OM DENNE EPISODE
In this episode of FROMHERE, Vanessa Oake Hogan sits down with legendary Canadian broadcaster and Order of Canada recipient Scott Oake for a deeply personal conversation about his remarkable career, the loss of his son Bruce to addiction, and the work that followed.
Scott shares stories from more than 50 years in broadcasting, including the Olympics, Stanley Cup Finals and his unforgettable Snoop Dogg interview. But the heart of the conversation is the Bruce Oake Recovery Centre, created in memory of his son, and the new Anoke Family Recovery Centre being built to help women recover while keeping their children with them.
Scott talks openly about addiction as a disease, the importance of compassion, the difference between enabling and supporting recovery, and why creating a culture of kindness, community and hope can change lives.
For anyone trying to better understand addiction—or wondering what can actually be done in the face of a growing crisis—this is a powerful conversation about turning grief into action and proving that change is possible.
FROMHERE is hosted by Vanessa Oake Hogan, Broker/Owner of Century 21 United Realty in Peterborough, Ontario. Each episode explores the people, ideas and experiences behind meaningful success in business and in life.
