What's In Your Head Podcast – Season 9, Episode 11

This week on What's In Your Head, Don and Morgan get caught up after the Fourth of July weekend, sharing observations of why people insist on setting off hundreds of dollars' worth of fireworks long before the sun goes down.

Don also shares how a simple backyard barbecue turned into an unexpectedly humbling experience thanks to a few cats—and the surprisingly useful life hack he learned because of it. He gives an update on his new analog lifestyle after ditching his smartwatch, explaining why he's stepping away from constant notifications and what he's learned from making the change.

Morgan also discovers if Don successfully completed his annual birthday running challenge, reaching his mileage goal before his birthday and celebrating another year the only way he knows how—one mile at a time.

The conversation takes a more reflective turn as Don revisits memories of a frightening incident involving a former neighbor that brought police to the scene, sharing how the experience has stayed with him over the years.

It's another episode packed with humor, personal stories, unexpected tangents, and the conversations you've come to expect from What's In Your Head. All this and much, much more on Season 9, Episode 11!

00:00:21.359 --> 00:00:22.879
What's up, what's up, OG5?
00:00:23.199 --> 00:00:29.600
Welcome to another episode of the What's Your Head Podcast, where we talk about, well, as the name implies, everything.
00:00:29.760 --> 00:00:32.399
You thought I was gonna say what's your head, but that's two on the notes.
00:00:32.479 --> 00:00:33.039
Come on, people.
00:00:33.119 --> 00:00:36.399
We've been around too long for that radio bullshit shtick.
00:00:36.960 --> 00:00:37.520
Morning show.
00:00:37.600 --> 00:00:37.920
No.
00:00:38.079 --> 00:00:38.960
What's up, guys?
00:00:39.119 --> 00:00:40.640
Oh, what a freaking week.
00:00:40.799 --> 00:00:41.679
How are you doing, friend?
00:00:41.759 --> 00:00:42.320
How's life?
00:00:42.479 --> 00:00:43.840
It's been a week here, too.
00:00:44.000 --> 00:00:47.280
I guess technically everywhere it's been a week, but what a week it's been.
00:00:48.159 --> 00:00:52.479
Um, let's talk scam, shall we?
00:00:53.759 --> 00:00:57.200
Do you know what uh gift card draining is?
00:00:59.679 --> 00:01:06.480
Uh is it the fees that are charged when you don't use a gift card quickly enough?
00:01:06.799 --> 00:01:08.079
No, I think that's illegal.
00:01:08.159 --> 00:01:12.000
I think now the uh expiration date is like 10 years from the original purchase date.
00:01:12.079 --> 00:01:15.040
I guess they figure if you haven't used it in 10 years, that's on you.
00:01:15.680 --> 00:01:20.879
Um, no, I wasn't aware of this until, well, last week or so.
00:01:21.359 --> 00:01:27.280
So, as you all know, my birthday was on June 29th, and as you all know, we're old around here, we're becoming grandfathers.
00:01:27.439 --> 00:01:30.560
Congratulations to Morgan for being like grandfather number 15.
00:01:32.000 --> 00:01:38.319
But my daughter, Sarianna, is having her first kid, and we had her baby shower the day before my birthday.
00:01:38.959 --> 00:01:44.239
Now, in the past, my father has gotten my daughter a gift card and it hadn't worked.
00:01:44.319 --> 00:01:48.640
And I'll be honest with y'all, I chalked it up on her and not knowing how to use it.
00:01:48.879 --> 00:01:51.040
Sorry, it may make me a dick, but it is what it is.
00:01:51.120 --> 00:01:55.359
I think I just reimbursed the money, and it was just easier than dealing with it.
00:01:56.480 --> 00:02:03.120
So on June 28th, the day before my birthday, my father stops at the uh big green grocery store up the street.
00:02:03.200 --> 00:02:09.439
Not the one that I go to every day, but the one another five miles away because every five miles there's a big green grocery store.
00:02:10.639 --> 00:02:30.800
And he picks up two gift cards, two Visa gift cards, puts money on each one, brings them to Sarianna's baby shower on June 28th, gives her hers, leaves my birthday card in the car because he didn't want my birthday card to get lost in a shuffle of all the cards at the baby shower.
00:02:31.039 --> 00:02:33.039
Perfect sounding, perfect idea.
00:02:33.199 --> 00:02:33.759
Good.
00:02:34.159 --> 00:02:37.840
He bugs out early, forgets to give me my birthday card, not a big deal.
00:02:38.000 --> 00:02:39.759
I'm 48, I'll get over it.
00:02:40.479 --> 00:02:45.039
So the next day, my daughter calls me and says, Hey, that gift card grandpa got me, it's not working.
00:02:45.199 --> 00:02:46.159
I can't use it on the internet.
00:02:46.319 --> 00:02:47.360
I'm like, what's wrong with it?
00:02:47.520 --> 00:02:49.520
The CVV2 number scratched off of it.
00:02:50.560 --> 00:02:51.840
Well, that's fucking weird.
00:02:52.560 --> 00:02:54.719
Go to try to use it in person and let me know if it works.
00:02:54.800 --> 00:02:57.759
So the next day she tries to go use it in person and it doesn't work.
00:02:58.479 --> 00:03:06.400
Now, when you call the 1-800 number on the back and you go through the menu, they want you to put the CVV2 number in to verify you own the card.
00:03:07.039 --> 00:03:09.039
Of course, you can't when it's scratched off.
00:03:11.840 --> 00:03:16.800
So a few days later, my dad texted me, said, Hey, open your garage door.
00:03:16.879 --> 00:03:21.039
Because I just happened to drive the Volkswagen to work because gas prices.
00:03:21.599 --> 00:03:23.199
So my truck was in the driveway.
00:03:23.439 --> 00:03:26.240
So my dad assumed I was home, and I said, No, Carrie's home.
00:03:26.400 --> 00:03:28.719
I'm uh I drove the Volkswagen to work.
00:03:28.879 --> 00:03:29.840
And I said, Well, hold tight.
00:03:29.919 --> 00:03:36.800
Well, I texted her to open the garage door, but in that time he texted me back, hey, I just left a birthday card on your driver's side seat of your truck.
00:03:37.039 --> 00:03:38.479
Okay, no worries.
00:03:38.719 --> 00:03:42.240
Get home, get it, open a card, gift card.
00:03:42.639 --> 00:03:44.719
It's still in the Visa envelope.
00:03:44.960 --> 00:03:45.840
Flip it over.
00:03:46.000 --> 00:03:58.719
The tab is pulled off because for those of you who haven't bought a gift card in ever, they come in a cardboard sleeve and there's a pull tab on the back that has to be there when you grab it off the shelf because they're just at the end of the shelf.
00:03:58.800 --> 00:04:01.840
There's nothing on, they're just essentially a piece of cardboard with a barcode.
00:04:02.080 --> 00:04:13.199
It's not until you take it to the grocery store clerk, they pull the tab, they scan it with their zipper, and then they put in the fund, and then voila, the gift card is now activated for your use.
00:04:13.360 --> 00:04:15.919
They give you the gift card and give you a gift receipt.
00:04:17.600 --> 00:04:21.199
But that cardboard tab is the security.
00:04:21.279 --> 00:04:24.399
This isn't like cards of yesteryear.
00:04:24.480 --> 00:04:29.680
This isn't like a scratcher lottery ticker where it has the gold or the silver scratchy.
00:04:29.839 --> 00:04:33.120
There's no reason to take a coin to a gift card because there's nothing there.
00:04:33.199 --> 00:04:38.160
It's the the hymen, if you will, is the cardboard zipper that you pull off the envelope.
00:04:38.399 --> 00:04:43.759
So if you get the thing off the wall and the hymen's broke, put that whore back or throw it on the ground.
00:04:43.839 --> 00:04:46.079
You don't want it because it's been tampered with.
00:04:47.839 --> 00:04:57.759
Hypothetically, one would think that the training at the grocery stores is if somebody brings up one of these envelopes and that tab is gone or that hymen is broke and flapping in the wind.
00:04:58.319 --> 00:05:07.839
Take the card, give it to customer service, go to the counter, get a new card, pull the hymen yourself, zap it, activate it, give it to the customer with a gift receipt.
00:05:08.000 --> 00:05:08.959
There you go.
00:05:09.759 --> 00:05:16.319
And so now I open up my gift card and the CVB tube number scratched off of it.
00:05:16.480 --> 00:05:18.480
I'm like, Well, that's fucking weird.
00:05:18.959 --> 00:05:21.360
And so I too try to use it the next day.
00:05:21.439 --> 00:05:26.959
I actually had a different the green store that I go to every night, and it beep.
00:05:27.519 --> 00:05:28.560
Clerk tried to pull it up.
00:05:28.639 --> 00:05:30.240
People waiting line and said, Never mind, don't worry about it.
00:05:30.319 --> 00:05:31.759
I don't want to I don't want to be that asshole, right?
00:05:31.839 --> 00:05:33.759
We've all been behind a guy with the checkbook, right?
00:05:33.839 --> 00:05:35.040
He got placed to be.
00:05:35.199 --> 00:05:36.639
I didn't want to be the guy at the checkbook.
00:05:36.720 --> 00:05:37.680
So I said, Don't worry about it.
00:05:37.759 --> 00:05:39.519
I pulled out my debit card page for my stuff.
00:05:39.680 --> 00:05:50.079
I wasn't wanting to use the gift card pay for my groceries, I wanted to use it as a gift, but I wanted to see if something was on it, which I couldn't do because when I tried calling the 800 number, they wanted the CV V2 number, which I did not have.
00:05:51.920 --> 00:05:53.199
And so I looked online.
00:05:53.439 --> 00:05:57.600
As you guys may or may not know, I have a video I think it has 137,000 views.
00:05:57.759 --> 00:06:03.279
I posted nine years ago on what to do when you accidentally scratch off your Microsoft Office serial number.
00:06:03.600 --> 00:06:18.160
And every year, like clockwork around Christmas, that video gets another 28,000, 30,000 views from every heavy-handed kid, grandmother, father who every year the comments are the same.
00:06:18.319 --> 00:06:25.519
I accidentally scratched the key code off my Roblox card, I accidentally scratched the key code off my Amazon gift card, I accidentally how do I fix it?
00:06:25.600 --> 00:06:26.079
How do I fix?
00:06:26.399 --> 00:06:27.920
Keep in mind this video is nine years old.
00:06:28.000 --> 00:06:32.639
This is back when you could call Microsoft, talk to somebody in the phone, give them the number on it, and they would give it to you.
00:06:32.800 --> 00:06:36.480
Those days are long gone, people don't want to talk to you, no one has phone support anymore.
00:06:36.560 --> 00:06:38.560
So the best you can do is Google that shit.
00:06:38.879 --> 00:06:40.399
But thanks for commenting anyhow.
00:06:40.639 --> 00:06:41.519
Engagement.
00:06:42.959 --> 00:06:49.199
So I, as I just suggested to our finer audience, if you're trying to figure out, I went to Google.
00:06:49.279 --> 00:06:52.160
What do you do when the CBV2 number scratched off your gift card?
00:06:52.240 --> 00:06:55.759
And that's when, as you guys may be aware, Google is now AI.
00:06:55.920 --> 00:07:00.959
As soon as you type in something, they'll give you the websites, but before that, it'll be a paragraph from AI.
00:07:01.120 --> 00:07:06.959
And it said, hey, if you have a gift card with the serial number scratched off, that's called gift card draining.
00:07:07.040 --> 00:07:08.399
And here's the scam.
00:07:08.639 --> 00:07:12.319
And the scam only works really one of two ways, maybe three.
00:07:13.519 --> 00:07:19.600
You get the gift card, you break the hymen, you take a picture of the serial number, unless you want to write that shit down manually.
00:07:19.759 --> 00:07:21.600
Good luck not getting caught.
00:07:21.839 --> 00:07:32.560
And then you scratch off the CBV2 number, put the card back, or in case if you're a corrupt salesperson, you scan the card, you activate it, you give the gift card back to the person.
00:07:32.720 --> 00:07:34.480
Because once again, this is a gift card, right?
00:07:34.560 --> 00:07:43.120
The hype hypothetically, this gift card is not going to be touched for maybe 10 hours to two months, depending on if they're shipping this thing to Alaska in a birthday card.
00:07:43.439 --> 00:07:44.480
The perfect plan.
00:07:45.199 --> 00:07:53.759
So you go home after work, you go to Amazon or you go to wherever, you put in the gift card number, boom, you just got yourself$100 worth of free shit.
00:07:54.720 --> 00:07:56.560
That's the only way it could truly work.
00:07:56.720 --> 00:08:02.319
Or if you're a computer hacker or a computer programmer, you have that information, right?
00:08:02.639 --> 00:08:08.160
You put the card back, and then you put it in a database of a computer script that runs.
00:08:08.399 --> 00:08:11.199
Because the whole scam wouldn't work if you're doing this manually, right?
00:08:11.279 --> 00:08:11.439
What?
00:08:11.519 --> 00:08:23.279
You're gonna get a you're gonna go to a Walmart, take a picture of four, and put them back on the shelf, and then what go to a website every 30 seconds manually, see if somebody's actually bought that gift card.
00:08:23.439 --> 00:08:26.079
No, it it's it's a it's it's a useless scam.
00:08:26.160 --> 00:08:29.120
You can be waiting a month before somebody buys that gift card, right?
00:08:29.839 --> 00:08:47.360
And so the only way if there's only one real way this works, and that is at the cashier level, meaning that somebody who works for that place, you know, captures that information because they know how much money's on it, they know it's active, they can go home and still and get the information off of it.
00:08:47.519 --> 00:08:53.279
Well, I had the gift card, the gift card receipt, and it had the the clerk's name on it.
00:08:53.519 --> 00:08:58.080
My daughter had hers, she went back to that store two weeks ago and got her money back.
00:08:58.240 --> 00:08:59.840
Great, problem solved.
00:09:00.000 --> 00:09:04.559
But I was not annoyed so much at the fact that I lost you know 50 bucks.
00:09:04.720 --> 00:09:08.000
I was annoyed that my dad just got taken for a hundred.
00:09:08.480 --> 00:09:12.639
You know, he's retired, he's on a fixed income, he'll need to be throwing away a hundred dollars, some scammer.
00:09:12.960 --> 00:09:17.679
And as I just explained, I'm thinking this has to be an inside job.
00:09:17.919 --> 00:09:24.879
Because once again, what if you're a crackhead, you're gonna go to Walmart, capture that number, and then what?
00:09:25.039 --> 00:09:28.320
Wait, how long could you know there's no return on your investment?
00:09:28.480 --> 00:09:36.879
The likelihood that you'll actually type that number and on a website, try to buy something after that card got, you know, unless you put the very top of the stack and you did enough of them.
00:09:37.039 --> 00:09:43.840
Just the numbers don't work unless you're gonna load that shit into a computer code and have a program running every two seconds to capture that money, right?
00:09:44.000 --> 00:09:47.279
Other than that, it's the amount of time and hope to get lucky.
00:09:47.360 --> 00:10:00.960
But anyhow, so I prepared my argument and I went down to the local grocery store and I asked for a supervisor, and I just basically said, Hey, Grant, same thing I just laid out.
00:10:01.440 --> 00:10:02.639
Here's the receipt.
00:10:02.879 --> 00:10:06.879
My father bought two of these at the exact same time, off the exact same clerk.
00:10:07.039 --> 00:10:11.279
Both cards had the CVP2 numbers off of them, and both cards were completely drained.
00:10:11.440 --> 00:10:26.000
And I explained either A, you have somebody living in the neighborhood coming here fucking you with your cards, or B, you have an employee who A isn't trained up enough to know not to scan a envelope without a hymen, or B, he's stealing the cards himself.
00:10:26.240 --> 00:10:27.519
I'm thinking B.
00:10:27.679 --> 00:10:33.759
Especially after I talked about a different grocery store a few weeks ago where we talked about the kid having the meta glasses, right?
00:10:35.039 --> 00:10:41.519
And so, and I tell her, hey, you know, here's the gift card, and I I know she knows this, but I say the teller's name's on it.
00:10:41.679 --> 00:10:46.000
Now I see the teller's name, I'm gonna change his name for the sake of this conversation.
00:10:46.080 --> 00:10:47.759
We're just gonna call him Steve.
00:10:47.840 --> 00:10:48.080
Why?
00:10:48.159 --> 00:10:51.600
Because the guy behind me, Steve, Steve's the generic name we use for everything.
00:10:51.840 --> 00:10:56.399
And so she, long story short, she comes out, she's like, Hey, I gotta report this, blah, blah, blah.
00:10:56.480 --> 00:10:57.600
I'm just gonna, we're gonna eat it.
00:10:57.679 --> 00:10:59.039
I'm gonna give you the 50 bucks.
00:10:59.120 --> 00:11:00.960
I'm like, cool, that's fine, whatever.
00:11:01.279 --> 00:11:05.360
Once again, I'm more concerned, you got a fucking employee here who's who's draining gift cards.
00:11:05.519 --> 00:11:16.799
So we walk by up to the gift counter or the customer service counter, she's doing her thing to give me the 50 bucks, and there's this little tiny diminutive little dude, probably about 19.
00:11:18.559 --> 00:11:21.679
Collar buttoned all the way up to the top, baseball cap.
00:11:22.240 --> 00:11:25.759
He had on the horned glasses.
00:11:26.080 --> 00:11:29.120
At first, I thought they were metal glasses, but they weren't, they were just that style.
00:11:29.200 --> 00:11:37.759
You know, metal bottom had the the whatever they call those horned glasses, but they don't they weren't metal glasses.
00:11:37.840 --> 00:11:39.039
I can spot them a mile away.
00:11:39.679 --> 00:11:41.759
See the name tags as Steve.
00:11:42.480 --> 00:11:43.600
There he is.
00:11:44.320 --> 00:11:46.000
There's the mastermind.
00:11:46.320 --> 00:11:49.279
And Steve standing over the the manager's shoulder.
00:11:49.440 --> 00:11:55.679
Once again, I made it known to the manager I knew who the cashier was because I pointed out his name was on the gift receipt.
00:11:55.919 --> 00:11:59.360
And I said, Hey Steve, how are you doing today?
00:12:00.320 --> 00:12:02.480
Uh I'm uh I'm doing well.
00:12:03.679 --> 00:12:04.960
You having a good day, R?
00:12:05.440 --> 00:12:06.960
Yeah, yeah, it's going good.
00:12:07.120 --> 00:12:08.000
I'm like, fuck.
00:12:08.159 --> 00:12:09.519
There goes my mastermind.
00:12:09.679 --> 00:12:11.360
There goes my mastermind argument.
00:12:12.399 --> 00:12:14.240
Steve's clearly on the spectrum.
00:12:14.480 --> 00:12:23.519
So possibly that leans to his innocence that perhaps he wasn't aware that he was ringing up tampered gift cards.
00:12:23.679 --> 00:12:32.480
It's still to me a little odd that you would have more than one tampered gift card and it would get sold to the same person wrong up the same day by the same person.
00:12:32.799 --> 00:12:49.840
So either A, Steve is poorly trained and is on the spectrum and isn't aware that there's evil people in the world, or more importantly, Morgan, Steve is the Kaiser Sose of the gift card training industry.
00:12:50.240 --> 00:12:54.159
Why he's at the green box store, he's got his polo shirt on, he's oh hi.
00:12:54.399 --> 00:13:00.480
And then two days later, he shows up at Target with a with a buffant, you know, a completely different personality.
00:13:00.879 --> 00:13:02.480
Hey ladies, how you doing?
00:13:02.720 --> 00:13:07.600
He just he shows up at different retailers and a different personality, but I'm like, fuck.
00:13:07.679 --> 00:13:08.799
So she gives me my money.
00:13:08.879 --> 00:13:10.159
I'm like, good luck to you.
00:13:10.320 --> 00:13:11.039
And I left.
00:13:11.200 --> 00:13:14.399
But you know, that's just a little heads up for you.
00:13:14.559 --> 00:13:20.559
If you guys don't buy a lot of gift cards, or you you're your head's in the sand, you're not your head's not on a swivel.
00:13:20.960 --> 00:13:25.519
Whenever you buy a gift card, when they give it back to you, make sure that CVV2 number is on there.
00:13:25.679 --> 00:13:32.080
If it's if it's not legible, I can guarantee you by the time you get home, that gift card's going to be empty.
00:13:32.159 --> 00:13:34.399
So just ask for a new one right there on the spot.
00:13:34.639 --> 00:13:38.559
Say, hey, not saying it's bad, but I'm saying it's bad.
00:13:38.720 --> 00:13:42.799
Can I can you deactivate that one and give me one that actually has a CVV code?
00:13:42.960 --> 00:13:46.559
Because even if it's not tampered with, I can't use that on the internet.
00:13:46.639 --> 00:13:48.000
You have to have the CVV too.
00:13:48.240 --> 00:13:53.200
You don't need it at the grocery store when you swipe it, but if you're going to use it online, you need the CVV2 number.
00:13:53.279 --> 00:14:05.600
So that's a little story for me to you to help you protect your loved ones and don't get got by the Kaiser Sose of the gift card draining industry known as Steve, because he's out there and he's taking your money.
00:14:05.840 --> 00:14:13.840
He's gonna make you look like an asshole when you when your kid, your grandkid goes to buy that video game or whatever, and there's nothing on there, especially if they're not with their parents, right?
00:14:13.919 --> 00:14:16.879
Then they got the embarrassment of not being able to afford to get something.
00:14:17.360 --> 00:14:23.279
That's why you know Boeings half the battle with GI Joe.
00:14:26.240 --> 00:14:27.120
Mm-hmm.
00:14:32.639 --> 00:14:39.279
Well, while I'm giving you guys a tale of woe and a little heads up.
00:14:39.840 --> 00:14:42.240
Are you a fan of pistachios, Morgan?
00:14:42.559 --> 00:14:45.919
Yes, I love the the black pepper.
00:14:49.519 --> 00:14:51.120
Oh gosh, what brand is that?
00:14:51.200 --> 00:14:53.919
The ones from Costco.
00:14:54.240 --> 00:14:55.759
Um Kirkland.
00:14:56.000 --> 00:15:01.279
No, they're not Kirkland, they're the uh D's nuts brand.
00:15:01.519 --> 00:15:02.559
Yeah, essentially.
00:15:02.720 --> 00:15:05.759
When I can't remember what the hell they are, but they're good.
00:15:08.720 --> 00:15:10.799
Check something for me while I'm talking about this.
00:15:10.960 --> 00:15:17.279
I believe it's pistachios are originally pink in the 70s when they're sold out of Pakistan or grown in Pakistan.
00:15:18.000 --> 00:15:22.720
But at some point they start dying them green to give them a different color when it's no longer imported from Pakistan.
00:15:22.799 --> 00:15:24.960
I was that pistachios, it could be a different nut.
00:15:25.120 --> 00:15:31.440
I know there's a nut that used to come out of the Middle East that was intention intentionally dyed pink and then they changed the color of it.
00:15:31.919 --> 00:15:39.919
But um, I enjoy a good pistachio, and oftentimes I'll get the bag from the grocery store, and you know they come two different sizes.
00:15:40.080 --> 00:15:45.759
First and foremost, are you a pre-shelled pistachio guy or a post-shell pistachio guy?
00:15:46.000 --> 00:15:47.679
Oh, I'm uh I'm gonna do it myself.
00:15:48.399 --> 00:15:54.320
Ooh, you like the that makes me my teeth hurt because all I can think of is fingernails with salt underneath.
00:15:56.320 --> 00:15:58.240
Or to use your teeth like a pirate.
00:15:58.559 --> 00:16:00.080
No, I'm oh I know.
00:16:00.159 --> 00:16:07.039
I yeah, I I I bite down on them and uh uh go to town.
00:16:07.360 --> 00:16:10.879
If I'm at home, I'll pull out a butter knife and just stick the tip in there and twist and pop them.
00:16:10.960 --> 00:16:17.279
I don't mind that, but if I'm at work typing, I don't want to have a a tabletop full of dirty ass shells.
00:16:18.799 --> 00:16:23.200
They come in too, but was I right about the dying of the pistachio, or was that a different nut?
00:16:23.519 --> 00:16:25.039
I'm still looking on it.
00:16:25.360 --> 00:16:28.960
Just type in pink nut from the Middle East in the 70s.
00:16:30.960 --> 00:16:35.919
It says pistachios have always naturally been green, their color comes from chlorophyll.
00:16:36.799 --> 00:16:50.159
Um pistachios used to be am I an asshole or not?
00:16:50.720 --> 00:16:53.679
I typed into Google what nut used to be pink.
00:16:53.919 --> 00:17:01.519
Pistachios used to be dyed bright pink or red, imported to start in the early 1900s to hide stains from the shell.
00:17:01.600 --> 00:17:05.920
Modern machine harvesters uh nuts clearly today, so the company stopped using the dye.
00:17:06.000 --> 00:17:07.519
But yes, they used the dye on pink danger.
00:17:07.680 --> 00:17:08.400
Oh, okay.
00:17:08.559 --> 00:17:12.079
Yeah, red pistachios, the story behind their disappearance.
00:17:12.319 --> 00:17:18.799
Yeah, so they used to be dyed red, and I think they a lot of them came from the Middle East because it was just conducive to the climate.
00:17:19.039 --> 00:17:23.519
But anyhow, this is more of a warning.
00:17:24.240 --> 00:17:25.759
A do yourself a favor.
00:17:26.240 --> 00:17:31.039
So they come in a little handheld back, or they come in the fucking sack, right?
00:17:31.279 --> 00:17:35.440
And I don't know about you, but I can slam on a sack of fucking pistachios.
00:17:38.240 --> 00:17:43.039
One day I had an entire big ass bag of pistachios.
00:17:43.759 --> 00:17:48.079
And uh, for those of you with sensitive ears, you may want to fast forward a couple of minutes.
00:17:48.720 --> 00:17:54.880
I went to the bathroom as one does, and I started getting this pain.
00:17:56.079 --> 00:18:00.559
Pain down below so bad that I couldn't even sit at my office chair once I was done.
00:18:00.799 --> 00:18:07.839
And then I had to go back to the bathroom and rinse and repeat to the point where I had two hours left of work and I almost went home.
00:18:08.079 --> 00:18:11.920
I'm like, I something's fucking I'm dying here.
00:18:13.200 --> 00:18:16.559
Something I'm uh like you remember the movie Critters?
00:18:17.920 --> 00:18:19.200
That little spiky.
00:18:19.359 --> 00:18:21.519
I felt like I was trying to pass a critter.
00:18:21.599 --> 00:18:26.720
I felt like I had Sonic the Hedgehog's cousin, which by the way, I don't know if I mentioned it a few weeks ago.
00:18:26.799 --> 00:18:32.319
I got banned from TikTok for 22 hours for making a reference to Sonic the Hedgehog's brother.
00:18:32.480 --> 00:18:33.839
That's neither here nor there.
00:18:34.640 --> 00:18:39.680
And I realized I ate it's the fucking pistachios.
00:18:40.559 --> 00:18:44.880
I ate so many pistachios, it's like I'm shitting out gravel.
00:18:46.960 --> 00:18:48.000
It hurt so bad.
00:18:48.319 --> 00:19:01.200
So do yourself a favor if you're gonna eat a bunch of pistachios in one sitting, keep it to the single served bag, not the share with your homeboys bag, because it will do a number on you, and you will feel like you just gave birth.
00:19:01.440 --> 00:19:07.599
Or more importantly, at our age, the question arises fuck, am I getting hemorrhoids?
00:19:07.839 --> 00:19:10.880
Because I I seriously, for about 10 minutes, pondered that.
00:19:10.960 --> 00:19:21.839
I'm like, hemorrhoids can completely change my lifestyle, and I'm having all these concerns at hemorrhoid thoughts, and then I was like, I had this not too long ago, too.
00:19:22.000 --> 00:19:32.160
Then I realized I ate pistachios that day too, and so I realized you can overdose your intentional track on fucking pistachios.
00:19:32.559 --> 00:19:36.880
So be weary and don't eat too many pistachio nuts.
00:19:37.359 --> 00:19:41.680
Your asshole will thank you for it in more ways than one.
00:19:41.920 --> 00:19:47.920
Um I don't mind, you know, camping out on a toilet, but I don't want to feel like I'm shitting glass what I'm told.
00:19:53.200 --> 00:19:53.680
It's been a while.
00:19:53.759 --> 00:19:56.000
Did you do anything over the Fourth of July weekend?
00:19:56.559 --> 00:19:57.839
Uh I did not.
00:19:58.240 --> 00:20:04.400
I uh I actually just laid low and uh tried to stay cool.
00:20:05.680 --> 00:20:10.640
Let me ask you an honest question and think about it before you answer.
00:20:12.640 --> 00:20:23.680
If the 250th Fourth of July would have happened in oh, I don't know, 2010, 2016, would you have possibly celebrated it any differently?
00:20:27.119 --> 00:20:38.400
Yes, even if you were in the same living situation, have nothing to do with geographical location, more with mindset, how things are.
00:20:39.279 --> 00:20:51.200
Do you find that perhaps you're not in the current stage of our society, perhaps not as um rah-rah, Saskumbas you once were, or do you think it wouldn't matter?
00:20:51.359 --> 00:20:56.000
That if you were if you were back home in Fort Myers with your wife, would you have gone out?
00:20:56.240 --> 00:21:01.039
Would you have made a big deal about it, or would you just children home watch Netflix?
00:21:02.240 --> 00:21:09.519
Um, I probably would have done something because my neighborhood's pretty big on it.
00:21:09.759 --> 00:21:10.400
That's cool.
00:21:10.640 --> 00:21:17.759
And I have, you know, I have people there that I can hang out and drink with and you know make bad decisions.
00:21:17.839 --> 00:21:21.359
It's no fun to really, you know, really to make bad decisions on your own.
00:21:21.599 --> 00:21:30.000
Well, that's a good thing because if you're the type of person who thinks it's fun to make bad decisions on your own, you're called an alcoholic or a drug addict.
00:21:30.880 --> 00:21:38.880
That's the difference between responsible drinking and participation in other things and being an addict.
00:21:39.039 --> 00:21:43.599
Not that you do it on a daily basis, but the amount of what you consume on a daily basis.
00:21:43.759 --> 00:21:46.319
You come home, you kill a beer or two to relax, that's fine.
00:21:46.480 --> 00:21:50.799
You come home, you're killing a fucking twenty four a case of beer a night, you got a problem.
00:21:51.440 --> 00:21:58.160
Well, but to find responsible and sees 18 empty beers on the head of the table and go off work for two hours.
00:21:59.200 --> 00:21:59.759
Number twenty four.
00:22:00.240 --> 00:22:02.799
Yet, if I quit now, I'm responsible.
00:22:03.119 --> 00:22:04.880
Well, define responsibility.
00:22:04.960 --> 00:22:12.720
I mean, if you know, if if you drink to excess at home where nobody sees it, is that really being irresponsible?
00:22:13.119 --> 00:22:16.079
No, it's that's called a coping mechanism.
00:22:17.759 --> 00:22:19.759
It's called self-medicating.
00:22:24.960 --> 00:22:26.480
Comfortably numb, right?
00:22:27.920 --> 00:22:40.079
No, the only reason I ask is because, you know, can not that Carrie cared because we got two dogs that are terrified of fourth uh fireworks, and so the last few years, Fourth of July has kind of become Benadryl Day to us.
00:22:40.640 --> 00:22:44.160
But you know, I used to be more, you know, rah-rah, sis goomba.
00:22:44.799 --> 00:22:49.039
And I I I'm just so jaded as we talked about a few episodes.
00:22:49.119 --> 00:22:56.480
I'm just so jaded with everything across the spectrum that it's just like I was like cool.
00:22:56.559 --> 00:22:59.359
But anywho, so we tonight.
00:22:59.680 --> 00:23:07.839
I just it really it didn't even other than having that Friday off 4th of July rolled around, other than my neighbor's launch.
00:23:08.319 --> 00:23:11.599
By the way, look, I'm not anti-firework.
00:23:12.400 --> 00:23:20.240
When I worked at 96K Rock and Phantom Fireworks was a sponsor, and we'd have gift cards that no one picked up.
00:23:20.480 --> 00:23:26.640
By the way, not that it matters now, most radio stations are dead, but how it worked back then, Morgan won a prize as he often did.
00:23:26.799 --> 00:23:38.000
If he didn't show up by five o'clock before or up to the day that said event was, by five o'clock, that gift card gets thrown in the trash because it lost its value.
00:23:38.160 --> 00:23:42.799
Or those hockey tickets get lost in the tra thrown in the trash because they lost their value.
00:23:43.039 --> 00:23:50.799
We've I won't go over, but we've told a story many times about how I used to go to Everblades games for free twice a week because Wednesday rolled around and got 15 tickets.
00:23:50.960 --> 00:23:52.319
A place is two minutes across the street.
00:23:52.480 --> 00:23:53.440
I ain't got shit to do.
00:23:53.599 --> 00:23:56.880
Let's go have a few beers and watch some hockey and get some free seats.
00:23:57.839 --> 00:23:59.519
Same thing with these gift cards.
00:24:00.160 --> 00:24:02.319
Phantom Fireworks paid for the promotion.
00:24:04.480 --> 00:24:06.240
They want asses in the seat.
00:24:07.279 --> 00:24:13.759
Hey, here's two$50 gift cards basically at uh five o'clock tonight.
00:24:14.240 --> 00:24:15.440
I get out at six.
00:24:16.000 --> 00:24:17.839
These things have no value tomorrow.
00:24:18.640 --> 00:24:19.440
Or whatever.
00:24:19.599 --> 00:24:21.759
Maybe no, actually they were given to me.
00:24:21.839 --> 00:24:24.240
Those didn't because those you could use after 4th of July.
00:24:24.319 --> 00:24:27.680
But but there's two or three years in a row those were given to me.
00:24:27.759 --> 00:24:36.960
So I would have like$100 worth of gift certificates, and then I would go down there, and the manager would know who I was, and they would slip me an extra, you know, box or two, whatever.
00:24:37.119 --> 00:24:42.640
And so I would come home and I would light off fucking$150,$200 worth of fireworks because I was getting them for free.
00:24:42.880 --> 00:24:47.440
But my point is I'm not anti-mortar, I'm not like you know, Scrooge McDuck.
00:24:47.680 --> 00:24:49.119
I enjoy good mortar.
00:24:50.000 --> 00:25:05.519
I will say ever since you know the Seminole Casino and a Mockley event with me and Dave are with the fire chief at the firework launching site that uh public fireworks have lost their luster for me because when you see them from the launch pad versus seeing them in a crowd full of assholes, you can't go back after you've seen them from the launch pad.
00:25:06.240 --> 00:25:11.680
But my point is and I get it, some of it has to be kids who can't wait.
00:25:11.759 --> 00:25:13.119
Ooh, daddy, can we go launch?
00:25:13.279 --> 00:25:17.279
But who are these guys who are out there launching mortars at 7.30?
00:25:17.759 --> 00:25:19.599
It's like, dude, it's not even dark out.
00:25:20.000 --> 00:25:21.279
You can't see them.
00:25:22.079 --> 00:25:30.319
I'm not talking about I'm not talking about bottle rockets and you know, black cats, Roman candles.
00:25:30.720 --> 00:25:31.519
Fine, that's fine.
00:25:31.599 --> 00:25:38.559
I'm talking about eighteen dollar a piece of triple mortars that you have to f that are illegal in most states, and you get them here.
00:25:56.319 --> 00:25:56.960
Oh wow.
00:25:57.359 --> 00:25:57.839
That's good.
00:26:02.640 --> 00:26:03.680
Can you hear me?
00:26:03.920 --> 00:26:05.039
Oh yeah, hear me.
00:26:05.920 --> 00:26:06.960
Nice and hot.
00:26:07.920 --> 00:26:09.599
Yeah, well, we know what the problem is.
00:26:09.680 --> 00:26:10.880
Hold on one second.
00:26:11.759 --> 00:26:13.599
So did the board shit out.
00:26:14.000 --> 00:26:19.599
Yeah, so I had to pull out the uh formerly known as the At Computers Podcast Studio in a box.
00:26:20.160 --> 00:26:22.799
The one that I took to Mike's house that night.
00:26:23.839 --> 00:26:27.759
So input, microphone, let me turn down the volume on that.
00:26:37.279 --> 00:26:44.400
I'm gonna try to take that mixing board apart and see if I can.
00:26:48.799 --> 00:26:51.759
This should be getting audio.
00:26:53.519 --> 00:26:54.720
Hold on a minute.
00:26:59.039 --> 00:27:00.559
Actually, I don't need to hear me.
00:27:00.799 --> 00:27:02.079
I can hear you fine.
00:27:02.480 --> 00:27:03.839
This can't hear me talking, that's fine.
00:27:03.920 --> 00:27:04.400
Hold up.
00:27:04.640 --> 00:27:13.039
Um, more sound settings, recording, microphone, properties, level.
00:27:13.279 --> 00:27:14.319
Actually, the levels are fine.
00:27:14.480 --> 00:27:15.759
I'm gonna turn it down here a little bit.
00:27:15.839 --> 00:27:17.119
How's that better?
00:27:17.359 --> 00:27:18.880
Oh, yeah, that's great.
00:27:19.200 --> 00:27:19.519
Okay.
00:27:21.599 --> 00:27:23.839
So, yeah, my point being.
00:27:24.960 --> 00:27:32.319
So, my point being is I'm not anti-firework, but and I and I get your your kids may be a little impatient, or perhaps you're drunk.
00:27:32.400 --> 00:27:36.880
I just don't understand launching off, you know, the preemptive firework launch.
00:27:36.960 --> 00:27:41.279
Maybe launch one to make sure your your mortar ain't gonna fall over and shoot the mother-in-law in the face.
00:27:41.440 --> 00:27:46.799
But we're launching two or three of them, and it's not even dark yet, you're literally wasting like$30 a shot.
00:27:46.880 --> 00:27:49.759
It's insane to me, and it happens every time.
00:27:51.279 --> 00:28:03.200
Well, and I I think you were on to something with putting the kids to bed early so you can you know really get drunk and stupid and or it's the kid saying, Can we launch with the fireworks yet?
00:28:03.279 --> 00:28:04.000
It's three o'clock.
00:28:04.079 --> 00:28:05.440
Can we launch with the fireworks yet?
00:28:05.519 --> 00:28:06.400
It's four o'clock.
00:28:06.559 --> 00:28:08.799
Fuck it, it's only seven, but I don't give a shit.
00:28:08.880 --> 00:28:11.519
If you little fox want to see fireworks, here we go.
00:28:12.240 --> 00:28:18.319
Well, I think having a six-year-old grandson, I I understand that.
00:28:18.480 --> 00:28:19.359
Is it time yet?
00:28:19.519 --> 00:28:20.240
Is it time yet?
00:28:20.400 --> 00:28:22.000
Look how dark it's getting.
00:28:22.640 --> 00:28:25.519
Yeah, you give that little shit some snapping pops and send him on his way.
00:28:25.599 --> 00:28:26.720
He'll be all right.
00:28:27.440 --> 00:28:28.079
Yeah.
00:28:31.759 --> 00:28:32.400
Yeah.
00:28:33.680 --> 00:28:42.640
So I had to just jack my my dogs up with some Benadryl and and we're well on our way.
00:28:44.720 --> 00:28:45.359
Yeah.
00:28:49.759 --> 00:28:53.279
But oftentimes when you have Fourth of July, you have barbecues.
00:28:53.839 --> 00:29:03.200
And as we were discussing earlier, my my daughter's you know, she's got a baby daddy now, and they're doing their thing, and everything's good to go and whatnot.
00:29:03.680 --> 00:29:13.680
But uh, they invited me and Carrie, of course, to their house a few days after the baby shower, or the day after 4th of July, for a barbecue.
00:29:14.000 --> 00:29:15.279
Right on, right on.
00:29:15.920 --> 00:29:21.519
So we go over there and we get there, and Sarianna, her sister's there, but her boyfriend's not there yet.
00:29:22.079 --> 00:29:25.200
And he's supposed to be cooking this Brazilian meat and chicken.
00:29:25.440 --> 00:29:26.640
It's like three o'clock.
00:29:27.119 --> 00:29:28.000
He's not here yet.
00:29:28.079 --> 00:29:29.680
I'm starving, I hadn't eaten all day.
00:29:29.920 --> 00:29:37.119
He shows up with some of her friends, which was cool, because uh basically they surprised her with a cake and she didn't know her friends are coming over.
00:29:37.200 --> 00:29:39.599
It was kind of like a last-minute surprise birthday party.
00:29:39.680 --> 00:29:43.440
Because you know, it kind of sucks when your birthday is on July 3rd because everybody has plans, right?
00:29:43.839 --> 00:29:48.400
It's a holiday weekend, they got shit going on, so it's kind of a bummer having a July 3rd birthday party.
00:29:48.480 --> 00:29:50.559
But so July 5th rolls around.
00:29:51.680 --> 00:29:55.680
But he he said, Okay, I'm gonna go cook the meat.
00:29:56.000 --> 00:29:59.519
And he's and they and they live in an apartment, they got this very cool.
00:30:00.079 --> 00:30:08.240
You know, when he said I'm gonna cook on the apartment grill, I'm thinking, great, it's gonna be one of those steel boxes with the the dirty ass grate that you see at every city park in the world.
00:30:08.480 --> 00:30:15.200
But no, this is like some cinder block built thing with stucco on it, it had a a crank that the whole tray lifts up.
00:30:15.759 --> 00:30:17.200
Yeah, like the one at Lakes Park, yeah.
00:30:17.359 --> 00:30:20.000
Yeah, real nice, right next to the pool.
00:30:20.799 --> 00:30:28.960
And I see him walking out there with a plate of beef and a big old Tupware dish full of marinated chicken.
00:30:30.079 --> 00:30:34.240
And that's like, he just got back from Lehigh.
00:30:34.480 --> 00:30:45.680
Now I know this is not just a global show, but for those of you listening, to drive from Fort Myers to Lehigh and back, that's an hour and a half round trip with with with holiday traffic.
00:30:46.640 --> 00:30:50.480
And I see him carry, I'm like, is the grill yet going yet?
00:30:50.720 --> 00:30:51.039
No.
00:30:51.839 --> 00:31:00.079
Now, Morgan, would you be concerned if someone's taking a plate of chicken and a plate of meat outside when the grill hasn't even started yet?
00:31:00.400 --> 00:31:01.680
Oh yeah, yeah.
00:31:02.000 --> 00:31:04.160
Barbecue grill, not propane.
00:31:04.880 --> 00:31:06.960
Yeah, you gotta get those coals hot.
00:31:07.200 --> 00:31:18.240
Now, and and for those of our audience who maybe has never ran a barbecue grill, how long on average does it take a charcoal grill to get to cooking temperature?
00:31:18.799 --> 00:31:21.279
Oh gosh, 20, 30 minutes.
00:31:21.599 --> 00:31:22.559
Precisely.
00:31:23.119 --> 00:31:27.200
And so um he comes back in, he goes back out, and I look at Carrie said, I'll be right back.
00:31:27.279 --> 00:31:28.400
She's like, What's the matter?
00:31:28.559 --> 00:31:31.279
I said, it's it's 92 degrees out.
00:31:31.839 --> 00:31:47.519
He just carried a plate of raw meat, and more importantly, uh a casserole dish full of marinated raw chicken outside to start a grill, and it takes a minimum of 30 minutes for that grill to get to cooking temperature.
00:31:48.240 --> 00:31:51.519
He's a Brazilian cat, his brother was there, another friend of theirs.
00:31:51.680 --> 00:31:55.920
So I go outside, and there's three 20-year-olds sitting around a barbecue grill.
00:31:57.039 --> 00:32:03.200
As I suggested, the pork and the beef and the chicken are direct sunlight, not even under the gazebo.
00:32:04.960 --> 00:32:12.880
And I look under the tray, and down on his feet is a bag of classic blue and white Kingsford.
00:32:13.920 --> 00:32:32.559
Not the red bag, not matchlight, just run of the mill, as we spoke about three weeks ago, fucking Henry Ford, Kingsford, model A bits, all black, and in the center, a little gray ring, all black coal.
00:32:34.480 --> 00:32:39.279
And I look at him, it's like I said, first off, you need to take that chicken in.
00:32:39.440 --> 00:32:40.720
He's like 23.
00:32:40.960 --> 00:32:43.359
You need to take that chicken and that meat inside.
00:32:43.440 --> 00:32:43.920
He's like, Why?
00:32:44.000 --> 00:32:47.359
He's like, because it's gonna take 30 minutes to get the cooking temperature and it's out in the sun.
00:32:47.599 --> 00:32:49.440
So do me a favor, take it inside.
00:32:49.759 --> 00:32:52.319
So he takes inside, he comes back out.
00:32:52.400 --> 00:32:55.519
I said, Where's your Where's your lighter fluid at?
00:32:55.599 --> 00:32:57.599
We gotta get this, we gotta get this party going.
00:32:58.640 --> 00:33:00.559
He said, Oh, I don't have any lighter fluid.
00:33:01.119 --> 00:33:03.119
I'm using vegetable oil.
00:33:07.200 --> 00:33:20.240
Technically, vegetable oil burns, but it doesn't exactly when you're when you're firing up a barbecue grill, you're looking for the absolutely, that's the whole purpose of it.
00:33:20.480 --> 00:33:26.400
You look for, you know, if if it isn't something that Clark Griswold would do, it ain't gonna work for you, right?
00:33:26.559 --> 00:33:30.160
You want the you want singed nose hairs, you want, you know, yeah.
00:33:31.839 --> 00:33:32.240
Yeah.
00:33:32.480 --> 00:33:36.400
If this was it doesn't singe the hair off your arms, you didn't do it right.
00:33:36.559 --> 00:33:41.599
If this is an Adam Sander comedy, you should turn around and just a little tip of my hat should be on fire, you know.
00:33:41.920 --> 00:33:43.279
You you want the whoof.
00:33:43.599 --> 00:33:48.000
If it was a Tom and Jerry cartoon, I would turn around and my whole face would be burnt black.
00:33:49.200 --> 00:33:51.440
He's like, No, I use I'm using vegetable oil.
00:33:51.599 --> 00:33:54.480
I said, Man, I'll I'll once again now it's almost four o'clock.
00:33:54.559 --> 00:33:57.599
I've got 30 minutes, then the time to cook the food.
00:33:58.160 --> 00:33:59.839
I said, I'll be back.
00:34:02.000 --> 00:34:04.079
Three miles from a dollar general.
00:34:05.200 --> 00:34:06.720
Well, of course, it's Florida.
00:34:07.039 --> 00:34:08.559
I zip down to a dollar general.
00:34:08.639 --> 00:34:22.320
I get the generic scotch, the match ready, because I'm thinking we'll we'll salt and pepper some of these guys in there to help get the non you know match lights shit burning, you know, help him out a little bit past the past the love room.
00:34:22.639 --> 00:34:27.920
Plus, he's got a shitload of food and a little extra, a little extra uh charcoal never hurt nobody.
00:34:28.239 --> 00:34:30.000
So I'm checking out and the phone rings.
00:34:33.760 --> 00:34:37.039
Hello, this is he and it's scary.
00:34:37.119 --> 00:34:38.480
She's like, uh, where are you at?
00:34:38.559 --> 00:34:39.599
I'm like, I'm heading back.
00:34:39.679 --> 00:34:39.920
Why?
00:34:40.079 --> 00:34:41.840
Because they're getting ready to cook.
00:34:44.159 --> 00:34:44.880
What the fuck?
00:34:45.840 --> 00:34:59.199
I'm how long did it take me to drive three miles, grab a freaking long nose lighter, some lighter fluid, and about I'm thinking, I said, okay, I'll tell them to hold on, I'll be there in a minute.
00:34:59.920 --> 00:35:01.119
What the fuck?
00:35:02.239 --> 00:35:10.239
I can I can't I can just imagine because you know, one of the biggest mistakes people make growing is A, the the charcoal's not hot enough, and B, they fuck with their meat too much.
00:35:10.320 --> 00:35:11.440
Flip it once and leave it alone.
00:35:11.599 --> 00:35:13.840
People just constantly flipping, constantly because they don't know any better.
00:35:13.920 --> 00:35:16.480
All right, just keep flipping, and your hamburger falls apart, it falls through the grate.
00:35:16.559 --> 00:35:17.679
We've all been there.
00:35:18.400 --> 00:35:23.119
So I get back and I walk inside, and she's like, they're ready to go.
00:35:23.199 --> 00:35:24.159
I'm like, what are you talking about?
00:35:24.239 --> 00:35:26.159
I've been gone like 12 minutes.
00:35:26.480 --> 00:35:32.239
I get out there, peek my head down, all the charcoals are white.
00:35:32.800 --> 00:35:35.039
It's up the temperature, and I look down on the ground.
00:35:35.199 --> 00:35:38.559
Motherfucker, there was a battery-operated leaf blower.
00:35:39.280 --> 00:35:42.320
These sons of bitches completely humbled me.
00:35:43.440 --> 00:35:52.159
Now, a barbecue aficionado will say, Hey, that works, but you greatly reduced the cook time by fucking fast-forwarding the heat cycle on this.
00:35:52.400 --> 00:35:57.199
But he was there cooking the fucking steak, cooking the chicken.
00:35:57.360 --> 00:35:58.480
Dude's from Brazil.
00:35:58.559 --> 00:35:59.360
That's on me.
00:35:59.440 --> 00:36:00.239
I should have known.
00:36:00.320 --> 00:36:01.280
He made me he helped.
00:36:01.360 --> 00:36:05.760
I said, dude, you're fucking so in a pinch, guys.
00:36:05.840 --> 00:36:15.199
You had too many beers, you forgot to pick up lighter fluid, your wife's two in the bag, no one can drive, vegetable oil, and a fucking leaf blower.
00:36:15.360 --> 00:36:16.639
Obviously, you gotta have a clean grill.
00:36:16.719 --> 00:36:17.920
You don't want ashes in there.
00:36:18.159 --> 00:36:19.519
You're fucking good to go.
00:36:19.679 --> 00:36:22.960
He made the best goddamn beef and chicken.
00:36:23.440 --> 00:36:29.360
And we sat there and fucking were drinking Brazilian bourbon and all this other shit.
00:36:29.840 --> 00:36:33.920
I'm gonna go back again, but yeah, he complete proved me fucking wrong.
00:36:34.079 --> 00:36:37.039
Here's the old here's the old white guy who thinks he knows he's talking about.
00:36:37.119 --> 00:36:39.840
I come back and fucking that thing is just blazing hot.
00:36:40.000 --> 00:36:43.440
Fucking leaf blower and a little bit of vegetable is all you need, fellas.
00:36:43.599 --> 00:36:50.719
He got the four and just he cranked it up, poured some more fucking charcoal in there when he needed it, cranked it back down.
00:36:51.039 --> 00:36:52.159
Fucking perfect.
00:36:52.400 --> 00:36:58.719
So I guess the lesson to be learned is next time, just let them prove you're right.
00:36:58.800 --> 00:37:01.039
Don't let them prove you're wrong, let them prove you're right.
00:37:01.280 --> 00:37:04.320
My stomach was thinking, God, we gotta fast forward this show.
00:37:04.559 --> 00:37:07.679
As Morgan said from his life experience, it's gonna take 20 minutes.
00:37:07.840 --> 00:37:12.320
No, with a leaf blur and a little bit of vegetable oil, it took five and a half minutes to get that shit at the temperature.
00:37:12.480 --> 00:37:14.960
Because I'm telling you, I was three miles from their house.
00:37:15.119 --> 00:37:18.400
So three miles at 45 miles an hour downtown Fort Myers.
00:37:18.559 --> 00:37:20.400
Yeah, let's say 10 eight.
00:37:20.480 --> 00:37:25.920
So within 15, 20 minutes, he had that thing going because it took me 10 minutes to get there, 10 minutes back.
00:37:26.400 --> 00:37:34.320
Didn't need my lighter fluid, didn't need my scotch, my uh match light, just needed a little bit of vegetable oil and a battery-operated leaf blower.
00:37:35.280 --> 00:37:44.239
We used to use uh we used to use air mattress pumps when we were you know when we scout camp to get the campfire roaring.
00:37:44.719 --> 00:37:45.519
Mm-hmm.
00:37:46.239 --> 00:37:53.679
So you ever see like the um they dig the hole and then they dig the carb in there?
00:37:54.079 --> 00:37:55.119
Yeah, yeah.
00:37:58.320 --> 00:38:00.559
Yeah, we we did that a couple of times.
00:38:00.639 --> 00:38:02.000
That's pretty cool.
00:38:03.519 --> 00:38:07.280
I'm like two weeks into my analog watch.
00:38:07.519 --> 00:38:09.360
I was gonna ask you, how's that going?
00:38:09.760 --> 00:38:11.119
Fucking love it.
00:38:12.719 --> 00:38:18.960
I now realize, and and I and I got to thinking, I think when we talked about it, I don't think I gave it enough credit.
00:38:19.039 --> 00:38:25.840
I forgot before my Garmin, which I've had for since 2019, I had two Fitbits.
00:38:26.079 --> 00:38:31.199
So I've been getting notifications on my arm since about 2012.
00:38:32.480 --> 00:38:38.239
So almost, you know, 12 years, a little bit longer.
00:38:38.320 --> 00:38:44.400
I've been getting by it's the vibration, it's the anxiety that comes from just constant.
00:38:44.639 --> 00:38:47.440
It's not the beep, it's the vibration non-stop.
00:38:48.239 --> 00:38:52.639
Every little and every time you get a new phone, I go and turn off notifications.
00:38:53.440 --> 00:38:54.320
Perfect example.
00:38:54.400 --> 00:38:57.599
I put my garment on the other night to work out.
00:38:58.960 --> 00:38:59.840
Arm rows.
00:39:00.559 --> 00:39:01.440
It's 92.
00:39:01.840 --> 00:39:07.280
For some reason, the weather app decided to send me fucking text sending me notifications that are showing up on my phones that I could turn it off.
00:39:07.519 --> 00:39:18.000
I'm like, no wonder between tech and and keep in mind, I already had all the notifications I had enabled on my phone were text messages in my home cameras.
00:39:18.320 --> 00:39:38.320
So whenever emotion kicks off my cameras, but just for that, and usually it was when you know you get in that inevitable cycle of the uh the annoying text chain where she's like, Hey everybody, tomorrow's my birthday, and then 38 people text back, and everything like if your watch was sitting on the table, it'd vibrate on the fucking floor.
00:39:38.480 --> 00:39:39.199
It's that.
00:39:39.519 --> 00:39:48.079
So if you guys are smartwatch people and you're doing it simply for the notifications, take the shit off, try it for two weeks.
00:39:48.239 --> 00:40:05.760
If you're truly using it for health reasons, counting your steps, watching your macros, fine, but do yourself a favor, disable all 100% of your fucking notification so that that thing doesn't do anything other than tell time, track your heartbeat and your steps, and it synchronizes to your watch.
00:40:05.840 --> 00:40:12.159
Turn off all the double cross communication, have a one-way communication from that device to your phone, and that's it.
00:40:12.400 --> 00:40:20.079
It is it's I mean, I don't want to sound like it's I'm like, but it's seriously just something that small.
00:40:20.239 --> 00:40:22.480
We are so over data nowadays.
00:40:22.800 --> 00:40:24.639
Just something that small.
00:40:24.880 --> 00:40:27.920
Yeah, furthermore, it's less data I'm letting them sell to make money off of right.
00:40:28.000 --> 00:40:33.360
They don't need to know how many steps I'm walking a day, they don't need to know what time what my heart rate was at fucking 10 a.m.
00:40:33.599 --> 00:40:36.880
the morning and from you know, fuck it, they don't need all that data.
00:40:37.199 --> 00:40:43.360
So do yourself a favor, start minimizing your digital footprint.
00:40:43.760 --> 00:40:59.199
So speaking of that, real quick, since we both work in a pseudo-corporate environment, how many how many people do you have in your average email thread chain, whatever?
00:41:00.079 --> 00:41:08.079
Well, I'm not a fair person to ask us to because I work a support desk and technically 100% of my communications are in the form of an email.
00:41:08.159 --> 00:41:12.880
I just see it in a different format because it's written on a website and not in an inbox, my outlook.
00:41:13.039 --> 00:41:17.920
But technically, every one of those are in my outbook, my inbox, and my outlook.
00:41:18.159 --> 00:41:19.760
So literally 100%.
00:41:20.880 --> 00:41:21.519
No, no, no.
00:41:21.599 --> 00:41:29.199
I mean, like, if you if you send an email, does it go to one, five, a hundred people?
00:41:30.239 --> 00:41:48.000
Where um teams, all of our inner office communications are doing in Teams in real time, and they know if you're at your desk because if you're idle too long, you're if you're working on something, teams are smart enough, they'll set it to red, or if your mouse isn't moved, they'll set it to red.
00:41:48.320 --> 00:41:52.800
So, worse, at least email you have some plausible deniability.
00:41:52.880 --> 00:41:54.639
Oh, I haven't seen that yet.
00:41:54.880 --> 00:42:03.199
But once again, I was at least smart enough that I don't log into my teams on my phone unless I'm homesick or working from home.
00:42:03.360 --> 00:42:11.519
Yeah, because the last thing I need is the team's notification on my computer, the team's notification on my phone, and then the motherfucker vibrating my phone.
00:42:13.199 --> 00:42:25.280
So, yes, um, it's even worse, Teams, because it's boom and it's real time, and they're expecting you to acknowledge that with a thumbs up, okay, whatever.
00:42:25.360 --> 00:42:28.159
At least in an email, you have the plausible deniability.
00:42:28.239 --> 00:42:31.119
Oh, I didn't check my email yet, or I haven't gotten to it yet.
00:42:31.199 --> 00:42:32.960
But to your point, go ahead.
00:42:33.360 --> 00:42:43.920
So, in in my environment, it's not uncommon for an email to go out to anywhere between 50 and 300 people.
00:42:44.880 --> 00:42:46.719
And I don't know what it is.
00:42:46.880 --> 00:43:01.760
I'm an old guy, I never had any formal office training, and I understand the concept of if somebody sends me an email, I can reply just to the person that sent me the email.
00:43:05.280 --> 00:43:11.599
Reply all is the worst thing that's ever happened to an office environment.
00:43:11.920 --> 00:43:14.800
It's the corporate equivalent of the group text.
00:43:15.199 --> 00:43:26.079
Yeah, I I I can't remember what what the topic was, but it went out to 300 people, and about a hundred people hit reply all.
00:43:26.960 --> 00:43:37.840
And I'm like, oh it's enough to make you want to take your you know your big pen and gouge your eyeballs out so you don't have to look at it anymore.
00:43:38.159 --> 00:43:41.840
And it's worse when most of those replies are just like acknowledged or okay.
00:43:43.599 --> 00:43:50.320
They're not replying back anything that's adds value to the conversation or to the email strand.
00:43:50.639 --> 00:43:50.960
Yeah.
00:43:51.199 --> 00:43:52.960
It's usually 38 confirmations.
00:43:53.840 --> 00:43:55.840
You're dirtying up my inbox.
00:43:56.239 --> 00:43:57.679
Oh yeah, yeah.
00:43:58.000 --> 00:43:59.519
Which my inbox is now.
00:44:00.239 --> 00:44:04.079
Up to uh forty two hundred on read emails.
00:44:06.079 --> 00:44:22.559
And so just just a sheer volume of stuff that I receive that I can look at the uh uh you know, just the the preview.
00:44:22.800 --> 00:44:25.360
I don't even need to leave read the email.
00:44:25.760 --> 00:44:32.079
I got you know, I was able to glean enough information from just the preview that I don't even have to do anything with it.
00:44:32.320 --> 00:45:04.960
Well, wait until the day comes where your company gets forced into a situation where they're gonna have to onboard a new MSP, and then MSP comes and says, you know, there's really no reason for you guys to have six fucking servers on site spread across 14 different areas with three VPNs, communicating an email when we can onboard you into Microsoft Azure, connect you to cloud-based servers, get all your team on Teams and SharePoint, and then you're gonna long for the day you have email because now you're on Microsoft Teams and email.
00:45:05.199 --> 00:45:10.079
And if you don't know, Microsoft Teams is like MSN Messenger with Zoom built in.
00:45:10.239 --> 00:45:18.239
They can call you, they can hit a button, and boom, you answer it, and you're on video, or you're on a voice call, or it's just a simple message like AOL Messenger back in the day.
00:45:18.320 --> 00:45:22.559
It's all that it's basically a corporate version of my Facebook Messenger.
00:45:22.880 --> 00:45:23.920
Oh, yeah, yeah.
00:45:24.480 --> 00:45:35.039
So we use uh uh we use the Google suite of stuff, and you know, so we have all of that.
00:45:35.199 --> 00:45:38.719
We have well, see, Microsoft's not original in any way, shape, or form.
00:45:38.800 --> 00:45:45.760
They basically stole the Google Office Docs platform and then put in their Messenger app and called a Microsoft 365.
00:45:45.840 --> 00:45:51.760
So their SharePoint is the same as Google Drive, they just rebranded everything, but then they have the Messenger built and tied into it all.
00:45:52.000 --> 00:45:59.840
So when you share a file that's over 25 megs, instead of it being sent from the messenger, it uploads a SharePoint and sends you a link so that it's saved in the cloud.
00:46:00.000 --> 00:46:00.559
But yeah.
00:46:08.880 --> 00:46:11.920
So another question: did you make your goal?
00:46:15.360 --> 00:46:16.719
How short were you?
00:46:17.760 --> 00:46:20.239
Uh eight 12 miles.
00:46:20.719 --> 00:46:22.639
I just ran out of time.
00:46:22.960 --> 00:46:32.079
See, for the for those you guys don't know, every year for like the last seven or eight years, I run the amount of miles that I turn on my birthday.
00:46:32.159 --> 00:46:35.199
So I'd but my between my birthday is on June 29th.
00:46:35.280 --> 00:46:40.239
So from June 1st to June 29th, if I'm turning 48, I gotta run 48 miles with a net spam.
00:46:40.400 --> 00:46:45.119
But the rub is I have to maintain my normal schedule.
00:46:45.360 --> 00:46:49.280
I can't say, hey guys, I'm not doing a podcast tonight, I gotta get some miles in.
00:46:49.519 --> 00:46:54.800
I can't say, hey guys, I'm not going fishing tonight, or hey guys, I'm not playing video games like I normally do.
00:46:54.880 --> 00:47:01.840
It's do all my normal shit, but instead of working out, up my miles.
00:47:02.000 --> 00:47:04.480
And so I was I was doing it consistently.
00:47:04.559 --> 00:47:05.840
I got with ChatGPT.
00:47:05.920 --> 00:47:11.519
All I had to do was a simple two and a 2.6 miles six days a week.
00:47:11.760 --> 00:47:12.719
One rest day.
00:47:12.880 --> 00:47:13.599
Not a big deal.
00:47:13.679 --> 00:47:26.239
It sounds like a lot, but for those of you guys who don't know, I'm I'm not a long distance runner, but for me, when I say I'm going out running, it's a minimum, a minimum of a 5k, which is three miles.
00:47:26.320 --> 00:47:34.239
So when I go running, unless I'm completely just beat up or fucking my knees are killing, you know, I'm running three miles every time.
00:47:34.400 --> 00:47:36.480
Worst case scenario, a mile and a half.
00:47:36.719 --> 00:47:41.039
And so I'm some nights I'm putting in the bare middle 2.6, some nights I'm putting in three.
00:47:41.119 --> 00:47:42.719
There's a couple nights I put in four.
00:47:42.960 --> 00:47:48.880
But basically, as my birthday came along, like I said, June 28th, I'm at a baby shower.
00:47:48.960 --> 00:47:50.480
That was one of my run days.
00:47:50.719 --> 00:47:53.599
Um, you know, June 29th was my birthday.
00:47:53.760 --> 00:48:01.199
There's like I had like four days left, I needed 10 miles, and it was just one obligation kept popping up after the other.
00:48:01.360 --> 00:48:04.000
And by that point, I am not getting younger.
00:48:04.239 --> 00:48:07.519
That's why old people run long distances because we get slower.
00:48:07.679 --> 00:48:16.639
But but at that point, my knees were killing me, my shins hurt, and I made a big, big faux pas.
00:48:17.039 --> 00:48:19.519
And for those who run regularly, they will know this.
00:48:19.599 --> 00:48:24.320
And if you're getting into running and you don't know this, this would be helpful.
00:48:24.559 --> 00:48:33.119
If you're running multiple times a week, even if it's every other day, you need a minimum of two pairs of shoes.
00:48:34.480 --> 00:48:43.360
Because as you run, especially if you're six foot five and over 220 pounds, that foam cushioning, because all the shoes now are space age foam.
00:48:43.519 --> 00:48:46.079
It's not like the Nikes that we ran in the 90s.
00:48:46.239 --> 00:48:52.159
Every even if you get the minimum, and it has, and long story short, you're out running three, four, twelve miles.
00:48:52.320 --> 00:48:59.519
That foam breaks down, and even though it rests for two days, it hasn't had a chance to re-expand.
00:48:59.599 --> 00:49:05.840
And so when you're running five, six nights a week, three miles at a piece, you should be rotating.
00:49:05.920 --> 00:49:13.599
So Monday you're running your brooks, Tuesday you're running your sanctionies, Wednesday you're off, Thursday you're running your brooks, Fridays you're running your sanctionies, Saturday.
00:49:13.679 --> 00:49:16.639
You're running your maybe even have a third pair of shoes.
00:49:17.039 --> 00:49:26.000
And that my shoes at my weight, I can usually get about 230 miles per shoes before they break down to the point where I start getting shin splints and ankles hurt.
00:49:26.320 --> 00:49:31.519
So not only were my not only did I run in the same pair of shoes for before I realized it.
00:49:35.119 --> 00:49:38.639
I was rotating, but at that point I'd beaten them down and my knees were hurting.
00:49:38.719 --> 00:49:43.199
And that and my current running shoes are were already about 180 miles in.
00:49:43.280 --> 00:49:48.639
And so I'm haves that were worth past their running lifespan for me.
00:49:48.719 --> 00:49:50.000
And it's different for everybody.
00:49:50.159 --> 00:49:58.320
If you're a 30-year-old hundred 98-pound chick, you can get 50 miles out of your shoes because you we have to wait, it's just like anything else, you know.
00:49:58.880 --> 00:50:08.400
If you you know, a bump stop on a Volkswagen Beetle will last a hell of a longer than a bump stock on an F350 that's always carrying cinder block around.
00:50:08.480 --> 00:50:12.239
You know, that rubber, that rubber stop is gonna so everything's like that.
00:50:12.480 --> 00:50:15.840
And so I got to the point where I was running my knee.
00:50:16.000 --> 00:50:18.719
Uh and 100% clarity.
00:50:18.880 --> 00:50:21.440
When I say running, there's a lot of walking involved too.
00:50:21.519 --> 00:50:23.519
It's just it's it's getting in miles.
00:50:23.599 --> 00:50:25.519
I'm you know, I'm not running three miles.
00:50:25.599 --> 00:50:26.320
I used to.
00:50:26.480 --> 00:50:29.679
I used to go out and run the way it's working now as I get older.
00:50:29.920 --> 00:50:32.480
My first mile and a half, I do more walking than running.
00:50:32.559 --> 00:50:37.360
It takes about a mile and a half for my pains to not go away, but for my body to ignore them.
00:50:37.599 --> 00:50:46.719
And so when I have a consistent running schedule, like when I was training to run that 30k and end up doing 15k because they canceled the 30k when that mic spotted me.
00:50:47.199 --> 00:50:50.719
I was running consistently, I was rotating my shoes, I had a plan.
00:50:50.880 --> 00:50:56.480
But even then, at 47, the first mile and a half, I run, walk, run, walk.
00:50:56.639 --> 00:51:00.400
And usually by two miles, my body's ignoring the pain.
00:51:00.480 --> 00:51:06.079
And then mile three through six, I would run, you know, I would do more running than walking.
00:51:06.320 --> 00:51:12.559
And so as time goes by, your body gets numb to it or woken up to it, or whatever terminology you want to use.
00:51:12.800 --> 00:51:16.400
And the further you go, the easier it is to run those distances.
00:51:16.480 --> 00:51:21.840
Where at the very beginning, my ankles are hurting, my shins are fucking killing me, and then I just gotta suck it up.
00:51:21.920 --> 00:51:28.960
You'll you'll you'll get kind of like when you go out, you know, you go out and do something on a Saturday, you wake up Monday and your fucking body hurts.
00:51:29.199 --> 00:51:33.199
You get out of bed, but by noon you're feeling all right because your body's used to moving.
00:51:33.440 --> 00:51:39.280
Same thing with the running, and so, but long story short, I was I was like seven maybe seven or eight miles.
00:51:39.360 --> 00:51:40.880
I'd have to go back and look.
00:51:41.199 --> 00:51:44.719
And Carrie's like, Well, no one's gonna know, just tell them you you ran it.
00:51:44.800 --> 00:51:47.679
I'm like, tell who I'm not posting shit online.
00:51:47.760 --> 00:51:49.760
This is between me and me.
00:51:49.920 --> 00:51:54.159
I'll if I'd be lying to myself, but now I was like, you know what, fuck it.
00:51:54.480 --> 00:51:58.800
And so since then, I'm back to my weight lifting schedule.
00:51:59.039 --> 00:52:10.079
Um, because believe it or not, if you work out lifting weights consistently, and then you you can lose a percentage of your gains within two weeks without working out.
00:52:10.320 --> 00:52:14.480
So that month of me not lifting weights, I could tell a difference in my arms nut.
00:52:14.719 --> 00:52:25.679
And so I'm going back to the working out and running once, running twice a week, where I used to run three times a week and work out, so I've switched it just because I'm getting older, you know.
00:52:26.000 --> 00:52:28.239
And I'm gonna do different stuff.
00:52:28.320 --> 00:52:30.960
Just like I'm glutting for a punishment.
00:52:31.119 --> 00:52:35.679
They haven't announced the date yet, but I watched a video called The World's Toughest Mile.
00:52:36.400 --> 00:52:41.360
Now I've ran five obstacle course races, three of them being no six.
00:52:41.519 --> 00:52:53.199
I've ran I ran three savage races, two tough motor, not two tough motors, two um, they went out of business, man, manic runs and something else.
00:52:53.280 --> 00:53:00.239
But and I've ran long story short, if you go to Athlings, I've ran 23 registered races.
00:53:00.400 --> 00:53:03.119
So that's registered races plus all the training that goes into that.
00:53:03.199 --> 00:53:05.519
But I've done a lot of obstacle course races, I've done a lot of running.
00:53:05.679 --> 00:53:10.000
Well, I saw this one and they're they're going on tour, and I've already done one.
00:53:10.239 --> 00:53:12.960
I think started in Hollywood, and the last one's gonna be in Miami.
00:53:13.039 --> 00:53:15.039
It's the world's toughest mile.
00:53:16.000 --> 00:53:21.760
The first lap four was it, 400 meters is in your normal running track like at high school.
00:53:22.159 --> 00:53:22.800
I think so.
00:53:23.280 --> 00:53:27.440
First lap burpees.
00:53:28.559 --> 00:53:29.519
Oh man.
00:53:30.239 --> 00:53:32.960
Second lap lunges.
00:53:34.960 --> 00:53:37.920
Third lap, bear crawls.
00:53:38.960 --> 00:53:40.559
Final lap, run.
00:53:41.360 --> 00:53:44.000
I'm calling it the world's toughest mile.
00:53:44.400 --> 00:53:45.679
Oh my gosh.
00:53:45.920 --> 00:53:47.920
That's a lot of goddamn burpees.
00:53:48.159 --> 00:53:48.880
Yeah, it is.
00:53:49.039 --> 00:53:51.119
No, I'm sorry, not technically they're not burpees.
00:53:51.280 --> 00:53:52.800
They're it's still the same thing.
00:53:52.880 --> 00:53:57.119
You gotta jump, get down on your hands, pick yourself up, jump.
00:53:57.199 --> 00:54:02.159
I it's basically it's a burpee without the jumping in the air and throwing the jumping jack then.
00:54:02.320 --> 00:54:05.039
But yeah, you're you're lunging, jumping forward, get down, get up.
00:54:05.119 --> 00:54:12.159
Yep, you do that for 400 meters, then you do lunges, then you do bear crawls, and believe it or not, it's the bear crawl that fucks people up.
00:54:12.400 --> 00:54:13.360
Oh, yeah, I bet.
00:54:13.760 --> 00:54:26.559
Crawling on your hands and knees with your ass in the air, and then you throw in the so I'm I I I might start training for that, which I'm sure my numbers like neighbors will love to see my 48-year-old ass pull bear crawls up and down my street.
00:54:26.719 --> 00:54:28.079
But how's how else you train?
00:54:28.239 --> 00:54:29.039
I mean, they're used to it, right?
00:54:29.119 --> 00:54:33.360
For the last 10 years, they've seen me carrying fucking sandbags on my shoulder.
00:54:33.599 --> 00:54:39.519
Fucking got a I don't carry it as much anymore, but I used to carry a Lowe's bucket up and down the street.
00:54:39.599 --> 00:54:43.039
Of course, they don't know how heavy it is, but it had 70 pounds worth of gravel in it.
00:54:43.199 --> 00:54:51.039
So put that on my shoulder and lug that up and down the street, or the bulletproof vest, as some might call it, my rucking vest, or the backpack.
00:54:51.119 --> 00:54:54.000
So they're used to see me carrying goofy shit up and down the road.
00:54:54.320 --> 00:54:56.800
But yeah, uh, that one might be kind of fun.
00:54:56.960 --> 00:55:00.320
It's gonna suck, but it'd be nice just to say I did it.
00:55:00.880 --> 00:55:02.000
Yeah, definitely.
00:55:02.239 --> 00:55:05.440
That's uh that's brutal, though, man.
00:55:05.679 --> 00:55:06.400
Golly.
00:55:06.880 --> 00:55:07.280
Mm-hmm.
00:55:08.320 --> 00:55:09.119
Kick your own ass.
00:55:09.199 --> 00:55:10.320
That's what it's all about.
00:55:10.559 --> 00:55:10.960
Yeah.
00:55:11.199 --> 00:55:12.239
Why do you do this stuff?
00:55:12.320 --> 00:55:14.880
Because I want to know that I'm still not a pussy.
00:55:18.079 --> 00:55:18.719
Yeah.
00:55:19.440 --> 00:55:31.119
I want to know if you find yourself in an emergency situation that if somebody has to go, like they said in Fury and in the Bible passage, I am here, send me.
00:55:31.280 --> 00:55:32.719
Or here am I, send me.
00:55:32.960 --> 00:55:38.639
Speaking of which, as we wrap up the show, because Ben, we've rescheduled, so I don't know if we covered it.
00:55:38.800 --> 00:55:39.360
I don't think we did.
00:55:39.840 --> 00:55:44.800
Do you hear about the chick in Venezuela, the pilot training school?
00:55:45.360 --> 00:55:46.000
Yeah.
00:55:46.400 --> 00:55:50.079
For those you don't know, this lady's taking her pilot's last classes.
00:55:50.159 --> 00:55:56.559
I they're not her first one, but it was before her solo flight, because if this was her solo flight, it wouldn't be a news story.
00:55:56.880 --> 00:56:05.920
She's flying a plane, instructor's like 30, looks over her, says, Well, I think he got it from here.
00:56:06.480 --> 00:56:12.559
Straight out of a movie, opens a Cess in the door and throws himself out.
00:56:14.719 --> 00:56:16.719
No parachute, in case you're asking.
00:56:20.559 --> 00:56:32.639
Not only does she have to land a plane by herself on a flight that was not considered to be a solo flight, so you weren't really you're in the back of your head saying, Can I get a few more of these before I gotta land this bad boy by myself?
00:56:33.440 --> 00:56:44.719
Not only do you have to land a plane, if that's not stressful enough, let's not overlook the stress of the fact that you just watch somebody fucking die.
00:56:47.920 --> 00:56:52.880
That's the part of the story people really aren't they're talking about, oh, she landed a plane, land a plane, fuck that.
00:56:52.960 --> 00:57:01.519
She has to live the next 30 years with the vision of looking over and the guy just jumping out of a fucking plane.
00:57:01.679 --> 00:57:03.039
Not just a stranger, dude.
00:57:03.119 --> 00:57:06.079
You probably already spent, I don't know, how long are these classes?
00:57:06.239 --> 00:57:07.599
Two or three hours at a shot.
00:57:07.760 --> 00:57:09.599
I'm sure this wasn't her second class.
00:57:09.760 --> 00:57:14.000
So she's been in the plane with this guy for a couple hours, at least in the pr in the past.
00:57:14.159 --> 00:57:18.239
She has some sort of rapport with the guy, unless the school rotates fucking trainers.
00:57:18.320 --> 00:57:18.880
Maybe they do.
00:57:18.960 --> 00:57:19.679
I don't know.
00:57:19.920 --> 00:57:24.159
Even still, you're like 30 years old and you gotta live the rest of your life.
00:57:24.400 --> 00:57:27.199
The amount of therapy that's gonna take.
00:57:29.039 --> 00:57:35.760
Well, what I thought about all this is how bad does your life have to be?
00:57:37.920 --> 00:57:42.000
I mean, what's you're a dude with your pilot's license in your 30?
00:57:42.159 --> 00:57:45.679
That's like the world should be your oyster.
00:57:51.039 --> 00:57:54.400
This is the time I'm just gonna walk right off the wing.
00:57:54.719 --> 00:57:56.320
And you live in South America?
00:57:56.480 --> 00:58:00.079
You can fly to fucking Rio at any time and see hot chicks and bikinis.
00:58:01.679 --> 00:58:01.920
Yeah.
00:58:02.480 --> 00:58:03.360
I don't know.
00:58:05.039 --> 00:58:08.639
This poor woman is gonna need untold amounts of therapy.
00:58:12.239 --> 00:58:15.760
I don't think and rightfully so, you shouldn't.
00:58:15.920 --> 00:58:23.679
And God willing, you've never had to experience anything like seeing or hearing someone die.
00:58:28.719 --> 00:58:31.679
As a jaded youth.
00:58:32.400 --> 00:58:33.039
The what?
00:58:33.280 --> 00:58:34.000
The youths.
00:58:34.480 --> 00:58:37.280
The two the two what the two oh I'm sorry, Your Honor.
00:58:37.519 --> 00:58:38.400
The youths.
00:58:39.119 --> 00:58:45.760
As a jaded youth, I never understood, and this I'm gonna date myself here.
00:58:46.159 --> 00:58:51.280
I come from the generation that normalized school shootings.
00:58:52.079 --> 00:58:54.239
I'm not saying that proudly, it is what it is.
00:58:54.320 --> 00:59:08.320
Um the reason I say that is you would always hear about these school shootings, and then the news would inevitably say that the school is gonna have counselors for the survivors to talk to.
00:59:09.039 --> 00:59:14.880
And if you if you're a jaded ute, 15, 18, whatever, like what the fuck they need counseling for.
00:59:15.599 --> 00:59:21.440
You know, you didn't I can understand if you're next to the guy who got shot, but if you're in the classroom you hear pop pop, what do you need?
00:59:21.679 --> 00:59:23.920
And then I experienced that.
00:59:24.320 --> 00:59:33.119
No, not at a mass shooting level, but as we discussed years ago now, 10 years ago, renting a house.
00:59:33.360 --> 00:59:41.199
Oh no, not 10 years ago, whenever Peaky Blinders hit Netflix for the first time, I was watching Peaky Blinders.
00:59:41.360 --> 00:59:44.639
No, one name Netflix is fucking cable TV, is on BBC, whatever.
00:59:44.800 --> 00:59:49.280
I was it was whenever no, uh I get to the point.
00:59:50.079 --> 00:59:53.599
It was new, but it was still old enough that you could binge watch, is my point.
00:59:53.679 --> 00:59:56.480
So I just got done binge watching Peaky Blinders.
00:59:56.719 --> 01:00:04.079
And I don't know if any of y'all have like when you're younger, you play Gears of War or video game for eight or twelve hours, you go to sleep and you're dreaming about the video game.
01:00:04.320 --> 01:00:06.400
So I've been watching Peaky Blinders all day.
01:00:06.480 --> 01:00:08.480
For those who don't know, it takes place in 1916.
01:00:08.559 --> 01:00:11.599
So you're talking like 38 revolvers and knives and all that.
01:00:12.559 --> 01:00:15.039
And it's two o'clock at midnight.
01:00:15.360 --> 01:00:18.400
Tucker, the Beagle, Carrie are in the same bed with me.
01:00:18.480 --> 01:00:21.039
I don't have glasses at the time, I only have contacts.
01:00:21.119 --> 01:00:21.840
My glasses are broken.
01:00:22.000 --> 01:00:23.199
And here I hear pop pop.
01:00:23.840 --> 01:00:24.960
I wake up.
01:00:26.079 --> 01:00:27.360
No one else is awake.
01:00:27.840 --> 01:00:29.440
Beagle's dead quiet.
01:00:30.000 --> 01:00:31.119
Carrie's asleep.
01:00:31.679 --> 01:00:33.199
I don't hear any screaming.
01:00:33.440 --> 01:00:34.960
I don't hear any fighting.
01:00:35.199 --> 01:00:37.920
I don't hear any altercations, fist to cuss, none.
01:00:38.079 --> 01:00:44.639
No screeching of tires, no breaking of glass, no Hollywood cliche woman going, ah, just pop hop.
01:00:45.920 --> 01:00:47.119
Pull out the blinds once again.
01:00:47.280 --> 01:00:48.880
I have the glasses and the contacts in.
01:00:49.039 --> 01:00:49.920
Don't see nothing.
01:00:50.079 --> 01:00:51.440
Don't see taillights.
01:00:51.679 --> 01:00:54.079
Don't see any signs of a scuffle.
01:00:54.480 --> 01:00:55.599
Just pop hop.
01:00:57.360 --> 01:00:58.960
Sound like a fucking 38.
01:01:00.639 --> 01:01:01.679
Must have been dreaming it.
01:01:01.920 --> 01:01:04.800
Just got done watching fucking nine hours of people getting shot on TV.
01:01:04.960 --> 01:01:05.599
Clearly dreaming.
01:01:05.760 --> 01:01:06.559
Went back to bed.
01:01:07.199 --> 01:01:08.320
Two in the morning.
01:01:09.280 --> 01:01:10.719
Cape Crow police.
01:01:11.599 --> 01:01:12.880
What the fuck?
01:01:14.239 --> 01:01:15.440
Didn't realize at the time.
01:01:15.519 --> 01:01:17.199
I used to sleep naked back in the day.
01:01:17.360 --> 01:01:20.400
Put my gears to water pajamas on inside out.
01:01:20.639 --> 01:01:22.480
Didn't realize until after I talked to the female cop.
01:01:22.639 --> 01:01:25.440
My pockets are all dangling like fucking donkey ears.
01:01:26.400 --> 01:01:26.960
Go out there.
01:01:27.039 --> 01:01:28.719
She's like, Did you hear anything?
01:01:29.039 --> 01:01:29.920
I said, uh huh.
01:01:30.079 --> 01:01:31.360
She's like, did you hear anything?
01:01:31.519 --> 01:01:32.079
I said, when?
01:01:32.559 --> 01:01:33.280
A little while ago.
01:01:33.440 --> 01:01:36.480
Yeah, I heard sound of what sound like a 38.
01:01:36.960 --> 01:01:37.519
Pop pop.
01:01:37.920 --> 01:01:39.280
So, but didn't hear anything.
01:01:39.440 --> 01:01:45.440
Now, at the time, I lived on a street where this part of the neighborhood now is now been blocked off.
01:01:45.519 --> 01:01:51.280
This Cape Coral is going to turn into a park because there was only one abandoned house back there, which they bought the property, knocked a house down.
01:01:51.440 --> 01:01:56.079
But the point being is there's a boat ramp back there, and a lot of high school kids go used to go back there and party.
01:01:56.320 --> 01:01:57.360
I'd go running back there.
01:01:57.440 --> 01:01:59.360
It's also where I taught two of my kids to drive.
01:01:59.519 --> 01:02:03.519
You'd see burnt, you know, remnants of a pallet fire back air, fireworks.
01:02:03.760 --> 01:02:09.360
It's just a basically a giant horseshoe with parallel roads running, and it's all open field, no houses back there.
01:02:09.599 --> 01:02:14.639
So a lot of boats would get dropped off back there, a lot of trash, a lot of fires, a lot of drinking.
01:02:14.960 --> 01:02:17.760
I said, you know, they're always back or partying.
01:02:17.840 --> 01:02:19.440
I said, I'd go check down there.
01:02:20.159 --> 01:02:21.039
Wake up the next day.
01:02:21.199 --> 01:02:27.360
Now I worked at Stan Haney at this point, which is why we didn't talk about this story on the air because I didn't want people to know where I lived.
01:02:28.239 --> 01:02:30.159
Woke up the next morning.
01:02:31.119 --> 01:02:32.639
Cops are camped out in front of my house.
01:02:32.800 --> 01:02:34.880
Wink News is camped out in front of my house.
01:02:35.119 --> 01:02:44.400
You went on Wink News' website, shooting in Cape Coral, they showed the house and they showed the police tape, and the police tape is wrapped around a mailbox with an American flag stuck on it.
01:02:44.559 --> 01:02:47.280
That was my American flag in my mailbox.
01:02:48.000 --> 01:02:51.039
And my my oldest daughter lived with me at the time.
01:02:55.199 --> 01:02:56.079
Never knew this.
01:02:56.320 --> 01:02:57.679
I'm not naive.
01:02:58.480 --> 01:03:02.559
Guy wasn't selling drugs, but he was moving drugs.
01:03:02.800 --> 01:03:04.159
He was moving weed.
01:03:04.320 --> 01:03:10.320
And apparently some young cats found out, and they he had like we're talking like bricks, pounds of the shit.
01:03:10.480 --> 01:03:12.320
They shot him with a 22.
01:03:13.519 --> 01:03:14.639
I wasn't far off.
01:03:14.719 --> 01:03:15.679
I said a 38.
01:03:15.760 --> 01:03:18.400
38 and 22 can sound similar in the middle of the night.
01:03:18.639 --> 01:03:22.880
Shot him with a 22 in his front yard, and he bled out inside his house and died.
01:03:25.280 --> 01:03:27.440
Walk outside, Wink News wants to talk to me.
01:03:27.519 --> 01:03:33.840
Once again, I don't need the producer of standing handy being on the fucking evening news about a shooting in Cape Coral.
01:03:34.320 --> 01:03:35.440
No comment, no comment.
01:03:35.599 --> 01:03:36.880
Obviously, no one knows what I look like.
01:03:37.039 --> 01:03:41.039
Not not everybody knew me back then, but if you listen to K Rock and Standing Handy, you knew who I was.
01:03:41.840 --> 01:03:44.880
Told my daughter, don't fucking talk to the news.
01:03:45.519 --> 01:03:47.599
Don't talk to the fucking news.
01:03:47.840 --> 01:03:48.880
Six o'clock at night.
01:03:48.960 --> 01:03:50.400
There's my daughter standing at the door.
01:03:50.559 --> 01:03:51.920
I didn't hear nothing.
01:03:53.440 --> 01:03:54.880
Talk to the other neighbor.
01:03:55.119 --> 01:03:56.800
I used to smell weed all the time.
01:03:56.880 --> 01:03:58.559
I'm thinking, no, the fuck that was me.
01:03:58.639 --> 01:03:59.760
But anyhow.
01:04:01.119 --> 01:04:09.199
Um, but the reason I bring all that up to say this, I just I was probably in reenacting for about three or four years at that point.
01:04:09.679 --> 01:04:34.800
But I just this is when World War II armor started rolling around, and Rabbi Rob was building up his tanks, and I was part of his initial training regiment, so I would drive up this is like the second time I was there, drive up to Orlando to his farm, and we would go out and do operations so we can work safely around these Sherman tanks that worked, and we can also look like we knew what the fuck we're doing.
01:04:35.599 --> 01:04:37.760
This was four days later.
01:04:38.239 --> 01:04:56.880
I'm sitting out there in uniform, not my first rodeo, and every time a blank round went off, every time those cannons fired, I fucking jumped, and I realized I had minor PTSD from hearing my neighbor get fucking murdered in his front yard for like three weeks.
01:04:57.039 --> 01:05:02.159
Anytime, straight out of the movies, the cliche shit you hear from Vietnam vets in like movies.
01:05:02.320 --> 01:05:07.679
Every time I heard a car pop, a door slam, I jumped and I realized.
01:05:07.760 --> 01:05:09.280
Then I realized, oh, now I get it.
01:05:09.360 --> 01:05:15.920
Now I know why they offered therapy to the kids at the high school who weren't in the same room or on the other, but they heard the noise.
01:05:16.079 --> 01:05:17.039
I get it now.
01:05:17.280 --> 01:05:18.559
I completely get it now.
01:05:18.639 --> 01:05:20.079
I completely understand.
01:05:20.559 --> 01:05:23.599
Just I didn't see it, didn't hear it.
01:05:23.760 --> 01:05:32.480
I heard the bullets, I heard the gunfire, and post-event, I associated that with a death.
01:05:32.719 --> 01:05:40.079
Obviously, if the guy never died, if the news wasn't out in front of my house, it was just two assholes shooting a 38 in the fucking air while they're drinking beer.
01:05:40.159 --> 01:05:41.360
I wouldn't have had PST.
01:05:41.440 --> 01:05:42.880
I still would have heard the sounds.
01:05:43.039 --> 01:05:47.119
I'm a gun guy, I own guns, I'm not anti gun.
01:05:47.440 --> 01:05:56.320
So just the fact that you take something that I'm quite used to firing noise that I almost accurately described the gunshots.
01:05:56.400 --> 01:05:58.000
I said a 38, but it was a 22.
01:05:58.159 --> 01:05:59.519
38's a little bit bigger.
01:06:00.079 --> 01:06:07.199
Depending on the shot of a rifle or a a revolver, it could sound close to similar, and it's across the street, and I was asleep.
01:06:07.760 --> 01:06:15.440
But just having the association that that noise took someone's life was enough to create that PTSD for me.
01:06:15.760 --> 01:06:18.079
And so I completely get it now.
01:06:18.639 --> 01:06:21.039
I completely understand the association.
01:06:21.280 --> 01:06:23.440
And it's crazy how the human mind works, right?
01:06:23.519 --> 01:06:26.559
Because once again, I just explained gunshots are nothing new to me.
01:06:26.639 --> 01:06:35.920
I've been reenacting for years, I've been shot at with blanks, same sound effects, but it's the tying of the information that fucks with your head.
01:06:38.639 --> 01:06:39.280
Yeah.
01:06:46.960 --> 01:06:48.239
Fourth of July.
01:06:50.000 --> 01:06:51.440
Cops down the end of the street.
01:06:51.679 --> 01:06:53.760
No, not 4th of July, Father's Day, my bad.
01:06:53.840 --> 01:06:54.320
Father's Day.
01:06:54.400 --> 01:06:55.679
Cops at the end of the street.
01:06:59.519 --> 01:07:00.639
Find out on the news.
01:07:01.679 --> 01:07:03.039
Dude got drunk.
01:07:03.360 --> 01:07:05.679
Pissed off he wasn't allowed to see his kids.
01:07:06.079 --> 01:07:11.920
Showed up at the baby mama's house, stabbed her 17 times with a knife in her driveway.
01:07:13.840 --> 01:07:20.320
Got in his car, drove across town, pulled in someone's driveway and shot himself in the head and killed himself.
01:07:20.639 --> 01:07:24.960
Now the news being the news, they report the story, but I don't know if the woman ever died.
01:07:26.639 --> 01:07:28.000
So how do you not know?
01:07:28.639 --> 01:07:37.440
Fun fact when you're a renter and something like that happens, they don't renew your lease.
01:07:38.159 --> 01:07:38.800
Really?
01:07:39.280 --> 01:07:44.000
The lady whose son got shot at that house was a renter.
01:07:45.199 --> 01:07:50.159
Some might say you move out because you don't want to live with the memory, which could very well be the case.
01:07:50.400 --> 01:07:58.239
All I'm saying in both incidences where someone either got stabbed or shot at a property, the remaining family members did not remain.
01:07:58.400 --> 01:08:01.760
The house was empty 30 days later.
01:08:03.599 --> 01:08:07.840
It could just be I I can't live with the memory, which I once again completely understand.
01:08:08.079 --> 01:08:16.000
But the only thing I can say is in my experience, the two times that has happened, both were renters, their leases were not renewed.
01:08:16.159 --> 01:08:18.159
They're gone within 30 days.
01:08:18.560 --> 01:08:20.159
So I don't know if she lived or not.
01:08:20.560 --> 01:08:24.800
I guess I could Google it, but yeah, if she yeah.
01:08:25.680 --> 01:08:29.039
But hey, Kate Coral, we're a safe town.
01:08:29.199 --> 01:08:30.479
Oh, those fucks.
01:08:30.720 --> 01:08:31.600
Those fucks.
01:08:32.079 --> 01:08:36.960
I'm about to wrap it up, but you hear what those fucks are what now?
01:08:41.359 --> 01:08:44.319
They're considering they're gonna do it.
01:08:47.520 --> 01:08:50.560
I'm guessing because they don't own their own trash trucks.
01:08:50.720 --> 01:08:54.880
I'm assuming this is a service that the fine people at waste management offer.
01:08:55.199 --> 01:08:58.239
Oh, I uh is this the the code enforcement?
01:08:58.640 --> 01:09:00.640
This is national news.
01:09:00.960 --> 01:09:02.560
Yeah, I heard about that.
01:09:02.800 --> 01:09:04.319
They are wanting now.
01:09:04.399 --> 01:09:13.119
For those of you who are a regular listener of this podcast, you heard about my city water woes, and I was explaining how the city comes off to me like the kid from fucking better off dead.
01:09:13.199 --> 01:09:14.319
I want my two dollars.
01:09:14.479 --> 01:09:19.760
They're like an alcoholic or a loser who just realized, oh, I loaned somebody twenty dollars three months ago.
01:09:19.920 --> 01:09:23.439
Now they need it, they need it, they're not got my twenty dollars, got my twenty dollars.
01:09:24.159 --> 01:09:32.800
And they're being investigated by the state of Florida for Doge for misspending, and one of the investigations is for the water expansion and overpricing.
01:09:32.960 --> 01:09:37.680
They did not get their paperwork turned into the state in time, so they got that pressure on them.
01:09:38.399 --> 01:09:45.279
I hope they're found guilty of misspending and misappropriation, not like anyone will see jail time, but maybe they'll lose their fucking elective post.
01:09:46.079 --> 01:09:57.520
But they are so desperate for money that they are willing, they're they're looking into having AI controlled cameras on the trash trucks.
01:09:57.840 --> 01:09:58.720
For what reason?
01:09:58.960 --> 01:09:59.520
Safety?
01:09:59.760 --> 01:10:00.079
No.
01:10:00.640 --> 01:10:07.119
To spot code compliance violations so they can write you fines and generate revenue.
01:10:09.760 --> 01:10:10.720
Look at there.
01:10:10.880 --> 01:10:12.960
There's a privacy fence going up.
01:10:14.319 --> 01:10:17.840
No sign of a permit, which don't matter now because the state of Florida.
01:10:18.000 --> 01:10:20.560
And this is what I think is leading into this.
01:10:21.359 --> 01:10:24.560
I think they've lost so they're looking since July 1st.
01:10:24.640 --> 01:10:29.840
I think they've already they've already evaluated and already predicting such a loss in revenue.
01:10:30.159 --> 01:10:31.520
You may not be aware of this.
01:10:31.760 --> 01:10:39.600
DeSantis just made a statewide law, you can no longer charge permit for any project under$7,000.
01:10:40.640 --> 01:10:51.199
Now, if they're making$130, if they're making$135 for every permit for every fucking$5,000 privacy fence built in this town, that's a shit ton of money.
01:10:51.520 --> 01:11:03.840
If they're making$135 for building permit anytime somebody wants to build a fucking put a goddamn exterior door in the wall of their garage so they can get out in the backyard, that's a lot of money.
01:11:04.079 --> 01:11:15.039
So I think they're already anticipating losing so much revenue from projects under$7,000 and what they used to make in building permit fees, that they're trying to find a way to raise revenue.
01:11:15.199 --> 01:11:25.439
And one of these proposals is they're wanting to put AI-operated cameras on top of the trash trucks to spot and write up tickets for code violations.
01:11:28.000 --> 01:11:33.520
Now, I think they've updated it because I looked on the website because I had to throw a couch away.
01:11:33.920 --> 01:11:55.199
But I know as of four years ago, Cape Coral was so broke that they were one of two counties out of all the counties in the area that waste management, all the states that waste management offers trash service in, Cape Coral and one other county were the only counties who did not offer automatic bulk pickup because it cost extra money.
01:11:55.520 --> 01:11:58.000
Bulk pickup was still a thing, but you had to call it in.
01:11:58.079 --> 01:12:02.079
You had to call, hey, I'm throwing away my refrigerator, come pick it up, and then come pick it up.
01:12:02.319 --> 01:12:05.600
But you couldn't just put it out on the curb and two days later it's gone.
01:12:05.840 --> 01:12:14.399
So the fact that Cape Coral didn't want to pay for contract to have automatic bulk pickup, which mind you, Mun may suggest, would be in compliance of code.
01:12:14.560 --> 01:12:16.800
You don't want shit laying around everybody's place.
01:12:16.960 --> 01:12:26.000
You want to you because they always say, you know, these type of code, we're not talking like most of these codes are these are fucking appearance things, right?
01:12:26.079 --> 01:12:33.359
Your grass is too tall, your your doors, you know, your plywood up in your windows, it's a nice or you're bringing down the value of a neighbor's property, right?
01:12:33.840 --> 01:12:41.520
So one might say and having an automatic bulk pickup so that your neighbor don't have fucking two five-gallon paint jugs sitting out on their curb.
01:12:41.680 --> 01:12:47.199
Ask me how I know, because my neighbor's been trying to throw away two five-gallon paint jugs.
01:12:47.279 --> 01:12:52.319
It's been sitting out on his curb for two months because he won't call the chemical pickup people.
01:12:52.640 --> 01:13:06.960
But my point is, as of at least four years ago, they wouldn't pay the extra money to waste management for automatic bulk pickup, but they're going to pay whatever money it's going to cost them to have this AI to generate tickets and generate revenue for them.
01:13:07.439 --> 01:13:17.279
And this is the same code, this is the same county where the mayor and mayor gave himself a$5,000 a month raise.
01:13:18.399 --> 01:13:25.199
And each member of city council gets a$3,000 a month raise.
01:13:26.159 --> 01:13:31.600
Most people are lucky if they get 35 cents an hour raise.
01:13:32.159 --> 01:13:35.359
These fuckers gave themselves$3,000 and$5,000.
01:13:35.920 --> 01:13:39.760
Not a year, a fucking month raise.
01:13:40.239 --> 01:13:42.479
But we ain't got no money for nothing.
01:13:46.239 --> 01:13:51.279
We gotta charge Don for water that he don't have access to.
01:13:51.520 --> 01:13:53.279
I'm still steaming about that.
01:13:53.600 --> 01:14:06.560
Look, I get the I I get the I get the deposit, but you guys charge me for water that I hadn't had hooked up to yet, and then charge me a late fee for not paying that bill that I didn't have.
01:14:06.880 --> 01:14:10.960
But yeah, so hopefully Doge finds him guilty.
01:14:11.119 --> 01:14:20.720
Hopefully, I won't see any money back, but maybe the next poor schmuck, instead of having to give him$37,000, we'll only have to give him 25,000, 32, whatever.
01:14:20.880 --> 01:14:26.880
But yeah, it's they're so ridiculous down here, it's so gross, and it's just I'm so over it.
01:14:27.279 --> 01:14:36.159
Well, that's gonna wrap it up for this episode of the What's Your Head podcast, the only podcast that can have complete microphone breakdown failure in the middle of the show, and we're able to fix it live.
01:14:36.239 --> 01:14:37.520
Fuck it, we'll do it live.
01:14:37.680 --> 01:14:38.640
We did it live.
01:14:38.800 --> 01:14:45.600
Obviously, when you guys hear the playback, I'll shorten the amount of time in which it took to fix it, but we still did it live because we got the gear laying around.
01:14:45.760 --> 01:14:57.039
But apparently, I'm gonna have to take the at computers portal studio out in the box and take it out of the box because I have a feeling I can disassemble this mixing board and it's probably got some dust and some scuba in there.
01:14:57.119 --> 01:15:02.319
I don't know, it's not a it's a Mackey mixing board, it's not a Walmart grade Amazon.
01:15:02.399 --> 01:15:06.159
It's but I did buy it in 2019, so it's it's been around a bit.
01:15:06.479 --> 01:15:10.000
This has been a digital 410 production.
