OM DENNE EPISODE
Every time a pro wins with a quirky move, it shows up on the lesson tee the next week.... the bowed wrist, the foot hop, the "swing that will revolutionize golf." We all love an outlier, and we all think we're one magic bullet away. In this episode of the Athletic Motion Golf Podcast, Mike Granato & Shaun Webb break down why copying those moves is the fastest way to wreck your golf swing, and what you should be stealing from tour players instead.
The real answer is their mindset and how they practice: low ball counts, rehearsal swings, verifying every feel against Gears, TrackMan, or video instead of trusting feel alone, and practicing with a plan rather than reacting to the last shot you hit. We get into honest swing-change timelines (why a tour coach will tell a player it might take two years), the 1%-a-day math, the ladder to unconscious competence, why bad concepts are the easiest to ingrain and the hardest to undo, Tony Ruggerio's 3x5 note card system, and why filming your on-course swing — not your basement swing — is the only way to see what you're actually changing.
Get good at the basics. That's where 95% of them live. Timestamps below.
