Re-Evaluating Jaws with All Things Considered

The shark didn't work, the actors hated each other and the stress of the production nearly destroyed Steven Spielberg's career before it began. In this episode of All Things Considered, we reveal the true story behind Jaws (1975)—a "disaster waiting to happen" that became the first summer blockbuster. We break down the legendary on-set feud between Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss, the mechanical failures of "Bruce" that forced a total rewrite, and how editor Verna Fields saved the movie by hiding the monster. From budget overruns to the mental toll on a young director, we break down how Jaws truly scores, with All Things Considered.
