If your practice is losing patients to missed calls and front-desk burnout, you're not alone. Most independent practices miss around 30% of incoming calls, that's 30% of your patient pipeline walking to the clinic across the street.
GoTo Connect consolidates your phones, patient messaging, video visits, and scheduling into one platform that helps you stay HIPAA-compliant. AI receptionist. EHR integration. No IT team required. Built specifically for physician-owned practices.

Most physicians don’t have a time problem, they have a delegation problem.
Medical training rewards doing everything yourself, but that same habit is what keeps so many doctors charting in their pajamas at night.
In this episode of Bootstrap MD, Dr. Mike Woo-Ming shows how to treat AI (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar) as a chief of staff rather than just another login. He walks through a simple three-step system: the Five-Minute Protocol, and demonstrates it with three ready-to-use examples:
- The “Explain It Again” letter: Turn 15-minute patient education writing into a 2-minute review.
- The Weekly CEO Review: Get strategic questions that force you to think like the CEO of your own career.
- The Delegation Filter: Ruthlessly sort your entire task list into “only me,” “draft & review,” and “don’t do it.”
He also shares the critical privacy rule (never put PHI into general AI tools) and offers a free Physician’s AI Chief of Staff Kit with the exact prompts used in the episode.
This is the practical follow-up to tool recommendations: not which apps to buy, but the system for actually handing work off and getting your evenings back.
Three Actionable Takeaways:
- AI is a chief of staff, not a tool: A tool requires you to learn and operate it. A chief of staff is someone you hand work to. Treat AI the same way a CEO treats their chief of staff, brief it with a clear job description, let it produce the first draft, and review like an attending.
- Use the Five-Minute Protocol: Pick one task, run a well-written prompt (job description, not magic phrase), review and edit for 60 seconds. Do this once and it usually pays for itself the same day. Start with patient education letters, weekly planning, or task triage.
- Protect privacy and stay ruthless: Never put patient identifiers, names, DOBs, or records into general AI tools. Keep protected health information in protected systems. Use the delegation filter regularly so the “only a physician can do this” bucket stays honestly small.
