OM DENNE EPISODE
🎤 Live from FETC | The Failure Space is Golden
Guest: Austin Levinson
Host: Arvin Ross + Dr. Michelle Ament
Presented by: The Human Intelligence Movement
🔍 Episode Summary:
What happens when a student earns the certification but freezes the moment the script gets thrown out?
Austin Levinson is the Director of Learning at Mega Minds, an immersive learning platform. At FETC 2026, he sat down with Arvin to talk about what compliance can't measure and what AI can actually do when we stop trying to use it to replace teachers.
Mega Minds drops students into 3D environments where they meet AI characters, navigate ethical dilemmas, and practice the human skills a worksheet can't teach. A carpenter is weighing whether to finish a job early when she's paid by the hour. A transitional student rehearsing how to open a bank account before stepping into the real one. The point isn't engagement for engagement's sake. It's giving students reps in the human skills they'll actually need on the other side of a credential.
Austin's unavoidable truth came in two pieces. First, the CTE space is full of students who are technically savvy and students who are clumsy. Second, the difference between thriving and flopping in the AI era is adaptive expertise, the ability to evolve when circumstances shift, not just bounce back to baseline.
This one is for anyone building learning experiences in the AI era who knows that compliance isn't competence and that the failure space might be the most important classroom we have.
