Is Air Conditioning the Greatest Invention? | The Fat Electrician Reaction

Was air conditioning one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century?

In this reaction episode, we take on The Fat Electrician’s hilarious argument that modern life as we know it might not exist without air conditioning. From Willis Carrier’s breakthrough in 1902 and the rise of air-conditioned movie theaters to server rooms, modern cities, European heat waves and the question we really need answered: what the heck is “window cheese”?

Then we bring it home with our own memories of growing up around window units, fans, houses designed for natural airflow and the days when running the air conditioner all day felt like a luxury. We even wander into another technology that once seemed almost unbelievable: the microwave oven.

Do you agree that air conditioning belongs near the top of the greatest inventions of the 20th century? If not, what invention beats it?

Drop your answer in the comments and tell us your earliest memory of air conditioning, window units or your family's first microwave.
