OM DENNE EPISODE
Each year LGPro supports a group of up to 24 Victorian Local Government officers the opportunity to develop their leadership skills by participating in their Emerging Leaders Program.
The Emerging Leaders Program provides a unique year of leadership focused experiences and activities designed to develop and inspire emerging leaders in Local Government in Victoria.
Each year ELP participants are assigned a group project which they work on throughout the year and present their findings. The 2019 Emerging Leaders Program participants were tasked to deliver a project on the role of local government in environmental and climate sustainability in the workplace.
This ‘Emerging Sustainably’ podcast series along with a written report available on the LGPro website offer an insight to the groups learnings throughout the year. The podcast series explores the increased focus on sustainability and its impact on local governments in Victoria.
Each of the three episodes are in a panel discussion format, hosted by 2019 ELP participants and young people from the Victorian Student Representative Council. To explore a variety of perspectives on this topic each episode will feature guests including former a council CEO, current councillors, and sustainability experts.
In this second episode of the Emerging Sustainably podcast series 2019 ELP participants talk with Zaituna and Alyssa from the Victorian Student Representative Council and completing the panel are Guy Pritchard, Climate Change Manager at Sustainability Victoria; Brad Kijlsta – Stone, Sustainability Officer at South Gippsland Council, and Jess Baillie, Coordinator Facilities at Yarra Ranges Council.
We would also like to thank our Podcast facilitators from the ELP group, Christian Thomas and Jess Bailie, for their great work in hosting the sessions.
We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners, the Wurundjeri People as the Custodians of this land. We also pay respects to all Aboriginal Community Elders, past and present, who have resided in the area and have been an integral part of the history of this region.
