OM DENNE EPISODE
A lot of photo and video careers don’t start with a perfect business plan. They start with showing up, volunteering, and figuring it out when the gear breaks five minutes before service. Lamar Shealey joins me to tell the real story of growing from church music and live streaming into professional photography, videography, and co-owning Delta Studios Orlando with Quentin. If you’re building a career in content creation, this conversation is a roadmap built from reps, not hype.
We get into how their studio came together from unused space, why a dedicated podcast studio setup changes the client experience, and what it takes to promote a studio while juggling a full-time role in education and family life. We also share behind-the-scenes moments from a Kia Center production with courtside access, including the kind of last-second fixes that only live events can teach you.
Then we go deep on the practical side of running a modern video production workflow: Blackmagic cameras, ATEM switching, the reality of massive BRAW files, and why tools like Ultimatte can make green screen work cleaner and faster. Lamar also opens up about pricing strategy for photographers and videographers, how to stop being seen as “the cheap guy,” and how to handle client dissatisfaction professionally when problems are outside your control.
If you’re in Orlando or anywhere else building a photography studio, video production business, or live streaming kit, you’ll walk away with clearer standards, smarter expectations, and a stronger mindset for the long game. Subscribe for more Studio V Sessions, share this with a creator friend, and leave a review with the biggest pricing or client lesson you’ve learned so far.

00:00:04.320 --> 00:00:10.480
Welcome to another episode of Studio V Sessions with me, Bindra, owner of Bindra Productions here in Orlando, Florida.
00:00:10.480 --> 00:00:18.960
If you've been following us, these are unfiltered, unedited, uh, you know, real conversations with people who are in the photo video industry.
00:00:18.960 --> 00:00:24.640
And uh just like always, this season, we have Mario here helping us on the producer desk making this happens.
00:00:24.800 --> 00:00:25.679
Hi guys, how are you?
00:00:25.679 --> 00:00:26.719
Welcome back.
00:00:27.120 --> 00:00:30.239
And uh our guest today is Lamar.
00:00:30.239 --> 00:00:36.399
Yeah, an amazing photo video professional, and now a studio owner, I guess co-owner with Quintin.
00:00:36.399 --> 00:00:37.039
Yeah.
00:00:37.039 --> 00:00:38.560
Uh welcome.
00:00:38.560 --> 00:00:39.119
Thank you.
00:00:39.119 --> 00:00:40.079
Welcome.
00:00:40.079 --> 00:00:41.679
Well, uh, tell people.
00:00:41.679 --> 00:00:42.719
So, what do you do?
00:00:42.719 --> 00:00:47.679
I guess uh tell us people about the studio, you and what what do you do, I guess?
00:00:47.679 --> 00:00:50.799
Okay, um, so I know that's a broad question, right?
00:00:51.679 --> 00:00:52.640
It is very broad.
00:00:52.640 --> 00:00:56.799
So I guess um I'm a photographer, videographer.
00:00:56.799 --> 00:00:59.359
I've been doing that for a while.
00:00:59.359 --> 00:01:03.280
I guess I'll get more into the story because you you don't know much about my story.
00:01:03.280 --> 00:01:07.359
So I started out as a musician at my church when I was 15 years old.
00:01:07.359 --> 00:01:11.280
I've been playing the piano for when I was a little kid, right?
00:01:11.280 --> 00:01:15.040
So I got hooked up with the church and started going there.
00:01:15.040 --> 00:01:17.280
I've been going there since I was 15, I'm 39.
00:01:17.599 --> 00:01:18.560
Wow, that's a long time.
00:01:18.719 --> 00:01:27.280
And then as um, so we had some hurricanes came, the building we were in, bad flooding, we ended up moving to a hotel.
00:01:27.280 --> 00:01:29.680
So then at that point, I started learning how to do sound.
00:01:29.680 --> 00:01:38.640
Because we're breaking down every Sunday, is me, basically my friends, and the church kind of you know went a little bit down because you know, people don't like going to hotels.
00:01:38.640 --> 00:01:43.040
And then we started building it up and getting more equipment and doing all that stuff.
00:01:43.040 --> 00:01:50.719
Um well met my wife, she started coming to the church actually before that, and I actually brought her.
00:01:50.719 --> 00:02:01.200
So did that, and then as we move into our next building, built that out, we had a young man helping out with video, and he's actually doing it professionally now too.
00:02:01.200 --> 00:02:12.000
And I just grabbed a camera one day because he wasn't there because I was doing basically the audio, and it started taking pictures, and and I just really liked it and just kept going from there.
00:02:12.000 --> 00:02:17.680
And we've been streaming at that church probably for 15 years.
00:02:18.000 --> 00:02:18.960
That's a long time.
00:02:19.199 --> 00:02:23.599
Started from not knowing what we're doing and just trying to get better and better and better.
00:02:23.599 --> 00:02:27.520
And so I just started from there and just kept growing.
00:02:27.919 --> 00:02:28.479
That's awesome.
00:02:28.479 --> 00:02:32.800
And that's a common, you know, again, thread with a lot of people, especially who do live streaming.
00:02:32.800 --> 00:02:44.400
A lot of times they start a church or you know, any other place of faith that they go to, place of worship, uh, because it's common for those places who need these services to get to people, you know, that maybe can't come in or whatever.
00:02:44.400 --> 00:02:51.039
And uh, and and it's such an incredible thing that you're learning this technical thing, a place that you're gonna go.
00:02:51.039 --> 00:03:03.599
You know, uh, I mean, uh you're a volunteer at, and then even though you wouldn't think you could learn such high technical stuff at a volunteer position, people do after years and years of doing this, you know, uh you're basically an expert at it, right?
00:03:03.840 --> 00:03:11.360
Yeah, I mean, I I from doing the sound, I started doing music, I was singing, I was making music, and then just switched.
00:03:11.360 --> 00:03:15.759
I moved out of, I moved, came back, couldn't get back in music, just started doing video.
00:03:15.759 --> 00:03:22.800
And you know, working with things that don't always work half the time teaches you a lot.
00:03:23.199 --> 00:03:23.520
Exactly.
00:03:23.520 --> 00:03:24.960
That's an important life lesson.
00:03:24.960 --> 00:03:27.120
Yeah, how to fix things, how to fix things.
00:03:27.120 --> 00:03:28.400
People are losing that skill.
00:03:28.400 --> 00:03:31.280
I feel like it's very important to be able to be hands-on.
00:03:31.280 --> 00:03:38.560
I find like again, I'm not that old, but I'm just saying people don't stop need to like the current culture is you know, if it breaks, you throw away.
00:03:38.560 --> 00:03:41.840
Yeah, very few people are like, let me try and fix it first.
00:03:41.840 --> 00:03:42.560
Yeah, yeah.
00:03:42.800 --> 00:03:43.280
It's broke.
00:03:43.280 --> 00:03:45.840
So what what can I what else can I do to it if it's broke?
00:03:45.840 --> 00:03:48.000
We're gonna throw it away anyway, so I might as well take it.
00:03:48.000 --> 00:03:49.520
I was always like that from a kid.
00:03:49.520 --> 00:03:52.479
I took apart remote control cars when they broke.
00:03:52.479 --> 00:03:54.800
I just I just love always taking things apart.
00:03:54.800 --> 00:03:56.879
Most times probably didn't put it together, right?
00:03:56.879 --> 00:03:57.759
That was me as a kid.
00:03:58.159 --> 00:04:02.319
I'd pull it apart, you know, try to fix it, but usually have no idea how to put it back together.
00:04:02.319 --> 00:04:03.840
And that's how you learn.
00:04:04.000 --> 00:04:06.800
That's how you learn, and eventually you start being able to put stuff back together.
00:04:06.800 --> 00:04:08.240
Exactly.
00:04:08.479 --> 00:04:09.360
So that's awesome.
00:04:09.360 --> 00:04:19.199
Uh, and then how did that lead to, I guess, today where you are, which is like I said, uh building studio, doing it professionally in your studio, photo and video and all that.
00:04:19.519 --> 00:04:23.279
So doing the same thing week in and week out.
00:04:23.279 --> 00:04:27.680
Um so my team is mostly young young kids, and I'm trying to teach them.
00:04:27.680 --> 00:04:30.399
And you know, I've had kids go to college.
00:04:30.399 --> 00:04:34.000
I've had um I have one, she just became a lawyer.
00:04:34.000 --> 00:04:38.000
Um and she's married, and I have another one.
00:04:38.000 --> 00:04:42.000
He's married with a kid, and he's doing videography professionally, traveling around the country.
00:04:42.000 --> 00:04:45.120
I'm like, he hires me for jobs now, you know.
00:04:45.120 --> 00:04:52.800
So it's it just got like I want to do this more, so I want to expand and do more things.
00:04:52.800 --> 00:05:00.959
So you know, with uh with working with a church, you have a budget, and sometimes it's a very tight, strict budget, and there's certain things that you can't do.
00:05:00.959 --> 00:05:03.920
Um, and I just want to be able to do more things.
00:05:03.920 --> 00:05:06.000
And hey, I want to try something.
00:05:06.000 --> 00:05:09.279
Okay, I have no restriction of what I can try in this area.
00:05:09.279 --> 00:05:16.480
Just hey, if I got an extra couple hundred dollars, I want to buy this Ultimat, yeah, go ahead, buy it.
00:05:17.199 --> 00:05:18.000
I can use it.
00:05:18.000 --> 00:05:18.639
Exactly.
00:05:18.639 --> 00:05:24.399
And that's this is great freedom though, to have uh being able to, like you said, just make things happen.
00:05:24.959 --> 00:05:30.000
Yes, and expanding it out and trying to get more clients and you know, meet people.
00:05:30.000 --> 00:05:31.759
This is always the fun thing.
00:05:31.759 --> 00:05:33.839
That's one thing I like about photography.
00:05:33.839 --> 00:05:35.920
Um, you get to meet a lot of people.
00:05:35.920 --> 00:05:50.560
Yeah, um, I like doing the family photography as well because just interacting with people and you know, well, I'm also a teacher and phasing that out a little bit, but you know, being able to connect with the kids and you know, it's having fun.
00:05:50.560 --> 00:05:51.519
That's all it was about.
00:05:51.519 --> 00:05:55.040
Like when they come in and say, I don't know how to do this, I was like, Well, we're just gonna have some fun.
00:05:55.199 --> 00:05:55.920
Yeah, that's it.
00:05:55.920 --> 00:05:56.800
Exactly.
00:05:56.800 --> 00:05:58.240
Make it easy for them, right?
00:05:58.240 --> 00:05:58.959
Exactly.
00:05:58.959 --> 00:06:02.160
Uh so when at what point did you meet Quentin?
00:06:02.639 --> 00:06:07.439
I met Quentin at a at our church conference.
00:06:07.439 --> 00:06:17.040
Um, a gentleman named Troy brought him in and met him one year, he came in, helped out, and then I guess just throughout the year met him again.
00:06:17.040 --> 00:06:37.920
He came to the church a few more times to help us out with little one-off things, and then I don't know, we just started talking more and he was we were getting ready for the next conference, which was the one last year, and he was like, Well, I'm going to Africa for a few months, and and Troy, he does this professionally as well on the big stage.
00:06:37.920 --> 00:06:41.680
And he's like, Well, we need you to learn how to do some use some of this equipment.
00:06:41.680 --> 00:06:47.040
So I'm like, Well, at my school building, we have a whole side that we're not even using, bring it over there.
00:06:47.199 --> 00:06:47.439
Yeah.
00:06:47.600 --> 00:06:50.319
So we brought it over and we just started hooking up stuff and doing things.
00:06:50.319 --> 00:06:50.800
They left.
00:06:50.800 --> 00:06:53.920
I worked on it a little bit, and this is just how it came about.
00:06:53.920 --> 00:06:55.040
And it was sitting empty.
00:06:55.040 --> 00:06:57.360
We were like, we just start a studio here.
00:06:57.519 --> 00:07:01.519
Yeah, that's such such a I mean, amazing thing if you think about it, right?
00:07:01.519 --> 00:07:08.800
You had an empty side that you guys weren't using for the school, and obviously you're doing video production through the church.
00:07:08.800 --> 00:07:16.319
Quentin's working, you know, with the ministry, and and then somehow you two connect, and it's like the perfect mixture of people.
00:07:16.319 --> 00:07:22.240
You know, I I mean, I like I I think about like I don't too much believe in fate, but I'm like, that has to be fate, right?
00:07:22.240 --> 00:07:26.560
Like uh, you guys were meant to be, and then obviously I love what you've done with it.
00:07:26.560 --> 00:07:45.439
Uh, but you know, I it had to start with you two spark building the spark of let's do something here, you know, and and create something together where you know, not only is it it's a nice space, but more importantly, it's a business, it's a place where other people can come and create content, and you guys can create content for other people and stuff like that, you know, right?
00:07:45.439 --> 00:07:51.360
Uh so uh whose idea was it to build this studio?
00:07:51.360 --> 00:07:52.879
Was it you or Quentin?
00:07:53.199 --> 00:07:59.040
It's funny, and and when you talk about faith, it's funny how um God puts people in your life because I've always had that.
00:07:59.040 --> 00:08:03.680
I've for years I wanted to have a photography studio.
00:08:03.680 --> 00:08:14.480
Now that's not the main thing that it is, but I was like, man, a place where during Christmas time I could bring people in because a lot of the studios closed that were doing photography for um families.
00:08:14.480 --> 00:08:14.720
Yeah.
00:08:14.720 --> 00:08:16.000
And I was like, I want to do that.
00:08:16.000 --> 00:08:30.319
We had an extra space at the at our other building, and I would just do it there, but I was like setting this up and breaking it down every single time and taking a c taking my whole class apart and moving all the chairs around and moving my desk around and then have to put it all back together.
00:08:30.319 --> 00:08:31.920
It's a lot of work.
00:08:31.920 --> 00:08:38.960
Yeah, I spend 75% of the time just putting things together and taking it apart, not even shooting or editing.
00:08:38.960 --> 00:08:44.879
So when it came when he came and just kind of he's like, Man, this would be cool as a studio.
00:08:44.879 --> 00:08:46.960
I was like, I don't think so.
00:08:46.960 --> 00:08:52.480
And so it's kind of like he just came in and just like kind of reaffirmed something I already wanted to do.
00:08:53.600 --> 00:09:10.639
That makes sense because you know, you uh you look at that space, it's meant to be, because there's a narrow hallway on one side, big rooms on the other side, you know, kind of that's essentially a good layout for for a good small-size studio where corporate and commercial work can take place, which is kind of I think what you're leaning towards, right?
00:09:10.639 --> 00:09:14.480
Photo shoots, video shoots, podcasts, things like that.
00:09:14.480 --> 00:09:26.960
And uh yeah, normally, you know, the way the commercial buildings are designed, they may not work for it, but the way that's designed with a small front lobby, so you have more space, makeup room on the right, like it kind of seems like it was designed.
00:09:26.960 --> 00:09:34.159
I I don't think it was, but it was designed for yeah, that it was designed probably as a classroom, but it kind of works as a studio very easily.
00:09:34.159 --> 00:09:38.639
You guys didn't have to like you know, it'd be one thing if you had to do a full remodel.
00:09:38.639 --> 00:09:43.360
Uh, all you had to really uh do is I'm saying you didn't have to change the layout, it basically worked.
00:09:43.360 --> 00:09:49.440
You just had to paint, you know, obviously get the equipment in there or the setups in there, but you didn't have to like tear down walls or whatever.
00:09:49.440 --> 00:09:51.200
It wasn't an extensive project.
00:09:51.200 --> 00:09:52.559
Uh so that's really awesome.
00:09:52.559 --> 00:09:55.840
Like I said, I'm so happy that you guys met or whatever.
00:09:55.840 --> 00:10:02.080
And the way I was introduced to you through was Quentin, because I knew Quentin now for a few years, thanks to Alex.
00:10:02.080 --> 00:10:07.759
Uh, actually, very long uh quite a few years I've known uh Quentin, at least I would say four or four years minimum.
00:10:07.759 --> 00:10:10.480
So through Alex is how I met Quentin.
00:10:10.480 --> 00:10:23.200
All right, and uh obviously uh I think it was his uh meetup where or even before the meetup, he was telling me about his his this you know studio idea or whatever, and then I think it was his meetup where where we met, right?
00:10:23.200 --> 00:10:24.960
Yes, yeah, so that was incredible.
00:10:24.960 --> 00:10:30.399
Yeah, so so it was Quentin who kind of met us meet, and then we had a chance to work together.
00:10:30.399 --> 00:10:35.200
So I think we were doing the Kia Center shoot, and uh he was really pushing for you.
00:10:35.200 --> 00:10:41.919
He's like, you gotta have Lamar there, and you know, Quentin is one of my guys, so it's like, you know, if you say it, Lamar's gonna be there.
00:10:42.240 --> 00:10:44.080
Yeah, that's one that's one cool thing about Quentin.
00:10:44.080 --> 00:10:52.639
He's been pushing me to get out there because I think one of the things that I just haven't had with working with churches, just that opportunity to get out past the church.
00:10:52.639 --> 00:10:58.720
It's not saying I'm leaving the church behind, but just get out past the church and be able to kind of experience other things.
00:10:58.879 --> 00:10:59.120
Yeah.
00:10:59.279 --> 00:11:07.919
Um, because I've been put in a lot of different positions, and when I come in, you know, of course, in the church world where I've been working, I was always over it.
00:11:07.919 --> 00:11:08.720
Right?
00:11:08.720 --> 00:11:15.120
But I'm like, I it's good to come out and do things and just be able to learn and experience different things.
00:11:15.120 --> 00:11:23.039
And the funny thing was after that shoot, um, I think about a month later, I got a job working um Thai Tribbit.
00:11:23.039 --> 00:11:25.039
I don't know if you ever heard of him, he's a gospel artist.
00:11:25.039 --> 00:11:25.360
Okay.
00:11:25.360 --> 00:11:31.600
He called me to come shoot him at the same thing for family and faith.
00:11:31.600 --> 00:11:32.559
I was like, oh, cool.
00:11:32.559 --> 00:11:33.120
So I can't.
00:11:33.279 --> 00:11:35.600
Now you know every all the alleyways and how to get in there.
00:11:35.600 --> 00:11:36.639
I know how to get in there.
00:11:36.639 --> 00:11:38.799
I would have yeah, I would have been lost if I didn't have that stadium.
00:11:38.799 --> 00:11:42.240
That place is uh I mean, I guess it's all stadiums.
00:11:42.240 --> 00:11:44.639
They they designed them, I guess, for you to get lost in there.
00:11:44.639 --> 00:11:46.000
Uh, but that's really cool.
00:11:46.000 --> 00:11:46.799
I really appreciate it.
00:11:46.799 --> 00:11:48.399
Like I said, he introduced me to Andrew.
00:11:48.399 --> 00:11:49.759
That's what it was, basically.
00:11:49.759 --> 00:11:53.039
I was like, I want to bring Andrew, and I was like, Well, we'll bring him Lamar too.
00:11:53.039 --> 00:11:53.600
How about that?
00:11:53.600 --> 00:11:58.480
I told my clients, like, well, we need an extra person, we gotta fit them in.
00:11:58.480 --> 00:11:59.679
You know, that's how it is.
00:11:59.679 --> 00:12:07.840
Uh, and to be real, I I I trust Quentin's opinion because like I said, he introduced me to Andrew, and same thing, he knows him from C Fan, and like I said, Andrew is incredible too.
00:12:07.840 --> 00:12:09.759
Andrew, yeah, he's talented.
00:12:09.759 --> 00:12:12.960
Yeah, he's he's he's like I say, he likes me in the tech side.
00:12:12.960 --> 00:12:13.360
I love that.
00:12:13.360 --> 00:12:17.440
He's like so deep into every little equipment, how to put it together, how to be creative.
00:12:17.440 --> 00:12:18.720
I mean, he's very creative too.
00:12:18.720 --> 00:12:20.159
I'm saying so shooting goes.
00:12:20.159 --> 00:12:22.480
Uh funny enough, I'm gonna have him a shoot tomorrow, so I'm excited.
00:12:22.480 --> 00:12:23.360
Oh, yeah, that's it.
00:12:23.360 --> 00:12:27.440
Yeah, so um anyway, so when he's at, I was like, okay, so you're coming.
00:12:27.440 --> 00:12:31.679
And I told the client, I was like, well, we need extra people this year, it's gonna be more coverage, right?
00:12:31.679 --> 00:12:34.159
Yeah, anyway, but no, no, I'm so glad you came, man.
00:12:34.159 --> 00:12:37.279
It was such a good good time having you unset.
00:12:37.279 --> 00:12:40.559
I think what not only did we have fun, I think we had a lot of fun that night.
00:12:40.559 --> 00:12:41.120
We did.
00:12:41.120 --> 00:12:44.159
Uh, even though the singer wasn't a good, I wish you were there last year.
00:12:44.159 --> 00:12:44.399
Okay.
00:12:44.399 --> 00:12:48.320
I mean, to be real, I mean, he's a good singer, but his music just isn't danceworthy.
00:12:48.320 --> 00:12:48.720
Yes.
00:12:48.720 --> 00:12:51.919
Last year, the singer they had, his music was very, you know, dance worthy.
00:12:51.919 --> 00:12:54.399
So people were all on the court dancing and having fun.
00:12:54.399 --> 00:12:58.720
But literally, the security had to be like, no, no, we can't have that many people on the court, right?
00:12:58.720 --> 00:13:00.480
Because it's gonna I guess damage, whatever.
00:13:00.480 --> 00:13:02.000
So, no, no, no, back up.
00:13:02.000 --> 00:13:09.600
But I'm saying it it was uh it was a party, but versus this year I felt like less people want to dance and not because he wasn't singing good or whatever.
00:13:09.600 --> 00:13:13.759
But that music wasn't dance, but either way, we still had a party, we had a lot of fun.
00:13:13.759 --> 00:13:16.639
We were able to go up on the lounge and you know had a good meal.
00:13:16.639 --> 00:13:21.200
Uh, your your member, Mario, what's your memory from that shoot?
00:13:22.000 --> 00:13:23.519
From the Kia Center shoot?
00:13:23.519 --> 00:13:24.240
Yeah.
00:13:24.240 --> 00:13:26.559
No, I had a lot of fun.
00:13:26.559 --> 00:13:30.000
We had like uh we could go anywhere.
00:13:30.000 --> 00:13:35.039
Yeah, we had full access to full access in like in to the core even.
00:13:35.039 --> 00:13:36.879
Yeah, so that that's great.
00:13:36.879 --> 00:13:44.159
And then we also had like you were saying the like the VIP access to that like buffet.
00:13:44.159 --> 00:13:46.000
Yeah, yeah, it was it was really cool shoot.
00:13:46.480 --> 00:13:48.240
Yeah, how about how about the shoot part itself?
00:13:48.240 --> 00:13:50.799
Did you enjoy actually what the content we were creating?
00:13:50.799 --> 00:13:52.320
The whole India day thing.
00:13:52.320 --> 00:13:53.759
Yeah, I know you guys are not Indian.
00:13:53.759 --> 00:13:55.919
Yeah, I still like so I still like India.
00:13:56.159 --> 00:14:05.360
I mean, to be honorary Indians because of you know, you know, our next door neighbor um by my parents' house is Indian, and he's um bought the house in 2003, they did.
00:14:05.360 --> 00:14:08.639
Known him since then, seen his son grow up and everything.
00:14:08.639 --> 00:14:10.559
And I just like other cultures.
00:14:10.559 --> 00:14:14.799
I like experiencing that and hearing the music and it's it's fun.
00:14:15.200 --> 00:14:22.320
I mean, to be honest, I I really love it because you know it's a partnership between the IECC and the uh the Orlando Magic.
00:14:22.320 --> 00:14:25.120
Yes, it's technically just a regular NBA game.
00:14:25.120 --> 00:14:28.720
They just uh celebrate, I guess, Indian culture on that day.
00:14:28.720 --> 00:14:35.440
So the the what all the changes, the halftime show, the post-game show, all that is, you know, of somebody somebody Indian, right?
00:14:35.440 --> 00:14:44.320
They probably usually for halftime have Indian kids who dance and stuff, and then post-game is some Indian singer, you know, celebrity singer or whatever who comes out and sings.
00:14:44.480 --> 00:14:50.879
Yeah, I did want to say uh the funny story from that particular uh shoot when um I was upstairs looking for y'all.
00:14:50.879 --> 00:14:51.200
Yeah.
00:14:51.200 --> 00:14:54.559
Oh and then and then they were like, oh yeah, we need to get that.
00:14:54.559 --> 00:14:57.600
Y'all were all sitting down, we came from outside, oh yeah, we need to get that.
00:14:57.600 --> 00:15:00.159
I was like, all right, let me go right now.
00:15:00.159 --> 00:15:06.720
I just go to the first elevator I see and said, Hey, I need to be on the floor right now.
00:15:06.720 --> 00:15:10.639
They said, Okay, they pressed some buttons and they skipped every single floor.
00:15:10.639 --> 00:15:12.080
They didn't know who I was.
00:15:12.080 --> 00:15:14.320
I just some random guy just come up and say, I'm gonna go.
00:15:14.320 --> 00:15:17.600
But still, they were like, I'll get you there.
00:15:17.600 --> 00:15:20.159
Yeah, I got on the floor as soon as they finished.
00:15:20.399 --> 00:15:24.480
And I was like, ah that's so good of you to use that power.
00:15:24.480 --> 00:15:27.759
But no, to be honest, it's on on, I'll take a little bit of blame.
00:15:27.759 --> 00:15:32.320
So what happened is, and you know, again, we do this every year, but you know, you it's it's a year later.
00:15:32.320 --> 00:15:34.000
Yes, so what's you don't remember everything.
00:15:34.000 --> 00:15:40.399
So basically, we did we captured the um the pro the pre-game show, essentially, is the the thing again.
00:15:40.399 --> 00:15:44.320
There's too many things happening, but anyway, we you guys were still outside, right?
00:15:44.320 --> 00:15:46.399
I think it was Mario, were you outside too, right?
00:15:46.399 --> 00:15:47.519
It was the two of you, I believe.
00:15:47.519 --> 00:15:48.159
Yes, yeah.
00:15:48.159 --> 00:15:53.440
So the the other three, four of us, either way, however, many of us was there.
00:15:53.440 --> 00:15:56.240
We had gone in uh to get the the pregame.
00:15:56.240 --> 00:15:58.879
You guys were outside finishing on the outside thing.
00:15:58.879 --> 00:16:02.639
So we got the pregame and we're like, awesome, let's go to the buffet.
00:16:02.639 --> 00:16:07.360
You know, we remember so we're like, we're gonna go uh or I say buffet, it's I think in a lounge or whatever.
00:16:07.360 --> 00:16:11.840
We're like, we're gonna go there and eat some nice food and have fun while we know now the game's gonna start.
00:16:11.840 --> 00:16:15.440
Yeah, we completely forgot they gotta do the national anthem next.
00:16:15.440 --> 00:16:17.519
And I'm like, how can I be so silly?
00:16:17.519 --> 00:16:22.399
So you guys are now coming in to essentially just chill until you know halftime or whatever, yeah, right?
00:16:22.399 --> 00:16:24.159
Looking for y'all, yeah, exactly.
00:16:24.159 --> 00:16:26.480
And I'm like, uh national anthem started.
00:16:26.480 --> 00:16:28.320
So I'm like, can anyone please get that?
00:16:28.320 --> 00:16:32.000
Like, we are not gonna make it down, and that's when you were like, no, I I am on it.
00:16:32.000 --> 00:16:35.600
But unfortunately, I mean, you did your best, yes, you weren't able to make it.
00:16:35.600 --> 00:16:41.600
Luckily, we were able to go to IECC to go to Orlando Magic and get some footage of the national anthem.
00:16:41.600 --> 00:16:44.879
Yes, it's just again, these type of oversights happen.
00:16:44.879 --> 00:16:46.399
Again, I think I got overzealous.
00:16:46.399 --> 00:16:51.360
I was just like, I should have, I could have waited five minutes, but again, it wasn't no harm done in the final edit.
00:16:51.360 --> 00:16:54.240
Yeah, but I'm just saying it was kind of a funny situation that you're running.
00:16:55.120 --> 00:16:56.320
They need to go now.
00:16:56.320 --> 00:17:03.679
They got they got they literally like I felt like a superstar, yeah, because they literally just had me go straight down the elevator, skipped everything.
00:17:03.679 --> 00:17:10.880
I get I don't even know if they rated on the head because the person at the next gate was like, Come on, yeah, and I just and I ran straight to the floor and got right there.
00:17:10.960 --> 00:17:14.240
I just said, Hey, I'm at Yeah, and then that's that's so cool.
00:17:14.240 --> 00:17:17.920
I I mean I had your normally I don't have access issues to this either.
00:17:17.920 --> 00:17:20.880
I did for one segment, I don't know, whoever.
00:17:20.880 --> 00:17:25.599
The guy wouldn't let me in on the court, and I'm like, dude, I'm supposed to be here, so I had to like go to someone else.
00:17:25.599 --> 00:17:27.359
He was like, Yeah, yeah, they're supposed to be.
00:17:27.359 --> 00:17:29.440
I was like, it clearly says C on it.
00:17:29.440 --> 00:17:32.000
We can and we're not trying to do go during the game.
00:17:32.000 --> 00:17:39.359
Obviously, I I'm not gonna be unreasonable there, but during the halftime, it's not even I don't I'm pretty sure it's not even televised.
00:17:39.359 --> 00:17:40.799
That's no, I don't think so.
00:17:40.799 --> 00:17:45.839
Yeah, so that's just for the people there, and that's why we're allowed to be in court and get whatever angles we need.
00:17:45.839 --> 00:17:49.440
But yeah, I had some some guy on one of the corners was like, No, you can't be on there.
00:17:49.440 --> 00:17:51.119
I'm like, Yes, I can be.
00:17:51.119 --> 00:17:52.640
That's exactly why they hired me.
00:17:52.640 --> 00:17:55.680
Like, if you don't capture this, then I why am I here anyway?
00:17:55.839 --> 00:17:56.240
Exactly.
00:17:56.400 --> 00:18:04.880
No, but that but that's why I like that gig, because it's like we have certain things we need to capture, but usually in the middle, we have a lot of freedom.
00:18:04.880 --> 00:18:15.039
I mean, there's some segments where they're behind the scenes or whatever, we gotta capture some sound bites, but a lot of it is we can also get to experience and chill and just enjoy while we capture it.
00:18:15.039 --> 00:18:18.240
It's it's not the most financial thing, obviously, it's a partnership.
00:18:18.240 --> 00:18:24.960
Yes, uh, but the advantage uh for me is hey, my name's there, you know, on one of the boards, I guess.
00:18:24.960 --> 00:18:35.119
Yeah, uh, and then the other thing being is that I get to um have that access and just have that fun because it's not like um you know long-term thing, it's just a one-day uh I don't know.
00:18:35.119 --> 00:18:35.839
What do you what do you think?
00:18:36.000 --> 00:18:36.480
Did you have fun?
00:18:36.480 --> 00:18:41.599
Yeah, yeah, I had fun, and I think it's good to be able to bring in people that you don't know because you didn't really know me.
00:18:41.599 --> 00:18:44.960
So it's like, hey, let me bring a look, bring in this guy that he said is good.
00:18:44.960 --> 00:18:46.000
All right, bring me up.
00:18:46.160 --> 00:18:50.079
I mean, to be real, I knew you at that time I hadn't met you at the Yeah, you met me, but you didn't really know.
00:18:50.079 --> 00:18:51.599
Yeah, I never had a chance to get it.
00:18:51.599 --> 00:18:52.880
Some random guy, you know.
00:18:52.880 --> 00:18:53.920
Exactly.
00:18:53.920 --> 00:18:56.160
Uh, but no, I'm so glad I brought you, dude.
00:18:56.160 --> 00:18:56.720
We had so much fun.
00:18:56.720 --> 00:19:02.000
And uh it was so fun actually working with you and getting to know you.
00:19:02.000 --> 00:19:04.319
And I was like, this is awesome, we should do this more often.
00:19:04.319 --> 00:19:07.279
And uh uh, because like I said, the footage you got was great.
00:19:07.279 --> 00:19:12.559
We had fun, like I said, and you use your power correctly to get down because you did need to go down there.
00:19:12.559 --> 00:19:18.559
I mean, it's not your fault, because like I said, by the time we realize they're already singing, it's not like it takes them forever to the national anthem.
00:19:18.559 --> 00:19:19.440
It does not, yeah.
00:19:19.440 --> 00:19:22.640
So it's not like the longest time to uh to get there.
00:19:22.640 --> 00:19:26.480
And uh Kia Center is a maze, essentially.
00:19:26.640 --> 00:19:31.440
Um I don't even I really don't even know how I ended up I ended up right by the right elevator.
00:19:32.000 --> 00:19:33.599
I think I think our issue is the past.
00:19:33.599 --> 00:19:35.519
So normal people, I think they control you.
00:19:35.519 --> 00:19:39.599
Like if you go to an elevator, they'll tell you like you can only get off on this floor or whatever.
00:19:39.599 --> 00:19:43.200
But when you have that core tight access, they essentially just let you go wherever.
00:19:43.200 --> 00:19:43.440
Yeah.
00:19:43.440 --> 00:19:44.720
So I think you can end up.
00:19:45.359 --> 00:19:50.240
Yeah, so the next time I went, um, I got a chance to walk around some more because it was only me.
00:19:50.240 --> 00:19:51.200
I didn't have anybody else.
00:19:51.200 --> 00:19:53.920
I was trying to bring Quentin on that job, didn't quite work out.
00:19:53.920 --> 00:19:55.680
So I'm just walking around the place.
00:19:55.680 --> 00:19:57.200
Actually, no, I had him bring in my wife.
00:19:57.200 --> 00:19:57.440
Okay.
00:19:57.440 --> 00:20:01.359
I said, Well, your budget's not there at this particular time for this thing.
00:20:01.359 --> 00:20:03.440
I said, I bring my wife and have her just hang out.
00:20:03.759 --> 00:20:04.559
They're like, All right.
00:20:04.640 --> 00:20:05.759
They gave her a ticket and everything.
00:20:05.759 --> 00:20:06.240
It was funny.
00:20:06.319 --> 00:20:06.880
Well, that's pretty good.
00:20:06.880 --> 00:20:07.119
Yeah.
00:20:07.359 --> 00:20:09.680
So, but we were walking around.
00:20:09.680 --> 00:20:14.480
I was walking around and let her get in the seat, just trying to figure it out, and I got lost like two, three times.
00:20:14.480 --> 00:20:15.039
Yeah.
00:20:15.039 --> 00:20:21.599
So I don't even know how I ended up getting on the floor that day, but that day, that time, it was just perfect.
00:20:21.599 --> 00:20:22.880
Exactly where I was.
00:20:23.759 --> 00:20:24.160
Yeah.
00:20:24.160 --> 00:20:25.279
That's awesome though.
00:20:25.279 --> 00:20:29.200
Yeah, uh that, you know, and I can say it'll help maybe next time if you remember a little bit.
00:20:29.200 --> 00:20:29.519
Yeah.
00:20:29.519 --> 00:20:31.680
Uh, but that you got together twice and that helped.
00:20:31.680 --> 00:20:34.079
But also, you're uh are you not talking about tickets?
00:20:34.079 --> 00:20:35.839
I remember, yeah, they gave me four tickets too.
00:20:35.839 --> 00:20:39.680
I got to have my kids that day, and then we also invited Natalia and Julie.
00:20:39.680 --> 00:20:41.039
Like they were all there basically.
00:20:41.039 --> 00:20:44.480
I mean, I'm saying it was fun to just have everyone there and just have fun.
00:20:44.480 --> 00:20:47.759
Yeah, um, like I said, it's one of those fun gigs that I get to do.
00:20:47.759 --> 00:20:54.000
It's not a lot, you know, uh, but it's it's it's a good gig, and I'm so glad you you could be part of it.
00:20:54.000 --> 00:21:08.079
And like I said, the main thing I liked was we had a good time, we had fun, we captured good footage, the video came out great, the client's happy, we're happy, and then and like I said, we got to enjoy an NBA game with full side access.
00:21:08.079 --> 00:21:09.839
Yeah, we could essentially be wherever.
00:21:09.839 --> 00:21:15.839
Yeah, I still remember last year, like I was standing somewhere, you know, waiting for the players to exit for halftime.
00:21:15.839 --> 00:21:21.279
But like, I'm just making some social media real or whatever, but people are just going crazy just for a handshake.
00:21:21.279 --> 00:21:24.559
And you know, I'm right next to a player, I could have said hi or whatever.
00:21:24.559 --> 00:21:29.759
I didn't, I'm not a basketball person, but I'm just like, cool, this is just good to be here, you know.
00:21:29.759 --> 00:21:37.119
Like, sure, I'm not like fans of any of these players or whatever, but I mean, I'll play some 2K, but I don't know each player individually, you know what I mean?
00:21:37.119 --> 00:21:40.880
Like, yeah, so I was like, oh, this is pretty cool to be here and have this type of access.
00:21:40.880 --> 00:21:44.960
And I think that's a lot of jobs that make me feel like that, where I'm like, how did I end up here?
00:21:44.960 --> 00:21:45.759
Exactly.
00:21:45.759 --> 00:21:46.559
He's like, how?
00:21:47.039 --> 00:21:51.839
I mean, I um I did one job, it was just off the cuff.
00:21:51.839 --> 00:21:55.200
It was somebody called me and said, Hey, I need you to do a job now.
00:21:55.200 --> 00:21:58.240
This this guy's name is Donnie McClerkin, right?
00:21:58.240 --> 00:22:02.160
So he's a Legend when it comes to gospel music.
00:22:02.160 --> 00:22:02.880
Like legend.
00:22:02.880 --> 00:22:08.960
So I was just called got called up by a friend and said, Hey, I need you to do this job.
00:22:08.960 --> 00:22:09.759
I can't make it.
00:22:09.759 --> 00:22:13.839
I said, Okay, I hooked up with a guy, and he's like, Alright, you're gonna meet with Donnie McClerk.
00:22:13.839 --> 00:22:17.119
And I'm saying, Alright, cool, I'll go to the place and you know, do all the stuff.
00:22:17.119 --> 00:22:19.920
I ended up in his hotel room recording him.
00:22:19.920 --> 00:22:22.400
Just me and him, nobody else.
00:22:22.640 --> 00:22:24.400
Wow, I'm like just for you.
00:22:24.880 --> 00:22:26.160
So I'm like, what is going on?
00:22:26.160 --> 00:22:28.160
Now, you know, of course, you have to act like you've been there before.
00:22:28.160 --> 00:22:29.920
And he knows my pastor and everything.
00:22:29.920 --> 00:22:32.000
So I kind of sparked up that conversation.
00:22:32.000 --> 00:22:33.920
So he knows, hey, okay, cool.
00:22:33.920 --> 00:22:37.440
And we talked about um his church, my church, and there's different things.
00:22:37.440 --> 00:22:38.640
He's from New York.
00:22:38.640 --> 00:22:40.160
And it was just cool.
00:22:40.160 --> 00:22:47.680
Like, I can't believe I'm just in the room sitting here with somebody that used to play his music, singing songs when I was like a teenager.
00:22:47.680 --> 00:22:49.039
It's crazy.
00:22:49.039 --> 00:22:53.279
So, you know, you get in those places and you're just like, Man, like, how did I get here?
00:22:53.279 --> 00:22:54.160
Yeah, how did I get it?
00:22:54.400 --> 00:22:56.319
I mean, that's really awesome that you were able to do that.
00:22:56.319 --> 00:22:58.319
Even the Kia Center one, did you have full access?
00:22:58.319 --> 00:23:00.559
Were you able to go around the thing, right?
00:23:00.559 --> 00:23:01.680
Then do whatever some shit.
00:23:01.920 --> 00:23:05.440
I actually stood on the press box with the other um camera people.
00:23:05.440 --> 00:23:14.880
You know, of course, we can't tape it, yeah, but just sat there and just you know, watched the game from where they are they're recording and doing getting different clips for their um podcasts and stuff.
00:23:14.880 --> 00:23:17.200
And I'm just able to sit there with them.
00:23:17.200 --> 00:23:19.680
I had a few conversations with them, they're nice guys.
00:23:19.680 --> 00:23:25.440
And I mean, literally, if I wanted to, I could have just stayed there the whole time and watched the whole game literally from the floor.
00:23:25.680 --> 00:23:27.200
Wow, that's incredible.
00:23:27.200 --> 00:23:30.000
Yeah, that's I think one of the best things about it.
00:23:30.000 --> 00:23:32.480
Obviously, I love because I want to make videos and stuff.
00:23:32.480 --> 00:23:34.880
Yes, I guess it's a secondary benefit, right?
00:23:34.880 --> 00:23:41.200
Of us doing photo and video, and then next thing you know, you get access to famous singers, famous celebrities.
00:23:41.200 --> 00:23:44.559
Like when I had Fernando, we were talking about um what's his name?
00:23:44.559 --> 00:23:46.960
Oh my goodness, I keep forgetting this guy's name.
00:23:46.960 --> 00:23:51.680
The commercial Miami that we talked with Fernando, what's the singer's name?
00:23:51.680 --> 00:23:52.799
Mark Anthony.
00:23:52.799 --> 00:23:55.359
Oh, yeah, I should just remember that name.
00:23:55.359 --> 00:24:01.359
So we just had this car, same thing, like how we did the commercial, and we had access to this celebrity right next to us.
00:24:01.359 --> 00:24:03.599
And you know, it's just one of those bonus something.
00:24:03.599 --> 00:24:11.599
Not that it affects what we do, we we still do the best to do, but it's nice to have access like that, where you know, you know, it's just nice.
00:24:11.599 --> 00:24:23.359
You know, it is to be able to go to Kia Center, to be able to, you know, uh have full access to whatever the the luxury uh what do you call it, lounges or whatever, uh be able to record content, have courtside access, you know.
00:24:23.359 --> 00:24:27.519
Uh essentially be wherever we also got to go to the press room, I believe, for a little bit, right?
00:24:27.519 --> 00:24:28.079
Yeah, yeah.
00:24:28.319 --> 00:24:37.440
And um, I actually have a um Troy, my other friend, he was like, Man, if you would have told me you were there, I could have talked to my people and got you in the um where they do all the shooting at.
00:24:37.440 --> 00:24:37.759
Yeah.
00:24:37.759 --> 00:24:41.119
Where they actually have the whole big board where they do all the multicam shoots.
00:24:41.119 --> 00:24:42.960
He's like, I could have told you how to get there.
00:24:42.960 --> 00:24:44.960
I'm like, I should have just called you.
00:24:45.359 --> 00:24:45.839
And guess what?
00:24:45.839 --> 00:24:49.519
You shouldn't know the year before Quentin just made it there.
00:24:49.519 --> 00:24:52.720
So we were at Quentin, he said, Yeah, I've been here or whatever, or something like that.
00:24:52.720 --> 00:24:53.920
So I was like, I'll take you.
00:24:53.920 --> 00:24:56.079
And then next thing we know, you know, we're going in the elevator.
00:24:56.079 --> 00:24:58.240
I'm pretty sure we ended up it looked like the control room.
00:24:58.240 --> 00:25:02.480
I'm like, there's no way we're we're supposed to be here, but we were just there.
00:25:02.480 --> 00:25:04.079
So again, nobody stopped.
00:25:04.079 --> 00:25:07.839
The the advantage of at least the past that we have is like nobody stopped us.
00:25:07.839 --> 00:25:12.960
So it's like, oh, where obviously you have to know how to get there because I have no idea how we went, where we went.
00:25:12.960 --> 00:25:14.000
It was pretty high up.
00:25:14.000 --> 00:25:20.960
Uh, but that's pretty cool again, like you said, it's it's just not the most important thing, but it's it's cool to have that access, it's cool to be able to.
00:25:20.960 --> 00:25:23.680
What's I like about that gig is the freedom that I have.
00:25:23.680 --> 00:25:28.400
So I wouldn't normally do if it was just like actually just go, go, go type of gang.
00:25:28.400 --> 00:25:31.839
You know, like I said, I it's a sponsorship, partnership type of thing.
00:25:31.839 --> 00:25:33.759
But I really do really like that.
00:25:33.759 --> 00:25:35.039
They do give me freedom.
00:25:35.039 --> 00:25:40.240
They're like, hey, this is the obviously the requirements, we gotta capture the Indias Day stuff happening there.
00:25:40.240 --> 00:25:46.960
But outside of that, I like I get full freedom, like what coverage I want, where we want to be, what do we want to do, we want to interview.
00:25:46.960 --> 00:25:49.200
It's not like anyone's pressuring me to do anything.
00:25:49.200 --> 00:25:52.000
So it makes the uh the day go by really fast, right?
00:25:52.000 --> 00:25:52.240
Yeah.
00:25:52.240 --> 00:25:54.880
Um, anyway, let's switch to to you.
00:25:54.880 --> 00:25:56.559
I know you also do photography.
00:25:56.559 --> 00:25:58.559
You say you love doing family photography.
00:25:58.559 --> 00:26:01.759
Is there any particular uh uh is that your like your favorite thing to do?
00:26:02.400 --> 00:26:09.039
Um that it's it's fun to do that because I get a chance to like you know talk to families and meet people.
00:26:09.039 --> 00:26:11.759
I mean, I did a I did a family reunion once.
00:26:11.759 --> 00:26:15.359
It was like 50 something, 60 people.
00:26:15.359 --> 00:26:18.000
Yeah, it was it was it was a lot.
00:26:18.000 --> 00:26:19.440
That was pretty fun.
00:26:19.440 --> 00:26:23.440
Um, you have to know how to be assertive and nice at the same time.
00:26:23.440 --> 00:26:24.720
Yeah, because nobody's listening to you.
00:26:24.960 --> 00:26:26.640
Yeah, because that's a lot, that's a big family.
00:26:27.200 --> 00:26:28.240
It's a big family.
00:26:28.240 --> 00:26:34.559
Um, but I want to get more to small businesses, being able to help people out and you know, grow their business and grow with them.
00:26:35.200 --> 00:26:35.519
Exactly.
00:26:35.519 --> 00:26:43.119
And that's a good uh partnership to have with Quintin because you know his primary thing is trying to go to businesses and things like that.
00:26:43.119 --> 00:26:45.119
So I think you guys can that's what I'm saying.
00:26:45.119 --> 00:26:49.279
It's a good good person to have a studio partnership with.
00:26:49.279 --> 00:26:54.400
Um now, uh, have you decided like uh how you're gonna promote the studio and thing?
00:26:54.400 --> 00:27:00.319
I know last time I checked, he was still trying to get things kind of going, you know, getting finalized or whatever.
00:27:00.640 --> 00:27:01.519
Quinn, this is for you.
00:27:01.519 --> 00:27:06.640
So, you know, my life my life is um busy, especially towards the end of the school year.
00:27:06.640 --> 00:27:32.160
So I was really, really hands-on in the beginning, January, February, and then you know, end of school year, you know, when you own a business, there's all kinds of stuff you have to fill out because I was I'm running the school, I'm principal, I'm doing the grades, I'm teaching gymnastics season because my son's in gymnastics is that same around that same time um he and he went to um nationals this year, so like every other weekend.
00:27:32.160 --> 00:27:33.039
Thank you.
00:27:33.039 --> 00:27:42.559
So every other weekend I'm out of town, or I'm doing this, I'm doing that, and I I I I wasn't going ghost from the business, it was just I had no time.
00:27:42.720 --> 00:27:43.039
Yeah.
00:27:43.279 --> 00:27:54.240
And this is the time, you know, this was a very pivotal moment in his in his gymnastics career, getting up to the next level with um, it's called optionals, where they get to do some of the fancier things.
00:27:54.240 --> 00:28:00.880
So it's like this was the last year of him doing where he had to do certain routines, and it was a hard, hard routines, too.
00:28:00.880 --> 00:28:05.839
So I'm I'm back more more or less full force trying to go at it.
00:28:05.839 --> 00:28:16.400
So we've been trying to make content, um, get people in the studio to film content, and um I'm trying to convince Quentin to do his uh his podcast and everything.
00:28:16.400 --> 00:28:17.359
I need to do it.
00:28:17.359 --> 00:28:18.640
I mean, you guys have a space now, right?
00:28:18.640 --> 00:28:19.839
Yeah, we have to space ready to go.
00:28:19.839 --> 00:28:26.640
So it's it's just getting him to do it, getting me to do it, you know, and we're used to being behind the camera and in front of the camera.
00:28:26.640 --> 00:28:28.640
Like, you know, yeah, this is tough.
00:28:28.720 --> 00:28:29.039
I get it.
00:28:29.279 --> 00:28:34.640
It's it's tough, you know, and sometimes you have to put yourself out there in order to get your business out.
00:28:34.640 --> 00:28:37.039
So now it's time to get us out there.
00:28:37.039 --> 00:28:37.599
Yeah.
00:28:37.839 --> 00:28:43.599
Yeah, because uh initially, like I said, like you said, these months have been mostly getting the space ready, right?
00:28:43.599 --> 00:29:02.559
Because not only, as far as I know, Quinton was uh like and you you like you say you've been running the school, doing your photography, he's also running, you know, his jobs, and then at the same time, anytime you find time, like he was telling me he was there late nights, you know, trying to paint, get the the seamless up or whatever, you know, getting the control room ready.
00:29:02.559 --> 00:29:03.839
And it's come a long way.
00:29:03.839 --> 00:29:08.480
I remember being there initially, and I was like, wow, this looks like a lot of work.
00:29:08.480 --> 00:29:17.279
And then I was there recently when I rented the his FX6, and I was like, wow, this come like this looks like the podcast rooms, like an actual podcast room.
00:29:17.279 --> 00:29:18.640
There's actually cameras.
00:29:18.640 --> 00:29:22.640
I have no idea where you're acquiring so much money because there's so much gear here.
00:29:22.640 --> 00:29:26.079
Because you know, there was like so many, I know, and his obsession black magic.
00:29:26.079 --> 00:29:30.640
The amount of black magic cameras that you guys uh have now in that studio is crazy.
00:29:31.039 --> 00:29:34.640
Yes, so one cool thing about black magic cameras to get on gear a little bit.
00:29:34.640 --> 00:29:38.319
Oh, he's got to you too, okay, is well when you're okay.
00:29:38.319 --> 00:29:42.720
So right now, you know, you're using the using um zona cameras, right?
00:29:42.720 --> 00:29:43.200
Uh-huh.
00:29:43.200 --> 00:29:48.319
So with using black magic cameras through the ATEM, you can camera control a lot of things.
00:29:48.319 --> 00:29:53.359
So it makes it so now, hey, instead of walking to the camera, you can just do it from there.
00:29:53.359 --> 00:29:55.279
Just get a log on your computer and do all the stuff.
00:29:55.279 --> 00:29:57.119
So and it puts out a great image.
00:29:57.119 --> 00:30:05.279
Now, I did my first shoot using the 6Ks, um, and oh my goodness, the footage is massive.
00:30:05.279 --> 00:30:06.000
Yes.
00:30:06.000 --> 00:30:07.920
Well, actually, it's my second one.
00:30:07.920 --> 00:30:11.759
One of them I did, it was almost a terabyte of data.
00:30:12.079 --> 00:30:13.039
What were you recording in?
00:30:13.039 --> 00:30:14.880
Were you recording B-Raw or something different?
00:30:15.119 --> 00:30:16.400
B-Raw, the first one.
00:30:16.400 --> 00:30:21.519
I it wasn't my camera, it was another person's camera, and we were shooting a like a gospel concert.
00:30:21.519 --> 00:30:23.519
And that was the catch-all camera.
00:30:23.519 --> 00:30:26.880
He didn't fully set it up right now that I know a little bit more about it.
00:30:26.880 --> 00:30:30.720
Wait, B-Raw, I don't know what codec he used.
00:30:30.720 --> 00:30:32.960
And I said, okay, give me the footage.
00:30:32.960 --> 00:30:33.759
I'm gonna take it back.
00:30:33.759 --> 00:30:36.400
I was editing it, and I dumped that footage.
00:30:36.400 --> 00:30:41.119
I was like, oh man, I need another hard drive just to keep this footage.
00:30:41.119 --> 00:30:42.960
It was 900 and something gigs.
00:30:43.119 --> 00:30:45.599
Wow, that's a lot of yeah, and 800 and something gigs.
00:30:45.599 --> 00:30:48.000
Yeah, and it depends on the con uh the compression.
00:30:48.000 --> 00:30:53.200
So I think you can select obviously different compressions for 12 to 1 is probably the best one.
00:30:53.200 --> 00:30:54.559
Probably uh the the most one.
00:30:54.559 --> 00:30:59.440
And obviously, the more compressed it is, I'm sure it's harder on the computer or whatever to edit.
00:30:59.440 --> 00:31:02.400
But then it gives you more, you know, reasonable file sizes.
00:31:02.400 --> 00:31:03.839
And that's my entire thing.
00:31:03.839 --> 00:31:08.480
You know, raw is amazing, but it does take a lot of data, yeah.
00:31:08.480 --> 00:31:08.799
Exactly.
00:31:08.799 --> 00:31:09.680
It has its place.
00:31:09.680 --> 00:31:16.000
Yeah, if you need it, then absolutely, but then you are gonna deal with the data, the extra workflow and stuff like that.
00:31:16.000 --> 00:31:18.000
Do you do you do resolve for editing?
00:31:18.000 --> 00:31:18.319
No.
00:31:18.799 --> 00:31:32.240
No, so you gotta even have Yeah, so that first shoot, and it was around Thanksgiving, so we went to um we went to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's house in New Jersey, yes.
00:31:32.240 --> 00:31:35.519
So I'm sitting at the table while they're, you know, like sleep.
00:31:35.519 --> 00:31:41.519
My brother's he's in his doctoral to pro program, and he's studying, and I'm over there editing footage.
00:31:42.799 --> 00:31:43.680
Why were you using Premier?
00:31:43.920 --> 00:31:49.599
I was using Premiere at the kitchen table, and he's in the room doing his homework because that's crazy.
00:31:49.839 --> 00:31:52.960
Were you at least using uh M1 style computers so it was faster?
00:31:53.440 --> 00:31:56.960
Also, I have an M1, but um it actually doesn't edit too bad.
00:31:56.960 --> 00:32:04.960
It's just getting over the fact of learning how to take that footage and put it in there and you know using LUTs and all that, getting it transferred over.
00:32:05.200 --> 00:32:08.079
Yeah, and actually being able to take advantage of Raw.
00:32:08.079 --> 00:32:10.400
I've heard again, I'm not an expert on it.
00:32:10.559 --> 00:32:12.000
They had just created a plug-in for it.
00:32:12.240 --> 00:32:20.319
Yeah, because you want to make sure that's actually changing RAW, not just manipulating whatever you have in there because then you lose the purpose of RAW, right?
00:32:20.400 --> 00:32:25.519
Yeah, so but um yeah, I was like, okay, I need to learn this a little bit more.
00:32:25.519 --> 00:32:34.880
Then I started that after that, then I got hooked up more with Quentin and I did a shoot with somebody and it was a couple minutes and it was like 200 gigs.
00:32:35.519 --> 00:32:39.119
Yeah, I mean, hey, there's nothing wrong with black magic cameras, they're amazing.
00:32:39.119 --> 00:32:41.519
Yes, but yeah, he's uh some extra obsessed.
00:32:41.519 --> 00:32:45.759
Like every time I go there, I'm like, there's more cameras, and they're all black magic cameras cameras, right?
00:32:45.759 --> 00:32:46.400
Yeah, exactly.
00:32:46.400 --> 00:32:49.440
That's uh and I'm pretty sure you go another month, it'll be 10.
00:32:49.440 --> 00:32:52.799
I've at least that's what it feels like to me.
00:32:52.799 --> 00:32:55.440
Uh but again, that that works for him, you know.
00:32:55.440 --> 00:32:56.319
That's his workflow.
00:32:56.319 --> 00:32:59.279
I mean, I know he finally added a Sony camera because he's an FX6.
00:32:59.759 --> 00:33:01.039
Yes, he added that last year.
00:33:01.039 --> 00:33:03.599
Now I use Sony, I've been using Sony for a while.
00:33:03.599 --> 00:33:06.880
I bought an uh A7 III, that was my first camera.
00:33:06.880 --> 00:33:07.920
Well, second camera.
00:33:07.920 --> 00:33:09.039
I was Nikon before.
00:33:09.039 --> 00:33:09.359
Okay.
00:33:09.359 --> 00:33:12.160
Um, so I got an A73 and an A74.
00:33:12.160 --> 00:33:13.279
I like them.
00:33:13.279 --> 00:33:18.480
And now it's just then we got a deal on the um Black Magic 6K pros for the studio.
00:33:18.480 --> 00:33:22.400
Now I'm like, okay, what do I want to go to next for my kit?
00:33:22.400 --> 00:33:22.799
Yeah.
00:33:22.799 --> 00:33:23.599
So I don't know.
00:33:23.680 --> 00:33:26.319
I'm looking at the A74s is a pretty good camera.
00:33:26.319 --> 00:33:29.759
Yeah, FXC could be a good add-on to it too for video, you know.
00:33:29.759 --> 00:33:30.160
Yes.
00:33:30.160 --> 00:33:33.759
Yeah, because you you uh I don't know if FXC would be good for just photos.
00:33:33.759 --> 00:33:35.920
I'd be like, No, no, I wouldn't use it for photos at all.
00:33:35.920 --> 00:33:41.039
So I'm like, so it may be good to uh add an FX3 or FX30 to it or something like that.
00:33:41.039 --> 00:33:47.759
Yeah, so which as we were looking, Sony has increased prices on camera, so yeah, bad time to be thinking about buying cameras.
00:33:47.759 --> 00:33:55.200
Yeah, but you know, as you uh you would think used market wouldn't affect from that, but yes, you know, people are gonna jack up their sale prices.
00:33:55.519 --> 00:34:05.119
Yeah, it's it is what it is, but um I'm I'm not in the market yet for it, but I know most likely an FX3 or FX6 is probably my next go.
00:34:05.119 --> 00:34:15.199
But hearing um in the group chat that we have with the other filmmakers, and I think the FX3 might be the first place for me to go because then my A7 IV is the sec is the B Cam.
00:34:15.199 --> 00:34:22.239
And then when I shoot photography, A74 transfers over to my A CAM, and then my you know, so exactly.
00:34:22.320 --> 00:34:26.159
Plus, the other thing, the advantage you would have is uh Quentin has an FX6.
00:34:26.159 --> 00:34:26.400
Yeah.
00:34:26.400 --> 00:34:29.280
So if you needed it, you don't have to go far to grab an FX6.
00:34:29.280 --> 00:34:29.679
Exactly.
00:34:29.679 --> 00:34:35.599
And it has its uses, like I said, we use it, we create great created great images from his FX6.
00:34:35.599 --> 00:34:37.760
We had two of mine and one of his there.
00:34:37.760 --> 00:34:42.960
And uh I really like FX6, like I said, it creates a really nice uh like I said, footage.
00:34:42.960 --> 00:34:53.360
The roll-off is nice, uh the photo, uh the uh the video's detailed, the load it is nice, but again, if you're doing corporate stuff, then FX3 can work too.
00:34:53.360 --> 00:34:55.039
It's not like that important too.
00:34:55.440 --> 00:34:57.519
Build it up a little bit just to make it look beefy.
00:34:57.840 --> 00:35:00.320
Yeah, you add an indie filter, you know, functionality.
00:35:00.320 --> 00:35:04.159
It's not 100% the same, but most corporate people wouldn't notice.
00:35:04.159 --> 00:35:07.119
Now, if you're trying to fit in other people's workflow, that can be nice.
00:35:07.119 --> 00:35:12.559
For example, like right here, I had two FX6s, so it made more sense to have an FX3 to match.
00:35:12.559 --> 00:35:13.199
Exactly.
00:35:13.199 --> 00:35:18.079
Uh, but so I guess there's users for both, and again, if you have access to both, that'd be the key.
00:35:18.079 --> 00:35:18.320
Yes.
00:35:18.320 --> 00:35:22.800
And I know he doesn't have an FX3, so that may make more sense for you to have an FX6.
00:35:22.960 --> 00:35:25.599
And that's why that's one of the reasons why I was thinking about it as well.
00:35:25.599 --> 00:35:28.159
It's like you have FX6, I have FX3.
00:35:28.159 --> 00:35:30.559
When you take both of them out, boom, we have both.
00:35:30.559 --> 00:35:34.239
Instead of you having to buy everything, because you know he has 50 million cameras.
00:35:34.480 --> 00:35:42.800
Yeah, I talk about just cameras, racks and racks and so you know, not that many people can what do you call give me a run?
00:35:42.800 --> 00:35:46.000
Because I feel like I have most more than anyone in Florida.
00:35:46.000 --> 00:35:48.320
But Quentin comes close, is what I'm saying.
00:35:48.320 --> 00:35:50.159
Yeah, yeah, he yep.
00:35:50.159 --> 00:35:51.199
Um, yep.
00:35:51.199 --> 00:35:55.760
It's a lot of cut man, and stuff that's kind of specialty live stream.
00:35:55.760 --> 00:36:01.519
So, you know, I do like a lot of live streaming too, this decent chunk of money for us, but I do more corporate stuff.
00:36:01.519 --> 00:36:04.400
I think he's uh but he's a go-to guy for me.
00:36:04.400 --> 00:36:09.519
Anytime I'm thinking of coding for a project for a bigger stream than what I would normally handle.
00:36:09.519 --> 00:36:10.800
Uh, he's a good partner.
00:36:10.800 --> 00:36:15.119
I always think of him like, oh, if I need racks and racks of equipment, who am I gonna call?
00:36:15.119 --> 00:36:15.920
Oh, Quentin.
00:36:16.079 --> 00:36:18.320
Yeah, I mean the stuff adds up really quick.
00:36:18.320 --> 00:36:22.480
Um at my church, we have an A10 mini um extreme.
00:36:22.480 --> 00:36:22.719
Yeah.
00:36:22.719 --> 00:36:26.000
ISO, so that's eight cameras, and you know, eight inputs.
00:36:26.159 --> 00:36:30.880
You think that's a lot, it is nothing, as soon as you outputs, because it only gives you two outputs.
00:36:30.880 --> 00:36:32.000
It only gives you two outputs.
00:36:32.159 --> 00:36:44.239
But even besides that, once you add in uh a presenter rig, a pro presenter rig, and if you really want to do it the right way with lower thirds coming out of it and everything, that's that could be four outputs right there.
00:36:44.239 --> 00:36:45.679
So, like that's half of it.
00:36:45.840 --> 00:36:46.400
Yeah, exactly.
00:36:46.400 --> 00:36:50.159
And those are HDMIs if you want STI, but that doesn't work.
00:36:50.159 --> 00:36:52.639
So now you're adding a constellation to your kit.
00:36:52.639 --> 00:36:54.400
Yeah, anyway, yeah.
00:36:54.400 --> 00:36:56.880
Then you need a video hub, then you're adding that.
00:36:56.880 --> 00:36:59.599
Yeah, you need to do green screen, you're adding an ultimat.
00:36:59.599 --> 00:37:04.239
Hey, I mean, people listening to this, if you have no idea what we're talking about, please do not research.
00:37:04.239 --> 00:37:06.320
You will you will be broke very fast.
00:37:06.320 --> 00:37:08.960
So we just got an Ultimat, too, because we went to Infocom.
00:37:09.119 --> 00:37:13.920
We've been thinking about doing more green screen work, and of course, the ATMs can do green screen work, yeah.
00:37:14.159 --> 00:37:16.320
Very limited, but yeah, it's not at that high quality.
00:37:16.320 --> 00:37:19.039
Ultimat, it's a different level of green screen work, yeah.
00:37:19.360 --> 00:37:24.000
Right before we came here, we were working on it, and it's just it's it's it's amazing.
00:37:24.239 --> 00:37:24.559
Yeah.
00:37:24.559 --> 00:37:30.719
See, uh again, if you're doing basic news style stuff, low-end green screen, then 80 is fine.
00:37:30.719 --> 00:37:33.599
I like the built-in, you know, chroma key stuff that it has.
00:37:33.599 --> 00:37:39.599
But Ultimat is like actually usable stuff or like higher end stuff.
00:37:39.599 --> 00:37:44.800
Like, I wouldn't mind it keying live for I mean, I uh a decent size video is what I'm saying.
00:37:44.800 --> 00:37:51.679
It's it's very clean, like it's like re-spending time on an NLE trying to clean up the is it yeah, the Mac.
00:37:52.000 --> 00:37:54.880
Uh first day I brought it, I got it off eBay, you know.
00:37:54.880 --> 00:37:57.840
Gotta get the use price, get the deal to try it out.
00:37:57.840 --> 00:38:01.199
And then um went to the studio, just hooked it up real quick and did it.
00:38:01.199 --> 00:38:06.400
I was like, wow, I didn't even really change too many settings on it, and it looks amazing.
00:38:06.400 --> 00:38:11.039
And it took us hours to get it to look similar to this on the ATEM.
00:38:11.039 --> 00:38:14.079
I don't even want to go back, I don't even want to use the ATM anymore for green screen.
00:38:14.400 --> 00:38:17.440
No, and once you play with this, I'm pretty sure you can get like again.
00:38:17.440 --> 00:38:22.960
The thing about green screen is as you know, it's those you know, random hairs that are flowing away, right?
00:38:22.960 --> 00:38:24.719
It's the detail that gets lost.
00:38:24.719 --> 00:38:30.960
And I think Ultimat, obviously, once you play with it, can get those back without having to spend hours, you know, keying, masking, whatever.
00:38:31.199 --> 00:38:42.239
If you brought it in here right now, had a green screen, and pressed this um did it or his own settings on it, it would look probably 80, 80, 75, 80% there.
00:38:42.559 --> 00:38:44.079
Look at that, and that's really good.
00:38:44.079 --> 00:38:46.639
For me, if if you're shooting me, you wouldn't need to do anything else.
00:38:46.639 --> 00:38:47.280
Probably not, yeah.
00:38:47.360 --> 00:39:01.840
It's only the little bit of you know editing, you know, a little bit of this and that, and but once you really get into it, which we're gonna be getting into in the next couple weeks, um, it's oh man, when we went to the show, they had a lady with uh we went to Infocom.
00:39:01.840 --> 00:39:04.079
They had a lady with bleach blonde hair.
00:39:04.079 --> 00:39:04.320
Yeah.
00:39:04.320 --> 00:39:05.119
She's going like this.
00:39:05.119 --> 00:39:05.599
Yeah.
00:39:05.599 --> 00:39:09.760
And when I tell you, like it, there was no fraying on it.
00:39:09.760 --> 00:39:11.440
And it was just amazing.
00:39:11.519 --> 00:39:13.039
I was like, absolutely cool.
00:39:13.039 --> 00:39:13.519
How was that?
00:39:13.519 --> 00:39:15.199
How how was attending Infocom?
00:39:15.760 --> 00:39:17.119
It was it was great.
00:39:17.119 --> 00:39:18.800
Um, it was great.
00:39:18.800 --> 00:39:19.679
I had a lot of fun.
00:39:19.679 --> 00:39:21.360
That was my first time going to one of those.
00:39:21.360 --> 00:39:25.119
One for technology and uh video technology.
00:39:25.119 --> 00:39:39.360
So got a chance to see a lot of stuff that uh never seen before and things that I've seen online, and you know, I I do dabble in audio as well, so I got to see some of the um audio consoles that I've like, you know, probably will never touch again.
00:39:39.360 --> 00:39:41.280
Yeah, and then you just get to touch it and play with it.
00:39:41.280 --> 00:39:43.440
Yeah, like you know, oh, this is a hundred thousand dollar.
00:39:43.920 --> 00:39:47.199
Yes, and you can just mess with it because they want you to, you know, exactly.
00:39:47.840 --> 00:39:51.280
So yeah, I got to mess with a Digico, uh Digico.
00:39:51.280 --> 00:39:53.679
Yeah, those things are they're crazy.
00:39:53.679 --> 00:39:56.079
I was like, yeah, never mind.
00:39:56.480 --> 00:39:57.440
What made you get out of that?
00:39:57.440 --> 00:39:59.840
So you're you're saying you've left music totally behind?
00:40:00.159 --> 00:40:03.360
Well um, doing music, I still play the piano.
00:40:03.360 --> 00:40:04.800
Um, I still sing some.
00:40:04.800 --> 00:40:13.679
I'm kind of like a backup musician, but uh, and the musicians at my church kind of ask me, Hey, hey, we just need to get you for a Sunday every once in a while to come play.
00:40:13.679 --> 00:40:18.400
I'm like, that's cool, but y'all gotta learn music and the music, yeah.
00:40:18.400 --> 00:40:19.199
I have to learn it.
00:40:19.199 --> 00:40:20.000
I have to practice.
00:40:20.000 --> 00:40:20.880
I don't have to.
00:40:20.880 --> 00:40:29.840
I mean, yes, you do have to practice and work on your craft when it comes to video, but I don't have to sit home and make sure that it's this exact way to make it for the show.
00:40:29.840 --> 00:40:33.679
And if I mess up at the show Then yeah, he'll he'll ruin it.
00:40:33.679 --> 00:40:40.880
Oh man, I went to verse two instead of verse one, and it's totally different chords, and I still I still love music.
00:40:40.880 --> 00:40:48.079
It's yeah, I'm always gonna love it, and I'm always gonna, you know, do it, but um, I didn't uh it's weird.
00:40:48.079 --> 00:40:50.079
I don't miss it as much as I thought I would.
00:40:50.400 --> 00:40:55.360
And that's when you know that you know video or photo may be the more passionate thing for you.
00:40:55.360 --> 00:41:00.239
And you know what's crazy for me, I'm envious of people who can do music because I have no music in me.
00:41:00.239 --> 00:41:02.239
I can tell you the music works for a video.
00:41:02.239 --> 00:41:03.760
That's my limit of it.
00:41:03.760 --> 00:41:06.800
I'm like, I I have no beat in me, quite literally.
00:41:06.800 --> 00:41:13.440
And I'm like, and this is so funny because I can I can take a video apart, I know exactly when the cut should be or if it's off timed or whatever.
00:41:13.440 --> 00:41:14.320
I'm fine with that.
00:41:14.320 --> 00:41:17.199
Like, but talk about music, I'm like, I don't know.
00:41:17.199 --> 00:41:22.639
I think that's what um I was born with what what's the word for it when you're tone deaf?
00:41:22.639 --> 00:41:23.360
Yeah, I'm tone.
00:41:25.039 --> 00:41:31.840
I have some good friends that are tone deaf with singing, but they know music better than a lot of musicians I know.
00:41:31.840 --> 00:41:34.079
They know the person who sings, they didn't know all the words.
00:41:34.079 --> 00:41:38.320
You kind of want them to teach them all that stuff and just say, just don't sing it.
00:41:38.480 --> 00:41:39.039
Yeah, exactly.
00:41:39.039 --> 00:41:41.519
Maybe that's who I am, because I do know about music.
00:41:41.599 --> 00:41:46.000
I'm just yeah, I am like I'm I'm I don't remember names, I don't remember lyrics anymore.
00:41:46.000 --> 00:41:46.880
It's crazy.
00:41:46.880 --> 00:41:49.679
I it's it's it's like who sang that song?
00:41:49.679 --> 00:41:50.639
I know how it goes.
00:41:50.800 --> 00:41:54.000
Yeah, you would probably sing it, you know, for the little bit of practice.
00:41:54.239 --> 00:41:54.719
Exactly.
00:41:54.719 --> 00:41:57.920
So, but you know, I still like doing sound.
00:41:57.920 --> 00:42:09.519
Um, but it I mean it helped me out a lot during church because I was able to do almost every position when it comes to I I let praise and worship for for a while.
00:42:09.519 --> 00:42:11.760
Um played the piano.
00:42:11.760 --> 00:42:16.480
Um I started I was starting to learn other instruments, but that kind of went away.
00:42:16.480 --> 00:42:21.360
And then um I could hop on at any point in time and at least do a little something.
00:42:21.360 --> 00:42:25.119
Musicians late because it's raining or a car accident in front of them.
00:42:25.440 --> 00:42:25.760
Oh, right.
00:42:25.760 --> 00:42:26.800
I'll hop on real quick.
00:42:26.800 --> 00:42:28.880
Yeah, you'll play some some stuff, right?
00:42:28.880 --> 00:42:29.440
Exactly.
00:42:29.440 --> 00:42:30.639
That's that's pretty cool.
00:42:30.639 --> 00:42:36.800
I mean, like I say, it's good to be versatile, and it's good that you did that, which led you to where you are now and what you're doing.
00:42:36.800 --> 00:42:38.880
Like I said, I think you guys are doing great things.
00:42:38.880 --> 00:42:43.280
Obviously, I feel like you're spending a lot of money, but that's what you gotta do.
00:42:43.280 --> 00:42:44.639
You gotta invest to get it back.
00:42:44.639 --> 00:42:52.559
Because you know, you guys built the studio, like you say, you bought an Ultimat, uh, and obviously Quentin's always acquiring equipment, a lot of black magic cameras.
00:42:52.559 --> 00:42:53.440
It looks good though.
00:42:53.440 --> 00:42:56.880
I like the idea that, for example, with podcasts, right?
00:42:56.880 --> 00:42:59.280
Like when we offer podcasts, we do custom, right?
00:42:59.280 --> 00:43:02.320
We'll get a nice Airbnb or whatever location for them.
00:43:02.320 --> 00:43:04.400
We'll set it up, but that's a one-time thing.
00:43:04.400 --> 00:43:06.320
Yes, when we're done, we gotta rip it up art.
00:43:06.320 --> 00:43:09.119
So it's a lot of setup time, a lot of breakdown time.
00:43:09.119 --> 00:43:15.360
But it's really good to have a space where you're like, hey, this is the set, cameras are ready, you go, it's already attached to control room.
00:43:15.360 --> 00:43:17.920
Like you said, it already controls with the ATEM.
00:43:17.920 --> 00:43:21.280
So you sit down, we can start, we can cut right there and then.
00:43:21.280 --> 00:43:22.639
Here's your file, all right?
00:43:22.639 --> 00:43:24.960
You could probably even upload it for them from there on.
00:43:24.960 --> 00:43:27.840
Yeah, uh, it makes it easy for the client, right?
00:43:27.840 --> 00:43:29.760
Because you're like, what do we have to do?
00:43:29.760 --> 00:43:30.320
Nothing.
00:43:30.320 --> 00:43:34.159
And I'm sure it's easy on both of your sides because like what do you have to do?
00:43:34.159 --> 00:43:34.639
Nothing.
00:43:34.639 --> 00:43:35.519
Because it's already there.
00:43:35.519 --> 00:43:37.840
I mean, I guess you have to execute it when they sit down.
00:43:37.840 --> 00:43:43.440
Yes, but you there's no setup time, there's no teardown time, there's no figuring it out because it's already been figured out once.
00:43:43.840 --> 00:43:48.079
Yeah, I mean, there's a little bit of setup time 'cause sometimes people want to, you know, sit like this.
00:43:48.079 --> 00:43:54.239
They might want to sit in tall boys, so little stuff here and there, but you know, figuring out how dare they be tall.
00:43:54.880 --> 00:43:55.199
Yeah.
00:43:55.199 --> 00:43:56.000
Anyway.
00:43:56.000 --> 00:43:56.320
Yeah.
00:43:56.559 --> 00:44:01.039
So but figuring, you know, is it it is fairly Simple, yeah.
00:44:01.039 --> 00:44:02.559
What we're trying to do.
00:44:02.559 --> 00:44:20.719
And I think you know, once we get this started and get it going, you know, the other side, we're probably gonna be moving over there soon and possibly building out another set just to have some options and then you know, it's it I think it fits a lot of people, it's just finding those people that are ready.
00:44:20.960 --> 00:44:21.280
Yeah.
00:44:21.280 --> 00:44:22.800
What about the school then?
00:44:22.800 --> 00:44:26.639
If you start taking over the other side too, because obviously you have one side, right?
00:44:26.639 --> 00:44:28.320
And you have the school on the other side.
00:44:28.320 --> 00:44:31.119
So are you gonna move school somewhere or what we leave at school?
00:44:31.519 --> 00:44:37.360
So a little back history, my mother started at daycare when I was in elementary middle school.
00:44:37.519 --> 00:44:37.840
Okay.
00:44:38.079 --> 00:44:43.519
So she used to take care of old people when we're in California, then she moved here and started taking care of kids.
00:44:43.519 --> 00:44:47.280
So she had that going and then she bought a building.
00:44:47.280 --> 00:44:48.880
So that building is still there.
00:44:48.880 --> 00:44:57.599
It's just we grew out of that building, and you know, through you know, the C-word, we kind of had to restrict it back down and kind of took a lot of students away.
00:44:57.599 --> 00:45:01.280
Some graduated and we couldn't go out and recruit like we used to recruit.
00:45:01.280 --> 00:45:08.639
We used to you know, oh man, my mom used to be out there every other weekend recruiting, but a lot of the live stuff that happened in person went away.
00:45:08.639 --> 00:45:11.920
Florida virtual school, a lot of kids started doing that as well.
00:45:12.159 --> 00:45:14.239
Yeah, I think that time was just a reset for everything.
00:45:14.239 --> 00:45:14.880
Yeah, right.
00:45:15.119 --> 00:45:21.599
So and interestingly enough, one of our teachers on toward the last semester, she moved to Tanzania in Africa.
00:45:21.599 --> 00:45:26.800
So she was teaching our kids, my son actually from Tanzania, because she's like she could do it remotely.
00:45:26.800 --> 00:45:28.000
So it was kind of cool.
00:45:28.000 --> 00:45:31.760
So we still actually have another building to work in.
00:45:31.760 --> 00:45:32.000
Okay.
00:45:32.000 --> 00:45:35.679
So now everything is moving back there to kind of rebuild that.
00:45:36.000 --> 00:45:38.239
So that's where the school's gonna then run out of.
00:45:38.239 --> 00:45:39.199
Makes sense.
00:45:39.199 --> 00:45:42.880
Uh, and then this area, this location's gonna be just a studio, right?
00:45:43.039 --> 00:45:43.920
Yeah, just a studio.
00:45:43.920 --> 00:45:47.119
We're gonna be probably renting it out for some other things as well on the other side.
00:45:47.119 --> 00:45:47.599
Yeah.
00:45:47.599 --> 00:45:50.000
But you know, it's uh it's it's an undertaking.
00:45:50.159 --> 00:45:51.119
Yeah, it's it's a lot.
00:45:51.119 --> 00:45:55.280
Like I said, uh uh just the little that I watch you guys do, it's a lot.
00:45:55.280 --> 00:45:59.039
And I was like, because I know what how much what it took to make this space happen, right?
00:45:59.039 --> 00:46:03.760
And this is just uh, like I said, just a garage that I made into a studio and and it's beautiful, yeah.
00:46:03.760 --> 00:46:04.239
Well, thank you.
00:46:04.239 --> 00:46:10.719
But yeah, I mean at the end of the day, yeah, just doing like I said, all we did was floor, some paint, some panels, you know, air conditioning, insulating.
00:46:10.719 --> 00:46:17.760
You know, it's it's not the I'm saying a lot of construction, yeah, but just like yours, it was it sounds like oh, just they painted it, put some scene.
00:46:17.760 --> 00:46:24.159
No, it's when you think about yeah, how much you you actually put in and it it's a it's a lot, it takes a lot of time.
00:46:24.159 --> 00:46:27.840
Like we were, like I said, hands and knees, and plus continue to run a business.
00:46:27.840 --> 00:46:39.840
Because like I said, I I was like I said, going to shoots, coming back, you know, hammer this, hammer that, and then you know, plus learning, because I'm like I'm not a construction worker, so it's like, oh, what's the best way to mount these?
00:46:39.840 --> 00:46:43.679
Oh, uh, you know, how do we how do we hide the nails, for example, right?
00:46:43.679 --> 00:46:46.400
Oh, we gotta figure it out and everything, you know, it's a step.
00:46:46.400 --> 00:46:47.280
It's a step.
00:46:47.280 --> 00:46:50.480
And then uh yeah, but uh ultimately, like I said, I love the result.
00:46:50.480 --> 00:46:55.760
Now that it's been done, we've been using it uh for what I wanted to get out of the space.
00:46:55.760 --> 00:46:56.800
This is perfect.
00:46:56.800 --> 00:46:58.559
And like I said, already look at that.
00:46:58.559 --> 00:47:01.280
We're having this conversation right here because we built this space.
00:47:01.519 --> 00:47:03.039
Sometimes I hey, what did they say?
00:47:03.039 --> 00:47:04.000
If you build it, they will come.
00:47:04.159 --> 00:47:04.639
Yeah, there you go.
00:47:04.639 --> 00:47:05.119
I built it.
00:47:06.239 --> 00:47:08.159
Yep, or if you build it, you will use it.
00:47:08.400 --> 00:47:11.760
Yeah, I will yeah, because this is more like yeah, obviously, our hangout space.
00:47:11.760 --> 00:47:13.039
I don't get clients here or anything.
00:47:13.039 --> 00:47:18.719
I mean, we did do one shoot here and it went incredible, but that's not the goal, obviously, this dislocation.
00:47:18.719 --> 00:47:27.199
This was just place to house gear, place to have a workspace, place to do the podcast, you know, or maybe some YouTube or whatever, just basic stuff.
00:47:27.199 --> 00:47:29.119
And I think for that, this is more than enough.
00:47:29.119 --> 00:47:31.199
Plus, it is there's no cost to this.
00:47:31.199 --> 00:47:32.320
I don't have any rent.
00:47:32.320 --> 00:47:34.719
I mean, I have a mortgage, but I was always gonna have the mortgage.
00:47:34.719 --> 00:47:35.360
Exactly.
00:47:35.360 --> 00:47:39.360
So this doesn't add to the AC unit.
00:47:39.360 --> 00:47:40.400
That's like yeah, there you go.
00:47:40.400 --> 00:47:41.840
Yeah, that which takes up.
00:47:41.840 --> 00:47:46.079
I I didn't realize how much uh electricity costs when you're running an AC 24-7.
00:47:46.079 --> 00:47:54.639
Yeah, somehow I I cooled the whole house there, and that costs less than cooling this space, even after insulating it.
00:47:54.639 --> 00:47:57.199
By the way, most places, you know, the garage is insulated, right?
00:47:57.199 --> 00:48:04.320
We made sure the ceiling is insulated, the floor is insulated, the door is insulated, and it's still like my bill almost doubled, you know.
00:48:04.320 --> 00:48:06.960
Wow, because it's 24-7, it's Florida, you know.
00:48:06.960 --> 00:48:08.000
Yeah, obviously it's fine.
00:48:08.000 --> 00:48:13.280
It was fine January because it wasn't the hottest, but yeah, man, after that, you know how it's Florida, yeah.
00:48:13.280 --> 00:48:15.920
It's so hot, like it's just running 24-7.
00:48:15.920 --> 00:48:17.519
Imagine running those racks.
00:48:17.519 --> 00:48:18.400
Oh, wow, yeah.
00:48:18.639 --> 00:48:23.280
The AC at the studio, even if we're not there, I just keep it at a constant temperature.
00:48:23.280 --> 00:48:24.239
It actually works pretty good.
00:48:24.239 --> 00:48:26.639
The AC, the I it's not a good thing.
00:48:26.639 --> 00:48:28.320
Yeah, you probably have a commercial there though.
00:48:28.320 --> 00:48:29.039
That's why, yeah.
00:48:29.280 --> 00:48:31.440
Because that's why if you notice, my rack is not in here.
00:48:31.440 --> 00:48:33.840
That's why my rack is in there that you were mentioning.
00:48:33.840 --> 00:48:36.079
Because yeah, I don't want that to be in here than it would be.
00:48:36.079 --> 00:48:36.719
Oh my goodness.
00:48:36.880 --> 00:48:42.559
You get in that room and it really starts working, it and the AC is at full blast, and you're like, is the AC on?
00:48:42.559 --> 00:48:43.119
Exactly.
00:48:43.119 --> 00:48:45.920
No, yes, it is on, it's been on all day.
00:48:46.079 --> 00:48:49.039
Yeah, so I'm guessing Quentin's a more technical out of the two of you.
00:48:49.039 --> 00:48:51.840
Um or you think you're technical too?
00:48:52.159 --> 00:48:54.960
Um, he has more experience with the equipment that we have.
00:48:54.960 --> 00:48:56.400
I'm very technical too.
00:48:56.400 --> 00:49:02.480
Um it's you know, meeting somebody that's more technical than me was interesting because that doesn't always happen.
00:49:02.480 --> 00:49:04.000
I was always the technical one.
00:49:04.000 --> 00:49:05.760
I was always the one tinkering with stuff.
00:49:05.760 --> 00:49:08.320
It's like, hey, Quentin loves tinker up with stuff too.
00:49:08.320 --> 00:49:13.440
So I was sitting in the I was sitting in the studio the other day, just lent hearing him explain some of the stuff.
00:49:13.440 --> 00:49:15.840
Yeah, of course I understand I understand it now.
00:49:15.840 --> 00:49:18.960
Yeah, um, and I was like, Quentin, do you know that you're a genius?
00:49:18.960 --> 00:49:20.800
Yeah, don't let anybody tell you anything different.
00:49:21.280 --> 00:49:22.320
No, he's he's a great guy.
00:49:22.320 --> 00:49:23.920
My issue with Quentin is the opposite.
00:49:23.920 --> 00:49:26.960
Believe it or not, I love talking about what we do, right?
00:49:26.960 --> 00:49:32.960
Video Yes, uh, you know, video production, just tech gear in general.
00:49:32.960 --> 00:49:35.599
Problem I have with Quentin, Quentin's just like me.
00:49:35.599 --> 00:49:38.480
So he and I, if I start talking, I'll get no work done.
00:49:38.480 --> 00:49:41.840
We'll be there hours talking, and I'm like, holy moly.
00:49:41.840 --> 00:49:55.920
And we can and and it's not a bad, I'm saying I love that, but I'm like, if I start doing that, my business will shut down if Quentin and I got become business partners because uh so there was a while we were thinking about it, and I was like, because I wanted to run like an A V company.
00:49:55.920 --> 00:49:58.719
There was a debate between for me, because you know that's his thing, right?
00:49:58.719 --> 00:50:04.000
I do live streaming, but it's to help brands, that's the the limit of how what we do.
00:50:04.000 --> 00:50:05.840
He obviously can go deeper, you know.
00:50:05.840 --> 00:50:08.719
I'm saying doing a whole whole A V thing.
00:50:08.719 --> 00:50:24.079
So we were thinking about it, and I was like, I genuinely was like, this guy's so like me and so gearhead and so tech that if I he and I became partners, we would just sit and talk and talk for hours, nothing's actually going to happen.
00:50:24.079 --> 00:50:25.280
And then go and be an H and buy.
00:50:25.280 --> 00:50:26.800
Yeah, exactly, and buy, yeah, right.
00:50:26.800 --> 00:50:30.159
I I don't need somebody who would be the opposite, who tell me do not buy.
00:50:30.159 --> 00:50:33.360
Believe it or not, I literally was like, This year I'm gonna buy less gear.
00:50:33.360 --> 00:50:37.039
$40,000, $50,000 later, in the last 30 days.
00:50:37.039 --> 00:50:39.440
I mean, you saw walking in, I'm like, what am I doing?
00:50:39.440 --> 00:50:44.480
I mean, to be real, again, everything had a reason, but still, yes, I don't need a Quentin in my life as well.
00:50:44.480 --> 00:50:46.480
I always find a reason.
00:50:46.480 --> 00:50:50.239
Yeah, right, which is why I don't need another Quentin to find me more reasons to buy.
00:50:50.239 --> 00:50:51.840
We're both married, we know.
00:50:52.079 --> 00:50:53.440
Yeah, we know, yeah, exactly.
00:50:53.440 --> 00:51:00.719
They can say, hey, yeah, oh, I could buy these other shoes, I could buy this other outfit, and yeah, we can buy another camera.
00:51:00.800 --> 00:51:10.639
Yeah, so like right there, I was justifying, you know, I was like, Oh, I gotta acquire an FX2, you know, because I need a photography camera, you know, but also needed to be video, you know.
00:51:10.639 --> 00:51:13.840
That's just yeah, that that's just a constant thing.
00:51:13.840 --> 00:51:15.519
Um, I also want to talk about.
00:51:15.519 --> 00:51:21.519
So we I have a client that I've been helping through my chamber, uh, Austin Arthur.
00:51:21.519 --> 00:51:24.719
He runs like a management company, we can call it, right?
00:51:24.719 --> 00:51:26.719
Like an agency, advertising agency.
00:51:26.719 --> 00:51:28.880
So, anyway, he'll call me sporadically.
00:51:28.880 --> 00:51:31.039
It's just one of those clients that I've known for a few years.
00:51:31.039 --> 00:51:34.400
I'm happy to help him, uh, but nothing you know, major or whatever.
00:51:34.400 --> 00:51:41.840
Anyway, so he calls me for this shoot earlier this year, and it was for and they he with his uh brother co-ones the gymnastics location.
00:51:41.840 --> 00:51:47.360
And I've been always wanting to film that because you know, again, high I like most of the stuff he does a little boring, right?
00:51:47.360 --> 00:51:50.079
So anytime uh people I'm sure people have heard this by now.
00:51:50.079 --> 00:51:52.159
Anytime an exciting thing comes up, I'm all for it.
00:51:52.159 --> 00:51:58.400
Yeah, so he calls me and he's like, Hey, yeah, we're gonna do a shoot for our gymnastics, and I was like, Let's go.
00:51:58.400 --> 00:52:00.559
I even call him annual, like he wasn't part of the shoot.
00:52:00.559 --> 00:52:03.039
I was like, No, you're coming, we're gonna go have a good time.
00:52:03.039 --> 00:52:07.039
I thought it would be like a b-roll, you know, because he didn't tell me a script or anything.
00:52:07.039 --> 00:52:16.559
So uh, so anyway, I was I'm really excited, and and plus, this is the first time he's seen the van because all the stuff I've done is for more for his agency stuff, not for his gymnastics location.
00:52:16.559 --> 00:52:20.400
And so me and Mario show, first of all, the van was the coolest thing ever, right?
00:52:20.400 --> 00:52:24.159
But then they're like, Oh, here's the shoe, here's the script for a commercial.
00:52:24.159 --> 00:52:26.320
I'm like, oh, we're shooting a commercial.
00:52:26.320 --> 00:52:33.840
Uh it would be nice to have the script before because I could have prepared better, but you know, corporate shoot, like we'll roll with the punches.
00:52:33.840 --> 00:52:37.360
And uh what's crazy to me is so now we're shooting a commercial, right?
00:52:37.360 --> 00:52:39.760
Me and Mario, I'm like so glad you're here, Mario.
00:52:39.760 --> 00:52:46.320
And uh, but it obviously they they know marketing, they understand, so the script was very tight, you know, like they know what they want to do, where they want to do it.
00:52:46.320 --> 00:52:50.239
So it makes it makes it a lot easier on us to be able to execute that.
00:52:50.239 --> 00:52:51.840
So, anyway, it was a fun day for us.
00:52:51.840 --> 00:53:02.159
Uh, you know, we got to see a lot of cool stuff, uh, a lot of talented gymnastics people, and plus, I was surprised how big that location is huge.
00:53:02.159 --> 00:53:08.960
Like, we only saw first the first half, and then there's like, oh, this is like a whole another this is where the ninjas go.
00:53:08.960 --> 00:53:10.800
This is where they they had the ribbons.
00:53:10.800 --> 00:53:12.559
This is for the pros, right?
00:53:12.559 --> 00:53:15.360
Anyway, and then the anyway, Mario, what do you think about that shoot?
00:53:15.360 --> 00:53:16.400
Do you remember?
00:53:16.880 --> 00:53:17.599
Yes, I do.
00:53:17.599 --> 00:53:19.519
Yeah, uh, it was really fun.
00:53:19.519 --> 00:53:23.760
I uh uh what I like is the um they really know what they wanted, right?
00:53:23.760 --> 00:53:27.760
Like uh Austin with all his team, they were okay.
00:53:27.760 --> 00:53:31.519
Yeah, they had a whole script never a script that you already know, okay.
00:53:31.519 --> 00:53:37.360
Let's do this outside, then we go inside, or let's just go to a ninja section and then to this this section.
00:53:37.360 --> 00:53:42.320
So yeah, I think it was great, and we just saw a video, and yeah, it turned out great.
00:53:42.559 --> 00:53:44.320
Yeah, so before we started, we saw the video.
00:53:44.320 --> 00:53:46.000
So so anyway, I didn't know this.
00:53:46.000 --> 00:53:50.400
So anyway, obviously obviously we did this, we had a good time, it's just a shoot for us, right?
00:53:50.400 --> 00:53:52.159
Uh, and I was like, this is pretty cool.
00:53:52.159 --> 00:53:54.320
The kids are telling obviously they had different ranges, right?
00:53:54.320 --> 00:53:58.800
There's smaller kids, younger kids, and then pros on the other side doing crazy stuff, obviously.
00:53:58.800 --> 00:54:00.159
And so it was really good.
00:54:00.159 --> 00:54:02.960
It was good to get a little bit of everything, and we had a good time.
00:54:02.960 --> 00:54:09.519
But then I didn't know this until later when we were on the pro side, we were actually filming your son because he goes there.
00:54:09.760 --> 00:54:10.639
He goes there, yeah.
00:54:10.800 --> 00:54:12.239
And uh tell tell about that.
00:54:12.239 --> 00:54:28.400
Like, how did that you you so essentially again from my side, I guess, is we were I was visiting, I guess, Quentin the day I rented his FX6, and you were telling me about it about uh the gymnastics place, yeah, and uh and I was like, that was me, and I don't think you knew that, right?
00:54:28.400 --> 00:54:30.159
Like nope, no, so so go ahead.
00:54:30.239 --> 00:54:34.000
I mean uh so um my son does gymnastics and he loves it.
00:54:34.000 --> 00:54:39.039
He started out just by flipping off of everything, and we were like, we gotta get you into gymnastics.
00:54:39.039 --> 00:54:43.760
It was the big C-word, COVID time, and couldn't do anything, and then finally it eased up.
00:54:43.760 --> 00:54:48.239
We're like, we're taking you to gymnastics, and we took them and it just took off.
00:54:48.239 --> 00:54:50.239
And he loves it, he loves doing it.
00:54:50.239 --> 00:54:55.519
And um, I mean, and you didn't really get to see the really cool stuff.
00:54:55.519 --> 00:55:04.239
So, one thing that that gym does, I I love that gym by the way, what they've done for my son, the structure that they've put in place for him because we had to move to there.
00:55:04.239 --> 00:55:07.440
And um they're just really cool people.
00:55:07.440 --> 00:55:12.320
It's a it's a good um It's a good group of parents as well.
00:55:12.320 --> 00:55:18.239
You know, after after meets we go and eat together as a team with the coaches.
00:55:18.239 --> 00:55:19.360
I was like, what?
00:55:20.239 --> 00:55:22.000
What we're eating with the coaches?
00:55:22.000 --> 00:55:23.360
It's so crazy, right?
00:55:23.760 --> 00:55:29.679
Him and his wife, yeah, this lovely people, but um they they really train those kids really hard.
00:55:29.679 --> 00:55:32.000
And and my son loves it.
00:55:32.000 --> 00:55:35.679
The first day he went to that gym, he said, Daddy, I'm sore.
00:55:35.679 --> 00:55:38.159
Oh wow, and he was so worked him out, yeah.
00:55:38.159 --> 00:55:40.800
Yes, and he's like, Yes, I just love this place.
00:55:40.800 --> 00:55:51.440
So and um but the really cool thing, it would have been nice for y'all to come was when they do their actual Olympics, the Mako Olympics for the pre-team.
00:55:51.440 --> 00:55:55.679
Oh man, they had kids, they had my son in the ceiling tiles.
00:55:55.679 --> 00:56:06.719
Yeah, wow crazy, and his kid came on the zip line as Spider-Man, and it was yeah, so they do a lot of stuff for the kids, and you know, the the commercial really did turn out great.
00:56:06.719 --> 00:56:07.920
I saw my son's head in it.
00:56:08.079 --> 00:56:12.960
Yeah, I know it was like the you know, and obviously we we didn't edit that, so they edited that.
00:56:12.960 --> 00:56:16.719
That was one of those where you know we handled the footage, so I had no idea how they're gonna edit it.
00:56:16.719 --> 00:56:18.000
Obviously, it came out great.
00:56:18.000 --> 00:56:21.519
We watched it, like I said, right before we started, and it was incredible.
00:56:21.519 --> 00:56:28.159
Uh, but what's crazy to me is like you said, it's one of the largest facilities, I think, for gymnastics in Florida.
00:56:28.159 --> 00:56:36.159
Yes, and then on top of that, you know, like I said, I know Austin for a while, and I think his brother, and I think it's his wife, who's running this, and they're they're doing great jobs.
00:56:36.159 --> 00:56:36.880
It's good too.
00:56:36.880 --> 00:56:41.599
I've obviously met Alexander at Austin's office, had never met his wife, but I think they're doing great.
00:56:41.599 --> 00:56:45.119
We also got to film, I think, Austin's children there for part of that.
00:56:45.119 --> 00:56:47.119
Yeah, uh, but again, at the time I didn't know.
00:56:47.119 --> 00:56:51.519
I knew you, because we had met and done the Kia thing, that your son goes there.
00:56:51.519 --> 00:56:54.960
So I'm filming, and I think you were talking about, and so it's crazy.
00:56:54.960 --> 00:56:58.000
So we've shot this thing, we've we we moved on, right?
00:56:58.000 --> 00:56:59.440
And then you were telling me about it.
00:56:59.440 --> 00:57:00.320
And I was like, What?
00:57:00.320 --> 00:57:04.320
Your son goes there, so I filmed him, and obviously there's way more footage of him that we did.
00:57:04.320 --> 00:57:20.079
Uh obviously, they used what they used, but like it's just such a small world, like you know that we didn't know people between common, and your son's going there, and he's also gonna be um uh like he's you know, like you said, he was in the nationals or whatever, he's he's doing really amazing.
00:57:20.079 --> 00:57:25.360
And uh, I think the way I found out was something about you posted about how it was good the coaches, right?
00:57:25.360 --> 00:57:28.320
Alexander, but and I was like, huh, you know him?
00:57:28.320 --> 00:57:30.320
And I was like, then that's what I think I asked you about.
00:57:30.719 --> 00:57:31.840
Yes, you asked me about that.
00:57:31.840 --> 00:57:36.320
Yes, uh, you know, sometimes you just gotta let people know that you appreciate them and put it out there.
00:57:36.320 --> 00:57:38.880
So I just wanted to make sure, you know, maybe he saw it, maybe he didn't.
00:57:38.880 --> 00:57:39.199
I don't know.
00:57:39.199 --> 00:57:41.119
Actually, no, he did see it because he mentioned something.
00:57:41.119 --> 00:57:42.880
He's like, Yeah, I didn't know you did this.
00:57:42.880 --> 00:57:43.920
I was like, Yeah.
00:57:44.159 --> 00:57:53.039
Yeah, I mean, because they're helping your son, and like you said, what what we talked about, like they're genuinely wanting to, you know, help him and help him grow in his skill and succeed.
00:57:53.039 --> 00:57:59.840
Because, you know, it's again, it's just like us when people do what they like for a living, what they love, it just makes it better, right?
00:57:59.840 --> 00:58:02.800
And then you it's it's nothing but something you want to appreciate.
00:58:02.800 --> 00:58:09.679
Because at the end of the day, you want your son to do his best, and if they want the same thing, then everyone wins, you know, because that's their job.
00:58:09.679 --> 00:58:14.719
But then if they love their job, then your son's gonna do their best and see that and feel that, you know.
00:58:14.719 --> 00:58:16.000
And like I said, I felt it.
00:58:16.000 --> 00:58:21.440
I was only there one day though, so I I my experience is limited, but I think both of us had a great time.
00:58:21.440 --> 00:58:22.800
We're like, this is an awesome place.
00:58:22.800 --> 00:58:28.639
You know, I was there, I was like from both sides, from people who are in experience to who are who are doing the pro side.
00:58:28.639 --> 00:58:31.599
I was like, wow, like everyone is just having a good time.
00:58:31.599 --> 00:58:35.519
And if it was I wish I wasn't in that side, I would send love to send my kids there.
00:58:35.519 --> 00:58:36.000
Yeah.
00:58:36.000 --> 00:58:44.960
Um, you know, because uh I genuinely felt like it was a good place, and again, I'm so glad that we have that connect in the yeah, you know, and and that's what I'm talking about.
00:58:44.960 --> 00:58:47.599
You never know who you know where you never know.
00:58:47.599 --> 00:58:50.079
And networking is so huge in what we do.
00:58:50.079 --> 00:58:55.519
You gotta always be go out there, you know, say hello to everyone, try to network.
00:58:55.519 --> 00:58:58.960
Uh, cause uh because again, like I said, the world is very small, yeah.
00:58:58.960 --> 00:59:00.079
And integrity.
00:59:00.159 --> 00:59:00.639
Yeah, integrity.
00:59:00.639 --> 00:59:01.920
Integrity is a big thing.
00:59:01.920 --> 00:59:10.400
Um, I can't tell you how many um when I go on a church shoot, now my my pastor, he's he used to preach all around the country a lot.
00:59:10.400 --> 00:59:16.719
Now he's kind of not stepped away from the role, but kind of stepped back um and took back over the church.
00:59:16.719 --> 00:59:22.079
And I'll go to some places and they'll know who I am and where I came from.
00:59:22.079 --> 00:59:23.039
I didn't tell them.
00:59:23.119 --> 00:59:23.440
Yeah.
00:59:23.920 --> 00:59:32.400
Um, one time I was I was in Tennessee doing a church conference, just doing photography and some video work for them, recap videos every day.
00:59:32.400 --> 00:59:35.280
And it was like, Yeah, I know exactly who you are.
00:59:35.280 --> 00:59:36.320
I know your team and everything.
00:59:36.320 --> 00:59:41.760
And I and the great thing about it is I my most of my team are teenagers.
00:59:41.760 --> 00:59:45.119
I actually acquired preteens a few years ago.
00:59:45.119 --> 00:59:50.159
I had a kid start it when he was nine, and he's probably one of my best people right now.
00:59:50.159 --> 00:59:52.400
And he's 11, I think.
00:59:52.400 --> 00:59:53.039
12.
00:59:53.039 --> 00:59:54.239
Well, he just turned 12.
00:59:54.239 --> 01:00:05.199
And um, working with the young people there is just so amazing because like you you s sometimes I sit back and I just like I get everything started and just kind of sit back and let them do their thing.
01:00:05.360 --> 01:00:06.719
Yeah, it's a spark, right?
01:00:06.719 --> 01:00:09.039
So they'll just have the have the spark.
01:00:09.039 --> 01:00:19.360
And then I think as a teacher, obviously, uh, you know, I think that's what makes I think also a good teacher, bad teacher, whatever it's like being able to bring that spark out of somebody, right?
01:00:19.360 --> 01:00:20.639
I think that's the key.
01:00:20.639 --> 01:00:27.440
Because I remember uh growing up anyway, I having teachers who are just like, do this, do this, and I'm like, This is so boring.
01:00:27.440 --> 01:00:30.559
And then then teachers who make even boring things interesting, right?
01:00:30.559 --> 01:00:32.079
They make you want to be part of it.
01:00:32.079 --> 01:00:35.599
And I think so it also goes on to say how good of a teacher you are.
01:00:35.599 --> 01:00:43.280
Because if you're bringing these young kids to have more interest in them doing their best, then I I mean that's all they really want, right?
01:00:43.280 --> 01:00:45.360
Somebody to pull out that spark out of them, right?
01:00:45.599 --> 01:00:53.920
Yeah, and just and I'd like to try to I tell them, I said, um I know some of you aren't gonna be in this forever.
01:00:53.920 --> 01:00:58.880
You know, you're just doing this because you want to do something or your parents made you do it in the beginning, honestly.
01:00:58.880 --> 01:01:01.199
Most of them, their parents made them do it in the beginning.
01:01:01.199 --> 01:01:05.599
Um, but as they grow to love it, some of them will do this professionally.
01:01:06.559 --> 01:01:08.400
And that's how you find out, you know.
01:01:08.400 --> 01:01:12.079
Like you said, I'm sure a lot of parents send their kids to the gymnastic location.
01:01:12.079 --> 01:01:16.239
Not everyone turns pro like your son is, and that's where the spark is, right?
01:01:16.239 --> 01:01:16.880
You have to find it.
01:01:16.880 --> 01:01:20.800
You're like, oh wow, yeah, this is and I'm sure the coach notices too, right?
01:01:20.800 --> 01:01:23.519
He's like, oh yeah, I gotta I gotta hone the skills of this kid.
01:01:23.519 --> 01:01:24.239
He has potential.
01:01:24.480 --> 01:01:43.679
Yeah, and one thing I love about gymnastics is it teaches so much discipline and they have to work at it and it's physical, and and the big thing is even if they e even if he doesn't end up going to college for it, let's just say, because you know, of course, his is he aspires to do it professionally and go to Olympics one day.
01:01:43.679 --> 01:01:54.559
But even if that doesn't happen, he just does it and stops when he goes to college, you still learn how to deal with people, deal with adversity, deal with winning, deal with losing, yeah, which is a huge thing.
01:01:54.800 --> 01:01:55.119
Exactly.
01:01:55.119 --> 01:01:57.440
Those are important life skills, important life schools.
01:01:57.519 --> 01:01:58.239
You already went through that.
01:01:58.239 --> 01:02:00.719
You've you've been at the top, you've been at the bottom.
01:02:00.719 --> 01:02:05.119
You've did it where you got all the medals, and you've been there when you got no medals.
01:02:05.199 --> 01:02:05.360
Yeah.
01:02:05.440 --> 01:02:06.400
And you know how to deal with it.
01:02:06.400 --> 01:02:10.960
And sometimes those are the life lessons that they have to learn that not all kids get a chance to learn.
01:02:10.960 --> 01:02:13.280
And yeah, the coach is on them.
01:02:13.280 --> 01:02:14.320
Yeah, coach, yeah.
01:02:14.320 --> 01:02:15.920
Coach Xander is on them.
01:02:15.920 --> 01:02:18.639
He was actually coach of the oh, I forgot to tell you, he was coach of the year this year.
01:02:18.639 --> 01:02:19.039
Oh, really?
01:02:19.039 --> 01:02:19.840
For I didn't know that.
01:02:19.840 --> 01:02:22.960
For um USA gymnastics in the whole country.
01:02:23.199 --> 01:02:23.360
Wow.
01:02:23.360 --> 01:02:23.840
That's awesome.
01:02:23.840 --> 01:02:26.000
Like I said, they're they're killing it, man.
01:02:26.000 --> 01:02:28.559
Both the brothers, they're they're on top of what they're doing.
01:02:28.559 --> 01:02:30.320
I mean, Austin's everywhere too.
01:02:30.320 --> 01:02:33.440
I mean, he was running for um commissioner, I think.
01:02:33.440 --> 01:02:34.320
Uh oh, he was?
01:02:34.320 --> 01:02:34.880
I didn't know that.
01:02:34.880 --> 01:02:36.000
What was he running for?
01:02:36.000 --> 01:02:36.960
Uh I don't know.
01:02:36.960 --> 01:02:38.639
It's it's some some office too.
01:02:38.639 --> 01:02:41.199
Like, you know, I helped him with some of his campaign stuff.
01:02:41.199 --> 01:02:44.719
So yeah, he, you know, they're they're always out, they're out in the community helping people.
01:02:44.719 --> 01:02:50.960
We also helped them with uh him with a documentary that he's trying to do for Winter Garden and stuff, East Winter Garden.
01:02:50.960 --> 01:02:55.039
So, like I said, they're always out in the community doing something, helping out, and that's awesome.
01:02:55.039 --> 01:02:57.440
I mean, it's the same thing for us, like I said.
01:02:57.440 --> 01:02:59.039
Quentin's doing the same thing.
01:02:59.039 --> 01:03:00.239
I mean, I need any help.
01:03:00.239 --> 01:03:01.599
Funny is rare.
01:03:01.599 --> 01:03:07.760
I know like I said, I I usually have everything and I usually know most of it, but again, even I don't know everything.
01:03:07.760 --> 01:03:09.119
Yeah, nobody knows everything.
01:03:09.119 --> 01:03:10.639
So, and then Quentin's my guy.
01:03:10.639 --> 01:03:14.719
Usually, if I don't know anything, he's the one who's gonna know that specific thing.
01:03:14.719 --> 01:03:18.800
So, like recently, I was thinking about getting uh live units, you know.
01:03:18.800 --> 01:03:22.880
Yes, and uh guess who's called who I called, you know, Quentin Quentin.
01:03:22.880 --> 01:03:27.920
I mean, he doesn't answer my phones anymore since the studio because he's busy, but he called me back, you know what I mean?
01:03:27.920 --> 01:03:32.880
Like, because uh I know he's he's busy, you know, getting that place uh wherever he wants.
01:03:33.679 --> 01:03:36.800
And we're about to go to Africa again in uh about two weeks.
01:03:37.039 --> 01:03:37.440
Look at that.
01:03:37.440 --> 01:03:39.679
And then how long are you going for this time?
01:03:40.079 --> 01:03:41.679
17 days, I think it is.
01:03:41.679 --> 01:03:42.719
16, 17 days.
01:03:43.039 --> 01:03:43.599
It's a long trip.
01:03:43.679 --> 01:03:44.880
Yep, he probably he gets back.
01:03:44.880 --> 01:03:46.960
Are you taking the Sony or are you black magic?
01:03:46.960 --> 01:03:48.639
Um, I'm taking my Sony's.
01:03:48.639 --> 01:03:50.639
I'm I'm I'm doing photography for this trip.
01:03:50.719 --> 01:03:52.320
So and is he gonna do video?
01:03:52.559 --> 01:03:54.320
He's doing video, so it's gonna be fun.
01:03:54.320 --> 01:03:55.280
He's taking his FX6.
01:03:55.280 --> 01:03:56.320
So that's what I thought.
01:03:56.320 --> 01:03:56.960
Yeah, yeah.
01:03:56.960 --> 01:03:59.440
Black magic isn't the best for run and gun.
01:03:59.440 --> 01:03:59.760
Yeah.
01:03:59.760 --> 01:04:02.320
Unless you want to manually focus all the time.
01:04:02.559 --> 01:04:04.079
But he's uh no, he's he's good.
01:04:04.079 --> 01:04:07.199
And like I said, he like was saying he's knowledgeable about it too.
01:04:07.199 --> 01:04:12.239
I called him and he was immediately able to answer my questions because I was like, hey, I want to acquire some of these.
01:04:12.239 --> 01:04:12.719
What do you think?
01:04:12.719 --> 01:04:13.679
And whatever, whatever.
01:04:13.679 --> 01:04:17.280
And he was like, Yeah, this is how much it's gonna be, or this is how it's not gonna be.
01:04:17.280 --> 01:04:27.840
There's another company that was able to research, you know, and that's what you need as a as a as somebody in the industry, and that's why I'm saying it's so important to have the network where you know I know a lot about it, but I know everything.
01:04:27.840 --> 01:04:32.639
And like you said, you guys went to Inco Infocom, he knew the latest products and and stuff like that.
01:04:32.639 --> 01:04:34.320
And he was like, Yeah, this is right.
01:04:34.320 --> 01:04:36.960
And then I was like, Okay, thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
01:04:36.960 --> 01:04:38.320
And you know, I was able to go.
01:04:38.320 --> 01:04:42.559
Same thing when he wanted the FX6, he had called me, he was like, Send me a photo of your rig.
01:04:42.559 --> 01:04:47.280
He wanted to see how to rig it up or whatever, or what his options were, and that's what I'm saying.
01:04:47.280 --> 01:04:50.880
It's a collaborative industry, you work together and you succeed together.
01:04:50.880 --> 01:04:54.079
Uh now talk about uh pricing strategies.
01:04:54.079 --> 01:04:55.039
How are you?
01:04:55.039 --> 01:05:00.800
I know you do photography, you do videography, you're doing some podcast stuff, you're doing live stuff.
01:05:00.800 --> 01:05:02.559
I mean, there's a lot you guys do.
01:05:02.559 --> 01:05:06.239
Yeah, uh, let's go with photography, because that's mostly what I've seen you do.
01:05:06.239 --> 01:05:08.480
At least when I'm approaching, you're like, I got a photo session.
01:05:08.480 --> 01:05:10.239
So, how do you normally price?
01:05:10.239 --> 01:05:12.960
What could somebody let's say somebody's interested in it?
01:05:12.960 --> 01:05:20.239
Uh, you know, and I know it's skill-based, there's a lot of ranges, but what can somebody realistically expect to charge?
01:05:20.239 --> 01:05:23.280
I don't know, if they're if they want to do photography.
01:05:23.599 --> 01:05:25.119
First off, let me be let me be real.
01:05:25.119 --> 01:05:33.360
Yeah so I am into the professional side of it, I am really starting to get into that side of it and pricing it.
01:05:33.360 --> 01:05:40.480
Because um, one thing about doing it for church where you're learning, you don't always you don't charge all the time.
01:05:40.480 --> 01:05:44.320
You know, sometimes they'll bless you, give you some money and things of that nature, but you don't always charge.
01:05:44.320 --> 01:05:48.159
So I'm working on growing that and learning, you know, my worth.
01:05:48.159 --> 01:05:52.400
It's hard to it's hard to learn your worth when you're used to it just doing it because it's fun.
01:05:52.400 --> 01:05:52.880
Yeah.
01:05:52.880 --> 01:05:59.840
So I would say if you're starting out, of course you're gonna do a lot of free stuff.
01:05:59.840 --> 01:06:01.679
Do a lot of free stuff.
01:06:01.679 --> 01:06:03.760
I suggest if you have kids, do your kids.
01:06:03.760 --> 01:06:09.519
If you have a wife or fiance or brothers and sisters, parents, do them first.
01:06:09.519 --> 01:06:11.440
That's the best thing to start with.
01:06:11.440 --> 01:06:19.840
I am trying to get into the you know I guess you would say the five, six hundred dollar range.
01:06:20.239 --> 01:06:22.079
That's like sort of like a session you're saying.
01:06:22.400 --> 01:06:31.039
Yes, that's what I'm trying to work towards that, but it's finding a clientele because it's hard to and I was just talking to somebody, I was talking to my wife about this actually.
01:06:31.039 --> 01:06:39.039
Um, how do you get the mindset of people to get you out of the oh you said how much?
01:06:39.039 --> 01:06:41.039
I was expecting like a hundred dollars.
01:06:41.039 --> 01:06:41.280
Yeah.
01:06:41.280 --> 01:06:45.199
I'm like, do you know that my rig is like seven grand?
01:06:45.519 --> 01:06:46.880
Yeah, and then you have to edit the photo.
01:06:46.880 --> 01:06:47.679
You have to edit it?
01:06:52.239 --> 01:06:57.760
And of course, getting out of what you think is a good deal.
01:06:57.760 --> 01:06:58.880
Because it's like I do this.
01:06:58.880 --> 01:07:03.920
So for me, it's like I needed a picture, I just set it on a tripod and take the picture, you know?
01:07:03.920 --> 01:07:10.400
But for them, it's like, oh no, you need the expertise, you need the posing, you need to have somebody that knows how to a little bit about makeup.
01:07:10.400 --> 01:07:12.239
You know, like the camera.
01:07:12.239 --> 01:07:19.119
What's the undertone of the person to be able to light them correctly and make sure that when you go and post, it's not as much work.
01:07:19.119 --> 01:07:26.400
Hey, I need to be able to give you the stuff turnaround to the same day, yeah, or I need to do high-end type things.
01:07:26.400 --> 01:07:36.159
So, I mean, I would guess if somebody's just doing a regular photo shoot, um, I would guess the two to four hundred dollar range would probably be your start.
01:07:36.320 --> 01:07:36.719
Yeah.
01:07:36.960 --> 01:07:40.239
Starting, um, and they could just go up from there depending on what you need.
01:07:40.239 --> 01:07:40.719
I want to.
01:07:41.280 --> 01:07:45.920
These are personal photos, so you're helping, you know, a family or a couple or a individual.
01:07:45.920 --> 01:07:48.000
There's obviously more money, right?
01:07:48.000 --> 01:07:49.440
When you start to do company stuff.
01:07:49.440 --> 01:07:49.920
Yes.
01:07:49.920 --> 01:07:53.679
So if if obviously, and it also depends, I guess, on people's personality.
01:07:53.679 --> 01:07:56.880
If they just want to do it for individuals, then that's fine.
01:07:56.880 --> 01:07:58.719
I mean, this is a good rate too.
01:07:58.719 --> 01:08:06.000
But if you really want to just make money, companies where you're at, doing corporate divisions, exactly corporate photography, headshots, right?
01:08:06.159 --> 01:08:11.280
Yeah, and that's where it's kind of hard of pricing, is saying, hey, I want to be able to do these family shoes.
01:08:11.280 --> 01:08:12.239
I like doing it.
01:08:12.239 --> 01:08:13.360
I really do like doing it.
01:08:13.360 --> 01:08:13.679
Yeah.
01:08:13.679 --> 01:08:19.199
You know, um, but then also, hey, I have a family uh I have you I need you to do a family reunion.
01:08:19.199 --> 01:08:35.760
Yeah, that's gonna be a lot different pricing structure than hey, me and my husband want to do a photo shoot for uh for an hour for our anniversary, versus I need to make a whole set, I need to drive 45 minutes, I gotta bring all these lights, I'm not gonna know what's going on.
01:08:35.760 --> 01:08:40.079
I gotta do, oh, there's like eight different families in this big family.
01:08:40.079 --> 01:08:48.880
I need to do some of those, pose them here, pose them there, and by the time you leave three hours later, you are totally exhausted.
01:08:49.039 --> 01:08:50.800
Yeah, and that would be a lot more money, right?
01:08:50.800 --> 01:08:51.840
A lot more money.
01:08:51.840 --> 01:08:54.640
Uh, you know, like you said, there's eight families.
01:08:54.640 --> 01:08:58.079
You're driving, you're also going on location with some of them coming to your studio.
01:08:58.079 --> 01:08:58.560
Yes.
01:08:58.560 --> 01:08:59.840
So what would something like that be?
01:08:59.840 --> 01:09:01.760
What a couple thousand, maybe more?
01:09:02.239 --> 01:09:03.119
That would be nice.
01:09:03.119 --> 01:09:03.600
Yeah.
01:09:03.600 --> 01:09:05.840
But probably in um starting in a thousand range.
01:09:05.840 --> 01:09:06.000
Okay.
01:09:06.000 --> 01:09:07.520
I mean, for something for a big family.
01:09:07.520 --> 01:09:08.079
Yes.
01:09:08.159 --> 01:09:09.520
Um really not bad.
01:09:09.520 --> 01:09:11.920
You going there for three hours, you know, like you said.
01:09:11.920 --> 01:09:12.399
Yeah.
01:09:12.399 --> 01:09:14.720
Getting some photos done and giving that.
01:09:15.199 --> 01:09:20.239
You know, first 30, 30-ish minutes, you're just like kind of talking, getting people where that, finding out who's who.
01:09:20.399 --> 01:09:20.640
Yeah.
01:09:20.800 --> 01:09:22.239
Okay, this is this is grandma.
01:09:22.239 --> 01:09:24.479
So make sure to get her and do that.
01:09:24.479 --> 01:09:33.199
And when you have little kids, one thing that I always do whenever I do family photo shoots and I do little kids is if they come in ready, I'm starting with them.
01:09:33.199 --> 01:09:39.920
Yeah, because they're not gonna look like they're not even just look like once they are tired, yeah, they're done.
01:09:39.920 --> 01:09:43.039
You're not gonna get any great photos when the kid is tired.
01:09:43.039 --> 01:09:48.399
You can't cheer them up, they're hungry, whatever the case may be, if their toddlers are are below.
01:09:48.399 --> 01:09:50.319
And especially if you're outside.
01:09:50.319 --> 01:09:51.279
Oh, that's it.
01:09:51.279 --> 01:09:52.479
Yeah, Florida, man.
01:09:52.479 --> 01:09:55.840
Yeah, so you get that out of the way first.
01:09:55.840 --> 01:09:58.399
And then um, then you start getting to the older ones.
01:09:58.399 --> 01:10:02.880
Like, all right, y'all gotta stay and and then teenagers, you gotta cheer them up.
01:10:03.039 --> 01:10:04.800
Yeah, well that'd be a hard job.
01:10:05.039 --> 01:10:09.760
Oh, it's like that's who I like dealing with when I when teaching, I like the middle high school kids.
01:10:09.760 --> 01:10:12.560
They are becoming different nowadays, though.
01:10:12.560 --> 01:10:13.520
They are very different.
01:10:13.760 --> 01:10:17.039
I mean, they're they're growing up with uh what do you call the scroll lifestyle, right?
01:10:17.039 --> 01:10:19.840
Just being on the phone, yeah, their attitudes a little bit differently.
01:10:20.239 --> 01:10:23.359
I mean, I'm not I I guess I'm getting into the older range.
01:10:23.359 --> 01:10:27.119
I'm 39, about to be 40 this year, and they're just different.
01:10:27.119 --> 01:10:30.399
They are from four years ago, they're different.
01:10:30.399 --> 01:10:32.560
I'm like, who are you?
01:10:32.560 --> 01:10:33.199
Wow.
01:10:33.439 --> 01:10:36.800
What would you what uh so describe like what do you mean by that?
01:10:36.800 --> 01:10:38.000
Like in what way?
01:10:38.000 --> 01:10:42.640
Um is it just because they're growing up in this environment, you know?
01:10:42.880 --> 01:10:45.199
Their attitudes are different and how they respond to people.
01:10:45.199 --> 01:10:47.039
They're it's different.
01:10:47.039 --> 01:10:52.319
And even when I I was when I went to high school, you know, we were a certain way.
01:10:52.319 --> 01:10:54.960
Two years later I was substitute teaching.
01:10:54.960 --> 01:11:02.880
And I couldn't recognize how they were acting two years out of high school.
01:11:02.880 --> 01:11:05.840
Not because I was different, of course I was different.
01:11:05.840 --> 01:11:17.520
I'm an adult now and I'm changing things, but and and of course, you know, vernacular's gonna change, things that they say is gonna change, but the way they acted towards adults changed in two years.
01:11:17.520 --> 01:11:28.159
It's crazy, and even nowadays is different, you know, and depending on areas that you're in, uh the two-parent household, one-parent household, is the grandparents raising them.
01:11:28.159 --> 01:11:38.319
Yeah, I mean, I could tell you some stories that I probably wouldn't say on camera from what I've experienced in that, and you'd be like, Really?
01:11:38.319 --> 01:11:40.960
That happened, the mother and the grandma can't be able to do that.
01:11:40.960 --> 01:11:45.680
What is it can get crazy, and then you have some kids that are just diamonds in the rough.
01:11:45.680 --> 01:11:50.399
All you need to do is give them a little bit of encouragement, and they excel.
01:11:50.399 --> 01:11:58.319
They go from almost failing out to almost straight A students, and all they just needed was a little bit of encouragement.
01:11:58.319 --> 01:12:03.920
Yeah, but then it's those are getting further and fewer in between now.
01:12:03.920 --> 01:12:06.159
It's crazy.
01:12:06.159 --> 01:12:13.199
And I say, you know, you're the lovely family, you gotta keep those kids close and just make sure that you're monitoring them.
01:12:13.199 --> 01:12:14.880
And hey, you know what?
01:12:14.880 --> 01:12:17.439
So you get a certain age, I choose your friends.
01:12:19.199 --> 01:12:20.720
Yeah, no, I totally get it.
01:12:20.720 --> 01:12:24.560
And I don't know how much you know we'll be able to, we'll try because you're absolutely right.
01:12:24.560 --> 01:12:30.880
You know, as a as a dad, I'm starting to realize that to be honest, I felt like I had full freedom as a kid.
01:12:30.880 --> 01:12:39.520
And maybe I I'm looking at it more, you know, not pleasantly, because you know, I only have the happy memories or whatever, but I don't remember my parents restricting me much.
01:12:39.520 --> 01:12:47.039
And I was one of those kids that I was just like, you know, like I said, I was just like happy watching Pokemon and crap, you know, as a kid.
01:12:47.039 --> 01:12:53.199
So it's like, oh, let me play some on my PSP, play Pokemon, go out and maybe play with my friends, some soccer or whatever.
01:12:53.199 --> 01:12:53.840
You know what I mean?
01:12:53.840 --> 01:12:58.880
Like that was my growing up, so I was never into any of the crazy stuff now kids are into.
01:12:58.880 --> 01:13:02.720
I think and yeah, I hear stories and I'm like, whoa, what are they doing?
01:13:02.720 --> 01:13:09.920
Well, I think but to be honest, if I had a device in my pocket with the internet, who knows what I'd be able to do.
01:13:10.159 --> 01:13:16.079
Yeah, there is that part of it too, but I think it's also just the way some people are raised, some kids are being raised.
01:13:16.079 --> 01:13:20.159
Yeah, and the thing is where you're at most of the time is what rubs off on you.
01:13:20.159 --> 01:13:25.359
Because you know, my daughter's five, and you know, and she doesn't say anything bad.
01:13:25.359 --> 01:13:33.840
So it's not even bad, it's just she'll talk certain ways and use certain words that we don't use, not necessarily bad, just incorrect English.
01:13:33.920 --> 01:13:34.159
Yeah.
01:13:34.560 --> 01:13:36.399
We don't talk like that, but she's at school.
01:13:36.399 --> 01:13:38.319
So she picks it up from the other kids.
01:13:38.319 --> 01:13:38.479
Yeah.
01:13:38.479 --> 01:13:40.800
And when they're little, they pick up that type of stuff.
01:13:40.800 --> 01:13:43.039
When they get older, they pick up other things.
01:13:43.039 --> 01:13:46.880
Because, you know, I monitor my son on the internet.
01:13:46.880 --> 01:13:48.720
Excuse me.
01:13:48.720 --> 01:13:53.199
And I monitor him, so I kind of know what he's doing and kind of do that.
01:13:53.199 --> 01:13:56.960
And the kids that we hung out with, my our parents knew each other.
01:13:56.960 --> 01:14:02.079
Sometimes it's like the the parents are crazy.
01:14:02.319 --> 01:14:02.640
Yeah.
01:14:02.880 --> 01:14:03.520
That's the problem.
01:14:03.520 --> 01:14:10.000
And it's not even the kids, it's sometimes it's just like and then being in, and it kind of jade you a little bit being a teacher.
01:14:10.000 --> 01:14:21.359
Um, even though I wasn't at a big school, we're a very small private school, and just seeing that there's parents I didn't meet, I had their kids for three, four years, never met the parent until they had a perceived problem.
01:14:21.359 --> 01:14:22.560
Wow.
01:14:22.560 --> 01:14:25.600
And then some of them parents I knew them the whole entire time.
01:14:25.600 --> 01:14:27.840
And you know, it's just how it is.
01:14:27.840 --> 01:14:29.840
So that's also why I like dealing with the older kids.
01:14:29.840 --> 01:14:31.039
I could just talk to them real.
01:14:31.039 --> 01:14:31.279
Yeah.
01:14:31.279 --> 01:14:33.039
Versus trying to like, oh, you know, it's good.
01:14:33.039 --> 01:14:34.399
No, we're gonna talk.
01:14:34.399 --> 01:14:34.880
Yeah.
01:14:34.880 --> 01:14:37.439
You know, do you want to be in this situation when you get older?
01:14:37.439 --> 01:14:38.000
No.
01:14:38.000 --> 01:14:40.399
You gotta change it.
01:14:40.640 --> 01:14:41.359
Exactly.
01:14:41.359 --> 01:14:42.000
Wow.
01:14:42.000 --> 01:14:42.960
That's good to know.
01:14:42.960 --> 01:14:45.199
You know, you have a different perspective in life than I do.
01:14:45.199 --> 01:14:45.600
Yeah.
01:14:45.600 --> 01:14:54.479
Because you know, obviously, I I I have my own perspective, but I help with like companies, you know, that want to make money, and so they want to just get it done, usually.
01:14:54.479 --> 01:14:57.760
Because it's in their interest, they're paying me a lot of money to come help them.
01:14:57.760 --> 01:14:59.439
It's very different for kids, you know.
01:14:59.439 --> 01:15:03.359
Like you said, you have you are the you know, you could change their life.
01:15:03.359 --> 01:15:04.880
It's so crazy as a teacher.
01:15:04.880 --> 01:15:16.720
Because, you know, um, especially if if they are, like you said, where they have they with a little bit of motivation, they could go on the right path, especially those ones, you know, where you can actually make an immediate effort.
01:15:16.720 --> 01:15:21.199
Um, because you know, it's it's the environment they're growing in, like I said.
01:15:21.199 --> 01:15:26.720
Um thank goodness I didn't have a cell phone with an internet, is all I'm gonna say.
01:15:26.720 --> 01:15:31.680
Because you know, now I'm an adult, you know, I have my other interests, but as a kid, you know, you can only think of the worst stuff.
01:15:31.680 --> 01:15:32.399
Yeah.
01:15:32.399 --> 01:15:40.479
So and then, like you said, if you're in an environment where other kids are doing it, even if it's not you that you know, they're gonna lean you towards all those things.
01:15:40.479 --> 01:15:44.079
So yeah, so it's just an environment that you're in.
01:15:44.079 --> 01:15:47.039
Um, but uh no, awesome.
01:15:47.039 --> 01:15:49.600
And then uh what is your favorite thing?
01:15:49.600 --> 01:15:51.439
Because we've talked about so many things that you do.
01:15:51.439 --> 01:15:56.880
Like, what is it, like if you could choose one lane, what is it that you really want to do out of all this?
01:15:56.880 --> 01:15:58.720
Or you could be doing more, you know.
01:15:58.960 --> 01:16:03.840
As of right now, I'm still because I'm still growing in videography more.
01:16:03.840 --> 01:16:06.960
Um, and I'm really liking that.
01:16:06.960 --> 01:16:12.159
Um, so I can't really say I want to do one thing as of right now.
01:16:12.159 --> 01:16:14.399
I'm still growing into kind of figuring out.
01:16:14.399 --> 01:16:17.600
Um, of course, I think I'm still gonna do certain things on the side.
01:16:17.600 --> 01:16:23.199
You know, hey, I'm I'm probably gonna do some family photography, especially working, um, going to church.
01:16:23.199 --> 01:16:25.600
You have a lot of people that's people are always gonna approach you about that.
01:16:25.600 --> 01:16:27.279
It's gonna be graduation time.
01:16:27.279 --> 01:16:31.600
Graduation pictures and loving catch, like catching, catching that moment.
01:16:31.600 --> 01:16:37.359
And now it's like when I see that kid that I'd never spoke to before, because they're you know, they're doing their thing.
01:16:37.359 --> 01:16:44.560
Now it's like we have a connection, like, yeah, you you went here, and one girl she graduated, she made her prom dress, and I did her prom pictures.
01:16:44.560 --> 01:16:46.319
I was like, I didn't know she made her prom dress.
01:16:46.319 --> 01:16:48.479
I barely even knew how many kids you had.
01:16:48.479 --> 01:16:52.239
Yeah, and you know, you get a chance to like get that connection with people.
01:16:52.239 --> 01:16:55.920
Um, but I think I'll always do that.
01:16:55.920 --> 01:16:57.920
I don't think that's gonna be my main focus.
01:16:57.920 --> 01:17:02.880
I kind of want to work with small to medium-sized businesses and kind of help see that grow.
01:17:02.880 --> 01:17:07.920
Yeah, not just see people grow, but see like their dream grow and capturing that.
01:17:08.159 --> 01:17:10.720
Yeah, that's pretty good, you know, motivation to have.
01:17:10.720 --> 01:17:14.560
And like I said, you're yourself doing great with a partner like Quentin.
01:17:14.560 --> 01:17:16.079
I think that's incredible.
01:17:16.079 --> 01:17:19.520
And uh, I think you're only going to you know find success.
01:17:19.520 --> 01:17:23.119
Plus, this cool studio that you're building, it seems very versatile to me.
01:17:23.119 --> 01:17:30.960
Like I said, whether you want to do podcasts, you want to do um like green screen shooting now, apparently, with Ultimate or photography, you know.
01:17:30.960 --> 01:17:34.000
Yeah, I think it's a nice place that you guys have built together.
01:17:34.000 --> 01:17:35.600
It has a lot of business potential.
01:17:35.600 --> 01:17:37.359
You know, you guys gotta take my advice.
01:17:37.359 --> 01:17:40.000
I told Quentin he's gotta do a networking event there.
01:17:40.000 --> 01:17:44.399
That's the best way to like show people what you guys have been working on all these months.
01:17:44.640 --> 01:17:49.600
And yeah, that's uh is and start starting right now.
01:17:49.600 --> 01:18:00.960
Um, right now I'm getting all kind of just random photo shoots, which makes it hard to like have a clean open room because it's like, all right, I gotta do one today, and then not next week I have a day.
01:18:00.960 --> 01:18:06.640
And yeah, it just has to, I think once we get back, we're going to lock in on that and make sure that we get that done.
01:18:06.640 --> 01:18:15.119
It's just trying to, you know, when you try to in your mind, being uh, and I had to learn about this, you can't always be a perfectionist in everything.
01:18:15.279 --> 01:18:15.520
Yeah.
01:18:15.680 --> 01:18:17.279
Because you'll never get something done.
01:18:17.279 --> 01:18:21.680
You have to get it, you have to have a standard, and it can't be perfect.
01:18:21.680 --> 01:18:22.239
Yeah.
01:18:22.479 --> 01:18:27.359
Yeah, you want to have a high standard, but you don't want to have a perfect standard because perfect standard does not exist.
01:18:27.359 --> 01:18:27.760
Yeah.
01:18:27.760 --> 01:18:36.479
So you don't want to be stuck essentially um uh you know reaching that perfection that you never reach, and then hence you never get anything done, right?
01:18:36.560 --> 01:18:40.720
Yeah, so I think that's what kind of help held us back from doing the meeting meetup.
01:18:40.720 --> 01:18:44.319
So I think we're kind of in a place where it's like, all right, it has to be good enough.
01:18:44.479 --> 01:18:44.640
Yeah.
01:18:44.880 --> 01:18:52.159
And that comes sometimes that comes with age, because I was that person that would fixate on something for hours and hours and hours and hours.
01:18:52.159 --> 01:18:53.119
And I had to learn.
01:18:53.119 --> 01:18:53.600
Yeah.
01:18:53.600 --> 01:19:04.319
Well, you gotta, you know, and having kids also help with that because you know, you can't just be locked in a little room for for days at a time thinking about, oh, how does this connect to that, connect to this?
01:19:04.319 --> 01:19:09.439
So now, so I you know, and he's younger, yeah, you know, I have about 10 years on him.
01:19:09.439 --> 01:19:11.600
So I think that's some things that I'm like, hey.
01:19:11.840 --> 01:19:15.600
So you're gonna lock him in the room and let him figure out where the connection goes there.
01:19:15.600 --> 01:19:18.560
I mean, to be honest, he's the guy to figure that out.
01:19:18.560 --> 01:19:19.439
Yes, yes.
01:19:19.439 --> 01:19:22.239
Uh, I mean, but to be honest, you're already using the studio, right?
01:19:22.239 --> 01:19:29.199
I know it's not like you haven't obviously announced it like um uh whatever, like officially like done a meetup or whatever.
01:19:29.199 --> 01:19:31.520
Yes, but I'm saying it's not like you're not using the studio.
01:19:31.520 --> 01:19:36.239
It's technically already, like I said, I came that day, you already had a session going on there, right?
01:19:36.239 --> 01:19:39.359
Yeah, yeah, because he was busy, he wasn't even answering my phones.
01:19:39.359 --> 01:19:41.119
I was like, wow, he's busy, all right.
01:19:41.119 --> 01:19:42.720
So I had to drop his camera to you.
01:19:42.720 --> 01:19:44.960
Yeah, he had some other stuff going on that day.
01:19:44.960 --> 01:19:46.079
So that's what I'm saying.
01:19:46.079 --> 01:19:53.039
You guys are already doing your thing, you're using and you were using the space, so yes, seems to be already like like said being used, right?
01:19:53.279 --> 01:19:56.239
Yes, we have um we're getting a lot of positive feedback on it.
01:19:56.239 --> 01:20:00.319
So, you know, we're trying to get people to give us negative feedback and say what can we fix?
01:20:00.319 --> 01:20:03.760
But sometimes it's hard to get that um because people are just like in awe.
01:20:03.760 --> 01:20:09.520
But you know, once things kind of die down, probably the next time you come back, like, oh yeah, this thing is what I was I did forgot about that.
01:20:09.520 --> 01:20:10.880
Yeah, fix that right there.
01:20:10.880 --> 01:20:11.359
Exactly.
01:20:11.359 --> 01:20:23.680
But um, and you know, of course, getting respected opinions is always great to get, but now it's just it's time to once we get back, I think we're gonna be um working on some stuff while I'm in Africa, while we're in Africa.
01:20:23.680 --> 01:20:27.199
So when we come back, it's like building up that with everybody else.
01:20:27.199 --> 01:20:36.239
Because you know, dealing with professionals, you know, I think most of the people in our group do things outside, they go on location.
01:20:36.239 --> 01:20:40.479
So now it's just now it's time to find those people that want to do things and don't have a place to do it.
01:20:40.640 --> 01:20:40.880
Yeah.
01:20:40.880 --> 01:20:43.840
You know, that they want to come into the studio because you're right.
01:20:43.840 --> 01:20:47.520
Most of my clients, I'm going to them or going to some location.
01:20:47.520 --> 01:20:52.399
But then you will get a client, at least for me, rare occasion, who's like, I don't have an office, I just work remote.
01:20:52.399 --> 01:20:52.720
Yeah.
01:20:52.720 --> 01:20:56.079
And that's where a studio can be awesome, too, you know, be like, okay, that's fine.
01:20:56.079 --> 01:20:59.119
We have a place where we can make it look like you have an office, right?
01:20:59.119 --> 01:21:00.159
Or something like that.
01:21:00.159 --> 01:21:05.359
Um, so the it studio has its place, I don't uh especially like you said, doing photography or whatever.
01:21:05.359 --> 01:21:09.119
A lot of people may not want, you know, my home's unorganized or whatever.
01:21:09.119 --> 01:21:12.079
I want to do some family pictures, let us come to your studio or whatever.
01:21:12.079 --> 01:21:20.239
So there's stuff like that, you know, where I feel like a studio has its place, plus making it versatile, where, like you said, you have multiple ways you can use it.
01:21:20.239 --> 01:21:21.920
It doesn't have to be just one thing.
01:21:21.920 --> 01:21:27.039
It's like, hey, here's a green screen option, here's a uh, you know, podcast option or whatever.
01:21:27.039 --> 01:21:27.840
It's a neat idea.
01:21:27.840 --> 01:21:29.520
Like I said, I'm really happy for you guys.
01:21:29.520 --> 01:21:33.199
Like I said, I can't wait for it to grow, but also that's a really cool opportunity.
01:21:33.199 --> 01:21:34.319
I'm so happy for Quentin.
01:21:34.319 --> 01:21:39.279
He always gets to every year go to these awesome countries and get to film, and he gets to get paid for it.
01:21:39.279 --> 01:21:40.800
I mean, that's really cool too.
01:21:41.359 --> 01:21:46.880
Man, getting getting to go to Africa for the first time and getting paid for it is yeah, it feels great.
01:21:46.880 --> 01:21:48.079
And do something I love.
01:21:48.239 --> 01:21:48.560
Exactly.
01:21:48.560 --> 01:22:05.520
I'm telling you, people, if you're interested in doing video production and uh, you know, uh you want to travel, or or rather get paid to travel and make awesome content, get involved with your house of worship or wherever you go, get involved in the video part of it, you know, put in the hours, get volunteer.
01:22:05.520 --> 01:22:08.640
Not only are you helping increase your skill, you're getting better at it.
01:22:08.640 --> 01:22:21.039
I think the other indirect advantage of it is you on these mission trips or wherever you go, uh you have the opportunity to now tag along, get paid, you know, create awesome content and travel for free.
01:22:21.039 --> 01:22:23.439
There's multiple benefits of doing that, right?
01:22:23.439 --> 01:22:23.760
Yeah.
01:22:24.000 --> 01:22:34.399
And um another thing that we're doing at the studio, we're trying to, we're well, we're in talks with a community center of actually building out a program to actually help the youth get into this.
01:22:34.399 --> 01:22:35.359
Look at that build.
01:22:35.520 --> 01:22:37.199
Yeah, so you're gonna train the next generation.
01:22:37.439 --> 01:22:41.520
That's what we're working on because and um one of our other good friends, Troy, talked about him earlier.
01:22:41.520 --> 01:22:42.880
That's something that he wants to do as well.
01:22:42.880 --> 01:22:48.479
He wants to start an organization teaching kids how to do live production because that is mainly what he does.
01:22:48.640 --> 01:22:49.199
Yeah.
01:22:49.520 --> 01:22:54.560
And just opening up the world because this is not going away.
01:22:54.560 --> 01:22:56.560
It's not going away.
01:22:56.800 --> 01:23:00.560
Yo, video is central to what human life now, essentially.
01:23:00.560 --> 01:23:06.159
Yeah, and plus stuff like live, you know, and and video production in general and even sound.
01:23:06.159 --> 01:23:10.479
There's so much to this that is so inherently important to learn.
01:23:10.479 --> 01:23:17.600
And especially if, like you say again, go back to that, if they have the spark, the the interest, yes, uh, that could be a good place to go to bring that in.
01:23:17.600 --> 01:23:22.000
And with your education background, you guys may be the perfect people to to do it.
01:23:22.079 --> 01:23:27.920
Yeah, and that's another good reason to have a studio because we can't go and set up, oh, we're gonna have this for three hours a week.
01:23:27.920 --> 01:23:34.880
We're gonna spend two hours setting up at this community center to and then three hours breaking down because we're tired after dealing with teenagers.
01:23:34.880 --> 01:23:35.680
Yeah, exactly.
01:23:35.680 --> 01:23:36.479
You don't want to listen.
01:23:36.479 --> 01:23:37.680
That's another part of it.
01:23:37.680 --> 01:23:43.760
So we want to, you know, work and give back and um train up the next generation to be able to do what we gotta do.
01:23:43.760 --> 01:23:50.479
And um, yeah, once we got and get it started, we're gonna probably hopefully bring in people like you to talk to them and different people.
01:23:50.479 --> 01:23:59.760
I have a good friend that does sound, has a um sound company, bring them in, and you know, this industry is very is very vast in what you can do.
01:23:59.760 --> 01:24:06.720
Um you can literally some people spend their whole their whole career just on their phone doing it.
01:24:06.720 --> 01:24:11.840
Some people do it on the other end where they have, you know, a lot of equipment.
01:24:11.840 --> 01:24:12.239
Yeah.
01:24:12.239 --> 01:24:13.520
A lot of equipment.
01:24:13.520 --> 01:24:24.800
I wasn't gonna say a number, but I didn't I said no, we're this is gonna be public, so we're not, you know, he he his equipment is very it's quality, yeah, but it's not very expensive.
01:24:25.039 --> 01:24:28.319
Yeah, we need to have uh, you know, people stop mentioning.
01:24:28.319 --> 01:24:33.279
I feel like uh every person who comes here has mentioned at least each episode a little bit of the equipment.
01:24:33.279 --> 01:24:35.039
Remember, I make a living doing this.
01:24:35.039 --> 01:24:39.520
This isn't not to you, I'm just saying somebody listening will think, what is but this guy in equipment?
01:24:39.520 --> 01:24:43.600
No, I'm actually a video professional and I make money doing videos.
01:24:43.600 --> 01:24:46.560
This is just a fun thing, aside passion project.
01:24:46.560 --> 01:24:53.199
So all this gear is actually used for work and making money, but yeah, and it took 15 years to acquire everything.
01:24:53.199 --> 01:24:55.039
But yes, I do have a lot of equipment.
01:24:55.039 --> 01:25:06.880
I haven't measured it, but it has to be like I said, years ago I did 2021, it was over half a million, so I'm sure in the last few years, some has been, you know, removed, but a lot has been added, so it's probably a lot more than that now.
01:25:07.119 --> 01:25:15.920
And even be sitting here with you know, and and that sounds, of course, even saying those numbers to some people sounds like, man, I could never get up to that.
01:25:16.399 --> 01:25:19.439
But remember, if you can, if you but it depends on if you even want to.
01:25:19.439 --> 01:25:21.199
So that's been the point of this podcast.
01:25:21.199 --> 01:25:34.239
I've brought people who are running a production company like that where those numbers are realistic, but then also DPs where like, hey, you can actually be a camera operator, and then that makes that's an unnecessary because you don't need any of this.
01:25:34.239 --> 01:25:41.119
Kind of like, you know, you bring Quentin here, then he'll talk about all the equipment has, and then it's like, you're I can't get into it.
01:25:41.119 --> 01:25:51.199
But then there's people, um, you know, like Alex recently was like, I'm doing he did an A V job and he made eight grand and he had to bring nothing, you know, and they were he was slow in to the event.
01:25:51.199 --> 01:25:51.920
He did his thing.
01:25:51.920 --> 01:25:56.560
Obviously, he's technically knowledgeable, but yeah, but I'm saying is in this industry there's so many avenues.
01:25:56.560 --> 01:26:00.319
But anyway, with me, I've been trying to build a production company.
01:26:00.319 --> 01:26:01.920
Yes, and I want it to be full.
01:26:01.920 --> 01:26:06.239
And when a lot of people say we're a full, you know, production company, I want it to be legit.
01:26:06.239 --> 01:26:10.960
So we have to have lighting, camera, sound, grip, electric, you know, everything.
01:26:10.960 --> 01:26:16.720
And then when you start to slowly acquire that, eventually you end up with this and a van full of crap outside.
01:26:16.960 --> 01:26:23.920
Because even even at my stage, you know, I I've been I'm just starting to get into the wanting to do it more professional.
01:26:23.920 --> 01:26:26.640
And I have like probably $20,000 worth of equipment.
01:26:26.640 --> 01:26:28.479
And I'm like, how?
01:26:28.960 --> 01:26:29.199
Yeah.
01:26:29.199 --> 01:26:30.399
I mean, slowly, right?
01:26:30.399 --> 01:26:31.199
It's slowly.
01:26:31.199 --> 01:26:32.560
You know, you don't think about it.
01:26:32.560 --> 01:26:34.159
You could have camera here, lens here.
01:26:34.479 --> 01:26:39.199
Yeah, you and then it's like, okay, and then you know, the great thing is when you know people, you get deals sometimes.
01:26:39.199 --> 01:26:43.920
So, you know, I'm I'm quoting it at market rate, not what we actually paid for it.
01:26:43.920 --> 01:26:44.800
But you know, you start.
01:26:45.039 --> 01:26:48.800
But apparently tariffs will increase the value too, also value goes up that much.
01:26:49.840 --> 01:27:01.199
So it's like once you start adding that up, it's like, oh, I okay, yeah, I bought this $500 light, I bought this $2,000 camera, I bought a $1,500 lens, I bought a this, that, and that, you know, it adds up.
01:27:01.199 --> 01:27:11.920
So even at my scale where I'm just like literally like I could probably fit most of my stuff in a large vehicle, it's still worth more than the vehicle.
01:27:11.920 --> 01:27:13.279
And it's like, how did that happen?
01:27:13.520 --> 01:27:15.760
Yeah, and that's the nature of what we do, right?
01:27:15.760 --> 01:27:21.840
I think anyone, I'm like, equipments are important, but slowly as you do this more and more and more, you end up with tools that you need.
01:27:21.840 --> 01:27:25.119
And yeah, it ends up costing more than the vehicle you're carrying it in.
01:27:25.439 --> 01:27:32.560
And I I'll say this too, just for anybody that's watching out there, everybody feels like selling all their stuff sometimes and quitting.
01:27:32.560 --> 01:27:33.439
Trust me.
01:27:33.760 --> 01:27:35.520
Yeah, it's normal to have those feelings.
01:27:35.520 --> 01:27:37.359
But it's important not to quit.
01:27:37.920 --> 01:27:38.800
Yeah, don't quit.
01:27:38.800 --> 01:27:40.720
Keep going, keep going, keep going.
01:27:40.720 --> 01:27:49.359
But trust me, you know, especially at the stage that I'm at, you're like, I'm sitting here, you know, this I have the summer off from school.
01:27:49.359 --> 01:27:53.119
I'm trying to come back, but at a lesser capacity.
01:27:53.119 --> 01:27:55.279
How am I gonna do this?
01:27:55.279 --> 01:27:56.560
I got this amount.
01:27:56.560 --> 01:27:59.439
I'm like, man, I could just sell all this equipment and pay off my car.
01:27:59.439 --> 01:28:00.960
Yeah, exactly.
01:28:00.960 --> 01:28:08.239
You know, it's like, you know, you could sell off all your equipment and pay off your house and you know have no debt and like all right, get a corporate job.
01:28:08.319 --> 01:28:09.520
Yeah, done.
01:28:09.520 --> 01:28:10.800
Yeah, life is settled.
01:28:10.800 --> 01:28:19.680
And I think that's what what it is, you know, like you say, you see you've said well said there, because there's so many days, you know, where you know, things are not going right.
01:28:19.680 --> 01:28:36.960
You know, I can sit here and talk about yeah, how we closed that awesome deal and how we built made that awesome video, but then there are days uh where you know you send a proposal out, it gets rejected, and you do a call and it gets rejected, and you know, you I don't know, uh a couple emails come in that don't work the way you want to.
01:28:36.960 --> 01:28:44.479
I'm saying there is one of those days, or you have a pile of some tasks that you need to do that you don't want to do that are not the fun type with playing with a camera.
01:28:44.479 --> 01:28:46.640
And those are the days where you go, why am I doing this?
01:28:46.640 --> 01:28:48.319
Right, where you start to question everything.
01:28:48.319 --> 01:28:56.399
I think those are the most important days, even more than all the fun days, where you have to remember the fun days and go, that's why I do this.
01:28:56.399 --> 01:28:57.680
Because those days will come.
01:28:57.680 --> 01:29:04.159
It may not be today, I just need to get past it and and not quit, and like you said, sell off all the equipment, you know.
01:29:04.319 --> 01:29:10.239
So even with you know, I've been with my wife um almost 20 years.
01:29:10.239 --> 01:29:13.359
We've been married for 15, together for 20.
01:29:13.359 --> 01:29:15.039
So that's a long time.
01:29:15.039 --> 01:29:20.640
Yeah, this will be the first time that we've been apart this long ever.
01:29:20.640 --> 01:29:21.680
Wow.
01:29:21.680 --> 01:29:28.720
So even in the back of my mind, I'm still thinking, man, this is going to be a really weird experience.
01:29:28.880 --> 01:29:32.319
Yeah, because you're gonna be away from your family, your kids, your wife, yeah, everybody.
01:29:32.560 --> 01:29:38.479
Yep, and not knowing how well the communication is gonna be, because you know, we might be able to con talk every day, or we might not.
01:29:38.479 --> 01:29:40.399
Yeah, depending on where I'm at.
01:29:40.399 --> 01:29:42.960
I think we probably will, looking at where we're gonna be.
01:29:42.960 --> 01:29:53.680
But it's still like, you know, I'm not thinking our relationship's gonna go awry or anything, but it's like, you know, you talk to somebody every day of your life for for 20 years straight.
01:29:53.680 --> 01:29:55.920
You, you know, you you're well, it depends.
01:29:56.000 --> 01:29:57.199
How does she feel about you leaving?
01:29:57.279 --> 01:30:00.800
That though she's you know, you know, she's she's like very excited.
01:30:00.880 --> 01:30:03.439
She's like, go, she's like, no, you're not.
01:30:03.600 --> 01:30:24.399
Well, she's excited for me because of the experience that I'm gonna have, but also I know she's like, man, I'm gonna have these kids all day, 24-7, have to take him to practice, still have to work, yeah, and you know, deal with her daughter, you know, even you know, my schedule's still kind of crazy now, but it's like, hey, okay, at least a day of the week I'm not working generally speaking.
01:30:24.399 --> 01:30:30.000
Yeah, I have a day off, or I'll be able to take the kids, or just hey, get away from your mom, come let's have ice cream or something.
01:30:30.000 --> 01:30:32.319
I don't know, whatever, or cook a meal or something.
01:30:32.319 --> 01:30:34.239
Now it's gonna be her.
01:30:34.479 --> 01:30:36.399
Yeah, two and a half weeks at least, right?
01:30:36.640 --> 01:30:37.039
Yes.
01:30:37.039 --> 01:30:50.560
And I mean, we've had it where I've gone away for about a week-ish, about a week, or when when they went to Tennessee, my wife took my son to Tennessee, so it was just her and him, but he was at the camp, so she was by herself.
01:30:50.560 --> 01:30:56.640
So there is that, but it's like 17 days not seeing them for the first time.
01:30:56.640 --> 01:31:01.359
It's a very exciting experience, but it's also like, man, what am I gonna do?
01:31:01.520 --> 01:31:04.399
Yeah, you'll you'll figure out.
01:31:04.399 --> 01:31:08.800
I mean, you'll know immediately how you feel as you get on that plane.
01:31:08.800 --> 01:31:11.920
But I mean, what you are going on is incredible in nature, too.
01:31:11.920 --> 01:31:14.319
You know, it's kind of like the pros and cons of everything.
01:31:14.319 --> 01:31:18.159
So, and like I say, you're going with somebody, you know, nice who's been there already.
01:31:18.159 --> 01:31:21.359
Quentin will make you try all the pizzas in Africa.
01:31:21.359 --> 01:31:27.279
It's so funny that guy all of it in Africa only to eat pizza.
01:31:27.359 --> 01:31:28.800
So I I understand.
01:31:28.800 --> 01:31:30.720
I mean, I understand what he's saying.
01:31:30.720 --> 01:31:33.680
You know, we've had talks about it, and it's like you're going there to work.
01:31:33.680 --> 01:31:38.239
So I so my uncle used to um run McDonald's in the Caribbean, right?
01:31:38.239 --> 01:31:38.560
Okay.
01:31:38.560 --> 01:31:40.479
So when I was younger, I went to go visit him.
01:31:40.479 --> 01:31:45.600
Um, me and my sister, and he stayed in Puerto Rico, and we went to St.
01:31:45.600 --> 01:31:46.319
Martin.
01:31:46.319 --> 01:31:48.479
I was sick the whole entire time.
01:31:48.479 --> 01:31:53.439
There was the McDonald's street, other stuff, beach.
01:31:53.439 --> 01:31:55.279
Didn't go to the beach one day.
01:31:55.279 --> 01:31:57.920
The whole time.
01:31:57.920 --> 01:31:59.760
I I I don't know what it was.
01:31:59.760 --> 01:32:00.000
Yeah.
01:32:00.000 --> 01:32:04.720
So you don't want to go on, you know, that was me wasting my parents' money and his money.
01:32:04.720 --> 01:32:07.520
But imagine going somewhere to work and you're sick the whole time.
01:32:07.520 --> 01:32:10.319
So it's like, yeah, I kind of want to keep it a little bit safe.
01:32:10.319 --> 01:32:13.199
So I understand where it's like, just try pizza.
01:32:13.199 --> 01:32:21.119
I might try a dish or two, but I don't want to go over there and just, you know, not to be graphic, but be on the toilet the whole time.
01:32:22.399 --> 01:32:23.760
I mean, it can't be that bad.
01:32:23.760 --> 01:32:24.319
I mean, I get it.
01:32:24.319 --> 01:32:24.960
You have to be careful.
01:32:25.359 --> 01:32:31.199
Yeah, so I'm I want to be a little, I'm gonna be a little bit more adventurous, but you know, I understand this, you know, just not just going crazy.
01:32:31.359 --> 01:32:32.000
Yeah, exactly.
01:32:32.000 --> 01:32:33.199
No, I I totally get it.
01:32:33.199 --> 01:32:37.840
You are going there to work, technically, you're not going there, even though it's kind of like a vacation.
01:32:37.840 --> 01:32:38.479
But it's still working.
01:32:38.479 --> 01:32:38.880
It's gonna be fun.
01:32:38.880 --> 01:32:39.199
You know, yeah.
01:32:39.199 --> 01:32:39.760
It's gonna be fun.
01:32:39.760 --> 01:32:40.479
I'm so excited.
01:32:40.479 --> 01:32:42.960
All right, before we go, we're on the tail end of this thing.
01:32:42.960 --> 01:32:44.800
Uh, anything you want to talk about?
01:32:44.800 --> 01:32:46.640
Uh anything I haven't mentioned?
01:32:46.640 --> 01:32:47.520
Any stories?
01:32:47.760 --> 01:32:50.960
So I okay, I guess I will ask you this question.
01:32:50.960 --> 01:33:07.119
So I'm in a space right now where I'm starting to go into the professional realm of what I'm doing, and sometimes people have, and I'm pretty sure other people are going through this too, how to get out of being what everybody sees you as the cheap person.
01:33:07.119 --> 01:33:09.840
Because they're like, oh, you're not professional.
01:33:09.840 --> 01:33:17.199
You're doing it, even though they see you doing that, and sometimes, you know, going like going to the game is one of those things that kind of helps validate you.
01:33:17.199 --> 01:33:22.319
And honestly, you don't need to be the greatest person to capture certain things.
01:33:22.319 --> 01:33:22.560
Yeah.
01:33:22.560 --> 01:33:26.079
But hey, I've been with this person, I went to here, I've been to there.
01:33:26.079 --> 01:33:34.239
And that kind of tries you try to help have people val that validate you, but how do you get past that point of being the cheap guy?
01:33:34.239 --> 01:33:39.760
Not even necessarily cheap, but like the from the professional side.
01:33:39.760 --> 01:33:40.319
Okay.
01:33:41.279 --> 01:33:43.119
And again, my advice, my opinion.
01:33:43.119 --> 01:33:43.680
Yeah.
01:33:43.680 --> 01:33:49.039
Try the only way to be cheap, not the cheap guy is to not be the cheap guy.
01:33:49.039 --> 01:33:54.560
I know it sounds silly, but like when somebody asks you a price, you should say the price that you want it to be.
01:33:54.560 --> 01:33:56.720
The answer will be no, and that's okay.
01:33:56.720 --> 01:33:58.239
I hope that makes sense.
01:33:58.239 --> 01:33:59.600
It's it's one of those things.
01:33:59.600 --> 01:34:01.520
You have an advantage.
01:34:01.520 --> 01:34:02.960
Now, a lot of people can't do this.
01:34:02.960 --> 01:34:07.760
Let's say you are already making a living as a photographer, videographer, that's your all thing.
01:34:07.760 --> 01:34:13.119
So you cannot have hundred percent no's you got bills to pay, and that's how people have a hard time moving.
01:34:13.119 --> 01:34:23.520
But if you have a nine to five, you have a school that somebody's paying your bills, it may not obviously you want supplement, you have invested money in the gear, but I'm saying the the truth is you have to just say no.
01:34:23.520 --> 01:34:24.880
And now it's different.
01:34:24.880 --> 01:34:28.720
Uh, I'm not saying say no to a friend, like if Quincy's like, come help me, that's a different thing.
01:34:28.720 --> 01:34:35.359
But I'm saying to your end clients, you should work at the rate you want to, where you think it's fair for you.
01:34:35.359 --> 01:34:51.680
As in, like, you should ask around to other photographers, you should ask around to you know whoever you know you think is at what you're doing at the level of work that you're doing, and then you should see what they're charging, and then you should come up with a rate that also you're happy, you're like where you are excited to make their photos, right?
01:34:51.680 --> 01:34:53.039
And then you should just charge that.
01:34:53.039 --> 01:34:53.760
Simple as that.
01:34:53.760 --> 01:34:58.399
The answer will be no and no and no until it's a yes, and then it'll be a yes.
01:34:58.399 --> 01:35:06.479
And those people will refer you to more people who can say yes, because uh the way most of the time you get clients, obviously, you can do ads and stuff, that's a different thing.
01:35:06.479 --> 01:35:10.000
But I'm saying the family that paid you the price that you wanted them to pay.
01:35:10.000 --> 01:35:13.600
Let's say you're like, I charge $500 for a shoot, now I'm gonna charge $1,000, right?
01:35:13.600 --> 01:35:17.680
So the family that paid you a thousand most likely knows other families that can pay a thousand, right?
01:35:17.680 --> 01:35:19.680
So they'll refer you if they love their photos, right?
01:35:19.680 --> 01:35:22.960
You do the because now you're happy, you're gonna do an incredible job.
01:35:22.960 --> 01:35:27.039
Maybe throw a couple extra photos in it, do a good thing, and maybe edit them better.
01:35:27.039 --> 01:35:27.520
I don't know.
01:35:27.520 --> 01:35:34.159
I'm just saying, because if you get paid, the the idea isn't the money, the idea is you wanna do your best.
01:35:34.159 --> 01:35:38.399
Yes, and when you do their best, they see it and then they recommend you to someone else, right?
01:35:38.399 --> 01:35:39.520
That's the the formula.
01:35:39.520 --> 01:35:51.760
Yeah, so if you do your best, you go above and beyond, like you promised them something, you do more than that, you have a good time because you got paid what you wanted to get paid, they love the photos, now they go tell their you know friends.
01:35:51.760 --> 01:35:54.640
I'm saying they'll come back and now they'll ask them how much did you pay?
01:35:54.640 --> 01:35:56.000
You pay a thousand, right?
01:35:56.000 --> 01:35:58.239
And then now they already know what the price is.
01:35:58.239 --> 01:35:59.520
Yeah, I hope that makes sense.
01:35:59.520 --> 01:36:03.359
There's no way to go to a client that paid you $500, and and there's a chance.
01:36:03.359 --> 01:36:04.560
I know some people have done it.
01:36:04.560 --> 01:36:08.079
They made a $200 client, and then next thing they charge them a thousand bucks.
01:36:08.079 --> 01:36:09.920
Usually, though, that's not gonna happen.
01:36:09.920 --> 01:36:10.720
Yeah, right?
01:36:10.720 --> 01:36:15.119
They'll find somebody else and be like, Oh, yeah, I can't afford that because that's what they're expecting now.
01:36:15.119 --> 01:36:17.119
So usually you don't move clients.
01:36:17.119 --> 01:36:20.720
My thing is you have to find a new clientele, that's just what it is.
01:36:20.720 --> 01:36:25.760
And uh you should set your rate and you should find people and who are willing to pay that rate.
01:36:25.760 --> 01:36:29.520
Now, it may be difficult in the beginning, which is why you want to have a 95 until then.
01:36:29.520 --> 01:36:33.119
And then when you do, then like you said, you do your best.
01:36:33.119 --> 01:36:38.000
Don't cut corners, don't and then you know, like I said, they'll refer, and then it's like a web, right?
01:36:38.000 --> 01:36:42.319
The more you do, the longer you do this, the bigger the web gets, and then that's your rate.
01:36:42.319 --> 01:36:46.880
But then you always have this struggle in life because then they're like, now I need to up my rate again.
01:36:46.880 --> 01:36:48.720
Yeah, then you start again.
01:36:48.720 --> 01:36:50.159
It it is a thing, though.
01:36:50.159 --> 01:36:51.680
Then good luck getting these people.
01:36:51.680 --> 01:36:57.600
There's a high chance some may come back for a little higher rate, but usually the that tier is that tier.
01:36:57.600 --> 01:36:59.359
Then you start again, right?
01:36:59.359 --> 01:37:01.039
Then you have to go start all that again.
01:37:01.039 --> 01:37:04.159
So usually it's like pick a rate that you're happy at that you want to make.
01:37:04.159 --> 01:37:05.359
That's also reasonable.
01:37:05.359 --> 01:37:09.039
Yeah if you never get a yes, then you are the problem, you know.
01:37:09.039 --> 01:37:13.119
But it's okay, like in the big thousand dollars for exactly one headshot.
01:37:13.439 --> 01:37:14.720
Well, I'm not Peter Peter Hurley, yeah.
01:37:14.720 --> 01:37:15.680
I don't know if you ever heard of him.
01:37:16.000 --> 01:37:16.960
I've heard the name, yeah.
01:37:17.279 --> 01:37:18.880
That guy charges like a couple grand.
01:37:19.199 --> 01:37:19.520
Yeah.
01:37:19.520 --> 01:37:21.439
So I mean, yeah.
01:37:21.439 --> 01:37:23.199
If if you can, and you have the club.
01:37:23.199 --> 01:37:25.600
See, the thing is, it's also a skill thing.
01:37:25.600 --> 01:37:29.359
What I'm saying is like I don't know.
01:37:29.359 --> 01:37:35.039
And you know, you as you progress, you start taking photos, you know, they're good, but they're not there.
01:37:35.039 --> 01:37:43.279
Then the next level, then the tier above, and they're the tier above, and then there's that guy, and you know, there's all levels, and then you should charge at your level.
01:37:43.279 --> 01:37:46.800
My thing is if everyone's saying yes to you, your rates are too low.
01:37:46.800 --> 01:37:49.840
Yeah, if everyone's saying no to you, rates are high.
01:37:49.840 --> 01:37:51.520
But sometimes that's rare.
01:37:51.520 --> 01:37:54.000
That's what we were talking about, is switching clientele.
01:37:54.000 --> 01:37:57.359
So usually I'm saying that's the easiest way to adjust, right?
01:37:57.359 --> 01:38:00.079
But usually you are stuck in a clientele.
01:38:00.079 --> 01:38:08.159
Let's say you're a student, you come out, you charge 100 bucks to make a music video, shooting, editing, providing equipment, everything, right?
01:38:08.159 --> 01:38:09.359
Sounds good as a student.
01:38:09.359 --> 01:38:11.359
You're like, yeah, I can make one in a few hours.
01:38:11.359 --> 01:38:14.079
It's just, you know, obviously the tier of music is low.
01:38:14.079 --> 01:38:17.600
Then you go to 200, you go to 300, you go to 400, and you're like, I'm good.
01:38:17.600 --> 01:38:20.399
And now you're like, I'm stuck at $500 music videos.
01:38:20.399 --> 01:38:21.039
Because guess what?
01:38:21.039 --> 01:38:23.760
After that, the the level jump is huge, right?
01:38:23.760 --> 01:38:28.399
You can't make that usually, but I'm saying with a phone and a computer, like you can.
01:38:28.399 --> 01:38:31.279
And then that takes an effort, and that's usually it is.
01:38:31.279 --> 01:38:35.680
You have to find out, and if you don't know, also I want to say that because people are like, I don't know.
01:38:35.680 --> 01:38:37.359
That's when you go find somebody else.
01:38:37.359 --> 01:38:44.640
Then you find somebody else who is charging that kind of money, and you say, Hey, let me come hang out with you on a shoot or something.
01:38:44.640 --> 01:38:52.880
See what they do for that kind of money because it's not just charging certain money, exactly, and then I'm saying then you know, okay, you're like, Oh, sure, I I'll replicate that, right?
01:38:52.880 --> 01:38:58.319
I'll give that level of quality, I'll bring that level of equipment, and now you can start charging that.
01:38:58.319 --> 01:39:00.800
And it may take a while to start building new clientele.
01:39:00.800 --> 01:39:02.159
Yeah, I hope that answers the question.
01:39:02.159 --> 01:39:11.279
The point is, you yeah, if you are in that low tier pricing, I'm saying you have to just sometimes just completely start from scratch with completely new tier of clientele.
01:39:11.279 --> 01:39:12.399
Yeah, which is tough.
01:39:13.039 --> 01:39:20.479
Yeah, I was starting so one thing that I don't shoot a lot of because I don't want to, is weddings.
01:39:20.479 --> 01:39:20.960
Yeah.
01:39:20.960 --> 01:39:25.199
Every time I do a wedding, I say, I need to charge more.
01:39:25.199 --> 01:39:26.159
Yeah.
01:39:26.159 --> 01:39:32.000
And I think I heard you talk about that with somebody on one of the other podcasts about the weddings.
01:39:32.000 --> 01:39:34.000
It's hard work.
01:39:34.560 --> 01:39:36.720
And remember, it's also it's different.
01:39:36.720 --> 01:39:44.159
See, when a family comes to you, you have the ability to make them laugh, smile, get to know them, make them comfortable.
01:39:44.159 --> 01:39:48.079
And and again, I'm not saying that each one is better, it's just different art form.
01:39:48.079 --> 01:39:57.199
Uh, versus a vetting, uh, you know, you can't, I mean, sometimes you can stage them, I'm saying, but usually you can't control the situation a lot, right?
01:39:57.199 --> 01:39:59.520
So you have to roll with the punches, unless you're just in point.
01:39:59.520 --> 01:40:00.399
Yeah, there you go.
01:40:00.399 --> 01:40:03.840
Then you can maybe you can be like, it's gonna be on YouTube.
01:40:03.840 --> 01:40:09.359
Anyway, but you know, the point I'm trying to make is you're rolling with the punches, yeah.
01:40:09.359 --> 01:40:11.840
And you know, and that's why it's a different art form.
01:40:11.840 --> 01:40:19.760
You have to just obviously figure out how to give the most, and it's it may not be for for you, and obviously, and that's okay, and that's why people like weddings are not for me.
01:40:19.760 --> 01:40:22.239
I can go make corporate videos all day every day.
01:40:22.399 --> 01:40:25.920
And I will tell you, Indian weddings are uh amazing, yeah.
01:40:25.920 --> 01:40:27.199
They are amazing.
01:40:27.199 --> 01:40:30.800
I mean, if you like them, then they're like the end product.
01:40:30.800 --> 01:40:36.159
Yeah, I'm saying the end product is I can make when they go all out and they have like the week long, and I'm like, man.
01:40:36.640 --> 01:40:39.760
No, I mean they're amazing for people who love, like I said, people that love doing them.
01:40:39.760 --> 01:40:45.199
Yeah, I grew up, you know, obviously watching enough weddings or going to enough weddings, and it was like it's awesome on one way, you know.
01:40:45.199 --> 01:40:48.079
Like I said, as a kid, I loved all the snacks and food you could eat.
01:40:48.079 --> 01:40:52.159
I'm like, you know, sky's the limit because it's usually buffet style or whatever.
01:40:52.159 --> 01:40:54.319
But you know, there's the other side of it.
01:40:54.319 --> 01:40:56.479
As an adult, I was like, do I ever want this party?
01:40:56.479 --> 01:40:57.680
No, but some people love it.
01:40:57.680 --> 01:41:07.359
Like I said, it's a whole thing, you know, usually five days, you know, and then there's so many ceremonies, there's so many people, but it's like it's on the on it on it uh like attending.
01:41:07.359 --> 01:41:08.560
I I'm not a big fan.
01:41:08.560 --> 01:41:14.399
I mean, there are parties if you really like enjoying parties, but as a photographer, videographer, there are a lot of money.
01:41:14.399 --> 01:41:20.079
You can charge a lot of money because there's a lot of days, there's a lot of work, but it's a lot, it's a lot of work, yeah.
01:41:20.079 --> 01:41:21.119
It is a lot, yeah.
01:41:21.119 --> 01:41:22.159
Yeah, yeah.
01:41:22.159 --> 01:41:26.000
And and now some people I know will condense it, do it for a couple of days or whatever.
01:41:26.000 --> 01:41:29.199
But it's still, I'm saying you are you do have the ability to charge a lot.
01:41:29.199 --> 01:41:34.880
Now, obviously, not all Indians will pay high price again, because they can be cheap, but they can also be very spendy.
01:41:34.880 --> 01:41:36.800
This is so funny thing about Indians.
01:41:36.800 --> 01:41:41.920
At one point, they're like so cheap, but then on weddings they just blow money like nothing, so you never know.
01:41:41.920 --> 01:41:44.079
Uh, but no, it's a good avenue.
01:41:44.079 --> 01:41:50.960
If you like, again, if you like doing wedding video photo, there's a lot of money in it, especially like you said, Indian weddings or just even a regular American.
01:41:51.279 --> 01:41:52.399
Yeah, but they're just they're just amazing.
01:41:52.399 --> 01:41:53.840
I just yeah, I just like looking at them.
01:41:53.920 --> 01:41:57.199
Yeah, I mean, hey, if you enjoy it, then you should take more of those for photos, no?
01:41:57.760 --> 01:41:58.079
I don't know.
01:41:58.079 --> 01:41:58.720
You don't want to do it?
01:41:58.720 --> 01:41:59.520
Like on the outside.
01:41:59.520 --> 01:42:01.680
I'm saying as a as a person watching it.
01:42:01.920 --> 01:42:02.239
Okay.
01:42:02.239 --> 01:42:04.000
Yes, that was great.
01:42:04.399 --> 01:42:07.119
But the person doing it, I'm like, man, like Yeah.
01:42:07.199 --> 01:42:08.079
No, I don't do weddings.
01:42:08.479 --> 01:42:11.680
12 hour day for a week and then have to edit that.
01:42:12.560 --> 01:42:17.039
Golly, I gotta Yeah, and then you have to understand what to edit where because you know certainly ceremony.
01:42:17.039 --> 01:42:18.079
Yeah, exactly.
01:42:18.079 --> 01:42:22.560
I'm like, uh for me, like I said, I stay away from weddings, photo video.
01:42:22.560 --> 01:42:23.039
Yeah.
01:42:23.039 --> 01:42:29.920
Um, but I I have brought enough people on here who do that because I want people to know that's a very good avenue to make a good living.
01:42:29.920 --> 01:42:30.399
It is.
01:42:30.399 --> 01:42:33.359
I don't think you should say no to that because even I had dogs.
01:42:33.359 --> 01:42:34.239
Try it out.
01:42:34.239 --> 01:42:38.079
Even he was like, he does weddings, because try I would say try it out.
01:42:38.239 --> 01:42:39.840
Because it's like it, yeah.
01:42:39.840 --> 01:42:45.119
Um is if if you have the opportunity to try a wedding out, try it as a second shooter first.
01:42:45.600 --> 01:42:47.359
Or don't ruin somebody's wedding.
01:42:47.359 --> 01:42:48.000
Yeah, yeah.
01:42:48.159 --> 01:42:48.720
Do that.
01:42:48.720 --> 01:42:52.560
Um, because I would tell you the lower price weddings, they want you to do more.
01:42:52.560 --> 01:43:02.640
My only I think I've had one and a half two people that were kind of not uh, and that'll be the next question I guess I ask you, that weren't fully satisfied.
01:43:02.640 --> 01:43:10.479
One was they wanted to pay barely anything for a full-day wedding, photography and videography.
01:43:10.479 --> 01:43:17.119
And I just pulled on my wife just to move the first the main camera, just to you know, but it's just me.
01:43:17.119 --> 01:43:19.920
Okay, so I'm not gonna be able to capture everything.
01:43:20.079 --> 01:43:20.399
Yeah.
01:43:20.800 --> 01:43:30.880
And then even their pastor, they try to complain to their pastor, because I know him, and he was like, You you wanted something where you need like three people to do it, and you have one person doing it.
01:43:30.880 --> 01:43:32.720
He's not gonna be able to capture everything.
01:43:32.720 --> 01:43:34.000
You want a picture of the kiss?
01:43:34.000 --> 01:43:36.239
I can't do video of the kiss.
01:43:36.239 --> 01:43:36.800
Yeah.
01:43:36.960 --> 01:43:39.600
So and then Oh, you were doing both photo and video.
01:43:39.600 --> 01:43:42.159
Oh yeah, so why'd you say yes?
01:43:42.880 --> 01:43:44.000
That was I was starting out.
01:43:44.000 --> 01:43:44.640
Okay, yeah.
01:43:44.720 --> 01:43:46.399
See that that's fair then.
01:43:46.399 --> 01:43:49.600
Uh, because um And there's a way, there is a way to do it.
01:43:49.760 --> 01:43:50.960
There is a way to do it.
01:43:51.760 --> 01:43:53.199
I will disagree, but sure.
01:43:53.600 --> 01:43:54.720
It's not going to be great.
01:43:54.720 --> 01:43:55.039
Yeah.
01:43:55.119 --> 01:43:55.760
Well, that's what I'm saying.
01:43:56.319 --> 01:44:02.960
It's not gonna be great, but if it's just like, hey, I just want to have it, you know, just hey, you know, some people might just put up a phone in the background.
01:44:02.960 --> 01:44:10.640
So you're doing that better, and then maybe you're not taking pictures of the ceremony, you're taking pictures of the in-between.
01:44:10.640 --> 01:44:15.760
So there's like stuff like that, yeah, but you're never gonna really capture the wedding fully with one person.
01:44:16.000 --> 01:44:21.760
Yeah, and and my thing is it takes usually a couple of people to do in video video by itself, yeah.
01:44:21.760 --> 01:44:26.000
It takes four people to do all to actually capture a wedding, you need at least four people.
01:44:26.000 --> 01:44:27.840
Two pictures, two video.
01:44:27.840 --> 01:44:28.399
There you go.
01:44:28.399 --> 01:44:29.520
So that's what I'm saying.
01:44:29.520 --> 01:44:33.760
If you make it one person, you're just it's just not gonna possibly do it correctly.
01:44:33.760 --> 01:44:37.680
I'm sure there's some genius watching this who's like, let me show you.
01:44:37.680 --> 01:44:39.920
And then they're an exception, I'm saying.
01:44:39.920 --> 01:44:41.680
But usually, and that's okay.
01:44:41.680 --> 01:44:45.840
When you're starting out, you do and tend to take I think deals like that.
01:44:45.840 --> 01:44:47.840
And that's that's what the point of this is.
01:44:47.840 --> 01:44:53.199
Please don't take those deals because you're like, there's better options out there, but you almost might as well do it for free.
01:44:53.199 --> 01:44:59.119
But then the thing, the problem is I would never say, I would say if somebody tells you to do both photo and video, don't say yes.
01:44:59.119 --> 01:45:00.399
Uh, even if it's free.
01:45:00.399 --> 01:45:00.880
I don't care.
01:45:00.880 --> 01:45:03.039
Yeah, I think you would you should pick.
01:45:03.039 --> 01:45:06.399
You would tell them that hey, I can do one or the other.
01:45:06.399 --> 01:45:07.600
Which one do you want me to do?
01:45:07.600 --> 01:45:09.760
Or choose or tell them which one you can do, whichever you prefer.
01:45:10.000 --> 01:45:14.640
And if you don't take this advice, the first time you do it, you won't do it again.
01:45:14.800 --> 01:45:15.439
Yeah.
01:45:15.439 --> 01:45:18.640
Well, they were just not happy because obviously it's not your problem.
01:45:18.960 --> 01:45:29.840
They were they were they and the other thing about weddings is the you gotta find out what they want and audio is probably probably the biggest thing with weddings.
01:45:29.840 --> 01:45:31.920
How to capture good audio.
01:45:31.920 --> 01:45:39.520
You gotta mic the groom and you gotta mic the official and if you're one person doing video, you're not gonna get it.
01:45:39.520 --> 01:45:41.199
So you gotta set expectation.
01:45:41.199 --> 01:45:44.800
Hey, you want one person to do video, recap video.
01:45:44.800 --> 01:45:45.279
Yeah.
01:45:45.600 --> 01:45:51.680
I think uh the thing from there to learn, and and I'm sure you already have, like you said, you obviously you come a long way from that.
01:45:51.680 --> 01:46:00.399
It's just that like clients A don't understand what we do, yeah, or can be cheap, or you know, make unreasonable requests sometimes.
01:46:00.399 --> 01:46:02.960
You know, we don't believe, I don't believe in the world.
01:46:02.960 --> 01:46:09.920
I believe highly in client uh uh experience, taking care of them, giving them an amazing experience.
01:46:09.920 --> 01:46:14.239
But that's not the same thing as saying yes to unreasonable requests, yeah.
01:46:14.239 --> 01:46:15.600
Those are two different things.
01:46:15.600 --> 01:46:18.000
So clients will always come and they'll say things like that.
01:46:18.000 --> 01:46:21.119
Like I said, the answer you, and like I said, I get it.
01:46:21.119 --> 01:46:25.520
When you're new, you're starting out, especially if they're offering money, you just want to say yes to everything.
01:46:25.520 --> 01:46:26.960
But personally, that's what I would do.
01:46:26.960 --> 01:46:28.319
It's like it's it's impossible.
01:46:28.319 --> 01:46:30.399
Like genuinely, like it's not being rude.
01:46:30.399 --> 01:46:35.199
It's like, hey, yeah, it's impossible for one person to capture a wedding, photo or video.
01:46:35.199 --> 01:46:36.640
Here's what I can do for you.
01:46:36.640 --> 01:46:40.640
I can do video, here's my pricing, which can be now low if you're new.
01:46:40.640 --> 01:46:43.680
That's okay to me, in my opinion, or even free if it's your first wedding.
01:46:43.680 --> 01:46:46.800
But then I would be up front and be like, look, this is my first wedding.
01:46:46.800 --> 01:46:48.239
I want to build a portfolio.
01:46:48.239 --> 01:46:56.079
There's a contract if you sign it that I can use this for promotional purposes, I will happily record it free for you, but I can only do this.
01:46:56.079 --> 01:47:00.880
And then I would still go to a friend and ask them to be a second shooter for free, being honest.
01:47:00.880 --> 01:47:02.560
I would not do it alone, but you can.
01:47:02.560 --> 01:47:09.359
I'm saying if you approach, it's not the end of the world, but I would definitely never do both, and that's the advice at least I would give to people, you know.
01:47:09.600 --> 01:47:25.520
Yeah, and um the first time I did a wedding with whatever side it was the first time I did a wedding and and actually contracted it and had a videographer and a photographer, it was so great because those days are long, and at least just having somebody there with you.
01:47:25.600 --> 01:47:28.319
Yeah, and and like I said, they're also taking the workload off.
01:47:28.319 --> 01:47:29.439
Yes, exactly.
01:47:29.600 --> 01:47:39.039
So if I'm the videographer and somebody else is the photographer, there's times where I don't need to tape anything, like when they're taking their pictures, so I just help pose people, yeah, make his day easier.
01:47:39.039 --> 01:47:45.039
When I need to video certain things, he's there to kind of help me out, or have the other people and distract them so I can do this.
01:47:45.279 --> 01:47:45.760
There you go.
01:47:45.920 --> 01:47:46.800
So you have that.
01:47:46.800 --> 01:47:52.000
Um, so I'm gonna ask this question and think about the past, right?
01:47:52.000 --> 01:47:54.800
Because now I'm pretty sure you will handle it a lot differently.
01:47:54.800 --> 01:47:55.039
Yeah.
01:47:55.039 --> 01:47:57.199
And you probably wouldn't have many of those.
01:47:57.199 --> 01:48:05.680
In the past, more in the beginning, middle stages, how would you deal with customers or clients that weren't completely satisfied?
01:48:06.399 --> 01:48:12.479
You're not gonna a lot of people won't believe that I've never really had a dissatisfied client.
01:48:12.479 --> 01:48:17.520
Couple of because I don't I again, I said I I yeah, just don't say no.
01:48:17.520 --> 01:48:20.960
Uh, I could probably go more to my actual nine to five job than I used to have it.
01:48:20.960 --> 01:48:25.199
There are a lot of clients, but that wasn't me because there's a company they were mad at, right?
01:48:25.199 --> 01:48:30.800
But I'm saying as far as video goes, I normally I've only done stuff, like I said, where where I was happy.
01:48:30.800 --> 01:48:33.359
Now, clients, like I said, have made unreasonable requests.
01:48:33.359 --> 01:48:40.479
Like, for example, I'll tell you one of the earlier gigs, somebody wanted me to shoot something, so we contracted, I'll come out for two days or whatever, right?
01:48:40.479 --> 01:48:42.239
They'll pay me and then I'll edit it.
01:48:42.239 --> 01:48:43.359
That's the scope of work.
01:48:43.359 --> 01:48:44.319
I always did that.
01:48:44.319 --> 01:48:46.239
And then they're like, hey, today's the nice weather.
01:48:46.239 --> 01:48:49.199
Why don't you for an hour go collect some footage from that area?
01:48:49.199 --> 01:48:53.119
And I was like, sure, but that's gonna be an additional 200 bucks.
01:48:53.119 --> 01:48:54.960
Even when I'm starting, I'm like, I'm not going.
01:48:54.960 --> 01:48:56.000
Why would I?
01:48:56.000 --> 01:48:57.199
That's not in the scope.
01:48:57.199 --> 01:49:02.079
I was like, if I spend your full production day for that silly thing, that makes no sense.
01:49:02.079 --> 01:49:05.119
Remember, we gotta do a second production day because we've only done one.
01:49:05.119 --> 01:49:06.720
So I presented it like that.
01:49:06.720 --> 01:49:15.039
I was like, hey, I gotta remember, we don't want to spend the production day on this, so let's save that for the real shoot day where we need to do all this.
01:49:15.039 --> 01:49:22.319
How about I just for a couple hours give me a couple hundred bucks or whatever I said, I don't remember the exact amount, uh, maybe 150, something like that.
01:49:22.319 --> 01:49:32.239
And then that too, so the answer was yeah, because like we're not playing around here, but at the same time, I would I'm if I'm new, I'm not gonna charge obviously thousands or all hours, like on how it would be for a shoot day.
01:49:32.239 --> 01:49:39.039
But ultimately, the the that's how I approached it, and maybe I'm different, but I was always like, I'm not gonna let anyone take advantage of me.
01:49:39.039 --> 01:49:46.079
Now, funny enough, actually, recently I was getting a couple of examples where clients were dissatisfied, and it's funny, it had nothing to do with me.
01:49:46.079 --> 01:49:52.319
So uh one time um this guy was there, we were recording an event, it went amazing.
01:49:52.319 --> 01:49:59.760
Like I contracted with them, and I always go above and beyond, so I charge them, which I think was very reasonable for like an hour long speech.
01:49:59.760 --> 01:50:05.199
And that actually was way longer, but to cut it down to an hour, and I'm talking fairly technical.
01:50:05.199 --> 01:50:15.439
Uh, I brought like four, uh no, one, two, six, six people, one guy on literal Ronin, and you know, gimbal and FX6 is everywhere, dude.
01:50:15.439 --> 01:50:16.399
For five, six grand.
01:50:16.399 --> 01:50:18.720
Like, I I know my rates are low, I'm not joking.
01:50:18.720 --> 01:50:20.720
And I'm good because I'm like, this is easy.
01:50:20.720 --> 01:50:24.960
A couple hours, everyone gets paid, life is good, but also, you know, we get to edit.
01:50:24.960 --> 01:50:28.960
So, in one way, like it's like good money, but the other way, I'm like, it's reasonable for what I brought.
01:50:28.960 --> 01:50:30.319
Yeah, everything went amazing.
01:50:30.319 --> 01:50:32.399
They're like, Yeah, you guys are great, blah, blah, blah.
01:50:32.399 --> 01:50:33.439
Best team ever.
01:50:33.439 --> 01:50:37.279
We give the video, and you know, obviously, we notice it, but we didn't say anything.
01:50:37.279 --> 01:50:40.800
Uh, it's a live speech in front of like I'm saying hundreds and hundreds of people.
01:50:40.800 --> 01:50:43.279
His pocket, he's wearing a suit, right?
01:50:43.279 --> 01:50:46.960
Went came out, and because you know, I guess he had his hands or whatever.
01:50:46.960 --> 01:50:48.319
We have nothing, we're back of the house.
01:50:48.319 --> 01:50:49.439
You know how it is on risers.
01:50:49.439 --> 01:50:55.680
And you and you can you're not gonna go there and say, Stop! Yeah, and funny enough, yeah, we noticed it, but I'm like, Well, this is edited.
01:50:55.680 --> 01:50:58.399
The thing we delivered, they signed off the video too.
01:50:58.399 --> 01:50:59.840
They remember, they haven't even still noticed it.
01:50:59.840 --> 01:51:03.119
They was like, This is incredible, let's add subtitles, everything's done.
01:51:03.119 --> 01:51:04.399
So I made even more money.
01:51:04.399 --> 01:51:06.720
But yeah, we can add subtitles.
01:51:06.720 --> 01:51:07.760
Life is good.
01:51:07.760 --> 01:51:09.600
Anyway, done, signed off.
01:51:09.600 --> 01:51:11.680
They're like, incredible video guys, well done.
01:51:11.680 --> 01:51:17.279
We gotta talk more about videos, and then yeah, two days later, obviously, somebody finally noticed the pocket out.
01:51:17.279 --> 01:51:20.159
And they as soon as they pointed out, the guy's like upset.
01:51:20.159 --> 01:51:23.680
He's like, Oh my goodness, somebody should have told me, you know, my pock's up.
01:51:23.680 --> 01:51:30.079
Like, no, that's unreasonable because A, first of all, it's a live event, and then two, it's not my put your pocket in.
01:51:30.079 --> 01:51:31.760
The guy on the roan in it.
01:51:31.760 --> 01:51:32.720
Exactly.
01:51:32.720 --> 01:51:36.880
Like, and two, you know, I mean, it's one thing on a studio, obviously we can we can do that.
01:51:36.880 --> 01:51:38.720
But like on a live A, I'm not looking for that.
01:51:38.720 --> 01:51:40.319
Wardrobe is not my thing.
01:51:40.319 --> 01:51:48.239
But two, uh, you know, I'm I'm not even I'm just I was asked literally the scope of work was record a speech.
01:51:48.239 --> 01:51:51.279
Yeah, that is videography, that's not filmmaking.
01:51:51.279 --> 01:51:58.640
I'm not there to check for wardrobe, I'm there to record a speech, and I did it way, way amazing than you know what the the task was.
01:51:58.640 --> 01:52:01.199
A we never checked the wardrobe.
01:52:01.199 --> 01:52:03.520
B, once we started rolling, you're on stage.
01:52:03.520 --> 01:52:04.399
At that point, it's too late.
01:52:04.399 --> 01:52:05.279
Now it's one thing, yeah.
01:52:05.279 --> 01:52:07.039
If I was there, I saw it.
01:52:07.039 --> 01:52:09.600
You're marking them up, and you're like, oh, okay.
01:52:09.600 --> 01:52:13.920
But we didn't notice anything until they were on stage, it was rolling, so I don't know at what point it happened.
01:52:13.920 --> 01:52:15.760
It's not on, in my opinion, us.
01:52:15.760 --> 01:52:20.079
When it's rolling, I can't, I in my opinion, I'm not gonna stop them.
01:52:20.079 --> 01:52:24.960
I don't care what's happening, I'm not going up there to stop the speech or even any of my cam ops.
01:52:24.960 --> 01:52:27.600
Mario, did you feel confident enough to go spot stop the speech?
01:52:27.600 --> 01:52:29.439
Do you know the project I'm talking about?
01:52:29.439 --> 01:52:38.000
Okay, would you have I'm saying Dared in front of 300 people where you were on the gimbal and Anthony was on the Ronin?
01:52:38.000 --> 01:52:41.760
Would you have gone and stopped the speech to fix a pocket?
01:52:41.760 --> 01:52:42.880
Not really.
01:52:42.880 --> 01:52:43.840
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
01:52:43.840 --> 01:52:46.560
I don't know anyone with it, and I don't know the right way to approach it.
01:52:46.560 --> 01:52:48.079
That would be somebody on their team.
01:52:48.079 --> 01:52:52.640
Yeah, but to be honest, the way I approached it, and again, I think my approach was so professional.
01:52:52.640 --> 01:52:54.880
I was like, as soon as they were like, hey, we don't like that.
01:52:54.880 --> 01:52:56.800
I was like, Yeah, I absolutely I agree with you.
01:52:56.800 --> 01:53:00.079
I think that's unfortunate that there was a wardrobe issue.
01:53:00.079 --> 01:53:06.960
You know, next time we should take a look at that, like I'll make sure somebody in your team checks for that.
01:53:06.960 --> 01:53:10.640
And he's like, Yeah, I wish you guys you're you had seven people that somebody would have noticed that.
01:53:10.640 --> 01:53:12.239
I'm like, Yeah, we did notice that.
01:53:12.239 --> 01:53:18.000
But you know, you normally, if you're supposed to check wardrobe, we'd bring a wardrobe person, but that wasn't in the scope of the work.
01:53:18.000 --> 01:53:20.399
But here's something nice I can do for you.
01:53:20.399 --> 01:53:22.239
No, I even offered, forget the wardrobe.
01:53:22.239 --> 01:53:30.880
I say, if you want, we can always add in a wardrobe person, but I'm just happy in general next time to come look at you before you go on stage and confirm the wardrobe looks good.
01:53:30.880 --> 01:53:32.399
That's going above and beyond.
01:53:32.399 --> 01:53:35.199
Yeah, and I think next and next time he probably won't even make that mistake.
01:53:35.199 --> 01:53:35.680
Exactly.
01:53:35.680 --> 01:53:38.159
But I'm saying these type of things happen, you know, it's a live thing.
01:53:38.159 --> 01:53:39.439
And that's the nature of life.
01:53:39.439 --> 01:53:40.960
Sneeze the booger on your hair.
01:53:40.960 --> 01:53:41.520
Yeah, exactly.
01:53:41.600 --> 01:53:42.960
And I'm can't you take that out?
01:53:43.119 --> 01:53:43.359
Yeah.
01:53:43.359 --> 01:53:43.920
No.
01:53:43.920 --> 01:53:48.560
So anyway, so but I'm saying, talk about, like you said, the clients are dissatisfied.
01:53:48.560 --> 01:53:53.760
And I and I'm sure no matter what I could have said, said there or done there, they're just gonna blame.
01:53:53.760 --> 01:53:57.039
And because you know, people, human nature, you're looking for you cannot blame yourself.
01:53:57.039 --> 01:54:02.319
Because I'm pretty sure at some point, most likely I'm guessing, uh, I I can go back, probably look at the footage.
01:54:02.319 --> 01:54:04.479
He put it probably put his hand there and it came out, right?
01:54:04.479 --> 01:54:05.760
Yeah, true, or somebody else did.
01:54:05.760 --> 01:54:13.119
Either way, I'm saying we had nothing to do with that, but their nature is not human nature is not to go, oh, I I effed up or whatever.
01:54:13.119 --> 01:54:17.039
It's like those guys, and I approach it like that.
01:54:17.039 --> 01:54:35.279
Like I said, mine was hey, this is what happened, this is how we can resolve it professionally, but as a courtesy, I'll do that job, even though it's not in my scope of work or my job, because I want I genuinely care about making a good product because now it sucks because they were so happy with it, they were gonna use that product, and now they're not they can't use it, right?
01:54:35.279 --> 01:54:38.319
I see the point of theirs because it bothers them.
01:54:38.319 --> 01:54:44.960
Yeah, and kind of does bother me too, but there's nothing we can do about it because otherwise we do it in a controlled setting.
01:54:44.960 --> 01:54:46.000
Yeah, but that's not that.
01:54:46.399 --> 01:54:54.000
And to go back to that wedding that they were not satisfied with, they were using the sound system of the church, they weren't talking in the mics.
01:54:54.000 --> 01:54:57.760
No, so there was no way for you to get audio.
01:54:57.760 --> 01:54:59.119
There's no way for me to get audio.
01:54:59.520 --> 01:55:01.680
Was there a board that you could have pulled it from or whatever?
01:55:01.680 --> 01:55:02.000
No.
01:55:02.319 --> 01:55:09.439
Even so at that point, you know, I didn't, you know, know about well, I've done sound before, of course, but I didn't have any of that kind of stuff.
01:55:09.439 --> 01:55:09.840
Yeah.
01:55:09.840 --> 01:55:12.319
So um, I didn't have any wireless mics.
01:55:12.319 --> 01:55:15.520
I just had like a little, you know, the little road ones that they used to have.
01:55:15.520 --> 01:55:17.279
Yeah, I don't even know where mine is anymore.
01:55:17.279 --> 01:55:21.279
But even with that, they weren't like they weren't talking in the mic.
01:55:21.359 --> 01:55:21.840
Yeah.
01:55:23.039 --> 01:55:28.159
So a lot of times during these weddings, the officiants talking on the mic.
01:55:28.159 --> 01:55:30.800
Yeah, and they're just and they never give them the mic.
01:55:30.960 --> 01:55:31.199
Yeah.
01:55:31.359 --> 01:55:32.640
Alright, what's your vows?
01:55:33.439 --> 01:55:36.079
Yeah, and then they're talking, and most people can't hear them.
01:55:36.159 --> 01:55:42.000
Yeah, you can't hear them, so like during that, and the and the pastor kind of had had my back to with that.
01:55:42.000 --> 01:55:44.720
I was like, there was no way I could get, I mean, I can't stop the wedding.
01:55:44.720 --> 01:55:46.159
And it kind of went to the same thing.
01:55:46.159 --> 01:55:50.079
I couldn't stop you and say, hey, talk louder or say into this.
01:55:50.079 --> 01:55:50.399
Yeah.
01:55:50.399 --> 01:55:53.600
And um, so everything worked out good.
01:55:53.840 --> 01:55:58.239
Yeah, and like I say, it was your first because now you know, like you can mic the groom, right?
01:55:58.239 --> 01:56:04.319
Throw one of those recorder mic, not the one I'm talking, go, but you know the one that internally records, so it never has to transmit.
01:56:04.319 --> 01:56:05.279
So I think stuff like that.
01:56:05.680 --> 01:56:08.560
If I was going to weddings, there's a few different ways of doing it.
01:56:08.560 --> 01:56:17.520
There is the you know, kind of documentary kind of like what kind of uh clip kind of version of it, and then there's the the whole entire wedding.
01:56:17.520 --> 01:56:23.279
And I think one of the biggest things, if you're gonna do weddings, audio, audio, audio, audio.
01:56:23.279 --> 01:56:26.239
If you have one camera, you probably need three or four mics.
01:56:26.399 --> 01:56:26.720
Yeah.
01:56:26.720 --> 01:56:34.159
Yeah, you gotta definite, at least, I mean, I know people who try to bride them mic the brides, but that can be difficult, I get it.
01:56:34.159 --> 01:56:46.960
So at least Mike the groom and Mike the offician, and but also the type of mic that will record, you know, like a tentacle sync track E or a pocket, I think uh DD has I mean a lot of companies have recorders, what I'm saying.
01:56:46.960 --> 01:56:53.920
The ones that record internally, sure they can maybe transmit too, but you want to have the recording it happening in there.
01:56:53.920 --> 01:56:59.119
So if your camera disconnects or something weird happens, you can just go and pull it out.
01:56:59.119 --> 01:57:00.880
DJ's messed up my audio before.
01:57:00.880 --> 01:57:02.960
I haven't tried flipped into him.
01:57:03.520 --> 01:57:10.960
I've had uh and I was like, okay, so there's another way of doing it where they just tape the mic on that their mic as a backup.
01:57:10.960 --> 01:57:11.520
Yep.
01:57:11.520 --> 01:57:14.880
Um, yeah, but I was just like, yeah, this is too much.
01:57:15.199 --> 01:57:15.920
Or they've lost my.
01:57:15.920 --> 01:57:22.640
I've had again, not vettings, but in general, I've given my mic to a soundboard or whatever, and then it's not there.
01:57:22.640 --> 01:57:25.119
And then at that point, I'm like, I'm not gonna fight with them.
01:57:25.119 --> 01:57:28.880
You know, it's like you go in there like, yeah, it was just right here, not here anymore.
01:57:28.880 --> 01:57:29.840
And it's like, really?
01:57:29.840 --> 01:57:30.399
Uh-huh.
01:57:30.399 --> 01:57:31.600
Uh so you know, it's like stuff.
01:57:31.600 --> 01:57:34.800
So I'm like, I just like to do my own mics, get my own recorders.
01:57:34.800 --> 01:57:35.119
Yep.
01:57:35.119 --> 01:57:38.399
That way, it's just less risk, less dealing with it.
01:57:38.399 --> 01:57:41.520
And even if I pull from them, I generally now do with an XLR.
01:57:41.520 --> 01:57:45.760
That was I'm like, yeah, I have it, and worst case, I'm just doing my own anyway.
01:57:45.760 --> 01:57:47.119
This is just a backup.
01:57:47.119 --> 01:57:50.319
Um, because like you said, there's a lot of variables in real life.
01:57:50.319 --> 01:57:53.760
Because it's see the thing about studio is it brings its own challenges.
01:57:53.760 --> 01:57:54.159
Yes.
01:57:54.159 --> 01:57:58.239
But you can you can stop, you can fix, you can go back.
01:57:58.239 --> 01:58:00.960
Real life events, conferences.
01:58:00.960 --> 01:58:04.800
I mean, I'm talking corporate side events, and even churches, conferences.
01:58:04.800 --> 01:58:11.520
Yeah, anything that's live, you you you gotta be prepared for anything and everything to go wrong, and usually it will.
01:58:11.520 --> 01:58:13.119
Power going out.
01:58:13.199 --> 01:58:14.319
Yeah, we've had that happen.
01:58:14.319 --> 01:58:16.880
So our last conference at the church we were at.
01:58:16.880 --> 01:58:22.000
Um, we were in a place where like I think we were seeing like 800 people were almost packed.
01:58:22.000 --> 01:58:30.000
Quentin was there with me, and the sound, the church was like, the audio guy asked, Well, how much what's your power that you have in your building?
01:58:30.000 --> 01:58:31.680
And he's like, Oh, it's enough.
01:58:31.680 --> 01:58:33.199
Well, we'll see.
01:58:33.199 --> 01:58:37.119
Yeah, the power cut off like a couple times.
01:58:37.119 --> 01:58:39.199
Cut off like probably like five.
01:58:39.199 --> 01:58:42.640
Yeah, and that could corrupt an audio file, you know, or a video file.
01:58:42.640 --> 01:58:44.960
Yeah, video file, so that kind of messed us up too.
01:58:44.960 --> 01:58:47.119
The live goes out, the internet goes out.
01:58:47.119 --> 01:58:47.840
Oh man.
01:58:48.239 --> 01:58:50.560
So yeah, even if you had a battery backup live time, the internet.
01:58:50.560 --> 01:58:57.840
Yeah, so even even when you so you gotta have a uh live view again, it's going back to, but that's expensive, yeah.
01:58:58.079 --> 01:58:59.600
It's expensive, yes it is.
01:58:59.600 --> 01:59:04.239
And even with um the level at where my church does it at, right?
01:59:04.239 --> 01:59:20.399
So we're in the midst of we what happens, we've been doing it so long that when we started catching up, we're still we we caught up, and then we get behind because you're doing it for so long, and it's not like live is making a whole bunch of money in those type of situations.
01:59:20.399 --> 01:59:28.319
So it's like we're now we're behind, and now we gotta upgrade all this stuff, but it's like we gotta upgrade this, this, this, this.
01:59:28.319 --> 01:59:32.239
So I'm like, I just keep it on the back burner and say I have a list of everything they need.
01:59:32.960 --> 01:59:41.039
Yeah, no, that's that's very smart because like you said, uh, and and like I said, I don't want to go or just defend because there will be people who are just unreasonable.
01:59:41.039 --> 01:59:50.319
Yeah, and that's why you uh I and again, my advice would be to also uh, you know, how they audition you, like they choose you out of all the vetting video or or event video people.
01:59:50.319 --> 01:59:51.760
You you have to do the same thing.
01:59:51.760 --> 01:59:58.000
Always meet with people either through video call or through um you know in-person meeting if you can.
01:59:58.000 --> 02:00:02.880
So you can also vibe check them because you'll know immediately, you know, if they're fit or not.
02:00:02.880 --> 02:00:04.479
Because don't be afraid to say no.
02:00:04.479 --> 02:00:08.960
Yeah, don't please don't be afraid to say no because I've gotten bad vibes and said I just can't do it.
02:00:08.960 --> 02:00:13.279
Yeah, you could just say I'm I'm not free, I'm not available, or I doesn't seem like a good fit.
02:00:13.520 --> 02:00:15.760
You know, sometimes it's past that point.
02:00:15.760 --> 02:00:17.600
He's like, No, I guess no, yeah, yeah.
02:00:17.600 --> 02:00:19.359
I've had to say that once.
02:00:19.359 --> 02:00:20.479
No, and that's okay.
02:00:20.479 --> 02:00:24.399
Yeah, try not to, or I you know, make the excuse I'm not available.
02:00:24.720 --> 02:00:27.600
Or or no, just say this this doesn't seem like the right fit.
02:00:27.600 --> 02:00:28.319
So thank you.
02:00:28.319 --> 02:00:29.279
That's that's what I'm saying.
02:00:29.279 --> 02:00:36.000
You can be honest and and and move on because at the end day, like you said, it's better to do now than when the wedding's over.
02:00:36.000 --> 02:00:39.439
And because that's that's not I don't want to be in that situation.
02:00:39.439 --> 02:00:39.760
Uh-huh.
02:00:39.760 --> 02:00:54.239
Like I said, if a client can get us upset about a pocket that had no control over us, I can't imagine uh uh you know somebody who's wedding, especially if they care, you know, they planned it, they they they did all that, and then then never never to have that video again.
02:00:54.239 --> 02:00:56.399
I I don't want to be that person, is what I'm saying.
02:00:56.399 --> 02:01:08.640
So I'd rather find the vibe, make sure you know you you match with the couple and and the bride and whoever, and you understand their expectations, you charge appropriately at the level you are, and then you set the expectations.
02:01:08.640 --> 02:01:14.560
I would even send them an example, like this is what I've done, like something you've actually done, so they can get an idea, you know.
02:01:14.560 --> 02:01:15.840
Oh, yeah, that matches.
02:01:15.840 --> 02:01:16.319
I love that.
02:01:16.319 --> 02:01:17.920
There you go, then do that, right?
02:01:17.920 --> 02:01:24.479
And if it doesn't, then they'll know, you know, we're looking for something higher end or lower end or whatever, and then you know, it's it's a conversation.
02:01:24.800 --> 02:01:37.600
And one of the things I know um in the beginning is learning the style that you do things because when you're when you're in the beginning and starting out, you don't have a style, so you don't really know what you're gonna do.
02:01:38.000 --> 02:01:41.760
That's when, like you said, I think you earlier said perfectly go be a second shooter for someone.
02:01:41.760 --> 02:01:42.399
Exactly.
02:01:42.399 --> 02:01:44.079
See I wish I would have done that more.
02:01:44.079 --> 02:01:50.560
Because yeah, because you learn from that other people, and and and also do it for more than one person, because if you just go with one, you just learn what they're doing.
02:01:50.560 --> 02:01:50.880
Yep.
02:01:50.880 --> 02:01:53.199
I think you should go try out with three, four people.
02:01:53.199 --> 02:02:02.720
Uh, you know, obviously good get good at camera, go do that, help them out, uh, you know, shoot enough, and I think you'll know very soon if A, this is even for you.
02:02:02.720 --> 02:02:03.119
Yeah.
02:02:03.119 --> 02:02:16.640
Or, and then if it is, then you know, which style, or you can mix and match and make your own thing, then do your first wedding for free, where you, you know, build this style or your own one, and then you go now show it to other couples, and that's how you would get couples.
02:02:16.640 --> 02:02:32.079
The thing is, I think the summary of all this is you can make money doing weddings, you can do photo, you can do video, you can make money building a studio, yeah, uh, you can make money doing corporate stuff, you can uh do live events, you can go help your church and travel the world.
02:02:32.079 --> 02:02:33.520
I mean, there's so much.
02:02:33.520 --> 02:02:39.760
So, if you're passionate about photo and video, yeah, there's so many avenues to pursue.
02:02:39.760 --> 02:02:42.079
So the best thing you have to do is just do it.
02:02:42.079 --> 02:02:42.880
That's it.
02:02:42.880 --> 02:02:47.760
And I can't believe our time is up and I could talk for you so long.
02:02:47.760 --> 02:02:48.479
This is amazing.
02:02:48.479 --> 02:02:50.880
The conversation was incredible, Lamar.
02:02:50.880 --> 02:02:56.800
Um, before we go, please title everyone where they can find you, follow you, tell them about the studio, all that.
02:02:57.119 --> 02:03:03.920
Okay, so um, my name is Lamar Sheeley, and uh LS Services is my company name.
02:03:03.920 --> 02:03:06.319
Delta Studios is the studio.
02:03:06.319 --> 02:03:14.960
If you go on Instagram, Facebook, Delta Studios Orlando, if you or you can find me on Lamar at Lamar Sheeley, all the platforms.
02:03:14.960 --> 02:03:19.359
Um, our website, I think it's Delta Studios.com.
02:03:19.359 --> 02:03:21.920
And then um I have LS Services.biz.
02:03:21.920 --> 02:03:27.600
You can go to either one of them and um yeah, catch me up, you know, talking.
02:03:30.399 --> 02:03:30.880
We shooting.
02:03:30.880 --> 02:03:32.640
Yeah, what are we doing here?
02:03:32.640 --> 02:03:33.680
Uh no, yeah.
02:03:33.680 --> 02:03:47.439
Um, reach out to him if you ever in the Orlando area, you guys need a studio to shoot a podcast or something indoors, also just in general for advice, questions, and um our or his business partner through Delta Studios, if you want to talk about it.
02:03:47.439 --> 02:03:52.000
Or whatever, he was here last season, pull up his episode, watch him, you know.
02:03:52.000 --> 02:03:54.800
Uh and then uh yeah, that's about it.
02:03:54.800 --> 02:03:56.159
Dude, I want to really thank you.
02:03:56.159 --> 02:03:57.600
This was an incredible conversation.
02:03:57.600 --> 02:03:59.119
I had such a great time with you.
02:03:59.119 --> 02:04:01.680
Uh, like I said, you have an incredible positive energy.
02:04:01.680 --> 02:04:02.079
Thank you.
02:04:02.079 --> 02:04:04.640
And I really like you know your partner sometimes.
02:04:04.640 --> 02:04:13.600
Uh I'm talking business partner, and uh yeah, not that but you know, Quentin's a good, great guy, and um, you know, I'm so glad you guys came together and what you're doing.
02:04:13.600 --> 02:04:16.479
I really like what you're doing, and I wish you both the success.
02:04:16.479 --> 02:04:16.880
Thank you.
02:04:16.880 --> 02:04:19.279
And I'm here, however, I can help you.
02:04:19.279 --> 02:04:24.239
And thank you, Mario, for another episode for producing it, cutting it for us.
02:04:24.239 --> 02:04:24.800
Thank you so much.
02:04:24.800 --> 02:04:27.199
Yeah, thank you.
02:04:27.199 --> 02:04:28.720
And uh thank you again.
02:04:28.720 --> 02:04:29.920
Appreciate you, brother.
02:04:29.920 --> 02:04:35.600
And thank you for watching another episode of Studio B Sessions with me, Bendra, and we will see you again next time.
02:04:35.600 --> 02:04:39.279
Don't forget Thursdays, every Thursday, yeah, morning.
02:04:39.279 --> 02:04:40.479
All right, bye.
02:04:40.479 --> 02:04:41.520
All right, bye.
