When we talk about the greatest of all time. In. In the world of sports, especially football. One name undoubtably comes to mind. Tom Brady. But what if I told you that the journey to becoming the go was far from a smooth ride? In fact, Brady story is a Testament to resilience, hard work, and the belief that even when the odds are against you, you can still achieve greatness. Welcome to episode 180 8 of this shit works. A podcast dedicated to all things, networking, relationship building and business development. I'm your host, Julie Brown. Speaker author and networking coach. And today I'm discussing why it's important to know the whole story when it comes to someone's success. Let's take a trip back in time and rewind the clock all the way to the 2000 NFL draft. Picture this a young aspiring quarterback from the university of Michigan sits and waits to hear his name eager to make his mark in the world of professional football. But Tom Brady. Had to wait a while to hear his name. He wasn't a first round pick. He wasn't even a second or third round pick or fourth or fifth. No, you had to wait until the sixth round before he got the call. Now. Think about that for a moment, the man who would go on to become a seven times super bowl champion five times super bowl, MVP, and widely regarded as the greatest quarterback of all time. I was almost completely overlooked by the majority of NFL teams. Yeah, the Patriots chose them in the sixth round, but his wasn't an instant success story. He started as the backup quarterback to the hundred million dollar man drew Bledsoe, who at the time was a fan and owner favorite. Brady had to wait for his opportunity to prove himself on the field, which he got after drew suffered a devastating hit that sent him to the hospital with internal bleeding in his chest cavity, along with a partial rib cage tear that kept him off the turf for six weeks. But here's the thing. Even when Brady got his chance, he made mistakes. He wasn't immune to the challenges that come with being a professional athlete. He faced criticism doubt and had to overcome setbacks. Yet he persevered. Learned from his efforts and continued to work tirelessly to improve. And that my friends is the essence of today's episode. The fact that greatness doesn't happen overnight. It takes time, effort and a whole lot of resilience. Tom Brady's journey from sixth round draft pick to the greatest quarterback of all time. Is there a reminder that success is a marathon, not a sprint and. That sometimes your talents will be overlooked or dismissed along the way. Take Brock Purdy, for example, once dubbed Mr. Irrelevant as the 250th overall pick in the NFL draft. Well. He led his team to the Superbowl in just two short years. Sometimes you will know what talent lies within you far before. Anyone else can see it. Take Michael Jordan. Despite his incredible success and status is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He faced rejection early in his career. He was even cut from his high school basketball team. But he used that as motivation to improve and eventually become an NBA legend. One another one. The most decorated Olympian of all time. Michael Phelps struggled with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as a child. His energy and restlessness led his teachers and classmates to believe he wouldn't amount to much. However, he found his passion in swimming and went on to win a record breaking number of gold medals in the Olympics. The greatest athletes of all time are not inherently born with their extraordinary abilities. Rather their success does forge through relentless hard work and unwavering determination. The journey to becoming legendary in anything in life. Involves pushing boundaries, learning from failures and continually striving for excellence. In essence. The greatest athletes of all time are not merely born with an eight talent. Rather they are shaped by their relentless pursuit of excellence and their unwavering commitment to realizing their full potential, no matter what the fuck anybody else sees in them. There are stories inspire us to believe in the transformative power of determination and to strive for greatness in our own endeavors. Okay. Onto the drink of the week, which comes to us from the iconic cocktail company and was created in honor of Tom Brady. It is indeed the goat cocktail.
