đ Revelation 3:14â22
In this episode of The King is Coming, Keith Harris and Jamie Harrison close out Jesusâs seven letters to the churches with the most sobering of them allâHis message to Laodicea. Unlike Philadelphia, there is no praise here. Only diagnosisâĻ and invitation.
Jesus introduces Himself as âthe Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of Godâs creation.â He is the final word. He is completely trustworthy. He is Creator, not created.
Then comes the warning: âYou are neither cold nor hotâĻ because you are lukewarmâĻâ (Revelation 3:15â16)
In a city known for its lukewarm, undrinkable water, the imagery would have been unmistakable. The church believed they were rich and in need of nothingâbut Jesus says they were poor, blind, and naked.
Together, Keith and Jamie discuss:
âī¸ What âlukewarmâ really meant in Laodiceaâs context
âī¸ The danger of spiritual self-sufficiency
âī¸ Why Jesus confronts their wealth, clothing, and eye salve industries
âī¸ How loving rebuke proves we belong to Him
âī¸ What it means that Jesus stands at the door and knocks
This letter is hardâbut it is not hopeless. âThose whom I love, I reprove and discipline. So be zealous and repent.â (Revelation 3:19) And the promise still stands: âTo the one who conquers I will grant him to sit with me on my throneâĻâ (Revelation 3:21)
âHe who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.â (Revelation 3:22)
