OM DENNE EPISODE
Before you can do shadow work, you need to understand what happens when your psyche fights back.
In this episode, I break down 20+ ego defense mechanisms — what they are, why they exist, and what they're actually trying to protect inside you. This isn't just theory. These defenses show up constantly in my 1:1 practice, in my own journey, and now in the comments of my viral videos (which... said a lot).
We cover everything from repression and projection to intellectualization, splitting, projective identification, passive aggression, somatization, and beyond.
You'll also learn why your defenses tend to get loudest right before a real identity shift — and why that's actually a sign you're doing something right.
Whether you use Jungian, IFS, or Freudian language, this episode gives you a framework to recognize when a protector has been activated, get curious instead of shameful, and start working with your psyche instead of against it.
In this episode:
The difference between repression and suppression
Projection, displacement, reaction formation — the big hitters
Why intellectualization feels like progress but keeps you stuck
Splitting, introjection, and identity-protecting defenses
Somatization, dissociation, and when your body is the defense
How to know when you're ready to push through vs. when to wait
This episode was made for my REBORN community, but it's for anyone doing serious inner work.
