00:00:09.880 --> 00:00:13.160
Hi there, I am Jeff,
and welcome to history and factoids about today's
2
00:00:13.240 --> 00:00:19.320
to Buy Cool media Day. September
the second, the charcoal Last and Downlong
3
00:00:21.000 --> 00:00:35.640
fool, the bunch of crazy Redness
party harder than the red sor you put
4
00:00:35.719 --> 00:00:44.520
the tailgate da. It is National
Tailgating Day. Football season starts this weekend,
5
00:00:44.560 --> 00:00:48.320
so that means tailgating season starts.
Also tailgating. It goes back a
6
00:00:48.399 --> 00:00:52.039
lot farther than there have been tailgates. The Romans, they would party outside
7
00:00:52.079 --> 00:00:56.200
the arena before the chariot races.
In the first US tailgating party, Yeah,
8
00:00:56.240 --> 00:00:59.920
it took place in eighteen sixty one
during the Civil War, supporters of
9
00:01:00.039 --> 00:01:03.159
the Union Army. They camped out
before the Battle of bull Run, set
10
00:01:03.240 --> 00:01:06.719
up picnics on a hill overlooking where
the battle would take place, had all
11
00:01:06.840 --> 00:01:08.599
kinds of food and drink. I
didn't turn out so well. The South
12
00:01:08.640 --> 00:01:12.640
whooped the North button chase the Northern
soldiers right through the spectators up on the
13
00:01:12.719 --> 00:01:17.120
hill. Now you shouldn't have to
worry about that at your tailgators. You
14
00:01:17.200 --> 00:01:19.359
know, eighty percent of all Americans
have attended a tailgate in some form.
15
00:01:19.439 --> 00:01:23.159
Yeah, neither for a sporting a
van or like a concert or something.
16
00:01:23.439 --> 00:01:26.400
So that means y'all know what to
do better, yet you know whose tailgate
17
00:01:26.439 --> 00:01:27.879
to get up. So have a
good time, be safe, and try
18
00:01:27.920 --> 00:01:32.519
and make it into the game.
So he's going on in entertainment on September.
19
00:01:32.599 --> 00:01:36.200
The second Let's Go Back to nineteen
sixty nine number one album with Johnny
20
00:01:36.280 --> 00:01:40.439
Cash at San Quentin Rolling Stones had
the number one song with honky Tonk Woman.
21
00:02:00.280 --> 00:02:04.439
Johnny Cash had the number one country
song with a boy named Sue.
22
00:02:04.599 --> 00:02:07.199
Well. I knew that slave was
mon sweet dead from a worn up picture
23
00:02:07.240 --> 00:02:10.680
that my mother's head, and I
knew that scar on his cheap gun as
24
00:02:10.759 --> 00:02:16.159
evil eye. He was big and
band and gray and old. Looked at
25
00:02:16.280 --> 00:02:21.800
him and my blood ran told us. My name is Sue. How do
26
00:02:22.080 --> 00:02:27.960
you do? Third number one book
was The Love Machine by Jacqueline Suzanne Todd.
27
00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:31.599
Movie was The Trouble with Girls Elvis
he married. He's managing a traveling
28
00:02:31.680 --> 00:02:35.479
road show and he has to try
and keep them together as they go through
29
00:02:35.599 --> 00:02:39.680
small town America. Also stars Marylyn
Mason and Nicole Jeffee. It was nineteen
30
00:02:39.680 --> 00:02:43.599
o two. The first science ficture
movie ever came out of course It was
31
00:02:43.680 --> 00:02:46.400
a silent movie. It's called a
Trip to the Moon. A let's se
32
00:02:46.439 --> 00:02:51.360
It happened in the world on September
the second, sixteen sixty six. The
33
00:02:51.439 --> 00:02:55.400
Great Fire London happened. Thomas Farner. He was baker and now he supplies
34
00:02:55.439 --> 00:03:00.000
bread to the Royal Navy and he
big personally for King Charles A Secon.
35
00:03:00.759 --> 00:03:04.000
His house in bakery were I putting
lane in London. Now in the early
36
00:03:04.120 --> 00:03:07.080
morning hours, his oven was still
ruining, burning, you know that kind
37
00:03:07.120 --> 00:03:08.120
of stuff. Yeah, it made
it easier to start off the day.
38
00:03:08.560 --> 00:03:12.280
Well, it shot some sparks out
and caught his whole house on fire.
39
00:03:12.360 --> 00:03:15.960
The family was able to escape out
an upstairs window. The maid was downstairs.
40
00:03:15.000 --> 00:03:19.280
She didn't make it out. The
fire then quickly spread to his neighbors
41
00:03:19.360 --> 00:03:22.800
houses, and the fire burned for
four days. Eighty percent of London was
42
00:03:22.879 --> 00:03:25.759
burned to the ground. Seventy thousand
to eighty thousand people who lived there were
43
00:03:25.840 --> 00:03:30.080
homeless. Surprisingly, only six people
died and then included in Farriner's maid.
44
00:03:30.919 --> 00:03:35.520
Now medieval London it was no more. Well, it turns out that was
45
00:03:35.560 --> 00:03:38.639
a good thing. See medieval London. It was a craphole. It was
46
00:03:38.719 --> 00:03:44.000
absolutely filthy. The river was just
bras sewage, the streets were just covered
47
00:03:44.039 --> 00:03:46.719
in refuse and animal poop. But
it all burned up. Now they could
48
00:03:46.719 --> 00:03:51.719
start all over again fresh. The
river, which had been so dirty and
49
00:03:51.759 --> 00:03:53.639
disgusting, it burned so good that
it was cleaner than it had been in
50
00:03:53.680 --> 00:03:58.039
over a hundred years. Then they
redesigned the city and built it with fire
51
00:03:58.120 --> 00:04:01.000
brakes and a system to remove waste
and excrementing that kind of stuff. Now,
52
00:04:01.039 --> 00:04:03.680
outside of the six people who died
in London became better than it had
53
00:04:03.680 --> 00:04:08.639
ever been before. You know,
let's just stay in Great Benton. Seventeen
54
00:04:08.719 --> 00:04:13.000
fifty two, all of Great Britain, including the territories and even the colonies
55
00:04:13.039 --> 00:04:16.160
in America, they went from the
Julian calendar to the Gregarian calendar, so
56
00:04:16.319 --> 00:04:20.480
instead of today being September two,
it was now September fourteenth, and New
57
00:04:20.560 --> 00:04:25.160
Year's Day was now on January first
instead of March twenty fifth. Well,
58
00:04:25.319 --> 00:04:30.240
that created Briot's all over the British
Empire, from London and all over England
59
00:04:30.360 --> 00:04:33.120
to America to the Caribbean islands.
People were pissed. They believed that the
60
00:04:33.160 --> 00:04:38.399
British government stole eleven days from their
lives. And yes, the Gregarian calendar
61
00:04:38.519 --> 00:04:43.560
is what the world uses today.
Eighteen oh seven, as France's Napoleon was
62
00:04:43.680 --> 00:04:46.680
raising hell all over Europe, Denmark
left there again and prepared to surrender to
63
00:04:46.759 --> 00:04:49.920
him, when all of a sudden, the British Navy showed up in Copenhagen.
64
00:04:50.319 --> 00:04:54.120
Well, the Danes they thought,
holy crap, Britain came to save
65
00:04:54.240 --> 00:04:58.800
us. Well, then Britain started
launching their cannons and fire bombs and phosphorus
66
00:04:58.839 --> 00:05:01.600
bombs and sank the entire Denmark's navy. Yeah, England did not want to
67
00:05:01.680 --> 00:05:05.399
Napoleon to get those navy ships.
Nineteen oh one, when he was given
68
00:05:05.439 --> 00:05:10.199
a speech, Theodore Roosevelt. His
speech was about a strong foreign policy.
69
00:05:10.240 --> 00:05:14.759
He said that famous line, speak
softly and carry a big stick. Now,
70
00:05:14.839 --> 00:05:17.120
they didn't always name hurricanes, like
in nineteen thirty five. That hurricane
71
00:05:17.160 --> 00:05:20.600
is simply known as the Labor Day
Hurricane. Well, that made landfall in
72
00:05:20.680 --> 00:05:25.240
Florida as a Category five. It's
the most intensive hurricane ever to hit the
73
00:05:25.319 --> 00:05:28.560
United States. Now, I didn't
even really hit a populated area, but
74
00:05:28.680 --> 00:05:30.560
it's still killed four and thirty two
people. But none have ever been bigger
75
00:05:30.639 --> 00:05:34.879
since nineteen forty four. Future President
George H. W. Bush. He
76
00:05:35.040 --> 00:05:39.120
was a Navy pilot. Today he
had to parachuet out of his plane after
77
00:05:39.160 --> 00:05:42.279
he got shot down over the Pacific
Ocean. It was during a mission in
78
00:05:42.360 --> 00:05:45.959
World War two. Now he was
rescued after four hours by the United States
79
00:05:46.000 --> 00:05:47.879
submarine the fitting Back. Then he
had to stay on the Finback for a
80
00:05:47.920 --> 00:05:51.560
month in order to get back to
his ship. Nineteen forty five, aboard
81
00:05:51.600 --> 00:05:57.560
the battleship to USS Missouri, Japan
officially signed its surrender papers, officially ending
82
00:05:57.639 --> 00:06:01.240
World War Two. On that same
day, Vietnam Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam's
83
00:06:01.240 --> 00:06:05.839
independence from France. Yeah, we
know how that turns out. Nineteen sixty
84
00:06:05.920 --> 00:06:10.959
nine, the first ATM machine in
the United States started dispensing cash the customers
85
00:06:11.000 --> 00:06:15.040
of the Chemical Bank in Rockville Center, New York. Two thousand and twelve.
86
00:06:15.120 --> 00:06:18.279
Egypt, they and their law that
female TV reporters had to wear veils.
87
00:06:19.000 --> 00:06:21.879
No, I haven't seen any female
Egyptian TV reporter, so I don't
88
00:06:21.879 --> 00:06:28.839
know if it's a good thing or
not. Cope cope coat coat, show
89
00:06:29.480 --> 00:06:34.800
this shigar. Okay, we're gonna
pay this Shigara gonna this shigar fday,
90
00:06:35.120 --> 00:06:40.519
and you know we don't give up, because all right, let's see who's
91
00:06:40.600 --> 00:07:04.000
born on September. The second call, that was Tia Carrera singing the song
92
00:07:04.079 --> 00:07:10.439
Allowai'i. It was written by Lily
Ukalani. She was the last Queen of
93
00:07:10.519 --> 00:07:13.959
Hawaii. She wrote it while she
was prison. Yeah, her monarchy was
94
00:07:14.040 --> 00:07:16.519
overthrown in eighteen ninety three, and
yes, the coup to overthrow her was
95
00:07:16.759 --> 00:07:20.920
led by the United States. Now, once it got overthrown, it became
96
00:07:20.959 --> 00:07:25.040
the Republic of Hawaii, and then
it was quickly annexed with the United States.
97
00:07:25.600 --> 00:07:28.360
She was in prison for eight months
and then given a full parton as
98
00:07:28.399 --> 00:07:31.399
a regular citizen, but she couldn't
consider herself having any royalty at all.
99
00:07:32.319 --> 00:07:38.120
Lilianni she was born in Honolulu in
eighteen thirty eight. She only ran from
100
00:07:38.120 --> 00:07:41.519
eighteen ninety one to eighteen ninety three. So her brother was king, but
101
00:07:41.639 --> 00:07:44.519
he died unexpectingly, so she was
put in charge, and that's when the
102
00:07:44.600 --> 00:07:46.839
United States decided to make their move. She did marry a white guy from
103
00:07:46.879 --> 00:07:50.240
Mainland in eighteen sixty two. They
were together until he died in eighteen ninety
104
00:07:50.279 --> 00:07:55.600
one. She died from overall bad
health in nineteen seventeen at seventy nine years
105
00:07:55.639 --> 00:07:59.040
old. Now she did take the
United States to court for taking all her
106
00:07:59.120 --> 00:08:01.360
land and a nine eleven. She
received one two hundred and fifty dollars a
107
00:08:01.439 --> 00:08:22.879
month lifetime pension. Rick Lewis was
the lead singer for the band The Silhouettes.
108
00:08:24.120 --> 00:08:26.639
Was born in Philadelphia nineteen thirty three. That song get a Job,
109
00:08:26.720 --> 00:08:31.319
that's pretty much their biggest hit.
They did perform from nineteen fifty six to
110
00:08:31.439 --> 00:08:35.159
nineteen sixty eight. Then they got
back together and performed on the oldie circuit
111
00:08:35.159 --> 00:08:37.600
throughout the eighties and nineties. Ricky
die in two thousand and five at seventy
112
00:08:37.639 --> 00:08:41.720
one years old. Actress Mary Joe
Catlett She's eighty five. She was born
113
00:08:41.759 --> 00:08:46.159
in Denver, Colorado, on nineteen
thirty eight. She's most known for voicing
114
00:08:46.200 --> 00:08:50.919
Missus Puff on SpongeBob SquarePants. She's
done it since nineteen ninety nine. She
115
00:08:50.159 --> 00:08:54.080
was on The Smurfs from nineteen eighty
one to nineteen eighty nine, and she
116
00:08:54.159 --> 00:08:56.559
was on the TV show Different Strokes
from eighty two to eighty six. So
117
00:08:56.639 --> 00:09:00.799
in the movie she was in were
sem tough. That's little Hora House in
118
00:09:00.840 --> 00:09:05.879
Texas. And let's be cops.
Not been from nothing, you got a
119
00:09:05.919 --> 00:09:20.440
half nothing, not been from nothing, you gotta half. That's Billy Preston.
120
00:09:20.559 --> 00:09:24.440
He was born in Houston, Texas, in nineteen forty six. In
121
00:09:24.480 --> 00:09:28.399
the nineteen sixties, Billy was the
top studio recording keyboardists around. He played
122
00:09:28.440 --> 00:09:33.320
on albums with Everybody, We're Not
Gonna Beatles, Rolling Stones, Little Richard,
123
00:09:33.399 --> 00:09:35.919
Everley Brothers, you name it.
He probably played keyboard for their albums.
124
00:09:37.440 --> 00:09:39.919
Now. He had a little success
as a solo artist in the nineteen
125
00:09:39.960 --> 00:09:43.320
seventy and some of them heads right, nothing from Nothing, Strutton, fancy
126
00:09:43.440 --> 00:09:46.159
Lady. Now. For almost all
of his adult life, the only person
127
00:09:46.240 --> 00:09:50.559
he told in the music industry that
he was gay was Keith Richard from the
128
00:09:50.639 --> 00:09:52.559
Rolling Stones. Yeah. I probably
didn't think there need to be awaiting Keith
129
00:09:52.600 --> 00:09:56.480
would remember it. But Billy did
come out a couple of years before he
130
00:09:56.559 --> 00:09:58.039
died. He died in two thousand
and six at fifty nine years old from
131
00:09:58.080 --> 00:10:03.120
kidney failure. Actor Mark harm And
He's seventy two. He was born in
132
00:10:03.240 --> 00:10:05.639
Burbank, California, in nineteen fifty
one. In college He was a starting
133
00:10:05.720 --> 00:10:09.440
quarterback for UCLA for two seasons.
Then he graduated kum laude and went into
134
00:10:09.480 --> 00:10:13.240
acting. First got none for the
TV series Saint Elsewhere, then Chicago,
135
00:10:13.320 --> 00:10:18.799
Hope in Cis some of his movies
or Summer School Wide Earth Freaky Friday married
136
00:10:20.159 --> 00:10:22.720
actress Pam Dauber in nineteen eighty seven
and they have two sons now. Mark
137
00:10:22.840 --> 00:10:28.600
dad was famous sportscast broadcaster Tom Harmon. It was actually a Heisman Trophy winner
138
00:10:28.600 --> 00:10:31.840

139
00:10:31.879 --> 00:10:35.320
in nineteen sixty four in Beirut Lebanon. Pretty much grew up in Canada,
140
00:10:35.360 --> 00:10:39.360
though first got known playing Ted and
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. He's made
141
00:10:39.399 --> 00:10:43.080
over seventy movies, so he's pretty
hard working actor. His movies were made
142
00:10:43.080 --> 00:10:48.240
over four point six billion dollars.
He's considered one of the most private celebrities
143
00:10:48.279 --> 00:10:52.120
there is. He really shocked everybody
in twenty nineteen when he revealed that he
144
00:10:52.159 --> 00:10:56.440
had had a girlfriend since two thousand
and nine. Actress Sam Ohiak is fifty
145
00:10:56.480 --> 00:10:58.320
seven. She's born of Vera Cruz, Mexico, in nineteen sixty six.
146
00:10:58.679 --> 00:11:01.919
She's are out acting in Mexico.
Then she came to the United States in
147
00:11:01.960 --> 00:11:05.720

got married in two thousand and nine and
150
00:11:13.360 --> 00:11:18.320
she does go by Samahayak Penult and
they have a daughter. Alrighty today,
151
00:11:18.480 --> 00:11:22.679
stupid fact to it, it's gonna
win you a beer. You can hear
152
00:11:22.720 --> 00:11:26.440
a blue whales heartbeat two miles away. Well, thanks for being there for
153
00:11:26.480 --> 00:11:28.000
you a chance to at cool media
dot com. That's cool with three Oh,
154
00:11:28.120 --> 00:11:31.639
let's see what we're doing over there. Let's send a day with writer
155
00:11:31.840 --> 00:11:33.639
J. R. R. Tolkien, you know, the Lord of the
156
00:11:33.720 --> 00:11:35.919
Rings guy. He died today in
nineteen seventy three, at eighty one years
157
00:11:35.960 --> 00:11:39.840
old. Short cuts make long delays. You guys, have an awesome day
158
00:11:39.879 --> 00:11:41.720
and we'll talk tomorrow.
1
00:00:09.880 --> 00:00:13.160
Hi there, I am Jeff,
and welcome to history and factoids about today's
2
00:00:13.240 --> 00:00:19.320
to Buy Cool media Day. September
the second, the charcoal Last and Downlong
3
00:00:21.000 --> 00:00:35.640
fool, the bunch of crazy Redness
party harder than the red sor you put
4
00:00:35.719 --> 00:00:44.520
the tailgate da. It is National
Tailgating Day. Football season starts this weekend,
5
00:00:44.560 --> 00:00:48.320
so that means tailgating season starts.
Also tailgating. It goes back a
6
00:00:48.399 --> 00:00:52.039
lot farther than there have been tailgates. The Romans, they would party outside
7
00:00:52.079 --> 00:00:56.200
the arena before the chariot races.
In the first US tailgating party, Yeah,
8
00:00:56.240 --> 00:00:59.920
it took place in eighteen sixty one
during the Civil War, supporters of
9
00:01:00.039 --> 00:01:03.159
the Union Army. They camped out
before the Battle of bull Run, set
10
00:01:03.240 --> 00:01:06.719
up picnics on a hill overlooking where
the battle would take place, had all
11
00:01:06.840 --> 00:01:08.599
kinds of food and drink. I
didn't turn out so well. The South
12
00:01:08.640 --> 00:01:12.640
whooped the North button chase the Northern
soldiers right through the spectators up on the
13
00:01:12.719 --> 00:01:17.120
hill. Now you shouldn't have to
worry about that at your tailgators. You
14
00:01:17.200 --> 00:01:19.359
know, eighty percent of all Americans
have attended a tailgate in some form.
15
00:01:19.439 --> 00:01:23.159
Yeah, neither for a sporting a
van or like a concert or something.
16
00:01:23.439 --> 00:01:26.400
So that means y'all know what to
do better, yet you know whose tailgate
17
00:01:26.439 --> 00:01:27.879
to get up. So have a
good time, be safe, and try
18
00:01:27.920 --> 00:01:32.519
and make it into the game.
So he's going on in entertainment on September.
19
00:01:32.599 --> 00:01:36.200
The second Let's Go Back to nineteen
sixty nine number one album with Johnny
20
00:01:36.280 --> 00:01:40.439
Cash at San Quentin Rolling Stones had
the number one song with honky Tonk Woman.
21
00:02:00.280 --> 00:02:04.439
Johnny Cash had the number one country
song with a boy named Sue.
22
00:02:04.599 --> 00:02:07.199
Well. I knew that slave was
mon sweet dead from a worn up picture
23
00:02:07.240 --> 00:02:10.680
that my mother's head, and I
knew that scar on his cheap gun as
24
00:02:10.759 --> 00:02:16.159
evil eye. He was big and
band and gray and old. Looked at
25
00:02:16.280 --> 00:02:21.800
him and my blood ran told us. My name is Sue. How do
26
00:02:22.080 --> 00:02:27.960
you do? Third number one book
was The Love Machine by Jacqueline Suzanne Todd.
27
00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:31.599
Movie was The Trouble with Girls Elvis
he married. He's managing a traveling
28
00:02:31.680 --> 00:02:35.479
road show and he has to try
and keep them together as they go through
29
00:02:35.599 --> 00:02:39.680
small town America. Also stars Marylyn
Mason and Nicole Jeffee. It was nineteen
30
00:02:39.680 --> 00:02:43.599
o two. The first science ficture
movie ever came out of course It was
31
00:02:43.680 --> 00:02:46.400
a silent movie. It's called a
Trip to the Moon. A let's se
32
00:02:46.439 --> 00:02:51.360
It happened in the world on September
the second, sixteen sixty six. The
33
00:02:51.439 --> 00:02:55.400
Great Fire London happened. Thomas Farner. He was baker and now he supplies
34
00:02:55.439 --> 00:03:00.000
bread to the Royal Navy and he
big personally for King Charles A Secon.
35
00:03:00.759 --> 00:03:04.000
His house in bakery were I putting
lane in London. Now in the early
36
00:03:04.120 --> 00:03:07.080
morning hours, his oven was still
ruining, burning, you know that kind
37
00:03:07.120 --> 00:03:08.120
of stuff. Yeah, it made
it easier to start off the day.
38
00:03:08.560 --> 00:03:12.280
Well, it shot some sparks out
and caught his whole house on fire.
39
00:03:12.360 --> 00:03:15.960
The family was able to escape out
an upstairs window. The maid was downstairs.
40
00:03:15.000 --> 00:03:19.280
She didn't make it out. The
fire then quickly spread to his neighbors
41
00:03:19.360 --> 00:03:22.800
houses, and the fire burned for
four days. Eighty percent of London was
42
00:03:22.879 --> 00:03:25.759
burned to the ground. Seventy thousand
to eighty thousand people who lived there were
43
00:03:25.840 --> 00:03:30.080
homeless. Surprisingly, only six people
died and then included in Farriner's maid.
44
00:03:30.919 --> 00:03:35.520
Now medieval London it was no more. Well, it turns out that was
45
00:03:35.560 --> 00:03:38.639
a good thing. See medieval London. It was a craphole. It was
46
00:03:38.719 --> 00:03:44.000
absolutely filthy. The river was just
bras sewage, the streets were just covered
47
00:03:44.039 --> 00:03:46.719
in refuse and animal poop. But
it all burned up. Now they could
48
00:03:46.719 --> 00:03:51.719
start all over again fresh. The
river, which had been so dirty and
49
00:03:51.759 --> 00:03:53.639
disgusting, it burned so good that
it was cleaner than it had been in
50
00:03:53.680 --> 00:03:58.039
over a hundred years. Then they
redesigned the city and built it with fire
51
00:03:58.120 --> 00:04:01.000
brakes and a system to remove waste
and excrementing that kind of stuff. Now,
52
00:04:01.039 --> 00:04:03.680
outside of the six people who died
in London became better than it had
53
00:04:03.680 --> 00:04:08.639
ever been before. You know,
let's just stay in Great Benton. Seventeen
54
00:04:08.719 --> 00:04:13.000
fifty two, all of Great Britain, including the territories and even the colonies
55
00:04:13.039 --> 00:04:16.160
in America, they went from the
Julian calendar to the Gregarian calendar, so
56
00:04:16.319 --> 00:04:20.480
instead of today being September two,
it was now September fourteenth, and New
57
00:04:20.560 --> 00:04:25.160
Year's Day was now on January first
instead of March twenty fifth. Well,
58
00:04:25.319 --> 00:04:30.240
that created Briot's all over the British
Empire, from London and all over England
59
00:04:30.360 --> 00:04:33.120
to America to the Caribbean islands.
People were pissed. They believed that the
60
00:04:33.160 --> 00:04:38.399
British government stole eleven days from their
lives. And yes, the Gregarian calendar
61
00:04:38.519 --> 00:04:43.560
is what the world uses today.
Eighteen oh seven, as France's Napoleon was
62
00:04:43.680 --> 00:04:46.680
raising hell all over Europe, Denmark
left there again and prepared to surrender to
63
00:04:46.759 --> 00:04:49.920
him, when all of a sudden, the British Navy showed up in Copenhagen.
64
00:04:50.319 --> 00:04:54.120
Well, the Danes they thought,
holy crap, Britain came to save
65
00:04:54.240 --> 00:04:58.800
us. Well, then Britain started
launching their cannons and fire bombs and phosphorus
66
00:04:58.839 --> 00:05:01.600
bombs and sank the entire Denmark's navy. Yeah, England did not want to
67
00:05:01.680 --> 00:05:05.399
Napoleon to get those navy ships.
Nineteen oh one, when he was given
68
00:05:05.439 --> 00:05:10.199
a speech, Theodore Roosevelt. His
speech was about a strong foreign policy.
69
00:05:10.240 --> 00:05:14.759
He said that famous line, speak
softly and carry a big stick. Now,
70
00:05:14.839 --> 00:05:17.120
they didn't always name hurricanes, like
in nineteen thirty five. That hurricane
71
00:05:17.160 --> 00:05:20.600
is simply known as the Labor Day
Hurricane. Well, that made landfall in
72
00:05:20.680 --> 00:05:25.240
Florida as a Category five. It's
the most intensive hurricane ever to hit the
73
00:05:25.319 --> 00:05:28.560
United States. Now, I didn't
even really hit a populated area, but
74
00:05:28.680 --> 00:05:30.560
it's still killed four and thirty two
people. But none have ever been bigger
75
00:05:30.639 --> 00:05:34.879
since nineteen forty four. Future President
George H. W. Bush. He
76
00:05:35.040 --> 00:05:39.120
was a Navy pilot. Today he
had to parachuet out of his plane after
77
00:05:39.160 --> 00:05:42.279
he got shot down over the Pacific
Ocean. It was during a mission in
78
00:05:42.360 --> 00:05:45.959
World War two. Now he was
rescued after four hours by the United States
79
00:05:46.000 --> 00:05:47.879
submarine the fitting Back. Then he
had to stay on the Finback for a
80
00:05:47.920 --> 00:05:51.560
month in order to get back to
his ship. Nineteen forty five, aboard
81
00:05:51.600 --> 00:05:57.560
the battleship to USS Missouri, Japan
officially signed its surrender papers, officially ending
82
00:05:57.639 --> 00:06:01.240
World War Two. On that same
day, Vietnam Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam's
83
00:06:01.240 --> 00:06:05.839
independence from France. Yeah, we
know how that turns out. Nineteen sixty
84
00:06:05.920 --> 00:06:10.959
nine, the first ATM machine in
the United States started dispensing cash the customers
85
00:06:11.000 --> 00:06:15.040
of the Chemical Bank in Rockville Center, New York. Two thousand and twelve.
86
00:06:15.120 --> 00:06:18.279
Egypt, they and their law that
female TV reporters had to wear veils.
87
00:06:19.000 --> 00:06:21.879
No, I haven't seen any female
Egyptian TV reporter, so I don't
88
00:06:21.879 --> 00:06:28.839
know if it's a good thing or
not. Cope cope coat coat, show
89
00:06:29.480 --> 00:06:34.800
this shigar. Okay, we're gonna
pay this Shigara gonna this shigar fday,
90
00:06:35.120 --> 00:06:40.519
and you know we don't give up, because all right, let's see who's
91
00:06:40.600 --> 00:07:04.000
born on September. The second call, that was Tia Carrera singing the song
92
00:07:04.079 --> 00:07:10.439
Allowai'i. It was written by Lily
Ukalani. She was the last Queen of
93
00:07:10.519 --> 00:07:13.959
Hawaii. She wrote it while she
was prison. Yeah, her monarchy was
94
00:07:14.040 --> 00:07:16.519
overthrown in eighteen ninety three, and
yes, the coup to overthrow her was
95
00:07:16.759 --> 00:07:20.920
led by the United States. Now, once it got overthrown, it became
96
00:07:20.959 --> 00:07:25.040
the Republic of Hawaii, and then
it was quickly annexed with the United States.
97
00:07:25.600 --> 00:07:28.360
She was in prison for eight months
and then given a full parton as
98
00:07:28.399 --> 00:07:31.399
a regular citizen, but she couldn't
consider herself having any royalty at all.
99
00:07:32.319 --> 00:07:38.120
Lilianni she was born in Honolulu in
eighteen thirty eight. She only ran from
100
00:07:38.120 --> 00:07:41.519
eighteen ninety one to eighteen ninety three. So her brother was king, but
101
00:07:41.639 --> 00:07:44.519
he died unexpectingly, so she was
put in charge, and that's when the
102
00:07:44.600 --> 00:07:46.839
United States decided to make their move. She did marry a white guy from
103
00:07:46.879 --> 00:07:50.240
Mainland in eighteen sixty two. They
were together until he died in eighteen ninety
104
00:07:50.279 --> 00:07:55.600
one. She died from overall bad
health in nineteen seventeen at seventy nine years
105
00:07:55.639 --> 00:07:59.040
old. Now she did take the
United States to court for taking all her
106
00:07:59.120 --> 00:08:01.360
land and a nine eleven. She
received one two hundred and fifty dollars a
107
00:08:01.439 --> 00:08:22.879
month lifetime pension. Rick Lewis was
the lead singer for the band The Silhouettes.
108
00:08:24.120 --> 00:08:26.639
Was born in Philadelphia nineteen thirty three. That song get a Job,
109
00:08:26.720 --> 00:08:31.319
that's pretty much their biggest hit.
They did perform from nineteen fifty six to
110
00:08:31.439 --> 00:08:35.159
nineteen sixty eight. Then they got
back together and performed on the oldie circuit
111
00:08:35.159 --> 00:08:37.600
throughout the eighties and nineties. Ricky
die in two thousand and five at seventy
112
00:08:37.639 --> 00:08:41.720
one years old. Actress Mary Joe
Catlett She's eighty five. She was born
113
00:08:41.759 --> 00:08:46.159
in Denver, Colorado, on nineteen
thirty eight. She's most known for voicing
114
00:08:46.200 --> 00:08:50.919
Missus Puff on SpongeBob SquarePants. She's
done it since nineteen ninety nine. She
115
00:08:50.159 --> 00:08:54.080
was on The Smurfs from nineteen eighty
one to nineteen eighty nine, and she
116
00:08:54.159 --> 00:08:56.559
was on the TV show Different Strokes
from eighty two to eighty six. So
117
00:08:56.639 --> 00:09:00.799
in the movie she was in were
sem tough. That's little Hora House in
118
00:09:00.840 --> 00:09:05.879
Texas. And let's be cops.
Not been from nothing, you got a
119
00:09:05.919 --> 00:09:20.440
half nothing, not been from nothing, you gotta half. That's Billy Preston.
120
00:09:20.559 --> 00:09:24.440
He was born in Houston, Texas, in nineteen forty six. In
121
00:09:24.480 --> 00:09:28.399
the nineteen sixties, Billy was the
top studio recording keyboardists around. He played
122
00:09:28.440 --> 00:09:33.320
on albums with Everybody, We're Not
Gonna Beatles, Rolling Stones, Little Richard,
123
00:09:33.399 --> 00:09:35.919
Everley Brothers, you name it.
He probably played keyboard for their albums.
124
00:09:37.440 --> 00:09:39.919
Now. He had a little success
as a solo artist in the nineteen
125
00:09:39.960 --> 00:09:43.320
seventy and some of them heads right, nothing from Nothing, Strutton, fancy
126
00:09:43.440 --> 00:09:46.159
Lady. Now. For almost all
of his adult life, the only person
127
00:09:46.240 --> 00:09:50.559
he told in the music industry that
he was gay was Keith Richard from the
128
00:09:50.639 --> 00:09:52.559
Rolling Stones. Yeah. I probably
didn't think there need to be awaiting Keith
129
00:09:52.600 --> 00:09:56.480
would remember it. But Billy did
come out a couple of years before he
130
00:09:56.559 --> 00:09:58.039
died. He died in two thousand
and six at fifty nine years old from
131
00:09:58.080 --> 00:10:03.120
kidney failure. Actor Mark harm And
He's seventy two. He was born in
132
00:10:03.240 --> 00:10:05.639
Burbank, California, in nineteen fifty
one. In college He was a starting
133
00:10:05.720 --> 00:10:09.440
quarterback for UCLA for two seasons.
Then he graduated kum laude and went into
134
00:10:09.480 --> 00:10:13.240
acting. First got none for the
TV series Saint Elsewhere, then Chicago,
135
00:10:13.320 --> 00:10:18.799
Hope in Cis some of his movies
or Summer School Wide Earth Freaky Friday married
136
00:10:20.159 --> 00:10:22.720
actress Pam Dauber in nineteen eighty seven
and they have two sons now. Mark
137
00:10:22.840 --> 00:10:28.600
dad was famous sportscast broadcaster Tom Harmon. It was actually a Heisman Trophy winner
138
00:10:28.600 --> 00:10:31.840
back in nineteen forty one. Actor
Keanu Rays is fifty nine. He's born
139
00:10:31.879 --> 00:10:35.320
in nineteen sixty four in Beirut Lebanon. Pretty much grew up in Canada,
140
00:10:35.360 --> 00:10:39.360
though first got known playing Ted and
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. He's made
141
00:10:39.399 --> 00:10:43.080
over seventy movies, so he's pretty
hard working actor. His movies were made
142
00:10:43.080 --> 00:10:48.240
over four point six billion dollars.
He's considered one of the most private celebrities
143
00:10:48.279 --> 00:10:52.120
there is. He really shocked everybody
in twenty nineteen when he revealed that he
144
00:10:52.159 --> 00:10:56.440
had had a girlfriend since two thousand
