Ep. 35: Should Christians Share Good Deeds Publicly?

In this episode, Kenny Barnwell and Shannon Thompson have an honest conversation about public faith, good deeds, social media, mentorship, judgment, and the heart posture behind helping others.

Kenny brings up Matthew 6, where Jesus teaches about giving in secret and not practicing righteousness in front of others just to be praised.

That leads into a bigger conversation:

Is it wrong for Christians to do good publicly?

Kenny and Shannon talk through the difference between doing good to be seen and doing good in a way that inspires others, spreads the gospel, and gives glory to God.

The conversation touches on pastors, content creators, street preachers, coaches, public ministry, social media, and the fine line between using a platform for God and letting pride creep in.

Questions like:

• Should Christians do good deeds publicly?

• What did Jesus mean when He said not to let your left hand know what your right hand is doing?

• Is posting acts of kindness online always wrong?

• How do we know the difference between pride and obedience?

• Can social media be used as a tool for ministry?

• How do we avoid judging people who are actually in the arena doing the work?

• What does it mean to give God the glory instead of seeking attention for ourselves?

And more...

We do not pretend to have all the answers. This is a real conversation between two Christians wrestling with Scripture, obedience, discernment, and what it means to live publicly for Christ without making it about ourselves.

This episode is a reminder that heart posture matters.

Motives matter.

Discernment matters.

But fear of being judged should not stop us from being bold, generous, and obedient.

Do good.

Love people.

Use what God has given you.

Give Him the glory.

And do not be ashamed to let your life point people back to Jesus.
