OM DENNE EPISODE
Editor Mickey Conlon is joined by associate editor Quinton Amundson and reporter Luke Mandato in an episode brought to you by Missions and Martyrs, the Registers’ new commemorative magazine celebrating 100 years of the Martyrs’ Shrine in Midland, Ontario. Mandato opens by sharing insights from his look into human longevity through a Catholic lens, exploring modern efforts to extend life and what one prominent McGill professor has to say about it. The team celebrates a significant development on Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), as a special parliamentary committee recommends an indefinite delay in expanding it to those with mental illness. Mandato looks into an upcoming interfaith walk in Toronto aimed at highlighting homelessness as the World Cup approaches, including his conversation with Fr. Prakash Lohale of the Mary Ward Centre. The episode closes on a high note with Canada’s strong start at the FIFA World Cup, spotlighting Catholic school graduates like Cyle Larin and Richie Laryea, with Amundson sharing his talk with one of Laryea’s former teachers at St. Jerome.
