00:00:03.520 --> 00:00:06.799
Welcome back to the Lars Larson Show on a First Amendment Friday.
00:00:06.959 --> 00:00:31.600
Consider this, because for all of us who have for years said that America has a very flawed election system, that we are counting ballots that come from dead people, that come from illegal aliens, that come from foreign nationals, uh, all these other things, and a flawed system that gets more flawed the more that we adopt things like vote by mail or uh extreme levels of absentee voting.
00:00:31.839 --> 00:00:37.359
More than 150 voters in Green Bay, Wisconsin got two ballots in the mail.
00:00:37.520 --> 00:00:46.320
Was that just one of those honest mistakes that happens from time to time, or exactly the kind of sloppiness that makes people lose their faith in elections?
00:00:46.560 --> 00:00:52.240
James Dixon joins me now, founder of Make Politics Local Again, MPLA.
00:00:52.320 --> 00:00:56.640
Uh that's a movement, and a former New York Post swing state reporter.
00:00:56.880 --> 00:00:58.240
James, welcome to the program.
00:00:58.320 --> 00:00:59.200
How are you?
00:00:59.520 --> 00:01:00.880
Hey, good evening, Lars.
00:01:00.960 --> 00:01:01.759
Thanks for having me.
00:01:02.000 --> 00:01:10.959
Is this just one of those crazy little coincidences or a tiny accident, or is it indicative that we have the system that just doesn't work very well?
00:01:12.000 --> 00:01:14.959
Lars, I think our system is built to be broken.
00:01:15.200 --> 00:01:25.599
And so what we have here, I mean, when you send out 152 duplicate ballots and you don't you don't catch it, people who got the ballots are the ones who report it.
00:01:25.680 --> 00:01:34.719
And then when it's reported, you kind of the the election official kind of hems and haws and goes directly to the media rather than address the complaint.
00:01:34.959 --> 00:01:36.719
This is a job that's too important.
00:01:36.959 --> 00:01:42.400
Oops is simply not good enough, but oops is what we continue to hear from these election officials.
00:01:42.719 --> 00:01:48.079
Well, you know what's funny about it, James, is that I'm not an accountant, but I know how accountants do a lot of their work.
00:01:48.159 --> 00:01:49.920
They they make sure they can double check.
00:01:50.000 --> 00:01:51.519
They go in and they audit the books.
00:01:51.680 --> 00:02:04.959
Wouldn't you think that when you're sending out ballots, something hugely important, where you don't want to send out one extra ballot, you don't want to send out one too few ballots because then you're cheating somebody, that that there would be some double checks in there.
00:02:05.120 --> 00:02:14.560
This sounds like there was no double check, and they really didn't want to hear a double check, even if it came from a human out there getting ballots, saying, Why'd you send me two ballots?
00:02:15.360 --> 00:02:16.960
No, they didn't want to double check.
00:02:17.039 --> 00:02:19.759
This is the system working as it's designed to.
00:02:19.919 --> 00:02:22.560
Uh, the system is broken in its very design.
00:02:22.879 --> 00:02:29.120
Uh, one of these people who got two ballots actually asked that election officials voided both of them.
00:02:29.439 --> 00:02:32.879
Another 116 of those, you know, people actually did vote.
00:02:33.120 --> 00:02:40.000
And so, but and what I never heard is that the system itself said we had a way to stop this, right?
00:02:40.080 --> 00:02:44.639
We made the initial mistake, but we have safeguards in place to make sure no one could double vote.
00:02:44.800 --> 00:02:46.800
I have never heard anyone say that.
00:02:46.960 --> 00:02:51.759
And that's terrifying because, yes, today it was caught without any further problem.
00:02:52.159 --> 00:02:53.759
What might happen tomorrow?
00:02:54.080 --> 00:02:59.120
Well, and what I wonder about James is just simple van, you know, plain vanilla kind of solutions.
00:02:59.280 --> 00:03:07.360
Like if you say, I know we have a city that has this many precincts, we know we have a known number of voters in each of those precincts.
00:03:07.599 --> 00:03:15.520
So you you create the ballots for a precinct and you say we have 8,122 people in that precinct.
00:03:15.599 --> 00:03:19.680
That means we shouldn't have one more or one less than exactly that number.
00:03:19.840 --> 00:03:23.280
That doesn't seem like it's that hard to double check, is it?
00:03:23.840 --> 00:03:25.840
No, especially not with computers.
00:03:26.159 --> 00:03:33.680
And just to use an example from history, so in Michigan, uh in the 1890s, we had this Secretary of State named John Jocum.
00:03:34.080 --> 00:03:42.479
And he certified a ballot measure that would have given a race to state officials like himself and the state treasurer and such.
00:03:42.800 --> 00:03:46.639
And so he said it it won by several thousand votes.
00:03:46.800 --> 00:03:50.159
It turns out it actually had lost by several thousand votes.
00:03:50.400 --> 00:03:52.159
And then he tried to say, oops.
00:03:52.319 --> 00:03:57.680
And a governor from his own party, a fellow Republican, actually had to remove him from office.
00:03:57.919 --> 00:04:10.000
And so back then we we saw high stakes and understanding of the seriousness of the job, that the job of a clerk is to certify and verify, not just to certify.
00:04:10.240 --> 00:04:15.039
And then you saw, you know, the decisive action after a mistake was made.
00:04:15.199 --> 00:04:17.040
None of those things exist here.
00:04:17.600 --> 00:04:24.720
You know what's funny about this is that the there are so many places on the planet where we have major countries that vote.
00:04:24.879 --> 00:04:39.680
They use picture ID, they use physical ballots, they have the count done that night, and I mean uh countries like France, and then and then you come to the United States and you say, We're the most technological country on earth, and you say, What what system are you using?
00:04:39.839 --> 00:04:49.759
Oh, we're we're putting uh putting ballots out by an old-fashioned mail system that was created in the 1800s and uh and it gets delivered to somebody's house.
00:04:49.920 --> 00:04:51.120
Well, on a given day?
00:04:51.279 --> 00:05:01.519
No, sometime over a two or three-week period, and then the ballots are sent back sometime over a two or three-week period, and then they're counted sometime over a two or three-week period.
00:05:01.680 --> 00:05:08.399
It sounds like we've gone from a fairly precise system to one that is that almost is designed to lack precision.
00:05:09.199 --> 00:05:10.160
That's exactly it.
00:05:10.240 --> 00:05:13.600
There's so much flab and failure built into the system.
00:05:13.920 --> 00:05:19.199
It's like being shocked that after leaving the barn door open, the horses all escaped.
00:05:19.759 --> 00:05:21.600
Well, well, what were they gonna do, right?
00:05:21.680 --> 00:05:23.040
You don't have to look for the thief.
00:05:23.120 --> 00:05:24.639
You're the problem yourself.
00:05:24.800 --> 00:05:29.920
And so the same thing happened, a very similar situation in Michigan in 2024.
00:05:30.079 --> 00:05:36.560
Uh, our Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson, uh, goes out and says, uh, non-citizen voting is a myth.
00:05:36.720 --> 00:05:38.480
It's the Loch Nest monster, right?
00:05:38.639 --> 00:05:40.240
He says that in September 24.
00:05:40.720 --> 00:05:52.720
The very next month, a Chinese man named Ho Ching Yao votes in Ann Arbor, and because it's early voting, not absentee, the vote is run right then and there, and his vote counts.
00:05:52.959 --> 00:06:05.040
She studies and finds out that there's at least 15 more non-citizen voters, and then, after finding this, hasn't done one single thing to safeguard our election, so this could not happen again.
00:06:05.439 --> 00:06:09.040
By the way, James, can I share with you an example from my neck of the woods?
00:06:09.120 --> 00:06:12.240
I live in Washington State, but Oregon is right next door.
00:06:12.480 --> 00:06:17.920
And do you know how they found out about a couple of thousand foreign nationals registered to vote?
00:06:18.160 --> 00:06:24.879
It was by accident and with the help of a very liberal political group from none other than Illinois.
00:06:25.040 --> 00:06:40.480
Because what happened was this liberal group in Illinois said, we're kind of curious how is it they're automatically signing up all these people, everybody who gets a driver's license or a state ID card uh through the DMV is going to be automatically signed up to vote.
00:06:40.639 --> 00:06:43.839
How do they make sure they keep the foreign nationals out?
00:06:44.000 --> 00:06:49.199
So this very liberal group reaches out to the state of Oregon and says, How do you how are you doing that?
00:06:49.360 --> 00:06:53.199
And they said, Well, we'll just send you the data and you can look at it yourself.
00:06:53.360 --> 00:06:56.240
And so this liberal organization gets the data.
00:06:56.399 --> 00:07:03.600
And they looked at it and said just a small sample, and they said, We just found a couple of hundred foreign nationals in your voter rolls.
00:07:03.839 --> 00:07:07.680
And the state went, oh, oops, that was one of those oopses.
00:07:07.839 --> 00:07:09.759
And so they did a little bit of looking.
00:07:10.000 --> 00:07:14.639
At the end of the day, it was almost 2,000 foreign nationals who are registered to vote.
00:07:14.800 --> 00:07:18.480
But they had only checked about one-third of all the registered voters.
00:07:18.639 --> 00:07:22.879
And you know what happened when we asked, well, are you going to check the rest of the registered voters?
00:07:23.199 --> 00:07:29.600
If you already found a couple of thousand foreign nationals, they said, no, no, no, no, we're just gonna we're we'll we'll catch them as we go.
00:07:29.839 --> 00:07:32.480
You know, we'll we'll figure them out down the line somewhere.
00:07:32.720 --> 00:07:39.439
So this is the attitude that predominates when it comes to checking to for for foreign national voting.
00:07:39.600 --> 00:07:48.560
It doesn't exist, it's not there, and if somebody accidentally finds it, then we're gonna do our best to just deny its existence and move on down the road.
00:07:48.720 --> 00:07:50.000
Nothing to see here, folks.
00:07:50.079 --> 00:07:51.040
Move along.
00:07:51.680 --> 00:07:56.319
You know what that tells me, Lars, is that these Democrats are running a common playbook.
00:07:56.480 --> 00:07:59.519
So in Michigan, it's the exact same situation.
00:07:59.839 --> 00:08:05.519
So say my wife is from Canada and she moves to Michigan, but she's not a citizen yet.
00:08:05.600 --> 00:08:05.759
Right.
00:08:06.000 --> 00:08:11.600
She gets her driver's license in Michigan, she would be registered to vote automatically.
00:08:11.839 --> 00:08:13.519
And here's the kicker, Lars.
00:08:13.680 --> 00:08:23.279
The only way you could not be registered to vote automatically as a foreigner in Michigan is if you furnish proof of non-citizenship.
00:08:23.920 --> 00:08:28.240
So we want them to furnish proof of citizenship so as to vote.
00:08:28.480 --> 00:08:34.480
No, in Michigan, you'd have to prove furnish proof of non-citizenship to not be registered to vote.
00:08:34.639 --> 00:08:39.600
So if you just want your license, go it sounds like the reverse of the Save Act.
00:08:39.679 --> 00:08:46.720
That's James Dixon, who is founder of Make Politics Local Again and a former New York Post swing state reporter.
00:08:46.879 --> 00:08:48.159
James, thanks very much.
00:00:03.520 --> 00:00:06.799
Welcome back to the Lars Larson Show on a First Amendment Friday.
00:00:06.959 --> 00:00:31.600
00:00:31.839 --> 00:00:37.359
More than 150 voters in Green Bay, Wisconsin got two ballots in the mail.
00:00:37.520 --> 00:00:46.320
Was that just one of those honest mistakes that happens from time to time, or exactly the kind of sloppiness that makes people lose their faith in elections?
00:00:46.560 --> 00:00:52.240
James Dixon joins me now, founder of Make Politics Local Again, MPLA.
00:00:52.320 --> 00:00:56.640
Uh that's a movement, and a former New York Post swing state reporter.
00:00:56.880 --> 00:00:58.240
James, welcome to the program.
00:00:58.320 --> 00:00:59.200
How are you?
00:00:59.520 --> 00:01:00.880
Hey, good evening, Lars.
00:01:00.960 --> 00:01:01.759
Thanks for having me.
00:01:02.000 --> 00:01:10.959
Is this just one of those crazy little coincidences or a tiny accident, or is it indicative that we have the system that just doesn't work very well?
00:01:12.000 --> 00:01:14.959
Lars, I think our system is built to be broken.
00:01:15.200 --> 00:01:25.599
And so what we have here, I mean, when you send out 152 duplicate ballots and you don't you don't catch it, people who got the ballots are the ones who report it.
00:01:25.680 --> 00:01:34.719
And then when it's reported, you kind of the the election official kind of hems and haws and goes directly to the media rather than address the complaint.
00:01:34.959 --> 00:01:36.719
This is a job that's too important.
00:01:36.959 --> 00:01:42.400
Oops is simply not good enough, but oops is what we continue to hear from these election officials.
00:01:42.719 --> 00:01:48.079
Well, you know what's funny about it, James, is that I'm not an accountant, but I know how accountants do a lot of their work.
00:01:48.159 --> 00:01:49.920
They they make sure they can double check.
00:01:50.000 --> 00:01:51.519
They go in and they audit the books.
00:01:51.680 --> 00:02:04.959
Wouldn't you think that when you're sending out ballots, something hugely important, where you don't want to send out one extra ballot, you don't want to send out one too few ballots because then you're cheating somebody, that that there would be some double checks in there.
00:02:05.120 --> 00:02:14.560
This sounds like there was no double check, and they really didn't want to hear a double check, even if it came from a human out there getting ballots, saying, Why'd you send me two ballots?
00:02:15.360 --> 00:02:16.960
No, they didn't want to double check.
00:02:17.039 --> 00:02:19.759
This is the system working as it's designed to.
00:02:19.919 --> 00:02:22.560
Uh, the system is broken in its very design.
00:02:22.879 --> 00:02:29.120
Uh, one of these people who got two ballots actually asked that election officials voided both of them.
00:02:29.439 --> 00:02:32.879
Another 116 of those, you know, people actually did vote.
00:02:33.120 --> 00:02:40.000
And so, but and what I never heard is that the system itself said we had a way to stop this, right?
00:02:40.080 --> 00:02:44.639
We made the initial mistake, but we have safeguards in place to make sure no one could double vote.
00:02:44.800 --> 00:02:46.800
I have never heard anyone say that.
00:02:46.960 --> 00:02:51.759
And that's terrifying because, yes, today it was caught without any further problem.
00:02:52.159 --> 00:02:53.759
What might happen tomorrow?
00:02:54.080 --> 00:02:59.120
Well, and what I wonder about James is just simple van, you know, plain vanilla kind of solutions.
00:02:59.280 --> 00:03:07.360
Like if you say, I know we have a city that has this many precincts, we know we have a known number of voters in each of those precincts.
00:03:07.599 --> 00:03:15.520
So you you create the ballots for a precinct and you say we have 8,122 people in that precinct.
00:03:15.599 --> 00:03:19.680
That means we shouldn't have one more or one less than exactly that number.
00:03:19.840 --> 00:03:23.280
That doesn't seem like it's that hard to double check, is it?
00:03:23.840 --> 00:03:25.840
No, especially not with computers.
00:03:26.159 --> 00:03:33.680
And just to use an example from history, so in Michigan, uh in the 1890s, we had this Secretary of State named John Jocum.

00:03:46.800 --> 00:03:50.159
It turns out it actually had lost by several thousand votes.
00:03:50.400 --> 00:03:52.159
And then he tried to say, oops.
00:03:52.319 --> 00:03:57.680
And a governor from his own party, a fellow Republican, actually had to remove him from office.
00:03:57.919 --> 00:04:10.000

00:04:15.199 --> 00:04:17.040
None of those things exist here.
00:04:17.600 --> 00:04:24.720
You know what's funny about this is that the there are so many places on the planet where we have major countries that vote.
00:04:24.879 --> 00:04:39.680

Oh, we're we're putting uh putting ballots out by an old-fashioned mail system that was created in the 1800s and uh and it gets delivered to somebody's house.
00:04:49.920 --> 00:04:51.120
Well, on a given day?
00:04:51.279 --> 00:05:01.519
No, sometime over a two or three-week period, and then the ballots are sent back sometime over a two or three-week period, and then they're counted sometime over a two or three-week period.
00:05:01.680 --> 00:05:08.399
It sounds like we've gone from a fairly precise system to one that is that almost is designed to lack precision.
00:05:09.199 --> 00:05:10.160

You don't have to look for the thief.
00:05:23.120 --> 00:05:24.639
You're the problem yourself.
00:05:24.800 --> 00:05:29.920

Uh, our Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson, uh, goes out and says, uh, non-citizen voting is a myth.
00:05:36.720 --> 00:05:38.480
It's the Loch Nest monster, right?
00:05:38.639 --> 00:05:40.240
He says that in September 24.
00:05:40.720 --> 00:05:52.720
The very next month, a Chinese man named Ho Ching Yao votes in Ann Arbor, and because it's early voting, not absentee, the vote is run right then and there, and his vote counts.
00:05:52.959 --> 00:06:05.040
She studies and finds out that there's at least 15 more non-citizen voters, and then, after finding this, hasn't done one single thing to safeguard our election, so this could not happen again.
00:06:05.439 --> 00:06:09.040
By the way, James, can I share with you an example from my neck of the woods?
00:06:09.120 --> 00:06:12.240
I live in Washington State, but Oregon is right next door.
00:06:12.480 --> 00:06:17.920
And do you know how they found out about a couple of thousand foreign nationals registered to vote?
00:06:18.160 --> 00:06:24.879
It was by accident and with the help of a very liberal political group from none other than Illinois.
00:06:25.040 --> 00:06:40.480
Because what happened was this liberal group in Illinois said, we're kind of curious how is it they're automatically signing up all these people, everybody who gets a driver's license or a state ID card uh through the DMV is going to be automatically signed up to vote.
00:06:40.639 --> 00:06:43.839
How do they make sure they keep the foreign nationals out?
00:06:44.000 --> 00:06:49.199
So this very liberal group reaches out to the state of Oregon and says, How do you how are you doing that?
00:06:49.360 --> 00:06:53.199
And they said, Well, we'll just send you the data and you can look at it yourself.
00:06:53.360 --> 00:06:56.240
And so this liberal organization gets the data.
00:06:56.399 --> 00:07:03.600
And they looked at it and said just a small sample, and they said, We just found a couple of hundred foreign nationals in your voter rolls.
00:07:03.839 --> 00:07:07.680
And the state went, oh, oops, that was one of those oopses.
00:07:07.839 --> 00:07:09.759
And so they did a little bit of looking.
00:07:10.000 --> 00:07:14.639
At the end of the day, it was almost 2,000 foreign nationals who are registered to vote.
00:07:14.800 --> 00:07:18.480
But they had only checked about one-third of all the registered voters.
00:07:18.639 --> 00:07:22.879
And you know what happened when we asked, well, are you going to check the rest of the registered voters?
00:07:23.199 --> 00:07:29.600
If you already found a couple of thousand foreign nationals, they said, no, no, no, no, we're just gonna we're we'll we'll catch them as we go.
00:07:29.839 --> 00:07:32.480
You know, we'll we'll figure them out down the line somewhere.
00:07:32.720 --> 00:07:39.439
So this is the attitude that predominates when it comes to checking to for for foreign national voting.
00:07:39.600 --> 00:07:48.560
It doesn't exist, it's not there, and if somebody accidentally finds it, then we're gonna do our best to just deny its existence and move on down the road.
00:07:48.720 --> 00:07:50.000
Nothing to see here, folks.
00:07:50.079 --> 00:07:51.040
Move along.
00:07:51.680 --> 00:07:56.319
You know what that tells me, Lars, is that these Democrats are running a common playbook.
00:07:56.480 --> 00:07:59.519
So in Michigan, it's the exact same situation.
00:07:59.839 --> 00:08:05.519
So say my wife is from Canada and she moves to Michigan, but she's not a citizen yet.
00:08:05.600 --> 00:08:05.759
Right.
00:08:06.000 --> 00:08:11.600
She gets her driver's license in Michigan, she would be registered to vote automatically.
00:08:11.839 --> 00:08:13.519
And here's the kicker, Lars.
00:08:13.680 --> 00:08:23.279
The only way you could not be registered to vote automatically as a foreigner in Michigan is if you furnish proof of non-citizenship.
00:08:23.920 --> 00:08:28.240
So we want them to furnish proof of citizenship so as to vote.
00:08:28.480 --> 00:08:34.480
No, in Michigan, you'd have to prove furnish proof of non-citizenship to not be registered to vote.
00:08:34.639 --> 00:08:39.600
So if you just want your license, go it sounds like the reverse of the Save Act.
00:08:39.679 --> 00:08:46.720
That's James Dixon, who is founder of Make Politics Local Again and a former New York Post swing state reporter.
00:08:46.879 --> 00:08:48.159
James, thanks very much.
