OM DENNE EPISODE
In The Count of Monte Cristo, the Rue du Helder breakfast turns as Albert recounts the full account of his capture in the catacombs of Saint Sebastian.
He describes being deceived by a masked peasant, seized at gunpoint, and carried before Luigi Vampa, who set a fixed ransom and hour for his death.
Before the assembled guests, Albert lays out what he witnessed and admits what he cannot explain—the Count’s power over the bandits who held him. The story is now complete on his side, awaiting the Count’s reply.
The account is given, and the question remains.
