OM DENNE EPISODE
P Group PLC (LSE:IPO) CEO Greg Smith spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s appointment by Aberdeen Investments to manage a UK venture growth portfolio within the CG Scottish Widows Growth LTAF.
The partnership aims to channel long-term workplace pension savings into high-growth British science and technology businesses, helping address a shortage of follow-on funding for companies ready to commercialise and expand.
Smith discussed the significance of the mandate and the first investments, which span quantum computing, advanced battery technology and AI-enabled healthcare. These include Oxford Quantum Circuits, Quantum Motion, Nyobolt and Genomics Limited.
He explained how the initiative brings together IP Group’s investment expertise with institutional capital, giving pension savers access to private-market opportunities traditionally dominated by institutional investors.
The discussion also explored the potential to expand the model over time, supporting the growth of British technology businesses while seeking attractive long-term returns for savers.
Smith said the partnership could be the beginning of a much larger opportunity to connect pension capital with the next generation of UK technology leaders.
