lexi: we all have bad days. But the but like we all on the other end, we all have bad days.
Tess: there are some people who are just direct all the time and it's your like it's borderline like they're just a rude person.
lexi: Was someone being rude to you?
Tess: No. Welcome back to Sisters in Session, where therapy meets sister talk and nothing's off limits. We're two sisters who overthink everything, laugh too loud and try to make sense of life's chaos one session at a time.
lexi: From relationships and self-care to the messy middle of growing up, it's part heart to heart, part comedy comedy hour, and all real talk was zero chill. So grab your coffee or a drink of choice and settle in. It's time for your weekly ho weekly dose of sisterhood and self-reflection. That was an untimely mistake.
Tess: Listen, if you're watching, couple disclaimers. First of all, my mouth looks weird because I have a cold sore and like my lip won't like if I'm laughing it like stops. It looks like I have like Bell's palsy. Only one half of my mouth is going up.
lexi: Not the bell's palsy. my disclaim you are talking a little funny.
Tess: I know.
lexi: Are you in pain?
Tess: A little bit.
lexi: If you're watching, my disclaimer, I got this, it's actually vintage gap. Super cute. Love the color, obviously. I'm wearing this like what I thought was a mock neck. Turns out it is a full-on turtleneck, and I'm going to just be ripping at it to stretch it out a little bit because I was planning on wearing it shopping after I'm done with this, but I don't know if I can really Do you w I feel like I'm like in a cage.
Tess: I love a turtleneck and a mock neck. I know Tori is the same way, like she can't wear things around her neck. Addie Grace won't wear things around her neck.
lexi: Well, I'm good with a mock neck. Like a mock neck doesn't bother me. But this is a full turtleneck and I feel like I'm choking. That's not too bad right there, so maybe we'll just
Tess: I was gonna say it it looks like a mock neck there. I don't know if it feels like it, but...
lexi: I have it half tucked in and then this part is out. But like fully, it is a it is a it is it
Tess: Sheesh.
lexi: is a it is a full on turtleneck.
Tess: So shopping yesterday and today, can't hide money.
lexi: It was good will yesterday.
Tess: I stand my point. Goodwill's expensive.
lexi: I did I did spend some money, but most of it was actually for Michael, to be honest. I found him a lot of good stuff.
Tess: Goodwill isn't they can be pricey.
lexi: yeah, like I spent a hundred dollars. Now
Tess: But like
lexi: I got a lot I got a decent I shouldn't say a lot. I got a decent amount of stuff, but like I still spent a hundred dollars. But for the amount of things that I got, I just don't think that I could get away with spending a hundred You get it. I don't need to explain it to you.
Tess: I do. I just I think that they're just forgetting from whence they came.
lexi: Right, I think we're forgetting the plot a little bit. I think we're
Tess: Yes, like you are a fully like you have to pay your employees like I get that but like your product is donated.
lexi: Right. Like you're you're essentially spending nothing other than paying your employees.
Tess: And you are there to spread goodwill. Like I can go to Ross and get stuff cheaper sometimes than what I can get a new like a used shirt from the Goodwill.
lexi: It's not goodwill on my wallet.
Tess: No.
lexi: It's disrespectful, but I died.
Tess: I agree. Right. 'Cause you can find vintage gap mockneck
lexi: Yes.
Tess: turtlenecks.
lexi: the vintage gap turtleneck that you make into a mock neck. Honestly, I really like it. But I think I might have to have mom like cut off and do something here. Cause I don't want to be dealing with this every time I wear it, but I really like it and it actually is very comfortable. It's a bit oversized, but I knew that. but yeah I yeah. Something's gonna have to give 'cause I can't be choking every time I want to wear
Tess: Well right. I feel like we're living in different seasons. Like you're very much giving fall.
lexi: That's 'cause it feels like fall here today.
Tess: Okay. Well, technically it is fall now, so happy fall, y'all.
lexi: It's fifty degrees, fifty four degrees.
Tess: my goodness
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: No, I would simply Hibernate Right
lexi: Pass away. Right. And that's where I'm at.
Tess: Yes, it is I I'm sure the high is high eighties today, maybe low nineties. Which I love. I'm still here for
lexi: Right.
Tess: it.
lexi: Right.
Tess: anyways, so happy Friday.
lexi: Happy Fry Yay.
Tess: So we're back from vacation.
lexi: We are ready I think Dad said the other night, he's like, I think next year we should make it a two weeker. I'm like,
Tess: He says this every year.
lexi: I know. And I'm like, obviously yes, but like
Tess: Right.
lexi: I don't know.
Tess: Yeah, it's like it's so different mentally for
lexi: When you let be
Tess: me. Yeah. Like I had a great time, obviously, being with you guys. it just doesn't quite have like a little rain cloud over going home like it did whenever I lived up there, obviously, because like we always go in September. Fall is coming, the cold weather is coming, you know what's coming, and it was just like Ugh, like such a downer. Like you didn't want to go
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: home. And not that I wanted to leave you guys, obviously, like to come
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: home this time, but like I'm still I have the weather, I just don't have you guys. So I get that. I get where he's coming from. Like wanting to drag it out longer.
lexi: I think we should go to your house again next year.
Tess: I agree.
lexi: I mean like sure it's nice,
Tess: Dad has an emotion.
lexi: but like what are we doing?
Tess: Yeah. I mean we could stay down on the beach here.
lexi: I I'm not even worried about that. Like it's just the beaches are nicer.
Tess: You know, I will say, and I tried not to say too much about it on vacation, because I didn't want to be like that person, but like,
lexi: Heard you a couple times.
Tess: my goodness. What
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: Why did I break cut my feet walking in the sand?
lexi: Dude, my feet, I actually might get a pedicure today because I'm not kidding you.
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: My feet are messed up.
Tess: Guess.
lexi: Like when I okay. I'm so glad you brought this up because I would have forgot to bring it up. I so when I came back, like when we were at the beach at your house, like my feet just felt exfoliated from the sand. You know,
Tess: Mm-hmm.
lexi: like there weren't any like
Tess: Ha ha ha.
lexi: There were there wasn't any like peeling. They were just like exfoliated. They were soft. They were nice. Not this time girl. If we wouldn't get canceled, I would show you. Like, I need to pet egg my feet. I'm so serious. No, you don't you d you're not understanding.
Tess: Well like we have we have seashells. In fact, like especially over in like Navarre, like renowned seashell hunting for those who like want to like dig for and stuff. But like so it's
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: not that we don't have seashells, but like they just stay where they belong. Like
lexi: Well, like there were an ample amount of twigs too. And I don't
Tess: And cigarettes and trash
lexi: Where are we where is that coming from?
Tess: Yeah. And I think now that I think about it, and I'm could be way off on this, like I'm not saying that the Gulf doesn't have like tides, but they don't have tides like the ocean has tides, I don't think, because the beach never really changes. Like we would set up in the morning and by the afternoon, like the b the water was like way out, like significantly out.
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: but like with that then, whenever it's in, you have like this whole line of it's like a what are those things that the cops set out for like tires to pop their tires.
lexi: I sure.
Tess: Yeah, you have a spike trip strip to get to the water.
lexi: Y no, and you do.
Tess: Because all of these broken shells are like a foot and a half, two feet wide line that you have to like get over.
lexi: Yeah. So I think what I'm gonna do is just send my pedicure bill to dad
Tess: Ha ha
lexi: because it's his fault. I'll I'll Venmo request him.
Tess: for your he'll be like why? And then he'll be all offended whenever you say that
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: you want to come here next year. He like Marle was like personal to him. Again,
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: had a great time being with you all. Like I did. it's fun to stay at the resort. So like all of that but like yeah, Dirty Myrtle. I mean what are you gonna do?
lexi: And and it is
Tess: It was fun guys. It was fun. Michael showed up, which you knew, but like nobody else knew.
lexi: Well, I mean I didn't know till like it was good because I almost even in the two days that I knew I almost let it slip like four times.
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: So it's good that I didn't know until like two days before, which he wasn't planning on going, it just it
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: worked out. But yes, he did come.
Tess: And Lamar ended up coming.
lexi: Yes.
Tess: But yeah, we had a good time. Good
lexi: We did.
Tess: time was had on vacation.
lexi: It was so fun.
Tess: let's see. Other than that Addie Grace had a birthday. She's eleven now. Lexi you guys already know this. Lexi ordered the scooter.
lexi: yes, we did. And I got our couple other things.
Tess: Yeah, I feel like she her reaction was so muted because I don't really think she understood like what
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: was happening.
lexi: Yeah. It was I was shocked. Like I wasn't like, she doesn't even like she's not even like
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: I was like, okay, I expected more from you. But like I could tell that she was grateful and I kind of feel the same way. I feel like she was like, wait, what?
Tess: Yeah. 'Cause so Lexi d printed off like a picture of the scooter and so she opened it but like I don't think she understood that like it was ordered or like
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: I think she was just like, What is this? And then even once
lexi: Yeah, she was like, a scooter. And I was like, Yeah and she's like, Thanks And
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: then I was like, We got you the scooter And she's like and then I think she was in shock.
Tess: Yes, yes, because and also like very excited and I think she felt bad like after because like she kept saying like thank you so much for the scooter, like I'm
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: so excited, like but also whenever it's not there in front of you to like use right away
lexi: Exactly. Like I fully obviously it would have made a huge difference if it was there. And I would have liked for that to happen. That was the original
Tess: Right.
lexi: plan. But it just it wasn't gonna it it just didn't work out that way. But no, I think that when she gets it sh it's gonna be it's gonna be great. It's gonna be super exciting.
Tess: Yes. Yeah.
lexi: Make her wear a helmet.
Tess: I will.
lexi: You look like something's on your heart.
Tess: Really I mean I'm okay. Well I'm just full disclosure, like we don't really have like a great plan for today's episode 'cause I just like wasn't feeling inspired by anything. Lexi wasn't feeling inspired by by anything. And so I'm just trying to like think about like
lexi: She snapped me yesterday, She sent me yesterday. She's like, Hey, do you want to film tomorrow? I was like, Yeah, that's like sure. And she was like, Are you feeling inspired by anything? I said, Not at the moment. I'm still not.
Tess: And then I think she took a nap. I
lexi: I tried a lip combo today.
Tess: I noticed that. I meant to say that at the beginning.
lexi: You like it or no?
Tess: Yeah. I mean you have nice lips anyways, but
lexi: Stop. I'd never tried a lip liner. But I like I f I feel like a lot of people like overline, like do like
Tess: Mm-hmm.
lexi: but I just did like the let me get a little closer. I feel very vulnerable. I just did like the outline of my natural lips. Pretty cute. I don't know what the colors are. It's elf. Both of them are elf. The lip stuff and then the lip liner.
Tess: Yeah. I usually do my lips for church sometimes, but other than that, even if I do my makeup throughout the week I don't usually do anything on the lips. Anyway, so here
lexi: Yeah. Aqua four.
Tess: yeah. Here's something that I've been thinking about.
lexi: Okay, hit me with it.
Tess: Well, I don't really know like what to how to say. I just think that where's the line between having boundaries and just being rude.
lexi: Is this play about us? Us as in me? As in what?
Tess: No. And I have no literally no I have no notes. I have no nothing about it. Because I didn't have time to like
lexi: No notes.
Tess: no notes.
lexi: What do you mean no notes? No notes.
Tess: No notes.
lexi: anyway, the line. I do be damned sometimes.
Tess: Or I and also again not related to you, just like I think that like I really appreciate direct people. I can't relate to them because it's not me.
lexi: All right.
Tess: But I I be I am a little envious of them 'cause I wish I I was more that way.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: kind of on the same line, like, where does that cross into just being like a rude person?
lexi: I wish I could tell you.
Tess: Just
lexi: Here's the thing. I
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: I think there's a difference in being a direct person for someone who wants to hear it and being a direct person for someone who doesn't want to hear it. You know what I'm saying?
Tess: Yeah, and I think the key like you don't always have to be direct. I don't think.
lexi: Right. There's a time and place.
Tess: Yeah. Like if something needs to be like just like nipped in the bud, like okay.
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: But like I just think that there are some people who are just direct all the time and it's your like it's borderline like they're just a rude person.
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: And
lexi: I agree.
Tess: I just think that like it gives me like I don't like to be around that person. Again, not just like a person who's not afraid to like be honest if needed. Like I'm not talking about that kind of like I'm just talking about like people who almost portray their rudeness as like a joke, but like it's just how they talk to and about people all the time and you're just like I don't really think you're joking. Like I just think you're a nasty person.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: And then I'm just like I don't understand especially then whenever they are like claiming Christianity.
lexi: Mm.
Tess: That's really hard for me. Like again Directness, no. I appreciate it, like I said, I'm a little bit envious of it. Like people who like try to be passive aggressive, me, I'm guilty of it because I'm like I don't want to say the thing, so I'm just kinda like gonna skirt around it. And then people who are like, no, here's the thing. Like, I appreciate that. I can respect it, I'm a little envious of it. But I mean people who just like say point blank things all the time whenever they don't need to be said. and they're just like constantly coming off
lexi: Mm.
Tess: super rude and arrogant in the name of being direct or just like that's just my personality. And I'm like, is it? And then kind of bringing in the boundaries then if you try to put up boundaries to those people they're like, What do you what's What's wrong?
lexi: What's Yeah, you know that that's just how I am. No, you don't
Tess: Yeah it's
lexi: have to be rude.
Tess: Yes. And like don't I just I listen Again, not perfect. Not like never claiming to be. I s get hung up on stupid things. I you know, whatever. But like I just always struggle with the fact that like if you are actively like pursuing a relationship with God, like that will eventually go away. It'll be toned down. Again, I think Jesus is very direct. Like so I'm not saying there's not a place for it. I'm not saying because whenever you're not, you can hedge on the line of like dishonesty or like, do you
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: know I mean like so like there's definitely the other side of it. Like, I don't wanna not know where I stand with somebody because of how they just act like I'm like, are we friends? Like, do you dislike me and you're just like like cause everything's just a little shaded as like, ha
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: ha ha. And I'm just like, I I don't know if But like what bothers me then is whenever you're just like I just feel like if you are a professing Christian and you are continually trying to grow, I'm not saying it'll happen overnight, but I do think that that's not an attribute that's Christ like. And so like I feel like eventually that'll start to fade.
lexi: Right.
Tess: Not trying to like I'm not I I don't know where and again I'm not even like talk I'm just talking like in general. So I don't know where that a person might be in their journey, but like I feel like eventually that would be like something that would be different.
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: Because like it's not appealing.
lexi: No.
Tess: Like I don't think people are gonna gravitate towards you, which they should if you're a genuinely like friendly, outgoing, kind, kind of like showing like true, genuine love, even if you don't ever say like where it's coming from, like people gravitate towards that. And I think that's important and I just don't feel like people gravitate towards that kind of like negative, just like d like I don't wanna use the word direct because I don't have a problem with people being direct. So I don't know what the opposite of like that is but still being negative. Like I feel like I keep bringing like being direct across as negative and I don't really feel that way.
lexi: I feel like the word is
Tess: Yeah, that word.
lexi: I feel like there is a word and I just can't think of it.
Tess: Maybe it's just aggressive. Like if you're not passive aggressive, are you aggressive? But like passive aggressive is still aggressive, you're just trying to pretend like you're not.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: But usually in a shady way. Again, being direct is just saying like the truth. Essentially like essentially.
lexi: Right. Right.
Tess: you must always tell the truth, but the truth doesn't always need to be spoken. I think a lot of people could stand to hear that.
lexi: Get you better on the phone.
Tess: Getting that on the phone. so I don't like yeah, because like being direct, I'm I'm okay with it. I just like I guess it goes back to like, do we always have to be direct? Like
lexi: You can be direct and say it in a like like again, read a room.
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: There's nothing wrong with being direct, but then I think there there's like a malicious direct and you're just
Tess: Yeah. The intent or like
lexi: Yeah. Like ill intent direct. And I don't like
Tess: Or like I'm gonna I'm gonna shade you or like kinda kinda put you down. But
lexi: Mm-hmm. But like make it a joke.
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: Like be like Yeah, we all know I don't even know. Like yeah yeah, we all know you don't like those shoes. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Or you don't have the shoes or ha ha ha Like you know what I'm saying? Like
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: it's just like their like demeanor.
Tess: Yeah, I don't like to not know if people like me or don't like me. Like I would sooner just know if you don't like me versus being like I don't know. Because
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: you're being like Direct but like laughing
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: I are you just like me like you don't like who I am as a person, like that's fine, but
lexi: But like just tell me.
Tess: Yeah. Don't pass it off as like well maybe maybe I'm just mixing up. Maybe that's just maybe this isn't about being direct people. Maybe this is like passive aggressive people.
lexi: Maybe.
Tess: tha are the problem. 'Cause I think like I was thinking that I was explaining somebody who is direct in my mind, but maybe like the laughing it off kind of like ha ha I think that's passive aggressive. Where it's like I'm kinda saying the thing, but like I'm not saying the thing, but like hopefully you get the point of what I'm saying the thing. Whereas the direct
lexi: Yeah. Maybe
Tess: person would be like, Hey, like our personalities don't really mix. It is what it is. So like maybe I just don't like passive aggressive people.
lexi: Was someone being rude to you?
Tess: No. No, I swear.
lexi: Listen. I'm gonna be very direct. This is this is a this is a this is gonna be direct. This is me being direct. If you are rude to my sister Just know you have one coming. And what is that one? Don't know. We'll find out as we go. Don't play with me! Continue.
Tess: Vengeance is mine. Say it the
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: Lord.
lexi: Yes. But I
Tess: Amen. Also
lexi: I am a vessel. I am a tool. I don't know.
Tess: In the name of love.
lexi: Right.
Tess: No, this is honestly, this is generally not in like a this is not in a passive aggressive way, like no but I there's nobody on my mind. I just like you know those type of people though who you're always kind
lexi: yeah.
Tess: of like I don't know if like I don't know if you're joking or not. And like if you're not joking, like
lexi: Like, do you hate me?
Tess: yeah, like if you're not joking, you're rude. Hmm, rude. Like if you are joking, like listen, I'll laugh with anybody. I love a good laugh.
lexi: Right. Right.
Tess: I laugh I I will laugh at myself. Like so like I'm happy to like if we would make fun of me, but like knowing that like we're friends and it's coming from like a nice like place, I'll laugh with you.
lexi: Will cry, but I'll laugh in person.
Tess: But like whenever it's kind of shady and you're like, I don't know if I don't know if we have the type of relationship that you can say that and laugh it off, or if you're trying to like get to that type of relationship where you can say it and laugh it off, but like it's coming off like rude.
lexi: Like you're being mean.
Tess: Yeah, 'cause I'm not sure like where we stand.
lexi: Like you're hurting my feelings.
Tess: 'Cause you're always that way. And
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: I'll just be honest, like I don't think again, growth takes time. I'm
lexi: Mm.
Tess: not saying like overnight you should just be like a different person. Like it's hard to change and adjust your personality if that's just like kind of the way that you lean. But like after like so many years, I would think that like
lexi: I mean, what point does someone
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: need to like hit you to get you to Right, like
Tess: Call you out for being rude. In the name of calling you higher, I just like
lexi: Like you you need hit. Have you ever have you ever been in contact with people like that?
Tess: But it's lot.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: Like you need rocked.
Tess: And it is hard to like be on the opposite side of that. Cause like you're not my responsibility, but like somebody in your life, like you should always genuinely, at the very least, obviously you're answering to God. However, like I think it's good to like have accountability like with a real p like a person on this earth. Like I whether
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: or not you call it an accountability person, like you should have to answer to somebody. Or like somebody should be whole like I'm I need to finish the sentence. somebody should be holding you to some sort of I don't want to use the word standard, but like moral compass, something like
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: is the Holy Spirit capable? Yes. But like if I'm acting like a rip, like you, Lamar, somebody I should have somebody in my life that's going to be like, Tessa, knock it off. Like, what in the world's the matter with you?
lexi: And I work.
Tess: like do these people not have that or they just don't care?
lexi: I don't well it's so hard because like you don't know people's backgrounds, you know, you don't know what
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: they've been through and you don't know how they were raised and you don't know what they're going through. And like don't get
Tess: Mm-hmm.
lexi: me wrong, we all have bad days. But the but like we all on the other end, we all have bad days. You know what I'm saying?
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: So like you can have a bad day and be a jerk, but I can have a bad day and not be a jerk and there's a lot less collateral damage.
Tess: after so many times of somebody being like passive aggressive, I'm just kinda like, I don't know. Like I genuinely don't know if we're friends and we're just like or like and I genuinely don't know if you don't wanna be around me. Again, fine.
lexi: Yes.
Tess: Like you ought to give me something here.
lexi: But like at the same time, I think it's important for not just obviously you or me or I think it's important to like set boundaries for that because like you
Tess: Yes.
lexi: can start to be like well are we friends or and it's just taking too much space up in your mind. And I think that eventually you have to set a boundary and be like, okay, whether we are or whether we're not, I can't worry about it. Like, you know what I'm saying? I'm not saying it takes up like a lot of your time. Or like
Tess: Right.
lexi: I'm just saying, like, you know, just kind of deal with it and like not really But like you don't have to do
Tess: Because then I think those people they push so many people away and then so whenever they do reach out,
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: genuinely it's kind of like they're probably looking for connection or maybe even a friendship and you're just kinda
lexi: Yes.
Tess: like but I don't know, like what I'm
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: happy to be a friend.
lexi: Right.
Tess: but I just don't know like is this what why I I don't I don't know. And whenever I don't know how to read a person or like I get very like I don't know if insecure is the right word, but very just like unsure of myself of like I don't like to feel that like unsureness. Like as much as I struggle to be direct because I don't ever want to like make anybody feel uncomfortable,
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: I appreciate people who are even
lexi: Yes.
Tess: with me.
lexi: Yes.
Tess: Like 'cause then I just know. There's
lexi: Mm.
Tess: no like anxiety, there's no weird like whatever But whenever it's not, I'm like, I don't I don't know.
lexi: Yeah, and I don't know if it comes like for some people that have, you know, kind of are dealing with this. Like I don't know if it comes from a place of like insecurity or like needing like a friendship but not really knowing how t like also having their guard up.
Tess: Yeah. And I think that could be the case because especially if you have a history of like kind of being that way, it would
lexi: Mm.
Tess: be hard to like kind of come back in.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: Like your own, like not guilt, but like your own unsureness is then
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: like it's like a whole thing. And so it could definitely be coming from like a a different place.
lexi: Mm.
Tess: But I don't yeah, I don't know. And that's what I think that's
lexi: Yeah, I
Tess: my point. Like I can tend to sometimes be passive aggressive because it's hard for me to like say things directly.
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: but I wouldn't say that I'm like that all the time. And I think that's like
lexi: Right.
Tess: whenever somebody is like that all the time, you're just left completely like unsure and it makes everything like so awkward. Also It's hard whenever they kind of circle back around and like are maybe like trying to be genuine because you're like, Okay, but for how long?
lexi: Right.
Tess: Or like until something else happens, until somebody else comes along? Like I don't know, guys, we're in our thirties. Some of us. Lexi, not yet, but like we're too old, regardless. Do you mean like I think that's what's frustrating to me? Is like I'm just not at a point in my life, I barely maintain the friendships that I want to. Genuinely. Like it's hard. Everybody's busy. We have kids. We have other things going on. We don't live close to each other. Whatever the case may be. I have a hard time maintaining genuine friendships that I love and want to maintain.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: I'm happy for new ones. However, like it's gonna have to be like We like I don't have time for this. Games.
lexi: We're friends or
Tess: Yes. Passive aggressiveness. Games. Unsure. No. Who's that bored?
lexi: Yeah. Yeah.
Tess: Like not me.
lexi: No.
Tess: Anyways, and yes, to bring back in the boundaries, I think that's a good point and just being like, Okay, this is how that person is
lexi: Yeah, like when I say that, I mean like you can be there for someone and talk to them and like kind of like help them through things, but just don't get too attached, especially if they have like that kind of attachment style situation that we just talked about.
Tess: Yes, so keep that in mind. And also if you are that type of person, like maybe just realize that like people could keep you at arms distance until you like overcome that because like it's very emotionally draining.
lexi: Yes.
Tess: For you, but also for the the other person.
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: So if you feel like people are pushing you away or keeping you
lexi: let's take some accountability.
Tess: Yes. Now, on the flip side, I think we can get a little carried away with boundaries.
lexi: yeah.
Tess: Protecting our peace. Like at what point are you just like not doing anything?
lexi: Like at what point are you just being not involved at all?
Tess: Yeah, like right. Like And also like sometimes I think it's good like again guys this is dipping with a big spoon because I can obviously see both sides but like I just think that like we're protecting our peace too much in the sense that like we don't want anything to inconvenience us and like if something disrupts that peace like we almost don't know how to handle it.
lexi: Well like and we're very quick to be like, Okay, you're done. Cut off. I'm done.
Tess: Yes. Yes. Or like, okay, for example, and I am getting so bad for this. I have one of my best friends, not Lexi, so disclaimer.
lexi: I'm in the clear this time.
Tess: Yeah. Lexi is the best friend, everyone else is just one of the it's a weird line.
lexi: And that's a line we don't cross.
Tess: Yes. So one of my other best friends, we have very open communication and we both were like we have such similar personalities, but we were both like, Okay, sometimes I'm really busy and like I wanna get back to you, but like I just like can't maybe always in the moment. And so we have a very like as far as like tet
lexi: Erratic.
Tess: yes, like we are super close. We are like I love her and I love our friendship and it's like it never has anything to do with like not wanting to talk to her. Ever. It's just like You can say something were you gonna say something?
lexi: I know exactly who you're talking about.
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: And I'll tell you why, because every time like Tessa happens to be around or like like she'll be like sending a message and I'm like, What are you doing? And like it's like this long message and it's she's like, I ha like I'm texting this person back and like the text before that was like three days ago.
Tess: Yes. or we're like she has some other stuff going on right now, but like so we we used to text at least every morning and check it and then we would go back and like reply to like other like actual like life happenings just as we could. and like For a while, it seemed like she was pretty much the only person I was like consistently texting. I still don't like text a lot of people. However, in that there was like a mind shift change. And I just like. And this was not me. Like I am very type A. Like I'm gonna respond as soon as people text. But somehow, in that, I just like will just like not text people back for like a long time. And then, guys. One, here's my dilemma. I don't like the notification, but like I will forget. So like it's like either get rid of the notification or like run the risk of forgetting. And I'll just tell you right now, I do forget and I feel so bad. And I'm just like and I think like in that, why are you making that face?
lexi: Because I get in trouble for this all the time. And it's
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: just funny to see the rules reversed. You're the one that tells me about it most often.
Tess: Well, I text you back all the time. When have I ever not texted you back? Okay.
lexi: Yeah, and you better. No, like and you and you better. Otherwise I'll think you're dead.
Tess: Yeah. So now that example is not me intentionally like protecting my peace, but like people do that. They'll just be like
lexi: Mm.
Tess: I just like couldn't respond. Like I just wasn't like I wasn't in a place to respond like at that time. Like grow up and just like respond. Like it's a text. Like it is not again,
lexi: That's her.
Tess: speaking from a place like I am not intentionally not answering people. I just get rid of the notification and forget. And I'd like to blame part of that on the fact of just having like an open with that one person being like, Hey, just no, I'll text you back like as soon as I can. And now I'm just awful for it in some ways. 'cause there are sometimes like I can't answer this right now, but it has nothing to do with like protecting my peace. I'm just like doing sixteen other things.
lexi: I usually do pretty good at texting you back, Miss Disney Plus Code.
Tess: Yeah, well I I would like to speak to the CEO.
lexi: and you should.
Tess: 'Cause what Yes, you do. And honestly,
lexi: I'll go with you. I have your back.
Tess: that is impressive to me because I don't get a notification every time I get an email. But like you must, because usually she's texting me the code before I even have to ask for it. Impressive.
lexi: Because my babies like to watch Bluey before bed. That's why. That's why I do it.
Tess: Yeah, well now we can't. But yeah, so I don't know. I just I was saying we protect our peace too much that like we can't be inconvenienced by anything. And like sometimes it's good for us to be inconvenienced. Like and it's like a big thing about like plans being cancelled and like being so excited. And like I get that, but like if you don't actually have like plans, like d and you may not feel like Going out or getting coffee or whatever, like you should do it anyways. Like if somebody reached
lexi: You probably need to. If that's how
Tess: out to you and was like, Hey, do you want to get coffee? Like, I'll be honest, I'm usually pretty much always down. But like, if you're somebody who's like, let me think. I just like I just don't really think I feel like doing that. Or like you RSOP to something and then it's here and you're just like, I just don't think
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: suck it up, buttercup. Suck it up. Like you said you were going? Go. Like, do you o
lexi: I am bad for that.
Tess: Well, here's your here's your
lexi: No, I know. I am I am trying to work on it. Like I will be like, Yeah, I'll do that or yeah, I can go here or yeah and then like day of
Tess: Hey.
lexi: Hey, I'm not gonna maybe I don't make it. But I am trying to do better. For real, for real.
Tess: Yeah, 'cause like think like that happens all the time. Like things are planned in advance. You're like, yes, that sounds so fun. And then the day of, like, you got sixteen other things going on, or it just feels like, you know, your week has been crazy. But like and you're just like, I just like in the in the in the idea of protecting my peace and s keeping my boundaries so that I'm comfortable, I can't make it. Like, grow up. Get uncomfortable. Like if you're not uncomforta I should
lexi: You think we're all comfortable? You think we're all feeling good?
Tess: Yeah. And so I just think that like we take we being like maybe our generation, maybe the generation beneath us, like we're just little too comfortable with just like canceling plans or like not responding or not and guys I'm talking to myself here. So this is not pointed at anybody, but just like grow up, you know, keep the plans, make plans.
lexi: Yeah. Yeah.
Tess: Don't protect your peace so much that now you have no friends.
lexi: Now you're a loner. It's not hard to protect
Tess: Yeah.
lexi: your beast when you're a loner.
Tess: Yeah. Ain't gospel, but
lexi: It'll preach.
Tess: That's right. Well now that we solve the world's problems.
lexi: As we always do.
Tess: I know. It's it's a tough tough cross to bear, but mm.
lexi: My shoulders hurt from bearing, you know, the weight.
Tess: of the world's burdens that we have to solve
lexi: Mm.
Tess: and give our opinions on. It's hard.
lexi: Right.
Tess: We're gonna come back and do it again next week, so
lexi: Obviously.
Tess: you might as well come back and listen.
lexi: Obviously. Honestly, I feel like we're fun. Like people should listen to us.
Tess: my word. Obviously. And I just think that
lexi: But hey, what do I know?
Tess: yeah. And sometimes it probably feels like we're being passive aggressive because we can't say sometimes not everything needs to be said or like it's not. It's trying to find a way to be direct without like genuinely insulting someone.
lexi: D Yes. We're not into being rude. Well
Tess: And because usually even if we might be thinking of like a person or like a like whatever, a situation, that's not like that's the only person or situation that this will pertain to. Like did you ever think that you're unique? You're not. Remember that thing where everybody was like doing the George Washington hair and the pull? And every okay, so we all had like the same childhood. Like you're
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: not special, you're not unique. I mean, like, God made us all a little bit different, but like Humanity is
lexi: You are fearfully made.
Tess: Yes, but like humanity is way more similar than what I think people realize. Like
lexi: For sure.
Tess: We are just we're all very so similar minded. so Yeah. Just because we might be thinking of a particular person or situation in our lives does not mean that it's that's the only person. Everybody knows somebody
lexi: Exactly.
Tess: like that.
lexi: My hair like keeps falling out and it's making me nervous.
Tess: And on that note that means it's probably time to wrap it up.
lexi: Well like it's heavy these days.
Tess: Okay, flex.
lexi: Well it's not like I grew it myself. I paid for it.
Tess: Yeah. True. Guys, I think we're on the just to wrap this up, it's definitely not done yet and we're still gonna have to probably pay a lot of money. Hopefully homeowners will cover all of it. But I think we're like we're just like out of the I don't know stage, which is the worst. Like, do you wanna have to spend the money to fix un I'm talking about under the house, by the way. I don't think I said that.
lexi: I I mean I knew.
Tess: I knew you knew, but like do we wanna have to pay to have it fixed? No. But like the not knowing the next step or the right step, and there might and honestly in this situation there probably was like no like one hundred percent right step. could have went a couple different ways, but like the not knowing which direction we wanted to go was way worse than where we're at now. So hopefully homeowners cuts us a fat check and We can pay to have this corrected and then move forward. Still not done, still like things to be done, but like yeah, out of the not knowing, which is the part that was aging my poor man's the most.
lexi: Quick question.
Tess: Yes.
lexi: What was our podcast on last week? I can't remember.
Tess: Last biblical discipline and legalism.
lexi: Yes. I just got a text and it said I've never related something to more Wow. She can't speak. I've never related more to a podcast than I did yours last week. It's just what I needed. So encouraging. Love you so much.
Tess: Nice. It is nice because I was very nervi I stood by everything that we said, but you never know how people are gonna take it.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: So I love that. a clip from last week on the biblical discipline. It's not going viral, but like it is, it has more traction than what most of ours do on that page, because like we only have like 70 followers. So if you're not following us yet on social media. Please do so. so again, it's definitely not like going viral. I'm going viral. but it is has a little bit of like, no I don't even want to call it traction. Let's call it like skid marks or something.
lexi: Maybe we'll think of something else to call it. I cannot believe you just said that. Make sure you clip that. Clip that because two weeks ago we were clipping my gargantuous pores.
Tess: Can't choose that. I don't even choose the clips, guys. I there I think it's happened one time where I went back and specifically clipped something because it was hilarious. But like our podcast platform does such a great job and they literally pull episodes I mean pull clips from the episode, tell us the rating and which like the chance that it could go viral again. We have yet to go viral. But like it's so I just I just used those. And pick from those. But yes, the one time because you just need to keep your camera back further. I couldn't do anything about it. It was automatic.
lexi: It was it was on purpose. It was she's trying on my downfall. And that's
Tess: Also the what that is kind of like gaining traction since we're not saying skid marks.
lexi: Please know.
Tess: It was still it was still related to like the biblical biblical discipline. So I think that's why it's like people are relating to it. But it was one that like I did a lot of the talking. but it kept going to your face, and your facial expressions were so funny. in fact I had captioned it like stay for watch for the I forget what I capped, but like stay for Lexi's facial expressions because they were like so funny.
lexi: I'm a very expressive person.
Tess: Then you were.
lexi: That's just who I am. You can absolutely Michael says it all the time. He's like, I can tell what you're thinking when I see your face. He's like, You don't have to say a word. And I think I hide it
Tess: Yeah. I'm bad for that too.
lexi: well. That's the embarrassing part.
Tess: Yeah, I know. I think I'm also guilty of that and I wish I wasn't because I I don't want ever like I might think you're crazy, but I don't want you to think that I think you're crazy.
lexi: Right, right. Those thoughts stay in the mind, in the vault.
Tess: And I also have been told that I have an RBF and I don't love that either because like I don't wanna look grouchy all the time, but just because I'm not smiling doesn't mean I'm upset.
lexi: I he says I don't have an RBF He says, but he's like when you're just like sitting like chilling, he's like you don't. He's like, but when you're very unimpressed with something, it shows dramatically.
Tess: Yeah. So you just have a BF, depending on the situation, not resting.
lexi: Nope, never resting. Just like a fully involved BF.
Tess: Yeah. Yeah. Well anyways
lexi: That's a problem for another podcast. That's an problem for
Tess: Mm-hmm.
lexi: episode.
Tess: Mm-hmm. If we actually Yeah,
lexi: Viving with lip combo. gonna lie to you, and this is not me being like this is not me being arrogant, it's not me flexing, I swear. My lips are all natural, okay. But that was kind of a joke. Like that was that was me saying that as a joke. I mean they are, but my mom says I have a really nice natural lip color. So it's
Tess: What's it like to be the favourite?
lexi: Pardon? Have you met our younger brother?
Tess: Yeah. I just is he even around anymore?
lexi: I haven't seen him in a couple of weeks.
Tess: For real?
lexi: Yeah, no, seriously.
Tess: So weird. I mean like I get it. You know, they always say like the boys, you know, they go with the girl's family and I I mean crude I'm gonna find him an orphan so that she has to stay with us, so that he's always around. But it's so weird to like it's so weird to be like living that.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: Like with our brother.
lexi: It's our dad's worst nightmare. He has us.
Tess: Yeah. And so that's why it's just so weird. Like it's so crazy that like several weeks could go by and you just don't see and it's just like weird.
lexi: Mm-hmm.
Tess: Not abnormal. Abnormal
lexi: Right.
Tess: f it's a new season for us. Not
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: abnormal by like stand you know, whatever. But it's just so like crazy.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: Anyways.
lexi: Such is life.
Tess: Such is life. So next week?
lexi: Next week.
Tess: Alright, we'll do it again!
lexi: Guys, you you twisted our arm.
Tess: Alright, yep. And actually, even if you don't, we'll still probably be here yapping in your ears.
lexi: Yeah, we're still gonna be yapping for sure.
Tess: That's one thing about us. We will correct or not. We're happy to give our advice and our opinions and our thoughts
lexi: Always.
Tess: and our musings and our
lexi: Our troubles, our burdens.
Tess: Troubles, cares, wins, losses. I just like, I'm just grateful for the podcast today. I just love doing it. I genuinely, we're not making it big, we're not doing anything special, but I genuinely, and sometimes it is a bore to try to fit it in to the schedule, to have everything ready to go, but like I genuinely love it, which is why I I keep coming back.
lexi: It's like therapy, where therapy meets sister top.
Tess: And nothing's off limits. Alright, fine. No more editing
lexi: There are some things that
Tess: ourselves. We're just gonna let it all fly.
lexi: think that that's a great idea. We're gonna touch base on that.
Tess: Yes, because the Bible does say about the tongue and the damage that it can do. So we're gonna follow that command. I don't know if it's
lexi: Yeah. Yeah.
Tess: actually a command guidance.
lexi: Suggestion?
Tess: Good some things aren't always commandments, they're just good things to do.
lexi: Yes.
Tess: We're gonna hold to that one. So fine. We're not gonna share every Detail.
lexi: Right.
Tess: But you best be known we're gonna give you the jest. The gist. Not the just. The gist. The high
lexi: Yeah. The just the gist.
Tess: level. But if it involves
lexi: Yes.
Tess: her and I, we are usually pretty open.
lexi: Yeah.
Tess: I mean, there's some things that I might not share just if like other people are involved, but like as far as me, myself and I
lexi: I'ma share it.
Tess: I'm gonna share it. Cause you know what? Humanity's all the same and somebody else is probably going through the same thing.
lexi: Probably they probably need to hear that they're not alone.
Tess: Yes girl, I'm as crazy as you are.
lexi: Probably crazier. No.
Tess: But not rude. Try not to be. Again, I'm not perfect. This was not about this was to me and Lexi. It was to Lexi. She needs to work on her boundaries. No, she is too her they're too tight. I'm just kidding. That was all a joke. It was a joke. Passive passive. It
lexi: Wait What do you mean too tight?
Tess: was just a joke.
lexi: I feel like that had something to it, but I'm not even gonna text her after this and ask her about it. We're gonna we're gonna touch base next week.
Tess: Where it was not. It was a j I can't even give you an example.
lexi: Work credit.
Tess: All right, we'll be touching base next week.
lexi: Just kidding. Okay. We will see you guys next week. It's been lovely chatting with you. Hope you enjoyed all the things.
Tess: Have a great weekend.
lexi: If you want the lip combo, message Tessa, because I'm not answering Instagram.
Tess: No. No, message Lexi. Her handle is Lexanne twenty-eight,
lexi: You don't
Tess: I think.
lexi: Don't do this to me right now.
Tess: I don't know if that's actually right, but
lexi: Don't put me on like that. I don't want to be followed.
Tess: Okay, fine. You can message us on Instagram. As Sisters and Sush Pod.
lexi: Yeah, I think. Yeah.
Tess: You'll find us. The picture matches the one on here. It's all the same. You'll see our faces. We're all over I mean, we're just everywhere. We're out there.
lexi: Whether you you turn a corner, we're there, whether you like it or not.
Tess: We'll slap you in the face. Seriously, this has been the longest ending. Alright, we're done.
lexi: It's so
Tess: We'll see you next week. Bye.
Bye.
