
00:09:40
Speaker 4: Right, everyone, what's the one knock that he didn't throw 200 innings? That's what everyone's going to say, that he didn't have enough innings this year.
00:09:46
Speaker 1: Well, he might. Yeah, I don't know if anyone's knocking him. If you have any knock this season.
00:09:53
Speaker 3: This is one of the best pitching years ever.
00:09:57
Speaker 1: Most dominant pitching seasons, for sure. The Pedro Martinez 2000 season kept coming up today when I was searching. Miz is in the top five or top three of so many categories all time. Everyone is like Pedro Martinez 2000. That's unbelievable, guys.
00:10:17
Speaker 2: 180 whip.
00:10:18
Speaker 1: What can you say? Or 180 ERA, what can you say?
00:10:21
Speaker 4: Do you guys remember when we did the show and we said what we thought his ERA was going to be?
00:10:26
Speaker 1: I do, yeah. What did we say? I think I was the highest.
00:10:29
Speaker 4: You were the highest. Corey and I were like 2-2, I think. Did we say like 2-2 or something like that?
00:10:36
Speaker 2: We were all high.
00:10:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, that sounds right. We underestimated this guy. It's crazy that he just never came back down to Earth.
00:10:47
Speaker 4: No, and it It just seemed like he got in like a coast, didn't it? It just seemed like it was just like, all right, this is what I do every day now.
00:10:55
Speaker 1: Absolutely easy. Last 10 appearances, 230 ERA, 0.91 whip. And that was, yeah, that's what JP said. That's kind of the coast. All right, who else do you want? Give me some names.
00:11:07
Speaker 2: The game was very fun for him.
00:11:09
Speaker 3: Give me Logan Henderson. Let's go check out.
00:11:12
Speaker 2: There we go.
00:11:14
Speaker 4: Starting the most games with quality starts.
00:11:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good call. 23 straight quality starts to begin his career. That's tied for the all-time record in Major League Baseball alongside Zach Gallin, who I did not vote for on my Cy Young ballot in 2022. And I think he was mad about it. But nevertheless, we're going to talk about awards on the show. Maybe the next one. No, he went on foul territory one time. Shout out foul territory. I got that one. And said he had a list on his phone of who didn't vote for him. I think I gave Corbin the fifth place vote that year on innings account. Whoops, my bad.
00:11:51
Speaker 2: Sorry. Sorry, Zach.
00:11:54
Speaker 1: Logan Henderson has now tied his record. Has a chance to break it next year. What stands out to you guys on this page?
00:12:07
Speaker 4: I mean, look at the whip there, too. We're talking about you just said Miz was third lowest, right? Like, I mean, we get this guy stretched out for a full season, and we're sitting at 18 starts, and he would probably make another, what, 16 starts in a full season?
00:12:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, Miz did 30, so we can give him 12.
00:12:32
Speaker 2: Okay, so 12. Miz missed two starts.
00:12:34
Speaker 1: That's true.
00:12:35
Speaker 4: I mean, these two next year, if they're both healthy and this is going to be who's going to win– the cy young out of these two guys.
00:12:46
Speaker 2: I mean yeah look at that dude what.
00:12:48
Speaker 1: This is left look what he did the lefties.
00:12:51
Speaker 2: Here mrs average against was 157 henderson's was 180 not much different i mean and his dude his walk per nine rate was 1.7 that's that's elite too and that was i feel like he had what one game recently where he had like four or five walks which.
00:13:08
Speaker 1: Was Not like him. I don't want to say he's been worse this season. There's been a little less crisp, which is maybe something to watch for the postseason. It hasn't just been as explosive dominant, but I'm far from in panic mode there.
00:13:24
Speaker 3: I think this little break is going to give him a little boost too.
00:13:28
Speaker 2: Everybody.
00:13:30
Speaker 3: I think everyone's going to be feeling good coming out of this.
00:13:33
Speaker 1: Give me one more guy, McGill. This is what a 100-free win team looks like. We're like under the 10th guy, like the 10th best guy this year, and it's 30 saves, 263 ERA, under a one whip again.
00:13:50
Speaker 2: 180 batting average against you. Yeah, another. 8 whip, dude. That's... Come on.
00:14:01
Speaker 1: I mean....
00:14:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, this team's built to do it.
00:14:07
Speaker 2: Come on, this is the team.
00:14:08
Speaker 3: This is, I mean.
00:14:09
Speaker 2: This is the team. We know it.
00:14:13
Speaker 3: They're starting to feel it. They're starting to know it, I think.
00:14:16
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:14:17
Speaker 1: Absolutely. Absolutely.
00:14:19
Speaker 2: They're feeling in their plums. Like, you don't win 100.
00:14:23
Speaker 1: They're sack plus. They're SAC +. Was that on there?
00:14:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's got to be. I couldn't find that.
00:14:35
Speaker 1: You know, Corey, I want to do like a whole award show later. We'll give out our foul territory awards for the whole season. We'll have some fun with it. Yeah. But let's put you on the spot now. I know we're going to shift gears onto looking at who they might play. Corey Kniebel's winner for the Brewer, SAC +. The guy who just had the– His intestinal fortitude was the greatest. Who you got?
00:15:02
Speaker 2: Dude, I'm sorry. I got to be a little biased here. I got to go McGill. McGill's my SAC Plus award winner, brother.
00:15:12
Speaker 1: Congrats to Trevor McGill. We do not have a trophy, and I don't think we want a trophy.
00:15:17
Speaker 2: I don't think we need a sack trophy.
00:15:21
Speaker 3: We know Abner's got the hip thrust plus down.
00:15:24
Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. The crotch chop plus.
00:15:28
Speaker 2: We know he's got the best pitcher celebration award. Yeah, he does.
00:15:33
Speaker 1: Imagine what that man would do with some big outs like in a World Series game. Oh, yeah. I fear for the children.
00:15:43
Speaker 2: For the children watching, those little children eyes, man. Do we have any best walk-off?
00:15:50
Speaker 1: Best walk-off?
00:15:51
Speaker 2: Any walk-off? We'll get to those. No, no. We'll get to those.
00:15:54
Speaker 1: I mean, best walk-off, I got to go with the best walk-off, Terang's Homer. That's probably mine.
00:16:02
Speaker 2: Terang's Homer, yeah.
00:16:03
Speaker 1: Oh, man.
00:16:04
Speaker 3: I'm going to have to go through them all and figure out which one I like the most.
00:16:07
Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
00:16:08
Speaker 1: A lot of the great wins weren't walk-offs. Like the Dodgers game, I think, of on the road where they came.
00:16:12
Speaker 2: Back in the ninth.
00:16:13
Speaker 1: Oh, I mean, that was... Well, I guess the Churio-Homer against the Cubs was a walk-off. But that hit wasn't the walk-off.
00:16:21
Speaker 2: The Churio... I thought that was the.
00:16:24
Speaker 1: The game tire?
00:16:24
Speaker 2: The Churio-Homer was the game tire.
00:16:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, it was not... But they did win on a walk-off.
00:16:29
Speaker 2: They did win on a walk-off. I mean, yeah, that whole situation was... Yeah, yeah, you're right. Let's go on. Let's move on.
00:16:36
Speaker 1: All right, let's move on. off day Monday, and then we're going to be locked in. I don't know. Have they announced the postseason schedule yet, JP? Have you seen that? They have?
00:16:45
Speaker 2: Tuesday, 10 p.m. Central time, Cubs-Padres.
00:16:49
Speaker 1: Of course, I can't believe I asked JP that.
00:16:51
Speaker 2: 10 p.m.? I mean, it was on Sunday Night Football. I thought you were watching that.
00:16:55
Speaker 3: 10 p.m.
00:16:55
Speaker 2: Central time? It said 10 p.m.
00:16:59
Speaker 1: I don't know.
00:16:59
Speaker 2: It might be 10 p.m.
00:17:01
Speaker 1: That's got to be Eastern, right?
00:17:03
Speaker 2: Eastern. So 9 p.m. Central. So the first game is Phillies-Braves at 2 p.m.
00:17:08
Speaker 1: Oh, I can't wait. These three days, especially when I don't have to work them, are three of my favorite days. It's some of the best.
00:17:16
Speaker 2: Hey, Tuesday is going to be wild. We've got four games.
00:17:20
Speaker 1: Wednesday we've got four games.
00:17:22
Speaker 2: They're doing, oh, it's back to back to back.
00:17:24
Speaker 1: Back to back, baby. No days off. There was one year, was it last year we had all the game threes? Is it four game threes or three game threes? There was a lot last year. The Cubs had one last year.
00:17:37
Speaker 2: No, it wasn't.
00:17:38
Speaker 3: It was three to four for sure.
00:17:41
Speaker 1: The Cubs had one. The Guardians had one. The Red Sox had one. And then who was the other? The National League series.
00:17:49
Speaker 2: The Dodgers.
00:17:50
Speaker 1: Oh, the Dodgers didn't have one.
00:17:51
Speaker 2: Dodgers. No.
00:17:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, they swept the Reds.
00:17:54
Speaker 2: They swept, yeah.
00:17:54
Speaker 1: They crushed them. Anyway, the Brewers will play the winner of the Cubs-Padres game. Beginning Saturday at American Family Field. JP, why don't you just kick us off with your general thoughts on what you're going to be watching for in this series or anything that you think that could pertain or matter to the Brewers' eventual series against them?
00:18:19
Speaker 4: Um, well now number one, I think this series is kind of, uh, going to be coming down to the bullpens, right? I think, uh, uh, the one, the Padres bullpen is kind of the Goliath and this.
00:18:29
Speaker 2: Out of the two, right?
00:18:30
Speaker 3: I feel like the Cubs pen has been kind of shaky at the end of the year. And so that's where I'm going with the bullpen.
00:18:35
Speaker 4: And, um, as far as that goes, um, if you're, you know, like us and you're a brewer fan, but you want to have a little bit of interest in this game, uh, right now for, uh, the Padres to beat the Cubs in this series is a 50% chance. So, uh, $ 10 bet on Kelshi will get you $ 17 and some change payout. So if you're looking to follow along and possibly do some trading, go check out Kelshi.
00:19:02
Speaker 3: You can root for whoever you want to.
00:19:06
Speaker 1: I know you're rooting for the Padres.
00:19:07
Speaker 3: I'm rooting for the Padres.
00:19:10
Speaker 1: There's never a question.
00:19:11
Speaker 2: We'll never root for the Cubs here, brother.
00:19:14
Speaker 4: The best thing is one of my good buddies that I have coffee with on Friday mornings is a Cubs fan.
00:19:19
Speaker 3: So when I see him, I'm like, yeah, well, you got it.
00:19:23
Speaker 2: Beautiful.
00:19:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, battle the bullpens for sure in this series. Corey, who you got in this series?
00:19:32
Speaker 2: I mean, I'm... You can ask me who I got. I wasn't expecting that question, man.
00:19:38
Speaker 1: Well, too bad. I ask tough questions.
00:19:41
Speaker 2: I know. I mean, yeah, JP's right, dude. The Padres are the Goliath when it comes to bullpen.
00:19:47
Speaker 1: Really?
00:19:50
Speaker 2: I mean, I think the Cubs have a better heading team than the Padres. So to me, yeah, it's going to come down to, you know, who's going to score the most at the beginning. And I think the Cubs are going to put on more runs at the beginning of the game than the Padres will. So, and, but yeah, I mean, dude, if the Padres can just score a couple of runs, then, I trust the Padres hitting over the Cubs' bullpen, so I'm going Padres here. That's my choice.
00:20:15
Speaker 1: Dads in how many?
00:20:18
Speaker 2: Two or three? Do what?
00:20:20
Speaker 1: Dads in how many?
00:20:22
Speaker 2: The Fajas. We're all dads here, almost. Soon?
00:20:27
Speaker 1: Soon for the man in the middle.
00:20:28
Speaker 2: Soon to be. We got... I got dads in three. It's going to take them three.
00:20:36
Speaker 1: Petco, I think, might be a deciding factor there. It's going to be rocking.
00:20:39
Speaker 4: Well, I think that takes away some advantage on the hitting side for the Cubs. Petco's a great place to pitch a little bit. Your stuff moves better.
00:20:47
Speaker 3: C-level.
00:20:48
Speaker 4: I mean, San Diego, analytically-wise, your numbers are always the best there, especially guys like Michael King that are sinking it and sweeping it. Those guys that are at C-level, their pitches play a little bit better.
00:21:01
Speaker 3: So it's going to be a good series. I'm excited, though. It's going to be rocking.
00:21:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, the National League has– five really good teams and also the Phillies. Dude, the vibes, the vibes, the vibes they hear are horrible. It was, so it was, it was, uh, the Brewers lost on Tuesday. I was just there.
00:21:27
Speaker 2: Right.
00:21:27
Speaker 1: And we're coming back out of the press box and the Phillies writers come in after we do, they took long in their, in their post game. And, They're talking about like, these guys are going to choke. And I'm like, what do you mean? They're like three games up with five to play. They might have been four games up at that point. And you know what? They were almost right.
00:21:48
Speaker 2: They were almost right, man.
00:21:50
Speaker 1: But it is the baseball playoffs, man. Anything can happen. They have some good hitters and some elite starting pitching. I just have a tough time seeing them get past the Braves. I don't know.
00:22:01
Speaker 2: Yeah. That's usually... that's always been there kryptonite anyway man so it'll be a fun series as well yes.
00:22:10
Speaker 1: Sir and uh before we move on guys i think we're gonna we're gonna do some lives we're gonna go live during one of those games hopefully game one i think uh talk about tuesday tuesday yeah game one yeah i mean 9 p.m anyway you got you're gonna be you guys are gonna be watching so Come back to the channel, bookmark it, and we'll take some questions. We'll talk about what we're seeing on the field, preview the Brewers series against either one of those teams. Probably say the name Mason Miller about 27 times, and it'll be fun. So join us for that this week. We'll do lives. We'll do more lives, I think, throughout the postseason as well, especially if the Brewers have a deep run.
00:22:52
Speaker 2: All right.
00:22:53
Speaker 1: A topic. When they have their deep run.
00:22:55
Speaker 2: Sorry, Corey. It's all right. Forgive me. Ooh. All right.
00:23:01
Speaker 1: Take it away. Corey, Corey, just lead us into this segment. You got the banner there. I don't need to do this. Take it away.
00:23:07
Speaker 2: There it is, man. Captain captain, dude. This is what an honor. What an honor. Honestly. I mean, I know JP feels the same way, but to play with this guy, to see what he's done, to see what he's done for the brewers, to see what he's done for the city of Milwaukee. Ever since he came over to Milwaukee, we see what has happened. Um, and he's respected in the clubhouse. I think, I mean, he's respected in the city. He's respected by the managers, players, staff, everybody, man. This is well-deserved honor. Very happy for him. And yeah, this is good. So cool. And the fact that he, before he accepted it, he wanted to go ask Robin Yahoo, you know, wasn't declared right. Wasn't declared captain, but he was the captain. And, just to get his blessing first, right? What a great guy, man. This is super cool, really. He deserves it. Yeah, incredible. I agree.
00:24:10
Speaker 3: Nothing more can be said.
00:24:11
Speaker 4: I mean, he's just, for the short time that I was there and the type of guy he was for me being there and, I mean, watching him play all these years now for Milwaukee and the city and everything.
00:24:23
Speaker 3: I mean, he's at Bucs games and, you.
00:24:26
Speaker 4: Know, he's just, He's just one of the guys that everyone in the city of Milwaukee loves and is going to cherish and love forever.
00:24:34
Speaker 3: So it's awesome to see that he gets that C on him.
00:24:37
Speaker 4: And it's just another one of those things that makes this year even better.
00:24:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you– oh, go ahead, Corey.
00:24:46
Speaker 2: Sorry, not a lot of guys. I mean, right, not a lot of guys.
00:24:49
Speaker 1: This is the third.
00:24:49
Speaker 2: Third inactive. Him, Aaron Judge, and– Perez.
00:24:54
Speaker 1: Perez.
00:24:55
Speaker 2: Oh, Salvi. Salvi. That's right. Yeah. Salvi. Okay.
00:24:59
Speaker 1: And he's, I mean, he's been the unofficial captain on the Brewers for a few years now.
00:25:03
Speaker 2: Yeah. Right. For sure.
00:25:05
Speaker 1: So not a ton changes like logistically with this, but I think it's a great excuse to talk about his impact on the ball club as if we haven't, you know, ever done that on the show. We do talk about that a fair amount, but we have. Yeah, I mean, I want to hear about you guys' interactions with him as teammates, like how he helped you, especially you, Corey. You know, you were around him for more years and not a COVID year. But, like, on the media side, I think that, C, you have to hold your own and be the spokesperson for the organization with the media as well. And he's been that guy, I mean, ever since I've been on the beat since 2022. where it's clear that he's the guy and his answers are always so thoughtful and he speaks from the heart, whether it's his clinch celebration or if he's answering questions about his struggles or about the team's success. It's always genuine. He's always got time. It's authentic. And I've always appreciated my interactions with him. He's been great. on our side of things, I love talking to him just last week in Philly where he's talking about like, just like saying, yeah, I've had, I've had, I've sucked this year. Yeah. And, and, but, but you know, like the, you've never seen it with him. You've, I have never seen it once with him. And we talked about that, I think on the last episode, JP, like when the team's struggling and he's struggling, he's, he's pissed off. It can be kind of busy a little bit, But when he's struggling and the team's great, none of it. Like you would have no idea he's not the MVP. So that's just my two cents on it. Yeah, Corey, why don't you– do you have anything you want to add about like how he helped you, your experiences with him just like as a teammate?
00:27:00
Speaker 2: No, I mean, what you see out there, the yellow that you see on TV, on the field, I mean, that's exactly how he is in the clubhouse, too. And, yeah, you've seen him in there. And he is, man. Like, that's not an easy job to make sure you're the guy no matter what every single game. You're going to be sitting there at your locker. Everyone's going to come up to you. And no matter what, if you did great, if you did terrible, if you maybe only got one at-bat, you might not have played that much, you didn't make an impact, you're going to be talking to the media about, right, like, how did we lose today? You know, why did we lose today? What happened today? Hey, how did it feel to see your teammate walk it off today? You know, it's no matter what, if it had to do with him or not, he was always the guy. I mean, yeah, that's not like, I guess, necessarily the easiest to do. But, yeah, every time we saw him, man, he was a very genuinely nice human being. And he was. He was just always keeping vibes great, walking around. You know, Woody's got those vibes where he's walking around and getting everyone hyped up, you know, making them laugh. But, like, yo, he's just kind of chill, man. He's a chill, walk-around, you know, exactly, good, bad guy. team's doing great. Team's doing terrible. It's, he's all right here. And the guy just likes to sit in his locker and fiddle with his hands and get ready, get ready to swing. You know, he's always taking his dry hack. So I, to me, that always fired me up, man, but not a lot of, you know, we, we talked, we talked a lot about, you know, obviously my struggles, my injuries and then post season and 18. And I mean, Not a lot to say, man. He was a great teammate. Really, really cool to know the guy and to call him my friend.
00:28:56
Speaker 1: Did you see him? Did you talk to him at all when you came back up?
00:29:00
Speaker 2: Of course. Oh, yeah. I talked to him over there. Me, Shaw, Bronny. We were all over there talking, dude. We lived in the old days, and then he's sitting there like, dude, I feel old as balls, man. Sitting here talking to y'all. Yeah. You're the only one still playing out of us four right now, man. You're doing it, dude. You're killing it.
00:29:21
Speaker 1: I wanted to ask him last night if I was like, so do you feel old now? But I decided not to. Next time. Next time.
00:29:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe next year.
00:29:33
Speaker 1: The answer is probably yes.
00:29:36
Speaker 2: It's probably yes. You don't want to hear it. I would imagine.
00:29:40
Speaker 1: It's yes. I think we all feel a little old.
00:29:43
Speaker 2: Exactly. The guy's been through so many back issues. Kneecap. I think if he's healthy, he's a Hall of Famer. Yeah. Yeah, I mean....
00:29:59
Speaker 4: He was so good before the kneecap injury. I mean, I think that just, yeah. We might be talking a whole different story about that.
00:30:09
Speaker 2: Who knows? He's still got, what, two years?
00:30:14
Speaker 1: I believe it's two more years, yeah.
00:30:16
Speaker 2: Two more years after this? I mean, come on, dude. No better time than now to get the man a World Series.
00:30:24
Speaker 1: You can tell how bad he wants it, how bad he wants to win it for the clubhouse. obviously the fans yeah my first interaction with him was not great um i always came onto the beat late i introduced myself to him one day and then my first time to come coming up to him was like he was having a crappy start to the year but he was hitting the piss out of the ball so i was like oh let's talk to him like he's his results aren't there but his process is good and he was just like not having it and i was like is this how it's gonna be No, it's been great. It's been a much better media relationship.
00:31:04
Speaker 2: I feel like he'll let you know, too, like, hey, what you're asking me right now, don't ask that again. I'm sure he's probably let some guys know. Those questions, you don't ask that. I think he'll be honest.
00:31:22
Speaker 1: What he's great at is being... You go on the road, and not so much this year because there's Miz and Terang's a star, and there's all these other things going on with the team, but he's still the guy. And all the reporters from out of town, they come to the Brewers Clubhouse, he's still the guy, and you know what? He answers every damn question. And that would get annoying.
00:31:44
Speaker 2: Yep. He does, man. I mean, that is one big job as a captain.
00:31:51
Speaker 1: Little things that are actually big things, you know. The rest of the guys probably see that, right? You notice that?
00:31:57
Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
00:32:00
Speaker 1: All right, well.
00:32:01
Speaker 2: Go Brewers.
00:32:03
Speaker 1: Dude, it's the playoffs. How many of these dang shows have we're at, like, 100 shows for this year, and it is time to.
00:32:10
Speaker 2: Look at that, dude. And we're still here. We're still going to be here.
00:32:16
Speaker 3: Come join us for some lives.
00:32:18
Speaker 1: JP in late May, or late April, and the Brewers were flooding around 500 so the panic-o-meter was at like a 1 out of 10 and I'll be damned here we are 100 103 wins later never a doubt never a doubt it's gonna be an exciting couple weeks coming up of course as we always say keep tuned to
Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to the season and what?
