This is the documentary that has the world in a chokehold since it's initial release and for good reason. It is an absolutely wild ride from beginning to end, and like many of you, after watching Unknown Number, I wondered how true it was, how accurate it was, and what they left out. After some research I realized that not only did the Netflix documentary skew with the reality of the situation, but they left out what I believe to be very critical information. Hence this full, and quite lengthy breakdown of the Netflix documentary, to the cut article written by Lauren Smiley, to everything in between. At the end of the day, the adults responsible for protecting these children gravely failed, and I hope they are able to experience peace, and healing after the horribly traumatic things this evil catfish thrust upon them.
