00:00:01
Speaker 1: Some might argue that at times I can be the no fun police, okay, and I don't. I don't feel that I'm a no fund police. I just don't get into like wacky shenanigans like believe it or not. I mean, I realize what we do here is kind of like, you know, it's a little bit goofy.
00:00:15
Speaker 2: But I mean they we're not doing like.
00:00:19
Speaker 1: You know, But I don't know, like I'm not I'm not the guy who's like ready to play charades at the party. You know, I'm not the first guy on the dance floor at the wedding. I'm just I'm just kind of chill. I'm just kind of laid back, believe it or not. I don't like things that call a ton of attention to any one particular person. I don't want to believe it or not, Maybe you guys, I hopefully hopefully you guys would agree. I actually do not like the attention on me. True, that's true, like at all makes me very uncomfortable. I realize what you know, I lead the room here, but like the attention can be on you guys is fine, But when someone brings a lot of attention on themselves, it also makes me uncomfortable. Yes, And so where this is going is uh. I saw this point on TikTok. A father has gone viral for creating a song to another song to sing at his son's wedding. So they're like outside and it's like rolling hills and they're in their tuxes and this looks like a very fancy wedding. And I'm not sure if this was his speech, but it's actually like a resounding positive review on the internet for the most part. But this dude gets up there and sings to Brandy that song by looking glass, you were a.
00:01:26
Speaker 2: Fine girl, what a good why?
00:01:28
Speaker 1: And sings about them And I guess he had like a music producer help him with this and the whole thing. And I haven't listened to it yet because I think I know what it is and I'm going to annoy me. But I mean, is is this My opinion is that a wedding is not the time? And I realized he probably I don't know if he paid for it or paid for part of it, or I know that parents give speeches, and I realize that, you know, maybe something creative is better than just the generic, you know, lazy speech. But at the same time, like, is this really the time to make it about you as the father and like do a little little it up or do you just go up there and just say, hey, look, I'm the dad and I'm super proud of these two and like I'm really happy to be here and we're gonna have a great time and sit you sit your ass down.
00:02:11
Speaker 3: My cousin would have been my cousin in law.
00:02:13
Speaker 4: It's my cousin's husband's dad did this at their wedding in New Orleans.
00:02:16
Speaker 1: Propos cousin's husband's dad. Okay, and how did they go over?
00:02:20
Speaker 4: It was like later in the night, so everyone was a little lit, and it was funny that he I don't know, I had just met him and I wasn't expecting him to be so wild and wacky on stage, so we liked it. I also think that my dad saying to my mom at their wedding, But I don't know.
00:02:34
Speaker 3: I mean, I think you got to do it when everybody's lit.
00:02:36
Speaker 2: Well, I think it's your wedding. You could do it every year.
00:02:38
Speaker 3: Oh okay, you think maybe.
00:02:39
Speaker 2: But I also I.
00:02:40
Speaker 1: Don't understand I've gone off on this before, Like when the when the NFL cheerleader does like a cheerleading dance performance for her husband at the wedding.
00:02:50
Speaker 2: Jaylo did that.
00:02:50
Speaker 1: Too, Ben he was, And I'm just kind of like, like it's cute, I think when the guys do it, especially if it's a guy that doesn't dance. Like I've seen a couple where like he's surprised his wife with like a little routine with his buddies that you would not expect because the guy, like that's not But like, if you're already a professional dancer and you're doing a performance at your wedding, you're doing a performance for your wedding guest. You are, and it's nothing to do with whoever you're supposedly doing it for. You're flexing the fact that you're super talented because everybody there already knows that you're a you know, Panthers cheerleader or whatever.
00:03:25
Speaker 2: Everyone already knows that. So like when you and five of the Panther.
00:03:28
Speaker 1: Cheerleaders come out and do this whole like, you know, whatever you're doing, everybody already knows that about you. You don't like there's no flex here, Like we don't need to see it, Like we'll just go to the game, like we go, we got it. You used to be a bulls cheerleader, We got it, you know what I mean. And the thing is, usually they're not even current. It's like an opportunity for the you know, eight girls that were on the two thousand and eight squad to get together and like see another, you.
00:03:51
Speaker 5: Know what I mean.
00:03:51
Speaker 3: That's true.
00:03:52
Speaker 2: I'm probably not a total hater, but I'm just like.
00:03:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean they were current.
00:03:57
Speaker 4: I mean, because we're not going to do a podcast at our weddings, you know what I mean.
00:04:01
Speaker 1: No, we don't get any ideas. Don't get any ideas anyway. Here, this is, this is it. Let's listen to you a little bit of this. This is I think it's the father of the groom, I believe singing a song at his son's wedding or daughter's wedding that he that he came up with ahead of time with a music producer that he performed at the wedding.
00:04:20
Speaker 5: He said, she said, love songs.
00:04:52
Speaker 6: I am for this. I am so for this. I'm sorry. I think it's so cute.
00:04:59
Speaker 7: I had my brother and Big ten performed at my thirtieth birthday party.
00:05:03
Speaker 6: I just think it's the cutest. What do they perform?
00:05:05
Speaker 7: H town knocking the boots and then they transitioned into a new addition zone.
00:05:11
Speaker 2: Did you tell them to do this?
00:05:13
Speaker 7: I kind of suggested it because I'm wanting to perform at my birthday party, but I couldn't afford y'all rule yet, so I was like, y'all need to put together performance, and they actually did and it was It was the cutest thing. So I'm against the whole bride performing at their Like it's your wedding, everything is already about you don't.
00:05:30
Speaker 2: Know, That's what I mean. That's exactly what I mean.
00:05:32
Speaker 7: But if your family member or dad or like this is cute, I'm here for that.
00:05:36
Speaker 2: Like I'm not going to land a plane at my wedding.
00:05:38
Speaker 6: No, that'd be sick if you got out.
00:05:40
Speaker 3: Of a plane.
00:05:40
Speaker 7: Though, yeah, actually pose on a Runway's I suppose personalized proposal is about the couple.
00:05:48
Speaker 1: But when I'm going to a wedding, like I already know, like, in fact, the people there should know you better than anyone on earth, so like we don't need to be reminded of like your little hobbies because we already know.
00:05:58
Speaker 3: I'm start didn't butte you to my weather.
00:06:00
Speaker 2: Oh is your dad going to sing to looking Glass?
00:06:03
Speaker 5: Maybe?
00:06:03
Speaker 2: I doubt it she has a good time. I doubt that.
00:06:06
Speaker 1: You're gonna go for that, someone said Fredz to hater at his core and has to embrace it.
00:06:10
Speaker 2: No, I already.
00:06:12
Speaker 1: First of all, you don't get to diss wee because I already said I'm the no fun police.
00:06:15
Speaker 2: Stuff like this makes me uncomfortable. I don't know.
00:06:17
Speaker 1: But but really though, but really, the real point here is it has nothing to do with me as a guest. It's I'm just attending. I'm just there. I'm drinking my little Baka soda. You know, I'm drinking my little wine whatever. I don't know what's going on. But I mean, if it's your wedding, do you really want other people being cute at your wedd you do?
00:06:37
Speaker 2: Yes, it's for you, but Pauline like Pauline's wedding. Nobody else is cute but her.
00:06:42
Speaker 3: I thank you for that.
00:06:43
Speaker 2: And your and.
00:06:44
Speaker 1: Your mom stood up and gave a very brief message you were talking about his parents stood up and gave a very brief message. Yes, it was, you know, I mean it was somewhere between three and five.
00:06:53
Speaker 3: Minutes tops, which is acceptable, and.
00:06:56
Speaker 1: Everybody was cool and like this is great, great that march. It looks beautiful. I wanted to know the guy with the fedora if she was doing him really, we really wanted to know that. That was really what everybody wanted to know the whole night. I know, so maybe they were them. No, that's her Jonathan, so I.
00:07:10
Speaker 3: Have my Jonathan was my best friend and my gaye us that's hers.
00:07:13
Speaker 8: Okay, But I would have loved if Hobby got up and do the dance with his boys, only because he doesn't because it doesn't do it.
00:07:20
Speaker 3: It would have been so uncomfortable and I would have loved every second of it. Like now, I wish we did the dance.
00:07:24
Speaker 1: I think when it's unexpected, maybe it's cute. But if you're the groom, if it's your wedding. But like, like if I did it, I think people would be shocked. And I didn't tell anyone I was doing it correct, like that would be shocking. But if you're already, like I feel like the people doing this are already the people who would be the center of attention anyway, Like something tells me this father would make no there would be no question that he was in attendance at this wedding. Something tells me he's that guy. He's that guy that like, oh, you know so and So's dads here, like it's gonna be wild. And then and then and then he goes and makes it about him, because that's really what this is feel to me, like people making it about themselves. That's what it feels like to me, Like, let me have five minutes at this event. That's not about me. That's what it feels like to me.
00:08:08
Speaker 4: But he put in work and like the performance together for them with them in mind, Like, isn't doesn't it feel nice that somebody would, you know, organize a routine or take the time out to practice.
00:08:17
Speaker 1: I guess, I guess, I guess.
00:08:21
Speaker 2: I guess.
00:08:21
Speaker 7: Okay, cancel the performance for his birthday, right right right?
00:08:24
Speaker 3: Oh, I got him drag queens before.
00:08:27
Speaker 4: I've done all kinds of stuff that he doesn't.
00:08:28
Speaker 2: I don't want.
00:08:29
Speaker 1: It's like my sister many years ago gave the native honor speech at her best friends uh in what was it the rehearsal dinner night before the wedding, and she was asking me, you know, for the reason she's asking me like, like, I'm the public speaker. You know how to go about it? Well, I guess, but like that's different. Standing up in front of ten people and giving a speech is different than this, even not to mention one hundred and fifty two hundred whatever, but but my point was she was like, you know, well, you have any tips for me, And I'm like, do not try. Do not try and be funny, Do not try and do a skit. Do not try and do anything that you intentionally mean to sound cute, because what's gonna happen is if you go up there and you do something that you're expecting a reaction from and you don't get it, you're going to crater.
00:09:14
Speaker 2: Like you Yeah, if you.
00:09:15
Speaker 1: Go up there and in the first ten seconds twenty seconds you deliver a line that you worked on, or you do something you know, silly or whatever and no one laughs, then then you've got another four pages of material that you still have to deliver. And I think for the average person and even me as a professional, that would crush me on the inside. Yeah, Like if I went up on stage, it was like so excited or in front of everyone to like tell you something and then nobody laughed at me. I would probably just rip up the rest and go home, like I mean, so, you know what, and people do it and it's like, yeah, you don't. No one expects you to be a comedian. No one expects you to do waka waka like. What they expect you to do is share something sentimental and have some sort of feeling your emotion, you know, and sort of inject some happiness and you know what I mean into That's the point is that no one there's few people there that mean more and you mean more, and they mean more to you than this person is standing there. So just say that it's not a roast. It's not a roast either. Okay, that's another mistake people make. I've seen it happen so many times at rehearsal dinners where like, and it's always the guy.
00:10:20
Speaker 2: It's always on the guy's side.
00:10:23
Speaker 1: But like I remember, I went to my buddy's wedding and just out of college, and everybody went up and gave him promptu speeches at the rehearsal dinner at this very fancy country club. It was extremely bride, had a lot of money, very fancy, a lot of high flutin people there and one of the dudes goes up and decide it's going to be the roast to my boy, and it's telling stories from like the fraternity and I'm going, dude, no, like this is like the night before the wedding is not the time to hear about for the for the father of the bride to hear about the kind of shenanigans that is soon to be son in law was into because there's nothing you can do about it now, Yeah right, I mean, yeah, you disagree.
00:11:02
Speaker 2: Do you like the shenanigans?
00:11:04
Speaker 5: I do.
00:11:04
Speaker 7: I love the shenanigans, and I love watching somebody crash at a wedding, like like they're in the middle of that speech and they're trying to be funny and it is not working and the bride is like me mugging them, but they keep going because like, once you're.
00:11:16
Speaker 3: Up there, you just gotta keep going.
00:11:18
Speaker 6: So I enjoy the shenanigans. I really do.
00:11:21
Speaker 7: And I feel like as long as it comes from a good place, it'll go overwhelm.
00:11:25
Speaker 2: Like if pulling him.
00:11:26
Speaker 1: There was something talk about you having me officiate your wedding at some point. I mean that was real, But the Elvis Church wouldn't let what you do.
00:11:32
Speaker 3: The Elvish Church that you are not an employee.
00:11:34
Speaker 1: I would have I would have surprised you by dressing as Elvis and marrying you. That would have that would have been funny. That would have been that would have been funny and unexpected. But you could argue from the outside, he's making it about him. You could argue that anything I do to call attention to myself at your wedding is now now not about you anymore.
00:11:51
Speaker 3: My wedding was different. Though we're in Vegas at the Lettle White Wedding Chapel. Anything goes there, I'll bets are off.
00:11:56
Speaker 1: But imagine if I stood up there and before I married you, guys, I did it waiting by the phone Skar.
00:12:00
Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
00:12:01
Speaker 7: It'd be like we're playing the throw down.
00:12:07
Speaker 1: I mean, if you asked me to do that. But like otherwise I don't, I don't know. Everyone's mad at me on the text, like you're a hater. I'm not trying to be a hater.
00:12:16
Speaker 2: It's just like you don't like fine. I like I like fun. I like fun.
00:12:21
Speaker 1: I just I kind of wonder, like, what is this guy? Don't make someone else's wedding about you. It should be all. If there's one night that it can be all about other people, it's that night. I feel like, Hey, Ryan, how you doing?
00:12:36
Speaker 2: Ryan?
00:12:37
Speaker 9: Hey, I was just gonna stay Fred.
00:12:39
Speaker 10: If you ever do get married, you have to land the plane, like have the ready reception at the end of the runway, and then you land the plane and that's how you walk into the reception at the end of the runway and then you just walk up to the altar like that.
00:12:54
Speaker 1: But wouldn't everybody's there first? Of I love how he's like, if you ever like because if you've been listening for five minutes, you know there's a very small likelihood of that. But everybody who's going to be at this wedding realizes that I have a pilot's license, Like they don't need to see it, like you know what I mean, Like I don't. I don't need to make them all stand there and wait, I land a plane and get out and like straighten myself.
00:13:13
Speaker 2: Hey, come on, everybody knows that, Ryan.
00:13:16
Speaker 9: No, it would definitely be cool. It would be like.
00:13:18
Speaker 10: When Jeff Crokes from Survivor on the finale, he would to jump out of the plane and skydives and then he'd walk into the stadium like that.
00:13:26
Speaker 9: It'd be like that.
00:13:27
Speaker 1: I saw a guy do that once. Actually I did see a guy come to his own wedding. He's a skydiver, and he jumped out of the plane, landed at his own wedding, and then like as he's like Bathan never stopped walking, like landed, stripped the gear off. He was already in this tucks and just walked down. It was that was cool. That was actually pretty cool.
00:13:44
Speaker 2: But that's like, but that's how you walk out of the plane. That's daredevil stuff like that.
00:13:48
Speaker 3: You knew he was a skydiver already.
00:13:50
Speaker 1: Yeah, but I didn't know he was going to do that. Well at first I didn't know him. It was a video, but I don't know. I don't know that anybody knew he was going to do that. I think everybody was kind of like, where is he? You know, and then he's like in the sky, like, I mean, well, come on, that's an extreme example.
00:14:02
Speaker 2: But thank you, Ryan. I appreciate it.
00:14:04
Speaker 3: So many rules.
00:14:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, Fred, drop it. No, I'm not gonna drop it. I'm gonna keep going.
00:14:10
Speaker 10: Thanks.
00:14:11
Speaker 3: We'll go on for twenty more.
00:14:12
Speaker 9: Minutes.
00:14:12
Speaker 5: Now.
00:14:12
Speaker 1: My husband and his mother, this is a text did a whole ten minute dance routine and it was horrible and I interrupted it because I couldn't take it anymore.
00:14:20
Speaker 2: I guess that's coming from the that's coming from the bride.
00:14:23
Speaker 6: I mean, like, okay, this is a long time.
00:14:25
Speaker 1: See this is what I mean. Like, this is an eight minute song. This man is singing. I'm with Fred. It's about the couple Fred's upset about has something that has nothing to do with him.
00:14:33
Speaker 2: Yeah. No, that's my job.
00:14:35
Speaker 1: That's exact as my job every day is to have an opinion on things that do not matter.
00:14:39
Speaker 2: And I've delivered. All right, Fine, I'm done, I'm done.
00:14:42
Speaker 6: Drop it.
00:14:44
Speaker 2: Thank you.
00:14:44
Speaker 11: Ki.
00:14:44
Speaker 2: You don't have to text, you can just talk that loud. The microphone is on.
00:14:47
Speaker 1: It's that time of the week once again, Amy with a right one one hundred truck. Correct, Mama, Amy's here. Let's give away some more of Amy's money, shall we?
00:14:56
Speaker 3: Yes, of course we should.
00:14:58
Speaker 2: Let's do it. I love this whole program.
00:15:01
Speaker 5: Fred.
00:15:02
Speaker 12: We're talking to nurses, we're talking to these healthcare providers. One they got a lot of debt going to school. And number two, I mean, you know as well as anybody when you were so sick. They're saving our lives, man, they're making us feel better.
00:15:14
Speaker 2: That's right.
00:15:15
Speaker 1: I needed I needed ten nurses to come in there. They give me like, you know, sponge baths and things like that.
00:15:21
Speaker 12: But that's a different kind of show.
00:15:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, well, no it is. It is.
00:15:24
Speaker 1: But you know clearly you know how dedicated I am uh to the profession. So let's welcome first the nominator here, Desiree.
00:15:32
Speaker 2: Hi, Desiree, II, how you doing alrighting? You very well?
00:15:36
Speaker 1: Say hi to my friend Amy wither Right one one hundred truck break. We call her well, we call her Mama Amy, we call her money bags, we call her very generous, we call her a lot of names.
00:15:45
Speaker 2: Hi, a Hey, Desiree.
00:15:47
Speaker 12: I'm excited to talk to you and talk to you about your sister. I can't wait to hear about Keana.
00:15:53
Speaker 13: Oh yes, he's wonderful.
00:15:55
Speaker 1: Well, let before you say nice things about it, let me bring her in here because I want I want her to be to hear this before we talk about it behind your back.
00:16:01
Speaker 13: Hey, Kanta, Hey, I didn't realize my interview with this earlier.
00:16:07
Speaker 12: I thought it was an eleven.
00:16:08
Speaker 9: I'm so sorry.
00:16:09
Speaker 2: Oh, well, you know what we're gonna interview you.
00:16:11
Speaker 11: You don't even have no no.
00:16:17
Speaker 2: Drop going on.
00:16:20
Speaker 13: No, I know, I'll rescheduled the interview for it eleven o'clock.
00:16:24
Speaker 11: I thought I did early eleven o'clock.
00:16:26
Speaker 3: I must have did it a ten.
00:16:27
Speaker 11: But I'm ready now.
00:16:28
Speaker 9: I'm so sorry.
00:16:29
Speaker 1: Okay, I hope you're ready because we're live on the radio, and Amy with it right here, and Desiree is here.
00:16:34
Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody's here.
00:16:36
Speaker 9: Wait huh yeah, and what did you think.
00:16:38
Speaker 2: We were doing? Interviewing you about what?
00:16:41
Speaker 11: I have a job interview with a hospital company that.
00:16:45
Speaker 9: I've been nervous about.
00:16:46
Speaker 3: And I rescheduled this and I thought I.
00:16:50
Speaker 9: Did it for eleven o'clock.
00:16:51
Speaker 1: No, this is something totally different. This is Fred from the radio. Ammy witherright. Your sister Desiree is here. Desiree, tell her what what what we're doing here because she's very confused.
00:17:01
Speaker 13: Clearly, well you you've been Oh my god, got me nervous.
00:17:08
Speaker 3: Take a break.
00:17:09
Speaker 13: Well, I interview in it interview in something to win because you work so hard, you.
00:17:14
Speaker 9: Always work in working, working, You.
00:17:17
Speaker 13: Never you rather go to work and attend a family event because you care about You take your job so serious that you care about all the all of the patients that you work with. I just thought you, you know, you could use.
00:17:30
Speaker 1: A break, so she wanted to hook you. And it sounds like you're a very dedicated nurse. Data you just don't like your family, don't want to go to their stuff. It's one of the other.
00:17:39
Speaker 5: Nah.
00:17:39
Speaker 11: I just I like being able to help my family out, and it's you know, I worked to.
00:17:44
Speaker 9: Be able to do that, and I like being my patients too, so it's.
00:17:48
Speaker 2: A win win.
00:17:49
Speaker 1: So I feel like nursing is a calling certain people amy wither Right, are made to do it. It sounds like Keana is one of those people.
00:17:56
Speaker 12: Yes, for sure, Keana, Man, I'm so excited did for you because you do dedicate all your time and energy. I hear from your sister. You work over time. You barely take a vacation. When was your last vacation like vacation vacation?
00:18:13
Speaker 10: Yesh?
00:18:13
Speaker 9: Was it last year or the year before that?
00:18:17
Speaker 6: We went to New Orleans.
00:18:18
Speaker 2: You have to think about it. You've been too long.
00:18:21
Speaker 3: It has been no.
00:18:22
Speaker 13: No, no, I think no no.
00:18:24
Speaker 9: We went to Branton, Yes, I had to think about it.
00:18:26
Speaker 3: We went to Branston last year.
00:18:28
Speaker 2: Yeah honest, last year last year, visit this year.
00:18:34
Speaker 6: That's right.
00:18:34
Speaker 12: And because she had to think so hard and she's kind of forgotten about Branson, we need a better vacation this year. So let's have one eight hundred trucker. I cook you up with a thousand dollars for being a fabulous nurse.
00:18:46
Speaker 2: You take a good vacation, girl. There you go.
00:18:49
Speaker 1: So no, I don't know what time you thought you were for what sort of thing. I hope that works out for you. But in the meantime, thanks to Amy and Desiree and what one hundred truck creg we're giving you a thousand bucks.
00:19:00
Speaker 2: Should be an amazing nurse.
00:19:01
Speaker 11: Thank god, thank you.
00:19:07
Speaker 2: No idea, thank you so much.
00:19:10
Speaker 11: Oh my goodness.
00:19:11
Speaker 1: Anyway, over your your resume and we'll see if you're worthy of the other job in a minute.
00:19:17
Speaker 11: But reference Yeah, I know.
00:19:23
Speaker 1: You guys are crazy, but desert aint Kiana, thank you, This is nuts. A thousand bucks for you, Kiana. Thanks to my friend Mama Amy.
00:19:31
Speaker 11: Thank you, thank you, thank you, oh my god, thank you Amy, thank you everybody that's on the last thank you, thank you, oh my God, thank you, everybody, Thank you, universe, thank you everybody, thank.
00:19:50
Speaker 6: You, thank you for the interview. Yeah, yeah, thank you, thank you.
00:19:58
Speaker 1: Hang on, mom, Amy, I don't I don't know what just happened. But what I do know is you just gave a nurse one thousand bucks and she's very grateful.
00:20:05
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fantastic.
00:20:07
Speaker 12: I hope she has a great vacation. She makes a little further than Branson, Missouri, not if there's anything wrong with Branson, Missouri, but clearly New Orleans might a bigger impact on Keana. So let's get her a good vic and guys, we get to do this again.
00:20:20
Speaker 1: Let's do it Amy with her right one eight hundred truck wreck one one hundred truck wreck dot com hooking up the nurses.
00:20:25
Speaker 2: Thank you, Amy, all right, thanks guys. They talk better than they say.
00:20:30
Speaker 11: You tell me.
00:20:31
Speaker 2: These are the radio blogs on The Fresh Show.
00:20:34
Speaker 1: Like the writing and our diaries, except we say I'm allowed to call them blogs.
00:20:37
Speaker 2: Paulina, Yes, go, thank you so much, dear blog.
00:20:41
Speaker 8: So I purchased, well, I didn't my husband purchase a house.
00:20:45
Speaker 3: We bought a house.
00:20:46
Speaker 8: Back like what January Femulary ish and we are New to the block and now we are having our first black party. And I know I grew up like having black parties and like black parties are fun. Yeah, so I'm really excited they're making a comeback. And I think because they went.
00:21:04
Speaker 3: Away for a while, right they did block parties were I feel like they were like kind of gone, and now.
00:21:10
Speaker 2: They're not a block Really you still go to those?
00:21:12
Speaker 8: Ok Now they make me come back. So I'm excited dated because this is our first one at the new house. But of course it lands on a weekend where half my family's gone and hobbyse whole family's gone, so they're all on vacation, so like no one's going to be here from them that they're a good times So that would have been fun.
00:21:30
Speaker 3: A lot of my friends like really can't come.
00:21:32
Speaker 8: And then my best friend is having his block party slash housewarming party that same day.
00:21:37
Speaker 1: So you're not throwing the block party right like it's being organized by somebody else.
00:21:41
Speaker 2: It's organized, but it's on your block.
00:21:42
Speaker 3: It's on my block.
00:21:43
Speaker 2: Okay, I want to be clear.
00:21:44
Speaker 1: It's not like, well, it's my block party to throw, but no one's coming, so I'm just not doing it.
00:21:47
Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, like.
00:21:48
Speaker 8: They picked the day they picked everything, and somebody's collecting like all the funds and everything. So speaking of the funds, there was a request of can you every house kindly requesting right forty dollars.
00:22:01
Speaker 3: And even though I knew that I will.
00:22:03
Speaker 8: Be in and out that day because my sister's here too, and we're kind of in and out right and I may or may not be there at some point, I.
00:22:09
Speaker 3: Still paid it.
00:22:10
Speaker 2: I have to.
00:22:10
Speaker 3: I felt like I had you. Yeah, Like, you cannot not pay.
00:22:13
Speaker 2: This to your neighborhood throwing this. You have to contribute.
00:22:16
Speaker 1: You cannot be the one house in the neighborhood that does not contribute to the block party, whether you're going or not.
00:22:20
Speaker 8: Going exactly, even if we were out of towny, even if I was out of town, I.
00:22:23
Speaker 1: Feel that you didn't look like you two for this thing. It's like a thousand dollars. You know, it's forty bucks. And even if you don't go, and you know they get a bounce house for all the kids in the neighborhood, you contributed to that, Like is the right thing to do.
00:22:36
Speaker 3: I love that you said that exactly.
00:22:37
Speaker 8: And one of my friends, he's like, why would you contribute to that, Like you're not going to be there, And I'm like, well, that's the point, Like I need to be the neighborly friendly like person that also contributes to these events, these organized events on our block, even though I may not be there, even though you probably will see me there too. How embarrassing when I pull my lawn chair up there for a couple of minutes and like, you know, hang out and then they're looking at me like, I don't think she paid because they will gossip. Oh yes, they will gossip.
00:23:03
Speaker 1: No, you you have to even for that reason alone. You have to contribute, just so that you're not the person they're talking about exactly. You have to. So who told you? You have a friend who was like, oh, you're not going, so don't pay?
00:23:13
Speaker 3: When do you friends teld me that.
00:23:14
Speaker 2: I don't like it?
00:23:15
Speaker 3: No, yeah, I didn't like that either. I think it's important.
00:23:18
Speaker 8: I think that I'm creating a community if you will of you know, just just contributing to the fund that we're about to have because this block is full of fun.
00:23:27
Speaker 1: I agree. No, everyone in the neighborhood as it is what it is.
00:23:30
Speaker 6: Yeah, and as the new neighbor.
00:23:31
Speaker 7: You definitely have to because the people that have already been on the block, they already are looking at you to see what kind of vibe you're going to give. So you got to start off on the right foot.
00:23:40
Speaker 8: And I haven't really to be honest, and met many neighbors. I've met a couple. I met the nice man across the street, older man. I think he's a veteran. Veteran, excuse me. Then across the street this way we got a nice couple. And then two houses down I met a nice couple too.
00:23:54
Speaker 3: That's all I know.
00:23:55
Speaker 2: You have to put It would be like in my building.
00:23:59
Speaker 1: I live in a building, high rise, bunch of units, and it is a homeowners association fee and it covers like certain staff and the pool. I guess it's like an indoor pool for working out in a gym. I don't know, like clean the floor, whatever it is, right, it would be like me going, well, I don't use the pool, so I'm going to take twenty percent off of my HOA or something every month because I don't use the I don't use it, so I don't I shouldn't have to pay for it. It's like no, but we live in a community, so we're all contributing, and we use what we use, we don't use what we don't use. But like, if you don't want to do that, then go live on a ranch in Utah where you like you don't or Montana or something where no one else is around you and you don't have to worry about anybody else.
00:24:35
Speaker 8: Right, Yeah, I agree, and actually do, like I hope that everyone's contributing because I do realize there are elderly people on the neighborhood, like in the in the block, I mean, and I kind of do hope that they are too. I mean, again, every situation is different, but I just kind of hope that they are, just so that I don't know, like I just would hate that to you know.
00:24:53
Speaker 1: You know, one, if you've got the forty bucks, yes, that's what I think, and maybe somebody doesn't, right, And so like, if you've got it, even if you're not going to be there, then you should give it because I think it's the right thing to do.
00:25:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, it makes somebody feel good, like it'll be fun.
00:25:06
Speaker 2: Well, go ahead, go ahead.
00:25:07
Speaker 4: No, I was just gonna ask if she remembers the Friend's episode where Ross moved into an apartment and the handyman was retiring.
00:25:12
Speaker 3: Oh and everyone pitched in.
00:25:14
Speaker 4: For the handyman, but Ross didn't and the whole building hated him and he had to move.
00:25:18
Speaker 5: Yeah.
00:25:19
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, someone just texted, it's a whole friend's episode. Yeah, as you said it. Yeah, yeah, Because I like Camelin, you live in a building. I live in a building like a high racing, and they try and do stuff like this, Like they try and say like oh, it's movie night, or in the community in like the chared room, or like they try and do like a in the lobby. They'll have like a happy hour once a quarter or something, and people go and I don't, but people not surprisingly because I'm on, I gonna do to show up and standing it's a high school like high school dance all over again. I get to walk around engage like that breaks. But I never lived in a neighborhood that did stuff like this, like and I kind of I don't know if I ever had kids and family like as much I don't want to live in the suburbs, I feel like you, I would it to them to go into an environment like this where people do stuff like where the neighbors. The kids play with each other, and kids ride their bikes, and like, I don't know, there's stuff that happened seasonally. We never had this growing up. Our neighborhood never did anything like this.
00:26:14
Speaker 3: You'd have black parties.
00:26:15
Speaker 2: No, But I think it's a very Midwestern thing.
00:26:16
Speaker 14: Yeah.
00:26:17
Speaker 1: Maybe it's a Southern thing too, but I know it's very much a Midwestern thing. Like the thing I told you about with my grandfather, how like everybody had when the garage door went up at five o'clock and then everybody could go drink out of the cagerator in his garage.
00:26:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm still waiting for that. I want to be that.
00:26:29
Speaker 1: I want to know what it was brilliant because the one problem for me would be you've got randoms in your driveway every day because that's you started the tradition. But the other thing is everyone loves you because you're the beer guy.
00:26:40
Speaker 3: Yeah.
00:26:41
Speaker 1: And then you know, I don't know when I need to borrow a tool or something, I can go over there and get it because I gave you, you know, perhaps blue ribbon.
00:26:47
Speaker 7: But he was smart. He had a signal when the garage is up, come when it's down. Don't bother me because some neighbors don't get the social cues. Like we spoke on Tuesday, we do not need to speak on Wednesday. Like, No, that's a good pointed. And this was in the eighties and seventies. This is before people could have a code on their garage. Because now I can see somebody getting clever and being like, well, just give me the app.
00:27:07
Speaker 1: No, no, no, I'm not going to give you the app, like, we're not doing that. I have the old I'm taking the motor off of my garage door. It's manual, so when it is up, you can attend. When it is down, you cannot attend, and it will not open for anyone but me exactly.
00:27:22
Speaker 2: But I think it's I think it's nice. It is nice they do it in your neighborhood.
00:27:25
Speaker 7: Oh I don't even make eye contact with my neighbors. Okay, I don't want to meet nobody. I don't see.
00:27:31
Speaker 1: I'm the one who gets the hard time on this show for being anti social, but it turns out many of you are too.
00:27:35
Speaker 6: I am very much so outside of here.
00:27:37
Speaker 2: Yes, people don't understand that.
00:27:40
Speaker 6: Follow me on Instagram if you want to talk.
00:27:41
Speaker 1: People are like you guys seem relatively personable and whatever. It's like, yeah, but we use all of our words before everyone's out of bed in the morning.
00:27:48
Speaker 7: Exactly, And get ready with me. I'm on TikTok if you want to talk, I don't have many words in person.
00:27:55
Speaker 2: You think that would surprise a lot of people.
00:27:56
Speaker 1: I think everyone just thinks you're just a just a nope, just a.
00:28:01
Speaker 2: A funhouse of content and friendliness.
00:28:05
Speaker 6: Nope.
00:28:05
Speaker 7: I close my garage, run in the house, let the dog out, and going out.
00:28:09
Speaker 2: Run, run in the house. I've done that too. I've done that too.
00:28:12
Speaker 1: Like why here's somebody going into the grass room in the hallway and I'm like, I'm going to wait a minute, yes, or do you ever do the thing? This is terrible? And I live in a community, I know. Do you ever do the thing? Where there's elevators?
00:28:24
Speaker 2: Of course?
00:28:25
Speaker 1: And like I'll see that there's a chance that I'll have to be in the elevator with someone else, so I'll like speed my walk up and like push the button really really fast because I want the door to close, because like there's enough elevators for everybody. So it's like I'm not I'm not inconveniencing anybody, But I don't necessarily want to have to talk to you, so or all walk slower so that the person in front of me can get an elevator and have their own elevator.
00:28:47
Speaker 2: Then I get my own elevator. Oh yes, okay, good, I'm not.
00:28:52
Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm like, friend, hold on, I'm getting on the elevator. And what you say?
00:28:55
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:28:55
Speaker 1: The best part is when you are pretending to be on the phone then the phone rings, like, oh oh, it was just connected.
00:29:02
Speaker 2: I had no idea. I'm waiting by the phone.
00:29:03
Speaker 1: After I've ever been left waiting by the phone. It's the Fred Show. Hi, good morning, Welcome to the program. How are you wait?
00:29:14
Speaker 14: I'm good. I'm excited.
00:29:16
Speaker 2: Did you say we We said.
00:29:18
Speaker 14: No, no, no, I said I'm excited.
00:29:21
Speaker 2: Oh I know you said. I was like, what's that annoying?
00:29:23
Speaker 6: So maybe I did. I don't know.
00:29:25
Speaker 1: I mean she's excited though, because we're going to fix I just we're going to fix this, Yiky, We're going to fix this. Okay, whatever's going on, I just feeling in my bones we're going to straighten this out.
00:29:35
Speaker 2: So what's going on with this guy, Mikey?
00:29:37
Speaker 1: How did you guys meet tell us about any dates that you've been on, and then you know where things are Now you feel like you're being ghosted, right.
00:29:43
Speaker 14: Yeah, Okay, well we haven't exactly been on a date, but I'll explain. Okay, So I met him at a grocery store. We were in the wine aisle and I couldn't find anyone to help me, and so he was there too, so I just like, hey, can you help me.
00:30:01
Speaker 9: I'm trying to figure.
00:30:02
Speaker 14: Out, you know, stuff for the dinner party. And he We end up talking for like thirty minutes. It was like so organic, it was so easy. We were getting along so good, and we exchanged numbers and I just loved that. I was like finally meeting someone out in the wild, like in an organic way and not on the app. And then I just never heard from him.
00:30:29
Speaker 2: Wow.
00:30:30
Speaker 1: Okay, So after this, this whole conversation and meeting out in the wild, so you really got a vibe for you know each other. Because again on the dating apps we talk about it all the time, you really don't know what you're getting exactly, Like everything could look good on paper and then you get together it's not really there. But you were able to gauge that in the wine aisle, in the grocery store, and it was it was going well, and you're thinking, driving away from this place, like this guy's gonna call me, We're gonna go on a date. This is great, a new way to meet someone in person, exactly.
00:30:58
Speaker 2: Yeah.
00:30:58
Speaker 14: And we even had like a couple friends in common, so it wasn't like it all felt like too perfect.
00:31:04
Speaker 2: It was all coming together. Yeah.
00:31:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, You've never heard from this guy, and you're like, what's going on? So that's where we come in. We're gonna call Mikey see if we can get him on the phone, ask these questions.
00:31:12
Speaker 2: You'll be on the phone as well.
00:31:13
Speaker 1: And you know, the hope here, as always is that we can figure out what's going on, and in this case sets you guys up on a first date, a real first date, and we'll pay for it.
00:31:21
Speaker 2: Okay, Kaya, Yeah, Okay, let's.
00:31:24
Speaker 1: Figure out what's going on after Sabrina Carpenter in two minutes, Part two of Waiting by the Phone, Stay right here. It's The Fred's Show. It's Friday, Sabrina Carpenter, It's The Fred's Show. Good in morning. Thanks for having us on, Hey, Kaya, all right, welcome back. Let's call this guy Mikey. You met buying wine in a store and got to talking and the conversation was good. You talked for a while, you have friends in common, you were attracted to him, exchange numbers, and you expected to hear from this guy for another date, except you haven't, or not for another date, for odd date, any date, but he hasn't called you, and you're like, what's going on? Every I thought everything was good when we met, so why is he calling me?
00:32:01
Speaker 9: Yeah?
00:32:02
Speaker 2: All right, let's call Mikey. Now, good luck. Hi Mikey.
00:32:17
Speaker 9: Yeah, that's Mikey.
00:32:17
Speaker 1: Hey, Mikey, good morning. My name is Fred. I'm calling from the Fred Show, the Morning radio Show. I have to tell you that we are on the radio right now. I do need your permission to continue with the call. Can which yeah, for just a second. You can hang up anytime, all.
00:32:30
Speaker 9: Right, yeah? Yeah, yeah, sure, Well, thank.
00:32:32
Speaker 1: You very much. We're calling on behalf of a woman named Kaya. I guess you met her. You guys are buying wine at the store and you got to talking and exchange numbers.
00:32:39
Speaker 2: Do you remember this woman Kaya? Wine? Wine or something? You're buying one?
00:32:45
Speaker 5: Oh?
00:32:46
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, so yeah.
00:32:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, what about it? What happened with this woman?
00:32:51
Speaker 1: Because she she called us and told us that she had enjoyed meeting you and that you talked for a while and there was a vibe and it was chemistry, and that you guys knew some of the same people in exchange number and talked about going out. And she says she hasn't heard from you, and she's wondering why.
00:33:05
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, well yeah I remember her. So here's the deal.
00:33:11
Speaker 15: We we we we didn't meet, we might buying line.
00:33:17
Speaker 16: We talked for a while, we uh realized we had a couple of mutual friends, and you know, it seemed like a nice thing. You know, it's a it's not a thing that happens all the time you meet someone, you know, shopping, et cetera.
00:33:30
Speaker 2: Out and about right, we.
00:33:33
Speaker 15: Exchanged numbers and I thought, all right, maybe i'll call it this girl. And we're walking out and I'm behind her heading out of the parking lot, and I saw that she not only didn't put her card away, but she left it just standing in a handicapped.
00:33:50
Speaker 9: Parking spot, and that really really ticked me off. And uh, that's a note for me.
00:33:59
Speaker 17: So I I saw that as a huge red flag and a kind of like an indication of like character and just a lack of care.
00:34:07
Speaker 9: And I don't know, I just I think I just kind of.
00:34:10
Speaker 2: Was was a little.
00:34:15
Speaker 1: There's all, there's Kaya. I forgot to mention Kaya's here. I'm sorry, mikey Kaya. You know this is this is criminal. This is criminal. First of all, you need to put your card away first and foremost. And second of all, if you're not gonna put your card away, then you don't put it in a handicapped spot. So this is just doubly criminal. And I'm going to turn you into the police, I think, because.
00:34:34
Speaker 2: This is terrible. I don't I don't.
00:34:36
Speaker 1: I don't disagree with him at all. Like that's a very unconsiderate thing to do.
00:34:39
Speaker 14: I okay, I don't remember doing this first off. But if it was such a like big deal, why wouldn't you have confronted me?
00:34:49
Speaker 3: Then?
00:34:49
Speaker 14: I think this is a crazy reason to not.
00:34:53
Speaker 9: Wait, you wanted me to you who confront someone they just they just met about not putting their thing way. It's I was just going to leave it be and say, all right, I guess she's not really my kind of person, you know.
00:35:04
Speaker 14: I mean, he's like you, why wouldn't you just do it?
00:35:09
Speaker 17: Well, why wouldn't you You you parked next to a handicap spot and you leave the cart in the handicap spot just because you were too lazy to.
00:35:16
Speaker 9: Go put it in the actual in the actual points her belongs. I was like, this is this is not this is not someone that I want to I want to date.
00:35:24
Speaker 1: Now hold on one second, mind, you know, I'm not saying this is your fault, but that being said, you observed all this happening, and you also drove away. So if you if you were that insulted by it, it's like, so is that you can't to a person again?
00:35:35
Speaker 2: You could?
00:35:35
Speaker 1: I guess you could have just gone and helped her out and grabbed the cart and put it away.
00:35:39
Speaker 2: But you didn't. You didn't do that, did you?
00:35:41
Speaker 9: Yeah? Well, I was parked on the other side of the lot. But but as I was walking I saw her do that, and well, so how awkward would that be? She gets in the car and then sees this guy that she just got her number two picking up her cart and putting it back in the thing.
00:35:54
Speaker 17: I wasn't gonna I wasn't gonna do that because I thought that, you know what, they love it.
00:35:57
Speaker 2: You know, I'm not disagreeing that that.
00:35:59
Speaker 14: Was just like anyway, because now we're fighting about it on the radio.
00:36:02
Speaker 9: Why didn't you, Now who's supposed to that.
00:36:05
Speaker 11: I didn't even know why you didn't call me.
00:36:08
Speaker 2: Well, now we know. I'm just gonna say, he was so offended.
00:36:12
Speaker 1: Again, not your fault, Mikey, very inconsiderate, Kaya, but but you were so offended that you can't call this person or interact with her, but you also just drove away.
00:36:22
Speaker 9: Just take the note.
00:36:24
Speaker 17: Just take the note, though it takes the hints like, yeah, I didn't call her like it happens, you know, like it happens.
00:36:31
Speaker 9: Mystery of life.
00:36:32
Speaker 6: You know that's right.
00:36:34
Speaker 7: Stand on business because the problem is Kaye, not Mikey. Don't try to splip this around for it.
00:36:39
Speaker 2: She is saying. I'm saying he's so upset about it.
00:36:42
Speaker 6: I mean, but parking in a handicaps y girl.
00:36:45
Speaker 2: Come on, now, this is a very common say, you know.
00:36:47
Speaker 14: Parking the handicap spot.
00:36:51
Speaker 12: A car.
00:36:51
Speaker 3: Okay, even worse, it's bad.
00:36:53
Speaker 7: So now you want the handicap to get out there car, move the car, and then try to part.
00:36:57
Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not.
00:36:58
Speaker 1: Trying to make a grander political sam in here like or like a social statement, but it is it is prevalent, very prevalent these days, the number of people who are extremely insulted by things that they are doing nothing about, so they're very very mad, but they don't actually contribute to the solution. So I'm just saying, you know, if he was that upset about what could have been and the inconvenience it could have been for someone who's disabled, then he caught it was the problem.
00:37:21
Speaker 17: It was I The thing is, I wasn't gonna get on a soapbox and yeoda about it.
00:37:25
Speaker 9: But I just I just noted it. I just talked it and said, all right, not not my kind of person. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna.
00:37:31
Speaker 2: Be calling her.
00:37:32
Speaker 9: You know, I was going to face about it. Not I've been asked about.
00:37:36
Speaker 1: It, absent minded, inconsiderate, and you're just like, you know what, I don't want to I just don't think this is going to be a A person who would do that is not a person who you think you want to be with.
00:37:46
Speaker 2: Mikey. That's what you're saying exactly.
00:37:48
Speaker 9: You know what it is.
00:37:48
Speaker 17: You know, it's like it's like when you're at to dinner with someone and they're really nice to you and they're really you know, uh, they're they're really enjoyable to be around, and then they're absolutely rude as hell to the server and you're.
00:37:59
Speaker 1: Like, that's something we've had that on waiting on the phone before. And I would agree with you. That's a sign that someone is probably not that thoughtful and it is inconsiderate if they're not kind to people who are there to help them. So I would agree with that too. But anyway, ky, yeah, I don't.
00:38:15
Speaker 3: Need to hear this anymore.
00:38:17
Speaker 1: Okay, it's the golden rule. Okay, you put your card away. Everybody knows the golden rule and.
00:38:23
Speaker 14: You and now I feel like I'm like on cart and arts or something like this is not well.
00:38:29
Speaker 2: Yeah you should be.
00:38:30
Speaker 3: It's so easy to put your card up.
00:38:32
Speaker 1: We live in a society. I say it every day. It's every single day. We live in a society. But anyway, look at whether or not people agree. Mikey's not interested. Kaya you know, maybe it was a one time mistake. Maybe you were just thinking about something else and distracted and whatever. But for whatever reason, I would say after this call, it wouldn't matter. I doubt either one of you want to go out with each other now, right?
00:38:52
Speaker 9: Yeah?
00:38:54
Speaker 2: Okay? Good, Well there you go.

The Fread show is on Friend's Fun Fact Fred Fun so much nice guys. Did you know? Did you know that a snail can sleep for three years?
00:43:08
Speaker 13: What?
00:43:09
Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm jealous me too. A snail can sleep for three years. Although the extended net may sound appealing at first, it's actually caused by less than ideal conditions. Snails need moisture to survive, so if the weather's not cooperating, they can actually sleep up to three years.
00:43:29
Speaker 2: So there.
00:43:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, moisture to survive. That's what sna That's what everybody needs, really, but snails, snails really need more pressure.
It is.

00:16:38
Speaker 2: We were doing? Interviewing you about what?
