In Part Two of this Pelham Place Armed Forces Week special, Jay continues the conversation with Marine veteran Craig Grossi @FredTheAfghan22 picking up where we left off—with the high-stakes mission to extract Fred from the battlefield and bring him home. Craig shares the unbelievable true story of smuggling Fred out of Afghanistan, the challenges of transitioning out of the military, and the emotional road trip that helped him rediscover the country he fought for. Along the way, we hear how a chance encounter in a Mississippi juke joint (Red's Lounge) changed two lives forever—and how Fred’s presence continues to open hearts and inspire healing everywhere Craig goes.
The episode closes with a timely and much-needed message about resilience, gratitude, and unity in uncertain times. If you’ve ever needed a reason to believe in hope, this is it.
Pick up Craig’s books Craig & Fred and Second Chances wherever books are sold. Find out more at www.fredtheafghan.com and you can follow Craig & Nora on Instagram (@fredtheafghan) to get all the latest in their world, including their own podcast and upcoming appearances.
