OM DENNE EPISODE
You are not disposable. People can walk out of your life — but that has nothing to do with your value, your worth, or who God made you to be.
This is one of the most personal episodes Norense has recorded. In the span of two months, he lost two friendships — both, he believes, over the same thing: walking in the light and being misunderstood for it. Recorded from his Brooklyn sublet with just eight days left before another move, he opens up raw about disappointment, disrespect, and the temptation to shrink yourself down after people you invested in turn on you.
But this isn't a bitter episode. It's a leadership episode. Norense unpacks why your identity can't be built on your role in a friend group, why "hurt people can heal people," and why the answer to relational pain isn't isolation — it's going again, loving again, and serving again.
In this episode:
- Why you are not disposable — even when people treat you like you are
- The danger of building your identity around your role in your friend group
- Why nobody has the right to change how you see yourself based on one conflict
- How the enemy uses "pattern recognition" to turn two hard experiences into a lie about your future
- Standing in your convictions and having self-love — the balance between tolerance and boundaries
- Why walking in the light will sometimes cost you relationships — and how to make peace with that
- The honest challenge of platonic friendships, boundaries, and being misunderstood
- Why this life is about service, not survival — and how "hurt people can heal people"
- A closing prayer for anyone hurting from a relationship that ended
Key Truth: "Where you are is not who you are. Nobody has the right to change the way you see yourself based on a situation or a conversation."
Key Verse: Proverbs 4:23 — Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
