ÜBER DIESE EPISODE
Text me what you think of today’s episode!
A kid asks for a Ouija board, sees something she can’t explain, and years later ends up living the dream she casually announced at four years old: “I’m going to live in Salem.” That’s where Sue Jacobucci’s story starts, and it only gets stranger from there. Sue joins me for Spooky October to talk about how a lifelong love of the spooky and macabre grew into real paranormal investigation rooted in history, research, and lived experience across New England and beyond.
We get into Salem, Massachusetts as more than a Halloween headline, including the moment Sue sat in the Custom House and looked out a window only to see the wharf transform into a vivid, bustling scene from another era. Was it imagination, intuition, or a genuine time slip? From there, we talk about what it means to be an empath in haunted locations, why some places hit you with instant emotion, and how she’s learned to handle fear, boundaries, and protection without shutting herself down.
Sue also breaks down her approach to paranormal investigation tools like audio recorders, video, and a tripwire style light device, plus a powerful experience at Pennhurst Asylum in Pennsylvania. We wrap with what she’s building now: Parlor of Spirits and Mysteries, a live show where viewers can submit mysteries and photos, and her behind-the-scenes research work on Christy Parrish’s YouTube series The Walk. If you’re into paranormal research, psychic medium development, Salem history, and haunted locations, this conversation will stick with you.
Subscribe so you don’t miss Spooky October, share this with a friend who loves haunted history, and leave a review telling me your take: do you think time slips are real?

00:00:10.400 --> 00:00:13.839
Everyday people following their passions.
00:00:14.320 --> 00:00:17.600
That's probably like one of the highlights of my life so far.
00:00:17.760 --> 00:00:21.519
Just being able to be creative like that.
00:00:21.839 --> 00:00:27.039
And then I decided to get another hive, and that turned into a lot of hives.
00:00:27.440 --> 00:00:33.759
Putting themselves out there, taking chances, and navigating challenges along the way.
00:00:37.600 --> 00:00:40.640
Very first laugh, very first practice session, I crashed.
00:00:41.039 --> 00:00:45.679
As they pursue what makes them happy and brings them joy.
00:00:46.399 --> 00:00:51.280
As long as people are having a good time and I have the opportunity to put smiles on people's faces.
00:00:51.520 --> 00:00:55.600
I have done things that I never thought I could do.
00:00:56.159 --> 00:01:00.560
This is Assorted Conversations, and I'm your host, Helen.
00:01:09.519 --> 00:01:16.640
Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to the first episode of Spooky October 2026.
00:01:17.439 --> 00:01:23.359
You may or may not know, October and Halloween are my absolute favorite time of year.
00:01:23.599 --> 00:01:34.000
Over the years, I've worked as a volunteer actor at a local haunted house, and I've had a blast interacting with the folks who come out to be scared and enjoy the season.
00:01:34.239 --> 00:01:44.480
But as time has gone on, I've started to get interested in the paranormal, thanks in part to previous guest, paranormal investigator, Christy Parrish.
00:01:44.799 --> 00:01:56.079
Her gift of connecting with energies and giving a voice to the past has given me a new appreciation for the education and importance of paranormal activity.
00:01:56.480 --> 00:02:10.960
If you haven't listened already, Christy is, I believe, episode 15, the Ghost Tour Manager Conversation, and she shares some personal haunting stories that will chill you to the bone.
00:02:11.120 --> 00:02:20.479
And she also shares the history of the Oliver Estate in Marlborough, Massachusetts, which at the time she was a caregiver at the property.
00:02:20.800 --> 00:02:25.840
Christy has a brand new project out on YouTube, so don't miss out.
00:02:26.080 --> 00:02:36.159
Her new project is called The Walk, and it symbolizes exactly what she does when she's invited to a property to investigate for the first time.
00:02:36.479 --> 00:02:40.560
She walks it, listens, and learns.
00:02:40.879 --> 00:02:49.759
She is a team of researchers who fact-checked what she hears from the energies she encounters after she's done her walkthrough.
00:02:50.080 --> 00:02:53.199
Some of the stories are absolutely incredible.
00:02:53.439 --> 00:03:00.400
She's released two episodes so far on YouTube, and I'll include the link to her channel in the show notes.
00:03:00.960 --> 00:03:11.199
Now, this week's guest is actually one of those fact checkers and in her own right has established herself in the New England paranormal community.
00:03:11.439 --> 00:03:19.360
So grab some popcorn, settle in, listen to this week's episode, and I'll see you on the other side.
00:03:22.240 --> 00:03:28.159
This week's guest has been interested in the spooky and macabre realm since childhood.
00:03:28.400 --> 00:03:38.400
She realized her early goal of living in Salem, Massachusetts, and continued to nurture her passion for history and paranormal into adulthood.
00:03:38.719 --> 00:03:53.120
Ten years ago, she began to dabble in historical paranormal investigation and built upon her archaeological experience to help decipher artifacts and the energy she began experiencing.
00:03:53.599 --> 00:04:04.240
An accomplished published author of several articles, including one appearing in American Antiquity and her recent articles regarding the paranormal.
00:04:04.719 --> 00:04:15.680
She is now starting to explore the psychic medium space to further uncover her capabilities and continue connecting with energies around her.
00:04:16.000 --> 00:04:21.759
I am so happy to welcome Sue Jacobucci to Assorted Conversations.
00:04:21.920 --> 00:04:25.040
Hi, Sue, and welcome to Spooky October.
00:04:25.360 --> 00:04:26.000
Hi, Helen.
00:04:26.240 --> 00:04:27.120
Thank you for having me.
00:04:27.199 --> 00:04:29.439
It's so nice to meet you in person here.
00:04:30.000 --> 00:04:31.519
Yes, you as well.
00:04:31.680 --> 00:04:32.399
You as well.
00:04:32.560 --> 00:04:38.319
And uh we were talking a little bit off mic about how our paths actually crossed.
00:04:38.399 --> 00:04:44.959
And they crossed about five years ago through Friend of the Podcast and former guest Christy Parish.
00:04:45.360 --> 00:04:54.959
Um so we have been linked together on Facebook for the last five years, and I am so happy that we now have a chance to sit down and hear your story.
00:04:55.279 --> 00:04:55.920
Oh, yes.
00:04:56.240 --> 00:04:58.079
Thank again, thank you for having me here.
00:04:58.240 --> 00:05:00.160
And uh it I was thinking about that.
00:05:00.240 --> 00:05:03.920
I I mentioned earlier, like, I've known Helen for how long?
00:05:04.079 --> 00:05:12.079
And it's it was that podcast when you had Christy on, and I just was like, wow, this is you know, a nice platform that you have.
00:05:12.639 --> 00:05:14.160
Oh, thank you, thank you.
00:05:14.319 --> 00:05:16.000
I am so happy to have you here.
00:05:16.160 --> 00:05:17.439
So let's dive in.
00:05:18.000 --> 00:05:23.279
Paranormal interest and an interest in the macabre since you were a child.
00:05:23.519 --> 00:05:24.079
Oh yes.
00:05:24.319 --> 00:05:33.120
How did that I loved scary movies as a kid, but I had no interest in having all of that stuff around me 24-7.
00:05:33.439 --> 00:05:36.560
So how did your how did your interest and passion start?
00:05:36.800 --> 00:05:40.720
Yeah, I mean, I will will have to credit it to my mom.
00:05:40.879 --> 00:05:53.519
So my mother um was a big fan reading like Agatha Christie, um, Mary Roberts, Reinhardt and she loved the old horror movies, Frankenstein, Dracula, all of that.
00:05:53.759 --> 00:05:59.839
And as a little girl, you know, especially on the weekends, we would watch these movies on TV together.
00:06:00.160 --> 00:06:02.560
And, you know, I would read some of her books.
00:06:02.639 --> 00:06:10.879
Um, some of the first books I started reading at like five, or some of her Agatha, like some what I could read, like from Agatha Christie.
00:06:11.199 --> 00:06:16.639
Um, so I was just fascinated with mysteries and you know, horror movies.
00:06:16.879 --> 00:06:20.079
Uh, I heard about Salem, you know, when I was four years old.
00:06:20.160 --> 00:06:26.800
Like, not even sure somebody mentioned it, or I saw something on TV about it, and I was just hooked.
00:06:26.959 --> 00:06:28.399
I was like, I I'm going there.
00:06:28.480 --> 00:06:31.680
I told her one day, one of these days I'm gonna live in Salem.
00:06:31.759 --> 00:06:35.439
And her response, you know, was always like, okay, sure.
00:06:36.160 --> 00:06:37.680
Of course you are.
00:06:38.639 --> 00:06:39.600
And I did.
00:06:40.240 --> 00:06:48.000
So um, but yeah, so early on as a kid, you know, very interested in um, I think Scooby-Doo was around at the time.
00:06:48.160 --> 00:06:48.240
Yeah.
00:06:48.399 --> 00:06:53.519
And Halloween was always my, you know, pretty much my favorite um holiday.
00:06:53.600 --> 00:06:55.199
Uh loved fine too.
00:06:55.519 --> 00:07:05.040
You know, love the leaves changing and just, you know, stories of the headless horsemen, um, just the woods themselves, just scary walks through the woods.
00:07:05.120 --> 00:07:05.839
Um, yeah.
00:07:06.160 --> 00:07:08.000
Just, you know, uh I don't know.
00:07:08.079 --> 00:07:11.199
It just kind of was was me um as a kid.
00:07:11.360 --> 00:07:15.759
Uh I asked my aunt uh for a Ouija board for my birthday one year.
00:07:16.000 --> 00:07:21.360
So I think it was like my I think I was like nine years old or something like that.
00:07:21.519 --> 00:07:27.040
And you know, I I got this Ouija board, so I used to fool around with that, and you know, it was funny.
00:07:27.120 --> 00:07:28.240
This is a a short story.
00:07:28.399 --> 00:07:31.759
One summer, um, you know, during the summer as a kid, what do you do, right?
00:07:32.000 --> 00:07:32.160
Right.
00:07:32.480 --> 00:07:35.040
So yeah, play in the garage with the Ouija board.
00:07:35.120 --> 00:07:38.399
So my neighbor, we were watching her, you know, for the summer.
00:07:38.560 --> 00:07:44.000
She was over, and you know, we put blankets on the windows of the garage, shut the garage door.
00:07:44.240 --> 00:07:46.720
My dad's car was in there, and we were playing around.
00:07:46.800 --> 00:07:48.959
And it's like, well, who are we gonna conjure up today?
00:07:49.120 --> 00:07:51.519
So it was like Abraham Lincoln, you know.
00:07:51.600 --> 00:07:53.600
So we're doing this, doing our thing.
00:07:53.680 --> 00:08:00.079
And, you know, we both look at the hubcap of my dad's car, and in it, we were we screamed.
00:08:00.160 --> 00:08:02.480
We both saw like a face, and it was oh wow.
00:08:02.639 --> 00:08:08.160
I don't know if it was just, you know, what, but it was like, and we ran out of the garage.
00:08:08.319 --> 00:08:16.399
Um, you know, so that night, you know, my dad comes home and sitting at the dinner table, and he always would ask each of us, so what did you do today?
00:08:16.560 --> 00:08:18.240
You know, so it comes to me.
00:08:18.560 --> 00:08:20.480
Suze, you know, he used to call me Suze.
00:08:20.639 --> 00:08:21.920
He's like, What did you do today?
00:08:22.000 --> 00:08:30.000
And I said, Well, I was in the garage with Vicky and we, you know, played with the Ouija board and we conjured up Abraham Lincoln.
00:08:30.079 --> 00:08:32.879
And he just kind of like stared at me like, okay.
00:08:35.360 --> 00:08:41.440
So a couple days later, you know, I go looking for this Ouija board and couldn't find it, you know.
00:08:42.320 --> 00:08:43.840
I wonder what happened to it.
00:08:44.000 --> 00:08:44.559
Exactly.
00:08:44.799 --> 00:08:48.559
So my dad comes home, we're at dinner, you know, he's like, What did you do?
00:08:48.639 --> 00:08:53.679
And I goes, Well, you know, I went to look for my Ouija board and it disappeared.
00:08:54.240 --> 00:08:56.559
And he just had this look like, oh, really?
00:08:56.720 --> 00:09:00.000
You know, so it was just That's too bad.
00:09:00.320 --> 00:09:01.440
Yeah, I know.
00:09:01.679 --> 00:09:03.840
So it was just, I don't know, just all that.
00:09:03.919 --> 00:09:08.639
And um, as I mentioned earlier, I did live in Salem uh for a period of time.
00:09:08.799 --> 00:09:12.480
I went to college for the first time at Salem State.
00:09:12.559 --> 00:09:15.360
It was a college, now it's a university.
00:09:15.519 --> 00:09:24.960
Um was able to, you know, walk around the different uh historic sites in Salem, um, lived, you know, in a couple of places.
00:09:25.039 --> 00:09:27.279
Uh one place was interesting.
00:09:27.519 --> 00:09:36.879
I lived there, and halfway into the year we had the lease, I was reading this book on the Boston Strangler, my interest in true crime as well.
00:09:37.039 --> 00:09:43.120
And I'm reading it, and I get to the back page and it lists, you know, all of his, you know, poor the victims.
00:09:43.360 --> 00:09:48.720
And one of them lived diagonally across the street from where I was living.
00:09:48.879 --> 00:09:50.799
Oh yes.
00:09:51.039 --> 00:09:54.320
I was like, oh my goodness, I couldn't, you know, believe that.
00:09:54.559 --> 00:09:57.360
Just send, you know, chills through me.
00:09:57.600 --> 00:09:57.759
Yeah.
00:09:58.320 --> 00:10:00.080
Different things like that in Salem.
00:10:00.159 --> 00:10:02.559
Um, and then just you know, living my life.
00:10:02.639 --> 00:10:15.679
Um, and then I got really focused in the paranormal about 10 years ago, when on my first investigation uh at the Oliver House in Middleborough, Mass, and that's where I met uh Christy J.
00:10:15.840 --> 00:10:16.720
Parrish there.
00:10:16.960 --> 00:10:23.440
She was the tour guide, ghost guide, and you know, just developed a friendship with her from then.
00:10:23.519 --> 00:10:33.279
Um, and then just uh, as I mentioned, just um traveling around a lot of New England uh locations, but we've taken it on the road a bit.
00:10:33.360 --> 00:10:36.799
We've been to Pennsylvania a couple of times recently.
00:10:36.879 --> 00:10:39.440
Uh we were at Pennhurst Asylum.
00:10:39.679 --> 00:10:39.919
Yeah.
00:10:40.240 --> 00:10:48.639
We've been to Gettysburg a few times, and we've been to Virginia, uh, Bellgrove Plantation, and also our travels to the Midwest.
00:10:48.720 --> 00:10:51.039
We've been in a few places in Minnesota.
00:10:51.120 --> 00:10:54.799
Uh there's a restaurant, uh Fourpaws Restaurant in St.
00:10:55.039 --> 00:10:55.360
Paul.
00:10:55.519 --> 00:11:01.519
I actually wrote about that in um Haunted Travels Anthology Volume 2.
00:11:01.840 --> 00:11:04.639
Um, and then just different different locations like that.
00:11:04.720 --> 00:11:16.480
You know, we do research on them, find them, and it's like we, you know, look out the logistics, like how far is it from here, you know, how can we get there, type type thing.
00:11:16.639 --> 00:11:17.360
So, you know.
00:11:17.679 --> 00:11:25.120
I I find the historical piece to paranormal activity like so fascinating.
00:11:25.759 --> 00:11:38.879
I want to go back to living in Salem while you were there, because you know, uh any place has tons of history, but there seems to be so much history here in in New England and in Massachusetts.
00:11:39.120 --> 00:11:47.279
Living in Salem, did you have any experiences um with the energies that are there?
00:11:47.440 --> 00:11:53.120
I mean, everybody knows about the Salem witch trials and and everything that went on there.
00:11:54.320 --> 00:12:00.080
Any any experiences, any disturbances that that you experienced?
00:12:00.639 --> 00:12:01.200
Yes.
00:12:01.360 --> 00:12:10.720
Um, so you know, as a kid growing up, um I used to practice something called like astral projection, where you meditate.
00:12:11.120 --> 00:12:15.360
So I had these cassettes back in the day, you had cassettes, because I'm old enough.
00:12:15.519 --> 00:12:23.279
Yeah, not CDs, and you would it was all about meditation and relaxing your mind so you can travel, you know.
00:12:23.440 --> 00:12:28.000
So it can get scary because it's you know, like what are you doing?
00:12:28.080 --> 00:12:32.960
It's almost as if your soul is separating from your body, if that makes any sense.
00:12:33.279 --> 00:12:34.559
So I don't know.
00:12:34.720 --> 00:12:37.519
It's I used to practice that a lot.
00:12:37.679 --> 00:12:43.919
I lived on a street um in Salem, Derby Street, and there's the custom house there.
00:12:44.159 --> 00:12:49.679
Um, so for those familiar, uh, there's a lot of different historic buildings and there's a wharf.
00:12:49.840 --> 00:12:55.200
So the wharf now has a ship on it called the Friendship, and there's a building.
00:12:55.360 --> 00:12:57.519
When I lived in Salem, that was not there.
00:12:57.600 --> 00:12:59.679
So it was just an empty wharf.
00:12:59.840 --> 00:13:05.039
So one day, you know, living in Salem, my friends were already out and about, and it's like, what am I gonna do?
00:13:05.120 --> 00:13:08.799
So I go for a walk, and the doors of the custom house were open.
00:13:08.879 --> 00:13:11.360
It was, you know, literally a block from where I lived.
00:13:11.519 --> 00:13:23.440
So I went over, climbed into the building, and back then they had like a tour guide there, um, but the building wasn't really kept up, um, not it like it is today.
00:13:23.759 --> 00:13:26.399
And I, you know, he's like, Well, you can just walk around.
00:13:26.480 --> 00:13:33.679
So I'm like, all right, so I go walking around the house and I go up to the second floor, and there was a front office.
00:13:33.840 --> 00:13:41.840
Uh, they have the house different now, um, but it was a recreated office of Nathaniel Hawthorne.
00:13:41.919 --> 00:13:43.519
So he's a famous author.
00:13:43.679 --> 00:13:43.840
Yeah.
00:13:44.159 --> 00:13:50.159
But he worked for the custom house for a period of time for the ships coming in.
00:13:50.240 --> 00:14:01.519
He was kind of like, I don't I don't know if you call him an inspector, but all the ships that came in had to get registered and they had to claim what they were carrying into port and pay a tax on it.
00:14:01.759 --> 00:14:06.000
So he was, you know, an agent, I guess, a customs agent.
00:14:06.240 --> 00:14:11.440
So I'm in his office, and at the time there was a desk there that they said was his.
00:14:11.600 --> 00:14:13.679
Of course, I sat at it, you know.
00:14:14.080 --> 00:14:15.840
Probably wasn't supposed to, but I did.
00:14:15.919 --> 00:14:21.519
And then I got up and I went up to the window, and the view out the window was of the wharf.
00:14:21.679 --> 00:14:24.240
And like I said, wharf was empty.
00:14:24.480 --> 00:14:32.960
And all of a sudden, um, you know, I close my eyes, I opened them, and I imagined a bustling wharf location.
00:14:33.279 --> 00:14:54.399
There were clipper ships there, people running around, and it was almost as if I was transported back in time, you know, to a period when the wharf was a bustling port with merchants and you know, different all kinds of people, horses, uh, buggies, and and it was just an amazing thing to see.
00:14:54.480 --> 00:14:56.000
And I was like, what am I seeing?
00:14:56.159 --> 00:14:58.320
This is, you know, what's going on?
00:14:58.480 --> 00:15:04.240
You know, close my eyes again, open them back up, and it's back to the way it was.
00:15:04.559 --> 00:15:08.639
So I, you know, kept that to myself for a number of years.
00:15:08.879 --> 00:15:10.639
I'm like, what did I experience?
00:15:10.799 --> 00:15:19.759
Was this just all just my mind traveling because I do this astral projection thing, or did I really experience a time slip?
00:15:20.159 --> 00:15:22.639
Why did why did you keep it to yourself?
00:15:23.519 --> 00:15:43.120
Well, back then, you know, I was a student in college, and you know, my friends we hung out and drank what all you know college kids do, and I kind of like chalked it up to maybe some kind of a hallucin, you know, I I hallucinated flashback.
00:15:44.080 --> 00:15:44.639
I don't know.
00:15:44.799 --> 00:15:59.279
I mean, I was sober that day, had gone to bed early, you know, all that, and I just kept it to myself and I thought um it just didn't seem that the society uh was as open it is as it is today for the paranormal.
00:15:59.440 --> 00:15:59.679
Yeah.
00:15:59.919 --> 00:16:07.120
Like back then, you know, like Salem was Salem, but it it had one witch, and that's Lori C was Lori Cabot.
00:16:07.519 --> 00:16:08.639
She still lives there.
00:16:08.879 --> 00:16:11.519
It wasn't as commercialized as it is now.
00:16:11.600 --> 00:16:17.840
Um you know it was busy during October, but nowhere near like it is now.
00:16:18.159 --> 00:16:20.480
Oh, now it's it's like Disneyland busy.
00:16:20.720 --> 00:16:22.799
It is, and it was not like that before.
00:16:23.039 --> 00:16:31.279
So, you know, I was fortunate enough to live there during that period and just see it evolve into what it is today, you know.
00:16:31.679 --> 00:16:34.720
So, um, but yeah, so I mean I kept that to myself.
00:16:34.879 --> 00:16:45.519
I did uh write it up in an article, and it was published in the Feminine Macabre uh volume four, um, curated by Amanda Wilmer.
00:16:45.600 --> 00:17:14.240
So my ex I actually published the experience and did some research on other published time slips that people have experienced, and you know, just like kind of like dove into that whole topic of you know, stepping into time, stepping back in time, you know, experiencing uh something that is for me an unexplainable, you know, occurrence that happened.
00:17:14.400 --> 00:17:16.880
Um but it has always stuck with me.
00:17:17.119 --> 00:17:21.839
Um so yeah, so that was very very different, very different than deja vu.
00:17:22.240 --> 00:17:26.480
Yes, it was it was just it was real, it just seemed very real.
00:17:26.640 --> 00:17:51.039
And the thing that's interesting is on the wall, you know, where the window was, they had a page from um The House of Seven Gables that Hawthorne wrote, and his opening, I believe it is that book, the opening where he sets the scene, and it's basically a scene of looking out that window, seeing that, the wharf, seeing the people.
00:17:51.279 --> 00:17:56.799
And it's you know, I I mean, hey, maybe he's he's a magician with his words.
00:17:57.119 --> 00:18:03.519
He cast a spell on me, and I went, you know, I visualized the whole thing, you know.
00:18:03.599 --> 00:18:09.279
So it was it was an amazing experience that, you know, like I'll always remember for the rest of my life.
00:18:09.599 --> 00:18:10.480
You know, yeah.
00:18:10.559 --> 00:18:15.599
Well, I mean, for all you know, you saw exactly what he saw that inspired the opening.
00:18:15.920 --> 00:18:16.720
Exactly.
00:18:17.759 --> 00:18:18.400
Wow.
00:18:18.640 --> 00:18:18.960
Yeah.
00:18:19.119 --> 00:18:30.480
Um The House of Seven Gables is pretty near, it's maybe two blocks down the street the other way, which is another piece of property in Salem that I would, you know, just walk the grounds of.
00:18:30.640 --> 00:18:34.480
I actually toured the house only one time and it was back then.
00:18:34.559 --> 00:18:36.400
I haven't been back inside.
00:18:36.720 --> 00:18:42.799
Um, but you know, so just walking on those streets uh where Hawthorne walked.
00:18:42.880 --> 00:18:47.200
I mean, it was just it amazing just to think think of it in that perspective.
00:18:47.599 --> 00:18:48.400
Right, right.
00:18:48.720 --> 00:18:52.079
Now, I again, Boston, you live just outside of Boston.
00:18:52.240 --> 00:18:54.400
Boston is obviously very historical.
00:18:54.559 --> 00:19:01.279
Have you had any experiences like even just going out to dinner in Boston?
00:19:01.440 --> 00:19:04.319
Like, has has anything really happened?
00:19:04.640 --> 00:19:06.400
Yeah, I mean, I it's funny.
00:19:06.720 --> 00:19:11.440
When I lived away from Boston, I was in the city more than I am now.
00:19:11.680 --> 00:19:12.799
Does that make sense?
00:19:13.119 --> 00:19:13.680
Yeah, yeah.
00:19:13.759 --> 00:19:15.359
No, I I don't go in often.
00:19:15.599 --> 00:19:15.839
Yeah.
00:19:16.000 --> 00:19:20.240
So now it's, you know, we're always going north or south, you know, not in.
00:19:20.400 --> 00:19:26.559
Um we did at one point, so there was the Liberty Street, it used to be the Liberty Street Jail.
00:19:26.720 --> 00:19:26.880
Yeah.
00:19:27.039 --> 00:19:33.839
Um, I think I don't know if it's Liberty Street, but now it's the Liberty Um Street, it's like hotel, Liberty Street Hotel.
00:19:33.920 --> 00:19:35.440
It's next to Mass General.
00:19:35.599 --> 00:19:35.839
Yep.
00:19:36.000 --> 00:19:38.559
Um we they used to be the Charles Street jail.
00:19:38.799 --> 00:19:39.839
Oh, Charles Street, yes.
00:19:40.319 --> 00:19:42.880
But I think it's the Liberty Hotel, they call it now.
00:19:42.960 --> 00:19:45.359
Um but it is Charles Street.
00:19:45.519 --> 00:19:47.359
And so we were in there one night.
00:19:47.440 --> 00:19:55.119
They have a restaurant called The Clink, which it's kind of all right, these are jail cells and you know, people I don't know, serve time here.
00:19:55.279 --> 00:19:57.920
And I don't know, just the way they're using the space.
00:19:58.160 --> 00:20:08.079
So just in the hallway there, um, they have uh some historical, you know, famous uh criminals that were kept and housed here.
00:20:08.240 --> 00:20:15.839
And there was a a piece about um, oh gosh, I can't think the two Italian um Sacco and Vanzetti.
00:20:16.160 --> 00:20:17.039
Yes, yes, yes.
00:20:17.200 --> 00:20:18.559
So they were there.
00:20:18.799 --> 00:20:21.759
Um they were executed, I believe, there as well.
00:20:22.000 --> 00:20:22.240
Yep.
00:20:22.480 --> 00:20:34.000
And so just reading that on the wall, and I just, I don't know, I just just head-to-toe chills um reading it, just you know, uh felt an overwhelming sense that they didn't do it.
00:20:34.160 --> 00:20:34.799
You know what I mean?
00:20:34.880 --> 00:20:42.160
Like they were they were executed for association, you know, guilty by association type thing.
00:20:42.319 --> 00:20:52.079
So that was a kind of an experience where I felt strongly um towards their innocence, like where I normally wouldn't, you know what I mean?
00:20:52.160 --> 00:20:58.000
It was like, well, I I knew of them, um, read about them, just didn't really like it was just weird.
00:20:58.079 --> 00:21:05.599
It just kind of like really hit me hard that yeah these people were probably, you know, like I knew they were innocent.
00:21:05.680 --> 00:21:06.079
It was weird.
00:21:06.400 --> 00:21:09.839
Did you go back and research or had you researched them prior?
00:21:10.079 --> 00:21:22.559
Uh the only thing I knew um besides their names, um, and that possibly there was discrimination because there were Italians that had come over and oh let's, you know, let's get the Italian guy did it type thing, you know.
00:21:22.720 --> 00:21:22.960
Right.
00:21:23.119 --> 00:21:27.680
Um, you know, I I I just knew that of it, didn't really know much about it.
00:21:27.839 --> 00:21:31.200
Um, and then afterwards I did a little bit of research.
00:21:31.359 --> 00:21:38.720
Um, there's still a lot more to do, just like who, you know, they were in you know into gambling and different things like that.
00:21:38.880 --> 00:21:43.759
Um from the brain tree area, like they were it was you know, a group of men.
00:21:44.000 --> 00:21:50.079
And I just was like, no, I really don't I think they just kind of like had to pin it on somebody.
00:21:50.400 --> 00:21:52.319
And yeah, they got these two guys.
00:21:52.400 --> 00:21:53.440
It just was really weird.
00:21:53.599 --> 00:21:56.079
So that kind of supported my feelings, you know?
00:21:56.319 --> 00:21:56.480
Yeah.
00:21:57.039 --> 00:22:04.559
And the reason I ask is there are uh there are strong feelings that they were innocent and that they were executed needlessly.
00:22:05.039 --> 00:22:16.559
So I I just yeah just to get that gut feeling I'm like, oh did you did you go back and read because you know there's there's a lot of stuff that would support their their innocence.
00:22:16.960 --> 00:22:17.279
Oh yeah.
00:22:17.680 --> 00:22:18.720
So interesting.
00:22:19.039 --> 00:22:36.240
I think you know getting into yeah you've obviously got an I for lack of a better word, the gift that you are just open enough to see things, to feel things, to hear things.
00:22:36.480 --> 00:22:56.880
Um and that makes for a very um I don't want to say a very good paranormal investigator, but somebody who is very intuitive and somebody who is is open to receiving messages, I guess is is are are the words I'm struggling to try and find.
00:22:59.839 --> 00:23:14.960
How how has that helped you once you you know took the plunge 10 10 years ago and really decided you were going to um get interested and get involved in paranormal investigation.
00:23:15.200 --> 00:23:20.480
How have those things helped you and and how did they help you right out of the gate more importantly?
00:23:20.799 --> 00:23:41.279
Yeah I mean just right out of the gate as a small child I mean I could walk in a room and knew like who was good who was bad you know what was going on like I could just I knew you know it's it's always like a sense of knowing people's emotions um and I I always related very well with animals.
00:23:41.519 --> 00:23:54.079
Like you know I was afraid of dogs as a kid because I was chased my neighbors had these two little dogs and to get to my friend's house I would have to like run through the yard and I'd look for these dogs and they were always after me.
00:23:54.240 --> 00:23:56.960
So I never really liked dogs because of that.
00:23:57.039 --> 00:24:01.119
But like I'll go anywhere and they come right they come right up to me.
00:24:01.279 --> 00:24:21.359
It's as if like hey you know like yeah yeah like I get them and they get me and I think they sense that I'm not gonna harm them you know like I can portray that um you know so early on I was always very sensitive as a kid like if I got in trouble for something it just really like bothered me like I was really upset about it.
00:24:21.519 --> 00:24:33.440
And also if other if somebody else was in pain or very upset I would take that on like I could feel you know their pain I could feel everything.
00:24:33.680 --> 00:24:37.440
And yeah growing up as a kid that can be difficult.
00:24:46.000 --> 00:25:04.799
So I've always had that um and then also going into somebody's house I would know like I didn't see spirits and things like that but I could feel that you know there's maybe something else going on here besides the people that are living here.
00:25:05.119 --> 00:25:10.799
But I didn't want to like go down that road because you know it it's a scary it's scary.
00:25:10.960 --> 00:25:11.839
It's a scary road.
00:25:12.079 --> 00:25:33.519
Well and and it was frowned upon too like you're nuts if if you you know I we and we went through that with Christy too where for years she pushed down what she was seeing feeling and hearing um once I think the older you get the filters that you have you know fall start falling off.
00:25:33.839 --> 00:25:34.079
Yeah.
00:25:34.480 --> 00:25:37.119
So at this point I'm just letting it all go.
00:25:37.359 --> 00:25:39.039
Yeah good I good for you.
00:25:39.200 --> 00:25:57.680
Yeah so the whole empath part and the whole being open to energies and receiving messages that to me is like in the medium realm but I I understand it could be so helpful in the paranormal investigation realm.
00:25:57.839 --> 00:26:25.039
So when you first started getting involved with Christy at the Oliver House 10 years ago how did that gift that you have help you with your paranormal investigating so in the very beginning I kind of closed off tried to close myself off and I think it was because you know you hear all these people oh there's evil spirits and that you don't want to get an attachment and things like that.
00:26:25.279 --> 00:26:29.039
So I would go in and try to feel nothing to be honest.
00:26:29.200 --> 00:26:34.720
I didn't want to feel it and I wanted to see things for myself.
00:26:34.880 --> 00:26:41.759
So I was trying to go about it like I don't know if you want to call it the scientific like a skeptic I wanted to go about it.
00:26:41.839 --> 00:27:47.680
I always believed but I wanted to see and then it just got to a point where you know I was looking at we would bring equipment with us and things like that and I'm like well what does this even mean this equipment like is this even like what is this you know yeah so then I started um reading more about uh mediums and I started taking courses uh from you know different like Sam Baltrousists he has something called Spirit Squad and there's a bunch of us he has different classes he runs um I've been recently taking uh classes with uh Tamara Scott and Kay Reynolds um different types of medium classes and I'm at a point the the last couple of years I've been integrating what I'm feeling with the location so at first I had it separate for my own reasons and now it's just I'm getting so much more in the location um just trying to open up to what is possibly there.
00:27:47.839 --> 00:27:53.759
So basically using yourself as a tool you know um just to investigate.
00:27:54.000 --> 00:29:40.480
I mean we still bring recorders we um you know have a video recorder now that we uh record things and I do bring some of the some uh pieces of equipment but it's not uh not as it was it's not totally equipment um i I try to use myself as equipment and just accentuate with some things just to see okay I'm getting this this just went off with this so yeah there's gotta be to validate I guess if that makes sense yeah I was gonna say I think the equipment is more to validate what you're feeling um or uh yeah to validate it to to make it material um what are the most popular pieces of equipment that you take with you on a paranormal investigation okay as I mentioned so I would say the number one thing is the video uh recorder so that's number one and we try to do short uh clips I do record all the time too with a digital recorder but getting like you know after a six hour investigation there's six hours of audio and I've got so much you know right now that I haven't listened to I mean there could be like a spirit in there saying yay but I wouldn't know at this point because I haven't spent the time listening so those two and then we also have something it's like a tripwire um it's like a 12 foot rope with lights on it and um it picks up the energies of the spirits and they can light it up so we do have that so when we were at Pennhurst for example that's all we had out.
00:29:40.559 --> 00:30:06.559
I mean I had the digital recorder um my husband was recording on the audio the video and then I had the wire there and I was asking questions and different lights were lighting up and it was just an amazing conversation and I could feel that we were communicating with a young girl who had passed away at that it used to be a school and it was just amazing what we were getting you know we just with just with that.
00:30:06.960 --> 00:30:12.160
For folks that don't know the history get give me a little history about that property.
00:30:12.480 --> 00:30:25.119
Okay I don't really know a lot about Penthouse because I am starting to um so I went in cold so one thing I like to do now is when I visit a location I really don't want to know anything about it.
00:30:25.359 --> 00:30:31.680
Just so I'll go in and we start picking up different things and you learn about the place while you're there.
00:30:31.920 --> 00:31:03.200
Afterwards I'll start digging into the history but from what I understand it it opened in the early 1900s and it originally was a school and it turned into like I don't know a place where people with disabilities went um there were a lot of children there were older people there as well maybe people today that you would label as autistic would have been there.
00:31:04.400 --> 00:31:21.039
And I think at first when it opened up it you know really did a good job taking care of the people there and training them as far as like um you know cooking cleaning uh they even had farming and things like that.
00:31:21.200 --> 00:34:51.280
But I think in time like so many institutions it changed there wasn't as much help um and then the help they hired like some of the guides that were there were telling us these stories that there would be like you know high school girls working there as the nurses you know dispensing and younger you know dispensing sometimes lethal dosage like because it was you know not even a a trained RN working so you know there was a lot of disease in there as well um some of the people that went to school there that passed away in 1918 1919 uh you know during the influenza um there was that and then there was like you know tuberculosis that went through there so yeah you know we kind of got the feeling when we were there we were speaking with um a girl who it was funny like her the light the rope light would light up anytime my husband said Sue you know my name so I was like is your name Sue and lit up so wow we're speaking with Susan lights up so it was just amazing and in that part of the building there was no electricity there was our uh we had our phones on airplane nothing that would set that wire off and we weren't even anywhere near it and it was just going off going off um you know so we kind of got the feeling like through there you know influenza came to me so I'm like you know did you die of influenza lights up and then I was like was it tuberculosis lights up so it's funny we get home afterwards I'm going through some records some of them you can find people's death certificates online which is amazing right and I found this woman this girl I'm not saying this is who I communicated with but her name was Susan Hornish she died in like 1919 her on her death certificate the primary reason she died was influenza underlying tuberculosis so I was just like but again I don't know you know what I mean right right if it was her so it but it was just weird you know like yeah okay so um but yeah so that place is just if if you have the time to go I mean they're kind of like um there are a lot of uh signs in people's yards on the way there that stop the data center so I think there's talk that Pennhurst could become a data center or part of the property so I don't know you know as far as um you know preserving a place like that but it it is run down um yeah it's a pretty significant paranormal spot to go investigate at it is it is and we went on a uh trip it was um uh some of the guys from uh ghost adventures were there which oh wow I was like okay I'm gonna say hello to Aaron and Jay and Lauren from that show and then uh Patty Negri was the other guest the you know the good witch Patty um so it was nice to you could investigate with them you know there was no way we there were so many people so we just kind of like did our own thing um but we did a meet and greet with them they served us a meal I mean it we were there at three in the afternoon and it went till two in the morning so it was just a wow fascinating trip.
00:34:51.599 --> 00:34:58.000
Do you ever like I know um I have toyed with but tickets go so fast.
00:34:58.159 --> 00:35:18.159
Christy will do like an overnight um paranormal investigation at the Emery Estate or the all I I don't think she does it at the Oliver House so much anymore, but the Emery Estate, the Mayflower Inn, I took a paranormal investigation class with her down in Middleboro um probably this past spring.
00:35:18.639 --> 00:35:26.239
And she sometimes does these overnighters and I'm like I think I would get too afraid overnight.
00:35:26.400 --> 00:35:34.159
Like does does your mortal fear ever take over when you're doing any kind of paranormal investigation?
00:35:34.719 --> 00:35:40.880
I mean the first time I went to the Oliver House, I mean I'll admit I was scared I'm like what am I gonna see there?
00:35:40.960 --> 00:35:57.360
You know but then once I got in the property my fear of that place, you know, I never had that again um the first time I stayed overnight in a haunted location uh was at the Mount Washington Hotel in the White Mountains.
00:35:57.519 --> 00:35:59.840
Yep and I was scared.
00:35:59.920 --> 00:36:05.599
I mean like I I was in bed with the covers up and I'm like oh my God what am I gonna see tonight?
00:36:05.679 --> 00:36:06.480
What am I gonna see?
00:36:06.559 --> 00:36:30.880
And we didn't see anything but we had a lot of amazing things went on we stayed in the princess suite um Caroline stick me she was the wife you know they built the hotel in 1902 ish I think and a year or two later her husband died like after it had opened like he was older her husband and then so she was a widow and was running that place.
00:36:31.519 --> 00:39:50.719
So the room we stayed in the bed we stayed in was supposedly her bed that she would travel with like when she went to Europe and different things she would you know just have her people um ship the bed along so I was scared to be I will be honest but it just you know right after that I just was like you know nope everything's okay I can do this and since then um we've spent a couple overnights um skierce mansion in Gardner Mass um that place can be really creepy and that was fine and we've stayed at the Shanley Hotel in New York um and then in Gettysburg too we stayed at the Cashtown Inn and also the Farnsworth house so and then different hotels too that have been known to be haunted so we're trying you know I'm more comfortable now doing that yeah um you know sometimes you know certain locations um we go to I really don't want to stay in that location I don't know why like overnight so we'll get a room nearby or something like that you know just kind of separate yeah place and stay in another haunted place but um but yeah I don't really um you know at this point I I'm really not scared of the different places we investigate some of them do have darker energies that you can yeah experience and I really wouldn't want to stay overnight in some of those places but for the most part you know you just kind of go in uh with a positive outlook like you know I'm gonna be okay um do your protections important um you say a little prayer or different you know people do different things um I do wear different uh stones like I'll wear smoky quartz um obsidian like protection um keep that in the back of my mind protection protection protection and just go in and and do it but uh for the most part it's just you know being able to experience the property during the day and at night you know some it's just different vibes as well and it's part of the history of that location yeah what what does a location have to offer in order for you to be interested to go and investigate because you've been all over yeah I so what draws you I you know it's funny um I I I wonder that myself sometimes like I'll I'll I'll look at a building and it just something inside of me is like I want to know more about that place you know like um when we first moved here so we live um in Somerville Mass we're right you know near Boston so now I experienced north of the city which before was always the South Shore the Cape things like that you know I was always intrigued by um you know Lexington Conquered the battles and things you know for the independence of this country and we went to the bridge uh the North Bridge and there's a place there called the old man's and just something about just we you know looked at the building and I just was like what is that building you know it just caught my mind you know caught my eye and just my imagination started and I started doing research on it.
00:39:50.800 --> 00:40:25.360
So that's how it begins um it's like a location that I'll I'll just find online I mean I'll sometimes Google online just like abandoned locations because I also enjoy um outdoor sites as well um like ruins of once you know like hotels and and different things like obviously we never enter anywhere illegally it's always like right public and open you know um yeah most of these pla some of these places are in parks and things like that that you can go visit so I'll just find out about things like that.
00:40:25.519 --> 00:40:38.320
And I think it's just my like uh I've I do have an adventurous side to me like where I do like to travel I mean I like to be home but I also like to explore you know new locations.
00:40:38.559 --> 00:40:49.119
So I think it just it just uh piques my curiosity when I'm if I hear somebody mention a place and for whatever reason I'll start looking into it and I'm like we're going there.
00:40:49.360 --> 00:40:54.880
Yeah um that happens you may you may actually be a good urban explorer.
00:40:55.039 --> 00:41:42.800
Um we had a conversation with uh a friend of Maureen's back in the day who was an urban explorer and she had gone into abandoned psychiatric hospitals and it's really just to see the structure it there's no paranormal investigation going on um but it is to see things and to take pictures and she is an award-winning photographer oh yeah um through her through her urban exploring but um she had some freaky experiences um happen to her and I I she chalked it up more to being in her own head like you know it was it it was giving creepy vibes and then somebody she didn't know was in the building you know popped up out of nowhere there were another urban explorer.
00:41:42.880 --> 00:41:47.519
So wow um yeah that might be something you want to look into is urban exploring.
00:41:47.840 --> 00:42:59.599
Oh yeah definitely out of all of the investigations you've done what was what was the the scariest for you where you walked away going whoa that was intense um scariest uh there were a couple times at the SK Pierce where it was a little you know it just seems scary um but I would say there's a place in Vermont um Wilson Castle um it's an old castle and the people working there um you know it just a lot of like they put a lot of love into that place but it's just a very um to for me and not everybody gets this when they go there they think it's just you know glamorous and this and that I get very depressed in that place like just something about the castle and it and it might just be like you know they're working really hard um to rehabilitate like the bricks I guess the kind of bricks they used are deteriorating.
00:42:59.760 --> 00:43:07.280
So it's it's kind of like a race against time you know to preserve this place so it doesn't you know crumble away.
00:43:07.519 --> 00:43:12.800
So for me that place just you know creepy vibes.
00:43:12.960 --> 00:43:24.880
I'm actually going there again this later this month um there's a masquerade ball being held and we're going so but I'm not staying overnight so we're gonna go to the go to the castle and see it.
00:43:25.039 --> 00:43:42.000
It's a beautiful property um but it's just you know it's kind of I don't know spooky other than that um spooky places just local outdoor sites like Freetown State Forest can be unnerving.
00:43:42.159 --> 00:44:03.679
So it's not even like a formal investigation like we went there for a visit uh we talked about it the other night um and it's just uh always feel like somebody's watching you so that kind of a feeling for me is scary Like I'm more scared of the people that could be house.
00:44:04.960 --> 00:44:05.360
Yes.
00:44:05.679 --> 00:44:08.079
The people that could be there versus the spirits.
00:44:08.239 --> 00:44:14.159
But yeah, d locations like the Freetown State Forest, um, definitely uh spooky.
00:44:14.400 --> 00:44:30.960
Um, and then all other places, uh there's a place in Bridgewater, Carver Pond, that I don't know, it's not really written about a lot mainstream, but anytime I've ever gone there, it weird things have happened, um, just very, very spooky feeling, you know?
00:44:31.679 --> 00:44:33.519
Like unnerving, I guess.
00:44:34.000 --> 00:44:45.280
How uh now, over the years, you know, you've been you you've been involved in the paranormal for 10 years, you've had a fascination with it all the way back to childhood.
00:44:45.760 --> 00:44:48.880
What are you doing within the realm now?
00:44:49.039 --> 00:44:55.360
Because I know you've got some really cool projects that that you're working on and that you're a part of.
00:44:55.519 --> 00:44:59.119
So share with me a little bit about you know what you're currently doing.
00:44:59.440 --> 00:44:59.760
Okay.
00:45:00.000 --> 00:45:16.079
So currently, besides, we're still investigating places, but yeah, um, I'm involved with um Psychic Medium Sybil Perry, and we have a program called Parlor of Spirits and Mysteries that we started just shy of two months now.
00:45:16.239 --> 00:45:20.159
So we go live on Thursday nights at 7 p.m.
00:45:20.320 --> 00:45:21.119
Eastern time.
00:45:21.519 --> 00:45:27.920
You can find us on Facebook and on YouTube, and you could subscribe on YouTube to get reminders.
00:45:28.159 --> 00:45:36.880
And, you know, we talk about um like we actually had one night where we had two people on and they shared some photos with us.
00:45:37.039 --> 00:45:53.199
So we were using our, you know, medium abilities beforehand to prepare independently, looking at the photos, and then we met live, you know, that Thursday night, and we basically shared our findings.
00:45:53.360 --> 00:45:57.679
So we did readings based on these photos for for these people.
00:45:57.840 --> 00:46:11.760
So I'm working on um psychic medium abilities with Sybil Perry, and we had another show where a woman uh came on and she had a mystery in her house, and she told us little about it.
00:46:11.840 --> 00:46:18.639
Um there was a light in her kitchen, I think she said, that all of a sudden appeared one night, and what was that?
00:46:18.960 --> 00:46:27.599
So we both noodled on it separately, you know, and came together for the program and we had a whole show on on that.
00:46:27.920 --> 00:46:35.679
Um we've also some of the shows, we've talked about some of the locations that we've investigated together and separate.
00:46:35.840 --> 00:46:42.239
Uh we did a show on the Lizzie Borden house, which she's everyone's doing everything on Lizzie Borden this month.
00:46:42.400 --> 00:46:57.039
Um but we had some pictures that we found out on the public domain, and we independently remote viewed the photos and came together on the show to do our theories of what we think you know happened that night.
00:46:57.519 --> 00:47:08.159
So that actually, you know, a lot of people tuned in, so we were like, wow, you know, that was just um so we're working on that, and we're actually this coming Thursday.
00:47:08.239 --> 00:47:10.559
Um, we're going to go live.
00:47:10.719 --> 00:47:16.400
We also do um Oracle and Tarot card pulls live for the audience.
00:47:16.639 --> 00:47:24.800
You know, they can write in on the comments, you know, if they're interested, if they'd like us to pull a card, and then we'll, you know, we do that.
00:47:25.119 --> 00:47:28.639
So that's my you know, one of my newest, newer projects.
00:47:28.800 --> 00:47:33.760
Um, I'm also involved with uh Christy Parish in the walk.
00:47:34.079 --> 00:47:56.079
So um for those who that's yeah, haven't seen that, um so Christy is a psychic medium, and basically she's uh visiting locations that she's not familiar with and walking in and experiencing the location, um, whether it be you know a private home or you know a public historic building.
00:47:56.320 --> 00:48:00.719
And I'm in the background on that um as like a research assistant.
00:48:00.960 --> 00:48:07.280
So on these locations, I'll do research, uh, not sharing anything with her.
00:48:07.360 --> 00:48:15.440
You know, it's just she does her thing, and I also um am involved with sometimes they'll be like, hold this camera.
00:48:15.679 --> 00:48:17.679
So like you know, production assistant.
00:48:17.760 --> 00:48:19.360
So we'll work on that.
00:48:19.519 --> 00:48:24.320
Um, so we're gearing up to actually, you know, next week we're gonna be at a a new location.
00:48:24.480 --> 00:48:35.840
So it's it's it's fascinating to watch her work and just to sit back and then I've done the research, so I know about the place, and all of a sudden she's whoa, yeah, coming up with stuff.
00:48:36.480 --> 00:48:38.800
And it's just amazing to watch her work.
00:48:39.039 --> 00:48:40.960
So that's on YouTube.
00:48:41.280 --> 00:48:44.239
Um, they've had we've had two episodes so far.
00:48:44.400 --> 00:48:47.280
The first one, um, Dead Men Tell No Tales.
00:48:47.760 --> 00:48:48.800
That was amazing.
00:48:48.960 --> 00:48:50.800
Yes, that was an amazing episode.
00:48:51.039 --> 00:48:52.480
I have not been to that place.
00:48:52.559 --> 00:48:56.559
So that you know, before I joined, um, they invited me on.
00:48:56.639 --> 00:49:00.480
Um, I have not been there, but I've been doing the research on that location afterwards.
00:49:00.639 --> 00:49:02.719
That place, I I can't wait to go there.
00:49:02.960 --> 00:49:03.199
Yeah.
00:49:03.599 --> 00:49:04.400
That family.
00:49:04.639 --> 00:49:05.119
Wow.
00:49:05.360 --> 00:49:05.760
Yeah.
00:49:05.920 --> 00:49:07.280
Yeah, that's that place.
00:49:07.360 --> 00:49:12.239
Um that's and then the set did the second episode drop last Sunday or is it dropping this Sunday?
00:49:12.480 --> 00:49:15.679
It dropped last Sunday on the I gotta get caught up then.
00:49:15.840 --> 00:49:20.960
Yeah, so that one's called Nightbird, and that's um a residential property.
00:49:21.039 --> 00:49:23.760
So that one's they're different, different episodes.
00:49:24.239 --> 00:49:38.480
Yeah so I won't spoil that, but you can find it um on YouTube and you know, hopefully um I'm I'm I know they're working on releasing the third episode, but I don't have a a release date or anything yet on that.
00:49:38.719 --> 00:49:50.480
Yeah, I'll make sure I I've highlighted the walk um and their premiere episode on our Assorta Conversations Facebook page because even though I've interviewed you, it doesn't mean I stop supporting you.
00:49:50.639 --> 00:49:58.000
So anytime I see that, you know, previous guests have new things um coming up, I like to share it with the listeners.
00:49:58.239 --> 00:50:02.800
Um so I did share that, but I definitely have to get caught up on that second one.
00:50:02.880 --> 00:50:07.440
And I will make sure there are links in the show notes to your Thursday night.
00:50:07.519 --> 00:50:09.519
Um, well, it's different events, right?
00:50:09.679 --> 00:50:12.000
Do you have one Facebook page for the group?
00:50:12.159 --> 00:50:16.480
And we don't have the Facebook page yet, so we're trying to put that together.
00:50:16.559 --> 00:50:22.079
Um, but under um psychic medium Sybil, um you can find it.
00:50:22.639 --> 00:50:26.559
And it's called Parlor of Spirits and Mysteries.
00:50:26.800 --> 00:50:31.519
So if you go on YouTube, um you can find that as well.
00:50:31.679 --> 00:50:40.480
And I could uh if you want, I think I did get the YouTube link, I could probably afterwards um send that along to you.
00:50:40.719 --> 00:50:41.039
Yeah.
00:50:41.199 --> 00:50:42.559
So you so you have that.
00:50:42.800 --> 00:50:43.840
Yeah, absolutely.
00:50:44.000 --> 00:50:50.079
I I would I would want folks to be able to tap into what you're currently doing and what you're currently involved with.
00:50:50.400 --> 00:50:54.800
Yeah, so again, like the show on Thursday nights, it's different each week.
00:50:54.960 --> 00:51:14.719
Uh we uh we also, if some of the listeners um have stories, you know, uh either a unexplained happening, paranormal um story, uh maybe there's a house they live in that they, you know, they've had experiences, different things, and they want us to investigate.
00:51:14.960 --> 00:51:30.719
Uh we do have links where you can tell us very little about it, or if there's a question you want answered, something like that, or send us a photo or something, uh Sybil and I will, you know, tap into it during the week.
00:51:30.800 --> 00:51:36.480
And when we get together on Thursday, you know, we can you know have the person on as a guest.
00:51:36.639 --> 00:51:38.880
So we we actually have a sign-up going on.
00:51:38.960 --> 00:51:41.599
So I'll see if I can get that to you as well.
00:51:41.840 --> 00:51:42.159
Okay.
00:51:42.480 --> 00:51:54.719
Um, and they can just write as little, you know, we really would want as little information as possible so that way we're not, you know, telling you what you've already told us.
00:51:54.880 --> 00:51:57.039
So just to see what we pick up on.
00:51:57.280 --> 00:51:59.679
Uh I live in an old church.
00:52:00.079 --> 00:52:00.400
Okay.
00:52:00.480 --> 00:52:00.639
Okay.
00:52:00.960 --> 00:52:12.800
So my uh my condo unit is on the top floor, and in my walk-in um closet, there is a big square hole in the ceiling.
00:52:12.880 --> 00:52:15.840
And I think that's where they used to ring the bell from.
00:52:16.079 --> 00:52:17.039
Oh my goodness.
00:52:17.280 --> 00:52:21.119
And I've had a coup I've had a couple experiences here.
00:52:21.280 --> 00:52:25.679
Like I uh was going to bed one night, and this is probably five years ago.
00:52:26.159 --> 00:52:33.840
I was going to bed, I had shut my living room lights off, and I had my flashlight on my phone on.
00:52:34.559 --> 00:52:37.199
Actually, I uh I don't even think I did that.
00:52:37.440 --> 00:52:43.760
I walked into my bedroom, I was at the foot of my bed, and it was almost like I walked into somebody.
00:52:44.400 --> 00:52:45.440
I live alone.
00:52:46.079 --> 00:52:54.800
I came flying out of my bedroom, turned every light in the living room and kitchen and dining room on, and I'm like, what the hell was that?
00:52:55.599 --> 00:52:57.519
And I it scared the hell out of me.
00:52:57.599 --> 00:53:06.639
I never had that uh experience again, but there have been times where I've been woken up like somebody is tapping on my foot or tapping on my head.
00:53:07.039 --> 00:53:07.599
Wow.
00:53:07.840 --> 00:53:10.159
That's what is this?
00:53:10.480 --> 00:53:11.039
I don't know.
00:53:11.199 --> 00:53:18.719
Well, hey, that would be uh that would make for a really interesting show on the parlor of spirits and mysteries.
00:53:18.960 --> 00:53:20.480
If you would like to come aboard.
00:53:21.119 --> 00:53:26.239
If you want to come do a walkthrough, I am open, but then I can't guarantee I won't move afterwards.
00:53:26.480 --> 00:53:26.960
I know.
00:53:27.039 --> 00:53:29.760
I don't want you to do, I don't want you to have to move out.
00:53:30.400 --> 00:53:32.719
So yeah, we definitely would be interested.
00:53:32.800 --> 00:53:35.920
I mean, that's eventually like we're not sure the direction we're on.
00:53:36.000 --> 00:53:37.440
It's kind of like it's fun.
00:53:37.599 --> 00:53:40.159
Um, you know, working with um Sybil.
00:53:40.239 --> 00:53:41.360
It's just it's funny.
00:53:41.440 --> 00:53:48.400
Like the first time I met her, um I just knew I was like, wow, I know her, but I didn't know her, you know what I mean?
00:53:48.880 --> 00:53:49.119
Yeah.
00:53:49.280 --> 00:53:51.840
So we just kind of like naturally hit it off.
00:53:52.000 --> 00:53:55.679
And, you know, as one of our other friends mentioned, we're kind of like opposites.
00:53:55.840 --> 00:54:00.559
She's fair blonde, so we're like the yin and the yang, they were saying.
00:54:00.880 --> 00:54:03.679
So but we just kind of feed off of each other too.
00:54:03.760 --> 00:54:19.920
When we do when we do joint readings, you know, she'll come up with her thing, and I'm like, whoa, you know, I when I was tuning in, I got this, and I'll say something, and then she'll, you know, and so it just it's it's a it's a good working relationship.
00:54:20.079 --> 00:54:26.320
Um you know, we have a lot of fun, and hopefully, you know, our viewers um are enjoying it as well.
00:54:26.639 --> 00:54:29.039
Yeah, no, I definitely have to tune in.
00:54:29.199 --> 00:54:33.440
Thursday nights, I I record, so when I have an interview, I I can't make it.
00:54:33.519 --> 00:54:39.199
And I think that's what happened to the one I RSVP'd to is that I ended up getting an interview scheduled.
00:54:39.440 --> 00:54:45.199
But um if I don't have an interview coming up on a Thursday night, I will definitely make sure to tune in.
00:54:45.440 --> 00:54:48.400
Yeah, and we do try to be interactive with the audience too.
00:54:48.480 --> 00:54:56.880
Like you can um give us messages and we'll, you know, we try to, but also um you can catch episodes on YouTube afterwards as well.
00:54:57.119 --> 00:54:57.199
Yeah.
00:54:57.360 --> 00:55:00.960
They're re they're recorded, you know, so but they're available.
00:55:01.280 --> 00:55:01.920
Well, good.
00:55:02.079 --> 00:55:16.400
Now you've accomplished quite a bit from writing articles to doing your own exploration um to further your passion and you know, now getting into the psychic medium realm.
00:55:16.719 --> 00:55:18.159
What's next for you?
00:55:18.320 --> 00:55:20.639
What else do you want to do?
00:55:21.440 --> 00:55:26.880
I think for me, so the writing part has flowed through my life.
00:55:27.039 --> 00:55:35.119
I really would like to publish a book on so I've been working on that a little bit behind the scenes.
00:55:35.199 --> 00:55:40.800
Um, so I would like to focus a little bit more energy and time to that.
00:55:41.039 --> 00:55:48.559
You know, it can be hard when you're working full time and then at night I'm investigating as often as I can.
00:55:48.719 --> 00:55:53.679
You know, it leaves little time to just sit and think and write.
00:55:54.000 --> 00:55:58.639
So over the course of the next year, I really want to focus more on that.
00:55:58.960 --> 00:56:01.199
Not to say that I'm gonna give up everything else.
00:56:01.360 --> 00:56:07.360
I'm gonna, you know, keep doing um the psychic medium and I'm still taking courses.
00:56:07.519 --> 00:56:22.239
So I want to keep developing that path uh just to see where that is going to take me and explore um, you know, locations in that manner, uh, as well as do more history on different places.
00:56:22.400 --> 00:56:26.719
Like I've identified different locations that I want to explore more.
00:56:26.880 --> 00:56:37.519
So I'm at that at that point in time, and then you know, so I don't know how I'm gonna make it all work with my full-time job and all, but I have to work it.
00:56:37.679 --> 00:56:38.400
I have to make it work.
00:56:38.559 --> 00:56:48.800
So yeah, so I guess just like settling my mind a little bit over the course of the next year, you know, try to set a goal in January and see where I'm at um at the end of next year.
00:56:48.960 --> 00:56:51.599
But that's yeah, we're at what I'm thinking about now.
00:56:52.159 --> 00:56:55.519
What properties are on your bucket list to go explore?
00:56:56.000 --> 00:56:59.760
Well, I haven't I've never been to California.
00:57:00.079 --> 00:57:05.199
So I would love, love, love to go to the Winchester Mystery Mansion.
00:57:05.440 --> 00:57:10.800
Um, Sarah Winchester, who lived in the house and created that house.
00:57:11.119 --> 00:57:13.440
I just have to get in that house.
00:57:13.679 --> 00:57:24.800
So I'm not sure, you know, if that's in the cards for this coming year, but within the next couple, you know, while I'm still able to get around and all that, I I would love to go there.
00:57:25.119 --> 00:57:27.760
Um that's definitely on my bucket list.
00:57:28.800 --> 00:57:29.519
Awesome.
00:57:29.679 --> 00:57:30.159
Awesome.
00:57:30.239 --> 00:57:32.880
Well, what uh what about that property?
00:57:33.440 --> 00:57:40.000
Well, I think the thing about that property, there's just you know, she was a fascinating woman um that lived there.
00:57:40.239 --> 00:57:48.960
She dabbled in architecture and you know, wasn't like a full-blown architect, but she designed the rooms of that house.
00:57:49.119 --> 00:57:54.239
So like that house is her, you know, it's like it's her mind.
00:57:54.480 --> 00:57:56.480
It it came to fruition.
00:57:56.559 --> 00:58:01.360
You know, she always had like that house was always like a work in progress.
00:58:01.840 --> 00:58:04.800
And, you know, like I think she was misunderstood.
00:58:04.960 --> 00:58:10.639
A lot of people are like, well, she was into, you know, she was crazy, she was a psychic, she was this, she was that.
00:58:10.800 --> 00:58:15.039
Um, but it was just, you know, it was like a labor of love, that house.
00:58:15.280 --> 00:58:21.039
And I would just, you know, really enjoy getting more into her history.
00:58:21.280 --> 00:58:28.880
And I I just feel like the way to, you know, round it all up would be to visit that location and just experience that house.
00:58:29.440 --> 00:58:41.760
So um, you know, anything like a property that um is has been built by somebody, it just carries so much of that personality of of the person that created it.
00:58:42.000 --> 00:58:45.519
You know, I grew up the house I lived in, my dad built.
00:58:45.760 --> 00:58:50.960
And you know, it was just, you know, he built that and we lived in that house.
00:58:51.039 --> 00:58:57.039
So just that whole um aspect of the building, just a lot of memories for me.
00:58:57.199 --> 00:59:07.440
And you know, after he passed, it, you know, I would really wanted to keep that house, but you know, unfortunately, I had to, you know, with the estate and everything, we had to sell it.
00:59:07.599 --> 00:59:10.239
And, you know, I just drive by it today.
00:59:10.400 --> 00:59:18.960
The people that bought it um made it into this modern house, but the footprint of it is his footprint, you know what I mean?
00:59:19.119 --> 00:59:19.280
Right.
00:59:19.519 --> 00:59:26.000
Like he's still, even though he's gone now, his house is still there, you know, in a different form.
00:59:26.239 --> 00:59:39.119
So um it's just amazing like that what people can do, you know, like their creative mind, like he built that out of his mind, his plan, he did the labor and the mystery mansion out in California.
00:59:39.280 --> 00:59:44.639
You know, she didn't do the labor, but she designed it, she lived in it, you know, similar.
00:59:44.800 --> 00:59:47.519
Um, so she kind of reminds me of my dad.
00:59:47.679 --> 00:59:51.519
So um, so yeah, so I definitely want to go out there.
00:59:51.760 --> 00:59:52.639
Very cool.
00:59:52.880 --> 00:59:53.199
Yeah.
00:59:53.440 --> 00:59:58.239
Well, Sue, I cannot thank you enough for all of your time.
00:59:58.400 --> 01:00:06.559
I know we've talked about where folks can follow you on Facebook and YouTube, and I'll make sure I have those links in the show notes.
01:00:07.119 --> 01:00:10.719
Um, again, thank you so much for sharing your story with us.
01:00:10.880 --> 01:00:24.800
I love how as a little kid those horror movies kind of sparked this whole lifelong curiosity into not just paranormal, but you know, into the psychic medium realm as well.
01:00:24.880 --> 01:00:30.239
And those two fit so well together to interpret each other.
01:00:30.559 --> 01:00:34.480
So um, again, I cannot thank you enough for all the time.
01:00:34.800 --> 01:00:37.039
Oh, well, thank thank you for having me.
01:00:37.119 --> 01:00:39.440
I really um have enjoyed speaking with you.
01:00:39.599 --> 01:00:50.079
And yeah, it's definitely like, you know, when you're a little kid and you have these dreams, you know, just definitely hold on to that, especially if you never know when you're gonna act on it.
01:00:50.239 --> 01:00:56.639
I mean, some people are fortunate and right out of high school, college, they're involved in their passion.
01:00:56.960 --> 01:01:02.719
But just because if you're not able to do that, it, you know, it it's always there.
01:01:03.119 --> 01:01:04.480
And it's never too late.
01:01:04.719 --> 01:01:05.840
No, it's never too late.
01:01:05.920 --> 01:01:08.880
I mean, that's one thing I've I've definitely learned in all of this.
01:01:08.960 --> 01:01:13.519
It's just it's never too late to recreate yourself, recreate the wheel.
01:01:13.679 --> 01:01:18.960
Um, if you have a if you have a hobby that you're passionate about, just definitely embrace it.
01:01:19.039 --> 01:01:21.760
Um, it just makes life so much more meaningful.
01:01:21.840 --> 01:01:24.320
And yeah, you know, that's what we're here about.
01:01:24.480 --> 01:01:30.480
And also one thing I didn't mention in the paranormal community, I've met so many wonderful people.
01:01:30.719 --> 01:01:32.639
It's just it's a community.
01:01:32.880 --> 01:01:38.960
And you know, we meet up with each other and investigate and we help each other out with different projects.
01:01:39.199 --> 01:01:42.000
Um, it's just, you know, it just it keeps building.
01:01:42.079 --> 01:01:46.320
And I just yeah, I I really am enjoying the ride, basically, you know.
01:01:46.480 --> 01:01:46.719
Yeah.
01:01:46.880 --> 01:01:49.440
So you know, I I will I will echo that.
01:01:49.519 --> 01:02:05.440
It is a very collaborative community because somebody might be a phenomenal empath, and somebody else might be phenomenal with technology or ways to debunk um something that's unexplained.
01:02:05.599 --> 01:02:15.679
And and it's really a combination of all of those skills and talents that really, you know, go into a solid investigation, I think.
01:02:16.000 --> 01:02:19.360
You know, and and I am nowhere near involved in it as you are.
01:02:19.519 --> 01:02:21.119
I'm I'm kind of on the periphery.
01:02:21.199 --> 01:02:25.519
I have an interest in it, but I haven't jumped with both feet into it.
01:02:25.599 --> 01:02:28.880
You know, I'll take a class here and there, I'll attend a seminar.
01:02:29.119 --> 01:02:40.480
Um, had I not had plans that week, uh last weekend, I would have gone down to Paracon um and to say hello, because I knew you were there and I knew Christy was there, but I had something come up.
01:02:40.960 --> 01:02:46.880
Um so yeah, I I I enjoy it, but uh yeah, truer words have never been spoken.
01:02:47.119 --> 01:02:49.119
Um it's never too late.
01:02:49.360 --> 01:02:53.360
And pick it up, pick it up at any point in time.
01:02:53.519 --> 01:02:54.239
Don't let go.
01:02:54.400 --> 01:02:55.199
Don't let go of it.
01:02:55.679 --> 01:03:02.800
Yeah, I mean you you don't want to sit back, you know, when you're like, you know, a lot older and unable to do things, just like, oh, I wish I could have.
01:03:02.880 --> 01:03:04.000
You know, you don't want that.
01:03:04.320 --> 01:03:08.320
So even just go out and do it, and if you fail, you fail.
01:03:08.559 --> 01:03:12.960
But hey, you know, it's something you can say that you you've done this.
01:03:13.119 --> 01:03:17.599
Um, just follow your passion, is is what I've always believed and still do.
01:03:17.920 --> 01:03:19.280
Yeah, absolutely.
01:03:19.599 --> 01:03:21.440
Susan, thank you so much.
01:03:21.920 --> 01:03:22.880
Thank you so much.
01:03:30.800 --> 01:03:33.519
What an accomplished woman Sue is.
01:03:33.840 --> 01:03:42.719
I really enjoyed hearing her journey into paranormal investigating and how that branched into exploring the psychic medium space.
01:03:42.960 --> 01:03:44.320
What did you think?
01:03:44.719 --> 01:03:48.320
Use the link in the show notes to share your thoughts with me.
01:03:48.639 --> 01:03:53.360
What struck me most about Sue's story is her continuous learning.
01:03:53.679 --> 01:03:56.639
She was never satisfied with what she knew.
01:03:56.960 --> 01:04:03.360
She was always on the hunt for more knowledge and to continue tapping into using her gifts.
01:04:03.599 --> 01:04:05.360
It's a great message.
01:04:05.679 --> 01:04:07.280
Stay curious.
01:04:07.679 --> 01:04:10.079
I also loved her parting message.
01:04:10.320 --> 01:04:13.440
It's never too late to start, just keep going.
01:04:13.840 --> 01:04:20.800
That's a message that we've seen over and over and over again through a lot of guest stories.
01:04:21.039 --> 01:04:23.119
I guess because it's so true.
01:04:23.440 --> 01:04:26.880
Just start because you never know where it will lead.
01:04:27.119 --> 01:04:41.920
But jump down to the show notes to follow Sue, learn more about the things and projects she discussed, and I've included the channel link to the walk, the Christie Parish vehicle that Sue is a part of.
01:04:42.159 --> 01:04:44.079
Make sure you check that out.
01:04:44.400 --> 01:04:48.559
And while you're down there, don't forget to connect with me.
01:04:48.800 --> 01:04:52.239
All of the podcast social media links are there as well.
01:04:52.400 --> 01:04:59.360
And I'll be posting some pictures from investigations Sue has done, so make sure you're following.
01:04:59.840 --> 01:05:05.519
As always, thank you for listening and I'll see you in two weeks.
